2003 HONDA ACCORD EX V6. BACKLIGHT IN DISPLAY UNIT FOR RADIO AND A/C HAS BURNED OUT. DISPLAY IS DARK. CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY BY 3500 MILES BUT DEALER WANTS TO REPLACE ENTIRE UNIT FOR ABOUT $900. I KNOW OF AT LEAST 10 OTHER FAILURES WITH 2003 ACCORD EX DISPLAY UNITS.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON A TWO-LANE ROAD WHEN SHE MADE A MINOR SWERVE TO AVOID AN OBJECT IN THE ROAD. THE PASSENGER-SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS (FRONT AND REAR) DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. THERE ARE NO MARKS INDICATING ANYTHING STRUCK THE VEHICLE. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, OUR 7-MONTH-OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THE BACK SEAT, ON THE DRIVER SIDE. WE ARE GRATEFULE THAT OUR 4-YEAR-OLD SON WAS NOT IN HIS SEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WE IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALER, MARTIN HONDA, WHO ADVISED TO BRING THE CAR IN IMMEDIATELY. DEALER ALSO ADVISED US TO CONTACT AMERICAN HONDA IN CALIFORNIA TO REPORT.
WHEN BACKING DOWN MY ANGLED DRIVEWAY, WHEN THE CAR IS COLD, THE BRAKES DO NOT ADEQUATELY STOP THE CAR. IN FACT THE CAR CONTINUES MOVEMENT EVEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED FIRMLY. THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN SHOULD I NEED TO STOP SUDDENLY AND YET THE CAR CONTINUES TO MOVE. THE CAR ALSO DOES THIS WHEN DRIVING IN A FORWARD MOVEMENT DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, BUT NOT TO THE SAME DEGREE AS DRIVING AND BRAKING BACKWARD. THE DEALER AND LOOKED AT THE CAR TWICE, AND TELL ME THIS IS NORMAL BECAUSE THE CAR REVS UP HIGH WHEN COLD TO REDUCE POLLUTION, AND THE DRUM BRAKES ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO STOP THE CAR WHEN BACKING DOWN A GRADE. *NM
THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR. THE TIRES SCREECHED AND THE TRANSMISSION GRINNED TO A HAULT. WE HAD THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT, $2800. *TR
2003 HONDA ACCORD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION'S SLIPS OUT OF 2ND GEAR (NEUTRAL). OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. COULD GET NO HELP FROM AMERICAN HONDA. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TWO FRONT WINDOWS ON HER VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO UP OR DOWN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST THREE TIMES AND THEY REPLACED THE MOTORS, BUT THE WINDOWS STILL DO NOT GO UP AND DOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,966.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THE SAME ISSUE THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED ( HTTP://WWW.ASKMEHELPDESK.COM/CARS-TRUCKS/2003-HONDA-ACCORD-WIRING-PROBLEM-8584-10.HTML ). MY RADIO/CD CHANGER, TEMPERATURE CONTROL AND DEFROST LIGHTS WENT OUT JUST AFTER MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE A $400+ REPAIR AND THE CAR WOULD NEED TO BE KEPT FOR 2-3 DAYS. SEEING THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THAT SAME PROBLEM I WOULD REQUEST THAT A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM BE ISSUED IMMEDIATELY. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER. *TR
I BELIEVE THERE IS A BRAKE DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD V6. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS ON MY VEHICLE TWICE WITHIN 37,000 MILES. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED ONCE AND THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS RESURFACED ONCE WITHIN THIS MILAGE PERIOD. GOING THROUGH THREE SETS OF ROTORS AND ONE SET OF BRAKE PADS WITHIN 37,000 MILES MEANS THERE IS EITHER A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM. I EXPERIENCED NO BRAKE FAILURES AS A RESULT OF THESE PROBLEMS.*AK
MALFUNCTION WITH BULB OR ILLUMINATION DEVICE. THE LIGHT THAT ILLUMINATES THE RADIO, TIME,AND CD DISPLAY HAD MYSTERIOUSLY GONE OUT. AUTO OUT OF WARRANTY BY 7,000 MILES. DEALER WOULD PAY FOR PART BUT I WOULD PAY THE LABOR OF $156.00.*AK
RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FROM HONDA REGARDING TO THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PROBLEM DURING THE 3RD QUARTER OF 2004. OWNER BROUGHT IN THE CAR TO NEARBY HONDA DEALER FOR THE RECALL. HONDA SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SUGGEST THAT THERE IS NO NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND HAS DONE THE REQUIRED SERVICES FOR THE VEHICLE. ON MAR 01, 2005. WHILE ACCELERATING ON A ON RAMP ENTERING THE FREEWAY, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOOSE GEAR CONTROL AND WAS UNABLE TO FIND A RIGHT GEAR. THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN WHILE STILL RAVING AT NEUTRAL FOR ABOUT 2 SECOND UNTIL IT SHIFTED TO ANOTHER GEAR. THE PROBLEM OCCURED MULTIPLE TIMES AFTER THAT INCIDENT, AND GETS WORST AND WORST DURING THAT ONE DAY UNTIL ONE OCCASION WHERE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY STOP ON THE ROAD WHILE ENGINE IS STILL ON, AND THE GEAR IS STILL ON D4. THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY ABLE TO MOVE WHEN THE IGNITION WAS TURN OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, AND CAN ONLY TRAVEL WHILE ON FIRST GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT INTO THE DEALER THE DAY AFTER, AND DEALER SUGGEST TO CHANGE THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION UNDER OWNERS OWN EXPANSE OF APPROXIMATELY $4000 OR USE THE EXTENDED WARRENTY IF THE PROBLEM IS COVER UNDER THE WARRANTY. *AK
AT FIRST NONE OF THE WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN. CURRENTLY, THE DOOR LOCKS FROZE, AND CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE THAT HAD A KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM. CONSUMER HAD ONE LOCK ON THE DOOR THAT THE KEY WENT INTO AND THAT LOCK ALSO FROZE. AT THIS TIME, THE CONSUMER HAD TO LEAVE THE DOORS UNLOCKED IN ORDER TO GAIN ACCESS.*AK THIS PRESENTED A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO NECESSITY OF ACCESSING AUTO AFTER WORK IN A DARK PARKING STRUCTURE AT A CITY HOSPITAL. THE DEALERSHIP BLEW DRY THE INSIDE DOOR, BUT WITH MICHIGAN WINTERS , CONSUMER FORESEE A HIGH PROBABILITY OF RECURRENCE. THE RIGHT SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER INSERT STARTED FALLING OUT AND SCRATCHED THE WINDSHIELD. REINSTALLED WIPER INSERT. *BF *NM
PURCHASED 2003 ACCORD EX V6 IN 5/03. HAD A FEW PROBLEMS WITH CAR AFTER PURCHASE: DELAY WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE (DEALERSHIP SAID WAS NORMAL), MUFFLER SOUND LIKE IT HAS A LEAK (DEALERSHIP COULD'NT FIND A PROBLEM), NOISE HAS GOTTEN WORSE. MY CAR HAS BEEN OUT OF WARRANTY SINCE 1/05. WENT ON VACATION IN 2/05, WHEN I WENT TO CRANK THE CAR, PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND TURNED, ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON DASH AND RADIO LIT UP, TURNED THE KEY FURTHER TO CRANK, ONCE STARTED THE DASH LIGHTS CAME BACK ON, BUT THE RADIO LIGHTS DID'NT. THE RADIO STILL WORKED, YOU JUST CANT SEE THE DISPLAY. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AFTER WE GOT HOME AND THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A BULB WENT OUT, THEY WOULD REPLACE IT BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY 80.00 LABOR AND THEY COULD'NT GUARANTEE THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. I TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP FOR THEM TO CHANGE THE BULB, THEY TOOK OUT THE RADIO AND CALLED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP THAT I CALLED AND THEY TOLD THE MECHANIC THERE WAS NO BULB IN THE RADIO. THEY PUT THE RADIO BACK IN AND GAVE ME THE CAR BACK. I BOUGHT A NEW RADIO AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP, THEY PUT THE NEW RADIO IN AND THE SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE, RADIO WORKS, NO LIGHTS. THEY PUT THE OLD RADIO BACK IN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THIS TIME I EXPLAINED AGAIN ABOUT MY RADIO LIGHTS, THEY SUGGEST I CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FOLLOW THEIR SUGGESTIONS, SO I DID, AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO THEM. THEY ADVISED ME THERE WAS A BULLETIN ALREADY ON THE PROBLEM WITH MY RADIO, THAT THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO FAULTY EQUIPMENT. TOLD ME I SHOULD TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, GIVE THEM THE BULLETIN NUMBER, LET THEM DIAGNOSE MY PROBLEM AND IF IT IS DUE TO FAULTY EQUIPMENT, GET AN ESTIMATE OF HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO FIX. CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE BACK AND LET THEM KNOW HOW MUCH THE DEALERSHIP WOULD CHARGE ME AND ASK FOR GOODWILL ASSISTANCE FOR FINANCING THE COST TO FIX FAULTY EQUIPMENT THAT OBVIOUSLY IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH HONDA, NOT THE CONSUMER.
DRIVER AIR BAGS DID NOT WORK IN CRASH ON HIGHWAY. I HIT HUMMER IN THE RAIN, FROM THE BACK. HUMMER STOPED, I WAS DOING 65-70 MPH, HIT BRAKES, HIT HUMMER IN BACK DOING 25-35 MPH. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS CAME OUT.
MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION 2ND GEAR INSPECTION. ON A SUBSEQUENT VISIT TO THE DEALER I HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED . DURING THAT SERVICE THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT FILL THE TRANSMISSION . AT LOW SPEEDS AND LOW TORQUE SITUATIONS I LOOSE ALL POWER , THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION APPERAS TO SLIP OUT OF GEAR . I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET IT BACK INTO GEAR BY DOWNSHIFTING INTO !ST GEAR. THIS HAS OCCURED 4 TIMES AND THE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG. IT HAS HAPPENED ONCE WHILE GOING THROUGH MY STATES EZPASS ( 20MPH) AND THREE DIFFERENT TIMES WHILE IN PARKING LOTS AND OR MY DRIVEWAY. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A SLIGHT DECLINE (FACING FORWARD), WHILE STILL RUNNING. DRIVER LEFT THE VEHICLE, WALKED APPROX 15 YARDS. AN AUDIBLE (FAIRLY LOUD) "POP" WAS HEARD AND THEN THE VEHICLE ROLLED FORWARD, STRIKING A FENCE, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE LIGHT FLASHED FROM DIM TO HIGH BEAM WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED HER THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS BECAUSE THEY WERE WORKING PROPERLY. NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V169000, VISIBILITY: WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER: MOTOR WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE AND HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO INFORMED HER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
2003 HONDA ACCORD SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHILE FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE. IT CAME TO A STOP BY HITTING A NEIGHBORS TREE AND THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. *BF *JB *NM
WHILE THE CONSUMER'S FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY. *NM THIS FAILURE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH THE VEHICLE STRUCK A TREE WHICH AND CAUSED BOTH AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE CONSUMER WAS NOT BADLY INJURED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. *NM *SC *JB
DEFECTIVE 2003 HONDA ACCORD, VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WHILE FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE.*MR WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AND COLLIDED WITH A TREE. THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED INJURING THE CONSUMER'S LEFT JAW. THE PASSENGERS SIDE FRONT END WAS WRAPPED AROUND THE TREE. *NM
2003 HONDA ACCORD EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND BRAKE FAILURE. *MR THE CONSUMERS FOOT NEVER LEFT THE BRAKES. THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE UNDER THE VEHICLE AND OR HOOD WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED LIKE AN JET AIRPLANE, JUMPED THE CURB AND HYDROPLANED ABOUT 2 FEET OFF OF THE GROUND AND HIT THE NEIGHBORS TREE. *SC THE CONSUMER NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE. *JB
HONDA ACCORD 2003 4 CYL,55000 MILES, DRIVING ALONG AT 40 MPH, CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL, STOPPED,RESTARTED BUT NO REVERSE DEALER SERVICE DEPT DIAGNOSED AS TRANSMISSION PARTS BROKEN, REBUILD OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION. REPLACED TRANSMISSION WITH REMANUFACTURED FROM HONDA. *NM
I WAS FORCED OFF THE ROAD INTO A UTILITY POLE CAUSING EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE TO MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I AND MY PASSENGER WERE SAVED FROM SERIOUS HARM BECAUSE WE HAD OUR SEAT BELTS ON. IF THE IMPACT WOULD HAVE BEEN GREATER I FEAR ONE OR BOTH OF US COULD HAVE HAD SERIOUS INJURIES OR EVEN BEEN KILLED. *JB
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DROPPED DOWN, BUT DID NOT INFLATE. ALSO, THE SEAT BELT ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE DID NOT RETRACT. THE HEADLINER WAS RIPPED 6 TO 8 INCHES TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE VEHICLE. THE PLASTIC HOUSING THAT RETRACTS THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT OPERATE EITHER. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND TOLD THE STORY, BUT THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT STAND BY ITS PRODUCT. *AK
AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED IN MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD. SEVERE HEAD AND NECK INJURIES FROM SIDE AND FRONT IMPACT. HONDA DID NOTHING. *JB
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 04V176000 CONCERNING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR REPAIRS. PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *BF THE CONSUMER INDICATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MADE A GRUNTING NOISE. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE NOISE WAS NORMAL BUT THE CONSUMER DOESN'T THINK SO. *NM

FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED OPERATING WHILE DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER. CONSUMER HAD TO PULL OVER UNTIL IT STOPPED RAINING. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK
I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED FOR BRAKE ISSUES ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. BRAKES WERE REPLACED, DRUMS & ROTORS REPLACED AND STILL HAVE ISSUES. I WRECKED MY VEHICLE BECAUSE BRAKES FAILED TO HOLD. HONDA CLAIMS THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BRAKES AND THAT SERVICE WAS DONE FOR CUSTOMER. SATISFACTION. AFTER THE WRECK, I PICKED UP THE CAR FROM THE BODY SHOP, BRAKES REMAIN AN ISSUE. *LA
MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHTS THAT "DIM" TO 40%-50% OF THEIR NORMAL BRIGHTNESS ABOUT ONCE EVERY MINUTE OF OPERATION. I TOOK MY CAR THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TO FIX THIS PROBLEM; THEY SHOWED ME SOME INFORMATION FROM HONDA OF AMERICA THAT SAID THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NORMAL AND HAS NO REPAIR. I TRUST MY THAT MY LOCAL DEALER HAS DONE EVERYTHING WITHIN THEIR MEANS TO FIX THE PROBLEM; IF HONDA OF AMERICA HAS ADMITTED THAT THIS PROBLEM EXSISTS, WHY AREN'T THEY BEING FORCED TO FIX THIS SAFETY HAZARD? WHO HOLDS HONDA OF AMERICA ACCOUNTABLE TO FIX KNOWN PROBLEMS?*AK
FAULTY POWER STEERING RACK IN MY 2003 ACCORD V6. POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKING FROM MY CAR. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS A 6000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID I HAVE A "FAULTY RACK" THAT ALSO CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY PUMP. BOTH RACK AND PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED AND CAR RE-ALIGNED. DEALER SAID SOMETIMES THESE THINGS JUST HAPPEN, "PARTS CAN EVEN BE DAMAGED DURING SHIPPING." SAME THING HAPPENED AT ABOUT 14,000 MILES - "FAULY RACK THAT DAMAGED PUMP." AND DEALER SAID SAME THING "PARTS CAN EVEN BE DAMAGED DURING SHIPPING." I WISH DEALER WOULD STOPPING INSTALLING "FAULTY PARTS" BUT I THINK THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE ACTUAL STEERING SYSTEM. I AM ALMOST TO 16,000 MILES, I EXPECT ANOTHER LEAK SOON. GUESS I CAN'T TAKE ANY LONG ROAD TRIPS IN MY VEHICLE. THIS IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED FROM A BRAND NEW CAR!*AK
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. ON NOVEMBER 17, 2004 SOMEONE HIT CONTACT'S VEHICLE HEAD ON AT 60 MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAD DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT HIT HIS HEAD ON THE SUN VISOR CLAMP. HE WAS UNCONSCIOUS FOR A WHILE. THE POLICE WAS CALLED. THE DAMAGE WAS TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. HE CALLED HONDA ,AND HONDA SENT SOMEONE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT THINK THERE WERE ANY LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY OF THE PERSON WHO HIT THE CONTACT PAID FOR THE DAMAGE DONE TO VEHICLE.*AK UPDATED 09/15/06. *JB
THE BRAKES GRINDED, AND THERE WAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WHEN BRAKING WERE USED ON SNOW COVERED ROADS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER ON THREE SEPARATED OCCASIONS, AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. ALSO, DEALER ADVISED THE CONSUMER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER IN THE SNOW AREA, AND LET THEM INSPECT THE BRAKES. NO INSPECTION WAS MADE AT THIS TIME.*AK
BRAKES ARE SHAKING REALLY BAD WHEN BRAKING. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME, BUT IT APPEARS SEVERAL PEOPLE IN FORUMS ARE REPORTING THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND ISSUES. *JB
COMPLAINT RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL. HEARD A SCREECHING NOISE FROM THE FRONT END BRAKE. THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP UPON INSPECTION OF THE BRAKE PAD NOTICED THAT THEY WERE CRACKED. THEY INDICATED THAT THIS WAS A DEFECT IN THE QUALITY OF THE BRAKE PAD, AND THIS SHOULDN'T OF HAPPEN. THEY KEPT THE BRAKE PAD. *AK
DEFECT OF 2ND GEAR TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION LOCK UP AND CRUSH WITHOUT WARNING. *BF THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE 2ND GEAR TRANSMISSION THAT COULD CAUSE OVERHEATING WHICH COULD RESULT IN A TRANSMISSION LOCK UP. THE CONSUMER STATED THE IGNITION KEY BECAME HOT TO TOUCH AFTER DRIVING FOR A CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME. *JB
2003 HONDA ACCORD COUPE HAS HARD STARTS. WILL OCCASIONALLY TURN THE KEY SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE ENGINE WILL START.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 -65 MPH APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THERE WAS VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THERE WAS MINOR VIBRATION IN THE STEERING AT LOWER SPEEDS, BUT THERE WAS MORE EXTREME VIBRATION AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE WAS. THE CONSUMER DID NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT WASWRONG WITH THE VEHICLE BUT FELT IT COULD BE SOMETHING WITHIN THE BRAKES OR ROTORS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE IWASNO RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. T HAS NOT HAD THE BRAKES OR ANY COMPONENTS REPLACED SINCE HE HAS PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. *AK
COMPLAINT RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL. MY CAR WAS HIT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BY A CAR THAT RAN A RED LIGHT. THE IMPACT WAS ABOUT 25 TO 30 MPH. MY CONCERN IS THAT MY SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG DID NOT FUNCTION AS ADVERTISED AND FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE AIR BAG IN THE OTHER CAR DEPLOYED, AND THE DRIVER WAS UNINJURED. I SUFFERED A BLOW TO THE HEAD WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED OR AT LEAST MINIMIZED HAD MY AIR BAG FUNCTIONED. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE SPEED OF THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS 30-35 MILES PER HOUR AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. *TC

2003 HONDA ACCORD EXHIBITED GRINDING BRAKE NOISE WHEN BRAND NEW (9-03). HAS BEEN IN FOR BRAKE SERVICE 6 TIMES. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE MANAGER AT CARY AUTO PARK HONDA THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE DEFECTIVE WARPED ROTORS AND PLANNED TO RECALL THEM IN THE FALL OF 2003. MY ROTORS WERE REPLACED WITH MORE DEFECTIVE ROTORS WHILE WAITING FOR THE RECALL THAT STILL HAS YET TO HAPPEN. ON 10-16-04, I HAD THE ROTORS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO SAID THAT THEY WERE MOST DEFINITELY DEFECTIVE. I AM EXPERIENCING AN EVER INCREASING AMOUNT OF GRINDING AND SHUDDERING WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. I WANT MY "LEMON" REPAIRED CORRECTLY. I PURCHASED A NEW CAR WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT IT WAS FREE OF DEFECTS AND ANY DEFECTS FOUND WOULD BE CORRECTED UNDER WARRANTY. *AK
WARPED ROTORS. BRAKE PADS NEED TO BE REPLACED. BRAKES HAVE BEEN PULSATING SINCE AROUND 15000 MILES. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. ON SECOND OCCASION THEY PRODUCED A MEMO WHICH STATED THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE COMPLAINED OF THE VIBRATION AND THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE ROTORS TO HEAT UP AND COOL DOWN, BUT THEY ARE NOT WARPED. TODAY THEY TOLD US THAT IT IS DUE TO HARSH DRIVING AND DRIVING IN THE CANYON. THEY ARE TELLING MY HUSBAND THAT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ARE NOT COVERED PAST 12,000 MILES AND HONDA DOES NOT COVER A "WEAR" ITEM. WE CURRENTLY HAVE 35,000 MILES. SO FAR THE REPAIR IS GOING TO COST 360.00 WITH A DISCOUNT.*AK
MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX WAS IN NEUTRAL AND ROLLED IN TO ANOTHER VEHICLE CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND ANOTHER VEHICLE IN MY PARKING LOT. EITHER I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY WHILE THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SHIFT WAS IN NEUTRAL OR THE GEAR SHIFT WAS ABLE TO JUMP FROM PARK TO NEUTRAL AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND THE KEY WAS REMOVED. *AK

CD PLAYER MALFUNCTION, NOT A MECHANICAL FAILURE, 2003 FIRST MODEL YEAR OF THE ACCORD LX MAKEOVER, HIGH HEAT BUILDS UP IN THE DASHBOARD WHEN ON THE FREEWAY WITH HEATER AND PLAYER ON. CD ARE VERY HOT. DIGITAL DISPLAY "ERR" OR "BUSY",THIS HAPPENED AT 18,000 MILES,(COVERED BY WARRANTY) WHEN DRIVING ON VACATION IN LATE FALL, 2ND FIX AT 75,000,DEALER REDUCE CHARGE OF NEW INSTALLATION, AT 100,000 MILES BURNED OUT AGAIN, ON FREEWAY EACH WEEK SINCE I OWNED THE CAR AT LEAST 2 HRS. DEALER DENIAL OF ANY RESPONSIBILITY, SERVICE-PERSON,ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL YEAR, BUT ON THIRD VISIT DENIED HE MADE SUCH STATEMENTS. NOT A BOOMBOX PROBLEM, I PLAY MOSTLY CLASSICAL MUSIC, WHEN I DO, NOT FROM OVERUSE! NO COMPUTER CD EVER PLAYED, ONLY COMMERCIAL CD'S PLAYED. IT STILL LOADS AND REJECTS AS NORMAL BUT DISPLAYS ERROR MESSAGE, AND BUSY MESSAGE. SERVICE TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL 2003 ACCORDS, THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN THE 2004 MODEL. I WOULD LIKE HONDA TO ASSUME COSTS AND FIX MY PLAYER.....PLEASE. CD ARE NOT WARM, THEY ARE VERY, VERY HOT WHEN PLACED ON TO THE CHEEK, AT FIRST ALARMED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF A FIRE, SO I EMPTIED OUT THE PLAYER AND HOPED THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE TO PULL OVER. *TR
10/4/2004 - DRIVING 65 MPH AND CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF - LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. IN SHOP FOR 5 DAYS AND SAID PROBLEM'S FIXED. 2/7/2005 - DRIVING 50 MPH AND HAPPENED AGAIN - LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. IN SHOP FOR 5 DAYS, DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS FIXED. *JGB2/13/2005 - DRIVING 45 MPH AND CAR SHUT OFF AGAIN - LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. BACK IN SHOP CURRENTLY. SAFETY CONCERN - LIFE HAS BEEN PUT IN JEOPARDY 3 TIMES NOW. *JB
GEAR FAILURE COULD RESULT IN TRANSMISSION LOCKUP, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. *BF A CLUNKING SOUND WAS HEARD BY THE CONSUMER. RECALL NUMBER (04V176000). *TC
BRAKE FAILURE. *BF PRIMARILY A COMPLAINT ABOUT MICHELIN TIRES. *JCC THE TIRE HAD POOR GRIP IN THE RAIN. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE SLOWED VERY GRADUALLY ONLY BECAUSE THE CONSUMERS FOOT WAS OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE COASTED, APPROXIMATELY 2-3 SECONDS LATER, THE BRAKES APPLIED VERY GENTLY. THE CONSUMER AS WELL AS THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP BELIEVED THERE WAS A MOMENTARY FAILURE OF THE ABS. *JB
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES THERE IS A GROWLING SOUND AND VIBRATIONS. VEHICLE HAS 30,000 MILES IS UNDER 100,000 MILE WARRANTY. WAS TOLD BY HONDA THAT THIS MODEL YEAR HAS SOFT BRAKE PADS AND THEREFORE SOFT ROTORS. THE BRAKES HAVE 45% WEAR ACCORDING TO HONDA WHICH MADE THE ROTOR WARP. THEY SAY NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HAVE DONE NOTHING YET. *AK
DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION RECALL 04V176000 REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE TOOLS/MACHINERY.*AK
