TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHEN SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. SHE HEARD AN UNFAMILIAR SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. INITIALLY, THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS, BUT HAS RECENTLY BECOME WORSE. THE FASTER SHE DRIVES, THE LOUDER THE FAILURE BECOMES. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THE FAILURE CEASES, AND WHEN SHE RELEASES THE PEDAL, IT STARTS AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE MAY POSSIBLY BE CAUSED BY A NOISE BOX. THEY FURTHER INFORMED HER THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.
A HEAD ON COLLISION RESULTED IN AN AIRBAG MALFUNCTION. THE AIRBAG EXPLODED AND DISCHARGED METAL FRAGMENTS CAUSING INJURY TO THE DRIVER. THE AIRBAG WAS REPLACED WHEN CAR WAS REPAIRED. *JB
DT: WHEN REACH HIGHWAY SPEED AND OPEN ING REAR WINDOWS THERE WAS BUFFETING WIND THAT CAME INTO THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED SERVERE VIBRATION TO THE ROOF, INTERIOR, PASSENGERS AND EAR DRUMS.. CONTACTED HONDA ,THEY SAID TO SHUT THE WINDOWS OR ONLY OPEN ONE. *AK
I WAS TRAVELING EAST ON I-195. I SAW THAT A POLICE OFFICER HAD A VEHICLE PULLED OVER ON THE RIGHT. I MOVED OVER TO THE LEFT LANE. WHEN I DID, I CROSSED ONTO THE RUMBLE STRIP ON THE LEFT OF THE HIGHWAY. I APPLIED THE BRAKES WHILE ON THE RUMBLE STRIP AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WILDLY. I TRIED TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK UNDER CONTROL. MY HUSBAND PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. INSTEAD OF SLOWING US DOWN; THE VEHICLE WENT OUT OF CONTROL. I CLEARLY REMEMBER THE LAST MOMENTS SCREAMING BRAKES! BRAKES! WE THEN WENT SIDEWAYS BEFORE GOING ACROSS THE GRASS MEDIAN INTO OPPOSING TRAFFIC. WE WERE IMMEDIATELY STRUCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BY A VEHICLE-TRAVELING WEST. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE FULL FORCE OF THE IMPACT AND WAS KILLED INSTANTLY. I WENT INTO A COMA. I WAS AIRLIFTED TO TEXAS NEURO REHAB IN AUSTIN FROM CAPITAL HEALTH HAMILTON, NJ. NOW I AM PERMANENTLY DISABLED. NOT A MOMENT IN MY LIFE HAS GONE BY SINCE THAT DAY WITHOUT THINKING OF MY HUSBAND AND WHAT HAPPENED TO US. I REMAINED IN A COMA UNTIL OCT, 2005 I WOKE UP IN TX. I HAVE PERMANENTLY LOST MY ABILITY TO WALK, TALK, OR WRITE NORMALLY. HONDA ISSUED A RECALL IN 2005. I RECEIVED IT AFTER THE ACCIDENT. I NEVER GAVE UP HOPE OF FINDING THE TRUE CAUSE. RECENT PROBLEMS WITH OTHER HYBRID VEHICLES WERE EXPOSED. I CONTINUED LOOKING ON THE WEB FOR HONDA OWNERS WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, AND HAVE FOUND MANY. OUR ACCIDENT REPORT STATES: 'VEHICLE #1 SWERVED OVER THE LEFT SIDE RUMBLE STRIP, CAME BACK ONTO THE LEFT LANE, ACCELERATED BACK OVER THE LEFT SIDE RUMBLE STRIP OFF THE ROADWAY THROUGH THE GRASS MEDIAN AND ONTO WESTBOUND TRAFFIC THERE WERE NO STRAIGHT-LINE SKID MARKS ON THE HIGHWAY FROM MY VEHICLE, ONLY YAW MARKS WHEN THE VEHICLE WENT OUT OF CONTROL. *TR
DT: THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING A 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID. AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE AND ENDED UP IN A DITCH. THERE WAS FRONT DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS HIT WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT END. THE HIGHWAY PATROLMAN ON THE SCENE STATED THAT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED, AND IT HAS NOT YET BEEN INSPECTED. CONSUMER SUSTAINED SEVERE WHIPLASH. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT TAKEN. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS CHARGED WITH FAILURE TO YIELD RIGHT OF WAY. THE OTHER VEHICLE, 2000 VOLKSWAGEN, WAS TOTALED. THERE WERE SIX AIRBAGS ON THIS VEHICLE AND NONE OF THEM DEPLOYED. *AK *TT
I BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW CAR IN 2005 AND GOOD MAINTENANCE ON IT. FOR ABOUT A MONTH, MY CAR HAD BEEN ACTING FUNNY WHEN I CAME TO A STOP, PERIODICALLY. MAYBE ONCE A WEEK OR SO. BY ACTING FUNNY, I MEAN IT DID NOT SEEM TO DOWNSHIFT IMMEDIATELY WHEN I CAME TO A STOP, SOMETIMES ACTING LIKE SOMEONE BUMPED THE CAR FROM BEHIND BARELY. LAST SATURDAY, AROUND 9 PM RIGHT AT THE STOP SIGN, THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT REVERSE OR DOWNSHIFTED. I HAD TO PULL THE CAR TO THE ROAD SIDE. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT NEXT MORNING THAT WAS SUNDAY AND I HAD TO PAY $181 FOR TOWING. MONDAY, THE DEALER SHIP SERVICE CALLED ME AND SAID TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND I HAVE TO PAY $4200 TO REPLACE IT. I TOLD THEM HOW CAN I BOUGHT THE BRAND NEW CAR AND IT WAS ONLY 67K MILES, THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND I HAVE TO PAY $4200.....AFTER THAT THEY DID CONTACT TO HONDA'S CORPORATE AND TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO PAY $750 FOR MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY DEDUCTIBLE AND HONDA WILL PAY THE REST. I HAVE NO CHOICE SO I LET THEM FIXED MY CAR. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SAY IS THAT WHY THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 67K MILES SO WHO WILL BUY THE NEW HONDA WITH THE PROBLEM LIKE THIS. IT COST ME A NIGHTMARE TO THINK ABOUT THAT NIGHT AND I THINK THE HONDA'S CORPORATE SHOULD RESPONSIBLE THIS PROBLEM AND I DON'T HAVE TO PAY $750 PLUG $181 TOWED CAR ONLY 67K MILES DRIVING. 2005 HONDA ACCORD EX (4 CYL 5-AT) 1) CONTINUAL PROBLEM WITH BRAKING SYSTEM AT LOW SPEEDS 2) WHEN AT LOW SPEEDS, APPLY THE BRAKES AND THEY GRAB SO ABRUPTLY THAT THE CAR STOPS WITH A JERK, OFTEN CAUSING SEAT BELTS TO LOCK. THIS CAN ALSO OCCUR WHEN BRAKING FROM HIGH SPEEDS TO LOWER SPEEDS IN ORDER TO STOP CAR. BECAUSE STOPS SO ABRUPTLY HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE CARS BEHIND ME HAD TO SWERVE OUT OF THE WAY. ONE SUCH INSTANCE HAPPENED ON A BUSY TOLL BOTH DURING RUSH HOUR. 3) HONDA DEALER WHERE CAR HAD BEEN PURCHASED SAID NOTHING THEY CAN DO. IT'S A PROBLEM WITH MOST 2005 BRAKES. *NM
I WAS TEST DRIVING A BRAND NEW 2005 HONDA ACCORD LX MODEL. DURING THE TEST DRIVE, WHILE APPROACHING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL THAT WAS ABOUT TO TURN RED, I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND. I CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE PEDAL, WITH NO RESPONSE. BECAUSE OF THIS I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP AND STRUCK ANOTHER CAR IN THE INTERSECTION. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT TO ENSURE THE DEALERSHIP ENSURES THIS PROBLEM IS INVESTIGATED. 2005 HONDA ACCORD ACCELERATES UNEXPECTEDLY EVERY TIME AT COLD ENGINE START. *MR THE RPM IS 1,500 WHEN COLD. WITH FOOT ON BRAKE THE RPM DROPS TO 1,000. WHEN THE BRAKE IS RELEASED THE CAR WILL START TO ROLL FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS AND THEN SUDDENLY THE RPM JUMPS BACK TO 1500 AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES TO ALMOST 10 MPH. *TT
DT: CONSUMER STATES HER VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH A TRUCK CABIN THAT WAS LEFT ABANDONED ON FREEWAY 280 IN PALO ALTO, CA. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE SPUN SEVERAL TIMES AND SIDE SWIPED ANOTHER VEHICLE PARKED IN THE VEHICLE SERVICE LANE. IT LANDED IN THE HILLSIDE OF THE FREEWAY. THE VEHICLE SAFETY FEATURES INCLUDED FRONT, SIDE, AND PANEL AIRBAGS. NONE OF WHICH DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS BY AMERICAN EXPRESS PROPERTY AND CAUSALITY INSURANCE. IT IS PRESENTLY LOCATED STURKEN AUTO BODY IN SAN JOSE, CA. IT IS SCHEDULED FOR IMMEDIATE TOWING BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO IV COMPANY IN NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA FOR SALVAGE. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT. THE CONSUMER WAS INJURED IN THIS VEHICLE. THERE MAYBE OTHER INJURIES BECAUSE THERE WERE 4 OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT SEEN THE POLICE REPORT YET. THE TRUCK CABIN WAS UNAVOIDABLE; THE CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY HAD HIT IT FIRST. *NM
HAVE REPLACED BRAKE 3 TIMES ON 2005 HONDA ACCORD.CAR HAS ONLY 51000 MILES AND HAS NOT BEEN DRIVE HARD. I FIND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH HONDA. *TR
DT: CONTACT STATES AFTER DRIVING HER VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES THERE WAS A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE. THE SERVICE DEALER COULD NOT FIND WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE DEALER DID REPLACE A SPEAKER BECAUSE HE THOUGHT THIS MIGHT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. . VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, TOTALING APPROXIMATELY 15 DAYS.*AK
HONDA ACCORD EX WAS PARKED IN A PICNIC AREA NEAR A LOCAL RIVER. THE DRIVER STEPPED OUT WITH THREE PASSENGERS REMAINING IN VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL AFTER THE PASSENGER TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED, HOWEVER, THE DRIVER STATES THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN PARK. THE VEHICLE THEN ROLLED APPROXIMATELY 10' FORWARD AND DOWN A 40 DEGREE SLOPE LEADING TO THE RIVER. THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE RIVER WITH APPROXIMATELY ONE-HALF OF THE VEHICLE SUBMERSED. TWO PASSENGERS ESCAPED PRIOR TO ENTERING THE WATER. BOTH OF THESE INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED MINOR INJURY IN THE PROCESS. THE OTHER PASSENGER WAS PULLED OUT THE PASSENGER WINDOW AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD ENTERED THE RIVER. WE MADE SEVERAL INQUIRIES WITH HONDA CORPORATION, LOCAL DEALERSHIP, AND OUR INSURANCE COMPANY ABOUT POSSIBLE MECHANICAL PROBLEM. OUR HOPE WAS TO HAVE SOMEONE EXPLAIN THE POSSIBLE SCENARIOS LEADING TO THIS INCIDENT. NO ONE COULD PROVIDE COMPLETE EVIDENCE TO IN
THIS STARTED WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2005 AND CONTINUES TODAY (2011). I DON'T DRIVE THE CAR OFTEN FOR SEVERAL REASONS, ONE BEING A CONSTANT PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHER SPEEDS, THE WHEEL HAS ALWAYS STUTTERED. WHEN ON A STEEP HILL, THE BREAKS HAVE NEVER HALTED THE CAR COMPLETELY. I HAVE TO MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO CARS CROSSING IN FRONT OF ME WHEN ON A STEEP HILL. THE BRAKES ARE TERRIBLE IF I'M IN A PLACE WHERE THERE IS SNOW. I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE IT IN SNOW OR WHERE THERE IS A LOT OF RAIN. THE TIRES ARE VERY GOOD AND ALL TERRAIN, SO IT ISN'T THAT. I HAVE THE BRAKES INSPECTED ALL OF THE TIME AND THEY'RE ONLY SLIGHTLY USED. I HAVE TIRES ROTATED AND ALIGNED ON A REGULAR BASIS. BUT HALF OF THE TIME THE BRAKES GRIND. EVEN AFTER INSPECTION AT THREE DIFFERENT HONDA DEALERSHIPS, NOBODY CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG. I WROTE TO HONDA ABOUT THIS AND SEVERAL OTHER PROBLEMS, BUT THEY DIDN'T EVEN RESPOND, LET ALONE REMEDY THE PROBLEM. I FEEL THE CAR IS DANGEROUS AND I USE IT AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE IN PERFECT WEATHER CONDITIONS AND ON FLAT ROADS. IT'S SAD THAT HONDA TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY. I HAD ONLY GOTTEN HONDAS IN THE PAST BECAUSE OF REPUTATION AND RELIABILITY. I WILL BE BUYING ANOTHER "BRAND" FROM HERE ON OUT. I USED TO LIVE IN CALIFORNIA AND NOW LIVE IN NEW MEXICO. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED UPON PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND THE TCS LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. ALSO, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE DRIVE AND PARK LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FOUR DAYS LATER WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED THROUGH A FENCE AND INTO A BOULDER. ALTHOUGH SEAT BELTS WERE WORN AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THERE WAS PROPERTY DAMAGE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED.
2005 HONDA ACCORD EXPERIENCED COLD ENGINE START AND UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION. *MR AT START UP THE ENGINE WOULD RUN AT 1500 RPM. WHEN PLACED IN GEAR WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE RPM WOULD DROP TO 1000. UPON RELEASE OF THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WOULD BEGIN TO ROLL AS NORMALLY EXPECTED FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS AND THEN THE RPM WOULD SUDDENLY JUMP TO 1500 AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES IMMEDIATELY TO 10MPH OR LESS. HONDA SUGGESTED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. *SC *JB
DT: JUST PURCHASED 2005 HONDA. THE ILLUMINATION OF THE PANEL OF THE HEATING AND COOLING CONTROL PANELS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH. IT IS VERY POORLY LIGHTED. *TT
HYBRID ENGINE DOES NOT OPERATE PER MANUFACTORS PUBLISHED DOCUMENTS CREATING VERY POOR CITY MILEAGE
PROBLEMS WITH THE 2005 HONDA ACCORD EX.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE VEHICLE JOLTED EVERYTIME IT WAS STARTED. THE VEHICLE ALSO BECAME STUCK IN SECOND GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE CONSUMER. THE CONSUMER STILL FELT SOME JOLTING AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED TWICE FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE CONSUMER REQUEST THAT THE DEALER/MANUFACTURER RESCIND THE CONTRACT OR PROVIDE HER WITH A COLLATERAL EXCHANGE. *NM
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ENGINE STALLED. CAUSE OF PROBLEM WAS UNDETERMINED. *AK THE DEALER SAID THEY FORGOT TO HOOK THE ALTERNATOR TO THE BATTERY. CONSUMER DIDN'T LIKE THE WAY THE CAR WAS DRIVING AND DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE. THE BRAKES ALSO PERFORMED POORLY. *BF *NM
WHILE DRIVING ON NORMAL CONDITION ROAD AT THE SPEED BETWEEN 30 MPH TO 40 MPH, RATTLE NOISES CAN BE HEARD FROM JOINT BETWEEN WINDSHIELD SCREEN AND DASHBOARD. AND RATTLE NOISE FROM BOTH DOORS.IT HAPPENS AFTER ACCERLARATING THEN RELEASE THE GAS PEDAL, WHILE CRUISING. DRIVING ON FREEWAY, AT 65MPH TO 70MPH, SUSPICIOUS NOISE FROM UNDER THE CAR, FEEL A BIT LOSE CONTROL SOMETIMES. BROUGHT TO THE DEALSHIP AND THEY REMOVED THE CLUSTER AND PANELS, PUT ON FORM TAPE. BUT NOISE STILL EXIST AFTER REPAIR.*AK
THERE ARE NO ANY ILLUMINATING LIGHTS ON FOR RADIO AND A/C BACK LIGHTS WHEN WE TURNED ON THE HEAD LIGHT. IT WAS REPORTED SAME ISSUE FOR 2003 AND 2004 HONDA ACCORD, AND HONDA OFFER 7 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES EXTEND WARRANTY. WE ARE NOT SURE HOW MANY THIS CASES FOR 2005 HONDA ACCORD. IT IS REALLY A BIG FLAW RELATED OUR SAFETY, BUT WE DID NOT KNOW THAT AT ALL WHEN WE BOUGHT IT. LET ME MAKE IT CLEAR: OUR CAR IS 2005 ACCORD LX HAS 53,000 MILES ON IT, HAS BEEN 8 YEARS SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. WHEN HEAD LIGHT IS ON, ITS RADIO AND A/C BACK LIGHT IS DARK. *TR
I BOUGHT MY BRAND NEW 2005 ACCORD EX IN OCTOBER OF 2004. I HAD THE CAR FOR NO MORE THAN A FEW WEEKS WHEN THE RIGHT REAR SPEAKER BLEW OUT. I TOOK IT BACK TO HONDA AND THEY REPLACED IT WITH A NEW SPEAKER. NOT EVEN A WEEK LATER, THE SAME SPEAKER BLEW OUT AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO HONDA AND COMPLAINED. A HONDA REPRESENTATIVE CAME AND CHECKED OUT THE CAR. NOT ONLY DID THEY DENY ME THE REPAIR, BUT THE WOMEN WHO LOOKED AT THE CAR SAID THE SPEAKER WAS NOT BLOWN AND THAT IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE CD'S THAT I WAS PLAYING. MEANWHILE, I DON'T REALLY USE MY CD PLAYER AND I HEAR THE POPPING NOISE FROM MY SPEAKER WHEN I AM PLAYING THE RADIO. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB AND HOPEFULLY I WILL GET THIS FIXED. 2005 HONDA ACCORD EXL EXPERIENCED A BUCKLING ROOF. *MR THE CONSUMERS WIFE WAS DRIVING AND HAD RUN OVER A POT HOLE WHEN SHE HEARD A LOUD NOISE. THE CONSUMER FOUND THE ROOF SEVERELY BUCKLED. THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHEN THEY FOUND OTHER 4 DOOR HONDA ACCORDS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. CURRENTLY THE CONSUMER VEHICLE HAS BIG BUCKLES IN THE ROOF. THE REPRESENTATIVE HAD SOMEONE ELSE TO CALL HIM BACK. THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD HIM THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS HIS FAULT BECAUSE OF THE WAY HE WAS PRESSING THE HORN. BOTH TIMES THE AIRBAG WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP UNDER WARRANTY. HE WENT TO A BODY SHOP AND SAW TWO OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ,AND THEY TOLD HIM IF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED THEN IT COULD CAUSE INJURY TO HIM.*AK UPDATED 12/27/05. *JB
WHILE DRIVING HOME ON INTERSTATE 93 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC I NOTICED A SMALL OBJECT IN THE ROAD THAT I HAD THOUGHT I AVOIDED, BUT IN A INSTANT THE PASSENGER SIDE AND SEAT AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE CAR FILLED WITH A SMOKY SUBSTANCE, CAUSING VISIBILITY TO BE LIMITED, MY WIFE AND I WERE STARTLED BUT OK, WE FIRST THOUGHT WE HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. WE PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THE CAR AND FOUND NO DAMAGE. THE CAR IS 2005 NEW HONDA ACCORD HYBRID BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 500 MILES ON IT. AFTER WE COMPOSED OURSELVES WE CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY INDICATED TO PARK THE CAR AND DO NOT DRIVE IT SO WE HAD IT TOWED. THE DEALER PUT THE CAR ON A LIFT AND CALLED US TO SAY THEY COULD SEE A SCRATCH UNDER THE CAR WHERE SOMETHING MUST HAVE HIT A SENSOR AND THEN TRIGGERED THE AIR BAGS. IF THIS HAD BEEN ON THE DRIVERS SIDE I CAN ASSURE YOUR THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORST. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT SUCH A SMALL OBJECT WOULD TRIGGER THIS TO GO OFF, RATHER THAN A SAFETY ITEM THESE ARE A HAZARD. I WILL FEAR SEEING AN OBJECT ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE FUTURE AND ALWAYS WONDER IF THE AIR BAGS WILL DEPLOY. DOES THIS SOUND NORMAL OR WAS THE DEALER TELLING ME THE TRUTH? I HAD TO FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM BECAUSE THE DEALER STATED IT WAS MY FAULT. THE CAR IS NOW SITTING WAITING FOR THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER TO LOOK AT IT. *AK

I PURCHASED MY 2005 HONDA ACCORD IN FEBRUARY. IT STARTED MISSING OUT A FEW DAYS LATER. WHEN IT SHIFTS FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR IT FEELS LIKE I AM RUNNING OVER WASHBOARDS. THIS HAPPENS A FEW TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE, FOUR TIMES AND THEY CAN NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. A FEW OF THE EXCUSES THAT THEY HAVE GIVEN ME ARE MY ABS ARE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY, I HAVE A HEATED GARAGE WHICH IS CAUSING CONDENSATION- (I DO NOT HAVE A HEATED GARAGE), OR I KEEP BUYING BAD FUEL. A SERVICE TECHNICIAN FELT THE MISS, BUT HONDA DISMISSED IT BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT SHE WAS NOT A CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN, AND THEY COULD NOT GO BY HER WORD. THIS OCCURS IN 4-6 SECONDS I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED BEGINNING AT 1K MILES. I OWN BOTH A 2004 ACCORD EX V6 COUPE AND NOW A 2005 EX V6 SEDAN WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFTER COMPLETELY MISSES THE "D" POSTITION AND MOVES INTO "D3" WHEN SHIFTING FROM EITHER "PARK OR NEUTRAL MODES", AS THOUGH THAT IS THE CORRECT POSITION TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING! THIS IS NOT A NORMAL CONDITION TO OPERATE A VEHICLE. THERE IS NO SIGNIFICANT "DETENT" POSITION TO SECURE THE SHIFTER INTO THE "D" POSTION. IT SIMPLE SLIPS BY THE "D" MODE RIGHT INTO "D3"! EVERY OTHER AUTO TRANSMISSION CAR I'VE OWNED REQUIRED EXTRA EFFORT TO BYPASS THE "DRIVE" POSITION TO PLACE THE SHIFTER INTO ANOTHER(LOWER) GEAR SETTING. OPERATING EITHER OY MY VEHICLES IN THIS MANNER MAY EVENTUALLY CAUSE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION, ENGINE OR BOTH. IT MAY EVEN CAUSE SOME UNFORESEEN TRANSMISSION BEHAVIOR AFFECTING DRIVABILITY.HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS CONTACTED AND THEIR SUGGESTION WAS TO BE "MORE CAREFUL" IN SELECTING THE GEAR SHIFTER POSITION. CONSUMER HAD THE TIRE EVALUATED BY HONDA, SEARS, AND TIRE KINGDOM. THERE WERE NO PUNCTURES, NAILS, OR ANYTHING TO INDICATE THAT THERE WAS A PUNCTURE. WHEN THE TIRE WAS EVALUATED FROM THE INSIDE ONE COULD SEE THE RUBBER PEELING AWAY FROM THE TIRE. THE WHOLE LAYER OF INSIDE RUBBER WAS MOVING AWAY FROM THE TIRE. *AK
THE JACKS THAT HONDA PROVIDE FOR ITS 2005 HONDA IS NOT SAFE THE SYSTEM IS A KNUCKLE BUSTING EXPERIERIENCE AND THE JACK WILL NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE. IT TAKES A LOT LONGER TO MOVE THE DAMAGED TIRE FROM THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A HARD SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR, WHICH YOU CAN FEEL UNDERNEATH YOUR FEET, ALMOST LIKE AN ANNOYING VIBRATION. 3. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS. THEY THEN WANTED TO DISCONNECT THE ABS TO SEE IF IT COULD CLEAR THE PROBLEM, BUT IT WAS JUST A TEST, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THAT WOULD REMEDY THE PROBLEM.*AK
JULIE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN HER NEW 2005 HONDA ACCORD COUPE WHEN HER RIGHT FRONT WHEEL CAME APART. LUCKILY, THE FAILURE DID NOT CAUSE ANY INJURIES OR DEATHS, HOWEVER, SHE WAS TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED CONSISTENT WITH THE ROADWAY SHE WAS DRIVING ON AND THE CAR SWERVED TO THE RIGHT AND SHE HAD A HARD TIME STOPING THE CAR SINCE THE BRAKES HAD BEEN DAMAGED. THE PARTS AND PIECES FROM HER WHEEL CAUSED TWO OTHER CARS TO BE DAMAMGED, BY FLAT TIRES. THE REASON FOR FILING THIS COMPLAINT IS TWO FOLD; (1) TO PROTECT ANYONE ELSE THAT MAY HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND TO REGISTER A COMPLAINT AGAINST HONDA MOTOR COMPANY WHO WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND THIER OEM EQUIPMENT.*AK
