I WAS TRYING TO MANEUVER THROUGH A CROWDED GAS STATION AND HAD BACKED UP. WHEN I PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE, IT LURCHED FORWARD AND ACCELERATED. PRESSING THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD HAD NO EFFECT. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP WAS TO HIT SOMETHING (WHICH ENDED UP BEING CARS STOPPED FOR A RED LIGHT, BUT IT COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN A GAS PUMP, PEDESTRIAN OR PERSONAL PROPERTY). MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED AND IS IN THE BODY SHOP NOW. I WILL HAVE HONDA INVESTIGATE THE ENGINE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND HITTING BUMPS, THE VEHICLE BOUNCED. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. ALSO, TO DEFOG THE WINDSHIELD THE HEATER HAS TO BE ON. THE DEALER INDICATED THE DEFOGGER PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT FURTHER STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS IN WET WEATHER, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED OFF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED. IT WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL WENT TO THE LEFT AND THE DRIVER PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DRIVER EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT. THE TIRE WAS CHANGED, AND NOT INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THIS WAS A BRIDGESTONE, TIRE LINE: TURANZA EL41, SIZE: P195/65R15.
WITH IN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNING OUR HONDA, THE CLUTCH WENT OUT. WE PAID $2700 TO DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY. EVER SINCE THEN THE CLUTCH OR RELATED PARTS SUCH AS THE MASTER CYLINDER GOES OUT SUDDENLY EVERY 12 MONTHS. *TR
WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE, A 2005 HONDA ACCORD EX-L, HE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON CRASH IN WHICH HE WAS INJURED AND THE VEHICLE RECEIVED HEAVY DAMAGE. MY SON WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL DUE TO CERVICAL SPINE, LUMBAR AND CHEST INJURY. THE VEHICLE HAD STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 35 MPH AND THE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. ON THE DASHBOARD THE AIRBAG SIGN DID LIGHT ON, HOWEVER, NO AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED. THE SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER HAD FRIED SINCE THE SEAT BELT WAS LOCKED AND WAS NOT RETRACTING IN ADDITION, THE SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER HAD FRIES. I HAD CONTACTED HONDA NORTH AMERICA, AND THEY REPORTED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE BEHAVED AS IT WAS SUPPOSE TO. HOWEVER, AFTER CONTACTING NHTSA, THE REPRESENTATIVE STATED WITH A 2005 HONDA ACCORD, IF THE SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER FIRES, THE AIRBAG SHOULD FIRE SIMULTANEOUSLY, WHO THEN SUGGESTED ME TO SUBMIT A CLAIM TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE DID UNDERGO REPAIR AUTHORIZED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE SEAT BELT WAS REPLACED IN ADDITION TO THE AIRBAG MODULE AND OTHER ASSOCIATED ITEMS. HOWEVER, THE OLD ITEMS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. *JB
PREMATURE BRAKE PAD/ROTOR WEAR <30,000 MILES, CAUSING EXCESSIVE WHEEL SHIMMY WHICH COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. *NM
MY CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED UPON EXITING A CAR WASH AS I CHANGED FROM NEUTRAL TO DRIVE. THE DESIGN OF THE EXIT LANE FROM THE CAR WASH DRIVEWAY AND ACCESS TO THE FOUR LANE STREET WHERE THE CAR WASH IS LOCATED DOES NOT ALLOW FOR ANY SPEED AS THERE ARE TWO SHARP TURNS . MY CAR SPED ACROSS THE DRIVEWAY, INTO A CULVERT AND TOWARD THE HEAVY TRAFFIC. I APPLIED THE BRAKES IMMEDIATELY AND STEERED THE CAR AWAY FROM THE STREET, CROSSING SEVERAL BUSINESS PARKING LOTS AND LANDSCAPED AREAS. MY 2005 HONDA ACCORD RECEIVED SEVERAL THOUSANDS DOLLARS IN DAMAGE. HONDA DENIED IT WAS WARRANTY AND DID NOT SHOW ME THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION. IN FACT, THIS INFORMATION SEEMED TO BE CLOSELY GUARDED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT HONDA ORR IN HOT SPRINGS, AR. I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY FOR REPAIRS. THIS CAR EXPERIENCED WHAT I WOULD EXPLAIN AS AN OPEN THROTTLE WHICH MAY BE A NEW PROBLEM FOR COMPUTERIZED CARS. I HAVE TAKEN SEVERAL PHOTOS OF MY CAR AND THE SCENE, WHICH SHOWS SEVERAL FEET OF SKID MARKS. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE'S IGNITION DID NOT START. THE CONTACT TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE 4 TIMES, WITH NO SUCCESS. A SLIGHT LOSS OF VEHICLE POWER WAS NOTICED WHILE STARTING UP, A DAY PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 75 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT AS BRAKING AND ACELERATING AT THE SAME TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER. WHILEPULLED OVER THE CONSUEMR TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF FOR ONE MINUTE, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE BEING PULLED OVER THE IOL AND ENGINE LIGHTS WERE ON. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED THE LIGHTS WERE OFF. THE CONSUEMR ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE OFF BUT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PERFOR ERRATICALLY AGIAN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TRADED IN FOR ANOTHER MODEL. UPDATED 10/25/2006 - *NM
VEHICLE PURCHASED 8/1/2006, PASSED SAFETY INSPECTION BY HONDA DEALER. BEGINNING ON 9/1/2006 AIR CONDITIONER RETURNED NO COLD AIR. HONDA DEALER CLAIMS A ROCK IMPACT CAUSED A HOLE IN THE AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER, LEADING TO A LEAKING OF REFRIGERANT AND LOSS OF COOLING FUNCTION. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW, AS THE PROBLEM IS WELL-DOCUMENTED BY MANY CONSUMERS. HONDA REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY, INSTEAD CHARGING THE CONSUMER $750. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE HAD A LONGER BRAKING DISTANCE. THIS OCCURRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. UPDATED 2/12/2007 - THE REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED ALTHOUGH THEY HAD LESS THAN 5000 MILES IN THEM. THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THE REAR BRAKE ARE DOING MOST OF THE BRAKING WHICH IS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLIDE RATHER THAN STOP. THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THEY THINK HIS DRIVING HABITS ARE THE CAUSE OF THE BRAKES WEAR SO QUICKLY. WHEN ROLLING DOWN THE RIGHT OR LEFT FRONT WINDOWS THE CONSUMER HEARD A GRINDING NOISE. THE TECHNICIAN LUBRICATED THE WINDOW GLASS RUNS. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH ON DRY FLAT ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE'S STEERING LOCKED UP AND SPUN OUT OF CONTROL INTO THE MEDIAN. THE VEHICLE SPUN COUNTER CLOCK WISE 360 DEGREES AND HAD EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE HOOD, LEFT FRONT FENDER, TIRE, AND HEADLIGHT. THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED UNDER NORMAL DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERS BODY SHOP FOR REPAIRS.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55MPH, THE AIR CONDITIONING FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED AS A HOLE IN THE CONDENSER UNIT OF THE AIR CONDITIONER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, THERE IS A ZAPPING NOISE COMING FROM BELOW THE STEERING WHEEL, ACCOMPANIED BY A SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN THE BRAKES LOCKED WHILE BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE SLID INTO A DITCH AND STRUCK A SMALL GUM TREE. THE MIDDLE PORTION ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE BODY SHOP REPAIRED THE VEHICLE, AND THE SENSORS SHOWED THAT THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SENSORS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 39,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. *AK
AS I WAS COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, PARKING, THE CAR SPED UP INVOLUNTARILY. I KEPT PRESSING ON THE BRAKES, BUT IT DID NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE UNTIL THE CAR WAS STOPPED BY HITTING A BUILDING. I WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALER INSPECTED THE BRAKES WHILE THE CAR WAS AT THE BODY SHOP, AND DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THEM. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED, AND I CONTINUED DRIVING IT. THE INVOLUNTARY ACCELERATION OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES AGAIN, BUT I DID NOT THINK ANYTHING OF IT BECAUSE I WAS NOT COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND IT ADJUSTED ITS SPEED AGAIN. UNTIL...I HAD ANOTHER ACCIDENT EIGHT YEARS LATER DUE TO NONE OTHER THAN INVOLUNTARY ACCELERATION. SEE A SEPARATE COMPLAINT.
ON MONDAY 06/05/06 AT AROUND 8:45 PM. AS I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY. I STARTED SMELLING SOMETHING LIKE GUN POWDER WHEN A FEW SECONDS LATER ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITH NO REASON WHAT SO EVER, THE SEAT BELT PULLED ME BACK AGAINST THE SEAT REALLY HARD. I DIDN'T CRASH, I DID NOT COME IN CONTACT WITH ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS. THANK GOD I DID NOT HAVE ANY INJURIES OTHER THAN A PAIN ON MY LEFT ARM DUE TO THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG LOCATED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DRIVER SEAT AND A SLIGHT PAIN ON MY LOWER BACK I THINK DUE TO THE SEAT BELT PULLING ME BACK SO HARD AS THE AIR BAGS WERE BEING EPLOYED. *JB

THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE A PROBLEM. THEN WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH ON A SLUSHY DOWNHILL ROAD THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND. THE VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE DRIVER RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE REPAIRS WERE MADE FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, WHICH WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM AS WELL. THERE WAS A ROUGH IDLE WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER AT TIMES. UPDATED 07/05/06. *JB
I DROVE A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. AFTER TWO DAYS OF PURCHASED WHICH WAS IN APRIL , 2005 I PULLED OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE MY LEFT FRONT TIRE WAS POPPED. I HAD IT REPLACED AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SENT ME TO ONE OF THEIR TIRE AFFILIATE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT MANUFACTURER FAULTS. FOUR OR FIVE MONTHS AFTER, I HEARD MY BRAKES MAKING THIS SCREECH LOUD NOISE SO I BROUGHT IN FOR THE DEALER TO TAKE A LOOK AT AND THEY HAD IT RE-DO ON THE BRAKE. LAST WEEK, BEGINNING OF MAY 2006. THE CAR BRING IN MY ATTENTION ON THE FREEWAY. WHEN I DRIVE AT 65 MILES, THE CAR WAS SHAKING, IT MOVES SIDE TO SIDE AND I DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH CONTROL WITH THE WHEELS. I BROUGHT IT IN AND THE DEALER HAD MY WHEELS ROTATE FOR ME. AND TODAY, THIS MORNING I DROPPED MY DAUGHTER TO HER BABY SITTER HOUSE AT 9:30 A.M. IT IS A BUSY RESIDENTIAL AREA SO I WAS DRIVING AROUND 15-20 MILES PER HOUR. I HEARD A VERY LOUD NOISE FROM MY CAR AND THE CAR WAS DRAGGING SOMETHING IN THE FRONT, RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE FOR FEW SECONDS AND THE CAR WAS DEAD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I COULD NOT START THE ENGINE AT ALL. SO I WENT OUT AND LOOKED. I SAW MY FRONT RIGHT SIDE CAR DROPPED ON IT'S OWN WHEEL WITH BLACK PIECES, BOLT, AND SILVER RING PIECE SCATTERED ON THE STREET. I LOOKED DOWN AND SAW MY FRONT RIGHT AXLE WAS BROKEN AND FELT DOWN ON THE STREET. THERE ARE NEIGHBORS WALKED BY AND SAW WHAT HAPPENED. I CALLED A TOWED TRUCK AND THEY CAME BY TO TOWED MY CAR TO THE NEARBY HONDA DEALER. WITH THE CONDITION THE CAR WAS IN. THE TOW TRUCK MAN TOLD ME THAT HE MIGHT HAD SCRAPED MY FRONT BUMPER BECAUSE MY CAR HAD VERY SMALL SPACE FOR THE LIFT OF HIS TRUCK TO GO UNDER AND LIFT UP THE CAR. WE MANAGED TO SECURED THE CAR AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WILL TAKE A LOOK AT IT. *NM
CONSUMER COMPLAINT CONCERNING THE GAS MILEAGE. *TS THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE BROKEN IN BEFORE THE GAS MILEAGE WOULD INCREASED. THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE CURRENTLY RECEIVES FROM 24.8 CITY/HIGHWAY TO 25.4. *NM
THE CAR JERKS WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE FRONT OF VEHICLE VIBRATES ANYTIME THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40 MPH. THERE IS A CATCH AND RELEASE FEELING SPEEDS BELOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE TURNED AT FIRST 17,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP. AS OF TODAY 8/8/2010, WHEELS HAVE NOT BEEN TURNED AND SAME VIBRATION EXISTS. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70MPH, IN NORMAL CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED. IT RESTARTED; HOWEVER, COULD NOT ACQUIRE A SPEED FASTER THAN 40MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. HOWEVER, THE DEALER CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WENT OUT JUST IN TIME TO EVADE THE WARRANTY ON THE CAR. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULDN'T COVER IT. IT WENT OUT AT 82,000 MILES AND IT'S ONLY COVERED TO 80,000. I DID HEAR THAT THIS WAS PREMATURE, BUT THAT IT HAPPENS ON THE HONDA ACCORDS. THE REPAIR IS PRICEY AS I BOUGHT IT IN CALIFORNIA AND THEY HAVE HIGHER ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS (THAT PART IS GOOD), SO YOU CAN'T BUY AN AFTER MARKET CONVERTER. THE COST WAS $1,100 AFTER INSTALLATION. THEY NEARLY PUT THE WRONG ONE ON IN NEW MEXICO AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP. LUCKILY, I CALLED MY OLD DEALERSHIP IN CALIFORNIA AS THEY WERE OUT OF STOCK HERE AND THEY SAID I HAD THE INCORRECT PART NUMBER. *TR
MY CAR IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH STABILITY CONTROL, BUT IT DOES HAVE TRACTION CONTROL, WHICH CAN BE DISABLED BY A SWITCH ON THE LEFT END OF THE DASHBOARD. THE TRACTION CONTROL SEEMS TO WORK WELL AT SPEEDS ABOVE 30 MPH, BUT WHEN STARTING OUT, IF THE CAR HITS A SLIPPERY PATCH, INSTEAD OF PULSING THE BRAKES TO KEEP THE WHEELS FROM SPINNING, AS THE CHRYSLER LHS I OWNED PREVIOUSLY DID, IT SIMPLY GIVES UP, CUTTING MOST OF THE ENGINE POWER, LEAVING THE CAR UNABLE TO GO MORE THAN 2 OR 3 MPH. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN CROSSING INTERSECTIONS WITH STOP SIGNS AND CAN EVEN CREATE A HAZARD WHEN THE INTERSECTION IS CONTROLLED BY A STOP LIGHT. IT CAN BE AVOIDED BY DISABLING THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM BEFORE HAND, BUT THE DISABLE BUTTON WON'T WORK IF UNLESS THE CAR IS AT A COMPLETE STOP, CREATING A PANIC SITUATION IF THE SYSTEM KICKS IN UNEXPECTEDLY. NO CAR SHOULD BE ALLOWED ON THE ROAD WITH A SYSTEM LIKE THIS, BUT MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT A NUMBER OF OTHER MAKES EXHIBIT THE SAME BEHAVIOR, POSSIBLY DUE TO A COMMON VENDOR. THERE ARE TRAFFIC DEATHS DUE TO IMPROPERLY TIMED INTERSECTION CROSSINGS EVERY DAY, AND GIVEN THE BEHAVIOR OF SYSTEMS LIKE THIS, I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT NO DEATHS HAVE RESULTED FROM IT. I'VE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO RECOGNIZE THE SYSTEM'S BAD BEHAVIOR AND DISABLE IT MORE OFTEN THAN I WOULD HAVE TO DISABLE A PROPERLY DESIGNED SYSTEM; THE AVERAGE DRIVER SHOULD NOT BE FACED WITH SUCH A BURDEN. PLEASE TAKE ACTION AGAINST ALL OF THE COMPANIES THAT ALLOWED A SYSTEM LIKE THIS TO GET ONTO OUR ROADS. PLEASE NOTE THAT I LISTED THE "DATE OF INCIDENT" AS THE FIRST OCCURRENCE I RECALL, BECAUSE A DATE WAS REQUIRED, BUT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING, AND I HAVE BEEN TAKING PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID IT, FROM THE TIME I GOT THE CAR IN 2006 UP TO NOW. THIS VEHICLE LURCHED TOWARD AND ACCELERATED AND WOULD NOT STOP EVEN WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. WE HAVE PHOTOS SHOWING THE TIRE IMPRINTS ON THE GARAGE FLOOR UP UNTIL IT IMPACTED WITH THE HOUSE. *JB

HONDA ACCORD COUPE (2005) NEWLY PURCHASED 8 MONTHS AGO. THE PROBLEM: THE CAMBER IS THE ANGLE AT WHICH THE TIRE ATTACHES TO THE CAR. INCORRECT ANGLE CAUSES IRREGULAR TIRE WEAR AND CREATES PULL ON STEERING. THE IRREGULAR TIRE WARE CAUSES INCREASED MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR AS WELL AS A DRIVING HAZARD. FINAL REPORT IS THAT THERE IS NOT A FIX AND HONDA WILL NOT REPLACE THE CAR. -THE DISCOVERY OF THE PROBLEM: THE CAR HAS BEEN PULLING TO LEFT. I ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THIS ALIGNED AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP (TIME OF CARS FIRST OIL CHANGE) THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO TEST ALIGNMENT AND ALSO DID NOT INFORM ME THAT THEY DO HAVE A WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH A COMPANY THAT DOES PERFORM ALIGNMENT IT WAS ALSO TIME FOR TIRE MAINTENANCE ACCORDING THE MANUAL. THE LOCAL SERVICE MANAGER OVER LOOKED THIS BECAUSE IT WAS NOT 'HIGHLIGHTED BY THE SYSTEM". SHE STATED THIS AFTER I INQUIRED ABOUT HAVING MY TIRES ROTATED, BALANCED AND ALIGNED. SHE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THEIR BALANCING MACHINE WAS OUT OF SERVICE AND SHE COULD NOT ASSIST ME, BUT THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET THINGS CORRECTED AT MY NEXT OIL CHANGE). -THEREFORE ON A FOLLOWING OIL CHANGE I WENT TO ANOTHER COMPANY FOR ALIGNMENT. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE CAMBER ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR WAS OUT OF SPECIFICATIONS AND PROVIDED A REPORT TO PROVE SO. I CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATION TO INFORM THEM OF THE PROBLEM. THEY ASKED THAT I HAVE ANOTHER TEST. I PAID FOR A SECOND REPORT SHOWING THAT THE CAMBER AND TOE IS OUT OF MANUFACTURING SPECIFICATIONS . AT THIS TIME THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NOT A 'FIX' FOR THIS ISSUE. - I REPORTED THE FINDING TO THE HONDA CORPORATION AND ASKED TO EXPLORE THE OPTION OF RETURNING THE CAR. THEY INFORMED ME TODAY THAT I CAN NOT RETURN THE CAR. THEY CAN NOT FIX THE CAMBER. -THE INITIAL ALIGNMENT INQUIRY WAS MADE PREVIOUS TO THE 12000 MILES DURING NORMAL SERVICE CONDITIONS. AC CONDENSER PRONE TO DAMAGE. WITH THE PLACEMENT OF THE CONDENSER, IT IS EASILY DAMAGED BY FLYING OBJECTS HITTING IT DURING THE DRIVE. I WENT TO THE DEALER TO DROP OFF MY CAR EARLIER TODAY TO CHECK ON THE AC PROBLEM AND THE FIRST THING THE SERVICE ADVISOR DID WAS LOOK AT THE CONDENSER AND SHOW ME THE MANY DENTS AND MARKS. HE SAID LIKELY, IT WAS HIT BY A LITTLE PEBBLE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON FOR THE CONDENSER TO BE DAMAGED SMALL FLYING OBJECTS. I ONLY HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR 1.5 YEARS. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED WITH A COLD ENGINE THE CAR WILL SURGE IN GEAR, ACCELERATING THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY. THE FREQUENCY OF THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. THE CAR WILL SURGE WITH ENOUGH FORCE THAT THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE ONE ORDINARILY EXERTS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO HOLD A CAR STATIONARY IS INSUFFICIENT. *NM

THE FAILURE WAS MORE PROMINENT IN COLD WEATHER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE BRAKE CANISTER AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 118,000.

VEHICLE WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS PURCHASED FROM HONDA OF PASADENA ON 7/22/05 (DELIVERY DONE ON 7/26/05). ON 10/10/05 VEHICLE DEVELOPED A MECHANICAL PROBLEM. ON 10/14/05 VEHICLE DELIVERED TO COLONIAL HONDA FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. THEY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILURE W/ EXTREMELY LOW FLUIDS, NO LEAKS. THEY TOPPED UP FLUIDS AND INDICATED THAT THE SYSTEM SHOULD FUNCTION NORMALLY. THEIR TRAINED TECHNICIAN NOTICED (AND POINTED OUT) EVIDENCE SOME BODY WORK AND REPAINTING DONE TO THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. HONDA OF PAS. HAD NEVER DISCLOSED TO ME THAT THE CAR HAD SUSTAINED ANY KIND OF DAMAGE OR REPAIRS PRIOR TO SALE OF THE CAR TO ME. THE CAR WAS SOLD AS BRAND NEW, NOT 'AS-IS'. THE LOCAL HONDA GARAGE HAS OFFERED TO REPLACE THE RADIO BUT INSISTS THAT THE PROBLEM IS IN THE ANTENNA DESIGN. THE RECEPTION IS TERRIBLE. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON INTERSTATE 285 IN TRAFFIC I HEARD A LOUD POP IN MY LEFT EAR AND MY SEAT BELT TIGHTENED TO AN UNBEARABLE TIGHTNESS. MY CAR FILLED WITH A POWDERY LIKE SUBSTANCE AND THAT'S WHEN I REALIZED THAT MY SIDE CURTAIN AND SEAT AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE HIGHWAY THAT I COULD HAVE HIT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE INSURANCE COMPANY, AND DEALER COULD NOT OFFER AN EXPLANATION AT THIS TIME. AN INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR, FIRE INSPECTOR, AND A REPRESENTATIVE FROM AMERICAN HONDA CAME TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. NO REPORT WAS ISSUED, BUT THE CONSUMER WISHED TO FILE A COMPLIANT. WE PURCHASED A NEW 2005 HONDA ACCORD EX-L (4 CYL) ON JULY 31, 2005. 3 WEEKS INTO OWNERSHIP, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN NORMALLY AT THE TIME. WE FOLLOWED THE OWNER'S MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS AND RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE ON 8/19/2005 (BANKSTON HONDA IN LEWISVILLE, TX). THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT RAN A COMPUTER TEST ON THE CAR AND CONFIRMED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG WAS NOT RECEIVING A SIGNAL, AND IN FACT WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. IN SHORT, THE AIRBAG WAS NON-FUNCTIONAL. THE DEALER HAD THE CAR UNTIL TODAY, 8/24/2005. THEIR FIX WAS TO "CLEAR THE CODE" AND MAKE THE LIGHT GO OFF. THEY CLAIM THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, AND WANTED TO RETURN THE CAR TO US. NO PARTS WERE REPLACED. THE LIGHT SIMPLY TURNED OFF AND THEY CONSIDER THAT "FIXED" I SUPPOSE. I INSISTED ON AN EXPLANATION, SINCE THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY ITEM. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IN HONDA ACCORDS, THE AIRBAG'S FUNCTIONALITY CAN BE COMPROMISED BY A CELL PHONE BEING IN THE CAR! IF THIS IS THE CASE, THE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED! THERE'S EVEN A SPECIAL POWER JACK BETWEEN THE FRONT SEATS FOR CELL PHONES. THERE'S NO TELLING HOW MANY HONDA DRIVERS ARE IN DANGER IF WHAT THE DEALER TOLD ME IS THE CASE. HOW CAN A CAR MANUFACTURER AND DEALER KNOWINGLY SELL A VEHICLE WHOSE PRIMARY SAFETY FEATURE DEACTIVATES BECAUSE THE OWNER IS CARRYING A CELL PHONE? WE LEFT THE DEALER WITH OUR CAR (8/24/05). ABOUT 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. WE IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO THE DEALER. THEY HAVE THE CAR AGAIN AND ARE GOING TO CALL "HONDA TECH" FOR ADVICE. I AM THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS VEHICLE AND AM ANGRY THAT WE AND THOUSANDS OF OTHER ACCORD DRIVERS COULD BE AT RISK OF INJURY/DEATH BECAUSE OF A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT HASN'T BEEN ANNOUNCED BY THE MFG AND REMEDIED. DT: THE MANUFACTURE DID NOT INCLUDE A SPARE TIRE IN THE VEHICLE. INSTEAD THEY INCLUDED A CAN OF SEALANT IN PLACE OF THE SPARE. THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATED THAT THE SEALANT MAY NOT WORK IF THE PUNCTURE WAS LOCATED OUTSIDE THE TREAD, THE PUNCTURE WAS WIDER THAN ABOUT 3/16 OF AN INCH, IF THE WHEEL RIM WAS DAMAGED, OR IF THE TIRE SEALANT HAS EXPIRED. ALSO, OWNER'S MANUAL ON PAGE 230 INDICATED THAT IF THE CONSUMER USED THE SEALANT IT MAY MAKE THE TIRE WARRANTY INVALID THE CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE HE FELT THAT THIS WAS AN INADEQUATE WAY OF REPAIRING THE TIRE. IS ALREADY TIME SOMEONE TAKE REAL ACTION AGAINST HONDA AND THIS PROBLEM THAT A LOT OF 05 ACCORD ARE HAVING. THIS PROBLEM WITH VERY STRONG VIBRATION FROM UNDER THE CAR. MAKING ANY TRIP UNPLEASANT. HAVE RESEARCH THE WEB AND THEY ARE HUNDRED OF ACCORD OWNER SUFFERING FROM THIS PROBLEM WITH NO ANSWER FROM HONDA. ONLY ANSWER IS ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THAT IS NORMAL WHICH IS NOT. THIS VIBRATION MAKES CAR POWERLESS. AT POINT DRIVING IN HIGHWAY THAT CAR BECOMES POWERLESS. GAS PEDAL HAVE TO BE PUSHED REALLY HARD JUST TO GET IT MOVING. HAD A FEW INCIDENT IN WHICH ALMOST GOT HIT BY OTHER CAR BECAUSE CAR JUST WOULDN'T PICK UP PROPERLY. *JB
ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED MY NEW VEHICLE MY LEATHER BEGAN TO BUCKLE AND HAD A VEIN-LIKE APPEARANCE. I HAVE TALK TO THE WARRANTY DEPARTMENT FOR HONDA WHO INDICATES THIS IS "CLEARLY A MATERIAL DEFECT". WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM, I WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE MONTHS TO GET THE NEW SEATS. I THEN TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO CONDITION THE LEATHER SO THE BUCKLING WAS MY FAULT. *JB
