AIR BAG FAILURE DURING CRASH OF 2006 HONDA ACCORD EX, VECHICLE ACCIDENT BETWEEN TWO CARS, ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED INTO MAIN TRAFFIC MY HONDA STRUCK SAID VEHICLE IN REAR QUARTER, HONDA THEN SPUN OFF INTO GUARD RAIL STRIKING LEFT FRONT SIDE.BOTH SIDE OF HONDA CRUSDED GEICO HAS TOTALED THE HONDA, THIS WAS AT 55 MPH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. GEICO HAS HONDA AT BRANDYWINE SALVAGE,PG,MD. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS ON GOING UNKNOWN ISSUE WITH MY INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS ON MY CAR. ON THIS PANEL, MY MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP LIGHT COMES ON SOME TIMES AFTER REFUELING BUT NOT A CAP PROBLEM AND STAYS ON FOR A FEW DAYS. THIS TIME THE LIGHT CAME ON WILE DRIVING BUT WAS NOT RELATED TO A REFUEL. ON PAGE 237 IN THE 2006, OWNER'S MANUAL IT EXPLAINS THAT THE LIGHT HAS TO DO WITH ONE OF THE ENGINE'S EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEMS MAY HAVE A PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD THIS LIGHT COME ON A FEW TIMES BEFORE AS WELL AS NOW AND THEN THE LIGHT GOES OUT ON ITS OWN A FEW DAYS LATER. I HAVE TAKEN PHOTOS OF MY INSTRUMENT PANEL WITH THE LIGHT ON. THE PHOTO ALSO SHOWS MY CURRENT MILES AT THE TIME WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON. I HAVE GIVEN THE PHOTOS TO MY SERVICE ADVISER #176 AT MARTIN MAIN LINE HONDA DEALERSHIP # 207980 IN ARDMORE PA 19003-2385. MY SERVICE ADVISER AS WELL AS MY TECH CANNOT FINE THE PROBLEM OR KNOW EXACTLY WHY THE LIGHT COMES ON. MY SERVICE ADVISER HAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN YOUR CAR EMISSION SYSTEM IS EMITTING FUMES THAT IT SHOULD NOT BE DOING, IN RETURN BREAKING A FEDERAL EMISSION LAW. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY MILES SOME TIMES AS MAY AS ABOUT 200 MILES WITH THIS LIGHT ON BEFORE. I JUST KEEP REPORTING THIS PROBLEM TO MY SERVICE ADVISER EVERY TIME THE LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE PUT 0 FAILURES BELOW BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS PART FAIL OR NOT. I ALSO BEEN HAVING OTHER LIGHTS COME ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL AS WELL ASIDE FROM THIS ONLY LIGHT. HONDA NEEDS TO BUY BACK THIS MODEL CAR IF THEY WILL NOT FIX THE MAJOR PROBLEMS WRONG WITH IT. *TR
THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) INDICATOR, VSA ACTIVATION INDICATOR, VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST (VSA) SYSTEM INDICATOR, PARKING BRAKE AND BRAKE SYSTEM INDICATOR, MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS COMES ON FOR NO REASON. FOR THE LIGHTS TO GO OUT I MUST TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON FOR THE LIGHTS TO GO OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED LIKE THREE OR 4 TIMES BEFORE WITH MY CAR. SAME PROBLEM ALL TIMES. MARTIN MAIN LINE HONDA DEALERSHIP # 207980 IN ARDMORE PA 19003-2385 CANNOT FIND / PULL ANY RELEVANT CODES FROM THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND ANYTHING PHYSICALLY WRONG WITH MY CAR FROM THE LIGHTS OR WHY THEY CAM AND KEEP COMING ON. I DID SHOW THE DEALERSHIP PHOTOS I TOOK OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WITH THE LIGHTS ON. THE DEALERSHIP HAS SEARCHED THE HONDA SERVICE TECH WEBSITE FOR ANY INFORMATION ON THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND NOTHING FROM HONDA. THE REGIONAL HONDA SERVICE REP WAS ASKED ABOUT THIS ON GOING PROBLEM AND HE SAID THAT HE COULD NOT DO ANYMORE THEN WHAT THE DEALERSHIP CAN DO ON THERE OWN. I NEED HONDA TO FIX THIS MAJOR PROBLEM. DRIVING MY 2006 HONDA ACCORD AT 55 MPH PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON HONDA DEALER CAN FIND NO REASON FOR DEPLOYMENT. TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. *TR
DASHBOARD LIGHTS SIMULTANEOUSLY INDICATE FAILURE IN: ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM, VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM, AND BRAKES. *TR
2006 HONDA ACCORD EX-L FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKING. FIRST INCIDENT 11-01-06. REPLACED BY DEALER. *JB
2004 HONDA ACCORD TRANSMISSION MELTED. CUSTOMER STATES WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND DID NOT HAVE ANY GEARS WITHOUT ANY WARNING. MECHANIC DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION IMPLODED. *KB THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE GEARS HAD MELTED.*JB
I NOTICED MY AIR CONDITIONER IN MY 2006 HONDA ACCORD WAS NOT BLOWING COLD AIR AND I MADE AN APPOINTMENTWITH A HONDA DEALER ON 8/13/07 AND WAS TOLD ROAD DEBRIS PUNCTURED MY A/C CONDENSER AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE GRILL DESIGN ALLOWS ROAD DEBRIS TO COME INTO AIR CONDITIONER. *TR
AN UNKNOWN ROAD DEBRIS (SMALL PEBBLE) STRUCK THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE (REGULAR EVENT), CAUSING AC UNIT TO FAIL. THE DEALER FOUND THAT A PEBBLE PUNCTURED A HOLE IN AC CONDENSER. THIS IS BRAND NEW CAR. REPAIR COST $700 AND IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. IN FACT, AC CONDENSER IS EXPOSED TO INCOMING FLOW AND IS NOT PROTECTED. APPARENTLY THE CONDENSER IS ALSO VERY FRAGILE. HONDA SAID THAT IT IS NORMAL. I THINK IT IS NOT. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED, AT LEAST BY PROVIDING FREE REPAIR OF THIS UNDUE DAMAGE. *JB
I WAS IN A HIGH SPEED MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH ALONG WITH A COWORKER THAT I CAR POOL WITH IN THE 2006 ACCORD WHEN A DOG RAN OUT IN FRONT OF THE CAR AT 4:30 AM ON THE HIGHWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK. I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 70-75 MPH, BRAKED AND SWERVED, BUT STILL HIT THE DOG AT HIGH SPEED. THE DOG WAS OF MEDIUM TO LARGE SIZE APPROXIMATELY 60-70 LBS AND CAUSED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER. I THEN LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR, WENT OF THE ROAD , AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED AT LEAST 3 TIMES. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED A GREAT AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER AS WELL AS TO THE ENTIRE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR, YET NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I WAS TOLD BY MY HONDA DEALERSHIP THAT "THE SENSORS FOR THE AIRBAGS WERE VERY SMALL AND MUST BE HIT DIRECTLY IN ORDER FOR THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY, SO THE SENSORS MUST NOT HAVE BEEN HIT JUST RIGHT , AND THERE WAS PROBABLY NO REASON TO BE CONCERNED. HOWEVER, ANYONE WHO SAW THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR, INCLUDING STATE TROOPERS, EMS, TOW TRUCK DRIVERS, AS WELL AS FAMILY AND FRIENDS, ALL STATED THAT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED IN THIS INSTANCE. I DID NOT FIND THAT THESE AIRBAGS TO BE VERY BENEFICIAL IF WHAT THE PERSON AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP SAID WAS TRUE. BOTH MY PASSENGER AND I SUFFERED WHIPLASH, BACK AND NECK STRAIN, AND MILD CONCUSSIONS, THANKFULLY THAT WAS ALL. HOWEVER I COULD NOT HELP BUT WONDER IF THE AIRBAGS WOULD HAVE SAVED US FROM THE INJURIES WE DID SUSTAIN. THE CAR WAS TOTALED BY INSURANCE COMPANY . THEREFORE, NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE. I AM DEBATING WHETHER TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA REGARDING A POSSIBLE DEFECT IN AIRBAG SENSORS.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ACCORD. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE. ON ONE OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE BRAKES LOCKED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SLIDE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS DISCOLORED AND CONTAMINATED. THE TECHNICIAN FLUSHED THE BRAKE LINES TWICE AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE BRAKE CALIPERS. THE CONTACT CALLED AN INDEPENDENT TECHNICIAN AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENTIRE BRAKE COMPONENT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND IS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
2006 HONDA ACCORD AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER DAMAGED FOR 3RD TIME. CAR HAS TOTAL 35,000 MILES. DEALERSHIP SAYS THE CONDENSER WAS DAMAGED BY FLYING DEBRIS. SOUNDS LIKE A RECALL ISSUE FOR HONDA. HONDA OF COURSE REFUSES TO FIX AT THEIR EXPENSE. POOR DESIGN, RECALL. *TR
THE IGNITION KEY IS STUCK AT POSITION 1 OF 3 AND CANNOT BE RETURNED TO 0. I AM UNABLE TO GET THE KEY OUT IN ANY GEAR POSITION AND OTHERS HAVE TRIED AS WELL AND ARE UNABLE TO RETRIEVE THE KEY.*AK
?VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN 2 ACCIDENTS OSEVERE DAMAGE TO RIGHT SIDE OWAS REAR-ENDED WHILE STOPPED AND IN PARK ?WHEN VEHICLE WAS RETURNED OWITHIN 1ST DAY OR SO, WHEN ROLLING TO A STOP AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE CAR WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE RATHER THAN STOP. CONSTANT STRONG PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES WAS REQUIRED TO STOP THE CAR; AFTER GOING AGAIN, THE CAR UNSTUCK FROM ACCELERATION MODE 'I DO NOT KNOW IF THE VEHICLE WAS COLD OR WARM FOR THIS INCIDENT 'THIS EVENT OCCURRED WITHIN 3-4 MINUTES OF STARTING THE CAR OA FEW WEEKS LATER THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN 'THIS TIME THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR 30 MINUTES AND PARKED FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS 'THIS ?EVENT? OCCURRED WITHIN 3-4 MINUTES OF STARTING THE CAR OWE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE BODY SHOP AND THEY HAD IT CHECKED OUT BY POWAY HONDA. NO PROBLEMS WERE IDENTIFIED AND NO PROBLEM CODES WERE FOUND OA MONTH OR SO WENT BY WITHOUT INCIDENT OTHE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN, THOUGH WITH A DIFFERENT DRIVER, ON 8/15 THIS TIME THE CAR WAS WARM AND THE ?EVENT? OCCURRED NEAR THE END OF THE TRIP. *TR
AT ABOUT 15K MILES STARTED TO FEEL WOBBLE IN THE WHEEL AND CAR WHEN BRAKES APPLIED CONTINUED TO GET WORSE, HAD TO REPLACE PADS AND ROTORS WITH AFTERMARKET ONES OF BETTER QUALITY. *TR
2006 HONDA ACCORD - A/C CONDENSER BROKE TWICE DUE TO ROAD DEBRIS, TOLD NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS A RARE OCCURRENCE - HOWEVER I SEE SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM. WITHOUT AC WINDOWS FOG UP ON RAINY HUMID DAYS AND VISIBILITY IS IMPAIRED. TOTAL DESIGN FLAW ON BEHALF OF HONDA AND THEY SHOULD RECALL THE ITEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ACCORD LX. AFTER DRIVING A MILE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED TO BLOW COLD AIR. THE FAN WAS ACTIVATED, BUT NO COLD AIR WAS PRODUCED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS A PUNCTURE IN THE CONDENSER. SHE ALSO HAD A PRIVATE MECHANIC INSPECT THE VEHICLE, BUT NO HOLE WAS FOUND IN THE CONDENSER AT THAT TIME. THE CONTACT CALLED HONDA HEADQUARTERS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FAILURE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 14,700 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THREE TIMES. FIRST TIME DEALERSHIP SAID COMPUTER NEEDED UPDATING, CLEARED THE CODE. THE NEXT DAY IT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT START. DEALERSHIP CLAIMED IT WAS THE ALARM. LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AGO IT CAME ON AGAIN WHEN I WAS OUT OF STATE. DEALERSHIP TESTED IT, AND DETERMINED IT WAS A BENT CYLINDER HEAD, THEY GUESSED IT WAS CAUSED BY BAD SHIFTING, BUT FREEZE DATA SHOWED I WAS ONLY GOING 45 MPH AT 1300 RMPS. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. HONDA HAS BEEN STALLING FOR 26 DAYS. *AK
2006 HONDA ACCORD EX L 4DR SEDAN. AIR CONDITIONER (A/C) BLOWS WARM AIR. DEALER SAID A/C CONDENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. VEHICLEWAS 8 MONTHS OLD AND HAS 11000 MILES. HONDA CUSTEMER SERVICE NOT HELPFUL.*AK
I WAS DRIVING IN THE RIGHT LANE OF AN EXPRESS WAY AND EXITING ONTO THE EXIT RAMP. MY 2006 HONDA ACCORD WAS ACCELERATING, SO I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN TO NO AVAIL. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AT AN ACCELERATED RATE, SO I CONTINUED TO PUMP AND PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE CAR WAS NOT STOPPING AND STILL CONTINUED GOING FORWARD. WITHIN SECONDS I WAS AT THE TOP OF THE RAMP?WHERE I QUICKLY OBSERVED 3 ROWS OF CARS (ON THE LEFT SIDE) WAITING AT THE RED LIGHT. AT THAT POINT, I REALIZED THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP AND I DID NOT WANT TO HIT ANY OF THE CARS WAITING AT THE RED LIGHT?SO I DIRECTED THE CAR STRAIGHT AHEAD AND BEYOND THE 3 ROWS OF WAITING CARS TO AVOID HITTING THEM?AND HOPING I WOULD HIT A POLE TO STOP THE CAR. THE NEXT THING I REMEMBER I AWOKE, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WAS SHATTERED, I HAD SHATTERED GLASS ON MY BODY, THE AIR BAGS HAD ALREADY DEFLATED, AND SOMEONE WAS YELLING TO OPEN MY DOOR. THIS, I COULD NOT DO?AND I JUST SAT THERE. THEN SOMEONE JAMMED THE DOOR OPEN?AND I WAS PULLED OUT TO A WAITING AMBULANCE. OTHER CARS WERE HIT AND THERE WERE SERIOUS INJURIES. HONDA: WHY DID THIS HAPPEN? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BRAKES?TO MAKE THEM MALFUNCTION WHEN I KEPT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL CONTINUALLY? WE ARE CURRENTLY TRYING TO FIND THE CAUSE. *JB
VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT 02/2006. TO DATE THE ODOMETER IS READING MORE THAN 30,546 MILES. MY DAILY COMMUTE TO MY JOB ROUND TRIP. IS APPROX 76 MILES DAILY. MY PREVIOUS CAR WAS A TOYOTA HYLANDER. IT WAS BOUGHT IN AUGUST 2002. WHEN I TRADED THAT CAR IN TO COGGINS HONDA IT HAS A TOTAL OF 57,816 MILES AND IT RAN A ROUND TRIP AND A HALF FROM NEW YORK TO FLORIDA AND BACK. IT WAS BOUGHT IN FLORIDA AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO NEW YORK VIA THE AUTO TRAIN WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR THIS HONDA CAR WILL HAVE DOUBLED ITS MILEAGE. THE MATS IN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE APPEARS THAT SOMEONE ELSE WAS IN USE OF THIS CAR. IT IS HIGHLY IMPOSSIBLE THAT I WILL BE KEEPING THIS CAR MUCH LONGER. I NEED AN EXPLANATION FOR THE DEALER WHY THIS ODOMETER SEEM AS IF IT SET ON SPRINGS LIKE THE ENERGIZER BUNNY, IT JUST KEEPS RUNNING ON AND ON WITH NO INTENT ON REGULATION. THANKS, LORNA INGRAM *TR
TOOK A ROAD TRIP ON I40E TO WINSTON SALEM (3 HR. EACH WAY), WHILE DRIVING BACK THE AC STOPPED WORKING. TOOK IT TO APPLE TREE HONDA AND THEY STATED A ROCK HAD PUNCTURED THE CONDENSER AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS COST OVER $400.00 TO REPAIR, AND IS A MAJOR FRONT END DESIGN FLAW, THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO RECALL ALL OF THESE VEHICLES AND PUT COVERS OVER THE HOLES IN THE FRONT GRILL AREA. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, IT IS A $200.00 FIX OR LESS FOR THEM, AND I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER HONDA FOR $28K WHEN THEY CAN'T EVEN CORRECT THEIR OWN MISTAKES. *TR

BEFORE THE FAILURE THE CONTACT HAD BEEN LISTENING TO THE RADIO WITH THE ENGINE OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. THE CONTACT CALLED AAA, AND THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. AAA STATED THAT THE BATTERY WAS DESIGNED FOR A HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BATTERY. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK

THE CONSUMER STATED SHARDS OF GLASS WERE ALL OVER THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE - DASHBOARD, FRONT AND BACK FLOORS, THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED GLASS WAS IN HER HAIR, NECK AND BACK OF SHOULDERS. THE CONSUMER PROVIDED PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE AND THE INVOICE FOR REPAIRS. UPDATED 05/21/07 *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW RATTLES. THE DEALER LUBRICATED THE WINDOW. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER DOES NOT BLOW COLD AIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR WAS NOT COLD BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS BLACK AND THE FILTER WAS CLOGGED. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5.
THE TRUNK LID, WHEN OPENED, DOES NOT ALWAYS STAY UP. OCCASIONALLY, AFTER THE LID HAS BEEN OPENED, IT WILL START TO CLOSE. IN AT LEAST TWO OR THREE INSTANCES, THE LID CAME DOWN AND HIT ME ON THE UPPER FOREHEAD. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE DUE TO A MARGINAL STRENGTH SPRING THAT MAY BE DUE TO A DESIGN DEFECT OR A DEFECTIVE SPRING. *JB
I PURCHASED A NEW 2006 HONDA ACCORD 4 DOOR EX-V6 IN DEC. 2005 VIN-[XXX]. ON 2-20-2007 I WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WITH ANOTHER CAR, I SUSTAINED DAMAGED FRONT BUMPER, HOOD, DRIVER'S SIDE FENDER, RADIATOR. THE PROBLEM IS THAT MY AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. BOTH MYSELF AND MY PASSENGER WERE WEARING SEAT & SHOULDER BELTS AND WERE NOT HURT. THIS VEHICLE HAD NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE THE ACCIDENT ON 2-20-2007. HONDA DEALER IDENTIFIED THAT CAUSE OF AIR CONDITIONER FAILURE TO BE A STONE STRIKING THE CONDENSER CAUSING FLUID LEAK. DEALER CONVEYED THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. CONDENSER SHOULD BE BETTER PROTECTED OR STRONGER TO PREVENT ROAD DAMAGE. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SUPPOSED TO GET 33 MPG. THE VEHICLE DID NOT EVEN GET 25 MPG ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE BOTH 9624. WHEN DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON THE FREEWAY THE ENGINE JUST SLOWED DOWN EVEN WHEN SHE WAS ACCELERATING, AND IT STRUGGLED AS THOUGH IT NEEDS TO BE SHIFTED INTO ANOTHER GEAR. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT IT MAYBE THE MAIN COMPUTER CHIP THAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IT WAS NOT DOING WHAT THE CONTACT SAYS IT WAS DOING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT ESPECIALLY DID IT WHEN IT ALMOST TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE. *AK
BRAKES GRAB SUDDENLY WHEN APPLIED, BRINGING CAR TO AN ABRUPT STOP AND JERKING THE OCCUPANTS FORWARD. DEALER HAS REVIEWED TWICE. TOLD WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS. ON DEALERS SUGGESTION CALLED HONDA AMERICA. REPRESENTATIVE SCOTT TOLD ME NOTHING COULD BE DONE. PUT HIM ON NOTICE OF SAFETY PROBLEM ,COMPLAINT #N012007-04-2401645. *JB
I BOUGHT MY 2006 HONDA ACCORD IN APRIL LAST YEAR. ON JUNE 2006, MY A/C CONDENSER HAD A LEAK DUE TO "ROAD DEBRIS". HONDA DEALER WOULDN'T COVER THIS BECAUSE "ROAD DAMAGE" IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THEY CHARGED ME $700 TO REPLACE A NEW A/C CONDENSER. LAST WEEK, I TRIED TO TURN ON MY A/C AND FOUND OUT THE AIR WAS NOT COLD AT ALL. I TOOK MY ACCORD BACK TO THE DEALER AND LEARNED THAT I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER TOLD ME A SMALL PEBBLE MIGHT DAMAGE THE CONDENSER CAUSING ALL THE FREON TO LEAK. I REPLACED TWO A/C CONDENSERS WITHIN A YEAR. I HAD DRIVEN MANY OTHER CARS IN THE PAST AND NEVER HAD MY A/C CONDENSER BREAK DOWN BECAUSE OF A SMALL PEBBLE. HONDA ACCORD HAS A DESIGN FLAW ON THE VENTING SYSTEM AND SHOULD TAKE ACTION TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE MAIN PROBLEM OF THE VENTING SYSTEM IS IT DOES NOT PROTECT THE A/C CONDENSER FROM THE SMALL OF PEBBLES OR DEBRIS. THE LOCATION OF THE A/C CONDENSER ALLOWS THE TUBING EXPOSED IN FRONT OF THE FINS WHERE IT IS LIKELY TO BE HIT. ANOTHER IMPROVEMENT ON THE A/C CONDENSER IS USING A STRONGER MATERIAL ON THIS PRODUCT SO IT IS NOT THAT FRAGILE. THE HONDA MANUFACTURER SHOULD REPLACE MY A/C CONDENSERS AND IMPROVE THE DESIGN OF THE VENTING SYSTEM. *NM

A WIGGLE A SHAKE OR WHAT EVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT GET THIS FIX FREE....VIN#THAT START WITH 1HG OR 3HG ARE ELIGIBLE FOR BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT AND TURNED ROTORS FREE. HONDA KNOWS BUT REFUSE TO GIVE THE INFORMATION OUT I HAD TO GET A COPY OF THE REPORT AND TAKE IT TO THEM BEFORE THEY FIXED FOR FREE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS. *TR
BOUGHT 2006 ACCORD SEDAN IN AUG 2006. UPON TAKING CAR HOME NOTICED 'ORANGE PEEL' LIKE DISTORTION IN WINDSHIELD. TOOK BACK TO DEALER. THEY FIRST CLAIMED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM, FINALLY AFTER MUCH ARGUING THEY ADMITTED IT WAS THERE AND REPLACED IT. NEW WINDSHIELD IS WORSE. IT HAS WAVY PATTERN IN THE GLASS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF. WENT BACK TO DEALER, THEY SAW IT, THEY THEN CALLED IN FACTORY REP. HE SAYS "THEY ALL HAVE IT" AND REFUSED TO TAKE ACTION. FACTORY LINE IS THAT ALL HONDA'S SINCE 1990 HAVE THIS PROBLEM. TOLD HIM THAT'S BULL SINCE THIS IS THE 3RD HONDA I'VE BOUGHT SINCE 1990 AND NONE OF THE OTHERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. NEITHER DOES ANY OTHER BRAND (TOYOTA, VOLVO) CARS THAT I OWN HAVE IT.*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ACCORD EX. WHILE DRIVING, THE ALARM AND THE HORN AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATED FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. AS A RESULT, OTHER DRIVERS SEND RUDE SIGNALS TO HER AND SHE FEELS THAT THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE HONDA DEALER IN HER AREA AND A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. SHE ALSO NOTIFIED HONDA'S REGIONAL OFFICE WHO STATED THAT HER VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE. HONDA ADVISED HER TO GO TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND USE THE KEY IN ORDER TO STOP THE FAILURE. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 25,564 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
PASSENGER OUTSIDE MIRROR EXPLODED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IF THE PASSENGER WINDOW HAD BEEN DOWN IT WOULD HAVE HIT MY DAUGHTER IN HER HEAD. WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED I STOPPED THE CAR AND PICKED UP THE MIRROR, THERE WAS NO OTHER CARS OR NOTHING AROUND THAT COULD HAVE HIT THE MIRROR, IT MADE A VERY LOAD NOISE BUT NO OTHER DAMAGE WAS DONE OTHER THAN MIRROR CAME FLYING INTO IN THE SIDE WINDOW AND THEN HIT THE GROUND. ALL OTHER PARTS ON THE MIRROR ARE IN PLACE AND FINE, ONLY THE CENTER MIRROR PARTS FELL OFF THE CAR. I TOOK IT BACK TO HONDA TO TELL THEM THE MIRROR FELL OUT AND THE SERVICE MANAGER LEFT ME STANDING THERE AND DIDN'T COME BACK, HE NEVER GOT MY NAME. I ASKED THE DESK BOY WHERE HE HAD GONE AND HE PAGED HIM AND THE SAID THAT HE WOULD CALL ME, HE DIDN'T KNOW WHO I WAS, MY NAME OR WHO THE OWNER OF THE CAR WAS SO HOW IS HE GOING TO CALL ME. BRAND NEW, ONLY HAD THE CAR 2 WEEKS. *JB
WHEN VARIOUS PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKES THE RPMS INCREASE AND THE CAR SURGES FORWARD. THIS IS A RANDOM OCCURRENCE THAT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 OR 6 TIMES SINCE I HAD THE CAR NEW IN SEPTEMBER 2006. *AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION TO KEEP IT FROM SURGING FORWARD. THE DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. UPDATED 10/31/2006 -*NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT, THE ENGINE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. THE ENGINE REVVED UP TO 5500 RPMS. THE CONTACT PUT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM SURGING FORWARD. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS RARELY USED AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO PROBLEMS REGARDING THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE REVVED AT AN ACCELERATED RATE AND LURCHED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THIS PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT IN NATURE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH PRODUCED NO FAILURE CODES, ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. UPDATED 11/9/2006 - IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS USER RELATED. WHENT HE BRAKE PEDAL DECENDED BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE CONSUMER'S FOOT CONTACTED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV. *NM
I PURCHASED MY 2006 HONDA ACCORD IN NOVEMBER 2005. I NOTICED A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO THAT I HAVE A VIBRATION IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD TO TAKE THE REAR ROTORS OFF AND SAND THEM DOWN. I WAS PERPLEXED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 13,000 MILES ON IT. ACCORDING TO HONDA STANDARDS, THAT IS NOT EVEN A BREAK IN PERIOD. I HAVE ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY ALARM SYSTEM THE COUPLE OF MONTHS I HAD IT, BUT THAT PROBLEM HAS BEEN REMEDIED. SINCE THEN, I NOTICED MY HEADLIGHTS DIM ON OCCASION AND I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS IS A "NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC" OF THE VEHICLE. IT AMAZES ME HOW SENSITIVE THIS CAR IS. I THOUGHT THE SITUATION WITH THE BRAKES WAS IMPORTANT TO LOG A COMPLAINT. THIS IS MY THIRD HONDA, AND THIS IS THE VERY FIRST TIME I HAD TO TAKE A HONDA TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR OTHER THAN AN USUAL SERVICE. I AM NOT VERY HAPPY ABOUT THIS. I AM AT THE POINT WHERE I AM THINKING ABOUT GETTING RID OF THE VEHICLE AND IT IS NOT A YEAR OLD YET. *NM
I WAS MERGING ONTO AN EXPRESSWAY AND I SHIFTED INTO 3RD GEAR TO ACCELERATE TO THE SPEED OF (HEAVY) TRAFFIC. THE TRANSMISSION POPPED OUT OF GEAR AND I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED BY A TRACTOR TRAILER (THAT WAS GOING TOO FAST). I HAD TO SWERVE OVER TO THE SHOULDER TO AVOID THE COLLISION. THIS POPPING OUT OF GEAR, AND DIFFICULTY SHIFTING INTO GEAR HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THREE YEARS AND OCCURS 3 OR 4 TIMES A MONTH. AFTER THIS NEAR MISS, I TOOK THE CAR INTO GET IT SERVICED (THIS WAS IN 2006). I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THIS WAS NORMAL FOR THIS TRANSMISSION AND THAT THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY CLOSE CALLS (AS BAD AS THE FIRST ONE) SINCE, BUT I HAVE LEARNED TO FORCE THE CAR INTO 3RD GEAR EVERY TIME. I HAVE ALSO HAD MY SHARE OF HORNS DIRECTED AT ME DUE TO DELAYED ACCELERATION. RECENTLY, I DID AN INTERNET SEARCH ON "3 GEAR ACCORD 6 CYLINDER MANUAL" AND ONE OF THE RESULTS WAS HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 08-020. THIS BULLETIN COVERS MY 06 ACCORD AND IS FOR "TRANSMISSION GRINDS WHEN SHIFTING INTO 3RD GEAR, POPS OUT OF 3RD GEAR, OR IS HARD TO SHIFT INTO 3RD GEAR, NOTE: THESE SYMPTOMS CAN BE INTERMITTENT AND SOMETIMES MORE NOTICEABLE IN COLDER CLIMATES. FAULTY 3RD GEAR SYNCHRONIZER OR SHIFT SLEEVE" SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE MY PROBLEM SO I WENT TO THE DEALER TODAY TO HAVE IT CORRECTED. THE DEALER WENT FOR A TEST DRIVE AND COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM (IT CAN GO FOR OVER A WEEK WITHOUT SHOWING UP), HE SAID HONDA'S POLICY WAS UNLESS THEY COULD SEE THE PROBLEM HONDA WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE ANY REPAIRS TO BE MADE. SO HONDA HAS FOUND A PROBLEM WITH THEIR TRANSMISSION (THE ONE THAT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE A COLLISION), RELEASED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON HOW TO FIX IT, BUT REFUSES TO DO ANY REPAIRS UNTIL THIS 3 OR 4 TIMES A MONTH INTERMITTENT PROBLEM STARTS TO FAIL OFTEN ENOUGH FOR IT TO FAIL WHILE THE DEALER IS ACTUALLY DRIVING THE CAR. MEANWHILE EVERYONE WITH THIS TRANSMISSION IS PLACED IN HARMS WAY. *TR
2006 HONDA ACCORD WINDSHIELD IS WAVY AND DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF. THERE WAS ALSO A TIRE BLOW OUT. *KB THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER. THEY BOTH CLAIMED THE WAVY WINDSHIELD WAS DUE TO THE AERODYNAMICS. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKES ROARED AND VIBRATED WHEN GOING DOWN A STEEP INCLINE. THE DEALERSHIP SWITCHED OUT THE PADS ON 6-06. THIS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A MONTH. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIR.
1) NEW WHEEL BEARING AT 10,768 MILES 2) NEW TRANSMISSION AND REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT OF SAME SHIFT CABLE AT 10,791 MILES (SERVICE TECH ACKNOWLEDGES THE NOISE ON THE WORK TICKET) 3) ROTATE AND BALANCE OF TIRES DUE TO A SERIOUS VIBRATION PROBLEM IN THE STEERING WHEEL AT 10,791 MILES 4) RESURFACING OF ORIGINAL ROTORS, 4-WHEEL ALIGNMENT DUE TO NOISE AT 11,002 MILES 5) REPLACEMENT OF OLD ROTORS WITH NEW ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS AT 11,184 MILES. WE CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY ALL THIS WORK HAS BEEN PERFORMED ON OUR VEHICLE IF EVERYONE NOW STATES THAT THEY CANNOT HEAR THE GRINDING NOISE. WE HAVE MADE MULTIPLE GOOD FAITH ATTEMPTS (5 LOGGED WHICH INCLUDES THE FINAL ATTEMPT, AND 1 NOT LOGGED), TO HAVE OUR CAR REPAIRED CORRECTLY. AT THIS TIME, WE ARE ONLY LEFT WITH THE ROUTE OF ARBITRATION PROCEDURES OR BE LEFT WITH A SUBSTANDARD HONDA PRODUCT. *NM
DRIVING OUR 2 MONTH OLD 2006 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN EX SPECIAL EDITION ON A STRETCH OF SMOOTH ROAD THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING LOST AIR. WE HAD NOT SEEN ANYTHING IN ROAD, HIT A POTHOLE OR CURB OR ANYTHING ELSE. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING INFLUENCED THE TIRE TO BLOW. UPON INSPECTION OF THE TIRE A 1.5 INCH HOLE WAS IN THE SIDEWALL. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE ROAD THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS EVENT. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD OUT OF TRAFFIC AND CHANGE THE TIRE WITHOUT FURTHER COMPLICATIONS. TWO MICHELIN AUTHORIZED TIRE COMPANIES TOLD ME THAT WE MUST HAVE HIT SOMETHING THAT CAUSED THE PUNCTURE AND THAT MICHELIN WOULD NOT OFFER ANY WARRANTY ON THE TIRE. I WAS STUNNED THAT THIS COULD BE POSSIBLE ON A 2 MONTH OLD TIRE WITH LESS THAN TWO THOUSAND MILES ON IT AND WITHOUT ANY IDENTIFIABLE EVENT THAT MIGHT HAVE CAUSED THE TIRE TO FAIL. I AM VERY PLEASED THAT THERE WAS NO RESULTING CRASH BUT I AM NOT HAPPY THAT I HAD TO SPEND ALMOST $200.00 TO REPLACE A TIRE ON MY NEW CAR WHEN I BELIEVE THERE WAS NOT ANY WAY I COULD HAVE AVOIDED IT. IF I HAD HIT A POTHOLE, CURB OR ANYTHING, IF THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF SOMETHING IN THE ROAD OR EVEN IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING AGGRESSIVELY I COULD UNDERSTAND IT, BUT THERE IS NO REASON IN MY MIND THAT THIS TIRE SHOULD HAVE FAILED NOR SHOULD I HAVE HAD TO PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT. I AM NOW CONCERNED ABOUT THE OTHER 9 MICHELIN TIRES ON OUR HONDAS ( WE PURCHASED TWO ACCORDS IN JULY) AND OUR SAFETY WHILE DRIVING THE CARS. *JB

IT WAS FIRST THING IN THE MORNING , HAD DRIVEN IT LATE THE PREVIOUS EVENING. THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON , THE CAR BUCKED WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE . I DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. ASKED ME IF I "TOPPED OFF" AT THE GAS STATION. I DID IN FACT TOP OFF THE LAST FILL UP. I WAS TOLD THAT COULD MAKE THE ENGINE LIGHT GO ON. NOW I HAVE A RENT A CAR. THEY NEED TO ORDER A NEW PART. V TEC. I HAVE ALWAYS TOPPED OFF AT THE GAS STATION. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD OR WARNED NOT TO DO THAT WITH THE NEW HONDA'S IF IN FACT THAT IS THE REASON FOR THIS. *JB
LOW SPEED PARKING LOT ACCIDENT, AIR BAG DEPLOYED. PROPELLANT WAS NOT PROPERLY VENTED AND CAUSED 2ND DEGREE BURNS FROM THE THUMB TO THE ELBOW. **NM
SAME ANNOYING GLASS WITHIN THE INSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR OCCASIONALLY STARTS MOVING RAPIDLY UP AND DOWN WITHIN THE PLASTIC HOUSING WHILE DRIVING AND EVEN OVER THE SMALLEST PARKING LOT SURFACE CRACKS. THIS IS CONSTANT FOR A FEW MINUTES OF HALF OF THE ENTIRE TRIP. MAKES THE REARVIEW ALMOST USELESS AND ALSO THE DRIVER POSSIBLY DIZZY. SURPRISED THAT MAKING THE REARVIEW UNEXPECTEDLY USELESS ISN'T ENOUGH OF A SAFETY ISSUE TO DRAFT SOME ATTENTION. MY DEALER LOOKED AT ME LIKE I WAS CRAZY AND DENIED ANY POSSIBILITY OF HOW THIS COULD BE TRUE, INTERMITTENTLY. ZONE REP USELESS. I FOUND THIS SIMILAR COMPLAINT, THANK GOD I AM NOT ALONE - AND LOOK SAME MODEL AND YEAR ! - CUT AND PASTED IT HERE : COMPLAINT NUMBER: 10159064 SUMMARY: DURING HOT WEATHER THE MIRROR SECTION OF THE INSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR BECAME LOOSE AND BEGAN TO VIBRATE, I PUSHED ON THE MIRROR SECTION AND IT MOVED BACK AND FORTH IN THE PLASTIC HOUSING. IT BECAME VERY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING, AND ALSO THE VEHICLES I COULD SEE IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR WERE DISTORTED AND NOT CLEARLY SEEN. I TOLD THE DEALER, THEY IN TURN CALLED THE ENGINEERS, WHO TOLD MY SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM, TO FIX THE PROBLEM THE DEALER SAID THEY HAVE TO INSTALL SOME SPACING MATERIAL TO STOP THE MIRROR FROM VIBRATING. THE ENGINEERS SAID HEAT CAUSE THE SPACER HOLDING THE MIRROR EXPANDS DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT. *JB
