TAKATA RECALL, EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, VTC ACTUATOR LOUD GRINDING ON START UP COLD OR WARM!!!!! HONDA WOULD NOT FIX BECAUSE I WAS 15,000 MILES OVER THEIR GRACE PERIOD. I ASKED FOR GOOD WILL AND A BIG COMPANY THAT HONDA IS SURE WON'T GO BANKRUPT FIXING MY CAR.... BUT THE GIRL I TALKED TO WAS SOME WHAT RUDE TO ME AND JUST ASKED IF I WANTED THE BETTER BUSINESS BEAU PHONE NUMBER. THEIR NEEDS TO BE A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE VTC ACTUATOR, BECAUSE SOONER OR LATER I WILL HAVE ENGINE FAILURE AND HONDA KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE READ 90% OF THE 2008 4 CYLINDER ACCORDS HAVE THE PROBLEM AND SOME OF THE NEWER MODELS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. AND I HAVE HEARD THEY WILL REPLACE THE PART, AND SOON AFTER IT DOES IT AGAIN!!!! DEFECTIVE PART!!!! I HOPE I CAN GET SOME HELP, BECAUSE HONDA KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND I CANT AFFORD A NEW ENGINE WHEN THE TIMING CHAIN GOES AND EVERYTHING WITH IT!!!! THANK YOU.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT HEARD A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED EVERY MORNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VTC ACTUATOR CONTROL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,838.
AT A FULL STOP PASSENGER EXITED THE VEHICLE AND SHUT THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR AND THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS AND FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE FORCE OF THE AIRBAGS BEING DEPLOYED ALSO DAMAGED THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR WEATHER STRIP THAT CREATES A SEAL WHEN DOORS CLOSE. HEADLINER IS DAMAGED AS WELL. SEAT BELT ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HAS BEEN DEPLOYED AND IS NON FUNCTIONING. *TR
DEFECT IN ENGINE WITH VTC ACUATOR. AT COLD START THE ENGINE RATTLES LOUDLY FOR ABOUT 2-5 SECONDS. HONDA CLAIMS THERE IS STILL NO FIX FOR PROBLEM. SEE HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 09-010.I FEEL VEHICLE WILL BECOME UNSAFE TO DRIVE IF THERE IS AN ENGINE FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OVER A METAL OBJECT IN THE ROADWAY AND CAUSED A FAILURE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS INDEPENDENTLY DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED AS A RESULT OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING SOUND EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE KNOCKING SOUND COULD BE HEARD FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR AN OIL CHANGE WHICH STOPPED THE KNOCKING SOUND. AFTER 2000 MILES THE FAILURE RECURRED, AND THE OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT REPLENISHED THE VEHICLE WITH 2 QUARTS OF OIL, AND THE KNOCKING SOUND STOPPED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
MY CAR WAS LEAKING FLUID WHICH I WAS UNAWARE. MY STARTER WENT OUT AND THE DEALER SAID THAT THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LEAKING SO BAD IF I DID NOT REPAIR IT THERE COULD BE AN ENGINE FIRE AS WELL AS DAMAGE TO THE ALTERNATOR. HE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING PUMP BECAUSE HE SAID THAT THE LEAK WAS TOO BAD TO JUST REPLACE THE O RING AND HOSE. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO MOSS MOTORS IN LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA FOR THE REPAIR. I BELIEVE THAT SINCE I ONLY HAD 70,000 MILES ON MY CAR THAT THIS POWER STEERING SYSTEM IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT AND SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
APPROXIMATELY AT 9PM 2 APRIL 2015, MY SON WAS GETTING READY TO DRIVE HOME FROM WORK IN HIS 2008 HONDA ACCORD WHEN HIS DRIVERS-SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED HITTING HIM IN THE HEAD. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR SIDE COLLISION INVOLVED. HE WAS PARKED IN THE CLARKSON PUBLIC LIBRARY PARKING LOT. THE SAFETY RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS ARE ONLY UP TO 2007. AFTER THIS, THEN THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER THE 2008 MODELS. *TR
THE ENGINE BURNS OIL TO AN EXCESSIVE DEGREE. I HAVE TO ADD APPROXIMATELY 2+ QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 3000 THOUSAND MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT, WHERE AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC LIFTED THE HOOD, AND STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MOSS MOTORS (337-235-9086, LOCATED AT 1407 LA 728-8, LAFAYETTE, LA 70501) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. PRIOR TO THAT FAILURE, THE SAME DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING PUMP AND THE STARTER IN 2015 WHEN THE STEERING PUMP LEAKED AND DESTROYED THE STARTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND OFFERED A FORTY PERCENT DISCOUNT TOWARDS THE COST OF THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.
MY SON WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND DID NOT MAKE A TURN AND RAN INTO A CONCRETE BLOCK WALL AT ABOUT 50 MPH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY....UPDATED 05/14/15 *BF UPDATED 09/16/2015 *JS UPDATED 12/21/2015*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIRBAG THAT WAS IN POSSESSION OF NHTSA NO LONGER BELONGED TO THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO A CONFIDENTIAL SETTLEMENT. THE ENGINE OF MY HONDA ACCORD 2008 STARTED TO HAVING THE RATTLE AND SCRATCHING SOUND WHEN IT REACHED 32000 MILES. THE ENGINE ALSO STARTED TO FAIL AS THE RATTLE SOUND GETS SERIOUS. I CALLED HONDA USA MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT THEY SAID THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR WAS MADE IN 2008 AND I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT IN 2016. I THINK HONDA USA IS TRYING TO AVOID THIS DEFECT OF ACCORD 2008, SINCE NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE REPAIR SERVICES AT DEALERSHIP AND TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A 55,000 MILE POINT INSPECTION. HOWEVER, THE DEALER PERFORMED OTHER WORK SHE DID NOT REQUEST. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS INSTALLED, THE VEHICLE PERFORMED EVEN WORSE. THE VEHICLE SHOOK IN A VIOLENT MANNER. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT ALIGNED PROPERLY AND FAILED TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE WHEELS WERE NOT ALIGNED ADJACENT. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE WHEELS NEEDED TO BE ALIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
2008 HONDA ACCORD EX-L MODEL I-4 ENGINE (2.4L) STARTED EXCESSIVELY BURN OIL IN ENGINE AFTER 2,000 MILE WITH NEW ENGINE OIL CHANGED. AFTER NEW ENGINE OIL CHANGED, EVEN THE INDICATOR OF OIL VISCOSITY INDICATE 60% REMAIN (HONDA HAS THE SYSTEM), WHEN OIL CHECKED, OIL VOLUME SHOWS UNDER MINIMUM OIL LEVEL. IT MAKE ME VERY WORRY ABOUT ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION SO QUICKLY AS UNUSUAL TO COMPARE OTHER CARS IN MY EXPERIENCE. WHEN I WENT TO CHECK ANY EVIDENCE OF OIL LEAKING AT 2-DIFFERENT LOCAL OIL SHOP, WE COULDN'T FIND ANY OIL LEAKING EVIDENCE. THIS IS 2ND TIME THAT HAPPENED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO THE CUSTOMER. ONE OF MY COLLEGE HAS 2008 HONDA ACCORD COUPE (2.4L), HE HAS SAME PROBLEM. HE IS CHANGE ENGINE OIL EVERY 2,000 MILE DUE TO BURNING ENGINE OIL ISSUE (NO CLUE OF LEAKING) I CHECKED THIS ISSUE VIA WEB SITE AND FIND THAT THE ARTICLE " AMERICAN HONDA SETTLES CLASS-ACTION SUIT OVER OIL-BURNING CLAIM FOR HONDA V6 ENGINE ONLY" ON AUTOMOTIVE NEWS (OCT.22.2013) BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THE ARTICLE SAYS THAT ACCORD VEHICLES WITH FOUR CYLINDER ENGINES ARE EXCLUDED FROM THE SETTLEMENT" I AM WONDER WHY HONDA ACCORD 2.4L ENGINE GOT THIS EXCLUSION FROM ENGINE OIL BURNING SO QUICKLY. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE OIL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND FLASHED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CURTISS RYAN HONDA (333 BRIDGEPORT AVE, SHELTON, CT 06484) WHERE AN UNKNOWN ACTUATOR WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE RECEIVED OIL CHANGES AT 3,000 MILES INTERVAL AND NOT 5,000 MILES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DUE TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION THE VEHICLE RECEIVED OIL CHANGES AT 2,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON FEB. 20,2015 A COMPLETE CRASH IN THE FRONT SIDE OF MY HONDA ACCORD 2008 (HOOD,BUMPER,2 FRONT FINDERS,HEAD LIGHT) IT WAS A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS AND THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY, SO I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY CHEST AND THE SEAT BELT LOCKED ON MY SHOULDERS SO NOTHING STOPPED ME FROM BEING INJURED. HOW HONDA ONE OF THE BIGGEST POPULAR CARS DON'T CARE ABOUT THE LIFE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. ....I FELT REALLY BAD OF THAT. I'M SEEKING REAL HELP FROM U GUYS TO SUPPORT AND KEEP THE UNITED STATES SAFE FROM THIS INHUMANITY MANUFACTURING DEFECTS WHICH KILLED AND INJURED MANY PEOPLE. I VISITED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN STERLING, VA A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND HAD TO GET MY BRAKES REPLACED. AT THAT TIME I ASKED IF THEY COULD FIX MY BACK DRIVER'S SEAT..(MY DAUGHTER WHO IS 10 GOT INTO THE CAR ONE DAY AND KICKED THE BACK SEAT BY ACCIDENT WITH HER FOOT AND IT FELL) I WAS TOLD THEY COULD FIX IT AND THEY COULD DO IT THAT DAY BECAUSE THEY HAD THE PLASTIC CLIPS IN STOCK BUT IT WOULD COST AN ADDITIONAL $197.00 (I CAN'T REMEMBER EXACT AMOUNT) BUT I TOLD THEM I WAS PAYING A LOT OF MONEY ALREADY FOR REPLACING MY BRAKES AND I COULDN'T AFFORD RIGHT NOW AND TOLD THEM I WOULD BE BACK. THE GUYS TRIED TO GET THE CLIP TO HOLD (AND I WAS VERY THANKFUL) BUT AS SOON AS I PULLED OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP IT FELL AGAIN. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE AND THERE WAS ONE MAN IN PARTICULAR WHO WAS VERY HELPFUL AND I WISHED I HAD HIS NAME TO TELL YOU. SO, I HAD AN APT TODAY AT 9:15 AND GOT THERE AT EARLY AT 8:50. THE GUY FINALLY CAME BACK TO ME ABOUT 10:30 OR SO AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIX THE BACK SEAT BECAUSE THE WAY THIS WAS BUILT WASN'T DONE PROPERLY AND THESE THIS WILL JUST KEEP BREAKING. HE SAID I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE SEAT BACK AND THE COST WOULD BE $335.00 PLUS TAX AND SHOP SUPPLIES. REALLY? I SAID THEN WHY WASN'T I TOLD THIS WHEN I WAS HERE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A DEFECT IN THE FIRST PLACE? HE SAID SORRY I JUST FIX THE CARS I DON'T MAKE THEM. HE WAS VERY NICE A POLITE BUT I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS AT ALL. I ASKED HIM .... WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME WHEN I WAS HERE BEFORE AND HE REPLIED BECAUSE OF MY MONEY RESTRAINTS. MY FIANCE GOT OUT OF MY CAR AND CLOSED THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. AS SOON AS THE DOOR SLAMMED THE CURTAIN I HEARD A LOUD BAG AND LOOKED OVER TO FIND THAT THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF IN MY CAR. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS IN THE BACKSEAT OR THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY THE EXPLOSION. *TR
WAVED ON AS CLEAR TO GO BY THE PERSON LOOKING THE ONLY WAY TRAFFIC COULD BE LEGALLY COMING; MY WIFE PROCEEDED TO ATTEMPT TO CROSS AN INTERSECTION. UNBEKNOWNST TO HER AND THE PERSON THAT WAVED HER IN AN ALL CLEAR MANNER WAS THAT SOMEONE WAS SPEEDING DOWN THE MIDDLE OR TURNING LANE IN THE SAME DIRECTION THAT STOPPED TRAFFIC WAS FACING AND HIT HER AT AN ESTIMATED SPEED OF 50 MPH. HE HIT HER FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AND SPUN HER AROUND STRIKING THE VEHICLE A SECOND TIME. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND MY WIFE WAS TAKEN IN A C-COLLAR BY AMBULANCE TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL. WHEN THE EYE INJURY WAS DISCOVERED TO BE BEYOND THE SCOPE OF THE ER TEAM AT THE INITIAL HOSPITAL SHE WAS TRANSPORTED DOWNTOWN TO A TRAUMA CENTER TO HAVE HER EYE EVALUATED FOR RETINAL TEAR OR OTHER TRAUMA. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. NOT FRONT OR SIDE CURTAIN NOT PASSENGER NOR DRIVER'S SIDE. MY WIFE'S HEAD HIT MULTIPLE TIMES, DOOR WINDOW TWICE AND STEERING WHEEL TO THE BEST OF HER RECOLLECTION. BLACK EYE AND VISUAL DISTURBANCE THAT HAS YET TO RESOLVE FIVE DAYS LATER. CULPABILITY ASIDE I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAGS ON OUR VEHICLE DID NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH OF THAT MAGNITUDE. .. MY AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON AND THE ALARM DOESN'T GO OFF WHEN THE SEAT BELT ISN'T PUT ON. I JUST BEGAN TO HAVE TROUBLE STARTING THE VEHICLE. NOW I CAN'T START IT AND I'VE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MY HOME.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. WHEN LOCAL HONDA DEALER CHECKED IT OUT WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE SRS CONTROL UNIT. WAS TOLD IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN ASKED WHAT CAUSED IT, WAS TOLD THAT IF THE CAR WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT THEY DIDN'T KNOW. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I PULLED OVER TO LET MY SON OUT OF MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD VEHICLE, HE WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. WHEN HE CLOSED THE DOOR THE PASSENGER SEAT AND PASSENGER CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. ONCE I REALIZED WHAT THEY WERE, I GOT OUT TO CHECK ON MY SON BECAUSE I THOUGHT WE HAD BEEN HIT. THERE WAS NO VEHICLE OR EXTERIOR DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A HONDA DEALER. IT WAS INSPECTED AND PHOTOS WERE TAKEN. AFTER A WEEK OF NO DIRECT ANSEWERS FROM THIS DEALER, I DECIDED TO CONTACT AMERICAN HONDA. ANOTHER INSPECTION WAS SCHEDULED AND THEY DETERMAINED THAT THERE WAS "RIM DAMAGE" (CAUSED FROM PARKING TOO CLOSE TO THE CURB) AND THAT COULD HAVE "POSSIBLY" CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. I WAS NOT PARKED NEXT TO THE CURB WHEN THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND I HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH THERE FINDING. *TR
ENGINE RATTLES LOUDLY FOR 2 SECONDS UPON COLD START. ONLINE SEARCHES REVEAL THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE VTC ACTUATOR AND A TSB HAS BEEN ISSUES (NHTSA #10087883). MECHANIC SAYS COULD RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE IF NOT FIXED. I FEEL THAT HONDA SHOULD PAY FOR THIS REPAIR ON MY VEHICLE.

ON 12/22/2014, MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD LX (WHICH HAS 98,300 MILES ON IT) WAS TOWED INTO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER. THE REASON FOR MY HAVING IT TOWED INTO MY LOCAL DEALER WAS DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY ENGINE FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET DRIVE TWO MILES FROM MY HOME. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO INDICATION WHATSOEVER THAT MY ENGINE WOULD FAIL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT GO ON, THERE WAS NO OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED, ETC. THUS I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND TRIED TO GIVE THE CAR SOME GAS AND THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE ' THUS I ROLLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CONTACTED A TOWING COMPANY. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE CONTACTED ME VIA PHONE AND LET ME KNOW THAT THERE WAS NO COMPRESSION IN CYLINDER 2 AND THAT I LIKELY NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. THE INITIAL ESTIMATE WOULD BE $6,000 FOR A CAR WITH A BLUE BOOK VALUE OF $6,500 (DEALER TRADE IN.) I HAVE ALL SERVICE RECORDS AND FAITHFULLY SERVICED MY VEHICLE AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE REP ALSO EXPLAINED THAT I WAS LOW ON OIL AND I REVIEWED MY RECEIPTS TO DETERMINE THAT I CHANGED MY OIL 2600 MILES EARLIER. ONLY THING DEALER SAID WAS TO RETURN AND LEAVE CAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS, THAT THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT IS CAUSING THIS. I HAVE NOTICED ON 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THAT WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKE THE ACCELERATOR IS ALSO ACTIVATED. WHEN I GOT HOME I DECIDED TO CHECK MY OIL LEVEL AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS PRACTICALLY NO OIL ON THE DIP STICK!! I PUT 2QTS OF OIL IN THE CAR AND THE NEXT MORNING TOOK THE CAR IN TO HONDA SERVICE. THE REP INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR A 2008 HONDA 4CYL TO REQUIRE A QT OF OIL EVERY 1 THOUSAND MILES. REALLY? THIS IS NOT A 1975 CAR!! HE SAID THAT THIS WAS WITHIN HONDA SPECS. MAYBE HONDA MAKE UP A STORY AND STICK WITH IT SPECS BUT THAT IS NOT NORMAL FOR A NEWER CAR!! I KNOW THAT THERE WAS A FIX FOR 6CYL MODELS BUT HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE FOR 4CYL MODELS AS WELL. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY 2015 AND THE ISSUES WHICH I HAVE FACE ARE: POOR(WORN) STRUTS, AXLE(OUTPUT SHAFT) SEAL LEAK, VTC ACTUATOR WHICH THE DEALER DOES NOT WANT TO HONOR THE WARRANTY DEFECT, AND POOR MOTOR MOUNTS. IN ADDITION, THE STRUTS CAUSED ONE OF THE TIRES TO POP DUE TO A BUMP ON THE TIRE, AND THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE BUMP ON THE TIRE WHICH AGAIN IS DUE TO THE STRUTS BEING BAD.

HAD CAR SERVICED ON 11/13/2014----HONDA TECH INDICATED CODE OF 1018, PER TECH-INDICATES OPEN OR SHORT IN SYSTEM, HE WAS NOT SURE WHERE FAILURE IS--AND NOT SURE WHAT FEE WOULD BE TO LOCATE AND REPAIR FAILURE. SAID IT COULD RUN INTO THE $100'S JUST TO LOCATE FAILURE. RECENTLY I NOTICED THAT MY ENGINE IS CONSUMING MORE AND MORE OIL. I ROUTINELY GET MY OIL CHANGED EVERY 3,000-5,000 MILES AS SUGGESTED IN THE MANUAL. THIS LAST TIME, I WAS AT THE 2,000 MILE MARK WHEN MY OIL LIGHT FLASHED; I SAY FLASHED, BECAUSE THE LIGHT DID NOT STAY ON, RATHER IT WOULD GO ON ONLY WHEN I TURN A CORNER. CLEARLY THERE IS AN ISSUE AS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN INITIATED BY PEOPLE WHO HAD TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT THEMSELVES. FIRST, CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SPENDING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS A YEAR TO MAINTAIN OIL IN THEIR CAR DUE TO HONDA'S ERROR. SECOND, THIS ISSUE CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FREEZE/LOCK-UP WHILE OPERATING WHICH IS A MAJOR CONCERN WHILE DRIVING. I DO NOT DRIVE EXCESSIVELY EITHER, I HAVE A 10 MINUTE COMMUTE TO WORK.
