EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2010 I QUICKLY REALIZED THAT THERE WAS A HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM WITH IT BECAUSE I HAVE HAD TO CONSTANTLY PUT IT MORE OIL BEFORE THE NEXT OIL CHANGE. FINALLY, IN 2012 I TOOK IT A HONDA DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED. BUT I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG AND NO RECALL. AGAIN DECEMBER 2014, LAST YEAR, I HAD AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE AT THE SUGGESTION OF HONDA BU THE CORPORATE GATEKEEPER TOLD ME I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND MY PROBLEM WILL NOT BE COVERED. GUESS WHAT? SEPTEMBER 2015, I RECEIVED WARRANTY EXTENTION NOTICE FOR HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION DUE TO A STICKING PISTON. THE CATCH IS THAT IT WAS ONLY FOR 125000 MILES WHEN I HAVE ALREADY REACHED 153000 MILES. I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD COVER MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I WAS ALREADY IN THE SYSTEM.
DRIVER TRAVELING SPEED LIMIT ON INTERSTATE 40 OUTSIDE KINGMAN, AZ. DRIVER DRIFTED OFF THE ROAD, OVER CORRECTED, AND STRUCK A WOODEN POST AT THE END OF GUARDRAIL, CAUSING CAR TO LEAVE THE ROADWAY. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, LEADING INSURANCE INVESTIGATORS CONCERNED. INSURANCE ADJUSTORS FELT THE CAR COULD BE FIXED UNTIL A LARGE HOLE WAS DISCOVERED IN THE TRANSMISSION. CONCERN TO ALL WAS THAT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.

WITH NO IMPACT OR APPARENT REASON THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON. ONE HONDA DEALER TOLD ME THAT NO AIR BAGS WOULD DEPLOY IF IN AN ACCIDENT AND ANOTHER HONDA DEALER TOLD ME THAT ALL THE AIR BAGS WOULD DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. BOTH ADVISED AGAINST FIXING AS VERY EXPENSIVE TO DETERMINE REASON FOR LIGHT. I DRIVE A LOT AND DO NOT WANT TO PUT MYSELF OR MY FAMILY IN DANGER. PLEASE HELP
MY AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINED ON SO I GOT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST FROM POHANKA HONDA. THIS OCCURRED BEFORE THE SRS RECALL WAS ISSUED. HONDA SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE MY SRS UNIT ALONG WITH MY GAUGE CONTROL MODULE BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T COMMUNICATE WITH ONE ANOTHER. HONDA WAS GOING TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR & LABOR FOR $1,200. I DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY BUT WAS CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY SAFETY SO I ORDERED THE PARTS AND GOT IT REPAIRED OUTSIDE THE DEALERSHIP. HERE'S THE ISSUE, I WAS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR PARTS ($500) BUT HONDA MANUFACTURE ONLY WILLING TO REIMBURSE ME FOR JUST THE SRS UNIT ($200) AND NOT THE GAUGE CONTROL MODULE ($300). I BELIEVE THE RECALL SHOULD ALSO COVER THE GAUGE CONTROL MODULE SINCE THE CODE THAT WAS DISCOVERED BY THE HONDA TECHNICIAN REVEALED THE GAUGE CONTROL MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. SINCE I FOLLOWED GUIDANCE BY POHANKA HONDA, I'M WITHOUT $300 BECAUSE THE RECALL ONLY COVERED THE SRS UNIT. IF POHANKA HONDA WOULD HAVE COMPLETED THE REPAIR FOR $1,200, HONDA MANUFACTURE WOULD HAVE REIMBURSED ME FOR $1,200. I BELIEVE I'M BEING PENALIZED BECAUSE THE GAUGE CONTROL MODULE ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE RECALL.
ON THE 3RD OF SEPTEMBER THE DOOR WAS CLOSED, AND ALL PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, MY GRANDSON WAS IN HIS CAR SEAT, BUT SUFFERED NO HARM. THE CAR WAS PARKED.

THE ENGINE RATTLES AT COLD START-UP. SINCE APPROXIMATELY SEPTEMBER 1, 2015, THE ENGINE ON MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD EX-L (4 CYLINDER) HAS CREATED A LOUD RATTLE EVERY TIME UNDER COLD START-UP CONDITIONS. THE NOISE GOES AWAY AFTER APPROXIMATELY 2 SECONDS AND THE ENGINE SMOOTHS OUT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A HONDA DEALER FOR ANOTHER ISSUE IN JANUARY 2016 AND ASKED THEM TO INVESTIGATE THE COLD START-UP NOISE, BUT THEY CLAIMED THAT THE NOISE DID NOT OCCUR WHEN THEY STARTED THE VEHICLE. I QUESTIONED WHETHER THEY TRIED TO START IT UNDER COLD ENGINE CONDITIONS AND THEY SAID THEY HAD. I RECENTLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER AND THEY WERE ABLE TO HEAR THE RATTLE AT COLD START-UP AND SUGGESTED THAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING CONTROL (VTC) ACTUATOR. HONDA ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (09-010) BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET A HONDA DEALER TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE.

TAKATA RECALL. DEALERSHIP HAS CLAIMED THEY DON'T HAVE THE NECESSARY PARTS TO FIX THE AIRBAGS FOR OVER A YEAR.

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED LEG, KNEE, NECK, AND BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT BODY SHOP WHERE THE BODY DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE, AND THE NOISE WAS GONE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
AUG 2015 HEARD A RATTLING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. CHECKED THE DIPSTICK AND THE ENGINE WAS ALMOST OUT OF OIL. THIS WAS IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AT 3700 MILES. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND HAD AN OIL CHANGE. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM HONDA ABOUT OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES. I BEGAN THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WITH THE DEALER. SO FAR, TWICE IT HAS BEEN DOWN .75 QTS. OVER 5K MILES THAT WOULD PLACE THE ENGINE DOWN 3.75 QTS OR ALMOST DRY, BUT HONDA SAYS THAT'S NORMAL AND I SHOULD BE ADDING OIL MYSELF. THAT IS RIDICULOUS!!! WHY SEND OUT THE NOTICE AND EXTEND THE WARRANTY THEN. HONDA KNOWS THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE, BUT DOES NOTHING TO FIX THE ISSUE. I'VE READ THAT IT IS WORN PISTON RINGS DO TO A VCM TIMING ISSUE. WHY IS THAT THE CUSTOMERS PROBLEM? THE SETTLED THIS OWNERS OF THE V6, BUT TOLD OWNERS OF THE 4CYL TO POUND SAND. THIS ISSUE REQUIRES A RECALL. THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST HONDA ACCORD.
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT ABOUT THE OIL CONSUMPTION EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS ISSUE BEGAN A YEAR AGO. ON 8/15/2015, HONDA OFFERED AND EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE PISTON/VCT ISSUE THAT CAUSED THE CAR TO CONSUME TOO MUCH OIL. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SAYS.."IF THE VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION, CONTACT ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER FOR AND APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT INSEPECTED AND, IF NEEDED REPAIRED. PLEASE PLAN TO LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE AT THE DEALER FOR TWO FULL DAYS TO ALLOW THEM FLEXIBILITY IN SCHEDULING." THIS QUOTE IS RIGHT FROM THE WARRANTY. A YEAR LATER AND HONDA WILL NOT HONOR THIS WARRANTY. WHAT THEY DO IS MAKE THE CAR HAVE A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. IF THE CAR IS NOT BURNING MORE THAN A QUART IN 1000 MILES THEY SAY ITS NOT A PROBLEM. HONDA MALL OF GEORGIA CLAIMED MY CAR IS BURNING 3/4 OF A QUART THEREFORE THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM. AROUND 7/1/2016, I HAD MY OIL CHANGED AT GWINNETT PLACE HONDA. I AM 1000 MILES AWAY FROM HAVING MY NEXT OIL CHANGE AND THE "GRINDING" NOISE HIT MY CAR AGAIN. MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I CHECKED AND WAS DOWN TO 2QUARTS OF OIL. I HAD TO ADD TWO QUARTS. BRINGING CAR IN TODAY 9/7/2016 TO START YET ANOTHER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. HONDA KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE, YET WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANRTY!!!!! THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO GET NHTSA OFF OF ITS BACK YET WRITES UNWRITTEN RULES THAT PROTECTS THEM FROM FIXING THE ISSUE. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IS USELESS UNLESS THEY FIX THE ISSUE.

THE ENGINE, VSA, AND TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. MY MECHANIC SAYS THAT THE AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE APPEARS TO BE FAULTY AND THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE CASE OF A CRASH.
LOUD CRANKING NOISE WHEN COLD STARTING THE CAR REGARDLESS OF DATE OF LAST OIL CHANGE. HONDA INFORMED ME IT WAS THE VTC ACTUATOR, WHICH IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BASED ON ONLINE COMPLAINS, BUT STILL NO RECALL. MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS SAME COMPLAINT AT VARYING DEGREES OF MILEAGE.
AT ABOUT 68,000 MILES, I BEGAN HEARING A DISTURBING MECHANICAL RATTLE ON COLD STARTS. IT GOT WORSE AND WORSE UNTIL A RECENT TRIP TO MY HONDA DEALER CONFIRMED I HAVE THE VTC (?) VALVE RATTLE PROBLEM, AND IT IS "CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW BY HONDA." FROM MY RESEARCH ON HONDA OWNERS FORUMS, THIS AFFECTS A LARGE NUMBER OF MODELS FROM 2008 ON, AND HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW. I WAS TOLD THIS ISSUE DOES NOT AFFECT ENGINE PERFORMANCE OR LONGEVITY, BUT IT IS DISCONCERTING TO HAVE SOUNDS LIKE THIS EMANATING FROM MY ENGINE EVERY DAY (IT NOW HAPPENS EVERY TIME I START THE CAR). A CALL TO HONDA CONFIRMED HONDA KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY ARE "STILL WORKING ON A SOLUTION" (I DON'T KNOW FOR HOW MANY YEARS NOW). AND NO, THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME, NO COMPENSATION OR EVEN A FIX I COULD POSSIBLY PAY FOR. I WOULD LIKE TO GET RID OF THE CAR BEFORE SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENS, BUT NO BUYER WILL PAY MARKET VALUE FOR IT WITH THIS CONDITION. I AM ALSO WORRIED ABOUT SAFETY BECAUSE THIS ISSUE COULD CAUSE AN ENGINE SEIZURE WHILE DRIVING. THE PROBLEM KEEPS GETTING WORSE AND I NO LONGER TRUST HONDA IS TELLING THE TRUTH.

I PURCHASED NEW TIRES ABOUT A YEAR AGO. TIRES HAD LESS THAN 30,000 ON THEM. BACK TIRES STILL HAD 90% TREAD BUT GETTING A VIBRATION. TOOK CAR TO THE BODY SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR END OF MY VEHICLE WAS BADLY OUT OF ALIGNMENT.. I COULD SEE IT WITH MY NAKED EYES. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE REAR TIRES CAN NOT BE ALIGNED. THERE IS NO WAY TO ADJUST THE CAMBER ON THE BACK TIRES, SO NO MATTER WHAT YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE VIBRATION AND ALWAY UNEVENLY WHERE YOUR TIRES. ONLY WAY I CAN SEE TO FIX THIS, IS TO INSTALL ADJUSTABLE CAMBERS, BUT IF THIS IS A DESIG FLAW AND HONDA ALREADY ACKNOWLEDGED IT WITH A SERVICE BULLETIN ADDRESSING THERE HONDA CIVICS, THEN WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE FIX. I AM TOTALLY DISGUSTED WITH HONDA.

AFTER A MULTIPLE POINTS INSPECTION THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE "SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG" WAS NON FUNCTIONAL AND REPLACEMENT WILL COST $526.00. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY KIND OF ACCIDENT OR INCIDENT WERE THE AIR BAGS COULD HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED. THE MECHANIC WAS VERY CAREFUL NOT TO SAY THE AIR WAS DEFECTIVE. HOW A PART THAT HAS NEVER BEEN USED COULD BE NON FUNCTIONAL?
