LOUD SCREECHING NOISE COMING FROM PASSENGER SIDE REAR BRAKES. SCREECHING CONTINUED TO GET LOUDER SO I BROUGHT IT INTO HONDA EXPECTING THE ISSUE TO BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS NEEDED REPLACING AND THE SENSOR WAS WORN OUT. HE SAID HE HAS BEEN REPLACING LOTS OF PADS ON THE NEW ACCORDS AND THAT THEY SEEM TO BE PREMATURELY WEARING OUT. AFTER SEARCHING THE WEB I FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS DEFECT. *TR
MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD HAS REAR BRAKE PAD FAILURE AFTER ONLY 24K MILES. LOOKING ONLINE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH OWNERS OF THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2008 HONDA ACCORD A YEAR AGO. WITH LESS THAN 30K MILES I WAS FACED WITH REPLACING THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS, COSTING A TOTAL OF $400. I'M THE MOTHER OF 4, SO SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT. MY PRIOR CAR WAS A 2003 HONDA CIVIC IN RETROSPECT, WORKMANSHIP WAS FAR SUPERIOR TO THE ACCORD. WHEN I NOTIFIED MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER I WAS BOUNCED BETWEEN SALES AND SERVICE. IF I WERE TO RATE THEM ON CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, THEY WOULD FAIL. I'M WRITING IN HOPES HONDA WILL RECALL THIS MODEL AND UPHOLD THEIR 'FORMER' STELLAR REPUTATION. SIGNED A DISGRUNTLED CONSUMER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE BRAKES LOCKED UP. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE SERVICE BRAKES:HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, INCLUDING THE ROTORS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 24,000.

2008 HONDA 4 CYL. ACCORD EX - PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR. HAD TO REPLACE REAR PADS/ROTORS AFTER ONLY 25K MILES, WHICH WERE ALL HIGHWAY MILES. PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2000 ACCORD, WITH EXACT SAME DRIVING PATTERN AND ONLY REPLACED EVERY 70K MILES. AT THIS RATE, I WOULD BE SPENDING AN ADDITIONAL $3-4K IN BRAKE MAINTENANCE TO GET 250K MILES! THIS NEEDS A RECALL AND/OR REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
2008 HONDA ACCORD, THAT IS NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD. I BOUGHT THE CAR JULY OF 08 AND I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED SQUEAKY BRAKES. I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKES WERE JUST WEARING IN. IT CONTINUED TO SQUEAK EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE WHEN I WOULD BRAKE. A COUPLE DAYS AGO I HEARD THIS AWFUL SCREECHING NOISE COMING FROM MY REAR PASSENGER TIRE. I CALLED HONDA SERVICE AND EXPLAINED THIS TO THEM AND THE LADY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN IT WAS PROBABLY JUST A LITTLE ROCK STUCK UP IN THERE, NO BIG DEAL RIGHT! NOT!!! NOW THEY TELL ME YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKE PADS, WHICH WOULD COST JUST UNDER $200.00 FOR THEM TO DO. INSTEAD I JUST BOUGHT THE HONDA BRAND BRAKE PAD FROM THE DEALER FOR $65.00 AND HAD MY BOYFRIEND INSTALL THEM. THIS IS JUST A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE. THERE IS NO WAY THAT ANY REAR BRAKE PADS SHOULD BE GOING OUT ON A BRAND NEW CAR THAT HAS ONLY JUST OVER 20,000 MILES ON IT. EVERY ONE THAT I TALK TO SAYS WOW THAT WAY UNUSUAL AND NOT RIGHT AT ALL! NOTHING CAN BE DONE. WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER THIS ISSUE AND THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE BRAKING SYSTEM. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS!! IT'S JUST NOT FAIR. *TR

TOOK CAR IN TO A HONDA SERVICE CENTER FOR A "MINOR" SERVICE MAINTENANCE. WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER REAR BRAKES ARE WORN AND WON'T LAST TILL NEXT OIL CHANGE 3,000 MILES. SINCE I USE THIS FOR MY JOB OF VISITING PATIENTS AT HOME, I FELT AT RISK IF I DIDN'T GET BRAKES FIXED. CAR MILEAGE 24,000, OWNER OF THIRD HONDA ACCORD, NEVER HAD BRAKES REPLACED WITHIN A YEAR AND AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE, NOT TO MENTION BACK BRAKES. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF EARLY BRAKE WEAR ALL OVER THE INTERNET. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR GOOD. WILL SOMEONE BE INJURED OR HURT BEFORE HONDA IS FORCED TO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM? THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE JOB AND UNACCEPTABLE TO PUT LIVES AT RISK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE BRAKES MADE A SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN THEY WERE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19000.
A/C BLOWING HOT AIR, TOOK TO DEALER, TOLD THAT A ROCK OR SOME DEBRIS HIT THE CONDENSER AND CAUSED A LEAK, TOLD REPAIR NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY DUE TO ROAD HAZARD, LIKE A WINDSHIELD GETTING CRACKED, ESTIMATED $650 TO REPLACE CONDENSER. ONLY HAD CAR FOR 1 YR, 18800 MILES. *TR

VEHICLE REAR BRAKES SUFFER FOR PREMATURE WEARS. EVERY 15,000 MILES (OR LESS IN SOME CASES) BRAKES MAKE A ANNOYING NOISE. I HAVE A 2008 HONDA ACCORD I USE FOR A 156 MILES DAILY COMMUTE. AT AROUND 48,000 MILES, PART OF THE SEAT FRAME HAD CUT THROUGH THE PADDING AND THE SEAT COVER. I NOTICED THE EDGE WAS UNFINISHED AND RATHER SHARP. I INFORMED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY AGREED TO SHARE THE COST OF CORRECTING THE DEFECT AND REPLACING THE DAMAGE MATERIAL. REPORTED PROBLEM TO HONDA AND BBB BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BECAUSE THEY ARE SAYING THAT IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. HOWEVER THOSE BRAKES SHOULD AT LEAST LAST FOR ANOTHER 20,000 MILES BEFORE THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED. I FOUND ON THE WEB MANY OTHER CONSUMERS LIKE ME WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE BECAUSE IF YOUR BRAKES RUN OUT PREMATURELY YOU MIGHT END UP CRASHING AND EITHER DYING OR KILLING SOMEONE ELSE, AND AS A RESULT HONDA IS GOING TO SUFFER GREATLY. MY 2008 ACCORD'S REAR INNER BRAKES WORE PREMATURELY AND INCONSISTENTLY WITH THE REAR OUTER BRAKES. INSPECTIONS OF THE OUTER BRAKES BY THE DEALER SERVICE TECHNICIAN LED THEM TO ASSUME THAT THE INNER BRAKES WERE SOUND, WHEN THEY WERE NOT. WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED THE CAR BEGAN MAKING A HORRIBLE SCREECHING SOUND AND CAUSED ME TO WEAVE THROUGH TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DEALERS SERVICE CENTER INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEMS FOR 2008 HONDA ACCORD'S BETWEEN 16K AND 30K MILES AND THAT HONDA, ALTHOUGH BEING MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, WAS DOING NOTHING TO FIX THIS. WE REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS, BUT WERE INFORMED THAT THE DEALER DOES NOT NORMALLY CHECK THE INNER BRAKES WHEN PERFORMING ROUTINE INSPECTIONS AT OIL CHANGES. THEY ALLOWED TO KEEP THE BRAKE PADS FOR OUR RECORDS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE EXITING THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT PLACED A BAG ONTO THE SEAT AND CLOSED THE FRONT DOOR. IMMEDIATELY, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER SON WAS SEATED ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE DURING THE FAILURE, BUT WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE DOOR WAS SHUT WITH TOO MUCH FORCE, WHICH CAUSED THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE COST OF $2,700. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INSURANCE ADJUSTER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE ADJUSTER STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL DEFECT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR COST. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT BECAUSE THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO DEFECTS, NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE PROVIDED. THE BRAKES ON MY CAR STARTED SQUEALING AT 16,000 MILES. HONDA SAID THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE WORN DOWN COMPLETELY. IN CHECKING THE WEB IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE REAR BRAKES. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE SINCE NOBODY EXPECTS THEIR REAR BRAKE PADS TO BE WORN DOWN IN 15 TO 20K MILES. *TR
IT WAS APRIL 22, 2009 AROUND 3PM WHEN I PULLED INTO THE LAUNDRY BASKET ON BROADWAY IN BANGOR, ME. I OPENED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR TO TAKE THE DIRTY LAUNDRY OUT OF THE BACK AND THEN CLOSED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR. I OPENED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WHERE MY COUSIN WAS SITTING AND ASKED HIM TO HAND ME SOME MONEY FOR LAUNDRY. WHEN I SHUT THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR ALL OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS WENT OFF STRIKING MY COUSIN IN THE HEAD. MY COUSIN AND I DROVE THE VEHICLE OVER TO DARLING'S HONDA IN BANGOR WHERE THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL. AFTER COMING TO AN AGREEMENT I WAS GIVEN A RENTAL CAR AND MY VEHICLE WAS TO BE INSPECTED AT NO COST TO ME. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY AS WELL. AN ADJUSTER FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOOK A LOOK AT THE CAR AND DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A MECHANICAL DEFECT IN THE CAR SO MY INSURANCE WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIRS. AFTER HONDA TOOK A LOOK AT THE CAR THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF AND HONDA AMERICA IS REFUSING TO COVER THE COST OF THE DAMAGES. MY COUSIN THAT WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WHEN THE AIRBAG WENT OFF HAS A PREVIOUS HEAD INJURY THAT CAUSES HIM TO HAVE SEIZURES AND AFTER HE WAS STRUCK IN THE HEAD BY THE AIRBAGS, HE HAD A COUPLE OF SEIZURES THAT NIGHT. HONDA TOLD ME THEY ARE REFUSING TO FIX THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE ADMITTING FAULT AND THEY ARE AFRAID OF A LAWSUIT FROM MY COUSIN OR MYSELF. I HAD NO INTENTIONS ON FILING A LAWSUIT, I JUST WANT MY CAR FIXED. AFTER I GO MY CAR BACK FROM HONDA ALL OF THE WEATHER STRIPPING IS COMING OFF THE VEHICLE. MY BRAKES ON 2008 HONDA ACCORD ARE WORN TO THE METAL. ALL MY DRIVING IS HIGHWAY MILES, 130 PER DAY TO WORK AND BACK, ALL HIGHWAY, NO STOP AND GO. GAS MILEAGE WAS NOT WHAT IT SHOULD BE PRIOR TO BRAKES WEARING DOWN. NOW THAT BRAKEPADS ARE WORN DOWN GAS MILEAGE IS BETTER THAN STICKER ON CAR WHEN PURCHASED. SEEMS LIKE THE CALIPERS ARE SQUEEZING THE LIVING LIFE OUT OF THE BRAKE PADS, WEARING THEM OUT. BAD CALIPER DESIGN. AND I'M A GIRL AND CAN FIGURE THIS OUT. *TR

I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP REGARDING A STRANGE NOISE TO FIND OUT THAT MY REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS TOTALLY TOOK ME BY SURPRISE SINCE MY CAR ONLY HAS 19,897 MILES AND ONLY HAS HAD THE CAR FOR 16 MONTHS. WHEN I STATED TO THE SERVICE TECH THAT "SEEMS VERY EARLY TO BE REPLACING REAR BRAKES" HE STATED THAT ON THIS MODEL THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE SEEING SINCE THIS MODEL CAR IS HEAVIER. I THINK THIS IS A RIDICULOUS STATEMENT AND HONDA NEEDS TO REALLY MAKE SOME CHANGES. I ALSO STATED I HAD A 2005 ACCORD AND NEVER HAD AS MUCH PROBLEMS THAN I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE. I WILL NOT BE KEEPING THIS VEHICLE AND DROPPING MORE AND MORE MONEY INTO A VEHICLE THAT FOR YEARS HAS BEEN STATED TO BE A RELIABLE CAR. *TR
OUR 2008 ACCORD HAD 29,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE BRAKES BEGAN SQUEALING. THE HONDA DEALER CHECKED IT AND SAID WE NEEDED NEW REAR BRAKE PADS AND THE ROTORS NEEDED TURNING. I CALLED HONDA AMERICA THEY, LIKE THE DEALER, SAID IT WAS A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM. I HAD AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO REPLACE THE PADS. HE SAID THE ROTORS DID NOT NEED TURNING. MY MECHANIC SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN PADS WEAR THAT QUICK. IT MUST BE A DEFECT IN THE PADS. HONDA WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT IN THIS CASE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT PERFORM THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE INSURANCE COMPANY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. THE COST FOR REPAIR IS 5,000. BOTH AGENCIES HAVE NOT YET DECIDED WHO WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STILL HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY UNTIL 120,000 MILES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,000. THE BRAKES ON MY CAR WORE OUT AROUND 18,000 MILES AND NEEDED REPLACING. MY CAR NOW HAS ABOUT 50,000 MILES AND THE BRAKES NEED REPLACING AGAIN. MY PREVIOUS CAR DID NOT NEED A BRAKE CHANGE UNTIL 110,000 MILES.
IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED OVER 40 MPH AND BEGIN TO STOP; THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES AND THE FRONT END HAS A KNOCKING SOUND. TAKING THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAVING THIS ISSUE NOTED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASION THAT MY ROTORS ARE WRAPPED AND NEED TO BE TURNED DOWN. HAVING THE ROTORS TURN, SOON AS I LEFT THE LOT . THE ISSUE STILL REMAINED. THE MOST OFFENSIVE REMARKS MADE BY A HONDA SERVICE REP. IS" I HAVE POOR DRIVING HABITS." THINKING I WAS GOING CRAZY, I ASKED A TOTAL STRANGER AT MY LOCAL SUPERMARKET DRIVING A 2008 ACCORD. THEY TOLD ME THEY ALSO HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE CAR AND HONDA'S SERVICE DEPT. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS HEADACHE FOR NOW 71000 MILES, AND NOW REFUSE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER HONDA EVER. THEY PROBABLY COULD NOT GIVE THE CAR TO ME FOR FREE. *TR
PREMATURE REAR BRAKE FAILURE AT ONLY 25,000 MILES. STICKING REAR CALIPERS CAUSING EXCESSIVE WEAR ON BRAKES AND DECREASED FUEL MILEAGE. ENGINE COOLING FAN CAUSES HEADLIGHTS TO DIM AT NIGHT EVERY 30-40 SECONDS CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY AND VISIBILITY CONCERN. DEALER REFUSED TO FIX EITHER PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

THERE'S ONLY TWO TIMES NEW REAR BRAKES SHOULD WEAR OUT IN THAT AMOUNT OF TIME: NEVER AND NEVER EVER! THREE THOUSAND OF THOSE MILES WERE HIGHWAY ON A PREVIOUS TRIP TO FLORIDA AND BACK. DEALER COULD NOT EXPLAIN IT. SAID THE CAR WAS ENGINEERED NEW FOR 2008. BOLOGNA! THE NEW CAR PADS ARE TOO SMALL FOR THE CAR! NEW CAR REAR BRAKES SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN THE FRONT BRAKES AND BOTH SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 30K TO 40K MILES! BUT THIS RIDICULOUSLY FAST - AND WIDESPREAD (DO A GOOGLE SEARCH ON 2008 ACCORD BRAKE PROBLEMS) - BRAKE WEAR IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT HONDA SHOULD ADDRESS THROUGH A RECALL. *TR
AFTER 15,000 MILES OF MAJORITY HIGHWAY MILES THE OEM REAR BRAKES ON MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD EX-L 4 DOOR V6 WERE COMPLETELY WORN OUT. THE BRAKES WERE WORN ONLY ON THE INSIDE PAD. THE OUTSIDE PAD LOOKED ALMOST BRAND NEW. HONDA INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN REAR BRAKES FAIL AFTER 150000 MILES ON ANY VEHICLE BEFORE. THE ORIGINAL COST FOR REPAIR WOULD HAVE BEEN $190, BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER ADMITTED THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE PAD AND LET ME WALK FOR ONLY $70. THE PARTS WERE REPLACED, BUT I KNOW THAT THEY ARE GOING TO GO OUT JUST AS QUICK. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A FLAW IN THE DESIGN AND THAT HONDA IS ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM, BUT ALSO SAID IT IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. *TR

INTERIOR REAR BRAKE PADS WEARING OUT EXTREMELY PREMATURELY. FRONT BRAKE PADS AND REAR OUTSIDE PADS ARE ALL FINE. LIKELY PROBLEM IS IN THE REAR BRAKE CALIPER PISTON. HONDA STATES THAT THE BRAKE PADS ARE A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM AND NOT COVERED. HOWEVER, UNEVEN BRAKE PAD WEAR IS INDICATIVE OF A MECHANICAL ISSUE AND, IN THE CASE OF BRAKES, A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED WHEN DECELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT REAR BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED A SECOND TIME BUT AGAIN, THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUTTER AND THE GRINDING NOISE HAD BECOME INCREASINGLY LOUDER. IN ADDITION, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT NOTICED A LOUD NOISE FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO SECONDS. THE CONTACT CHECKED THE OIL DIPSTICK AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. THE DEALER ADVISED HAVING AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST PERFORMED AND DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR AN ADDITIONAL 1,000 MILES BEFORE CONFIRMING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE OIL CONSUMPTION AND THE ENGINE FAILING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 18,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 43,000.
