REAR BRAKES THAT NEED TO REPLACED AT 17,430 MILES. 13 MONTH OLD HONDA 2008 ACCORD. *TR
2008 HONDA ACCORDS REAR BRAKE FAILING & ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED @16,000 MILES. I WAS UPSET TO FIND OUT THAT MY ALMOST NEW CAR NEEDED BRAKES & ROTORS @16,000 MILES. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO HAVE BRAKES REPLACED BEFORE 50,000 MILES. I RESEARCHED A HONDA ACCORD WEB SITE & FOUND ALOT OF OTHER HONDA OWNERS WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM & ARE BEING TOLD IT IS THEIR DRIVING HABITS. HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT & CAN CAUSE A VEHICLE CRASH. I FIND IT ODD THAT I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE & THEY KNEW THE BRAKES WERE BAD. SCARY STUFF - A MAJOR CAR MANUFACTURER REFUSING TO ADMIT THEY HAVE A DESIGN PROBLEM. I CALLED HONDA HEADQUARTERS & THEY TOLD ME THIS IS THE FIRST THEY ARE HEARING ABOUT IT. NOT TRUE! I FOUND OUT THAT I WAS NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING THIS PROBLEM AFTER RESEARCHING IT ON LINE. MANY OTHERS WERE FILING COMPLAINTS & BEING TOLD THE SAME THING. I PAID TO HAVE THE BRAKES REPLACED & THE ROTORS RESURFACED. I WILL NOT KEEP THIS CAR IF THIS IS WHAT IS GOING TO KEEP HAPPENING. SOMEONE WILL GET KILLED BECAUSE NO ONE THINKS THEY NEED BRAKES REPLACED SO SOON. *TR
REAR BRAKES THAT NEED TO REPLACED AT 14,000 MILES. 9 MONTH OLD HONDA 2008 ACCORD. THIS IS THE 4 DOOR V6 VERSION. I HAVE LODGED A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA AMERICA. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE REAR BRAKE AT LESS THAN 50,000 MILES AND REAR DISC BRAKES SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THE FRONT BRAKES. *TR

PREVIOUS OWNER OF HONDA ACCORD( 2005) AND DID NOT HAVE PADS REPLACED DURING OWNERSHIP/LEASE. REPLACED PARTS AT MY OWN EXPENSE AND WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP AND HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT A DEFECT AND NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. OLD PART IS AVAILABLE. *TR
2008 HONDA ACCORD- PURCHASED IN DEC 2007. VEHICLE HAS 26,647 MI. EXPERIENCING PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR ON PASSENGER SIDE REAR. NOTIFIED NATIONAL HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY GAVE ME CASE NUMBER-N012009-03-2501439- ARE AWARE OF THE MANY COMPLAINTS AND "POTENTIAL" BRAKE ISSUE BUT ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT AT THIS TIME. WARRANTY APPLIES- WHICH MEANS THERE IS NO WARRANTY FOR THIS REPAIR. WILL KEEP MY COMPLAINT ON FILE. ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR BRAKES TO BE WORN WITH THIS LOW MILEAGE WHICH IS MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES. *TR
2008 ACCORD EX COUPE V6. VEHICLE IS DRIVEN DAINTILY, MOSTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AT 26000 NOTICED A VIBRATION IN STEERING WHILE BRAKING FROM 60MPH TO 30MPH. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP. REAR BRAKES PADS WERE GONE, AND FRONT ROTORS WERE WARPED. DEALER REPLACED PADS AND MACHINED AND TURNED ROTORS. AT 38000 MILES VIBRATION RETURNED. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP. DEALER REPLACED FRONT AND REAR ROTORS WERE NOW WARPED. REPLACED FRONT PADS, REAR PADS, FRONT AND REAR ROTORS. AT 46000 MILES VIBRATION RETURNED. SOUGHT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO NOTED THAT THE ROTORS AND PADS WERE TOO SMALL FOR A VEHICLE THAT HEAVY WITH ELECTRONIC BRAKE BALANCING AND VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST. INSTALLED AFTERMARKET PADS AND ROTORS. ISSUE HAS NOT RETURNED. *TR
HEARD METAL GRINDING NOISES; ASSUMED IT WAS THE BRAKES. I TOOK IT IN TO HONDA FOR AN INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD THE REAR BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BRAKES SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED AFTER ONE YR FOUR MONTHS - ESPECIALLY REAR ONLY. FRONT BRAKES SHOULD GO FIRST ON FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. WAS TOLD IT WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY. OWNED TWO OTHER ACCORDS IN PAST. BRAKES LAST TWO - THREE YEARS. WE SHOULD BE INFORMED OF THIS BEFORE PURCHASE. REPLACING BRAKES ARE EXPENSIVE. HEARD SAME COMPLAINT FROM TWO OTHER SAME MODEL/YEAR OWNERS. *TR
BOUGHT MY 2008 ACCORD IN OCTOBER 2007. SHORTLY AFTER BUYING I NOTICED THE BRAKES SQUEAKED UPON STOPPING ESPECIALLY IN RAIN AND COLD. I NEVER HAD IT LOOKED AT, BECAUSE TO BE HONEST THE BRAKES WORKED AND I DIDN'T WANT THE HEADACHE OF TAKING THE CAR IN TO BE LOOKED AT. THEN AT ROUGHLY 23,500 MILES I STARTED HEARING A HIGH PITCHED NOISE AND UPON BRAKING IT WOULD FEEL LIKE SAND WAS GRINDING IN MY BRAKES. IT CAME AND WENT FOR A FEW DAYS, SO I HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED NEW REAR BRAKES. GOODYEAR DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE BRAKES AVAILABLE SO TO MAKE IT LESS EXPENSIVE I PICKED THE BRAKES FROM HONDA AND GOODYEAR PUT THEM ON. IT'S BEEN ABOUT TWO MONTHS AND EVEN WITH THE BRAKES WORKING I STILL HAVE A SQUEAK WHEN STOPPING, ESPECIALLY IN THE COLD. IT'S SOOO '!@#$% ANNOYING. THIS IS A NEW CAR, A NICE CAR, AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IT'S TO THE POINT WHERE I REGRET BUYING THE CAR. THIS IS MY THIRD ACCORD IN A ROW, AND MY LAST TWO WERE DEFINITELY BETTER CARS, EVEN IF I BOUGHT THEM USED. NEVER HAVE I HAD BRAKE ISSUES LIKE THIS. *TR
REAR BRAKE PADS PREMATURELY WEAR OUT EVERY 15,000 MILES. *TR
PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR ON 2008 HONDA ACCORD. AT ABOUT 13,500 MILES, DEALER SAID REAR BRAKE PADS NEEDED REPLACEMENT. I PROTESTED AND THEY SAID I COULD GO UNTIL BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING. HAD TO HAVE THEM REPLACED TODAY AT 19,653. THERE ARE MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINT ON LINE. I THINK NEEDING TO REPLACE PADS EVERY 20K MILES INDICATES A PRODUCT THAT WARRANTS A RECALL. I'VE HAD HONDAS AND OTHER CARS IN THE PAST WITH NO SIMILAR PROBLEM. NOT DO TO BEING HEAVY ON THE BRAKES BECAUSE, THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT HARD BRAKING MAKES USE MAINLY OF THE FRONT BRAKES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND IMMEDIATELY. A COUPLE SECONDS LATER, THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 11,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 23,000. UPDATED 06/03/10*BF THE CONSUMER STATED HONDA REPLACED THE REAR BRAKES FREE OF CHARGE AS THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF PRE-MATURE BRAKE WEAR. I HAVE A 2008 HONDA ACCORD, PURCHASED NEW IN AUGUST OF 2008. IT HAS 20244 MILES. THE REAR BRAKES ARE FAILING NEED NEW PADS AND THE ROTORS NEED TO BE TURNED. IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. THIS IS EXCEEDINGLY EARLY AND I THINK THAT IT IS A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. *TR
THE FIRST TIME THE REAR BRAKES ON MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD NEEDED SERVICE WAS AT 20,268 MILES. THE NOTIFIED THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE WEARING UNEVENLY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR PADS AT NO COST. I JUST REPLACED THE REAR PADS AT 53,347 MILES FOR $214.50. *TR
REAR BRAKE PAD(S) PRODUCING HIGHLY AUDIBLE SQUEAKS AND HAVE WORN OUT PREMATURELY, MUCH LIKE OTHER COMPLAINTS POSTED REGARDING THE SAME. *TR
HEADLIGHTS FREQUENTLY DIM AND THEN RE-BRIGHTEN, CAUSING A NOTICEABLE FLICKERING WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. THIS IS VERY DISTRACTING AT NIGHT, EVEN WELL LIT ROADS. HONDA HAS CHECKED AND SAYS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS OPERATING NORMALLY AND IT MAY BE, BUT SOME INTERFACE WITH THE LIGHTS AND THE ELP IS INCOMPATIBLE IF IT CAUSES SUCH A NOTICEABLE FLICKER. WE DROVE A HONDA ODYSSEY WITH SAME SYSTEM FOR 100,000 MILES AND NEVER NOTICED A HEADLIGHT FLICKER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. WHENEVER THE CONTACT WOULD OPERATE THE VEHICLE AND TRAVEL OVER A ROUGH TERRAIN, THE CONTACT WOULD NOTICE A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 31000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED FOUR TIMES WITHIN TWO YEARS. THE SECOND TIME THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE PREVIOUS BRAKE PADS WERE INFERIOR. THE CONTACT THEN SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CABLE TO THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WOULD NEED TO BE RELEASED SLIGHTLY, BUT THERE WAS NO WAY TO MAKE THE CORRECTION. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DOOR LATCHES WERE ALSO REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,822 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,569.

I PURCHASED A 2008 HONDA ACCORD LX LAST YEAR AND ALSO PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF MILES I DRIVE PER DAY. THIS YEAR I TOOK MY CAR IN TO BE SERVICED BECAUSE THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS NOT COOLING. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THE CONDENSER WAS DAMAGED FROM ROCKS HITTING IT AND IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE REPAIR COST WOULD BE $594 AND THERE WAS NO WAY TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM FROM RE-OCCURRING IN THE FUTURE. I INFORMED THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THIS APPEARED TO BE A DESIGN FLAW IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE VEHICLE. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AMONG HONDA & ACURA MODELS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS RESET. THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM APPEARED QUICKLY AND ASKED FOR A CODE TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT WAS NEVER ASKED FOR A CODE BEFORE AND WAS UNAWARE OF ANY EXISTING CODE. THE VIN WAS UNABLE TO BE ACCEPTED IN THE SYSTEM. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 27,046.
I HAVE A 2008 HONDA ACCORD WITH 28,000 MILES ON IT. WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE, I HAD TO REPLACE TO REAR BRAKE PADS. THE DEALER TRIED TO TELL ME IT WAS MY DRIVING, WHICH I KNEW IT WASN'T. I FOUND AN INTERNET SITE THAT LISTS COMPLAINTS, AND JUST FROM THE ONE WEBSITE, THERE WERE 85 COMPLAINTS ABOUT PREMATURE REAR BRAKE PAD FAILURE ON THIS CAR. IT IS A KNOWN HONDA DEFECT! I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY SAID THE COMPANY WAS WORKING ON A "FIX" BUT HAD NO OTHER INFORMATION. I WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR HONDA.COM FOR UPDATES. THIS IS A HONDA ISSUE THAT THEY NEED TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF, AND I EXPECT TO BE REPAID FOR MY EXPENSES. HOPEFULLY MY DEALERSHIP WILL DO SOMETHING FOR ME, BUT I WON'T HOLD MY BREATH. I'M NOT SURE IF I CHECKED THE CORRECT BOX "SERVICE BRAKES, AIR" BECAUSE I'VE NEVER HEARD THEM REFERRED TO AS THAT, BUT THIS COMPLAIN IS ABOUT MY REAR BRAKES. *TR THANK YOU.
I HAVE 19000 MILES ON MY CAR AND THE BACK BRAKE NEEDED REPLACING. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BACK BRAKES AND RESURFACED THE ROTORS DUE TO PREMATURE BRAKE WEARING. ACCORDING TO CARCOMPLAINTS.COM THERE ARE MANY OTHER 2008 HONDA ACCORDS THAT ARE HAVING THIS SAME FAILURE. I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD AND CANNOT AND WILL NOT HAVE HER IN DANGER TO DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT ON A BRAND NEW CAR. *TR

AT 15,580 MILES THE REAR BRAKE PADS ON MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD EXL V-6 SEDAN WERE WORN DOWN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT PADS ARE FINE. I HAVE DRIVEN VARIOUS OTHER VEHICLES AND HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS AFTER SO SHORT OF A MILEAGE. THE SERVICE CONSULTANT AT MY HONDA DEALER SHOWED MY THE PAD AND THEY ARE VERY SMALL. I WAS INFORMED BY MY HONDA DEALER THAT THE PADS ARE TOO SMALL AND THEY ARE WEARING OUT FASTER. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN AND I HAVE ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT WITH AMERICAN HONDA. I WOULD NEVER HAVE CHECKED MY PADS SO EARLY HAD I NOT BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL. I WAS LUCKY AND CAUGHT THE PROBLEM BEFORE AN ACCIDENT, BUT BRAKE PADS SHOULD NOT NEED TO REPLACED ON A 1- YEAR OLD CAR WITH THIS LOW OF MILEAGE. *TR
TIRE HAD A 1/16 INCH WIDE BY 1/2 INCH LENGTH SLIT NEAR THE RIM. WENT TO THE TIRE MANUFACTURER AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT A DEFECT. WHEN I FIRST SAW THE SLIT, IT WAS LIKE A PULLED TISSUE PAPER. NOW IT IS TWO INCHES LONG. I GOT IT REPLACED AT A COST. *TR
2008 HONDA ACCORD, 4 DOOR, V6 - PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR. THE REAR BRAKE PADS ON MY CAR ARE NOW NEEDING REPLACEMENT AT ONLY 12,500 MILES. I HAVE CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY SAY THIS IS ONLY A MAINTENANCE ITEM AND NOT CURRENTLY A RECALL OR WARRANTY REPAIR ITEM. WITH BRAKE PADS WEARING THIS QUICKLY PEOPLE WILL NOT BE ABLE OR WILLING TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT/REPAIR ON A TIMELY BASIS. THIS WILL LEAD TO THESE CARS BEING ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT ADEQUATE BRAKES. MY WIFE AND I ARE EXPERIENCED DRIVERS AND HAVE OWNED HONDA VEHICLES FOR 25+ YEARS. WE HAVE NEVER HAD THIS TYPE OF PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR WITH HONDA OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF VEHICLE. THE MAJOR ISSUE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THESE CARS TO BE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH INADEQUATE BRAKES. THE INCONVENIENCE AND TREMENDOUS COST OF REPLACING BRAKE PADS THIS FREQUENTLY WILL LEAD TO THIS SITUATION. THIS IS A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP THAT MAY LEAD TO A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR CONSUMERS. *TR
MOST OF MY DRIVING IS HIGHWAY MILES. AT 29500 THE REAR BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALREADY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EVEN 1 YEAR OLD AND THE REAR BRAKES GO OUT FIRST. USUALLY ON MY MOST CARS FRONT OR REAR WHEEL DRIVE CARS, THE FRONT BRAKES TEND TO GO OUT FASTER THAN THE REAR BRAKES. AFTER DOING RESEARCH IT TURNS OUT, I AM NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS ISSUE ON THIS CAR. TURNS OUT AS WELL THE DEALERSHIPS KNOW OF THIS ISSUE AS WELL. AND THE FACT THE PART THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACING THE ROUTER IS ALL WEAR AND TEAR PRODUCTS. SO THIS DOES NOT COVER THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY. I WOULD UNDERSTAND ON A NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCE IF THE BRAKES NATURALLY WORE OUT THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR REGARDLESS. WHICH WAS WHAT I EXPECTING WHEN I DROPPED OF THE CAR FOR THE PROBLEMS BUT FOR THE REAR BRAKES TO GO BACK THIS EARLY AND THIS SOON AND THEN CHARGE THE CUSTOMER FOR 200-300 FOR THE FIX AND NO WARRANTY, THAT'S REALLY SILLY. *TR
PREMATURE REAR BRAKE PAD WEAR. WITH 18900 MILES ON MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD EX 4CYL, THE BRAKES STARTED TO SQUEAL. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE CAR DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS NORMAL AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I DID NOT AGREE WITH HIS ASSESSMENT BUT I PROCEEDED WITH HIS RECOMMENDATION TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKE PADS. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THE SITE, HTTP://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/HONDA/ACCORD/2008/BRAKES/PREMATURE_BRAKE_WEAR.SHTML AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE, I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT HONDA SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA CORP AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. *TR
THE REAR BRAKES OF MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD HAVE WORN OUT PREMATURELY. (32230 MILES) THE DEALERSHIP STATED IT IS NORMAL FOR THIS CAR BECAUSE THE REAR BRAKE PADS ARE BUILT VERY SMALL AND THIN. AFTER CHECKING THE INTERNET, IT SEEMS THAT THE NORMAL WEAR IS BETWEEN 20000 AND 30000 MILES. THE AVERAGE AMERICAN DRIVER SIMPLY CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM THEY ARE HAVING, SUCH AS NOISE AND VIBRATIONS IS DUE TO REAR BRAKE WEAR AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM ON THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD IS OF POOR DESIGN AND POSSIBLY A SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE GIVE CONSIDERATION TO INVESTIGATING THE BRAKING SYSTEM OF THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD. *TR

THE INSIDE PADS WERE THINNER THEN THE OUTER PADS WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN MY BRAKES. ALSO THE BOTTOM OF THE PADS ARE THINNER THEN THE TOP OF THE PADS DUE TO A SLIGHTLY TILTING CALIPER. YET THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

DEALER DISCOVERED THAT ALLEGEDLY AN ANIMAL HAD CRAWLED ABOVE GAS TANK (BELOW REAR SEAT/FRAME) & GNAWED AWAY SOME OF THE PLASTIC OR VR VALVE ATTACHED TO THE GAS TANK CREATING A "PINHOLE" LEAK FOR FUEL VAPOR & LIQUID....ASSEMBLY REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF WHOLE GAS TANK. *TR

WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WERE TOLD THIS IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC CAUSED BY ELD SYSTEM. THEY ARE NOT ABLE OR NOT WILLING TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
