MY STEP DAUGHTER BOUGHT 2008 HONDA ACCORD, BRAND NEW. AT 17,870 MILES WE HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES( 06/09/08). AT 34,648 MILES ( 02/05/09) THE REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. NOW, AT 53,575 MILES, 01/05/10, THE REAR BRAKES HAVE TO BE REPLACED FOR THE THIRD TIME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT FROM AND WAS TOLD THAT AMERICAN HONDA KNEW OF THE PROBLEM BUT IT WAS A WEAR ISSUES AND THE REPLACEMENT WOULD BE AT OUR COST. I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA AND A CASE FILE WAS OPENED. ON 01/04/10,I SPOKE WITH JAY PASQUIN, CASE MANAGER AND HE STATED HE WOULD LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM. I HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM HIM AS OF 01/06/10. NOW THE VEHICLE SHAKES WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THERE WERE UNUSUAL VIBRATIONS AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY VEER TOWARD THE RIGHT. THE DEALER ROTATED THE TIRES BUT THE VEHICLE THEN BEGAN TO VEER TOWARD THE LEFT. THE DEALER REALIGNED THE FRONT SUSPENSION BUT TO NO AVAIL. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKES WOULD SPORADICALLY SQUEAL WHEN DEPRESSED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ROTORS TWICE BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,800. ON JULY 26, 2010, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VSA AND AN EXCLAMATION WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE BEGAN IDLING ERRATICALLY AND THE VEHICLE KEPT WANTING TO CUT AS THE CONSUMER APPROACHED TRAFFIC LIGHTS. UPON INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DETERMINED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CYLINDER. THE SPARK PLUGS AND CYLINDER WERE REPLACED. UPDATED 08/10/10
I PURCHASED A 2008 ACCORD EX-L WITH THE 4 CYLINDER ENGINE IN JUNE OF 2008. THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS VEHICLE FLICKER OR DIM AT NIGHT AS AC OR OTHER FANS CYCLE ON & OFF. THIS IS VERY DISTRACTING FOR ME & MUST BE FOR THE OTHER DRIVERS THAT MEET ME ON THE ROAD. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE IN THE PAST YEAR AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC CAUSED BY THE ELECTRICAL LOAD DETECTOR (ELD) SYSTEM. THEY ARE NOT ABLE OR NOT WILLING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFELY HAZARD. I WONDER WHETHER IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE A CAR THAT DIMS ITS HEADLIGHTS CONSTANTLY. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS CANNOT BE RESOLVED, AND WHY HONDA DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS A MAJOR PROBLEM. SHOULD HONDA BE ALLOWED TO DECIDE THE DIMMING PROBLEM IS NORMAL? THE OTHER NIGHT ON THE WAY HOME I HAD SOMEONE PULL OFF THE ROAD TO LET ME PASS, I CAN ONLY ASSUME IT WAS BECAUSE OF MY DIMMING LIGHTS. THESE LIGHTS ARE NOT SAFE AND HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
HEADLIGHTS DIM AS AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR CYCLES OFF AND ON. I HAVE OWNED OVER 30 CARS IN MY LIFETIME AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE SEEN THIS. APPARENTLY HONDA CLAIMS THIS IS "NORMAL". IT IS DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER AND TO ONCOMING CARS. I HAVE THE 2008 LX-P MODEL - 4 CYLINDER. *TR
2008 HONDA ACCORD HEADLIGHT DIMS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD EVERY MINUTE OR LESS. OTHER CARS THINK YOU ARE FLASHING THEM WITH HIGH BEAMS. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE HEADLIGHT ARE ON WITH THE AC ON AT THE SAME TIME. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD PURCHASED MARCH 2008. THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED FOUR TIMES IN A PERIOD OF TWO YEARS. THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED ONCE ON THE VEHICLE. A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE BRAKE PADS ONLY LAST FOR 2500 MILES. THERE WERE NO RECALLS LISTED FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000. THE CURRENT WAS 58,000.
A MONTH AGO I HAD PICKED MY BOYFRIEND UP FROM THE AIRPORT AND WHEN HE GOT OUT AT A GAS STATION HE SHUT/SLAMMED MY FRONT PASSENGER DOOR ON MY NEW 2008 HONDA ACCORD. WHEN THIS HAPPENED MY SIDE AIRBAGS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DEPLOYED; BOTH SIDE WINDOW AIRBAGS AND THE SIDE SEAT AIRBAG. THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH IMPACT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN AND NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THE CAR. WE WERE SHOCKED BY THEM DEPLOYING AND COUNTED OUR BLESSINGS NO ONE WAS IN THAT SIDE OF THE CAR AT THAT TIME. THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND I WAS IN THE DRIVERS SEAT. WE HAVE BEEN FIGHTING WITH HONDA FOR A MONTH NOW AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT UNDER MY WARRANTY. MY INSURANCE HAS BEEN INVESTIGATING THIS FOR A WEEK AND A HALF NOW AND TOO STRONGLY FEEL THIS IS A WARRANTY ISSUE. NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING AND NOW I AM STILL STUCK WITH A BRAND NEW CAR THAT HAS THE AIRBAGS TAPED UP FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO SEE OUT MY WINDOWS. I FEEL THIS IS DEFIANTLY A WARRANTY ISSUE AND I WANT IT TO BE KNOWN AND PEOPLE BE WARN SO HOPEFULLY THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN TO THEIR NEW ACCORDS. *TR

RE: 2008 HONDA ACCORD COUPE 4 CYLINDER LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS ONLY PROJECT ABOUT 30-40 FEET. ACCORDING TO DEALER THEY ARE ADJUSTED PROPERLY. POSSIBLY THEY ARE JUST TOO DIM. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE ON THE COUNTRY ROADS THAT I TRAVEL THAT HAVE NO STREET LIGHTS, UNLESS I USE THE HIGH BEAMS. *TR

I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST THAT NHTSA INVESTIGATE THE BRAKING SYSTEM ON THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD AND OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME BRAKING SYSTEM. BRAKES SEEM TO BE EXPERIENCING PREMATURE WEAR AND ROTORS ARE BECOMING WARPED AT 30,000 MILES OR MUCH SOONER. HUNDREDS OF OTHER 2008 HONDA ACCORD OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE SAME PROBLEM ON CAR RELATED FORUMS. I REALIZE THAT BRAKES ARE TYPICALLY A WEAR AND TEAR THING, BUT THE SPEED AT WHICH THESE BRAKES WEAR SEEMS EXCESSIVE. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2008 HONDA ACCORD APPROXIMATELY FOUR WEEKS AGO, WHEN DRIVING THE CAR (WITH A/C ON) THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER APPROXIMATELY EVERY 15-30 MINUTES. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT PROVIDED A SOLUTION. LIGHTS FLICKERING IS AN UNSAFE AND UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION. OTHER DRIVERS DO NOT KNOW THE FLICKERING LIGHTS ARE NOT AN ACT OF AGGRESSION, NOR IS IT SAFE FOR DRIVER'S TO BE EXPOSED TO CONTINUOUS FLICKERING LIGHTS. THERE ARE EXTENSIVE POSTINGS ON THE INTERNET REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. I WOULD IMPLORE THIS AGENCY TO PROTECT THE SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC BY RESEARCHING THIS HIGHLY DOCUMENTED SAFETY ISSUE AND REQUIRING HONDA TO FIX THIS FAULTY DESIGN. *TR

I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE BUT THE SERVICE REP AT THE DEALER SAID THAT IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND NOT A SAFETY ISSUE SO I SHOULD CONTACT HONDA DIRECTLY. I HAVE MADE NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS TO BOTH HERB CHAMBERS HONDA IN BURLINGTON MA ,WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR, AND HONDA CORPORATION AND THEY HAVE BOTH FLAT OUT REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT HAVE BOTH ADMITTED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES AGAIN REITERATING THAT IT'S "NOT A SAFETY ISSUE". THE DO NOT HAVE A TIME FRAME AS TO WHEN A FIX WILL BE FORTHCOMING. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! *TR
TOOK CAR IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND FOUND OUT REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT 16,000 MILES! *TR
BLINKING HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2008 ACCORD, WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER RUNNING AT NIGHT EACH TIME THE COMPRESSOR CYCLES ON (ABOUT EVERY 30 SECONDS) THE HEADLIGHTS BLINK. HONDA STATES THIS IS NORMAL, I SAY IT IS ABNORMAL AND DISTRACTING. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT SURELY NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS. BOTH REMOTE CONTROLS LOSE RANGE OF OPERATION WITHIN MONTHS OF REPLACING BATTERIES. THIS HAS BECOME VERY FRUSTRATING, WHERE I OFTEN NEED TO BE STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO THE CAR TO LOCK/UNLOCK IT. I ACTUALLY REVERTED TO USING THE REMOTE OF MY HONDA REMOTE CAR STARTER INSTEAD OF THE KEY REMOTE ITSELF (OF WHICH HAS ITS OWN SET OF PROBLEMS). *TR

FAULTY HEADREST DESIGN. PUSHES THE HEAD OF MANY DRIVERS RADICALLY FORWARD, MAKING IT PAINFUL AND DANGEROUS TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE. PROLONGED DRIVING CAUSES NECK AND HEAD PAIN LASTING FOR DAYS, FROM LESS THAN AN HOUR OF DRIVING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, SHE HEARD A THUMPING NOISE WHEN SHE APPLIED THE BRAKE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THUMPING NOISE GOT LOUDER AS SHE CONTINUED TO DRIVE. THE DEALER STATED THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR ROTOR CAUSED THE FAILURE AND MADE THE REPLACEMENT. APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS LATER THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT PASSENGER SIDE REAR ROTOR CAUSED THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THEY STATED THAT SHE WASNT DRIVING THE VEHICLE ENOUGH BECAUSE THERE WAS A LOT OF RUST AROUND THE WHEEL. AS OF MAY 5, 2008, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 825.
I HAVE A 2008 HONDA ACCORD, 4-CYL. HEADLIGHTS APPEAR TO "FLICKER." I HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT THEY APPEAR TO BE TO A MUCH GREATER DEGREE THAN MY PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THIS PROBLEM COULD GET WORSE AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, I.E., ANOTHER DRIVER COULD INTERPRET THE HEADLIGHT FLICKER AS PERMISSION TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC AND CAUSE A COLLISION. *TR
EACH TIME THE AIR CONDITIONER KICKS IN, THE HEADLIGHTS DIM DRAMATICALLY. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR TURNS ON. *TR
I AM CONCERNED ABOUT ME REAR BRAKES IN MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD EX V6. I HAD TO REPLACE THEM AFTER OWNING THE CAR ONLY 6 MONTHS. I NEVER REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES ON ANY OTHER CAR THAT I HAVE OWNED; ALWAYS JUST THE FRONT BRAKES. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT THE BRAKES NEED TO BE RECALLED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HEARD SQUEAKING WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND THEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE. THE BREAK FAILURE COULD LEAD TO INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES, WHICH INCREASED THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE PADS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,700.

2008 HONDA ACCORD EXL WITH VARIABLE CYLINDER MANAGEMENT ENGINE. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE AD SAYS THE TRANSITION BETWEEN CYLINDER IN THE ENGINE IS UNFELT. HE STATES THAT IS A LIE THE PASSENGERS CAN FEEL WHEN THE ENGINE CHANGES. *KB ACCORDING TO HONDA, THE SYSTEM CAN ACTIVATE AND DEACTIVATE THE ENGINE'S CYLINDERS AS NEEDED TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF BOTH ACCELERATION AND FUEL SAVING. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE CONSTANTLY SURGES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, EVEN WHEN ON CRUISE CONTROL.
CAR IDLES HIGH AND ERATIC SINCE A NEW ALTERNATOR WAS PUT ON DUE TO LIGHT(IN AND OUT) FLICKERING ALONG WITH FAN AND RADIO CUTTING OUT WHEN A/C UNIT IS USED AND COOLING FANS KICK ON AND OFF.SINCE THEN CAR IDLES HIGH, SURGES WENT FRON TACKING 1100 COLD TO 1500. WENT FROM WARM IDLE AT 600 AND IS NOW 8-900RPMS.LIGHTS STILL DO THE SAME THING BUT THEY AGREE THERE WAS A VOLTAGE DROP AFTER TWO DEALERS SAID IT WAS ACHARCTERISTIC.AFTER TWO MONTH THE CARS GOING BACK IN FOR A SECOND SEAT TRACK AND A SYL PLATE THAT WAS DAMAGED.NOW ALONG WITH A LIST OF PROBLEMS THE FRONT BUMPER IS PEALING IN SAME SPOT ON LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE NEAR HEADLIGHTS.I ALREADT COMPLAINED ABOUT THE BUMPERS NOT FITTING.DEALER DID IDLE RELEARN PROCEDEURE THAT DID NOTHING.CHECK FUEL CAP MESSAGE COMES ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON.THEY CLAIM AFTER 20 YEARS OF DRIVING AND 4 HONDAS,I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PUT A GAS CAP ON.WORST CAR I EVER HAD.THE WORST PART IS THE ATTITUDE OF THE DEALERS AND HONDA.I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR OVER TWO MONTHS FOR A REP,LAS TIME DEALER SNUCK A NOTE IN THAT I REFUSED TO SEE THE REP.I FAXED THEM A DEMAND LETTER TO SEE THE REP AND ANOTHER DEALER WAS ALSO SUPPOSED TO SET A MEETING UP.THEY CLAIM HE IS OUT WITH A BAD BACK(PHILADELPHIA AREA REP,)I AM SUING HONDA UNDER THE LEMON LAW.I HAD ENOUGH.THE SUIT WAS FILED AND MY COURT DATE IS IN OCTOBER,CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS.CAR ALO SMELL LIKE A ROTTEN EGG. *TR

CAR IDLES ROUGH AND STALLS,CHECK FUEL CAP MESSAGE COMES ON.THIS WAS AFTER THEY REPLACED ALTERNATOR DUE TO LIGHTS FLICKERING AND RADIO AND FANS GOING IN AND OUT.ALTERNATOR DID NOT HELP AND NOW THE IDLES IS HIGH AND ERATIC, SYSTEM THAT DETECTS MISSING FUEL CAP IS INOP. WHEN CAR COMES TO A STOP THE IDLE STOPS REAL HGIGH AND COMES DOWN AS YOU SIT AT THE LIGHT.THE DEALER SAYS THE OWNERS MAUAL IS WRONG ABOUT THE WAY SYSTEM WORKS.I DROVE TWO IDENTICAL ONES AND WHILE THE CARS WERE STILL OF POOR QUALITY,THE IDLE WAS THE SAME AS BEFORE THEY MESSED WITH CAR.OTHER ISSUES INCLUDE BAD SEAT TRACKS, BAD UPULSTRY, PAINT ON BUMPERS IMPROPERLY FINISHED. HONDA REFUSES TO FIX THESE ISSUES. I AM TAKING IT UNDER THE LEMON LAW AND URGE ALL OTHERS TO DO THE SAME. *TR

TRANSMISSION/VCM CONSTANTLY CONTINUES TO SHIFT. CAR CANNOT LOCATE CORRECT DRIVE RATIO. VERY PREVALENT WHEN DRIVING 60 MPH ON LEVEL GRADE AND NO PEDAL MOVEMENT. HOWEVER, THE TRANSMISSION AND/OR VARIABLE CYLINDER MANAGEMENT CONSTANTLY SURGING IS NOTICEABLE AT ALL SPEEDS WITH NO CHANGE IN PEDAL FORCE APPLIED. ALSO, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SLOWLY AND A SUDDEN DEMAND TO INCREASE SPEED, THE TRANSMISSION FAILS TO DOWNSHIFT WHEN THE PEDAL IS PUSHED TO THE FLOOR AND RESTRICTS THE ENGINE RPMS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING IN MODERATE RAIN SHOWERS, WATER POOLS ON DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD. VERY NOTICEABLE AT SPEEDS OF 50-70 MPH. WINDSHIELD WIPERS OPERATING AT ANY SPEED ACTUALLY PULL THE POOL OF WATER FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE FRONT PILLAR INTO THE DRIVERS VISION ON THE DOWNSTROKE. *TR

TRANSMISSION SHIFTING IS EXCEPTIONALLY HARSH, ESPECIALLY AT LOWER GEARS (2-3 AND 3-4, AND DOWNSHIFTING AS WELL). WHEN DOWNSHIFTING, CAR FEELS LIKE SOMEONE HAS SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES. CAR ALSO FEELS LIKE IT IS CONSTANTLY HUNTING FOR THE CORRECT GEAR IN THE LOW 60S MPH. THIS IS PROBABLY THE VCM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. ON ONE OCCASION, THE SUNROOF OPENED ON ITS OWN. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE SECOND TIME AT THE DEALER THEY CHANGED THE FREQUENCY ON THE REMOTE, BUT THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, AND POWERTRAIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,400 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.

ALL OUTSIDE LIGHTS FLICKER WHENEVER THE AIR CONDITIONER CYCLES ON. THIS IS A VERY VISIBLE FLICKER AND I WOULD CONSIDER A SAFETY HAZARD. HONDA HAS BEEN NOTIFIED AND SAYS ITS A NORMAL CONDITION. DRIVING THE CAR AT NIGHT HAS BECOME EXTREMELY DISTRACTING. *TR
