THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING SMOOTHLY ON THE FREEWAY, BEING DRIVEN AT APPROXIMATELY 64 MPH - THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON (CHECK ENGINE, LOW OIL, TEMPERATURE..) - SUDDENLY THERE WAS A METAL CLANK FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY A PLUME OF THICK CLEAR SMOKE THAT COMPLETELY ENGULFED THE CAR AS THE ENGINE STALLED AND DIED - WITHIN A MATTER OF SECONDS. THE SMOKE CLEARED RAPIDLY, AND LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD, NOTHING SEEMED TO BE AMISS. NO FIRE, NO MORE SMOKE, NO LEAKING FLUIDS, BUT THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. SUBSEQUENT ATTEMPTS TO RE-START IT PRODUCED ONLY THE CLICK OF THE STARTER - THE ENGINE REFUSED TO TURN OVER. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO OIL IN THE ENGINE WHICH HAD CAUSED IT TO SEIZE. FOR THE PAST 18 MONTHS THE CAR HAS BEEN BURNING QUITE A SIGNIFICANT BIT OF OIL. DURING THAT PERIOD, IT NEEDED AT LEAST TWO TWO QUARTS OF OIL BETWEEN SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES - THERE NEVER WAS ANY OIL LEAK. TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, IT WAS TOPPED OFF WITH TWO QUARTS OF OIL WHEN THE LOW OIL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. WHEN THE ENGINE WAS FINALLY OPENED, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE PISTON ROD HAD SNAPPED OFF WHEN THE ENGINE RAN DRY OF OIL (SEE ATTACHED PICTURES). SUBSEQUENT RESEARCH HAS REVEALED THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF SEVERAL PROBLEMS INVOLVING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION FOR THIS PARTICULAR ENGINE CONFIGURATION AND MODEL YEAR (2008 3.5L V6 PZEV). I HAVE ALSO DISCOVERED OFFICIAL SEVERAL HONDA SERVICE BULLETINS THAT ARE RELEVANT AND PERTINENT TO THIS ISSUE. SO FAR, MY BEST ATTEMPTS TO GET A RESOLUTION FROM AMERICAN HONDA HAS PRODUCED NO RESULT EVEN THOUGH I SUBMITTED DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE THAT THE CAR WAS SERVICED REGULARLY AS PER HONDA'S RECOMMENDATIONS AND ITS LONG HISTORY OF PROBLEMS AND REPAIRS RELATING TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE COLD START GENERATES THE GRINDING SOUND FROM VTC ACTUATOR. THE RESULT OF VTC ACTUATOR COMPLETE MECHANICAL FAILURE IS CATASTROPHIC. THE VALVES FROM THE INTAKE OF EITHER CYLINDER 2&3 OR 1&4 WILL RESULT IN A TENSIONER TO FAIL AND A FANTASTIC COLLISION OF THE VALVE WITH THE PISTON. HONDA SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AS THIS IS A PART DEFECT. THE NEWLY REDESIGNED VTC ACCTURATOR WAS RELEASED BUT HONDA AMERICA ONLY REPLACE THIS FOR CERTAIN CUSTOMER AS CASE BY CASE.
MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD HAS BEEN USING OIL WAY BEFORE THE NEXT OIL CHANGE. THIS HAS ONLY OCCURRED THE LAST TWO CHANGES. THE CAR DOES NOT LEAK OR SMOKE. THERE HAS BEEN A CLASS ACTION SUIT REGARDING SPARK PLUG FOULING INDICATING UNUSUAL OIL CONSUMPTION. MY CAR HAS ONLY 59500 MILES AND I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM MAY BE STARTING NOW. HONDA EXTENDED A RECALL UNTIL NOV. 2015, 8 YEARS PAST THE PURCHASE DATE. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT THIS AND BECAUSE THE PROBLEM HADN'T BEGUN UNTIL NOW, IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME THAT MY PLUGS WILL FOUL. OTHER 2008 HONDA OWNERS HAD RINGS REPLACED AND OTHER ENGINE REMEDIES TO CORRECT THE PREMATURE OIL CONSUMPTION. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEW HONDAS, AND NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS KIND OF PROBLEM. I FIRST SAW ABOUT THE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT, ABOUT A MONTH AGO, AND SEVERAL PEOPLE HAD THIS PROBLEM. BECAUSE OF THE LOW MILEAGE I WAS NOT AFFECTED, UNTIL MY RECENT OIL CHANGE. I CERTAINLY DON'T BELIEVE THE CAR SHOULD BE USING 2 OR MORE QUARTS IN LESS THAN 1000 MILES. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO AN OIL CHANGE AND MONITOR THE CONSUMPTION AND THEN HE SAID ONLY ABOUT 2 OUT A 100 HAVE BEEN WARRANTED. I HAVE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLES AND CHANGED THE OIL REGULARLY AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. HAD I HAD THIS PROBLEM ARISE A FEW MONTHS BACK, I MAY HAVE GOTTEN THIS TAKEN CARE OF. UNHAPPY HONDA CUSTOMER
TAKATA RECALL-THE DEALERSHIP HAS KNOWN THAT MY CAR HAS DEFECTIVE PARTS FOR SO LONG AND STILL THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS. I LAST COMPLAINED IN APRIL. YESTERDAY I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THERE ARE STILL NO REPLACEMENT PARTS, BUT I WILL BE INFORMED WHEN THERE ARE PARTS AVAILABLE. THEY SUGGEST I HAVE NO FRONT SEAT PASSENGERS. THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY CAR. NOT USING IT IS NOT AN OPTION. WHY CAN'T THE AIRBAGS PARTS BEING PUT INTO NEWLY BUILT CARS BE USED TO REPAIR THE DEFECTIVE CARS? HONDA HAS DISAPPOINTED ME ONCE AGAIN. I WON'T BUY ANOTHER ONE -OR RECOMMEND THEM. I WANTED TO SEND THIS MESSAGE SO I HAVE WRITTEN CONFIRMATION THAT HONDA IS NOT TAKING CARE OF THIS PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR PARTS NEEDED TO BE ORDERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TAKATA RECALL, I TOOK MY CAR TO THE HONDA DEALER ON APRIL 18,2016 BECAUSE OF NOISE. THEY IDENTIFIED THE VTC ACTUATOR AS THE PROBLEM AND STARTED THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. MY HONDA ACCORD HAS 37,000 MILES ON IT. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS ISSUE, STARTING SEVERAL YEARS BACK. PLEASE FORCE A RECALL. THANK YOU! 'TAKEDA RECALL' I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO HONDA BUENA PARK IN BUENA PARK, CA FOR THIS RECALL, AND I'M JUST FINDING OUT THAT THE RECALL IS STILL ACTIVE.
TAKATA RECALL AS PART OF THE AIRBAG THINK MY CAR IS ONE OF THE RECALLS HONDA GARAGE IN GREENFIELD MASS. COULD NOT TELL ME. ALSO BROUGHT MY CAR TODAY TO HAVE IT TEST DRIVE BECAUSE FEEL LIKE THE FRONT IN HAS PROBLEMS WITH NOISE AN VIBRATION FEELING THEY TEST DROVE IT SAID LOOKED AT IT IN THE GARAGE AN TOLD ME IT LOOKED FINE I JUST DONT FEEL LIKE IT DRIVES LIKE IT DID BEFORE JUST WANT TO SEND THIS AS BACK UP BECAUSE IF IT BRAKES OR ENDS UP BACK IN WANT TO MAKE IT KNOWN AN WORRIED ABOUT THE AIRBAGS.
PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2012, WITHIN 60 DAYS OF PURCHASE I REPORTED ISSUES WITH OIL CONSUMPTION TO HONDA AND ALSO TO THE DEALERSHIP IN WHICH THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. HONDA GAVE ME A RENTAL FOR TWO DAYS WHILE THEY REVIEWED THE PROBLEM. WE WERE THEN ASKED TO BRING OUR VEHICLE BACK FOR A TOTAL OF 3 TESTS ONCE EVERY 30 DAYS TO HAVE THEM MEASURE THE OIL. IN THE MEANTIME WE KEPT PUTTING OIL IN THE VEHICLE IN A MORE THAN NORMALLY EXPECTED RATE. EVEN THOUGH THEY NOTICED IT AS A PROBLEM, THE BEST THEY OFFERED TO DO WAS FIX IT FOR $1500, HOWEVER WE NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. IN 2016 HONDA REPORTED A OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL FOR VEHICLES OF WHICH MINE FIT THE ORGINAL CRITERIA. FOUR YEARS LATTER HONDA IS STILL TELLING US THAT THEY WILL FIX IT FOR $1500. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE FIXED WITHOUT US HAVING TO PAY FOR IT CONSIDERING THIS WAS A LATE IDENTIFIED PROBLEM OF WHICH WE HAVE HAD TO FOOT THE COST FOR EVEN WHILE HAVING A CAR NOTE. HONDA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEMS ON THE VEHICLES RECALLED.
THIS IS REGARDING THE 15V-665 RECALL FOR SRS ECU SOFTWARE UPGRADE ON 2008-2009 HONDA ACCORDS. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT STEVENS CREEK HONDA TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL. WHEN I GOT THERE, THEY INDICATED THAT THE RECALL FOR THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE HAD BEEN SUPERCEDED BY ANOTHER RECALL ACTION REQUIRING A PART THAT WAS NOT AVAILABLE YET. I ASKED WHY THEY LET CUSTOMERS MAKE A RECALL APPOINTMENT IF THEY ALREADY KNOW THE RECALL CANNOT BE DONE. SERVICE ATTENDANT COULD NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION AND I WASTED SOME TIME OFF FROM WORK. THEN I TALK TO HONDA NORTH AMERICA AND THEY INSIST I NEED TO GET THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE AND DO NOT KNOW WHY STEVENS CREEK TOLD ME OTHERWISE. OVER THE NEXT *3+ WEEKS* HONDA NORTH AMERICA TRIED TO RESOLVE THIS WITH STEVENS CREEK. TWICE HONDA NORTH AMERICA TOLD ME IT WAS CLEARED UP AND TO GO AHEAD AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE RECALL. BUT THEN WHEN I CALLED STEVENS CREEK I'M STILL TOLD EITHER 15V-665 IS SUPERCEDED BY RECALL 16V-056 WHICH REQUIRES PARTS NOT YET AVAILABLE OR THAT IT ONLY NEEDS TO BE DONE IF MY SRS LIGHT IS ON. BUT AGAIN WHEN I TALK TO HONDA NORTH AMERICA THEY INSIST THAT 15V-665 AND 16V-056 ARE DIFFERENT RECALLS EVEN THOUGH BOTH HAVE TO DO WITH THE AIR BAG AND THAT THE 15V-665 SOFTWARE UPGRADE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SRS LIGHT. I FINALLY GAVE UP AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP FURTHER AWAY. BUT IF THIS RECALL IS THE SAFETY ISSUE THAT HONDA NORTH AMERICA TELLS ME IT IS, THEN I CAN ONLY ASSUME STEVENS CREEK IS PUTTING DRIVERS AT RISK BY NOT SERVICING THE RECALLS AS INSTRUCTED MY HONDA NORTH AMERICA.

TERRIBLE GAS MILAGE AND MASSIVE OIL BURNING. TOOK IT INTO O'HARE HONDA WHO REPLACED 2 OIL PRESSURE SWITCHES AFTER THEY UPDATED THE VCM SOFTWARE. I ALSO HAD OIL CONSUMPTION MONITORING DONE AND WAS TOLD MY CAR DOESN'T BURN ENOUGH OIL. IT WAS MONITORED TO BURN 9/10THS A QUART FOR EVERY 1000 MILES AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED TO BURN AT LEAST A FULL QUART FOR EVERY 1000 MILES FOR HONDA TO OFFER AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT. FOR THE LAST 2 TO 3 YEARS I HAVE BEEN ADDING 2-3 QUARTS EVERY OIL CHANGE AND I USED TO GET 4000-6000 MILES PER OIL CHANGE WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED (CPO). WHILE UNDER WARRANTY I MADE CLAIMS TO HONDA AND THEY WOULD TELL ME I AM USING THE WRONG OIL. THE DEALER VALLEY HONDA WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR SPECIFICALLY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO PUT THE SAME QUALITY OIL INTO THE CAR AS THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND ACCORDING TO THEIR RECORDS THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY SERVICED BY THEM AND THE ONLY OIL TO PUT IN THE CAR WAS FULL SYNTHETIC 0W20 AND THAT IS ALL IT HAS EVER HAD. PLEASE NOTE OIL CHANGES EVERY 4K TO 6K MILES AT 80 DOLLARS EACH SEEMED GOOD, BUT NOW IT'S EVERY 2K TO 3K MILES AT THE SAME PRICE NOT TO INCLUDE THE ADDITIONAL QUARTS AT 10 DOLLARS EACH COSTING ME AN ADDITIONAL 20 TO 30 DOLLARS EACH OIL CHANGE AND I AM AVERAGING 13 TO 17 MILES PER GALLON CITY/HIGHWAY COMBINED A FAR CRY FROM THE ORIGINAL 19 TO 29 MILES PER GALLON PREVIOUSLY ACHIEVED AS PROMISED. ALL SERVICES DONE TO THE VEHICLE INCLUDE: TIMING BELT REPLACED, OIL PRESSURE SWITCHES REPLACED, FLUID SERVICED AND FLUSHED; BRAKES, TRANSMISSION, POWER STEERING, COOLANT SYSTEM ALL OF THESE WERE DONE ON THE SAME DAY, WITH A HEAVY BILL OF 1300 DOLLARS. TIMING WAS DONE BECAUSE THE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE AND BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE HAD OVER 100K MILES AND IT WAS REQUIRED. CURRENTLY I HAVE 133K MILES MY 2008 ACCORD EX-L V6 NAVI.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE SPUN AROUND AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE UPPER LEFT COLLAR BONE, NECK, AND SHOULDER THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V665000 (AIR BAGS) AND 16V056000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

"TAKATA RECALL" HONDA USA DOES NOT HONOR THE NHTSA 16V-056 (CORROSION OF THE ECU UNIT) AIR BAG RECALL. THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND A REMEDY LETTER IN THE FALL OF 2016. NEVER RECEIVED THE LETTER, AND CLOSED THEIR RECALL CAMPAIGN. THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE ECU UNIT UNLESS IT'S CORRODED TO A POINT WHERE A WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. THE WHOLE POINT OF THE NHTSA 16V-056 RECALL IS TO REPLACE THE ECU UNIT, SO NO CORROSION WILL OCCUR IN THE FUTURE. HONDA USA REFUSES TO REPLACE THE ECU UNIT. THEY BULLY THEIR DEALERS NOT TO REPLACE IT TOO. I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED A BUSINESS THAT IS THIS DECEIVING IN MY LIFE. I' M STUCK WITHOUT ANY PULL OR POWER TO HAVE THEM LIABLE FOR THIS ISSUE. PLEASE ,I BEG YOU , PLEASE HELP ME NHTSA! THERE WAS A LITIGATION THAT WAS SETTLED IN THE PAST REGARDING PREMATURE WEAR ON THE REAR BRAKES. THEY JUST REPLACED ONE SET OF REAR BRAKES PER LITIGATION, BUT THE ACTUAL DEFECT WAS NEVER ADDRESSED AND NEVER FIXED. THE DEFECT IS IN THEIR BRAKING SYSTEM . I'M STILL DRIVING WITH DEFECTIVE BRAKING, WITH EXTREMELY HIGH ANXIETY. HONDA USA DECEIVED NHTSA AND THE CUSTOMERS AGAIN. SEATS ARE SO UNCOMFORTABLE , IT DETRACTS ATTENTION AWAY FROM DRIVING SAFELY ON THE ROAD.
IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM CAR WOULD SOMETIMES START SOMETIMES WOULD NOT EVEN DO ANYTHING NO POWER NO CLICKING JUST DEAD NEW BATTERY EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OKAY WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE MECHANIC LEFT ME STRANDED LAST WEEK AND HAD IT TOWED THIS TIME IT FAILED TO START WITH ALL ATTEMPTS, REPLACING IGNITION SWITCH, CAR WAS OFF WHEN THIS HAPPENED EACH TIME
EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, PER HONDA RECALL, IT IS DUE TO PISTON O RINGS LEAKING OIL INTO CHAMBER CAUSING EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING AND CAUSING ENGINE KNOCKS ONCE THE OIL WAS CONSUMED WITHIN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS.
THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD MODELS WERE SUBJECT TO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN 2010. THE SUIT STATED THAT REAR BRAKE PADS ON THE VEHICLE WEAR PREMATURELY. THE PROBLEM WITH THE LAWSUIT IS THAT AT THAT TIME MOST OWNERS OF THE VEHICLES DID NOT KNOW OR ENCOUNTER A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PADS. FURTHER, THE PADS ARE WEARING PREMATURELY WHICH IN MOST CASES WILL CAUSE A NEED FOR THE ROTORS TO BE REPLACED. THUS THE EXPENSE TO THE OWNER IS HIGHER. IN SOME INSTANCES THE OWNER IS FORCE TO PURCHASE NEW CALIPERS WHICH INCREASE THE COST EVEN MORE. THE VEHICLES ARE OUTFITTED WITH AN ELECTRONIC BRAKING DISTRIBUTION (EBD) SYSTEM WHICH MIGHT BE THE CAUSE OF THE OVERALL ISSUE. WHEN THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD MODELS WERE BUILT, HONDA INSTALLED SMALLER BRAKE PADS ON THE VEHICLES. THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT COVERED A FRACTION OF THE COST TO OWNERS. AS TIME GOES BY, MORE AND MORE OWNERS ARE NOW FACED WITH MUCH HIGHER COSTS TO REPLACE ALL THE REAR BRAKING COMPONENETS. I MYSELF SPENT OVER $800.00 IN APRIL, 2014 TO HAVE NEW BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS AND ROTORS INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE. THAT SERVICE WAS TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON THE VEHICLE. I NEED TO HAVE THE SAME BRAKING COMPONENTS REPLACED IN MARCH, 2016 AT A COST OF OVER $800.00. THE BRAKE COMPONENTS SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED AFTER 23 MONTHS. THE MILEAGE BETWEEN REPAIRS WAS 10,000 MILES. HONDA NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR POOR QUALITY FOR THE EBD SYSTEMS IN THE VEHICLES.
I PARKED ON MY DRIVEWAY, WHICH SLOPES UPWARD. I PUSHED OPEN THE DOOR TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT. AS I EXITED THE CAR, THE DOOR CLOSED BY ITSELF, HITTING ME ON THE SHOULDER AND INJURING THE SHOULDER. (I AM NOW GETTING MEDICAL TREATMENT FOR THE INJURY.) BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER DOORS FREQUENTLY CLOSE ON THEIR OWN, BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED. AFTER MY INJURY, I ASKED FRIENDS IF THEIR DOORS DID THIS, AND TESTED THEIR DOORS. EVEN PARKED ON A VERY SLIGHT UPWARD SLOPE, MY DOOR HAS A TENDENCY TO CLOSE ON ITS OWN. AT THAT POINT I REALIZED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH MY CAR; THE DOOR WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO CLOSE LIKE THIS. I PLAN TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER AS SOON AS I CAN TO SEE IF THE DOOR MECHANISM CAN BE FIXED ON BOTH SIDES.

THERE'S EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I'VE CHANGED SPARK PLUGS, PCV VALVE, THROTTLE BODY BUT NOTHING HELPS.
THE COLD START GENERATES THE GRINDING SOUND FROM VTC ACTUATOR. THE RESULT OF VTC ACTUATOR COMPLETE MECHANICAL FAILURE IS CATASTROPHIC. THE VALVES FROM THE INTAKE OF EITHER CYLINDER 2&3 OR 1&4 WILL RESULT IN A TENSIONER TO FAIL AND A FANTASTIC COLLISION OF THE VALVE WITH THE PISTON. HONDA SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AS THIS IS A PART DEFECT. THE NEWLY REDESIGNED VTC ACCTURATOR WAS RELEASED BUT HONDA AMERICA ONLY REPLACE THIS FOR CERTAIN CUSTOMER AS CASE BY CASE.

"TAKATA RECALL" I PURCAHSED A 2008 HONDA ACCORD IN 2013. ABOUT A YEAR AND HALD AGO I STARTED NOTICING THAT THE CAR WAS BURNING ALOT OF OIL. ON TOP OF OIL CHANGES, I HAD TO ADD 3-4 QUARTS A MONTH. IN SEPT 2015 I RCVD A WARRANTY EXT FROM AMERICAN HONDA FOR STICKING PISTONSRINGS RESULTING IN HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL HONDA DELAERSHIP AND WAS TOLD 3 FAILED ATTEMPTS FOR A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST HAD TO BE DONE FIRST BEFORE HONDA WOULD FIX RINGS PROBLEM. TOOK THE CAR TO HONDA IN OCT 2015 TO START TEST 1. AFTER THAT THE CAR STARTED ACTING FUNNY. I WOULD JERK ALOT, ENGINE LIGHT WOULD START FLASHING, IT WOULDNT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. IN FEB 2016 IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I GOT STRANDED BECAUSE THE CAR WOULDNT ACCELERATE. AMERICAN HONDA WOULDNT HONOR THE WARRANTY EXT BECAUSE I WAS OVER THE ALLOWED MILES. THEY KNOW THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THESE MODEL CARS AND HAD ONLY RECENTLY SENT ME A LETTER REGARDING IT. I FOUND OUT THAT A FEW OF THE CYLINDERS WERE MISFIRING AND AFTER RESERACH FOUND OUT IT WAS DUE TO THE RINGS. THEY PROVIDED TERRIBEL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY PUT A CRAPPY ON THE STREET AND DID EVERYTHING TO AVIOID FIXING IT. AND THEN INFORMED CUSTOMERS SO LATE AFTER THE CASE WAS SETTLED.
