I BOUGHT USED HONDA ACCORD IN 2015. AFTER THAT, I SPENT 2 TIMES TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS IN AROUND 30,000 MILES AND 1 TIME I SPENT FOR ROTOR. I EMAILED HONDA ABOUT IT AND I ALSO UNDERSTAND IT'S ABOUT ALMOST 8 YEARS BUT WHENEVER THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE BRAKE PADS THEY SUPPOSE TO CHANGE THE WHOLE BRAKING SYSTEM.NOW I HAVE A QUESTION OF KEEPING OR SELLING THE CAR & IF I HAVE TO SELL THE CAR ( IF I AM SELLING IT NOBODY WILL BUY IT OR I HAVE TO TELL THAT PERSON THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. ) ANOTHER QUESTION IS HONDA IS MAKING A MISTAKE I ALSO READ ABOUT A LAWSUIT REGARDING THAT AND THERE WAS A SETTLEMENT BUT NOW ALL THE USERS HAVE TO PAY AROUND $80 -$100 FOR EVERY 15,000 TO 20,000 MILES. INBOARD PASSENGER REAR BRAKE PAD JAMMED AND PREMATURELY WORN; DRIVER SIDE REAR BRAKE PADS OK. CALIPERS OK. . DEALER HAD TO REPLACE BOTH REAR BRAKE SETS AND RESURFACE THE ROTORS AT MY EXPENSE. DEALER BLAMED "CORROSION"; I BLAME A HONDA DESIGN DEFECT IN THEIR BRAKING SYSTEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT RESPOND. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.

DURING A RECENT INSPECTION, I WAS TOLD THAT MY BRAKES BARELY PASSED AND WOULD ONLY LAST APPROXIMATELY ANOTHER 3,000 MILES. I HAVE 17,000 MILES ON MY HONDA! I INHERITED THIS CAR LAST YEAR FROM MY UNCLE WHO PASSED. HE PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN 2010 AND PUT LESS THAN 4,000 MILES ON IT IN 4 YEARS. I HEARD THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES OF CERTAIN YEARS ON ACCORDS, INCLUDING THE ONE I HAVE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT HONDA WOULD FIX THIS AS A COURTESY TO OWNERS BECAUSE THERE WERE SO MANY COMPLAINTS. IN 2015, THIS IS NO LONGER AN OPTION. AT NO POINT HAS HONDA RECALLED THE VEHICLE. HOW CAN THEY GET AWAY WITH PUTTING SUCH CHEAP PRODUCTS ON A VEHICLE THAT COSTS MORE THAN 30K? THIS IS A LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN. WE PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE AT HONOLULU, HI, HONDA PFLUGER (NOW PACIFIC HONDA). WITH THE PROPER MAINTENANCE, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PERFORMING SATISFACTORILY UNTIL NOW. ON 01/08/15, WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO THE CLOSEST HONDA DEALER IN AUSTIN, TX, BECAUSE, FOR THE LAST THREE WEEKS, WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS SAT FOR A WHILE, THE BREAKS WILL NOT WORK WHEN BACKING UP: THE PEDDLE GOES ABOUT HALFWAY DOWN AND STICKS, WILL NOT GO BACK NOR DOWN, AND THE HAND BREAK HAD TO BE PULLED UP TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IN ORDER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TESTED, WE LEFT OUR VEHICLE AT HOWDY HONDA. THE NEXT DAY, THE MAINTENANCE CONSULTANT INFORMED US THAT THE BREAK MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING INTO THE BOOSTER, AND THAT A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF SUCH PART WOULD BE NECESSARY. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WOULD BE $946.00, PLUS TAXES, BECAUSE THE PART WAS NOT COVERED BY THE VEHICLE?S WARRANTY. ON THE HONDA WARRANTY BOOKLET, THE AFOREMENTIONED PART IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE LIST OF NON-COVERED PARTS (PAGE 9); THE MALFUNCTION HAS NOT BEEN CAUSED BY THE IMPROPER USE OF OUR CAR: WE HAVE NEVER USED IT FOR BUSINESS OR UNUSUAL SPORT OR OTHER ACTIVITIES; THE MASTER CYLINDER IS THE ORIGINAL PART INSTALLED BY HONDA; AND NO THIRD-PARTY TECHNICIAN HAS EVER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR IT. THE DEFECT IN THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER IS VERY UNUSUAL; ALMOST ANY 2010 HONDA ACCORD WITH 31,409 MILES SHOWS THIS KIND OF ISSUE. HENCE, WE STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER MALFUNCTION IS A CASE OF A PART THAT IS DEFECTIVE IN MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP UNDER NORMAL USE. THIS TIME THEY WERE WARPED, BUT NOT AS BAD - SO THEY MACHINED THE ROTORS BECAUSE THIS TIME I WENT EARLY, WHEN I FIRST STATED NOTICING IT. NO ONE FIGURES OUT WHY... SO, IN TOTAL, MY BRAKES HAVE BEEN WORKED ON 5 TIMES IN 8 MONTHS. THE DEALER SAID THEY HAD A HONDA CORPORATE REP TAKE THE CAR FOR A RIDE, THEY WERE ADVISED THERE WAS NOT A BRAKE PROBLEM. BUT THAT RIDE WAS NOT TILL AFTER THEY MACHINED THE ROTORS, OF COURSE THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM - THIS TOTALLY HAS NO LOGIC TO EVEN HAVE THAT DONE! I STARTED MY RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AFTERWARDS & FOUND THE 2010 HONDA CLASS-ACTION LAW SUIT REGARDING THE REAR BRAKES ON SPECIFIC YRS OF THE HONDA ACCORD. HONDA WAS NOT REQUIRED TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE REAR BRAKES. HONDA ACCORD BRAKE PADS SHOULD LAST UP TO 70,000 MILES. UNFORTUNATELY THE REPAIR DEADLINE & ELIGIBILITY INCLUDED BRAKE PADS REPLACED WITH HONDA BRAKE PADS & INSTALLATION OF THOSE BRAKE PADS WITHIN 3 YRS OF WHEN THE CAR WAS FIRST SOLD. I'VE OWNED MY ACCORD FOR 4 YRS & I REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS W/ AFTERMARKET PADS. SINCE I HAVE LITTLE RECOURSE OTHER THAN TO WRITE HONDA OR GO TO THE LOCAL SERVICE DEPT, I OPTED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE W/ OTHER CONSUMERS, RATHER THEN REMAIN SILENT & FRUSTRATED.
