The infotainment unit on the 2018 Honda Accord does not properly sync up with a music player (such as any given phone) over Bluetooth. This is manifested by the incorrect display of the time the music track that has been played. Honda has been unwilling to properly address the issue via a recall or a software update. Their typical response (to just about every issue) is to take it to the dealer, who is not able to properly troubleshoot and address issues which were caused by the Honda's failures in software (and hardware) development. Ad video of the issue is available (Honda dealer and Honda pretty much refuse to take the videos as an evidence of the issue).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA ACCORD. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE A PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COLONIAL HONDA OF DARTMOUTH (LOCATED AT 225 STATE RD, DARTMOUTH, MA 02747, (508) 996-6800) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200. *AS
MULTIPLE ERRORS INVOLVING VEHICLE'S COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM (CMBS). CMBS SYSTEM FAILS REGULARLY (APPROXIMATELY EVERY 120 MILES OF DRIVING) DURING ROUTINE USE AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. SYSTEM FAILURE SHUTS DOWN ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC), COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM (CMBS) AND DISPLAYS ERROR TO "SEE YOUR DEALER".
FOR A WHILE NOW, IM NOTICING THAT THE AUTO HIGH BEAMS ON MY 2018 HONDA ACCORD EX-L 2.0T CAR ISNT WORKING. I'VE TRIED RESETING THE DISPLAY AUDIO UNIT, I'VE TRIED DISABLING/RE-ENABLING AUTO HIGH BEAM FEATURE BY PULLING THE HIGH BEAM STICK ON THE STEERING COLUMN - NONE OF THIS HAS FIXED THE ISSUE. BASIC OBD2 (VIA BLUETOOTH AND ANDROID APP) DO NO INDICATE ANY FAULT CODES. WILL BE TAKING THIS INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT.
I WAS DRIVING ON EXPRESS WAY ON 7/5/19 EARLY MORNING. THE CAR SHAKE AND SLOW DOWN ALL OF THE SUDDEN. I WOULD BE KILLED IF THERE'S A CAR BEHINE ME. I PULLED TO THE CURB, AND TRY TO RESTART THE CAR AND GO, BUT IT KEEPS SHAKUNG IN THE BEGINNING. SO I CALLED HONDA FOR TOW TRUCK, THAT A LEASED CAR. BUT LATER I TRIED AGAIN, IT SEEMS THE CAR COULD GO, SO I DROVE HOME. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON FOR FEW DAYS, AND THE TRANSMISSION COULDN'T SHIFT SMOOTHLY SINCE THEN. LOOKS LIKE A LEMON. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA ACCORD. AFTER THE CONTACT SECURED HIS CHILD IN THE VEHICLE AND CLOSED THE PASSENGER DOOR, THE VEHICLE LOCKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR WITH THE KEY FOB. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO OPEN THE VEHICLE AND RESCUE THE CHILD AFTER APPROXIMATELY TWENTY MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA WORLD (13600 BEACH BLVD, WESTMINSTER, CA, 714-890-8900) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE MAIN MODULAR UNIT. THE FAILED PART ALSO CAUSED OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
WHEN DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL AND FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM ENABLED THE CAR WILL AT RANDOM TIMES APPLY THE BREAKS WHEN THERE IS NOTHING IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. SO FAR THIS HAS HAPPENED DURING INTERSTATE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2-4 TIMES IN THE FIRST 10,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP.
TODAY I WAS DRIVING HOME, DOING 45 MILES PER HOUR. THIS IS A TWO LANE ROAD, THERE WERE NO CARS NEAR ME. SUDDENLY, THE CAR BEEPED TWICE, THE BRAKE SIGN CAME ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR STOPPED VIOLENTLY. THE SEAT BEAT LOCKED DOWN ACROSS ME. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO ONE BEHIND ME. MY NECK AND RIGHT SHOULDER ARE NOW HURTING. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED A MILE FROM MY HOME. MY HUSBAND CALLED THE HONDA DEALER WHEN I GOT HOME TO REPORT THE INCIDENT. THIS IS THE THIRD INCIDENT SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, BUT THIS TIME WAS A MORE VIOLENT STOP. EACH TIME THERE WAS NOTHING IN FRONT OR BESIDE THE CAR. THANKFULLY, EACH TIME NO OTHER CAR WAS DIRECTLY BEHIND ME.
TODAY 06-26-19 I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 5MPH OUT OF A PARKING LOT GOING VERY SLOW, I WAS READY TO TURN ONTO A ROAD THAT IS NOT BUSY AT ALL, OUT OF NOWHERE MY CAR BRAKES LOCKED VIOLENTLY SUDDENLY. THE BRAKE LIGHT ALERT WENT OFF AS WELL, WHEN THERE WAS NOTHING IN FRONT OF MY. NOT A CAR, NOT A PERSON, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. MY CAR STOPPED SO HARD THAT IT JERKED MY NECK. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE & AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR NOW, ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE TO DRIVE 60 MILES ON THE INTERSTATE TO MY JOB. I'M NOT SURE IF OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE. PLEASE FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON WITH MY CAR.
WHILE STATIONARY OR IN MOTION, THE VEHICLE HORN SOUNDS CONSTANTLY WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNED UP UNTIL THE WHEEL IS STRAIGHTENED OUT.THE FUSE IN THE STEERING COLUMN TRIPS/DISCONNECTS SOMEHOW AND THE PROBLEM RETURNED WITHIN WEEKS OF REPAIR.
The issue first appeared during my initial test drive before purchase in 2019. The salesman stated it was a low-battery issue from the car sitting on the lot. Since then, the same problem has recurred multiple times. The vehicle displays multiple warning lights — “Electric Powertrain Fault,” Check Engine, EPS, and VSA — with reduced power, jerky acceleration, and temporary loss of throttle response. This poses a safety risk when merging or crossing intersections. Vehicle: 2018 Honda Accord Sport 1.5T, approximately 52,000 miles. Diagnostic codes retrieved include U0401-68 (ECM/Electric Powertrain Communication Failure), U0416-68 (VSA/EPS System Malfunction), and P0302 (Cylinder #2 Misfire). These faults have occurred despite replacement of spark plugs, ignition coils, and fuel injectors (all OEM Honda parts). Dealerships have not been able to permanently correct the issue. The problem appears related to the ECM or communication network between the powertrain and stability systems. The sudden loss of power and unpredictable throttle response during normal driving creates a serious safety hazard.
CAR APPLIES BRAKES WHILE IN FORWARD MOTION. THIS ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE CRUISE IS SET. I HAVE NOTICED THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE SUN IS SHINING INTO THE CAR. THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW TIMES THE CAR HAS APPLIED THE BRAKES, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OVERTAKE ANOTHER CAR. TWICE THE CAR HAS APPLIED THE BRAKES WHEN THERE ARE MARKINGS ON THE HIGHWAY SUCH AS A SCHOOL ZONE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO A HONDA DEALER, AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM.
PAINT CHIPS AND SCRATCHES EASILY. CLEARCOAT AND PAINT STARTED PEELING. THE SLIGHTEST THING WILL SCRATCH OR CHIP THE PAINT. SCRATCHES ON THE HOOD AND ROOF ARE PRETTY SIGNIFICANTLY ( REALLY NOTICEABLY DUE TO THE CAR BEING BLACK). ANY LITTLE THING THAT TOUCHES THE PAINT SEEMS TO DAMAGE IT. THE PAINT PEELED OFF IN MULTIPLE SPOTS ON THE ROOF AND THE TRUNK. NOW I CAN SEE THE ACTUAL CARE METAL. I BOUGHT THIS CAR (ACCORD 2018 2.0 T) IN NOVEMBER 2018, AND I STARTED NOTICING ALL THESE ISSUES COUPLE MONTHS AGO, BUT THINGS GOT WORSE VERY QUICKLY. CONTACTED DEALER AND THE CONTACTED HONDA, BUT I RECEIVED THE EXPECTED ANSWER THAT THEY CAN'T DO MUCH AS THIS FORM EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT. I USED TO HAVE A C 300 BLACK CAR THAT I USED TO PARK IN THE SAME PLACE EVERY DAY LIKE MY HONDA AND NEVER HAD THESE ISSUES. *TT *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES PER HOUR THE CAR'S BRAKES ENGAGED VIOLENTLY. THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT, BEHIND OR ON EITHER SIDE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS THIS OCCURRED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED NOTHING WAS WRONG.
COLLISION MITIGATION, LANE ASSIST, ROAD DEPARTURE, AND BRAKE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION BEFORE VEHICLE IS A YEAR OLD CAUSING VEHICLE TO LEAVE ROADWAY WHEN USING SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 50 MPH PREVENTING VEHICLE FROM STOPPING, AND/OR CAUSING STEERING WHEEL TO "ALERT" YOU OF LANE DEPARTURE WHILE DRIVING PROPERLY ALSO CAUSING VEHICLE TO "STEER" INTO SIDE OF 18 WHEELER WHILE TRAVELING SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 60MPH FOR INTERSTATE TRAVEL WITH PASSENGERS IN TOW. HAS HAPPENED FOR ROUGHLY 7,000 MILES. WHEN BROUGHT TO HONDA TO BE FIXED, WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER VEHICLE WARRANTY DUE TO HAVING "CLIPS" BROKEN OFF OF FRONT SENSOR. WAS ACCUSED OF SENSOR BEING HIT BY SOMETHING YET NO SIGN OF DAMAGE. HONDA REFUSED TO HAVE THIS FIXED AND SIMPLY "CLEARED" THE ALERTS CAUSING VEHICLE TO NOT HAVE USE OF ANY SAFETY FEATURES BUT ALSO NOT SHOW ANY MAINTENANCE CODES AS WELL. HONDA SERVICE MANAGER STATED SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS A "JUNEBUG" CAN CAUSE THIS TO MALFUNCTION AND THAT IS WHY CUSTOMERS CARRY COLLISION WITH INSURANCE. STATES ALOT ABOUT HONDA'S QUALITY IF A SIMPLE JUNEBUG CAN CAUSE AN ENTIRE $30,000 VEHICLES SAFETY FEATURES TO MALFUNCTION AND A SERVICE MANAGER NOT WANT TO COMPLY WITH SAFETY STANDARDS DUE TO SOME 2$ BROKEN CLIPS THAT CAN BREAK BY SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN A LOUISIANA ROADWAY. WHAT DOES THIS STATE ABOUT THESE VEHICLES UP NORTH DEALING WITH SNOW WITH A SENSOR THAT SITS UNDERNEATH THE FRONT BUMPER?

WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, VARIOUS UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HESITATE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BACK HOME. THE CONTACT CALLED BRILLIANCE HONDA OF CRYSTAL LAKE (LOCATED AT 680 W TERRA COTTA AVE, CRYSTAL LAKE, IL 60014, (815) 459-6400), BUT DID NOT RECEIVE A CALL BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,120.
PAINT IS PEELING AND COMING OFF. IT'S LIKE THERE IS NO CLEAR COAT
PURCHASED NEW 2018 HONDA ACCORD SPORT FROM DEALERSHIP. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT WILL BRAKE WITH NO WARNING AND ANYTHING IN SIGHT. WE SEE TO EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE ALMOST ON A WEEKLY BASIS. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE 3RD TIME SINCE MARCH. OF COURSE THEY SAY THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND UNTIL CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE SERVICE MANAGER CONTINUALLY TRY'S TO REFER US TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND STANDS FIRM THAT THIS IS PART OF THE BRAKE MITIGATION SAFETY SYSTEM AND IS "NORMAL". I HAVE PERSONALLY BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AT ROUGHLY 70MPH ON A CLEAR DAY WITH NO VEHICLES IN SIGHT, NO ROAD CONSTRUCTION, STRAIGHT HIGHWAY, NOT MERGING ON OR OFF THE ROAD AND THE SYSTEM LOCK DOWN WITH THREE CHILDREN IN THE BACKSEAT. MOST RECENTLY MY GIRLFRIEND WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM LOCKED DOWN CAUSING A GENTLEMEN TO SWERVE OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID HITTING HER IN THE REAR END. I'M SICK OF HEARING EXCUSES FROM HONDA AND THE DEALERSHIP! THIS IS NOT A SAFETY FEATURE, THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANGER THE SYSTEM CAN BE CUT OFF BUT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CUT OFF A "SAFETY" FEATURE ON A BRAND NEW CAR WITH LESS THAN 40K MILES. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON LINE REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND I CERTAINLY HOPE IT DOESN'T TAKE SOMEONE BEING KILLED BEFORE HONDA CORRECTS THIS ISSUE. I HAVE DOCUMENTED SIX OCCURRENCES OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM LOCKING DOWN JUST IN THE PAST MONTH. I HAVE ALSO SPOKE WITH HONDA CERTIFIED TECHS & SERVICE WRITERS WHOM HAVE ALL STATED THEY'RE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND NO FIX IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. IF SO I SUGGEST HONDA PURCHASE THIS 2018 HONDA ACCORD BACK!
I WAS DRIVING ON ON-410 SOUTH TO WORK ON MAY 24 ,2019 MORNING AND I TRIED TO OPEN THE SUNVISORS TO GET RID OF SUNLIGHT COMING FROM FRONT AS SOON AS I OPENED THE SUNVISORS THEY FELL DOWN AND CAME ACROSS THE FACE AND I WAS JUST ABOUT TO HIT THE CAR AT FRONT JUST BECAUSE OF IMPROPER VISIBILITY .
MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT 35 MPH WITH NO TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME AND ONE VEHICLE TO THE DRIVER-SIDE REAR. WITH NO OBSTRUCTIONS IN THE ROAD OR TRAFFIC AHEAD OF MY VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST A HALF MILE, THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM ACTIVATED FLASHING A "BRAKE" WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD AND LOCKED THE BRAKES CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO COME TO A QUICK AND COMPLETE STOP IN LIVE TRAFFIC. ATTEMPTS TO OVERRIDE THE SYSTEM BY APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FAILED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I ESTIMATE THAT IT TOOK BETWEEN TWO TO THREE SECONDS BEFORE THE SYSTEM DISENGAGED AND I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE AGAIN TO OPERATING SPEED, NARROWLY AVOIDING A COLLISION.
THREE TIMES NOW I HAVE HAD THE EMERGENCY BREAKS ACTIVATE FOR NO REASON. NO ONE WAS INJURED THE FIRST TIME AS THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING VERY SLOW. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED THOUGH, I WAS INJURED. I WAS DRIVING APPROX. 45 MPH DOWN A BUSY STREET WHEN THE CAR STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED. NOT ONLY DID THIS SCARE ME, BUT I WAS IN EXTREME PAIN AFTERWARDS. WHEN THE PAIN GOT WORSE AND I DEVELOPED BRUISING ON MY NECK I WENT TO SEE A SPECIALIST AND HE CONFIRMED THAT I HAVE WHIPLASH. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT THE SENSOR IS JUST SENSITIVE. THEY CHECKED IT OUT BUT OFFERED NO SOLUTION. I HAVE KEPT THE FEATURE TURNED OFF SINCE THIS HAPPENED. THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED WITH THE FEATURE DISABLED. MY SON WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME. WE WERE BOTH SHAKEN UP PRETTY BADLY. I AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR. EVERY TIME THE DASH LIGHTS UP FOR ANY REASON, I FLINCH. I HAVE HAD TO MISS WORK DUE TO THE INJURIES THAT I RECEIVED. I AM A SINGLE MOM TO FIVE KIDS, I CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS WORK DUE TO POOR DESIGN AND ENGINEERING OF THIS VEHICLE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR THINKING THAT THIS FEATURE WAS A SAFETY FEATURE. IT HAS CERTAINLY PROVEN TO BE THE OPPOSITE!
HAVE AUTOMATIC BRAKING AND LANE ASSIST DRIVING. BRAKES ON ITS OWN WITH NOTHING IN FRONT. HAPPENED TWICE. DEALER CALLS IT A GLITCH. I CALL IT VERY DANGEROUS. POLICE OFFICER WAS BEHIND ME WHEN IT HAPPENED LAST. GOOD THING HE HAD GOOD REFLEXES AND THE SPEED LIMIT WAS ONLY 45 MPH I WAS IN THE CENTER OF MY LANE WITH NO OBSTRUCTIONS, NO VEHICLES COMING FROM THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. TURNED OFF THE PROGRAM AND HAVEN'T USED IT SINCE. SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID WOULD HAVE TO KEEP CAR AND TEST DRIVE UNTIL IT OCCURRED. I WILL DO THIS, BUT AM AFRAID THEY WILL BE KEEPING THE CAR FOR AWHILE BECAUSE IT HAPPENS OUT OF THE BLUE. IT'S HAPPENED TWICE IN A PERIOD OF TWO MONTHS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR FOUR MONTHS. ANOTHER PROBLEM..PAINT IS SPOTTING ON CAR LIKE IT WAS HIT WITH ACID. HAD PROTECTIVE WAX PUT ON THE WEEK I PURCHASED IT. VEHICLE HAS 3500 MILES ON IT. PAINT ALSO SHOWS TONS OF ORANGE PEEL. I PAID A LOT FOR THIS MODEL. EXPECTED MORE.
THE EXTERNAL PAINT OF OUR VEHICLE IS THIN AND FRAGILE, IT CHIPS AND SCRATCHES QUITE EASILY EVEN IF CONTACTED BY PLASTIC SUCH AS A CHILD SEAT OR CAMERA LENSE COVER, NEVER MIND WHAT AN INCONSIDERATE PARKING NEIGHBOR, SHOPPING CART OR ROAD DEBRIS DO TO IT. I HAVE CONTACTED THE OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP; WHO OFFERED TO FIX THE PAINT, THEN REVOKED HIS OFFER. AND AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO., INC. WHO OPENED A CASE AND THEN CLOSED IT, IGNORING MY RESPONSES TO THEIR COMMUNICATIONS. ATTACHED ARE COPIES OF MY COMMUNICATIONS.
WITH ONLY 8200 MILES AND 5 MONTHS ON THE ROAD, ORIGINAL BATTERY STARTED TO LEAK AND TWICE EXPERIENCED A TIME WHEN PUSH BUTTON START WOULD NOT START THE ENGINE. STRANDED. ONCE THE PROBLEM RESOLVED ITSELF F AFTER 20 MINUTES. THE SECOND TIME REQUIRED A JUMP START TO GET THE ENGINE GOING. NO PROBLEMS ONCE THE ENGINE GOT STARTED. REPLACED LEAKING BATTERY AND PROBLEM HAS NOT RETURNED.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2018 HONDA ACCORD SPORT JUNE OF 2018. I HAVE HAD MY CAR INTO HONDA MORE THAN 7 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE MITIGATION SYSTEM. THE CAR BRAKES ON ITS OWN WITH NO REASON. HONDA SAID IT COULD BE AN AIR FRESHENER HANGING ON THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, BUGS, RAIN, SNOW, AND EVEN A SHADOW FROM A BRIDGE. THEY SAY EVERY TIME I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN THAT NO ERRORS COME UP IN THE SYSTEM SO THEY RESET THE COMPUTER AND SAY IT IS OPERATING AS THE VEHICLE IS DESIGNED TO. I HAVE BEEN IN A 75MPH OR MORE ZONE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND THE CAR WILL BRAKE DOWN TO 40 OR LESS IN AN INSTANT. IT SENDS EVERYTHING IN MY VEHICLE FLYING. HONDA DENIED A HONDA BUY BACK BECAUSE THEY DID A SYSTEM UPDATE FOR THE BRAKE MITIGATION SYSTEM THAT HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC YET. THEY ARE CLEARLY AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HOW DANGEROUS IT IS BUT THEY EXPECT ME TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT. I AM TOO SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF INJURING MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE. THE COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM AND ADAPTIVE CRUSE CONTROL (ACC) HAS ON TWO OCCASIONS TURNED OFF AT HIGHWAY SPEED - POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF YOU ARE DEPENDING ON THE SYSTEM TO REGULATE YOUR SPEED IN TRAFFIC. THE CAR MUST BE STOPPED AND RESTARTED TO REACTIVATE THE SYSTEM. ALSO, THE SYSTEM AT TIMES APPLIES BRAKING WHEN THERE ARE NO OTHER CARS OR OTHER OBSTACLES IN IT'S LINE OF SIGHT. THIS ALSO SEEMS TO HAPPEN (NOT ALWAYS) WHEN OVERTAKING A TRACTOR TRAILER AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND OTHER HONDA OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE, TYPICALLY WITH THE DEALER NOT BEING ABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. APPARENTLY THE ERROR CODES RESET WHEN THE CAR IS RESTARTED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HENDRICK HONDA BRADENTON (5515 14TH ST W, BRADENTON, FL 34207) AND WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED DUE TO THE WARNING LIGHTS NO LONGER BEING ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT SHE HAD REPLACED THE BATTERY. ON ANOTHER OCCASION WHILE DRIVING, THE BRAKES INDEPENDENTLY ACTIVATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS NOT ABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAILURE CODE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO EXCEED 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THE DEALER CALLED THE CONTACT AND THE CONTACT EXPLAINED THE FAILURE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT FUEL INJECTION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVER 36,000 MILES AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND NEGOTIATED A PRICE FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WILL RANDOMLY STOP WORKING WHEN I APPROACH A CAR ON THE INTERSTATE. USUALLY THIS WILL HAPPEN 1-3 TIMES PER 100 MILE TRIP. I NEED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT IF I PULL OVER, TURN THE CAR OFF, THEN TURN IT ON AGAIN THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL FUNCTION AGAIN. PULLING OFF ON THE SIDE OF AN INTERSTATE OR EXIT RAMP IS HAZARDOUS. APPARENTLY SOME PEOPLE ARE PUTTING THEIR CAR IN NEUTRAL WHILE STILL DRIVING ON INTERSTATES, TURNING THE CAR OFF, THEN ON AGAIN.
ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC) FAILED WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 40 MPH. APPROACHING THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME WHICH WAS RAPIDLY SLOWING/STOPPING, THE ACC FAILED TO SLOW MY VEHICLE WHICH FORCED ME TO MANUALLY APPLY HARD BRAKING AT THE LAST MOMENT TO AVOID A COLLISION. WHEN I LOOKED DOWN THERE WAS AN ERROR MESSAGE ON MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WHICH READ "COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM PROBLEM. SEE YOUR DEALER". THE WEATHER AT THE TIME WAS CLEAR AND 62 DEG. F, AND THE VEHICLE WAS CLEAN WITH NO DIRT NOR OBSTRUCTIONS ON THE FRONT RADAR UNIT NOR THE WINDSHIELD (CAMERA AREA). THE ACC COULD NOT BE RESTARTED UNTIL I PULLED THE CAR OVER AND SHUT IT DOWN/RESTARTED IT, WHICH THEN CLEARED THE ERROR MESSAGE AND ENABLED ME TO REINITIATE THE ACC SYSTEM. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY DEFECT!

THIS IS ODD SINCE THE VEHICLE WILL APPLY BRAKES TO MAINTAIN SPEED IF THERE'S A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THE CAR, BUT ON DOWNHILLS ALL IT WILL DO IS MAKE SEVERAL DOWNSHIFTS TO TRY AND MAINTAIN THE SPEED. EVERY OTHER CAR I'VE DRIVEN THAT HAS ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WILL APPLY BRAKES TO KEEP THE VEHICLE SPEED FROM INCREASING IN AN UNCONTROLLED MANNER. OF COURSE IF YOU TAP THE BRAKES YOURSELF CRUISE CONTROL IS DISABLED. A SIMPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE WOULD RESOLVE THIS ISSUE.

ON ENTERING A TOUCHLESS CARWASH, WINDSHIELD LOUDLY CRACKED. THERE WAS A MINOR STONE CHIP NEAR THE START OF THE TWO CRACKS THAT APPEARED, BUT IT DID NOT PENETRATE THE FIRST PANEL OF GLASS. TWO CRACKS WERE APPROXIMATELY 18 INCHES LONG

THIS HAD HAPPENED ONE OTHER TIME BEFORE, LUCKILY THE CAR BEHIND ME WASN'T FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY AND I WAS GOING LESS THAN 30MPH. A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER THAT WHILE GOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WET ROAD CONDITIONS, A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON STATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM AND TO SEE DEALER. ONCE THAT WARNING COMES ON CRUISE CONTROL ALSO DISENGAGES. THIS WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON ONE OTHER TIME, WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH DRY ROAD CONDITIONS. IF THE CAR IS RESTARTED THE WARNING RESETS AND ALL SYSTEMS ARE UP AND FUNCTIONING AGAIN.

I HAVE A 2018 HONDA ACCORD 2.0T TOURING WITH THE 10-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS EXTREMELY ROUGH FROM 2-3 GEAR, 3-4TH AND DOWNSHIFTING INTO PRETTY MUCH ANY GEAR. IT'S BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN RESOLVED. I WAS TOLD IT WAS JUST HOW THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED ON THIS CAR, WHICH I IMMEDIATELY DISPUTED BECAUSE I'VE DRIVEN OTHER EXACT MODELS THAT DID NOT EXHIBIT THIS ROUGH SHIFTING BEHAVIOR. I ALSO AM DISSATISFIED WITH THE LENGTH OF TIME IT TAKES THE VEHICLE TO ENGAGE REVERSE FROM PARK. IT CAN TAKE UP TO 3 SECONDS FOR REVERSE TO ENGAGE AT WHICH TIME IT JUST SLAMS INTO GEAR. I'VE CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA AND FILED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE VARIOUS CONCERNS I HAVE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I ALSO HAVE A PAINT DEFECT FROM THE FACTORY ON THE REAR TRUNK LID. HONDA INSTRUCTED ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHICH IS HARD WITH MY SCHEDULE. In 2019 I was in a parking lot driving at about 5 mph. A man left a store and stepped into the street over 20 ft in front of my car and the car suddenly slammed on the brakes and came to a complete jerking stop without me hitting the brakes or applying any pressure since he was so far away I didn’t need to fully brake. I reported this to the Honda dealership during my next service and was told it must’ve been a fluke occurrence or exaggeration. During multiple instances over the years I have felt the car brake on its own while I’m entering an intersection even though there is nothing in the way and no reason to activate the braking system.

HAD SAFELITE COME OUT TO REPAIR AND THEY SAID THEY ARE GETTING A TON OF THESE NEW ACCORDS IN FOR REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT BUT MY CHIPS WERE TOO SMALL TO REPAIR. GUESS I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THEM TO CRACK AND SPREAD AND GET A WHOLE NEW $1,000 WINDSHIELD. THIS GLASS SEEMS WAY TOO PRONE TO CHIPS AND CRACKING. OTHER OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR WINDSHIELD CRACKING WITH NO SIGNS OF VISIBLE DAMAGE.

HOWEVER, THE ISSUES RECURRED WITH THE BLIND SPOT MONITORING ,THE BACKUP CAMERA AND THE PARKING SENSOR ON THE ONBOARD COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONING AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED . THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND ALL OF THOSE ISSUES WERE FIXED EXCEPT THE CENTER CONSOLE PIECE THAT KEEPS DISLODGING. THE MANUFACTURER SAID TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER TO GET THE ISSUE FIXED. THE CONSOLE PIECE REMAINS UNFIXED AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.
