THE BOLT IN THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS CROSS THREADED AND COMPLETELY LOOSE, IT CAME OUT OF THE SUSPENSION. THE BOLT IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO COMPLETELY LOOSE, COULD BE REMOVED WITH FINGERS. MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE. *AK
LOCATION OF IGNITION SWITCH IS TOO LOW, CAUSING DRIVER'S KNEE TO TURN IGNITION KEY TO THE OFF POSITION.

1997 HONDA CIVIC AIR BAG LIGHT ON. DETERMINED AIR BAG MODULE IS BAD. SEARCHED THE WEB AND IT SEEMS THOUSANDS OF ACCORD, CIVIC AND PRELUDE OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS SET IT SPEEDS UP TO SPEED BEFORE ENGAGING. CRUISE CONTROL ON THIS MODEL IS SUPPOSE TO WORK THIS WAY. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE'S SPEED DROPS VERY QUICKLY BETWEEN FIVE AND SEVEN MPH CAUSING THE DISTANCE BETWEEN HER VEHICLE AND THE ONE BEHIND TO BE VERY CLOSE, DEALER STATES THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. *SLC

1997 HONDA CIVIC EX FAULTY SEAT BELT CUSTOMER STATES SHE STUCK IN THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT FOR TWENTY MINUTES BEFORE CUTTING HERSELF FREE EVEN THOUGH HONDA HAS A LIFETIME SEATBELT WARRANTY THEY WILL NOT COVER IT BECAUSE OF INTENTIONAL CUTTING**SB THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OF THE VEHICLE, SHE TRIED TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE SEATBELT WOULD NOT RELEASE HER. OVERTIME THE RELEASE BUTTON BEGAN TO STICK. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF NOT ONLY HER BUT HER BOYFRIEND TRYING TO RELEASE HER FROM THE VEHICLE, THE CONSUMER CUT THE SEATBELT IN ORDER TO GET FREE. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE CONTACTED HONDA AND INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE DEFECT AND ALSO NOTIFIED THE CORPORATION BUT TO NO AVAIL. BOTH PARTIES WOULD REFERENCE HER BACK AND FORTH TO CONTACT THE OTHER. WHEN THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER THEY INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE SEATBELT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY DUE TO THE FACT THE SEATBELT WAS INTENTIONALLY CUT AND THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO. THE CONSUMER WANTS THE SEATBELT TO BE REPAIRED UNDER THE WARRANTY. *TR
VEHICLE WAS ACCIDENTIALLY SHUT OFF DUE TO DESIGN OF IGNITION KEY SYSTEM, EASILY ENGAGED WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE.
THE DESIGN/LOCATION OF THE IGNITION SWITCH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING.
COMPUTER FAILED WHICH CAUSED TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKES, PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITHIN 24HOURS BEFORE FAILURE, THERE WAS A TICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE FIREWALL. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE REARENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 30-35 MPH, AND THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER'S OR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAGS. CAUSE HAS NOT BEEN FOUND. *AK

AT 24,000 MILES THE FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE PREMATURLEY WORN OUT, AND THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WERE RESURFACED OR CUT DUE TO PULSATION. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATES TO 4000 TO 5000 RPMS WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE THAN HAS TO BE PUT IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO STOP. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
REAR VIEW MIRROR SWIVELS EXCESSIVELY WHEN FLIPPED TO REDUCE HEADLIGHT GLARE. MIRROR NEEDS TO BE READJUSTED WHILE DRIVING CAUSING DISTRACTION. DEALER SAYS IT'S NORMAL, BUT I DON'T THINK SO. THIS IS A SERIOUS DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSES A POTENIAL HAZARD.

BRAKES PULSATE,.WHEN APPLYING BRAKES THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES, AND CONSUMER GETS LESS THAN IDEAL BRAKING. DEALER HAS DONE VARIOUS THINGS TO THE BRAKING SYSTEM, INCLUDING TOTAL REPLACEMENT OF ALL HARDWARE. THERE CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM EVERY 4,000 MILES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

IN A PANIC TRAVELING AT 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SPIN, THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER ONCE LANDING ON THE HOOD. VEHICLE EXPERIENCED NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAG'S. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *YC
BRAKE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED 4 TIMES WITHIN 45,000 DUE TO POOR ROTOR DESIGN. *AK
A DESIGN FLAW IN REAR WINDOW MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE DRIVER TO SEE OVER THE TRUNK OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE. YH
RANDOM OCCURRENCES OF CAR SUDDENLY BEGINNING TO SHAKE AS THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. TYPICALLY OCCURS ON HIGHWAY GOING SPEEDS OF 60 MPH OR GREATER. HOWEVER, AFTER SHAKING BEGINS, SLOWING DOWN OR SPEEDING UP HAS NO EFFECT - THE SHAKING CONTINUES. *AK
IF THE CAR IS TRAVELING AT 60 MPH OR GREATER AND THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE CAR SHAKES UNTIL THE BRAKES ARE RELEASED. *AK
RIGHT SIDE OF TRUNK LEAKS ,CAUSING THE OWNER TO PUT EVERYTHING IN THE BACK SEAT INSTEAD OF THE TRUNK. POSSIBLE HAZARD IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR AND ITEMS IN BACK SEAT WERE TO FLY FORWARD. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW COMES OFF TRACK AND DOES NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO BE ROLLED UP. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING NOTICED AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON AT ALL TIMES. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
THE FRONT ROTORS HAVE NOW TWICE FAILED IN 21,000 MILES, DUE TO EXCESSIVE WARPING. THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED AT 9,000 MILES; THE SECOND BEGAN AT APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES AND BECAME INCREASINGLY MORE SEVERE. HONDA HAS PROVIDED NO COLORABLE EXPLANATION FOR WHY THIS WOULD OCCUR. WITH RESPECT TO DRIVING, THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER CLAIMS THAT THIS POSES NO SAFETY ISSUE. I RESPECTFULLY DISAGREE. THE WARPING HAS RESULTED IN SEVERE SHIMMYING IN THE CAR (AND, AT SOME SPEEDS, A HARD AND SUDDEN PULL) UPON APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES, AFFECTING BOTH STEERING AND STOPPING, AND OVERALL HANDLING. DESPITE THE CAR'S RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE, THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER (SF HONDA) HAS DEEMED THIS TO BE A "REGULAR" WEAR AND TEAR ITEM, AND THUS ONLY MACHINED DOWN THE ROTORS TO RESOLVE THE MOST RECENT WARPING. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF (OR EXPERIENCED) SUCH ROTOR WARPING IN 15 YEARS OF DRIVING. I AM ALSO CONFIRMING BY LETTER (COPIED TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER) THE SUBSTANCE OF THIS QUESTIONNAIRE. I FURTHER NOTE THAT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN HAS PREVIOUSLY BEEN ISSUED WITH RESPECT TO THE 1997 CIVIC'S BRAKES. *AK
