RECALL 99E015000 REPAIRS DID CORRECT THE PROBELM, FLOOR MAT CAUSED ACCELERATOR PEDAL NOT RETURN TO THE IDLE POSITION, RESULTING IN A COLLISION. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
SCOTT HONDA MAILED A POST CARD TO MY HOME IN FEB 2OOO FOR CAR RECALL. UPON CALLING HOINDA THE LEASE AGENT PUT ME ON HOLD AND SPOKE TO THE SERVICE DEPT. SHE THEN PROCEEDED TO SAY THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE ENGINE PROBLEMS UNTIL MY CAR REACHED BETWEN 60,000-70,000 MILES. SHE STATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD RUMBLE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WOUDL COME ON DUE TO FAULTY WIRING,ETC. I EXPALINED THAT MY CAR WAS SERVICE AND THE ENGINE LIHGT CAME ON DURING MY INSPECTION AND THAT I SPENT 450.00 ON GETTING MY CAR REWIRED ETC.. SHE EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING ELSE WIHT THE CAR AND IT WOULD OCCUR AT A HIGHER MILAGE AND TO BRING MY CAR IN. I ASKED HER WAHT TO DUE IN CASE I DON'T EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS OR IF I LOST MY RECALL POSTCARD . SHE STATED THAT IT WAS NO PROBLEM AND TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP MGR. AND THAT HE WOULD HONOR THE SITUATION AND GIVE ME A NEW POSTCARD.. UPON MY ENIGINE LIGHT TURING ON...AND MY CONTACTING HONDA SERIVE THE GENTLEMAN WAS RATHER SCARASTIC AND RUDE AND ACCUSED ME OF NOT TAKING CAR OF MY CAR AS WELL AS STATING THAT HE KNEW OF NO RECALLS FOR A 1997 CIVIC. WOULD SOMEONE BE SO KIND AS TO INVESTIGATE THIS SITUATION?? HONDAS ARE RELIABLE CARS AND THE ENGINE SHOULD NOT HAVE PROBELEMS @ 3 YEARS OLD. WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE OVER THE CURB. THE CAR CONTINUED ACCELERATING HITTING A FENCE AND A TREE BEFORE RETURNING TO THE PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE STOPPED ONLY WHEN EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. DURING THE INCIDENT ALL SYSTEMS IN THE CAR APPEARED TO BE INEFFECTIVE INCLUDING BRAKING SYSTEMS. THE BEST ANALOGY IS TO THAT OF AN AMUSEMENT PARK RIDE. THERE WERE NO MECHANICAL DEFECTS FOUND WITH THE CAR AFTERWARDS. THE CAR WAS RECALLED PREVIOUSLY FOR FLOOR MAT/ACCELERATOR PROBLEMS AND WAS FIXED ACCORDING TO HONDA'S SPECIFICATIONS. THIS ACCIDENT OCCURED WELL AFTER THESE ALTERATIONS WERE MADE.*AK
CONSUMERS VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN 99I-002 TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE CABLE WHICH CAUSES THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO FEEL ROUGH, WHEN CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALER FOR REPAIR HE WAS DENIED SERVICES. NLM

SRS LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT PROBLEM; HOWEVER, TWO WEEKS LATER PROBLEM REOCCURRED.*AK
REAR WHEELS ARE TURNED INWARD, CAUSING TIRES TO WEAR OUT ON INSIDE. *AK
ACCELERATOR PEDAL FEELS ROUGH AND NOTCHY WHEN PRESSED. UNABLE TO ACCELERATE SMOOTHLY.*AK
FIRST THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT ROLL UP ALL THE WAY AND IT SEEMED TO OFF OF IT'S TRACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURED. I NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM AND WAS CHARGED ALMOST THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO GET IT FIXED. TWO MONTHS LATER THE SAME THIG HAPPENED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND I HAVE HAD A CAR MECHANIC ROLL THE WINDOW UP FOR ME BUT IT IS NOT FIXED.I ALSO KNOW OF ANOTHER PERSON WHO PURCHASED A 1997 HONDA CIVIC FROMA DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP AND HIS DRIVER SIDE WINDOW HAS DONE THE SAME THING. I COULD NOT FIND A RECALL ON THIS MODEL FOR THIS PROBLEM.*AK
DRIVER'S SIDEAND PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDOWS WERE GETTING STUCK DOWN DUE TO WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE. DEALER HAS REPAIRED BOTH WINDOWS. *AK
HONDA GUILTY OF BREACH OF WARRANTY AND IGNORING RECALL ISSUE. PAINT REPAIR DONE 4 TIMES INCLUDING 1 OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY DEFECTIVE PAINT PROBLEMS. SUNVISOR INTERMITTENTLY COMES OUT WHEN DRIVING WHICH SUDDENLY IS A HINDRANCE IN DRIVING. HORRIBLE RUST PROBLEMS THAT WILL CAUSE DEFECTS IN EQUIPMENT. CRUISE CONTROL FAILED UNDER WARRANTY HONDA DID NOT REPAIR ALTHOUGH THEY CLAIMED THEY WOULD INITIALLY.*AK
WHILE CONSUMER PLACED HER FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THE SRS LIGHT HAS COME ON. THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED AND WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG AND THE UNIT WAS RESET. THE SECOND TIME THE RESET IT WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR BRAKES. AFTER 4 MONTHS THE LIGHT IS BACK ON. THIS ORIGINALLY OCCURED 3 MONTHS OUT OF WARRENTY AND LYNWOOD HONDA WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE CAR SYSTEM. *AK

SRS LIGHT IS ON AND THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS DISABLED. THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *YH
I RECEIVED A NEW MOTOR FOR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW, BUT THAT SEEMS TO BE CAUSING ME PROBLEMS AGAIN. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, AND UPON COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP ANOTHER VEHICLE REAR ENDED CONSUMER, HOWEVER THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE MINOR INJURIES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. PLEASE PROVIDE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER.*JB
WHILE CONSUMER WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH WHEN THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITH OUT ANY IMPACT, FRONT AND DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS BLEWOUT. CONSUMER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. *YD
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THE MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED AND IT HAD DETERIORATED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*JB
AFTER RECALL REPAIR OF THE IGNITION SWITCH, 02 120 000, IT MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING IN THE PARK GEAR. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING HEADLIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKERED SIMULTANEOUSLY.*AK
SRS LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE AIR BAGS. *AK
VEHICLE HAS A SUBTLE LIGHT THAT WILL NOT GO OFF. IT'S AN INDICATION THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. *AK *LA
AFTER THE R & R MAIN SHAFT WAS REPLACED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. *PH MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IT WAS DETERMINED BY THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT THE R & R MAIN SHAFT CAM SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SENSOR FAILED THREE MORE TIMES AFTER IT WAS INITIALLY REPLACED. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION THE TECHNICIAN FOUND THAT THE OEM DRUM HAD A CRACK IN IT AND THAT WAS WHAT CAUSED THE SENSOR TO FAIL. *NM
