THERE APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE TEMPERLITE GLASS ON FOUR OF THE WINDOWS DESCRIBED. IT IS INSIDE THE TWO PANES OF GLASS WITH NO APPARANT CRACKS IN GLASS OR MOLDING. THE INSIDE OF THE GLASS, OR THE ADHESIVE MATERIAL USED IN BETWEEN THE GLASS IS BUBBLING WHICH CAUSES POOR VISION. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY INOPERABLE BECAUSE OF FEAR OF POOR VISIBILITY. I HAVE NOTIFIED HONDA AND AM PROVIDING THEM WITH A LETTER OF LIABILITY AND INFORMING THEM THAT I WILL BE CONTACTING SEVERAL CONSUMER SAFETY ADMINISTRATIONS AND COMMISSIONS SINCE THEY REFUSE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY PURCHASED FOR THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SEVERE PROBLEM WHICH SEEMS TO BE POSSIBLY CAUSED BY SOME TYPE OF CONTAMINATION OR VAPORS PRESENT WHEN THE GLASS WAS CONSTRUCTED, STORED, OR INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE.
I WAS TRAVELING AT LESS THAN 15 MILES PER HOUR. THE TRAFFIC WAS COMING TO A STOP. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP, THEY DID NOT WORK. I BEGAN PUMPING THEM, BUT THAT DID NOT WORK RIGHT AWAY. AFTER A FEW TIMES, THE BRAKES FINALLY WORKED, BUT IT WAS TOO LATE. I WAS ALREADY ABOUT TO REAR END THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS HAPPENED 2 WEEKS BEFORE WHEN A RELATIVE BORROWED THE CAR. HE ALMOST HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, BUT THEY WORKED AFTER HE PUMPED THEM. HONDA DOES NOT CARE. THEY HAD THE BRAKES TESTED AND SAID THEY WERE FINE. I DON'T CARE ABOUT A HUGE LAW SUIT. I JUST DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE. I WANT JUSTICE ANDTHE MONEY I HAVE LOST FOR THE DEDUCTIBLE, THE RENTAL CAR FEES, AND OTHER LOSSES. *AK
TIRE TOTALLY SEPARATED WHILE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE AT HIGH SPEED. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P185 65R14 )
FOR ALMOST 3 YEARS AND 38,000 MILES AFTER THE DEFECT WAS OBVIOUS, TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SHUDDERING, SLIPPING, AND GRINDING. WHEN STARTING OR BREAKING ON A WET SURFACE AND THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS, THE CAR LOSES CONTROL.*AK
TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED SEVERAL TIMES. CONSUMER HAS HAD VEHICLE AT DEALER, BUT DEALER COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE. *AK CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS A FLUTTER/SHUDDER SOUND WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND ENGINE KNOCKS ON ACCELERATION. DEALER FLUSHED TRANSMISSION THREE TIMES. REPLACED TRANSMISSION. BUT PROBLEM STILL EXIST. MANUFACTURER EXTENDED WARRANTY ON AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. *TT
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 70 MPH VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT AND VIBRATES VERY HARD WHICH MAY CAUSE A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
CVT TRANSMISSION ON HONDA CIVIC HX SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STANDING STOP. AFFECTS ACCELERATION. TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED IN 2000 AND DEVELOPED THE PROBLEM AGAIN IN 2002. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING 40-45MPH HAD A FRONTAL IMPACT, BUT DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, WHICH WON'T PROTECT THE OCCUPANTS IN THE CRASH. NO PRIOR PROBLEM WITH THIS SYSTEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
TRANSMISSION WOULD DISENGAGE AND/OR FREEZE INTO FIRST GEAR. THIS WOULD HAPPEN AT SPEEDS ANYWHERE FROM 1MPH TO 25MPH. THE FIRST TIME THAT IT HAPPENED THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM BUT AFTER BEING HOOKED TO COMPUTER THE PROBLEM DIAPPEARED AND COULD NOT BE REPEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO US AND ON THE REPAIR FORM IT SAID THAT CUSTOMER WILL DRIVE AND MONITOR. 3 MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING. MY WIFE HAD HE SON IN THE CAR AND LUCKEY ENOUGH THEY WERE ON A SIDE STREET AND NOT PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. *AK
CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO DISENGAGED AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES
THE RIGHT FRONT DOOR RATTLED AND THE REAR RIGHT DOOR PANEL WAS MISALIGNED. *YH
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO APPLY THE BRAKES VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD SUDDENLY, RESULTING IN A COLLISION WHICH TOTALED THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED. *AK
WHEN STOPPING VEHICLE MAKES NOISE FROM FRONT BRAKE, LIKE GRINDING METAL TO METAL NOISE. ALSO, VEHICLE EXPERIENCES EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER HAS TRIED REPLACING PADS, CLEANING DUST AND MACHINING FRONT ROTORS, BUT THE NOISE STILL EXISTS. *AK *ML
I THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES ON MY 1999 HONDA CIVIC. UNDER HEAVEY BRAKING THE REAR WHEELS LOCK UP WHILE THE FRONT DOES NOT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. WHEN IT HAPPENS THE REAR END OF THE CAR FISHTAILS WILDLY AND DOES CAUSE THE CAR TO INTO AN UNCONTROLABLE SPIN. I HAD MENTIONED THIS TO THE DEALER WHO HAD SAID IT IS NORMAL BECAUSE OF WEIGHT TRANSFER TO THE FRONT UNDER HEAVY BRAKING. ( THE PREPORTIONING VALVE IS THERE TO BALANCE THE BRAKE LINE PRESSURE BETWEEN THE BAKES SO THEY ARE EQUALIZE PRESSURE AS NEEDED?) THIS ALSO HAPPENS ON ICE COVER ROADS OR SLIPERY ROAD UNDER NORMAL BRAKING, THE BACK WHEELS LOCK UP BEFORE THE FRONT CAUSING THE BACKEN TO FISHTAIL. I HAVE NOT HAD A REPORTABLE ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF IT, BUT IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF THIS CONTINUES.*AK
AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING DRIVER TO HIT A PARKED VEHICLE ON RIGHTSIDE OF THE ROAD. DEALER HAS VEHICLE CURRENTLY. *AK
INTERIOR REAR DOOR HANDLE MECH. DOESN'T OPEN DOOR PROPERLY HANDLE MUST BE PLAYED (JIGGLED BACK AND FORTH), CHILD SAFTY IN BOTH POSITIONS, PROBLEM PERSISTS. WAS TOLD OF LUBRICATION PROBLEM BY DEALER ALL 6 TIMES ON SERVICE, HAS NEVER WORKED PROPERLY. *AK
FAILURE OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO ALERT OF ENGINE PROBLEMS, SO NO OIL OR ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF.THE ENGINE WASN'T GETTING ANY OIL TO IT,AND OF COURSE THIS ALSO INVOLVES A MALFUNCTION OF THE "OIL PUMP".
DESIGN FLAW OF THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR SHOULDER BELT OPERATED ERRATICLY TRAPPING THE CHILD IN THE SEAT WITH THE BELT PORTION WRAPPED AROUND THE CHILD NECK. HOWEVER, THE BELT WAS REMOVED BY CUTTING THE BELT OFF FROM AROUND CHILD'S NECK. DEALER REPLACED THE SHOULDER BELT. *YC
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH CONSUMER HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. *AK
CONSUMER'S SON HAD A FRONT END COLLISION, AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY- DRIVER WAS INJURED. NOT SURE OF HOW FAST DRIVER WAS TRAVELING. *AK
ENGINE IS MAKING A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND. TOOK TO DEALER TO DEALER 10 TIMES, CANNOT REMEDY SITUATION. *AK
WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK WHICH STARTS AT THE BASE OF THE WINDOW BELOW THE PLASTIC MOLDING AND IS CONTINUING TO GROW LARGER. DEALER CLAIMS THERE IS NO DEFECT WITH THE WINDOW, AND THE PROBABLE CAUSE IS A PEBBLE STRIKING THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN THE CRACK WAS INITIALLY NOTICED IT WAS ABOUT 3 IN. IN LENGTH. IT HAS GROWN CLOSE TO 6 IN.. THE WINDSHIELD OF A 2+ MONTH OLD CAR CANNOT DEVELOP A 6 IN CRACK FROM A LITTLE PEBBLE WITHOUT THERE BEING A STRESS FRACTURE OF SOME KIND WITH IN THE ORIGINAL GLASS. FURTHERMORE THE CRACK STARTS AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD FURTHER SUGGESTING A DEFECT. INTEND TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
WHEN VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE, GEAR JUMPS INTO REVERSE, RESULTING IN A MINOR COLLISION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING UPHILL, STOPPED AT A LIGHT. GOT READY TO PULL OFF, AND VEHICLE POPPED OUT OF DRIVE INTO REVERSE.CONTACTED DEALER. *AK
WIFE HAD STOPPED AT REDLIGHT. SHE BEGAN TO PROCEED IN DRIVE WHEN CAR SUDDENLY POPS INTO REVERSE. SHE ALMOST HIT A CAR BEHIND HER. HARD TO GET CAR OUT OF PARK AT TIMES.
WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGH AND TRYING TO PULL OUT, THE VEHICLE JUMPED OUT OF GEAR AND WENT INTO NEUTRAL, LOST CONTROL, AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. *AK
MISC. MULTIPLE SAFTEY ISSUES. IN SOUTHERN.CALIFORNIA, EVEN THE VISOR CLIP IS A SAFTEY ISSUE. ALSO, UPON REVIEWING THE INFORMATION PROVIDED I NOTICED THAT THE OPTION TO RELEASE INFO TO THE MFG., WAS SELECTED AS " NO" PLEASE DO SEND ME A AUTHORIZATION *AK
REAR SUSPENSION MAKES CLUNKING NOISE IN TURNS; SQUEAKING NOISE EMMITS FROM RIGHT REAR TRUNK AREA OVER BUMPS. *AK
POSSIBLE DESIGN FLAW WITH THE FRONT RUNNING LIGHTS / TAIL LIGHTS ARE NON-FUNCTIONING WHILE THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS ARE "ON" WHICH RESULT IN POOR VISIBILITY AND MAY BE POSSIBLE INJURIES IF COLLISION OCCURED DUE TO FAILURE. *YC
VEHICLE MAKES A POPPIMG SOUND IN THE RIGHT REAR SIDE OF CAR. OCCURS AT ALL SPEEDS. CONTACTED MANUFACTURER AND IT IS BELIEVED TO BE FAILURE IN THE VEHICLES FRAME WELDING.

WHILE DRIVING AROUND ANOTHER VEHICLE AND TURNING TO THE LEFT, VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND HIT A TREE, RESULTING A ROLLOVER. BUT ENGINE WAS STILL REVVING UP. AT THAT POINT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURN BACK ON, THE ENGINE STILL WAS REVVING. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
ON TWO SEPERATE OCCASIONS, ENGINE WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT START. DEALER COULD NOT DIAGNOSE. AT VARIOUS TIMES VEHICLE IS HARD TO START
WHILE DRIVING IN LOW SPEED VEHICLE POPPED OUT OF GEAR, AND CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES, AND THE BRAKES WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOORBOARD. DEALER CAN'T DETERMINE PROBLEM. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES GO STRAIGHT TO THE FLOORBOARD. ALSO, VEHICLE IS POPPING OUT OF GEAR. *AK

1999 HONDA CIVIC LX, DEVELOPED ENGINE NOISE, DIAGNOSED AS "SOMETHING LOOSE", NOT TO WORRY, GET IT FIXED AT NEXT MAJOR SERVICE INTERVAL. CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AT 82,000 MILES, DUE TO A FAILED O2 SENSOR. DISCOVERED NOISE WAS DUE TO A CRACKED MANIFOLD. PROBABLY WHAT CAUSED THE SENSOR TO FAIL. APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT. DEALER AND HONDA USA SAY THIS IS ONLY WARRENTIED TO 80,000 MILES, ESTIMATE ABOUT $700 TO REPAIR.*AK
HONDA AND AMERICAN FAMILY ACT LIKE THE ACCIDENT IS NO BIG DEAL. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK
AT 3:30 P.M. ON 1/19/99 MY DAUGHTER STOPPED AT A FRIENDS HOUSE AND PARKED THE 99 HONDA CIVIC EX JUST OUTSIDE HER FRIEND'S GARAGE. SHE LEFT THE SUNROOF OPEN SLIGHTLY AND REMOVED THE IGNITION KEYS. AT 4:15 P.M WHEN SHE CAME OUT TO GET INTO THE CAR TO LEAVE, SHE NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE SUNROOF AND COULD NOT SEE INSIDE THE WINDOWS. HER FRIEND CALLED 911. HOWEVER THE CAR WAS TOTALLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES BY THE TIME THE FIRE TRUCK ARRIVED. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS AND PROPERTY DAMAGE INCLUDED THE VINYL SIDING THAT MELTED & BUCKLED ON THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE. IT'S A SHEER MIRACLE THAT NO ONE WAS HURT AND NO MORE DAMAGE WAS DONE. HAD IT OCCURRED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE, THE HOUSE WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. MY HUSBAND CONTACTED THE PIEDMONT HONDA DEALERSHIP 1/19/99 AROUND 9:30 A.M. HOWEVER THEY WERE NOT INTERESTED IN THE FACT THAT OUR HONDA CAUGHT ON FIRE FOR WHAT HAS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL DEFECT OF SOME SORT.
WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 5 TO 15 MPH CONSUMER TRIED TO MAKE A TURN TO LEFT OR RIGHT, TIRES WOULD TOUCH THE VEHICLE'S BODY ON EITHER SIDE. CONSUMER HAD TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *AK
SPOILER DESIGN WHICH IS ABOUT 4 INCH ABOVE THE TRUCK OBSTRUCTS THE VIEW IN THE REAR WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
SPOILER PREVENTS A CLEAR LINE OF SIGHT DUE TO ITS HEIGHT.
CONSUMER HEARD A RATTLING NOISE DURING ACCELERATION AND ACCELERATION POWER SEEMED TO BE REDUCED, DEALER UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM. NLM
POWER LOCK ON PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR IS INOPERABLE, CAUSING DOOR NOT TO OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. CAUSE UNKOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
REAR VIEW MIRROR IS IMPROPERLY LOCATED AND IS NON-ADJUSTABLE CREATING A VERY LARGE FORWARD LOOKING BLIND SPOT FOR PEOPLE 5'10" AND TALLER. A POSSIBLE REMEDY WOULD BE TO MOVE THE MIRROR UP 1" HOWEVER THE MIRROR IS CURRENTLY NOT ADJUSTABLE. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE LARGE BLIND SPOT COULD CONTRIBUTE TO FUTURE ACCIDDENTS AND POSE SAFETY RISK TO OTHER MOTORISTS, PEDESTRIANS, ETC. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCING A CREAKING / GROANING NOISE FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WELL / DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW WHEN DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS / THE FRONT HEADLINER AREA. HOWEVER, ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS DEALER TO BE FIX, PROBLEM STILL EXIST,POSSIBLE DESIGN FLAW. *YC
OWNER HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD-ON AT 50MPH. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER DRIVER'S SIDE NOR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. STEERING WHEEL CRACKED. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SEEN. *AK
VEHICLE GETS STUCK IN REVERSE, AND ALSO GRINDS IN 3RD AND 5TH GEAR. DEALER SAID IT WAS OWNER'S FAULT. *AK
