TRAVELING AROUND TOWN FOR WORK WHEN I NOTICED MY ENGINE TEMP WAS EXTREMELY HIGH. PULLED OFF ROADWAY IN SAFE LOCATION. AFTER REFILLING COOLANT, TOOK VEHICLE TO MECHANIC. UPON TESTING, TWO CRACKS HAVE BEEN FOUND IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. CAR HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED BY HONDA CERTIFIED MECHANICS FOR LIFE OF THE VEHICLE AND NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY OTHER ISSUES. *TR
BOTH REAR BRAKE LIGHTS STOP WORKING AT THE SAME TIME. CHECKED THE FUSE AND BULB, BOTH WHICH ARE GOOD. IT APPEARS THE BRAKE LIGHTS STOP WORKING AFTER I PRESSED ON BRAKES HARD ENOUGH TO ENGAGE ABS IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. THE HIGH BRAKE LIGHT MOUNTED ON THE BACKLITE IS WORKING. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION HAS A RATTLING NOISE. LITTLE APPLE TOYOTA HONDA TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM LITTLE APPLE A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. I ALSO PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR TWO YEARS. THIS REPAIR WILL NOT BE COVERED BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT I HAVE EXCEEDED THE MILEAGE. *TR
MY CAR WAS HAVING UNEVEN WEAR OF THE TIRES AND WENT TO GET THE TIRES REPLACED FROM FIRESTONE, SINCE THEY WERE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE ALIGNMENT ISSUE, SO PAID FOR ALIGNMENT AND NEW SET OF TIRES. NOT EVEN 6 MONTHS AND I STARTED GETTING HUMMING NOISE AGAIN FROM THE REAR SIDE. TURNED OUT THAT MY REAR TIRES WERE AGAIN EXPERIENCING THE UNEVEN WEAR. SINCE ON THE WAY BACK FROM A ROAD TRIP, IT WAS ONLY AFTER 1000 MILES THAT I WENT BACK TO THE MECHANIC. BY THIS TIME, THE NOISE WAS LIKE MACHINE GUN WITH CAR AT 70MPH. FIRESTONE AGAIN REFUSED AND I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC ( MIDAS) AND HE REPLACED THE SHOCKS, SEEMS LIKE THAT SLOWED DOWN THE WEAR OF THE TIRES BUT IT IS STILL LOOSE AND IS SLOWLY GETTING THE SAME PROBLEM. I TRIED TALKING TO HONDA, BUT AT THAT TIME THERE WAS NO TSB ON REAR SUSPENSION AND CONTROL ARMS AND THE COST THEY TOLD WAS LIKE MY ARM AND LEG. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO APPROACH ON THIS PROBLEM NOW. I WENT ONLINE AND SAW THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, SO JOINED THE COMMUNITY AND SIGNED THE PETITION BUT DID NOT HEAR FROM THEM EITHER. *TR
DRIVERS VISOR IS NOT SNAPPING BACK INTO PLACE. GOT IN THE VEHICLE AND WAS JUST HANGING DOWN. WHEN TRYING TO SNAP INTO PLACE, TWO HANDS ARE NEEDED BUT DOESN'T GO BACK APPROPRIATELY. *TR
THE PAINT TO MY 2006 CIVIC COUPE IS STARTING TO PEEL ON THE ROOF BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND THE SUNROOF. IT LOOKS LIKE A CLEAR COAT FAILURE THAT IS AFFECTING MANY, MANY HONDA OWNERS. UPON CALLING HONDA OF AMERICA, THEY ACKNOWLEDGE A PAINT PROBLEM WITH CERTAIN ODYSSEY MODELS BUT NOT THE CIVICS EVEN THOUGH IT IS ALMOST THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. *TR
A COUPLE MONTHS BACK I TOOK MY CAR TO THE HONDA DEALER TO FIX MY A/C. SO WHEN MY A/C WAS NOT THROWING ANY COLD AIR OUT AGAIN THIS WEEK I TOOK IT BACK TO HONDA AND THEY TOLD ME MY CONDENSER HAD A WHOLE IN IT PROBABLY FROM A PEBBLE. THERE IS NOTHING COVERING THAT AREA ON THE CAR SO AFTER I PAY ALMOST $700 IT CAN POSSIBLY HAPPEN AGAIN. THERE IS NO WARRANTY FOR THIS. I FEEL IT IS A DEFECT OF THE WAY THE CAR WAS BUILT. I FEEL HONDA SHOULD FIX THIS PROBLEM. OR ATLEAST REIMBURSE THE CUSTOMERS. *TR
THE SUNVISOR HAS BROKE ONCE ON PASSENGER SIDE-HAD REPLACED. NOW BROKEN AGAIN AND DRIVERS SIDE AS WELL. SAFETY CONCERN AS VISOR NOW HANGS LOSE AND IS IN THE WAY WHILE DRIVING OR CAN NOT BE USED FOR INTENDED PURPOSES OF BLOCKING SUN. *TR
MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC HAS STALLED ON ME 7 TIMES NOW. EVERY TIME IT STALLS, I AM AT A STOPLIGHT OR STOP SIGN AND AT A COMPLETE STOP. THE ENGINE GOES INTO IDLE MODE AND WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGES OR I CAN GO, I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND TRY OR START TO PRESS THE GAS. MOST OF THE TIME I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL BEFORE THE CAR STALLS. THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF. I HAVE NOTICED THE LAST TWO TIMES THAT THE CAR'S AC WAS ON DURING THE STALLS. BEFORE I RESTART THE CAR THERE ISN'T AN ERROR CODE OR ANYTHING DISPLAYED. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT TESTED AND EACH TIME THEY CONNECT IT TO A COMPUTER AND TELL ME THAT THERE ISN'T ANYTHING WRONG OR THEY CAN'T PRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THERE ISN'T A FUEL PROBLEM BECAUSE I PUT SHELL GAS IN MY CAR EACH AND EVERY TIME AND I CHECKED THE AIR FILTER. I EVEN HAD A TECHNICIAN AT PEPBOYS CHECK THE BATTERY. PEPBOYS SAID THE BATTERY WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND OTHERS ON THE INTERNET SAY THAT IT COULD BE THE COMPUTER'S IDLE SPEED MAY NEED TO BE READJUSTED AND SOME SAY THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE IS FAULTY. I MENTIONED THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE TO THE HONDA TECHNICIAN AND THEY SAID THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A PROBLEM. THERE IS A PROBLEM BECAUSE OTHERS HAVE REPORTED IT AND THE CAR STALLS. *TR
POWER WINDOWS ON FRONT PASSENGER-SIDE AND REAR DRIVER-SIDE NO LONGER GO UP AND DOWN. *JS
THE CLEAR COAT IS ALMOST ALL PEELED OFF MY ENTIRE CAR IN A MATTER OF MONTHS. NOW THE PAINT UNDERNEATH IS FADING IN COLOR TOO. I DON'T EVEN HAVE MY CAR HALF WAY PAID OFF. THIS IS HONDA'S FAULT. THEY NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND RECALL THE PAINT. I KNOW PEOPLE WITH HONDA CIVIC'S THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR PAINT TOO. IT LOOKS BAD FOR HONDA. DO THEY REALLY WANT POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS SEEING THEIR VEHICLES DRIVING AROUND LOOKING LIKE CRAP? I WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN THIS CAR, IF I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO LOOK THIS BAD. IT LOOKS AWFUL! I WANTED A GOOD CAR THAT WOULD LAST A LONG TIME. I LOVED THE CAR BUT NOW THE PAINT LOOKS DISGUSTING. MANY REALLY OLD CARS LOOK BETTER THANK THIS. SERIOUSLY HONDA? YOU SAVE A LITTLE MONEY DOING A CRAPPY PAINT JOB.. BUT THAT'S LOSING YOU MANY CUSTOMERS. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER HONDA UNLESS YOU FIX THIS. AND I WILL NOT RECOMMEND A HONDA TO ANYBODY. EXCESSIVE REAR TIRE WEAR AND CUPPING OF TIRES CAUSING EXTREME VIBRATION AT SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MPH. REAR TIRES ONLY LAST APPROX. 30,000 BEFORE INNER HALF OF TIRE IS COMPLETE BALD. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE. IT CAN BE SNAPPED BACK INTO PLACE, BUT WHILE IT'S BROKEN, IT DECREASES VISIBILITY AND IT TAKES TWO HANDS TO SNAP IT BACK UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY NOW. *TR
MY PASSENGER DOOR WAS CLOSED AT A GAS STATION AND MY PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THERE IS NO DAMAGE PHYSICALLY EXCEPT FOR THE AIR BAGS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE POPPED OUT OF THIRD GEAR AND INTO NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE DID NOT STALL WHEN THE SHIFTER POPPED OUT OF GEAR. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC LX. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 63 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 93,872.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, SHE WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS LEAKING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 61,000. I JUST RECENTLY HAD MY CAR FRONT FENDERS AND HOOD PAINTED AT 87,000 MILES BECAUSE OF THE MALFUNCTION HONDA HAD, BUT AT 60,000 MILES I WAS HAND WASHING THE CAR LIKE I ALWAYS DO AND WHEN I SPRAYED IT WITH WATER SOME OF THE RIGHT SIDE QUARTER PANEL PAINT JUST FLAKED OFF.. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM HONDA HAS WITH THE CLEAR COAT. *TR
SUNDAY ON MY WAY BACK HOME I SMELLED COOLANT, I STOP IMMEDIATELY AND CHECKED IT OUT TO FIND A PUDDLE UNDER THE CAR. COOLANT WAS LEAKING. I CALLED FOR TOW TRUCK AND TOW CAR TO AUTO SHOP. THE NEXT DAY I FOUND THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED AND THIS WHY COOLANT LEAKS. ... MANY PEOPLE HAD THE SAME CASTING PROBLEM WITH THESE ENGINE BLOCKS. *JS
CLEAR COAT/PAINT STARTED PEELING ON ROOF AND NOW COVERS MORE THAN 50% OF THE ROOF AND THE TRUNK. THE CARE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN DOWN A 4 LANE ROAD WHEN IT STARTED MAKING A NOISE ON THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY FOUND THAT THE TENSIONER BOLT HAD BENT. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED WITHIN 6 MONTHS. *TR
THIS CIVIC HAS A DEFECT ON REAR CONTROL ARMS CAUSING TIRES TO WEAR UNEVEN AND RAPIDLY AND MAKING A HORRIBLE NOISE COMING FROM THE BACK THIS IS UNSAFE ISSUE I REPLACE THE REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS, THE WHELL HUBS AND OFCOURSE THE TIRES AND THE PROBLEM STILL THERE UNTIL CONTROL ARM BE REPLACED FOR AN ADJUSTABLE ONE FOR PROPER ALIGMENT ,,, HONDA MOTOR COMPANY IS NOT PAYING FOR ANYTHING , I THINK COSTUMERS DON'T HAVE PAY FOR HONDA MISTAKES THAT'S NOT FAIR.
SUN VISOR IN 2006 HONDA CIVIC BROKE. IT SPLIT CAUSING IT TO NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. IT JUST HANGS IN FRONT OF DRIVER'S FACE BLOCKING VISION OF THE ROAD, WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE VISOR WAS NEVER USED MUCH AND NEVER USED FORCEFULLY TO CAUSE IT TO BREAK IN THIS WAY. *TR

CAR HAS HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF THE THIRD GEAR POPPING OUT OR GRINDING WHILE ENGAGING. IT IS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC SI. CONTACTED DEALER ABOUT THE ISSUE AND EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN OUT FROM HONDA SAYING IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE, THEY WANTED $1,500 DOLLARS TO REPAIR IT. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AS IT IS A DANGER WHILE DRIVING TO HAVE YOUR CAR NOT PROPERLY ENGAGE THE GEARS AND A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH TELLS ME THERE ARE THOUSANDS MORE WITH THE SAME ISSUE AS ME. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY AN IMMEDIATE ISSUE WHILE DRIVING BUT WILL LEAD TO FASTER CLUTCH WEAR WHICH COULD PUT THE TIMING OF REPAIRS OFF OF A NORMAL SCHEDULE AND A CLUTCH FAILURE WHILE DRIVING COULD BE FATAL. *TR

CALLED DEALER WHO SAID HONDA ONLY HONORS ONE REPAIR. ANY SUBSEQUENT REPAIRS ARE AT MY EXPENSE. DEALER WILL NOT DO PERMANENT FIX. TIRES WEAR UNEVENLY DUE TO PROBLEM. HAVE BOUGHT SEVERAL TIRES. HAVE HAD PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR AND STRUT REPLACEMENT DUE TO MANUFACTURING ISSUES. ALSO, CATALYTIC CONVERTER NOW GOING OUT PREMATURELY. NOTHING COVERED BY HONDA. MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. I HAVE REPLACED 2 SETS OF TIRES OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS DUE TO "ALIGNMENT" ISSUES, YET NO MECHANICS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SEE ANY ISSUE. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN AUGUST 2010. PER THE HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED FEB 2008 (WHICH I WAS UNAWARE OF TIL THE PROBLEM), I HAVE HAD A MECHANIC CONFIRM MY COMPLAINTS/PROBLEM--UNEVEN/RAPID REAR TIRE WEAR, A VERY LOUD ROARING NOISE FROM THE REAR, AND VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEED--MEANING I HAVE A FAULTY REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM KIT. I HAVE CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID SINCE IT'S NOT A "RECALL" THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THIS. THEIR SERVICE BULLETIN CLEARLY STATES I NEED A NEW REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM KIT, REPLACE THE FLANGE BOLTS TOO, WHICH ALSO MEANS ALIGNMENT WITH PURCHASE OF NEW TIRES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON I-635 IN DALLAS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC JUST BEFORE THE HWY 75 EXIT IN THE FAR LEFT LANE. THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT AND CONSTRUCTION AHEAD SO TRAFFIC WAS MOVING VERY SLOW. MY CAR BEGAN TO VIBRATE SLIGHTLY AND THEN INEXPLICABLY STALLED. I PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT. THE CAR RESTARTED FINE BUT I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE IT OUT OF PARK. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES THE TRAFFIC CLEARED AND WE WERE STUCK AND UNABLE TO MOVE WHILE SITTING IN THE FAST LANE. I WAS PETRIFIED AND CALLED 911. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES I CALLED 911 AGAIN AND EXPLAINED AGAIN THAT WE WERE STOPPED DEAD IN THE FAST LANE OF A FREEWAY AND NEEDED SOMEONE FAST. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES SEVERAL POLICE OFFICERS, INCLUDING OFFICER REYES, FINALLY ARRIVED AND PARKED BEHIND MY VEHICLE TO SIGNAL CARS TO MOVE OVER. THEY ATTEMPTED TO MOVE MY CAR OUT OF PARK AS WELL BUT WERE NOT SUCCESSFUL. THEY CALLED A WRECKER AND MY CAR WAS TOWED TO LUTE RILEY HONDA. ON FEB. 10TH, THE SERVICE MGR AT LUTE RILEY HONDA SAID THE TECHNICIAN FOUND OIL IN THE PCM AND THAT MAY HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE BUT HE WASNT SURE. HE BLAMED THE OIL ON SOMEONE SPILLING OIL DURING AN OIL CHANGE BUT I SAID THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE SINCE I HADNT HAD MY OIL CHANGED IN OVER 30 DAYS. I ASKED IF IT COULD BE RELATED TO THE RECALL ISSUES AND HE SAID NO, ALL THE RECALL ISSUES HAD BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. I DROVE THE CAR BACK TO HOUSTON AND IT WAS FINE UNTIL YESTERDAY WHEN IT REPEATED THE SAME ISSUE-THE CAR ENGINE WOULD START BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK. IT WAS TOWED TO GILLMAN HONDA, HOUSTON, TX AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A BAD BRAKE SWITCH AND PCM. *TR
PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC VERY LOUD SQUEALING NOISE...PULLED OFF ROAD AND NOTICED THE PULLEY HOLDING THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS WOBBLING ...GOT IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE BOLT HOLDING THE PULLEY WAS BROKEN....GOT IT FIX AND NOW 13 MONTHS LATER IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN IF THE PULLEY BREAKS OFF OR THE BELT COMES OFF IN TRAFFIC I COULD BE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE. *TR
THE REAR CAMBER ARMS ON THE CAR ARE SET TO VERY NEGATIVE CAUSING THE CAR TIRES TO WEAR RAPIDLY AND UNEVENLY. HONDA HAS ISSUED A TSB, BUT NO RECALL ON THE PARTS. THEY WILL NOT PAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM THAT IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE CAMBER ARMS. TIRES AT MOST WILL ONLY GET 40,000 MILES ON THEM AND THAT CAUSES UNDO EXPENSE TO THE CAR OWNER. *TR
THE REAR TIRES WEAR BADLY TO THE POINT OF THE TIRES CUPPING AND WEARING UNEVENLY. THIS PROCESS IS HORRIBLE AND DANGEROUS AS IT WILL EVENTUALLY SHAKE THE CAR AND LOCK THE SEAT BELT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. A PERSON ALSO LOSES THE ABILITY TO STEER EFFECTIVELY DUE TO THE BUMPINESS FROM THE TIRES. WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO GET NEW TIRES (DUE TO PROBLEMS STATED ABOVE), THEY SAID THAT THE INSIDE OF MY TIRES WERE ON THE VERGE OF BLOWING OUT, YET I STILL HAD TREAD ON THE OUTER SIDE OF MY TIRE. BASED ON THIS, I WAS MORE AT RISK TO HAVE A BLOW-OUT AT ANY TIME AND WOULD HAVE HAD NO INCLINATION BECAUSE MY TIRES STILL LOOKED NEW ? UNTIL MY VEHICLE WAS UP ON A LIFT. SINCE THEN, I HAVE ONLY HAD MY NEW TIRES FOR 25,000 MILES (ROTATED EVERY 5,000 MILES) AND MY MECHANIC IS NOW REFUSING TO ROTATE THEM BASED ON THE UNEVEN WEAR AND ?DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS? THAT COULD RESULT IF THEY ROTATED THEM (THEIR LIABILITY). THE INSIDE OF THE TIRES ARE ALREADY BALD WHILE THERE IS MORE THAN HALF THE TREAD OF THE OUTER SIDE OF THE TIRE. I EVENT RECALL ON HONDA ODYSSEY SEATS THAT WOULD NOT STAY LATCHED... EXACTLY WHAT WAS HAPPENING WITH OUR CIVIC COUPE. RARELY DID WE MOVE THE PASSENGER SEAT BUT WHEN WE DID IT WOULD FREQUENTLY NOT LOCK IN PLACE AFTER AWHILE WITHOUT A VERY JERRY MOVEMENT WITH WEIGHT IN THE SEAT... MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC LX CLOCK LIGHT AND HEATER KEEPS GOING OUT THEN THE SPEEDOMETER LIGHTS GO OFF AND IT COMPLETELY DIES ON ME. I HAD THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR CHECKED AT 4 DIFFERENT PLACES AND THEY ALL SAID IT POWERS UP GOOD. I WAS TOLD IT WAS MY IGNITION SWITCH. *TR
TWO DAYS AGO I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT. I WAS SLOWING THE CAR DOWN USING THE BRAKES. AS I TURNED INTO THE PARKING SPACE I APPLIED PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES BECAME SOFT AND SUDDENLY THE ENGINES RPMS INCREASED AND BEGAN JUMPING BETWEEN 3000 RPMS TO 4000 RPMS. THE CAR BEGAN TO MOVE FORWARD EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE BRAKES FULLY DEPRESSED AND I WAS IN DANGER OF HITTING OTHER CARS OR PEOPLE. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND THE RPMS JUMPED EVEN HIGHER. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE ENGINE STOPPED. I RE-STARTED IT AND DROVE TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP. THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR TWO DAYS AND CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM (OR SO THEY SAY). THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN 8 WEEKS THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THIS CAR (SEE COMPLAINT NUMBER 10435619). THIS WAS NOT PEDAL ERROR. MY FOOT WAS ONLY ON THE BRAKE. AFTER DOING A GOOGLE SEARCH I SEE HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. HONDA IS NOT ADMITTING THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SOFTWARE IN THEIR CARS BUT THERE IS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE TOO MANY PEOPLE GET KILLED. I COULD HAVE EASILY RUN OVER THE 2-3 PEOPLE WALKING IN FRONT OF ME IF I HADN'T BEEN THROUGH THIS BEFORE AND KNEW TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL RIGHT AWAY. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THERE IS SOME GLITCH IN THEIR SOFTWARE THAT TELLS THE ENGINE TO DOWNSHIFT WHEN BRAKING. INSTEAD OF DOWNSHIFTING THE ENGINE ACCELERATES. SOMETHING IS CLEARLY WRONG WITH THIS CAR. OCCASIONALLY, AFTER STARTING THE CAR, THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM DOES NOT ACTIVATE. THE EPS(ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING) LIGHT ON THE DASH COMES ON, AND THE CAR WILL RUN WITHOUT POWER STEERING. USUALLY BY TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING THE CAR A FEW TIMES FIXES THE PROBLEM. *TR

POWER STEERING FLUID PUMP FAILED WHILE DRIVING. STARTS WITH A NOISE WHILE TURNING. THEN SHORTLY THEREAFTER, EXTREME DIFFICULTY IN TURNING CAR LEFT OR RIGHT. STEERING WHEEL BECOMES VERY HARD TO TURN, AND SPEED OF CAR SLOWS GREATLY WHILE TURNING. TOOK CAR INTO HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR INITIAL NOISE PROBLEM ON A MONDAY--SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM/COULDN'T HEAR ANYTHING. TOOK CAR BACK ON FOLLOWING TUESDAY WHEN TURNING PROBLEM BECAME SEVERE. PROBLEM FINALLY DIAGNOSED AND FIXED AT DEALERSHIP. NEW POWER STEERING PUMP INSTALLED. CAR BOUGHT NEW--ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. ONLY ONE OWNER. MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX COMPLETELY STALLED OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNING, LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. IT HAD BEEN DRIVING PERFECTLY WITHOUT ISSUE BEFORE THE STALL, AND HAS RECEIVED ALL NECESSARY MAINTENANCE IN A TIMELY FASHION UP UNTIL THAT TIME. MY CAR WAS INOPERABLE AND TOWED TO A NEARBY MECHANIC. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE TENSIONER BOLT HAD BROKEN OFF IN MY ENGINE; HOWEVER, PART OF THE BOLT WAS STILL STUCK INSIDE OF MY ENGINE. DUE TO THE BOLT BREAKING, MY ALTERNATOR WAS SUBSEQUENTLY DAMAGED AND CAUSED THE CAR TO STALL. AFTER CONSULTING WITH A SEPARATE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT DUE TO THE LOCATION AND ANGLE OF THE BOLT, THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY DROPPED OUT TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THIS BOLT AND TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THIS PROBLEM IS COVERED UNDER TSB 09-007 (JAN 09 CAMPAIGN - ENGINE DRIVE BELT TENSIONER BOLT REPLACEMENT); HOWEVER, EVEN THOUGH MY VIN FALLS WITHIN THE RANGE OF AFFECTED VEHICLES, IT IS NOT AN EXACT MATCH. *TR

YESTERDAY I EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT GOING DOWNHILL AT ABOUT 40 MPH. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE ENGINE ACCELERATED WITH THE RPMS JUMPING TO 3,000. I APPLIED FULL BRAKES AND THE CAR KEPT MOVING TOWARDS THE INTERSECTION. TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL. RPMS WENT UP TO ABOUT 4,500. THE CAR SLOWLY STOPPED. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE AND THE CAR STALLED. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RE-STARTED IT AND THE RPMS WERE NORMAL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. SURVEYING THE INTERNET I CAN SEE LOTS OF OTHER ACCELERATION ISSUES WITH THE 2006 CIVICS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNAWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR

THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,700.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE DESIGN OF REAR SUSPENSION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED DUE TO THE DEFECT/POOR DESIGN OF THE REAR CONTROL ARMS, THE REAR TIRES WERE WEARING UNEVENLY AND PREMATURELY. LAST WEEK, THE DEALER DISCOVERED THAT THE LEFT REAR TIRE WAS WORN DOWN TO THE CORD ON THE INSIDE PART OF THE TIRE. THE DEALER SUGGESTED A FOUR-WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND TWO NEW REAR TIRES, BUT FAILED TO MENTION THE ISSUE WITH THE CONTROL ARMS. THE CONSUMER LEARNED OF A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT WAS ISSUED TO DEALERS, BY HONDA TO REPLACE THE REAR CONTROL ARMS. THE CONSUMER TOOK A COPY OF THE BULLETIN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IS NOW NEGOTIATING WITH THEM TO REPLACE THE CONTROL ARMS. *JB
