TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO HEARD AN ABNORMAL SOUND IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE AUTO TENSIONER PIVOT BOLT HAD FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. FINDLAY HONDA HENDERSON (933 AUTO SHOW DR, HENDERSON, NV 89014, (702) 381-4926) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.
WE BOUGHT A 2006 HONDA CIVIC IN 2013, ONLY TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP NOT DISCLOSE THE WARRANTY EXTENSION PUT OUT ON THE CAR IN 2010. WE WOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT THAT CAR, AND BOUGHT ANOTHER. TERRIBLY DANGEROUS THE HAVE AN ENGINE BLOCK CRACK. THE BLOCK DID CRACK IN DECEMBER 2019. AMERICAN HONDA WILL DO NOTHING. PASSED THE WARRANTY EXTENSION.. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SAFETY RECALL. THE CAR WITH ONLY 129,000 IS GARBAGE AND WE ARE OUT MONEY. WE WILL NEVER BUY HONDA AGAIN. WE'VE BOUGHT AT LEAST 10 IN OUR 27 YEAR MARRIAGE. THE CRACKING COULD HAVE EXPLODED THE ENGINE!
IM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE THAT ANOTHER RECALL ON A SIMILAR MODEL HAS RECIEVED THE DC-DC CONVERTER HAS A PROBLEM CHARGING THE 12V BATTERY CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE, POWER FAILURE , STEARING FAILURE AND ABS FAILURE. I AM UNABLE TO TURN ON HAZARD LIGHTS BECAUSE OF IT ALSO BATTERY WILL TAKE U JUMP BUT WILL NOT KEEP THE CHARGE IN THE BATTERY. I WAS DRIVING HOME AND ON A FLAT STREET THE CAR WAS LOSING ALL INSTREMENT LIGHTS THE POWER STEARING LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS THE BATTERY LIGHT THE ABS LIGHT AND THE IMS LIGHT. I HAD TO FORCE THE WHEEL TO TURN TO A SAFE LOCATION DUE TO BEING UNABLE TO TURN ON ANY WARNING LIGHTS. I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING IN CITY CONDITIONS. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY MY VIN NUMBER DOES NOT MATCH THE RECALLED ONE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE ODOR OF SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, BUT IT FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND THEN TOWED TO MEL RAPTON HONDA (3630 FULTON AVE, SACRAMENTO, CA 95821, (916) 436-8364). THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10118211 (ENGINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 133,000.
I OWN A HONDA CIVIC THAT FALLS UNDER HONDA'S TSB 10-048. (2006-2009 ENGINE CRACK DUE TO A FAULTY PRODUCTION OF WEAK ENGINE BLOCKS) HONDA WILL NOT HONOR ANY SORT OF REMEDY BEYOND THEIR SECRET 10 WARRANTY FROM DATE OF PRODUCTION TO REPLACING THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE CUSTOMER SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A FAULTY PRODUCT! HONDA NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THEIR FAULTY PRODUCT AND CALL THE ISSUE WHAT IT REALLY IS, A RECALL!!

THE CONTACT PARKED IN A NEARBY PARKING LOT, EXITED THE VEHICLE, AND NOTICED SMOKE AND FLAMES RISING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT CALLED 911 AND THE POLICE ARRIVED AND FILED A REPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED ON ITS OWN WITHIN TWENTY MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SCHAUMBURG HONDA AUTOMOBILES (LOCATED AT 750 E GOLF RD, SCHAUMBURG, IL 60173, (847) 327-0112) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. MICU FUSE BLOCK WITH BODY CONTROL MODULE 2265245 WENT OUT AND I HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED, IT WAS STAYING IN THE "ON" POSITION SO IT DRAINED EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL (BATTERY) WOULDN'T START, WAS STUCK IN "PARK" NOTHING ELECTRICAL WOULD WORK INCLUDING THE "KEY"
CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS CAR AND HONDA WOULD REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY IF IT WAS LEAKING. NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND ENGINE BLOCK STARTS LEAKING. THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. ALL OF THESE AFFECTED ENGINES SHOULD BE REPLACED NOW!!! OR HONDA SHOULD BUY THE CAR BACK. NOW I'M WITHOUT A CAR AND STILL OWE MONEY. I CANNOT AFFORD THE $6,000 TO REPLACE THIS ENGINE. I CAN AFFORD 10%, BUT HONDA WILL NOT EVEN OFFER ANY DISCOUNT TO REPLACE AN INFERIOR PRODUCT THAT THEY KNEW HAD PROBLEMS.
ENGINE LEAKING COOLANT HONDA DEALER SAID BLOCK IT CRACKED. FOUND OUT LATER THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2006 TO 2009. HONDA DEALER NOR HONDA CORP EVER NOTIFIED ME. THEY KNOWINGLY SOLD AND SERVICED MY CAR JUST RUNNING OUT THE CLOCK. I HAVE BEEN RIDING HONDA'S BEFORE I WAS DRIVING THEM GOING BACK THE THE 60'S. I HAVE TWO HONDA CARS IN THE DRIVEWAY NOW. MY COMPLAINT IS MORE THE THE COMPANY AND DEALER THEN WITH THE PRODUCT. I COULD NOT SELL THIS CAR TO ANYBODY NOW NOR SHOULD HAVE YOU. I STILL BELIEVE YOU MAKE A DEPENDABLE AND DURABLE PRODUCT BUT AM NO LONGER A ONE STOP SHOPPER.

PREMATURE WEAR AND CUPPING OF TIRES RESULTING IN UNSTABLE DANGEROUS TIRE PERFORMANCE AND LOUD DISTRACTING NOISE APPARENTLY DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN UPPER CONTROL ARM DESIGN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATED AUTOMATICALLY TWICE. THE CONTACT REACTIVATED THE CRUISE CONTROL EACH TIME. ALSO, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND, SOON AFTER, THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT THEN REGAINED CONTROL AND PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO VISIBLE DAMAGE OTHER THAN A CRACKED WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 278,000.
PIVOT BOLT FOR THE TENSIONER PULLY SNAPPED INSIDE BLOCK THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW BECAUSE OF THE SIZE BEING WRONG FOR THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE PUT ON IT IT'S A $600 MINIMUM FIX EACH TIME
MY 18 YEAR OLD SON WAS OUT OF TOWN WAS ON HIS WAY HOME ON A HIGHWAY. HIS HONDA CIVIC'S A/C BEGAN TO BE LESS AND LESS COOL. THEN HIS TEMPERATURE GAUGE QUICKLY ROSE AS FAR IN THE RED THAT IT COULD GO. HE PULLED OVER AND CALLED US. WE WENT TO PICK HIM UP. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF A LEAK UNDER HIS CAR BUT THE ANTIFREEZE WAS LOW. WE FILLED IT UP AND DROVE IT HOME. THE NEXT DAY WE CHECKED THE ANTIFREEZE LEVEL AND IT WAS VERY LOW AGAIN WITH NO SIGN OF ANYTHING UNDER THE CAR. WE TOOK THE CAR IN AND THE ANTIFREEZE WAS LEAKING INTO THE OIL. WE HAD ONE OF THE CIVICS THAT HAD THE KNOWN ISSUE OF FAULTY MANUFACTURING AND THE ENGINE BLOCKS WERE CRACKING AROUND THE 100,000 MILE MARK. THIS SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN POTENTIALLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS MY SON DROVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY OFTEN FOR SCHOOL. HONDA IS TAKING NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFAULT BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THAT CLAIM. BECAUSE IT DIDN'T HAPPEN SOONER, DOES NOT MAKE THE DEFECT LESS DANGEROUS. MY SON WAS NOT INJURED BECAUSE HE MADE A INTELLIGENT DECISION ABOUT AN ISSUE THAT WASN'T RIGHT. I WORRY FOR THOSE THAT TAKE THE CHANCE. NO ONE WANTS THEIR CHILD STRANDED AFTER DARK BECAUSE OF SOMETHING THAT HONDA KNOWS IS A PROBLEM BUT WASH THEIR HANDS OF IF IT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN THEIR TIME FRAME. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD.
WHILE DRIVING I CAME TO A STOP SIGN. SMELLED ANTIFREEZE AND SAW THAT MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS HIGH. I PULLED OVER AND THE CAR WAS OVERHEATING.I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO SHOP TO FIND OUT THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN MY ENGINE BLOCK. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. NO COOLANT LEAKS OR LOW COOLANT OBSERVED. JUST HAD OIL CHANGE THE WEEK BEFORE AND MECHANIC SAID THAT EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE. I HAVE MAINTAINED THE CAR REGULARLY. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE I FOUND THAT HONDA HAS KNOW ABOUT THIS SINCE 2013. I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE OR WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR TO A HONDA DEALER FOR RECALL ON AIRBAGS AND SUN VISOR AND NO ONE EVER MENTIONED ANYTHING ABOUT A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. HONDA SAID THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR REPAIR BECAUSE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. I WASN'T EVEN AWARE OF THIS WARRANTY AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WITH COOLANT LEAK OR OVERHEATING TO EVEN CAUSE CONCERN. THEY ARE PUTTING A REBUILD ENGINE IN AT MY EXPENSE OVER $3000. I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE. I NEED A CAR TO GET TO WORK.
THE ENGINE BLOCKED CRACKED. IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT. TSB 10-048. I AM OUTSIDE OF THE HONDA WARRANTY AND THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE CAR IS NOW VIRTUALLY WORTHLESS. I NOTICED A COOLANT SMELL. I STOPPED THE CAR AND SAW COOLANT LEAKING OUT. I TOOK TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY VERIFIED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED. CALLED HONDA OF AMERICA AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE HONDA DEALER TO VERIFY THE CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. THE HONDA DEALER VERIFIED THE CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. HONDA OF AMERICA REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. BASICALLY I AM OUT OF LUCK.
CAR OVERHEATED AND CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK ON DRIVE TO WORK THROUGH TOWN. IT WAS A SUDDEN, OVERHEAT AND THE CAR STALLED. THE CAR HAD BEEN SERVICED BY HONDA ~2 MONTHS EARLIER. CAR HAD BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED BY HONDA, FOLLOWING SUGGESTED SERVICE SCHEDULE. HONDA KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BLOCK AS I PURCHASED CAR NEW IN 2006. CAR ONLY HAD 103,000 MILES ON IT.
TWICE WHILE DRIVING THE BOLTS TO THE TORQUE MOUNT AND ENGINE BROKE. AND THE CARS ENGINE FELL ON THAT SIDE. MAKING VERY LOUD SOUND AND THE CAR STOPED NOT BEING ABLE TO DRIVE. BOTH TIMES IT HAPPENED ON RESIDENTIAL STREET. HAD IT HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY. THERE WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY CAUSED A VERY DANGEROUS LIFE THREATENING COLLISION. WENT TO PICK A PART LOOKING FOR THE BOLTS. DOING SO FOUND OTHER CARS THERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
CRACKED ENGINE AND IS NOT LEAKING COOLANT. NO DAMAGE WAS CAUSED. HONDA HAS POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP OF PARTS AND FAILED UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDIPTION. NOW NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A NEW ENGINE.
I PURCHASED MY CAR FROM A HONDA DEALERSHIP BACK IN 2014 AND AM THE SECOND OWNER. I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT THE CHANCE OF THE BLOCK CRACKING OR THAT HONDA WILL ONLY WARRANTY IT TILL 10 YEARS PAST ORIGINAL PURCHASE BECAUSE IF I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE NEVER GOT THE CAR KNOWING THAT INFO. THE CAR HAS ONLY 160,000 MILES AND I GET REGULAR OIL CHANGES DONE AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP.
ALL 4 OF MY MICHELIN TIRES ARE SPLITTING IN THE SIDEWALLS (SHOULDER). THEY HAVE NOT GONE FLAT, BUT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE AT HIGH SPEEDS. I COMPLAINED TO MICHELIN AND THEY AGREED THAT IT WAS A DEFECT, BUT REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SUCH AS CONTACT YOU OR ANNOUNCE A RECALL. THEY ARE "DEFENDER" TIRES DOT APWC 113X 2312. SIZE 205 55 16.
CAR HAS EXCESSIVE VIBRATING WHEN AT IDLE, AND WHEN PUTTING CAR IN REVERSE, STEERING ALSO VIBRATES MORE THAN NECESSARY.
I WAS TOLD MY CAR NEEDS AN INFLATOR BUT THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL. WHY DOES THIS CAR HAVE AN AIRBAG ISSUE THAT IS NOT COVERED? 802 HONDA, IN MONTPELIER VT HAS REPLACED THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT BUCKLE TWICE AND EACH TIME THE AIRBAG LIGHT GOES OUT BUT NOW THEY SAY IT NEEDS A RIGHT SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR IN THE SEAT WHICH IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL AND THEY GAVE ME A REPAIR ESTIMATE (RANGE) OF $1,000 TO $1,500. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD THEREFORE BE COVERED BY RECALL. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VISORS WHICH FALL INTO THE LINE OF SIGHT WHEN DRIVING AS A RESULT OF SPLITTING APART WHICH SHOULD ALSO BE COVERED BUT THERE WAS AN EXPIRATION ON THAT RECALL. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THE SAME REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE CAR IS SIX YEARS OLD OR 16 AND REGARDLESS OF THE MILEAGE SO THIS TOO SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. HONDA KNOWINGLY ALLOWED CUSTOMERS WARRANTY TO EXPIRE DESPITE KNOWING THIS IS A LIFETIME ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A CITY STREET AS IT BEGAN TO OVER HEAT THEN PULLED OVER AND REALIZED THE CAR WAS LEAKING.
ENGINE BLOCK CRACK. HONDA MADE A DEFECTIVE ENGINE BLOCK AND LEAKS COOLANT. THEY KNEW ABOUT PROBLEM AND ONLY OFFERED A 10 YEAR WARRANTY, LEAVING THE REST OF CUSTOMERS OUT.
ENGINE BLOCK CRACK! I AM THE OWNER OF A 2006 HONDA CIVIC LX COUPE AND MY ENGINE BLOCK HAS JUST BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A LOCAL HONDA DEALER SINCE WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A RADIATOR LEAK TURNED INTO MY WORST NIGHTMARE. THEY TOLD ME THAT MY ENGINE BLOCK HAD A CRACK IN IT THUS NOT BEING ABLE TO RETAIN RADIATOR FLUID. HE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ROUGHLY $4500US FOR THE REPAIR OF MY ENGINE. MY LOCAL DEALER ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEIR WAS AN UNPUBLISHED RECALL ON THESE ENGINES BUT THAT I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY.. I HAD NO IDEA THEIR WAS AN UNPUBLISHED RECALL ON 2006 TO 2011 HONDA VEHICLES. WELL APPARENTLY MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY BY 3 YEARS. MY DISPUTE IS THAT HONDA FAILED TO LET IT'S CUSTOMERS KNOW THAT THEY INDEED FOUND ISSUES WITH THESE (06-11) ENGINES. I WOULD LIKE TO START A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST HONDA TO HAVE THESE ENGINE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. I ONLY HAVE 106000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. I ONLY DROVE ROUGHLY 7 TO 8 THOUSAND MILE PER YEAR. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THESE ENGINES FAIL AT ABOUT 90000 TO 110000 MILES. WHERE WAS MY RECALL LETTER. EVEN AFTER TAKING MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE OR REPAIR AT MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER THEY FAILED TO ADVISE ME OF THIS ISSUE (RECALL). PLEASE HELP ANYONE.
MY AXLE BROKE IN HALF BASICALLY, AND MY MECHANIC SAID HE'S ONLY SEEN THAT ONE OTHER TIME AND IT WAS ALSO IN A HONDA CIVIC. ALSO, TWO OTHER PEOPLE WHO WORK ON CARS SAID THEY'VE NEVER SEEN THIS, THAT IT USUALLY FAILS AT THE CV JOINT AND SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE THERE WAS A DEFECT. I WAS GOING FROM FIRST GEAR TO SECOND (MANUAL TRANSMISSION), AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WOULDN'T GO, AND THERE WAS A CLUNKING NOISE. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE MECHANIC'S WHICH COST ME $167, AND THE REPAIR IS GOING TO BE APPROXIMATELY $200. I DO NOT HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF EITHER RIGHT NOW AS IT IS IN THE SHOP AS I WRITE THIS WAITING FOR THE PART. I JUST FELT THAT SINCE THIS SEEMS TO BE OUT OF THE ORDINARY IN TERMS OF HOW THIS FAILURE USUALLY OCCURS, I THOUGHT I SHOULD REPORT IT.
MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC HAS A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. I WAS DRIVING IT HOME AND NOTICED THE HEAT RISING. GOT IT TOWED HOME AND THEN TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO THEN INFORMED ME ABOUT THE ISSUE I NOW HAVE. TOLD THAT A CAN GET A NEW MOTOR. I CALLED HONDA TO BE TOLD THAT THEY EXTENDED THE FACTORY RECALL FOR 10YRS. AND WITH IT BEING 2019 ITS BEEN OUT OF DATE FOR 3 YRS NOW. SO ITS GOING TO COST ME MONEY TO FIX SOMETHING THAT THEY KNEW WAS CAUSING ISSUES FOR FOLKS.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE SPUTTERED THEN LOST ALL POWER. IT WAS TOWED TO THE SHOP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED AND THE COST OF REPAIRS WILL EXCEED THE VEHICLE'S WORTH.
MARCH 21, 2019 FOUND COOLANT LEAK ON DRIVEWAY COMING FROM 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE VEHICLE HAS CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK & LEAKING COOLANT. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 54,000 MILES, WELL KEPT AND MAINTAINED. DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED IN 2013 & AGAIN IN 2015 FOR THIS PROBLEM. WARRANTY IS FOR 10 YEARS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE. NO SUCH WARRANTY OR NOTICE MADE IT TO OWNERS ADDRESS. NO NEWS ARTICLES WERE MADE PUBLIC ABOUT THIS ISSUE. BROUGHT CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND CONTACTED HONDA AMERICA TO REQUEST ASSISTANCE DUE TO OUT OF WARRANTY OF THE VEHICLE. HONDA AMERICA ONLY OFFERED A DEDUCTIBLE TO REPAIR ENGINE AT $2,700.00. OWNER IS STILL APPEALING THIS AS THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT HONDA SHOULD OWN UP TO AT A 100%.

THE ENGINE BLOCK CRACK IS A KNOW ISSUE THAT HONDA HAS RECOGNIZED, BUT THEY ONLY ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON. VEHICLES STILL EXPERIENCE THINS FAILURE MINE INCLUDED, BUT HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A REPAIR THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS AT FAULT FOR. I AM SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT IN THE HOPES THAT IT WILL BRING THIS TO ATTENTION SO A RECALL/OR AN ADDITIONAL EXTENSION CAN BE PUT INTO TO PLACE TO COVER THOSE STILL BEING AFFECTED BY THIS FAULT.

There was a recall on the 2006 Honda Civic EX Sun Visors which Honda replaced only to have it break again. I think Honda should be responsible to replace and to ensure it stays intact. THE ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED (ACCORDING TO DEALER) EXACTLY LIKE AS DESCRIBED IN SERVICE BULLETIN 10-048 WHICH THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR, BUT WHICH A BUNCH OF US OWNERS ARE OUTSIDE OF NOW. SO MY CAR IS GARBAGE UNLESS I SPEND 2-7K FIXING A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. I STARTED OVERHEATING AS I WAS DRIVING HOME AS AND LIMPED HOME TRYING TO NOT LET THE ENGINE GET TOO HOT (DIDN'T WORK).

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND MENTIONED A TEN YEAR ENGINE BLOCK LEAK WARRANTY. THE DEALER OFFERED THE CONTACT $2,000 TOWARDS THE REPAIR COST. YES, HONDA ISSUED A 10 YEAR 'EXTENSION' OF A WARRANTY AND CLAIMS TO HAVE NOTIFIED OWNERS VIA MAIL WHEN IT WAS OFFICIALLY 'ANNOUNCED' BACK IN 2014. I UNDERSTAND 'NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR' FROM AN OLDER CAR AND I WOULD EXPECT TO OWN THE COSTS FOR REPAIR... BUT AN ENGINE BLOCK CRACKING DUE TO A KNOWN MANUFACTURER DEFECT RENDERING A CAR UNUSABLE, AND HONDA EXPECTS YOU TO PAY 2600-5K TO MAKE THEIR CARS DERIVABLE AGAIN? THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL AS IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT RESULTS IN ENGINE FAILURE AND OVERHEATING WHILE DRIVING (POTENTIAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE, TRAFFIC HAZARD, FIRE,ETC).

WHY IS IT FAIR THAT OTHERS GOT A FREE ENGINE REPLACED BUT OURS LASTED A LITTLE LONGER, MAYBE DUE TO BETTER CARE OF THE VEHICLE, AND WE GET NOTHING FOR THE SAME DEFECT? MAKE THIS RIGHT, HONDA!

I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND MY ENGINE STARTED TO GET REALLY HOT I LOST MY POWER STEERING AND MY BRAKES ALL AT ONCE BECAUSE THE ENGINE OVERHEATED, I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND FILLED THE COOLANT HOWEVER THAT DID NOT WORK AND SO I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE I WAS N THE HIGHWAY AND HAD MERE SECONDS OF LOSING POWER STEERING TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND GET OUT OF THE CAR AS SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE ISSUE IS THAT THE CAR WAS BOUGHT IN 2006 AND BECAUSE OF JUST AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS ONLY 10 YEARS I NOW HAVE TO PUT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS INTO GETTING A NEW ENGINE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COGGIN HONDA OF ORLANDO DEALER (11051 S ORANGE BLOSSOM TRAIL, ORLANDO, FL 32837, (407) 792-1211), WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK HAD A SMALL CRACK CAUSING ANTIFREEZE LEAKS AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE WAS EXPIRED AND DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
GOT OFF THE ROAD FROM NY TO MD LAST NIGHT AND NOTICED A BIT OF A COOLANT SMELL. NOT A BIG DEAL, BUT WAS GOING TO TAKE IT INTO JIFFY LUBE FOR AN OIL CHANGE ANYWAYS, WOULD HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT. TURNS OUT THAT IT WAS A LEAK FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK. ALSO TURNS OUT THAT HONDA HAD NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH THIS ERA OF CARS AND DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL, ONLY A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10-048, WHEREAS OWNERS WERE COVERED WITHIN 10 YEARS OF PURCHASE, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE. SINCE THE PROBLEM DID NOT MANIFEST ITSELF WITHIN THOSE 10 YEARS, I WOULD HAVE HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING TO BRING IT IN (DESPITE BEING SERVICED AT HONDA DEALERSHIPS IN THE INTERIM). THE CAR ONLY HAS 63K MILES ON IT AND IT'S PATENTLY ABSURD TO THINK THAT A DEFECT THAT THEY NOTICED HAS AN EXPIRATION DATE ON IT, PUNISHING LOW VOLUME DRIVERS--AS IN, HAD WE DRIVEN MORE FREQUENTLY, THE DEFECT WOULD'VE REVEALED ITSELF EARLIER, PERHAPS WITHIN THE WINDOW, AND PERHAPS SAVING US THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS AND URGE HONDA TO CHANGE ITS POLICY REGARDING THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM WITH THIS ERA OF CIVICS.
