TAKATA RECALL: WE HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM HONDA REGARDING REPAIR OF OUR SON'S HONDA TAKATA AIRBAGS. OUR CASE # IS 08936577.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE ENGINE BLOCK FRACTURED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ANTI-FREEZE LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE, WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO RELEASE SMOKE FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. BOB ROHRMAN HONDA (821 SAGAMORE PARKWAY SOUTH, LAFAYETTE, INDIANA 47905, (765) 250-5222) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 08932022. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
THESE CARS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO GET A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. HONDA HAS HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO MAKE AND MODEL HAVING A LOT OF THESE CARS ENGINE BLOCKS CRACKING WHILE DRIVING, WHICH THIS CAN CAUSE A MAJOR CAR ACCIDENT. BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THESE ENGINE BLOCKS ARE GOING TO CRACK IT CAN BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD AND CAUSE CAR ACCIDENTS INJURE THEM OR OTHERS. HONDA SHOULD BE REPLACING ALL THE 2006 HONDA CIVIC ENGINES NOT JUST DOING EXTENDED WARRANTY. BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF THESE HONDAS WHO ARE HAVING THEIR ENGINE BLOCKS CRACKED RIGHT AFTER THE EXTENDED 10 YEAR WARRANTY IS UP. IT IS NOT RIGHT 2 NOT DO ANYTHING FOR OTHERS WHO GET A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK AND LOSE THEIR CAR WHEN HONDA SPECIFICALLY KNOWS IS MAKE AND MODEL HAS MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE BLOCKS CRACKING. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THESE ENGINES NO MATTER HOW MANY MILES WE HAVE ON THESE CARS DUE TO THE ENGINE BLOCKS CRACKING AND COULD BE POSSIBLY CAUSING A CAR ACCIDENT ON A FREEWAY HIGHWAY OR A MAIN STREET SOMEWHERE WHICH CAN KILL THEIR SELF OR OTHER PARTIES ON THE ROADS. IF HONDA KNOWS IS SPECIFICALLY IS A DEFECT IN 2006 HONDA CIVIC ENGINES THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE IT'S THERE FAULT NOT THE OWNER'S FAULT. THIS IS HONDAS RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX THEIR DEFECTS THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF, WHEN THEY KNOW THIS IS A DEFECT. YES THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD , DUE TO THE ENGINE BLOCKS CRACKING AT ANY POSSIBLE TIME WHILE DRIVING OUR CARS. NO MY CAR HAS NOT HAD A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK YET, BUT I DO WORRY WHEN AND IF MINE DOES I CAN'T GO MAKE HONDA FIX THERE DEFECT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE ACCELERATED THROUGH A RED LIGHT AND "T-BONED" THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WERE MINOR INJURIES, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DEALER (MARTIN HONDA (298 EAST CLEVELAND AVE, NEWARK, DELAWARE 19711, (302) 738-5200) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017 PER AN UNKNOWN TAKATA RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 132,000.
TAKATA RECALL: I HAVE HAD AN AIRBAG LIGHT ON SEVERAL TIMES. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP IT IS AN INFLATOR CODE AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR A $1,200 REPAIR. ON TWO OCCASIONS THE SEATBELT WAS REPLACED. SOMEDAYS MY LIGHT IS ON, OTHERS IT IS NOT. THERE IS A RECALL AND THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN BUT MY CAR IS "NOT IMPACTED" THAT IS UNTRUE. IT ABSOLUTELY IS. THE VEHICLE IS PRESENTING THE SAME CODES AS THOSE IN THESE BULLETINS AND RECALLS AND IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED AT HONDA'S EXPENSE, NOT MINE. FURTHERMORE, THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR IS BROKEN BUT IT WAS NOT REPAIRED BEFORE THE END DATE OF THE RECALL (I DID NOT OWN IT THEN) AND NOW THAT I OWN IT I AM TOLD IT IS NOT ELIGIBLE. I CONTEST, THE ISSUE IS AS MUCH OF A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD IN 2018 AS IT WAS WHEN IT WAS ISSUED. THIS TOO SHOULDE BE REPLACED AT HONDA'S EXPENXE NOT MY OWN. THE AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF AT WILL WHEN MOVING, ON CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY, TURNING OR GOING STRAIGHT. THE SUN VISOR DOES NOT GO OUT OF MY LINE OF SIGHT AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE. THIS TOO HAPPENS ANYTIME, ANY WHERE, AT ANY SPEED, AND ON ANY ROAD.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND METAL FRAGMENTS WERE EJECTED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V346000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT SUFFERED BRAIN DAMAGE DUE TO THE METAL BEING EMBEDDED IN THE FRONT TEETH AND SKIN. THE CONTACT ALSO SUSTAINED A BROKEN ORBITAL, RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY, NEUROLOGICAL DAMAGE, TWO BROKEN RIBS, AND A COLLAPSED LUNG. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. 2006 HONDA CIVIC LX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO HONDA AIRBAG INFLATOR SAFETY RECALL NOTICE. *AS THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO HONOR THE AIR BAG RECALL REPAIR ALSO, THE AIR CONDITIONER WOULD BLOW HOT AIR. *JS
COMPLAINT: SRS LIGHT ILLUMINATED - CAUSE 32-1-X (X=0-9/A-F) OPEN OR INCREASED RESISTANCE IN THE RIGHT SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR. REPAIR IS NOT COVERED BY HONDA BECAUSE "RIGHT SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR (IN THE SEAT, NOT THE DASH) NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY EXTENSION" - REPAIR ESTIMATE QUOTED AT "AROUND $1,200" AT THIS POINT, THE ONLY ISSUE IS THE LIGHT IS ON. THIS IS TRUE ANYTIME THE IGNITION IS IN THE ON POSITION REGARDLESS OF VEHICLE DISPOSITION. I OPENED A CASE WITH HONDA USA (CASE NUMBER 09737616, AND THEY DENIED COVERAGE.
THE ENGINE BLOCK ON MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC CRACKED, AND THE CAR BROKE DOWN TODAY. I WAS DRIVING HOME WITH MY DAUGHTER FROM RUNNING ERRANDS AND IT JUST DIED. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A SHOP. JUST GOT THE CALL SAYING THE BLOCK IS CRACKED, THAT IT MEANS A NEW ENGINE, THAT THERE WAS A 10 YEAR WARRANTY, BUT THAT I'M OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY. HONDA KNOWS CERTAIN YEARS OF CIVICS HAVE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, BUT THOSE OF US WHOSE CIVICS MADE IT LONGER BEFORE THE DEFECT KILLED THE ENGINE NOW BASICALLY HAVE SCRAP METAL. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IMMACULATELY MAINTAINED AND I HAVE ALL THE SERVICE RECORDS.
THE ENGINE BLOCK HAS A HAIRLINE CRACK AND THEY WONT COVER IT AS IT IS OVER THEIR "10 YEAR MARK " I AM A SECOND OWNER AND I BOUGHT THE CAR IN PERFECT CONDITION. FAST FORWARD A FEW YEARS LATER, AND I DO ALL OF MY MAINTENANCE, AND I WAKE UP AND THERES COOLANT ALL OVER MY GARAGE FLOOR. AND WHEN I CHANGED THE OIL IT SEEMED SLIMEY. I TOOK IT IN TO HONDA TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AND THEY SAIDSINCE I AM OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD THEY ARE WILLING TO COVER 60% OF THE COSTS WHICH I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET $3200 ARE YOU KIDDING ME? FOR A DEFECT THAT WAS THERE FROM THE BEGINNING. I COULD REPLACE THE WHOLE ENGINE MYSELF FOR $1000. BUT ITS NOT MY PROBLEM. REGARDLESS OF THE MILES (170K) IVE HAD FORDS AND OLDER HONDAS THAT REACH WELL OVER 300K MILES AS LONG AS YOU TAKE CARE OF THEM. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY.
CAR HEATING UP DUE AN ENGINE BLOCK CRACK COOLANT LEAK.
CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND BURNED WHILE DRIVING. CONSUMER TOLD ENGINE WARRANTY NO LONGER VALID BECAUSE IT PAST.
MY ' 06 HONDA CIVIC HAS APPROXIMATELY 158,000 MILES. IT HAS RECEIVED MANUFACTURER SPECIFIED MAINTENANCE. WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN MAY '18, I NOTICED IT WAS OVERHEATING. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL MAINTENANCE GARAGE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THEY INFORMED ME THE THAT OVERHEATING WAS DUE TO A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE WITH THE YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THEY PRINTED THE MANUFACTURES PROCESS FOR IDENTIFYING AND CAUSE AND THE PROCESS FOR REPLACING THE ENGINE. SUBSEQUENTLY, I INFORMED THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP OF THE ISSUE, THEY SAID THE MY VEHICLE FALLS OUTSIDE OF THE 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY THE PROVIDES COVERAGE/ ENGINE REPLACEMENT TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP CONDUCT THE OFFICIAL INSPECTION. THE INSPECTION COST IS 75.00 ALONE AND DOESN'T EVEN GUARANTEE THAT THE HONDA CORPORATION WILL EVEN LOOK AT THE EVIDENCE. THIS ISSUE IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO SAY THE LEAST.
THE KEY CAN FALL OUT/BE REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE IT IS RUNNING OR TRAVELING. THIS IS EXTREMELY ALARMING. THIS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE. THERE WAS NEVER ANY COMMUNICATION WITH ME AFTER THE FIRST COMPLAINT ON 5/29/2018. I NEED HELP WITH THIS, AND WILL KEEP ESCALATING SINCE THIS MATTER DOESN'T SEEM TO BE IMPORTANT ENOUGH FOR AN INVESTIGATION.
ENGINE CONTINUES TO OVERHEAT, SMOKING WAS COMING OUT OF THE CAR. WE ADDED ANTIFREEZE HOWEVER IT KEPT OVERHEATING. WE WENT TO THE MECHANIC AND THEY SAID THE PIPES WERE SHOT, AND THAT HAD TO BE CHANGED AS WELL. RADIATOR GOT LOCKED
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN 'DRIVE', THE KEY IS ABLE TO BE PULLED OUT OF THE IGNITION. CAN BE BOTH STATIONARY AND IN MOTION
COOLANT IS LEAKING FROM A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. CAR IS 161K MILES AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. WHEN ON A TRIP FOR 3 MONTHS AND CAME BACK TO AN EMPTY RADIATOR. AFTER SERVICING THE RADIATOR STARTED NOTICING THE LEAKAGE.
BEGAN OVERHEATING. HAD CHECKED OFTEN & NO PROBLEM FOUND. FINALLY MECHANIC SAID SMALL CRACK IN BLOCK AND ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOT REPAIRED AS OF THIS COMPLAINT. I AM ORIGINAL OWNER AND HAVE TAKEN CARE OF MY VEHICLE WELL
I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC THAT HAS 55,000 ON IT AND IT DEVELOPED THE KNOW ISSUE OF THE CRACK IN THE ENGINE AND IS NOW LEAKING ANTIFREEZE FROM THE CRACK. HONDA DID A WARRANTY CAMPAIGN ON THIS KNOWN PROBLEM BUT ONLY FOR 10 YEARS. I CALLED HONDA CORP AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD I WAS BEYOND THE 10 YEAR MARK AND ON MY OWN FOR THE REPAIR. I FEEL THAT IF HONDA KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM THEN THEY SHOULD COVER THE COST AND MAKE IT A RECALL NOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY CAMPAIGN. THIS CAR IS NOT DRIVEN AL LOT THAT WHY THE MILES ARE SO LOW. THIS HAPPENED AS MY SON WAS DRIVING TO SCHOOL ON A TOWN ROAD.
MY DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BACK RIGHT SIDE CAME LOOSE AND MADE MY SEAT ROCKING BACK AND FORTH. ALSO MY BAR UNDERNEATH THE SEAT BROKE SO I COULDN'T ADJUST MY SEAT. DOES BEEN A COMMON COMPLAINT AN ISSUE OF A DEFECT FROM HONDA ARE 2006 HONDA CIVICS. VERY DANGEROUS FOR A DRIVERS SEAT TO BE LOOSE WHILE DRIVING YOUR CAR. WHEN THE DRIVER SEAT IS LOOSE IT CAN CAUSE A DRIVER TO CRASH AN INJURED OTHERS BY BEING DISTRACTED WHILE DRIVING. IF YOU CANNOT ADJUST THE SEAT TO THE PROPER POSITION IT CAN CAUSE THE DRIVER TO NOT BE ABLE TO REACH THE PEDALS PROPERLY SO THEY CAN DRIVE SAFELY AND HIT THE BRAKE SAFELY TO STOP THEIR VEHICLE SO THEY DON'T CAUSE A CAR ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING. I WAS PARKS AT THE TIME OUT DOING STUFF AND WHEN I CAME BACK TO MY CAR TO GET READY TO LEAVE IS WHEN I NOTICED MY BAR UNDERNEATH THE CAR BROKE AND I COULDN'T ADJUST THE SEAT WHEN I WAS TRYING TO ADJUST IT TO DRIVE HOME. MY CAR SEE STARTED BECOMING LOOSE ONE DAY WHEN I WENT TO GET IN MY CAR TO LEAVE AND DRIVE I NOTICED THE SEAT WAS WOBBLY THAT MORNING, I HAD NO CLUE WHY CUZ I NEVER HAD A SEAT BECOME LOOSE AND WOBBLY LIKE THAT BEFORE OUT OF ALL THE CARS I FOUND.
ENGINE BLOCK IS CRACKED ..LEAKING COOLANT
HONDA CIVIC CRACKED ENGINE WE PURCHASED THE HONDA CIVIC FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND WERE NEVER APPRISED OF ANY WARRANTY EXTENSION IN 2010. IF WE HAD, WE WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. HONDA NOTIFIED US OF TWO OTHER RECALLS (AIRBAG, VISOR) BUT NEVER NOTIFIED US OF PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE. THE HONDA HAS BEEN SEEN AT THREE DIFFERENT HONDA DEALERSHIPS AND ALL REPAIRS/MAINTENANCE DONE AT THEM, BUT NEVER DID ANY OF THE THREE TELL US ABOUT THE ENGINE. THE DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED IT FROM WON'T PAY, EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE AWARE THAT THEY WERE SELLING US A DEFECTIVE CAR. SINCE THIS IS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT, IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURE AND NOT THE OWNER. THE WARRANTY EXTENSION WAS FOR 10 YEARS. THIS CAR HAS 141,000 MILES OF WHICH WE ONLY PUT 37,000 ON IN THE LAST 7 YEARS THAT WE OWNED IT THIS CAR IS STILL IN GREAT CONDITION, BUT NOT WORTH MORE THAN $3,000 ON KELLY BLUE BOOK THE QUOTE FOR A NEW ENGINE WAS $5,766. THIS CONTINUES TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND HONDA NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR FACULTY AND UNSAFE VEHICLES. THE ENGINE CRACKED DUE TO DEFECTIVE MATERIALS AND NOT DUE TO THE OWNER.
ON 3/3/18, AT 92000 MILES, THE ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED, CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR MANY 2006 TO 2009 HONDA CIVICS, AS HONDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THIS TO 10 YEARS (UNLIMITED MILES) FROM THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE DATE. UNFORTUNATELY, IT SEEMS THAT THIS ISSUE TYPICALLY DOESN'T OCCUR UNTIL AFTER 90,000+ MILES, AND I DON'T DRIVE THE CAR THAT MANY MILES EACH YEAR TO REACH THE "DANGER ZONE" FOR THIS ISSUE WITHIN THE 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD.
CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK OUTSIDE OF 10 YEAR RECALL BECOMES FULL RESPONSIBILITY OF OWNER. IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, IT SHOULD BE FULLY COVERED, REGARDLESS IF THE CAR IS OUTSIDE THE 10 YEAR PERIOD. HONDA IS USING THE COVERAGE PERIOD AS A COPOUT, ESPECIALLY AS I WAS NOT PREVIOUSLY NOTIFIED A RECALL.
VISOR UNCLIPPED NEAR THE HINGE AND DOESN'T STAY UP. THE VISOR SLOWLY DROPS DOWN OBSCURES MY VISION. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY, I WAS PARKED AND GETTING READY TO PULL AWAY FROM THE CURB.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK, WHICH REQUIRED THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V034000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) CONCERNING THE HYBRID MODELS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
MY CAR HIT 164,000 MILES AND I WAS ON MY WAY BACK HOME FROM WORK AND TOOK THE STREETS INSTEAD OF THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I SEE THE TEMPERATURE ELECTRONIC GAUGE ALMOST REACH THE MAX WHICH HAS NEVER HAPPENED SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR AND IT WAS MAINTAINED PROPERLY. I THEN PULLED OVER THE SIDE AND SMELLED ANTI FREEZE AND THOUGHT IMEDIATELY THAT IT WAS MY WATER PUMP SINCE I THOUGHT THAT IT COULDN'T BE THE MOTOR SINCE IT WAS NEVER ABUSED OR MAINTAINED INCORRECTLY BUT THEN I POPPED THE HOOD OPEN AND SAW A HAIRLINE CRACK ON THE ENGINE BLOCK AND KNEW THAT I WOULD HAVE TO AT LEAST STOP A FEW TIMES AND WAIT FOR THE ENGINE TO COOL DOWN AND DRIVE AGAIN TO MAKE IT HOME AND THAT MY CAR WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE BLOCK OR NEW ENGINE. I THEN RESEARCHED ONLINE TO SEE IF THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM OR IF IT WAS JUST MY CAR THAT HAD THIS PROBLEM AND SAW THAT IT WASN'T JUST MY CAR WITH THIS PROBLEM ON THEIR HONDA CIVIC AND I'M OUT OF LUCK SINCE MY CAR IS AN 06 AND THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY WON'T COVER IT ANYMORE AND NOW I WILL HAVE TO BE PAYING THIS DEFECTIVE ENGINE BLOCK REPAIR OUT OF MY OWN POCKET WHICH WON'T BE A CHEAP REPAIR THAT HONDA SHOULD HAVE AN UNLIMITED TIMEFRAME FOR THIS REPAIR SINCE THEY KNOW THAT IT IS A DEFECTIVE PART. I GOT LUCKY I WASN'T DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN DRIVING OTHERWISE IT MIGHT OF CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. THIS WILL BE MY LAST HONDA I WILL BE BUYING EVER AGAIN DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED AT 95K MILES. KNOWN PROBLEM. HONDA WON'T COVER.
THE CAR WAS IN TRANSIT BETWEEN HOME AND LOCAL SHOPPING CENTER DURING XMAS WEEK OF 2017. AFTER 4MILES, THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE INDICATOR WENT OFF THE CHARTS FOR THE FIRST TIME. CAR WAS STOPPED, ALLOWED TO COOL DOWN - AND NOTE OF STEAM FROM UNDER BONNET, AND TOWED BACK HOME. TOOK IT THE HONDA DEALER WITHOUT DRIVING FURTHER (3MILES TO CAR CENTER). IN THIS TIME, TEMPERATURE INCREASE TO 3/4 OF GAUGE, AND WHEN WE LEFT, THERE WAS CLEAR BURRING ODOR. VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED, CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK NOTED - AND TOLD $4.6K TO FIX... AND THEN DETERMINED IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HONDA CIVIC.... BUT HONDA DID NOT DEAL WITH IT! ACCORDING TO HTTPS://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/HONDA/CIVIC/2006/ 22% OF ALL FAILURES ARE ENGINE, AND 78% OF THE ENGINE ISSUES ARE CRACKING IN THE POWER BLOCK. IT IS THE SINGLE MOST COMPLAINT ISSUE WITH 178 NHTSA COMPLAINTS FILED ON THE HONDA CIVIC 2006. INTERESTING TO NOTE, IT WAS NOT A SAFETY CRITICAL ISSUE FOR RECALL BY HONDA (BUT ITI IS A SEVERITY RATING OF 10 - WITH MULTIPLE CAR FIRES AND AT LEAST ONE CRASH INCIDENT REPORTED TO NHTSA), BUT WHEN IN THE DEALERSHIP HANDS, IT IS COMPOUNDED FOR SAFETY REASONS! SPEAKING TO THE RECALL CENTER, THEY ARE IN POSITION TO DO ANYTHING. IF YOU WANT A FILE COMPLAINT - YOU NEED A CASE RECORD TO BE FILED. IT IS THEN REVIEWED BY A JUDGE PANEL TO ASSESS WHETHER HONDA BELIEVES THE ISSUE IS LIFE OR DEATH, AND UNDER OBLIGATED TO REPLACE A KNOWN FAULTY DEVICE. HONDA IS REPUTED TO HAVE QUALITY OVER COST - BUT CLEARLY, COST OVER LIFE IS IGNORED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V030000 (AIR BAGS). THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 10048139. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
VEHICLE IS LEAKING COOLANT. A RECALL AND EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS DONE BECAUSE HONDA KNEW OF AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE BLOCK CRACKING. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN 2012, NO NOTICE WAS SENT TO ME ABOUT THE RECALL, HOWEVER, I AM A REGISTERED OWNER AS I RECEIVED THE RECALL FOR THE AIR BAGS. I BELIEVE HONDA SHOULD REPAIR MY VEHICLE AS I HAVE JUST BECOME AWARE OF THE RECALL AND THE CAR NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. I'VE WAS DRIVING WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR OVERHEATED. THERE WAS NO COOLANT IN THE RADIATOR. PLEASE FORCE HONDA TO MAKE GOOD ON REPAIRING THEIR PRODUCT. RECALLS SHOULD NEVER EXPIRE PER YOUR SITE.
I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE CAR OVERHEATED. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THE HONDA DEALER SAID THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK CRACKING WAS A KNOWN DEFECT BUT SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY COULDN'T FIX IT.
I HAVE CONTACTED CORPORATE HONDA AND MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TRYING TO GET INFORMATION PERTAINING TO A REAR WHEEL BEARING RECALL. CORPORATE HONDA'S RECORDS SHOW THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED BACK IN OCTOBER OF 2008 BUT DO NOT HAVE RECORDS OF ANY PARTS THAT WERE REPLACED. ALL OF THE SYMPTOMS I AM EXPERIENCING ARE EXACTLY WHAT IS OUTLINED IN THE RECALL BUT I AM BEING LED IN CIRCLES TRYING TO GET THIS RESOLVED. IT IS FRIGHTENING TO DRIVE AND DUE TO FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS I CAN NOT RISK THE INSPECTION FEE THAT I AM BEING TOLD I WILL HAVE TO PAY. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT. HAD THE ENGINE FAILED THIS MAY HAVE BEEN A CATASTROPHIC EVENT. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM AND OTHERS HAVE NOT BEEN AS LUCKY AS I HAVE. HONDA IS WELL AWARE OF THIS MASSIVE PROBLEM AND HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE ENGINE BLOCK TO 10 YEARS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE. HONDA WILL NOT RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM IF YOUR VEHICLE IS OVER THE 10 YEAR TIME FRAME. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL REGARDLESS OF AGE AND MILEAGE. LAST WEEK I WAS CHANGING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID ON MY HONDA CIVIC AND NOTICED COOLANT LEAKING AND TURNED OUT THAT MY ENGINE BLOCK IS CRACKED AND LEAKING COOLANT. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND HONDA HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10-048. I NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT THIS. I CALLED HONDA AND TURNS OUT I WAS TOO LATE TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS SERVICE BULLETIN. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ERROR AND HONDA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CORRECTED PART. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR OUT OF MY POCKET AND EVEN IF I CAN I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE CHEAPEST ROUT AND BUY A SECOND HAND ENGINE AND I WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. A KNOWN DEFECT - THE ENGINE BLOCK ON OUR 2006 HONDA CIVIC CRACKED WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. WE'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR LESS THAN 2 YEARS AND WERE NEVER ADVISED THAT THE CIVIC ENGINE BLOCK WAS PRONE TO THIS - OR WE WOULD HAVE NOT PURCHASED THE CAR. EVEN THOUGH HONDA "EXTENDED" THE WARRANTY FOR THIS KNOWN DEFECT, WE ARE OUT OF THE WARRANTY COVERAGE PERIOD - THUS LEFT TO FOOT THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING THE ENGINE ON OUR OWN. ON 11/15/2017, I BOUGHT THE ABOVE VEHICLE FROM CONDEMI MOTOR COMPANY. I NOTICED COOLANT SMELL. I OPENED ENGINE COVER. FIRST THING I FOUND THE ANTI-FREEZE RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. I COOL THE RADIATOR AND TOPPED THE COOLANT ALSO THE RESERVOIR. THE NEXT DAY, I DROVE THE CAR AND OPENED THE HOOD. I FOUND A COOLANT LEAKAGE, SHOW IN THE PICTURES. I COOL DOWN THE RADIATOR AND THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS CLEARLY REDUCED. AS WELL RESERVOIR TANK.

2006 HONDA CIVIC WITH ONLY 44,326 MILES. LITTERALLY A 6,000 MILE A YEAR DRIVER. DRIVING DOWN THE STREET ABOUT 45 MPH FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES WHEN I STARTED SMELLING THE SWEET SMELL OF COOLANT. PULLED OVER AND SAW THAT COOLANT WAS SPURTING OUT OF AN AREA SOUTH OF THE SPARK PLUGS ABOUT 6 INCHES DOWN ON THE ENGINE BLOCK. FILLED IT BACK UP WITH COOLANT AND MADE IT HOME. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR TEMP INCREASE UNTIL I MADE IT HOME. IF I WERE DOING 70 ON THE HIGHWAY, THE HEAT AND PRESSURE WOULD HAVE BLOWN IT ALL OUT AND MY ENGINE WOULD HAVE OVERHEATED. LOOKS LIKE A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK WITH ONLY 44K. COME TO FIND OUT, THAT HONDA SIMPLY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY INSTEAD OF DOING A RECALL. TOO BAD US SECOND OWNERS DIDN'T GET THE INFO.

HONDA ALREADY RECOGNIZED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE BLOCK OF THE 2006-2008 MODELS, SINCE THEY EVEN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FROM 8 TO 10 YEARS. MY CAR IS ALREADY 11 YEARS, BUT ONLY HAVE 105,000 MILES TO IT. I USED TO DRIVE A COMPANY VEHICLE, AND HAD ONLY BEEN USING MY CIVIC FOR SHORT TRIPS. IF MY CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN MY PRIMARY VEHICLE. THAT ENGINE BLOCK WOULD HAVE CRACKED BEFORE THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY WAS UP. SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I COULD SEE THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE AFFECTED BY THIS. I WAS QUOTED $5800 TO FIX THE ENGINE BLOCK THAT HONDA KNOWS IS DEFECTIVE. THAT'S THE SAME AS THE VALUE OF MY CAR. ONE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE OTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THERE WAS A PREMATURE CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR THE ENGINE BLOCK FOR A10-048, WHICH SUPERSEDED 10-048. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ENGINE. THEY STOPPED IT AT 10 YES AND MINE HAD FAILED AT 11 YRS. IT WAS A KNOWN MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. YET WILL DO NOTHING AFTER 10 YRS. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE TODAY, AND MY MECHANIC FOUND IT WAS LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK. ONE OF THE MECHANICS DID A SEARCH AND SURE ENOUGH FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS A FLAW THAT HONDA KNEW ABOUT. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW FROM A HONDA DEALERSHIP IN LATE 2015, AND I HAD NOT HEARD ABOUT THIS ISSUE. WE DISCOVERED THIS MORNING THAT BECAUSE OF THE FLAWED ENGINE, HONDA HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON MY ENGINE TO 10 YEARS. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR MORE THAN 11 YEARS, SO THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT HELP ME. THEY ACTUALLY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE A PART THAT THEY PUT IN MY CAR THAT THEY KNOW IS FAULTY JUST BECAUSE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS. I HAVE TAKEN EXCELLENT CARE OF MY CAR, AND I HAVE NEVER HAD TO HAVE ANY WORK DONE ON IT BESIDES ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. AFTER TAKING THE CAR OUR 2006 HONDA CIVIC MODEL TO HONDA DEALER SERVICE FOR TSB 10-048 FOR (HONDA CIVIC 2006-2009 YEAR MODEL) DUE TO ENGINE COOLANT LEAK WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO OVERHEATS WHILE HE WAS DRIVING FROM HIS WORK, IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS A VALID ENGINE DEFECT,BY HONDA TECHNICIAN - A CRACKED ON ENGINE BLOCK WAS THE CAUSED OF THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, SINCE WE BOTH THE CAR ORIGINALLY FROM THE SAME HONDA DEALER PLACE WITH THE DELIVERY DATE OF OCTOBER 2005. THEY CONSIDER THE CAR AS 11 YEARS OLD AND OUTSIDE THEIR 10 YEARS WARRANTY AND THE ONLY WARRANTY THE AMERICAN HONDA CORP WILL BE 50 PERCENT OF THE PARTS AND LABOR COST FOR REMOVING AND REPLACING AN ENGINE. MY POINT IS, ITS BECAUSE MY CAR MODEL BETWEEN WAS PURCHASED OCT 2005 AND NOT 2006 THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE A FULL WARRANTY COVERAGE THE MANUFACTURE DEFECT FROM THE COMPANY? OUR ENTIRE FAMILY AND HOUSEHOLD OWNS 5 HONDA CARS, 3 CIVICS, 1 ACCORD AND 1 CRV WITH THE TRUST ON THE PRODUCT THEY HAVE IN THE PAST. HOW CAN'T THEY MAINTAIN A GOOD QUALITY PRODUCT ON THE LINE. THIS IS THE 2ND CIVIC IN OUR HOUSEHOLD WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, OUR DAUGHTER'S 2008 HONDA CIVIC HAD THE THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE AT NO COST LAST SUMMER 2016. WHY CAN'T THEY FULLY COVER THIS ONE, WITH THE SAME ENGINE DEFECT JUST BECAUSE IT WAS PURCHASED 3 MONTHS SHY FROM THE DELIVERY DATE BEFORE 2006. HONDA WOULD LIKE US TO PAY $2000 FOR THEM TO PERFORM UNSCHEDULE REPAIR DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE ENGINE THEY INSTALL ON THE CIVIC'S CAR BETWEEN (2006-2009). HOW MANY CONSUMERS WHO PURCHASED THOSE CIVIC'S THAT ARE NOT AWARE OF THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN AND UNAWARE OF THE TSB BUT INSTEAD DECIDED TO SHOULDER THE ENTIRE COST HAVE AN OPERATIONAL CAR IN THE HOUSEHOLD, BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL CONSIDERED TO SEND TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE? HOPE THIS ISSUE GETS RESOLVE.
