TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V030000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (LUNDGREN HONDA OF GREENFIELD, 409 FEDERAL ST, GREENFIELD, MA 01301) WHERE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2016. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2017. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
NEW OWNERS OF THE CAR AND WERE NEVER INFORMED OF A RECALL. NOW THE ENGINE BLOCK IS CRACKED AS STATED IN THE HONDA RECALL BUT ONLY ALLOWS REPAIRS ON CARS FOR UP TO 10 YEARS OLD. OUR CAR HAS JUST REACHED 11 YEARS OLD FROM SALE 1 MONTH AGO!
PAINT PEELING ALL OVER ROOF, HOOD, FENDERS, AND TRUNK LEAVING A WHITE FROST. LOOKS HORRIBLE. STARTED ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO ON THE HOOD AND HAS SLOWLY SPREAD ACROSS THE CAR WITH NO SIGNS OF STOPPING.
CRACK ENGINE BLOCK AS THE OTHER HONDAS FROM 2006 AND 2009
DRIVING AND CAR OVERHEATED AND STOPPED. TOWED TO HONDA DEALERSHIP AND FOUND CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. ONLY 50,000 MILES ON CAR, LIKE NEW AND WELL MAINTAINED. NO RECALLS. WHEN INVESTIGATED ON LINE FOUND WELL DOCUMENTED DEFECTIVE DESIGN AND MATERIALS ON ENGINE BLOCK. THE HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE WOULD NOT HONOR THEIR SECRET WARRANTY. THERE WAS NO RECALLS ON THIS WELL DOCUMENTED DEFECTIVE CAR. I GUESS YOU HAVE TO DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK, BUT IN THIS CASE, THEY KNEW IT WAS A DEFECTIVE MATERIAL DESIGN JUST WAITING TO IMPLODE!!!!
MY HONDA CIVIC EX 2 DOOR LOOSES POWER THEN SPUTTERS IN OVER DRIVER
ENGINE OVERHEATED WHEN DRIVING CAUSING DANGER TO GET TO SIDE OF ROAD, WHEN CHECKED COOLANT NEAR EMPTY. NO LEAKING OF COOLANT WAS NOTED. DEALER TESTED ENGINE AND BLOCK CRACKED AT 93K. DEALER STATES THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT BY HONDA ON THIS MAKE AND YEAR BUT WILL NOT COVER.
IN 2013 I BOUGHT A HONDA CIVIC 2006 FROM A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN LONG ISLAND. IN 2017 MY ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED. WE LATER CAME TO FIND OUT THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT ON THE CAR. WE NEVER KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT A WARRANTY OR A RECALL ALTHOUGH HONDA SAYS IT WASN'T A RECALL IT WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WE HAD NO IDEA, WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED. WE ARE 10 OVER THE WARRANTY PERIOD. WE BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP THAT WASN'T HONDA AND BASICALLY NOW NOBODY WANTS TO HELP US DO ANYTHING. IT WILL BE AT LEAST $4,000 TO FIX THIS CAR WHICH WE DO NOT HAVE AND WE ARE BEYOND FRUSTRATED AND UPSET. ANY KIND OF RECOURSE YOU CAN GIVE US WOULD BE EXTREMELY HELPFUL THANK YOU.
AFTER DIVING MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC ABOUT 5 MILES, I COULD SMELL IT BURNING AND SEEN SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. NOTICE THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS HIGH AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START...HAD THE CAR TOWED TO HONDA WHERE I WAS TOLD THE WARRANT HAD EXPIRED... I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC, IT DEVELOPED A CRACKED ENGINE AT 120K MILES AND COOLANT LEAKED. ITS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HONDA CIVIC WITH A WEAK POINT IN THEIR NEW ALUMINUM ENGINE WITH A WARRANTY ISSUED NUMBER 10-048. INITIALLY THE WARRANTY WAS ISSUED FOR 8 YEARS AND THEN INCREASED TO 10 YEARS. HOW EVER MY HONDA IS 11 YEARS OLD AND IN SPITE OF LOW MILEAGE HONDA REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING. SHAME ON HONDA FOR PROVIDING A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND NOT FIXING IT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE SUDDENLY INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS HOT. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS NEARLY EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (RUSTY WALLACE HONDA IN KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SHORT BLOCK CRACKED AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000.
DRIVING AND ENGINE STARTED OVERHEATING. WAS ON THE ROAD WHEN I HAD TO PULL OVER, ADDED COOLANT AND THE NEXT DAY TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. WAS TOLD THERE IS A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR HONDA AS THERE WAS AN ISSUE IN THE MOLD THEY USED FOR CASTING. THEY DID OFFER AN ADDITIONAL 5 YEAR WARRANTY ON THIS PART BUT LOOKING ONLINE THESE PROBLEMS ARE APPEARING IN 11 OR 12 YEARS. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM A JUDGE WHO PASSED AWAY AND HIS SERVICE RECORDS WERE UP TO DATE AND THE CAR WAS IN GREAT CONDITION. HOWEVER N REVIEWING THE HONDA WEB SITE THIS ISSUE WAS NEVER MENTIONED. I WAS FORTUNATE NOT TO BE ON A HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE COULD HAVE BEEN BLOWN UP.
I TOOK MY WELL MAINTAINED HONDA CIVIC INTO A LOCAL MECHANIC TO REPAIR MY AIR CONDITIONING AND AFTER SPENDING $250 WAS INFORMED IT WASN'T A PROBLEM WITH THE AC, BUT THAT MY ENGINE BLOCK IS ACTUALLY CRACKED AND IS LEAKING COOLANT. MY 2006 HONDA HAS 142,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN RUNNING VERY WELL UP TO THIS POINT. APPARENTLY IF MY ENGINE BLOCK WOULD HAVE CRACKED 10 MONTHS AGO IT WOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER WARRANTY. BUT BECAUSE IT'S A 2006 AND THE WARRANTY ONLY LASTS FOR 10 YEARS I AM OUT OF LUCK. MY CAR THAT WAS WORTH $5000 TO $6000 A WEEK AGO IS NOW VALUED AT $0. I FEEL LIKE SOMEONE JUST STOLE MY CAR OR AT LEAST WRECKED IT. I HAVE CHECKED WITH MY HONDA DEALER AND HONDA CORP. NEITHER ARE WILLING TO HELP WITH A NEW ENGINE REPAIR, I REALIZE THAT MY CAR IS 11 YEARS OLD, BUT WHEN I PURCHASED THIS HONDA I FIGURED IT WOULD GO AT LEAST 250,000 MILES. THAT IS WHY I BOUGHT IT. I HESITATE REPAIRING THE CAR, WHICH WILL RUN ABOUT $1800 BECAUSE THE NEW ENGINE BLOCK COULD ALSO CRACK! HONDA KNOWS THERE IS AN ENGINE BLOCK PROBLEM, BUT THEY ARE UNWILLING TO RESOLVE IT.
TSB 10-048. LOWER ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED AND COOLANT LEAKED CAUSING ENGINE TO OVERHEAT AND FAIL. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT DESCRIBED IN SERVICE BULLETIN 10-048 AS A RESULT OF HOW THE BLOCK WAS CAST. THE SERVICE BULLETIN EXTENDS WARRANTY OF THE ENGINE BLOCK TO 10 YEARS FROM THE PURCHASE DATE BUT MY 2006 CIVIC FALLS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY RANGE RIGHT NOW AND AMERICAN HONDA REFUSED TO COVER THE REPLACEMENT COST. THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT COST IS NOW WORTH MORE THAN THE VALUE OF THE CAR. THE ISSUE HAPPENED JUST GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY. THE HEAT GAUGE SHOT ALL THE WAY UP AND THE ENGINE SEIZED WITH WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT. THERE WERE NO INDICATORS ON THE DASH PRIOR TO THIS SO IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO NOTICE COOLANT LEAKING.
I HAD JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 1 WEEK PRIOR AND WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE STREET IT STARTED SMOKING PROFUSELY THEN THE ENGINE SHUDDERED. BEING SCARED, I PULLED OVER RIGHT AWAY AND HAD IT TOWED. I FOUND OUT THE BLOCK CRACKED AND THIS IS HAPPENING ON MOST CIVICS OF THIS YEAR DUE TO FAULTY PARTS. I CALLED HONDA, THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T HELP AND ITS MY FAULT FOR BUYING AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD CAR! THIS IS A FAULT OF HONDA AND THEY REFUSE TO ADDRESS IT

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA OF STATEN ISLAND (SERVICE MANAGER, JEFFERY PASENKOFF, 1232 HYLAN BLVD, STATEN ISLAND, NY 10305, 718-720-0075) WHERE THE AIR BAG RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THREE MONTHS LATER, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND WENT OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE A COURTESY DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE "CURTAIN AIR BAG" FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WAS NOT STUCK IN THE RETRACTED POSITION AND THE PASSENGER WAS UNABLE TO SECURE THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (TAMPA HONDA LOCATED IN TAMPA, FLORIDA) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
THE BOLT IN MY MOTOR KEEPS BREAKING OFF CAUSING MY ENGINE TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH OR LESS, THE VEHICLE EMITTED A STRANGE ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO SEE LIQUID COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND IT WAS TOWED TO THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING ANTI-FREEZE FROM A FRACTURED ENGINE BLOCK. THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK OR ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER DUE TO THE RELATION TO MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: 10056874 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE BAILEY HONDA DEALER CONFIRMED THE DIAGNOSIS AND ITS RELATION TO THE MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: 10056874 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 06115822. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
MY CAR SUDDENLY LEAKED A LOT OF ANTIFREEZE. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED. A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH MY MAKE/MODEL OF VEHICLE. WELL THIS WAS A SURPRISE TO ME. THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY. FORTUNATELY I WAS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND NOT THE HIGHWAY. HONDA SAYS HAVE KNOW THE ORIGINAL ENGINE WAS FAULTY, BUT THAT I AM OUT OF LUCK REPAIR WISE. THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS AND NEVER NOTIFIED ME. (THEY CLAIM SINCE IT WAS NOT A RECALL THEY DID NOT HAVE TO) I BELIEVE THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT HAS YET TO BE RECALLED! HONDA HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 TO 2009 HONDA 1.8 LITER ENGINES INSTALLED IN THE CIVICS, THE ENGINE BLOCK CRACKS AND WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THE REPLACEMENT. THE HONDA REP ADMITTED THAT THE BLOCK CASTINGS WERE FLAWED FOR THOSE THREE YEARS. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP EVEN WAS SURPRISED THAT HONDA DID NOT TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE.

WE TOOK THIS VEHICLE IN WHEN WE RECEIVED THE RECALL, I BELIEVE IN 2013. THEY STATED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH WE HAD NOISE, VIBRATION AND CONTROL ISSUES, WE HAD TO HAVE THE WHEEL BARRING REPLACED SUMMER OF 2017. ALL NOISE AND CONTROL PROBLEMS ENDED.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE A COUPLE MONTHS BACK ON A LOAN AND EVENTUALLY FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MANUFACTURERS DEFECT FOR THE ENGINE BLOCK AND HELD A TEN YEAR PERIOD OF GETTING A NEW ONE AND I WOULD LIKE TO GET A ONE BECAUSE I HAVE ISSUES PERTAINING TO IT BY EVERYPLACE I GO TO EVEN HONDA SAYS I MY CAR WASN'T ON THE LIST OF RECALLS EVEN WHEN I SHOWED THEM PROOF AND NOW I'M PASSED THE DEADLINE AND STILL HAVE NO SOLUTIONS. SOON I'LL BE STUCK PAYONG A CAR LOAN FOR A CAR I CAN'T USE BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET TO HELP I NEEDED WHEN IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY HAS 156000 MILES NOW

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOUSE AND THEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK HAD CRACKED AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHEN THE CONTACT SAT DOWN IN THE VEHICLE AND CLOSING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG SUDDENLY DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. DURING THE INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE KEY WAS NOT INSERTED IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CONTACT SUFFERED AN INJURED NECK, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (HARDEN HONDA IN ANAHEIM, CA) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
THE CIVIC HAS A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. WITHOUT ANY WARNING IT SUDDENLY RAN HOT LAST WEEK (OF COURSE LATE AT NIGHT ON A HIGHWAY). WE HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THIS MODEL AND THAT HONDA HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS, BUT WE ARE NOW 1 YEAR OUT OF THAT WARRANTY. DEALERSHIP SAID TO CONTACT HONDA OF AMERICA. HOA SAID TO CONTACT DEALERSHIP. SO WE ARE GETTING THE RUNAROUND. TWO SMALL REPAIR SHOPS AREN'T EVEN ABLE TO DO THE REPAIR. HONDA NEEDS TO HELP US GET THIS REPAIRED AT NO COST OR A VERY LOW COST.
WHILE DRIVING ON A STATE HIGHWAY ENGINE OVERHEATED WITH COOLANT LEAKING FROM A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK.
CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO HONDA, AND THE OFFER A 10 YEAR WARRANTY ON IT, BUT AFTER 10 YEARS THEY BASICALLY TELL YOU SORRY YOU'RE OUT OF LUCK. HOW CAN THEY DO THIS WHEN THE ENGINES THEY MADE WERE FAULTY?
I OWN A 2006 HONDA CIVIC WITH 99,000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING TO SCHOOL WHEN I NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT OF MY ENGINE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. THE INSIDE OF THE CAR HAD A STRONG DISGUSTING SMELL. I GOT THE CAR CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A CRACK ON THE ENGINE BLOCK. I DID RESEARCH ON THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT. HONDA TOOK NOTICE OF THE DEFECT AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE CAR. THE DOWNFALL, HONDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ONLY UP TO 8 YEARS AFTER THE PURCHASE DATE. I AM A SECOND OWNER AND HAD NO IDEA THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE; HAD I KNOWN I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE CRACKED AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ENDED AND NOW HONDA IS SAYING THAT I MUST BARE ALL COSTS EVEN THOUGH I AM A SECOND OWNER. THIS IS NOT RIGHT BECAUSE IT IS NOT MY FAULT THE ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED. HONDA SHOULD STILL COVER THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT IS A DEFECT ON THEIR PART.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, VEHICLE RAN HOT. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD, LEFT THE CAR UNTIL IT COOLED, ADDED WATER, AND BROUGHT IT HOME. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID I HAD A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. A USED ENGINE WOULD COST $2100. I DON'T KNOW WHAT A NEW ONE WOULD COST. I WAS TOLD I COULD GO THROUGH THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE USED ENGINE THAT I DID HAVE INSTALLED. I ALSO WAS TOLD ABOUT THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WHICH WAS ISSUED FOR THIS PARTICULAR MODEL. I TALKED WITH SOMEONE AT HONDA CORPORATION AND WAS TOLD 2 TIMES THAT THEY WOULD DO NOTHING BECAUSE MY 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED IN AUGUST 2016. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED ON APRIL 22, 2017 WITH 98500 MILES ON THE CAR.IF HONDA KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH WORKMANSHIP OR MATERIAL, THIS SHOULD BE COVERED NO MATTER HOW LONG YOU HAVE OWNED THE CAR. I HAVE SUNG HONDA'S PRAISES FOR 20 YEARS WITH 2 CARS. MY RELATIONSHIP WITH HONDA HAS ENDED.

HOW EVER MY HONDA IS 11 YEARS OLD AND INSPITE OF LOW MILEAGE HONDA REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING. SHAME ON HONDA FOR PROVIDING A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND NOT FIXING IT.
MY CIVIC HAS A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK DUE TO A KNOWN MANUFACTURE DEFECT. HONDA EXTENDED WARRANTY OUT TEN YRS FROM ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE BUT DID NOT NOTIFY OWNERS OF POTENTIAL PROBLEMS. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE CAR CAN OVERHEAT AND/OR ENGINE FAILS WITHOUT WARNING AND STEERING LOCKS UP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. HONDA SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE AS THEIR ACTIONS HAVE NOT ONLY BEEN IRRESPONSIBLE BUT FRAUDULENT. THERE SHOULD BE NO TIME LIMIT ON A MANUFACTURE DEFECT PARTICULARLY WHEN OWNERS DID NOT RECEIVE NOTIFICATION.

AS I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN RT 102 WEST BOUND IN RHODE ISLAND, IN THE LEFT LANE OF A TWO LAND ROAD IN ROUGHLY THE 30 - 40 MPH RANGE WITH MY 7 MONTH OLD TODDLER IN THE CAR SEAT IN THE BACK SEAT, THE SIDE AIR BAGS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CAR DEPLOYED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION FOR NO APPARENT REASON. MY CAR WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT AND DID NOT HIT A POT HOLE OR A BUMP IN THE ROAD. IT WAS A SMOOTH DRIVE UP UNTIL I HEAD A LOUD BANG AND WAS SMACKED IN THE SIDE OF THE HEAD WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, WHEN THE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. MY DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT IS LOCKED UP AS WELL. I WAS LEFT WITH A TEMPORARY RED MARK ON MY NECK AND A RINGING IN MY EARS. AFTER 3 HOURS THE HEARING IN MY LEFT EAR HAS YET TO RETURN BACK TO NORMAL. I DO NOT KNOW WHY THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED OR WHAT COMPONENT IS THE CAUSE. THIS INCIDENT ENGAGED MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY CHILD.

CAR OVERHEATED. LEFT MY DAUGHTER STRANDED, ALONE, LATE AT NIGHT ON A RURAL HIGHWAY. LATER IDENTIFIED A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. PROBLEM IS KNOWN TO HONDA. NOT REVEALED TO USED CAR BUYERS. HONDA WILL NOT HELP WITH REPAIR BECAUSE THE CAR IS BEYOND 10 YEAR WARRANTY. WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT CAR IF SHE HAD KNOWN. PREYS ON PEOPLE WHO BUY 10 YEAR OLD HONDAS, PEOPLE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THIS BIG OF HIT. NOW SHE HAS TO PAY FOR A CAR SHE CAN'T DRIVE AND FIND ANOTHER WAY TO WORK.
MY 2006 CIVIC SLOWED TO A CRAWL AND STARTED SMOKING FROM UNDER THE HOOD ON THURSDAY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS OR PRECURSORS TO THIS EVENT. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO FIND A SAFE PLACE ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT BEING STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE OR PRECIPITATING AN ACCIDENT. AAA TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC WHO RAN A COOLANT PRESSURE TEST WHICH REVEALED A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. I AM THE 2ND OWNER. THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT IN 2007 AS CERTIFIED FROM LOCAL DEALER. I WAS GIVEN NO NOTICE OF WARRANTY EXTENSION OR TSB 10-048. HAD I KNOWN, I WOULD HAVE SOLD THE VEHICLE BEFORE INCURRING THESE UNEXPECTED COSTS FOR AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
TAKATA RECALL THIS RECALL HAS BEEN ACTIVE SINCE MAY 23, 2016 AND HERE WE ARE NEARING 12 MONTHS LATER AND "REMEDY NOT AVAILABLE" LANGUAGE STILL BEING DISPLAYED.
MY VEHICLE STARTED LEAKING COOLANT DUE TO A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. HONDA HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE, AND THE LETTER ACKNOWLEDGES THE EXISTENCE OF A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE CAUSING THIS ISSUE. THE WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE WAS EXTENDED TO TEN YEARS, BUT MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY A LITTLE OVER ELEVEN YEARS SINCE PURCHASE, AND HONDA DECLINED ANY ASSISTANCE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER ACCOUNTS OF THE ENGINE CRACKING IN THIS MANNER RIGHT AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED. FURTHER, DESPITE BEING APPLICABLE TO ALL 2006-2008 MODELS AND CERTAIN 2009 MODELS, THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT IS ONLY OFFERED AFTER THE CRACK/OVERHEATING EVENT OCCURS, AND OWNERS HAVE NO ABILITY TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE ENGINE UNDER THIS WARRANTY WITHOUT EXPERIENCING A PRIOR FAILURE. THIS DEFECT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED FOR OWNERS IN WHAT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON SITUATION BEYOND THE TEN-YEAR WARRANTY EXTENSION.
CAR OVERHEATED WHILE ON HIGHWAY. QUICK CHECK FOUND COOLANT HAD DROPPED. ADDED COOLANT, LEAK UNKNOWN. TOOK TO HONDA, THEY SAID LEAK FROM ENGINE BLOCK HAD A LETTER FROM HONDA WITH THIS ISSUE FOR 06-09 ENGINES IT COULD HAPPEN. INSTEAD OF RECALL, THEY EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS. MINE EXPIRED LAST 07-2016. FOUND OTHERS WHO HAD ISSUE AROUND 90K MILES. MINE IS AT 89,500 MILES. MANY OTHER MAY FACE SAME ISSUE, LEFT FACING AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR INSTEAD OF RECALL. HONDA WILL NOT BUDGE ANY REPLACEMENT DUE TO KNOWN ISSUE OR AID IN A REDUCED COST.

TOOK TO HONDA DEALER WHO TOLD ME THERE WAS RECALL FOR CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK BUT HAS SINCE EXPIRED AND NOW WANT $4500 TO REPAIR - MORE THAN THE VALUE OF THE CAR! I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE'S EVER AN EXPIRATION ON A RECALL. HONDA REALLY WANTS UNSUSPECTING PEOPLE OUT DRIVING WITH A KNOWN PROBLEM? THERE WAS NO WAY FOR ME TO HAVE KNOWN THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM SINCE WHEN I CHECKED MY VIN #, NO OPEN RECALLS SHOWED UP (I GUESS SINCE IT WAS ALREADY EXPIRED WHEN I PURCHASED IT - JULY 2016 FROM USED CAR LOT). PRETTY DISAPPOINTING THAT A DEALERSHIP COULD SELL ME A CAR WITH A KNOWN RECALL. PLEASE HELP ME. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE FRONT WHEEL MADE CLICKING NOISE FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. WHILE I WAS DOING THE AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALL AT A DEALERSHIP, THE MECHANIC THERE TOLD ME THE DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEARING WAS BROKEN, AND THE DRIVE SHAFT AND THE WHEEL BEARING NEED TO BE REPLACED. I AM SITTING IN A MECHANIC SHOP TO REPLACE THE DRIVER SIDE DRIVE SHAFT AND WHEEL BEARING NOW ( WHICH COSTS ME 500 BUCKS), THE MECHANIC TELLS ME THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARING IS ALSO BROKEN. I REALIZE THE WHEEL BEARING PROBLEM COULD BE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. INDEED, THERE IS A RECALL ON THE O-RING IN 2006( NOT SURE IF MY CAR WAS IN THE RECALL OR NOT), AND DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT WHEEL BEARING HAS BEEN FILED HERE ON NHTSA. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM MIGHT BE DRIVING ON THE ROADS NOW, WHICH MIGHT CAUSE FATAL ACCIDENTS. I WISH THE COMPANY TAKE ITS RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX THIS PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE.
CENTER BRAKE LIGHT HAS BAD CONNECTION AND DOES NOT WORK ALL THE TIME. I HAD A DIFFERENT 2006 CIVIC THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE SEEN OTHERS ON THE ROAD. THIS IS AN LED LIGHT AND THE LIGHT IS FUNCTIONAL BUT THE CONNECTION IS BAD. PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN BRAKING AT ANY SPEED. ONGOING PROBLEM.
ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED AND IS LEAKING COOLANT, REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF THE WHOLE ENGINE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE COVERED IN HONDA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10-048, BUT THAT ONLY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS. MY CAR WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD IN JULY 2006, SO THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 7 MONTHS PAST THAT 10-YEAR CUTOFF. I'VE BEEN QUOTED $5800 FOR A NEW ENGINE, WHICH IS MORE THAN THE CAR'S VALUE. THERE ARE MANY OTHER OWNERS OF 2006 MODELS IN THE SAME SITUATION ALREADY, AND THERE WILL BE EVEN MORE AS EACH SUBSEQUENT MODEL YEAR UP TO 2009 HITS THE 10-YEAR MARK. LUCKILY I CAUGHT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT BECAME A MAJOR HAZARD. FIRST THE CAR'S HEATER QUIT BLOWING WARM AIR, THEN A FEW DAYS LATER I NOTICED COOLANT LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH ANY TIME I PARKED. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO FOUND THE CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. IF I HADN'T NOTICED THE LEAK AND THE COOLANT HAD BEEN COMPLETELY DEPLETED, THE ENGINE COULD HAVE OVERHEATED AND POSSIBLY FAILED ALTOGETHER WHILE DRIVING.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
