WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG COULD INFLATE AND THAT IT COULD SEND OUT DEBRIS THAT COULD SERIOUSLY HARM THE PASSENGER. NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED UNTIL HONDA CAN PROVIDE REPLACEMENT PARTS. IN THE MEANTIME, THE NOTICE SAID, DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. HONDA SHOULD PROVIDE ALTERNATE MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FIXED IN OUR 2006 HONDA CIVIC.
NOTICED CAR TEMP RISING AND GETTING HOTTER, NO INDICATORS OR WARNINGS LIGHTS. LET CAR COOL OFF AND NOTICED THE COOLANT WAS EXTREMELY LOW, CAR HAD ALL FLUIDS TOPPED OFF DURING A RECENT CHECK UP. ADDED COOLANT. ALL SEEMED FINE TILL THE NEXT WEEKEND WHEN CAR STARTED HEAT UP AGAIN, BROUGHT CAR INTO SHOP. FOUND ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED AND WAS LEAKING COOLANT. UPON FUTURE INVESTIGATION CRACK IS SAME LOCATION AS REFERENCE TSB NO. 10-048. SINCE THIS HAPPENED 20 DAYS AFTER THE 10 YEAR DATE HONDA IS REFUSING TO REPLACE. WE PURCHASED THE CAR A YEAR AGO FROM A DEALER AND WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE.
NHTSA RECALL 16V-346: I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HONDA INFORMING ME OF A SAFETY RECALL INVOLVING THE PROPELLANT WAFERS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG OF MY VEHICLE THAT COULD CAUSE INJURY TO A VEHICLE OCCUPANT. HONDA IS NOT OFFERING TO PROVIDE ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION, THE LETTER STATES THAT UNTIL PARTS ARE AVAILABLE TO MAKE A REPAIR LATER IN THE SUMMER I SHOULD NOT HAVE ANYONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS IS OUR FAMILY CAR, MY YOUNG DAUGHTER SITS IN THE BACK SEAT BEHIND THE PASSENGER SEAT, WE OFTEN HAVE A SECOND CHILD IN THE BACK OF THE CAR, AND A LARGE DOG. WE CAN'T POSSIBLY AVOID USING THE PASSENGER SEAT WHEN THE BACK SEAT IS FULL, AND OUR OTHER CAR IS TOO SMALL TO ACCOMMODATE EVERYONE. WHEN I REQUESTED A RENTAL CAR FROM MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR THE PERIOD UNTIL THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, IT WAS DENIED. I CONTACTED HONDA AND HAD TO SUBMIT A REQUEST FOR ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION AND WAS TOLD A CASE WORKER WOULD CONTACT ME IN 2 WEEKS OR SO. I THINK THIS IS ALL ABSURD. THEY ARE IMPLYING THAT AN AIRBAG RECALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS NOT AS HAZARDOUS AS ONE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, AND ALSO THAT A REASONABLE SOLUTION IS TO JUST NOT USE THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE RESPONSE, AND IT HAS LEFT MY FAMILY IN DANGER UNTIL THE REPAIRS CAN BE MADE, WHENEVER THAT WILL BE. NO ESTIMATED TIME LINE HAS BEEN GIVEN.

THE SUN VISOR IS FALLING APART BECAUSE THE METAL SPRING INSIDE HAS BROKEN THE PLASTIC WITHIN THE VISOR. THE VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP AND IT IS DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER. I COULD FEEL A DIFFERENCE IN THE MOTION OF THE VISOR OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS AND IT FINALLY BROKE YESTERDAY. THIS IS THE PASSENGER VISOR (THE DRIVER'S VISOR WAS REPLACED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO FOR THE SAME PROBLEM) AND IS PRIMARILY USED TO HOLD A SUN SHADE IN PLACE WHEN IT IS PARKED. EVERYTHING WITHIN MY CAR IS TREATED VERY GENTLY SO THAT MY TEN YEAR-OLD CAR LOOKS ALMOST BRAND NEW.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THE OCS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED AND WHILE WAITING FOR THE PART TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. TAKATA RECALL, PROPELLANT WAFERS DEGRADE OVER TIME. SEE ATTACHED FOR DETAILS. I FIRST RECEIVED THIS SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN JULY 2016. I THEN CONTACTED HONDA. THE PHONE REPRESENTATIVE CONTACTED HERSON'S HONDA LOCATED IN 15525 FREDERICK RD, ROCKVILLE, MD 20855 AND SET UP A PHONE APPOINTMENT. WHEN I SPOKE TO HERSON'S THE POC TOLD ME THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART IS NOT AVAILABLE AND DEALERSHIP WILL CONTACT ME ONCE IT ARRIVES. HE ALSO MENTIONED THAT IT COULD TAKE MORE THAN 90 DAYS. AS OF TODAY, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I AM NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING ON BUT I DO NOT THINK HONDA IS TAKING THIS SAFETY ISSUE SERIOUSLY.
I RECEIVED A PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG RECALL NOTICE JULY 23, 2016. UPON RESEARCH, HONDA RECALL WEBSITE STATES NOTICES WILL GO OUT JUNE23? WHY WAS MY NOTICE NOT RECEIVED UNTIL 30 DAYS LATER? ADDITIONALLY- WE ARE SUPPOSED TO RECEIVE ANOTHER NOTICE "LATE JULY TO AUGUST". AND THE NOTICE SAYS DO NOT LET ANYONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE? THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE! BETWEEN CAR POOL, TAKING KIDS TO SCHOOL, TAKING KIDS TO SPORTS PRACTICES- WHERE ARE THEY ALL SUPPOSED TO SIT? IF YOU CANNOT EXPEDITE REPAIRS, PARTS, OR THE RECALL NOTICE, A FREE RENTAL SHOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE LIABILITY POSITION YOU HAVE JUST PLACED YOURSELF IN IS ABSOLUTELY TRAUMATIC. I HAVE BEEN HEARING ABOUT TANAKA AIR BAGS FOR OVER A YEAR AND ALL THE ASSOCIATED INJURIES AND DEATHS-- AND WE JUST NOW RECEIVE NOTIFICATION?? TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ON THE FREEWAY, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES AND CUTS ON THE LEGS, BACK, AND RIGHT ARM THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED BRUISES FROM THE SEAT BELT. THE REAR PASSENGER SUSTAINED CUTS TO THE FOREHEAD, A FRACTURE ON THE FRONT OF HIS SKULL, AND BRUISING IN THE BRAIN AND ABDOMEN THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A TOW LOT. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V346000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.

L/H SUN VISOR ASSY OF OUR 2006 HONDA CIVIC EXPERIENCED A CATASTROPHIC MECHANICAL FAILURE. MODE OF FAILURE WAS SPLITTING OF A BONDED JOINT OF THE UPPER AND LOWER PLASTIC PIECES THAT SURROUND & CAPTURE L/H (PRIMARY) ROTATION MECHANISM. INTERNAL MECHANISM IMPARTS SIGNIFICANT INTERNAL STRESS ON THE BONDED JOINT EACH TIME SUN VISOR RE-POSITIONED. UNDAMAGED SEAM GIVES ROTATIONAL RESISTANCE WHEN VISOR IS STOWED OR FULLY FORWARD (SOMEWHAT OUT OF THE DRIVER'S FIELD OF VIEW). THIS FATIGUE-INDUCED FAILURE MODE PRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. THE VISOR ASSEMBLY FAILS IN THE WORSE POSSIBLE POSITION: HANGING VERTICALLY DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER OBSCURING SIGHT THROUGH THE UPPER SECTION OF THE WINDSCREEN. THE DEFECTIVE SUN VISOR IS A CONSTANT DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER. IT CANNOT BE ROTATED AROUND THE PRINCIPAL AXIS INTO ANOTHER POSITION WITHOUT IMMEDIATELY FALLING DIRECTLY BACK INTO THE DRIVER'S LINE OF SIGHT. THE FAILED SUN VISOR COMPLETELY OBSCURES OVERHEAD TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND SIGNAGE. THIS MODEL YEAR HONDA CIVIC HAS A DOCUMENTED HISTORY OF THIS PARTICULAR FAILURE MODE. A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT CIRCA 2011 WAS APPLICABLE ONLY TO VEHICLES WITH LESS THAN 100K MILES OR 7 YEARS (REF: "SETTLEMENT WEBSITE FOR COOPER, ET AL. V. AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO., INC., ' CASE NO. BC 448670"; URL: HTTP://SETTLEMENT-CLAIMS.COM/VISORSETTLEMENT/). THIS PARTICULAR VISOR FAILURE OCCURRED SOON AFTER A LIMITED 'EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD.' OUR VEHICLE'S ODOMETER READING IS 103,574 MILES. PRIMARY DRIVER NOTICED THE VISOR BECOMING "LOOSE" BUT UNTIL IT FAILED COMPLETELY, IT MAINTAINED COMPLETE FUNCTIONALITY (I.E., WOULD STOW & STAY). AS THE DEFECTIVE BOND IS EFFECTIVELY HIDDEN, THE DRIVER CANNOT EASILY VISUALIZE ANY PROGRESSIVE FAILURE OF THE FATIGUING BOND FAILURE. NEITHER OF DRIVERS RECALLS RECEIVING INFORMATION FROM HONDA WARNING OF THIS POTENTIAL FAILURE OR AVAILABLE REMEDIES.

THE DEALERSHIP IS DUE TO REPLACE THE TAKATA PASSENGER AIR BAG INFLATOR ON JULY 16. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE NECK, CHEST, AND KNEE, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A JUNK YARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
TAKATA RECALL. WE WERE RECENTLY NOTIFIED OF COVERAGE IN THE AIRBAG RECALL AND RECEIVED THE INSTRUCTION TO AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE (CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE) REPAID HAS BEEN PERFORMED. THIS CAUSED ME TO NOTICE THAT THE "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" INDICATOR WAS NOT ILLUMINATING EVEN WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS EMPTY. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE DANGEROUS DEFECTIVE AIRBAG REMAINS ACTIVE EVEN WITHOUT A PASSENGER THERE. I CALLED THE HONDA RECALL CENTER AND SPOKE WITH A SUPERVISOR, MS. VANESSA ROBINSON, WHO TOLD ME MY ONLY RECOURSE WAS TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR SERVICING TO A DEALER AT MY OWN EXPENSE TO HAVE THE AIRBAG INDICATOR CHECKED. I THINK I CAN REASONABLY TAKE THE CAR'S USER DISPLAY AT FACE VALUE, SUGGESTING THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE SENSOR CAUSING THE AIRBAG TO REMAIN ACTIVE, SUCH THAT HONDA SHOULD PROVIDE AN INTERIM MECHANISM TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM AS PART OF THE RECALL. I AM PARTICULARLY CONCERNED GIVEN THAT WE USED OUR 2006 HONDA CIVIC IN TEXAS FOR MANY YEARS, WHERE I UNDERSTAND THE CLIMATE INCREASES THE RISK FROM THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS. TAKATA RECALL. RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE FIRST WEEK IN JULY, HAVE CONTACTED BROOKDALE HONDA, BROOKLYN CENTER, MN SEVERAL TIMES REGARDING REPAIR AND AM ALWAYS TOLD THE "PART IS ON ORDER, WE WILL CONTACT YOU WHEN PARTS ARRIVE". IT IS VERY INCONVENIENT NOT TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER IN MY CAR.
WHILE DRIVING CAR A BURNING SMELL CHECKED COOLANT & WAS EMPTY REFILLED & PARKED CAR, NEXT DAY WENT TO DEALER ,SAID CRACKED HEAD GASKET KEPT OVERNIGHT THEN SAID COOLANT EVAPORATED SAID BURNING CAME FROM PLASTIC BACK ON EXHAUST I SAW THE TECH WHEN HE WAS WORKING ON MY CAR & HE SAID HAD CRACKED HEAD GASKET, THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME COPY OF DETAILED WORK ORDER JUST MY RECEIPT FOR CHARGES, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW?

I RECEIVED A LETTER IN JULY 2016 (OFFICIAL DATE MAY 23, 2016) DETAILING AN IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL ON MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE PROBLEM IS THAT "THE PROPELLANT WAFERS IN SOME OF THE SUBJECT INFLATORS MAY DEGRADE OVER TIME, WHICH COULD LEAD TO OVER-AGGRESSIVE COMBUSTION IN THE EVENT THE AIRBAG IS ACTIVATED." THE LETTER GOES ON TO EXPLAIN THAT THIS COULD CAUSE METAL FRAGMENTS TO PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION AND HARM THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT. THE ONLY OPTION GIVEN IN THE LETTER IS TO AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED. ACCORDING TO THE LETTER, THE PARTS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE AVAILABLE BY NOW. HONDA HAS DECIDED THAT A DEFECT WHICH RELATES TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY EXISTS IN CERTAIN 2006-2011 MODEL YEAR CIVIC VEHICLES. THE PROPELLANT WAFERS IN SOME OF THE SUBJECT INFLATORS MAY DEGRADE OVER TIME, WHICH COULD LEAD TO OVER-AGGRESSIVE COMBUSTION IN THE EVENT THE AIRBAG IS ACTIVATED. THIS PROBLEM COULD LEAD TO POSSIBLY CAUSING INJURY TO VEHICLE OCCUPANT. TAKATA RECALL COMPLAINT SUN VISORS FELL APART CAUSING HARM, INJURY
SUN VISOR GLUE MELTS IN THE HEAT AND THE SUN VISOR STOPS FUNCTIONING AND CREATES A VISIBILITY PROBLEM. ALSO, PIECES OF PLASTIC CAN FLAKE OFF AND FALL ON THE DRIVER, POTENTIALLY GETTING IN THE DRIVER'S EYE WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HAD SO MANY ISSUES WITH MY CIVIC, NOT LIMITED TO A SCATTERED TRANSMISSION (~110K), A LED BRAKE LIGHT GOING OUT (~90K), AND NOW IT LOOKS LIKE THE 10-048 CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK (JUST RECENTLY).

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND HEARD A CLICKING NOISE. BY THE TIME I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY THE OIL LIGHT WAS ON. MY CAR THEN DIED AND SOON FOUND THE CAR HAD OVERHEATED. I TOOK IT TO HONDA AND THEY SAID IT IS PROBABLY A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK BUT WERE UNABLE TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN MORE THAN 8 YEARS SINCE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS OFFERED FOR THIS PROBLEM.

SITTING IN THE BACK OF A HONDA CIVIC AS AN ADULT IS A VERY OVERRATED EXPERIENCE, MORESO WHEN IT'S DONE EVERY DAY.
