WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD AT 65MPH, MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC EXPERIENCED AN UNEXPECTED OVERHEATING INCIDENT. WHILE SURROUNDED BY HEAVY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, I JUST BARELY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE EXPRESSWAY SAFELY. IT TURNS OUT THAT THE 2006 HONDA CIVIC HAS A KNOWN MANUFACTURER FLAW THAT RESULTS IN CRACKED ENGINE BLOCKS AND CONSEQUENT LOSS OF COOLANT. SINCE THE CRACK WAS ON THE INSIDE, I HAD NO WAY TO TELL THAT I WAS DRIVING WITH SUCH RISK. THERE WERE NO LIQUID DRIPS UNDER MY VEHICLE. HONDA WILL YEARS OWNERSHIP. MY VEHICLE WAS 10 YEARS AND 2 MONTHS. THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY THEY OFFERED WAS FOR 10 YEARS, UNRESTRICTED MILEAGE. MY VEHICLE IS A LOWER THEN AVERAGE MILEAGE VEHICLE SO MY 10 YEARS WAS SLIGHTLY EXCEEDED. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE AND A FORMAL RECALL SHOULD BE OFFERED OR TIME AND/OR MILEAGE BE GRANTED TO ENSURE THAT OWNERS CAN HAVE THEIR VEHICLES INSPECTED AND REPAIRED. HAD I NOT BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC, I COULD HAVE CAUSED A HUGE ACCIDENT THAT COULD RESULT IN THE LOSS OF MY LIFE OR OTHER VEHICLE OPERATORS WHO WERE TRYING TO AVOID ME. HELLO! A VERY WELL-KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 06-09 HONDA CIVIC IS A TENDENCY FOR THE ENGINE BLOCKS TO CRACK. FREQUENTING ONLINE FORUMS AND WEBSITES, IT SEEMS A WIDE RANGE OF PEOPLE ARE AFFECTED FROM LESS THAN 1,000 MILES TO UP TO 200,000 MILES. THAT BEING SAID, IT SEEMS THIS CAR IS A LITERAL TIME BOMB. THERE HAVE BEEN INCIDENTS OF PEOPLE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ONLY TO RAPIDLY LOSE POWER TO ALL SYSTEMS, INCLUDING THE BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS IS A PROFOUND SAFETY HAZARD, NOT ONLY TO THE DRIVER, BUT OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL! THAT BEING SAID, HONDA ADMITTED THAT THE TENDENCY FOR BLOCKS TO CRACK WAS DUE A FAULTY CASTING PROCESS. THEY HAD ISSUES AN INITIAL 8 YEAR WARRANTY AND INCREASED THAT TO 10 YEARS. AS OF LATE, MANY CURRENT OWNERS HAVE STILL HAD THEIR BLOCKS CRACKED. ONLY THIS TIME, HONDA IS REFUSING TO FIX THEIR FAULTY PRODUCT. AS SUCH, I WANTED TO BRING ATTENTION TO THIS ISSUE AND HOPE SOMETHING CAN BE DONE TO ALLEVIATE THIS MATTER. A CAR'S BLOCK UNDER NORMAL MAINTENANCE AND USE SHOULD NEVER CATASTROPHICALLY FAIL, LET ALONE RISK PEOPLE'S LIVES! THERE IS A LEAK COMING THROUGH DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG WHEN IT RAINS. NO BODY WORK OR ACCIDENTS IN THIS CAR.

I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC LX WITH ONLY 53,000 MILES ON IT LATELY IT HAS BENN ONE REPAIR AFTER OTHET I HAD THE TRANMISSION DONE IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE GEAR NET IT STARTED TO LEAK OIL FOR THE ENGINE THE SEAL WAS REPLACED NEXT IT LEAKED FROM ANOTHER PART OF THE ENGINE I HAVE A BILL REPAIRS IN WRITING ALSO THE MOTOR MOUNT WAS CRACKED, AND ANOTHER SEAL HAD TO BE REPLACED I HAVE INVOICE OF PAYMENT FOR ALL THIS WORK STARTING FROM NOV OF 2015 TO PRESENT JUST PICKED MY CAR UP TODAY FOR THE LEAKS AND A STARTER HAD TO BE PUT ON CAR WAS DRAGGING AND NOT STARTING 5/7/2016 I ALSO TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER SHIP FOR OVER HEATING AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T FINE ANYTHING I WAS NOT PLEASED MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY DID NOTHING ABOUT IT BUT CHARGED ME 114.00 TO LOOK AT IT THIS WAS UNFAIR AND SHOULDN'T BENN DONE AS A GOOD WILL CHECK BUT I WAS TREATED LIKE I HAD TO BRING MY CAR THERE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE HONDA CIVIC ON FRIDAY MORNING 4/16/16 WITH SOME OTHER PEOPLE IN THE CAR WHEN FUMES STARTED COMING OUT OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. HE PULLED OVER BECAUSE IT WAS OVERHEATING. TOOK THE CAR TO MIDAS WHICH WAS CLOSED BY AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A CRACK IN THE ENGINE. HE WAS ASKED BY MIDAS $2600 TO GET THE ENGINE REPLACED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I TOLD THEM THAT IF THEY KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE WHY DIDN'T THEY ISSUE A RECALL. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT UP WITH THE HONDA CORPORATE OFFICE. PEOPLE COULD HAVE GOTTEN HURT FROM THIS INCIDENT.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC THE ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED AND ENGINE OVERHEATED, MAKING MY CAR A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD, UNSAFE AND UNDRIVABLE. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE ONLINE I FOUND PLENTY OF OTHER HONDA OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CAUSE OF THE ENGINE CRACK WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT FROM HONDA.
UNEVEN AND RAPIDLY WEARING TIRES ON THE 2006 CIVIC. THESE UNEVEN TIRE PROBLEMS CAN QUICKLY TURN INTO BRAKING ISSUES AND ALSO LEAD TO DIFFICULT TO CONTROL VIBRATIONS, GIVING ME FITS WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.

THE PAINT BEGAN TO PEEL AWAY FROM THE CAR ABOUT 1.5 YEARS AGO. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. CAR LOOKS HORRIBLE
TAKATA RECALL. OUR 2006 HONDA CIVIC HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAGS. THE LIGHT INDICATING AIRBAG FAILURE LIT UP, SO WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO SAID IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED, SO WE WONDER WHY WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND WHY THIS MODEL YEAR WAS NOT RECALLED.
REAR TIRES HAVE PREMATURE WEAR FROM INSIDE OUT AND WEARING FAST. CAUSING ALOT OF VIBRATION AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THERE WAS BLACK ICE ON THE ROAD THAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL. AFTER BEING ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, ANOTHER VEHICLE REAR ENDED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE GUARDRAIL AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BACK AND KNEE INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CIVIC VIN# [XXX] THAT HAS A ENGINE BLOCK HAIR LINE CRACK. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY TOLD ME BASED ON THE VIN THAT I PROVIDED THIS VEHICLE DOESN'T QUALIFY UNDER THE RECALL. SO WAS THIS JUST A COINCIDENCE THAT MY VEHICLE HAD A CRACK ON THE ENGINE BLOCK. THEY VEHICLE IS A DAILY DRIVEN CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN MY WIFE NOTICED A COOLANT SMELL. ENGINE BLOCK AND HEAD CRACK.
A FEW MONTHS AGO I NOTICED DISCOLORATION OF PAINT ON MY ROOF. IT COULD HAVE BEEN THERE FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND I JUST NEVER NOTICED IT. TODAY WHILE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE, THE TECH ADVISED ME THAT HONDA HAD HAD A RECALL ON HONDA CIVICS AND OTHER MODELS TO COVER THE REPAINTING OF FADING AND/OR PEELING PAINT, CLEAR COAT, ETC., ON THE AFFECTED YEAR MODELS. I HAD NEVER BEEN ADVISED OF THE RECALL OR I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT IN SOONER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE SHE WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT IMPACT. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE SIDEWALK. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES AND TRAUMA INJURIES WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HER RESIDENCE WHERE AN APPRAISER DEEMED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS AND TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A SALVAGE LOT. THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER KELLY HONDA LOCATED AT 540 LYNNWAY, LYNN, MA 01905, (781) 595-5252, WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I have a cracked engine block due to the service bulletin and I need Honda to repair asap among other problems
BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISORS ARE FAILING TO FUNCTION AS INTENDED. THE DRIVER SIDE WAS UNABLE RETURN TO THE STOWED POSITION BLOCKING VISIBILITY FORCING THE DRIVER TO DUCK BELOW IN ORDER THE MAINTAIN VISIBILITY OF THE ROAD WHEN APPROACHING STEEP GRADES.
DRIVER DOOR KEY CYLINDER FAILED AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. COULD NOT ACCESS CAR ON A SUB ZERO NIGHT AND HAD TO WAIT 2 HOURS FOR EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE. DRIVER'S DOOR IS THE ONLY KEYED DOOR ON THIS 4 DOOR MODEL. WE ARE NOW ON OUR THIRD DOOR CYLINDER SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW. LAST FAILURE WAS 3 YEARS AGO. REPAIR COSTS FOR THIS DEFECT NOW TOTAL AROUND $2,000. FOR THE SAME DOOR!!! HAVE NEVER OWNED ANY OTHER CAR WHERE THERE WAS A SINGLE LOCK FAILURE UNTIL THIS CIVIC (AND OUR FAMILY HAS OWNED 15 OVER THE YEARS). OF COURSE, HONDA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE POSITION IS "NOT OUR PROBLEM AS THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY" THIS IS CLEARLY A SUPPLIER DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

AFTER CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE PART NUMBER AND MANUFACTURER OF THE AIR BAGS IN THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A TAKATA AIR BAG, PART NUMBER: 77810-SNA-A82ZA. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V572000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. SHOULD YOU HAPPEN TO LOSE BATTERY POWER, HONDA'S "IMMOBILIZER" ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM WILL LOSE ITS MEMORY AND UNABLE TO RECOGNIZE THE OWNER'S KEYS. HONDA'S SOLUTION IS TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED INTO THE LOCAL DEALER WHERE THE UNIT AND KEYS NEED TO BE RE-CODED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE IN A YEAR'S TIME. NOT ONLY IS THIS COSTLY, INCREDIBLY INCONVENIENT, BUT A SAFETY HAZARD SHOULD IT HAPPEN ON A ROAD TRIP. HONDA REFUSES TO DO ANY ACCOMMODATION OR FIX OF THIS PROBLEM.

AFTER WAITING SOME TIME, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE HAD A CRACK AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
MY HONDA CIVIC EX 2006 2 DOOR COUPE HAS THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT OFF. AS I REMOVED THE 3RD LED BRAKE LIGHT AND LOOK AT THE YOUTUBE, GOOGLE AND FORUMS, A LOT OF THE HONDA CIVIC EX 2006 HAS THE SAME ISSUE WHERE THE SOLDERING ON BOTH SIDES COMES UNDONE DUE TO VIBRATION BUT POOR SOLDERING CONNECTION. I HAVE SEEN ALL HONDA CIVICS 2006 EX WITH THE SAME ISSUE ON THE ROADS WHERE THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT IT OFF. I FIXED IT BY RE-SOLDERING, BUT THE WIRE IS SO TIGHT AND NOT MUCH ROOM TO RESOLDER - EVENTUALLY THE SOLDERING COMES LOOSE AGAIN. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AND NOT A DEALER TO CHARGE $1000 TO REPLACE THE LED LIGHT AS MANY HONDA CIVICS 2006 EX ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.

PURCHASED 4 GOODYEAR VIVA 2 TIRES, FROM WALMART ON 10/27/2014, FOR THE FIRST FEW MONTHS THEY WERE GREAT. AFTER AWHILE I KEPT NEEDING TO GET THEM REBALANCED DUE TO VIBRATING, THEY STARTED GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER. HAD TO KEEP GETTING MY CAR ALIGNED EVERY OTHER MONTH. TODAY ON 10/22/2015, DRIVING STRAIGHT ON CRUISE CONTROL AT 70MPH ON INTERSTATE 376, I STARTED HEARING THIS AWFUL NOISE, I THOUGHT IT WAS A WHEEL BEARING THAT KEPT GOING BAD. THEN THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE, AND I STARTED SMELLING BURNT RUBBER AND SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE BACK. I PULLED OFF THE CLOSET EXIT AND INTO THE CLOSET PARKING LOT, TO FIND THAT THE TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT ON THE SIDE WALL. I WENT TO THE WALMART THAT I PURCHASED THESE TIRES FROM. SINCE I PURCHASED ROAD HAZARD THEY REPLACED THE TIRE AT A PRORATED RATE. BUT THEY DON'T SELL VIVA 2'S ANYMORE, THEY REPLACED IT WITH A VIVA 3. I HAVE 3 OTHER OF THESE TIRES, IF IT WAS A FRONT TIRE AND ME GOING 70MPH, THAT PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAVE ENDED SO PRETTY. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH THESE TIRES ON.

SO THEY WONT REPLACE THEM UNLESS SOMETHING HAPPENS TO THEM OR THERE IS A RECALL. I EVEN HAD TO CALL CORPORATE TO TRY AND GET THE REPLACED AND THEY DIDNT WANT TO HEAR IT. IF IT WAS A FRONT TIRE AND ME GOING 70MPH, THAT PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAVE ENDED SO PRETTY. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH THESE TIRES ON.
BARELY 20 DAYS AFTER THE WARRANTY MY CAR STOPPED ON A HIGHWAY WITH WHITE FUMES UNDER THE HOOD. WITH BRAKES, TRANSMISSION, ACCELERATOR NOT WORKING, I HAD LITERALLY RELY ON MY LUCK TO GET IT OUT OF THE LAST LANE ONTO A SHOULDER. IT WAS SCARY. I TOWED THE CAR TO A NEAREST DEALER. HE DIAGNOSED CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK DUE TO OVER HEATING, COOLANT LEAKAGE. I HAD REPLACE THE ENGINE FOR 3494.90$.
WHILE EXITING THE PARKING LOT, I ADJUSTED THE SUN VISOR AND IT BROKE, HITTING ME ON THE FOREHEAD WHILE OBSCURING MY VIEW. I HAD RECEIVED A NOTICE OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WASN'T A RECALL ON THIS PART BUT, YES, THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT EXPIRED IN 2013. SHE THEN ADVISED ME TO CALL HONDA DIRECTLY. HONDA'S RESPONSE WAS THAT "WE SATISFIED THE COURT ORDER"AND THAT MY VISOR WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN REPLACED BACK IN 2013 AS IT WAS NOT BROKEN. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ON THE INTERNET, I SEE THAT THIS TENDS TO BE A RECURRING ISSUE, EVEN AFTER THE VISORS ARE REPLACED. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SRS MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE RECALL DETAILS WERE NOT PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 191,000.
