DEFECTIVE SHORT REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS ON HONDA CIVIC 2006 FOUR DOOR
KNOW PROBLEM WITH 2006 HONDA CIVICS THAT HONDA FAILED TO RECALL-- CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK CAUSED 2006 CIVIC EX COUPE TO OVERHEAT AND BREAK DOWN IN RALEIGH NC. WAS STRANDED FOR 4 HOURS IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PART OF TOWN AND HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED. HONDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE BLOCK RATHER THAN RECALL IT. CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE HONDA DEALER AND SAYS THAT THE HEAD IS WARPED DUE TO THE OVERHEATING. I CALLED HONDA OF AMERICA BUT THEY STATED THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS EXPENSIVE COLLATERAL DAMAGE OF THE WARPED HEAD BECAUSE THEY ONLY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE BLOCK EVEN THOUGH THE FAULTY BLOCK CAUSED THE HEAD DAMAGE. HONDA REPRESENTATIVE ON THE PHONE IMPLIED THAT I HAD BEEN NEGLIGENT IN SOME WAY, PERHAPS BY IGNORING A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAUSING THE DAMAGE. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN 2006 AND NEVER HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT UNTIL THE MOMENT THE CAR BROKE DOWN. HONDA IS ACTING IRRESPONSIBLY WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
HEAVY, LOOSE OBJECTS IN TRUNK STRUCK & BROKE OFF TRUNK LATCH ASSEMBLY, PREVENTING REAR HATCH FROM BEING OPENED IN ANY WAY, INCLUDING REMOTE. (NO EXTERNAL TRUNK KEYHOLE EXISTS.) SINCE REAR SEAT FOLD-DOWN RELEASES ARE LOCATED IN THE TRUNK, ONE OF THE REAR SEATS NEED TO BE UNBOLTED TO BE ABLE TO PULL THE SEAT RELEASE, REMOVE THE SEAT, AND MANUALLY UNLATCH THE TRUNK. THE DESIGN OF THE REAR LATCH IS NOT PROTECTED AGAINST STRIKES FROM HEAVY OBJECTS AND IS THEREFORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO DAMAGE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. IF THE LATCH WERE TO BREAK, THE VEHICLE GET A FLAT TIRE, AND THE DRIVER UNABLE TO REMOVE THE REAR SEAT FOR LACK OF TOOLS OR KNOW-HOW, THE DRIVER WOULD BE UNABLE TO ACCESS THE SPARE TIRE AND BE STRANDED. *TR
CLEAR COAT AND PAINT ON ROOF IS TURNING WHITE AND COMING OFF. *TR
I REPORTED TO HONDA DEALER THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE NOT PARKING PROPERLY. OPEN ROAD HONDA CHARGED $62 FOR A "DIAGNOSIS FEE" AND REPORTED THAT A NEW MOTOR WAS NEEDED THAT WILL COST $374.41. A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET SHOWS HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE. IT WOULD SEEM THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE CORRECTING THE PROBLEM AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. *JS
LAST EVENING 5/28/2014 AT 10:10 PM MY WIFE AND I WERE RUNNING AN ERRAND WHEN A DRIVER FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED BLINDLY ACROSS 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF US. DUE TO THE FACT A SEMI TRACTOR TRAILER COMBINATION WAS IN THE LEFT HAND LANE, STOPPED, I WAS UNABLE TO SEE ANY VEHICLE IN THE SUICIDE LANE UNTIL HE WAS IN MY LANE OF TRAVEL. WE WERE DRIVING AT APPROX 35 MPH WHEN THE COLLISION OCCURRED. MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC COUPE HIT A LATE 2000'S JEEP WRANGLER. IMPACT AREA WAS TO THE RIGHT FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AND THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL AREA OF THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELTS WORKED AS DESIGNED, BUT NEITHER AIRBAG WENT OFF. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE CAR AND THE LATERAL ACCELEROMETER ON THE RIGHT FRONT IS HANGING. THIS SYSTEM WAS FULLY OPERATIONAL, AND HAD NO CODES STORED IN THE SDM NOR ANY LIGHTS ON THE DASH. THE IMPACT WAS LESS THAN 6 INCHES FROM THE SENSOR. MY QUERY IS TO WHY THE BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SPEED SHOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT ENOUGH TO CAUSE DEPLOYMENT, AS WELL AS THE AREA OF IMPACT. *TR
A FAULTY DESIGNED UPPER REAR CONTROL ARM CAUSES UNEVEN TIRE WEAR AND ALIGNMENT & BRAKING ISSUES. *TR
AS THE OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY TYPE OF NOTIFICATION THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTED UNTIL I STARTED A WEB SEARCH FOR INFORMATION ON WHY THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED TO THE HONDA CIVIC. WE FORMERLY OWNED A HONDA ACCORD AND NEVER HAD ANY SERVICE PROBLEMS (OTHER THAN REGULAR MAINTENANCE CONCERNS). I AM REALLY DISAPPOINTED IN THE FACT THAT THIS IS TAKING UP TIME TO CONDUCT DISCOVERY OF FACTS, REPAIRING SOME OF THE PROBLEMS AND THEN BUYING NEW TIRES. THE TIRE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER UNEVEN WEAR!!! *TR
I RECENTLY JUST REAR ENDED SOMEONE ON THE FREEWAY WHO CAME TO A VERY SUDDEN STOP IN FRONT OF ME AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP IN TIME. MY CAR HAS $5,500 WORTH DAMAGES ALL IN THE FRONT END (AND IS NO LONGER DRIVABLE) FROM HOW HARD THE IMPACT WAS, FOR THE CAR I HIT HAD A STEEL RAMP ON THE BACK OF IT. MY AIRBAG DID NOT GO OFF AND I NOW HAVE A SPRAINED NECK, SHOULDER, AND NERVE DAMAGE SHOOTING DOWN MY LEFT ARM. MY SEATBELT DOES NOT RETRACT ANYMORE IT MUST HAVE LOCKED AND EVERY SINGLE PERSON EVEN MY DAMAGE ADJUSTER DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MY AIRBAG DIDN'T GO OFF, FOR IT SHOULD HAVE! *TR
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
I ON A 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX. YESTERDAY I CAME TO A STOP LIGHT AND APPLIED THE BRAKES AND AS I DID SO THE CAR STOPPED AND THEN THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RACE AND ROAR. I APPLIED THE BRAKES HARDER AS THE CAR BEGAN TO TRY TO JUMP FORWARD INTO THE INTERSECTION THE ENGINE RACED EVEN MORE AND THE BRAKES WERE NOT HOLDING THE CAR BACK SO I QUICKLY PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. I WAITED ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND THEN STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND KEPT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE CARE ENGINE WAS NORMAL THIS TIME AND THE ENGINE DID NOT RACE SO I DROVE HOME. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK MY CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER AND DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, BUT WHEN THEY DID A VISUAL CHECK OF THE GAS PEDAL, THEY FOUND THAT THE GAS PEDAL HAD COME LOOSE FROM THE FLOOR MOUNTING. THEY TIGHTEN THIS PART AND CHARGED ME FOR LABOR AND THE TIME ON THE COMPUTER (WHICH CAME TO $104.). THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART FOR SOME OF THE 2006 HONDA CIVICS, BUT THAT MINE WAS NOT THE RIGHT VIN NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL. WHEN I LOOK ON YOU WEBSITE IT TYPE IN MY VIN NUMBER AND MAKE AND MODEL, IT SAYS IT IS ON RECALL AND THAT THEY HAVE A MODIFICATION KIT FOR THE GAS PEDAL THAT THEY SEND TO THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR THE CAR FOR FREE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. I FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE ORDER THE REPAIR KIT FOR MY GAS PEDAL AND TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD SERVICE MY CAR FOR FREE. MY LIFE OR SOMEONE ELSE'S COULD HAVE BEEN AT RISK WITH THIS INCIDENT AND POSSIBLY WITHOUT THIS MODIFICATION KIT, IT CAN HAPPEN AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO GET MY CAR INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL AND FREE INSTALLATION OF THE MODIFICATION KIT AS IT SHOULD NOT BE EXCLUDED SINCE I OBVIOUSLY SUFFER THE SAME RISK AS THOSE OTHER 2006 HONDA CIVICS WITH THE APPROVED VIN NUMBERS. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE THE CONTROL ARM IN MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC FOR FREE EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE CAR AND A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS RECENTLY SETTLED REGARDING THE ISSUE. *TR
CAR BEGAN TO OVERHEAT RAPIDLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. SMOKE AND BURNING SMELL WAS COMING FROM ENGINE. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND HAVE CAR TOWED TO HONDA DEALERSHIP. FOUND ALL ENGINE COOLANT HAD LEAKED OUT THROUGH CRACK IN ENGINE. *TR
RETURNING HOME, I STRUCK A PARKED VEHICLE IN THE ROADWAY WITH SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO MY PASSENGER FRONT, SUSPENSION & FENDER. THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE WAS EVEN BROKEN BUT NO PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. VERY FORTUNATE THAT NO ONE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN & I NEED TO KNOW HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED.!....UPDATED 07/31/14 *BF
LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE TRYING TO AVOID AN OBJECT ON THE HIGHWAY. MY VEHICLE HIT THE RAILING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A COMPLETE LOST AS OTHER DAMAGE TO THE FRAME OCCURRED, AND THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WHEEL CAME OFF. *JS
?UNEVEN OR RAPID TIRE WEAR" DUE TO DEFECTIVE UPPER CONTROL ARM. CURRENTLY HONDA HAS A CAMPAIGN L-82 TO REPAIR THE C ARM BUT ONLY FOR THE CIVIC 2006-2007 SI OR HYBRID MODEL. MY CIVIC EX MODEL IS NOT COVERED. I TOLD THERE DEALER THAT HONDA HAD THIS SERVICE BULLETIN VIII-10-07 DATED BACK NOV 26, 2007. THIS SERVICE WAS ONLY COVERED OVER WARRANTY, UNFORTUNATELY I DON'T HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR MY 2006 CIVIC EX. IS THERE ANYTHING LEGALLY THAT CAN BE DONE, I AM SURE THERE ARE OTHER CIVIC OWNERS OUT THERE WITH THE SAME DILEMMA. *TR
I HAD A CAR ACCIDENT ON THE HUNTINGDON SIDE OF PINE GROVES MOUNTAIN ON PA 26 SOUTH. I DROVE A HONDA CIVIC 06 LX. WHEN I WAS GOING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN, I APPLIED THE BRAKE NORMALLY TO SLOW DOWN BEFORE A CURVE WHEN THE SPEED WAS AT 60 MPH, BUT MY CAR WAS DRIFTING, NOT LIKE HYDROPLANING AT ALL. THERE WAS NO WATER TO CAUSE THAT BUT IT RAINED FIVE TO SIX HOURS BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. DURING THE WHOLE COURSE OF INCIDENT, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT RESPONSIVE. WHEN IT STARTED TO DRIFT, IT SKIDDED TOWARDS THE INCOMING LANE. I TRIED TO CORRECT THE STEERING WHEEL SLIGHTLY, IT TOOK MUCH MORE FORCE TO OPERATE THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE DIRECTION WAS NOT CORRECTED, SO I ADJUSTED IT MORE. THEN THE HEAD SUDDENLY TURNED 60 TO 80 DEGREES AND HIT THE GUARDRAIL AND THEN THE CAR TURNED MORE THAN 180 DEGREES CLOCKWISE; THEN THE TAIL HIT A STOP-SIGN POLE AND THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MUD. SINCE THE CAR WAS STILL DRIVABLE, I DID NOT CALL THE POLICE TO CHECK THE SCENE. I THINK IT WAS CAUSED BY HONDA'S DESIGN DEFECTS SINCE I HAD GOODYEAR FOUR-SEASON TIRES WITH MORE THAN ENOUGH GRIDS, SO I WANT TO HIRE AN INVESTIGATOR TO INVESTIGATE MY CASE AND ASK HONDA TO BUY THE CAR BACK. BUT NONE OF THE LAW FIRMS I CONTACTED COULD HELP ME. DURING THE WHOLE COURSE, THERE WAS NO CAR COMING IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. TWO CARS PASSED ME BY WHEN I WAS PULLING MY CAR OUT OF MUD BUT NONE OF THEM STOPPED, SO I GUESS THERE WAS NO WITNESS. THE FIRST TIME WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKE AGAIN AFTER THE INCIDENT, I FELT THE BRAKE WAS FLIMSY, SO I DROVE MUCH SLOWER LATER, AT AROUND 40 MPH. I AM NOT SURE IF THE BRAKE COULD HANDLE THAT WET ROAD AGAIN, BUT MOST OF TIME AT MOST PLACES THE BRAKE DOES NOT FAIL, SO I ASSUME I EXPERIENCED A CASE, ON WET ROAD WITH DOWNHILL GRAVITY, THAT THE CAR IS INCAPABLE OF HANDLING. *TT

I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH WHEN MY CAR STARTED SLOWING. NO MATTER HOW HARD I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL IT WOULDN'T DRIVE OVER 30 MPH. IT THEN STARTED SMOKING, SO I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID I HAD A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK AND THAT THE OIL PROBABLY LEAKED COMPLETELY OUT IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. *TR
THE FOLLOWING IS THE LETTER I SENT TO HONDA. THE LETTER GOT PASSED AROUND AND I WAS TOLD TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE. PLEASE HELP SETTLE THIS MATTER. I WANT HONDA TO NOTIFY ALL CUSTOMERS OF THIS PROBLEM AND ALSO PAY FOR MY DAMAGES DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE. ON MONDAY, MARCH 17, AROUND 9AM, MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING CUT OUT COMPLETELY AND HAD NO STEERING. I HAD JUST TAKEN AN EXIT RAMP, 291B TOWARDS CHESAPEAKE, VIRGINIA AND MIRACULOUSLY MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE OFF RAMP WITH NO POWER. MY HONDA CIVIC HAS ONLY 61,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. I WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE A POLICE CAR PULL BEHIND ME AFTER WAITING ABOUT 20 HORRIFYING MINUTES. THE OFFICER SAID SHE WOULD PARK BEHIND ME BECAUSE SOMEONE WAS GOING TO HIT ME FROM BEHIND. TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY AND CARS AND TRUCKS WERE FLYING OFF OF I64 ON TO THIS 291B EXIT RAMP. IT WAS A SHOCK TO LEARN LATER THAT THE TENSIONER BOLT SUDDENLY BROKE OFF AND CAUSED THE WATER PUMP TO LOCK UP AND TENSIONER AND SERPENTINE BELTS TO BE DAMAGED. WHAT WAS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE, WAS TO LEARN THAT CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS HAD THE DRIVE BELT RECALLED TO INSTALL THE LONGER, REROUTED DRIVE BELT. THIS OBVIOUSLY NEEDED TO BE DONE ON MY CAR AS WELL. I AM SHOCKED AND UPSET THAT I WAS PLACED IN A SITUATION WHERE THERE WAS A POTENTIALLY KNOWN TRAGEDY THAT COULD HAVE OCCURRED. I HAVE BEEN A VERY LOYAL HONDA CUSTOMER TO THIS POINT, BUT REQUIRE THAT APPROPRIATE ACTION IS TAKEN. HONDA SHOULD COVER REPAIRS RELATED TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE AND ALSO, MOST IMPORTANTLY NOTIFY ALL CUSTOMERS PROMPTLY OF THIS KNOWN POTENTIAL DISASTER. 6/2013 CAR ACCIDENT I HIT A PARKED CAR TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MILES PER HOUR. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE COMPANY CHOSEN TO DO THE WORK (CUSTOM INNOVATIONS IN EUGENE, OREGON) DID NOT REPAIR THE MOTOR MOUNTS. WHICH IM VERY UPSET ABOUT AND TRYING TO DEAL WITH. AFTER HAVING THE WORK DONE THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO HONDA (KENDALL HONDA ALSO IN EUGENE, OREGON) TO HAVE AN ASSESSMENT OF MY CAR DIAGNOSED. THE WAS THE MOTOR MOUNT ISSUE AND OTHER ITEMS OIL CHANGE, TRANSMISSION FLUSH AND THE SRS LIGHT WAS ON. HONDA SERVICE DEPT. COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE SRS AND SAID THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME. THEY NEVER DID. APPROX 1MO. DIAGNOSIS AT HONDA, I WAS SITTING IN A PARK PARKING LOT CHARGING MY PHONE IN THE CAR WITH IT IN THE ACCESSORY POSITION. I HAD BEEN THERE ABOUT 10 MINUTES WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG IN THE SEAT AND THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG DEPLOYED. SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME AND MY DOG. I SUFFERED MINOR CUTS, ABRASIONS AND SEVERE BRUISING TO MY LEFT ELBOW AND TRICEP. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO HONDA. IT WAS A SUNDAY SO ONLY THE SALES TEAM WAS THERE. I WENT AGAIN ON MONDAY ONLY TO BE SENT AWAY, WITH A WE WILL CALL YOU.....VERY DISMISSIVE AND VAGUE. THEN AFTER CALLING 5-6 TIMES THEY FINALLY SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO LOOK INTO IT. AFTERWARDS, THEY DIDN'T HAVE MUCH TO TELL ME EXCEPT THAT IT WOULD COST ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR AND NO THEY DIDN'T HAVE AN ANSWER FOR WHY THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF. ESSENTIALLY I FEEL THAT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE IN ADDITION TO THE SRS SENSORS ALL BEING REPLACED BECAUSE I HAVE A FEELING THIS WAS ALL DUE TO THE RECALL ON THE PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM.....WHICH I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT NOR HAVE IT CHECKED PRIOR TO ANY OF THE MENTIONS EVENTS. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THERE IS A CHANCE THE OTHER AIRBAGS MAY DEPLOY AT RANDOM. I ALSO WOULD LIKE MY CAR TO HAVE ALL THE RECALLS COMPLETED. *TR
THERE IS ROARING NOISE FROM REAR TIRE (RIGHT SIDE) ON FREEWAY SPEEDS AND THE VEHICLE VIBRATES UNCONTROLLABLY. ON CHECK UP WITH TECHNICIAN, FOUND THAT THE REAR TIRE HAS WORN OUT UNEVENLY AND THIS IS CAUSING THIS NOISE AND VIBRATION. *TR
THE CIVIC WOULD START FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN SHUT DOWN. THE ANTI-THEFT IMMOBILIZER INDICATOR LIGHT CAME. ALL THREE OEM KEYS DID NOT WORK. THIS RESULTED IN THE NEED FOR A LONG DISTANCE TOW TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, AS WELL AS $209 IN REPAIRS. IN SOME CASES THE CRACK IN THE BLOCK THAT LEAKS IS APPARENT; IN MY CASE THE CRACK IS NOT VISIBLE OR EASY TO SEE AND THE DEALERS TECHNICIAN IS REFUSING TO HONOR THE RECALL THAT HONDA HAS ALREADY IN PLACE FOR THIS PARTICULAR MODEL. HONDA CIVIC 2006 EX MODEL: WHEN THE TINY PIECE OF PLASTIC INSIDE THE TRUNK RELEASE SOLENOID SNAPS, THE EX MODEL HAS NO ALTERNATIVE METHOD TO OPEN THE TRUNK FROM OUTSIDE THE TRUNK. SINCE THE EX MODEL LACKS AN OUTSIDE KEY HOLE AND THE SEAT BACK RELEASES ARE INSIDE THE TRUNK AND THE SEATS ARE BOLTED IN FROM THE TRUNK SIDE WITHOUT A METHOD OF REMOVING THEM WITHOUT DAMAGING THE CAR, THE SEATS OF THE CAR OR THE TRUNK LID MUST BE BROKEN (LITERALLY CUT THROUGH THE METAL) IN ORDER TO OPEN THE TRUNK FROM OUTSIDE THE TRUNK AFTER THE SOLENOID PLASTIC BREAKS. SINCE THE EMERGENCY RELEASE MECHANISM IS ATTACHED TO THE SOLENOID, THIS FLAW COULD COST THE LIFE OF A CHILD TRAPPED INSIDE THE TRUNK IN THE DARK. ALTHOUGH THIS DESIGN FLAW IS NOW WELL KNOWN WITH THIS EX MODEL, HONDA REFUSES TO REIMBURSE OWNERS OVER THIS PROBLEM OR RECALL THE PART. ON AUGUST 30, THE CAR WHEN PLACED INTO REVERSE GEAR WHEN BACKING FROM A PARKING SPACE, WENT FORWARD INSTEAD. OUR CAR HAS BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED AND SERVICED AND NEVER HAD AN ISSUE PRIOR TO THIS. WE ARE DEEPLY CONCERNED THAT THE CAR POSES A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE WHEN MOVING FROM A PARKED POSITION, MOVES IN A DIRECTION OTHER THAN THE ONE THAT THE DRIVER CHOOSES, AND DID NOT STOP WHEN MOVING IN REVERSE. THIS HAS OCCURRED THREE TIMES TO DATE WITHIN THE MONTH WITH TWO DIFFERENT DRIVERS. *JS
I TOOK MY CAR INTO A SHOP TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AND THEY SAID I HAVE UNEVEN TIRE WEAR HE SHOWED ME IT LOOKED LIKE ZEBRA STRIPES IN MY TIRES. HE SAID HE THINKS THIS WAS A RECALL. BUT HE ALSO SAID I NEEDED FRONT BRAKES. HE SAID THE REAR BRAKES WERE NOT BEING USED AT ALL AND THAT'S WHY MY FRONT BRAKES WENT SO QUICK. I WAS VERY UPSET. THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE SOLD ME A CAR THAT DIDN'T HAVE BRAKES IN THE REAR. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN 1 IS 3 AND THE OTHER IS 9. I REALLY NEED TO HAVE BRAKES IN MY CAR. *TR

2006 HONDA CIVIC. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING BACK FROM A TRIP, SHE HEARD A SLIGHT TICKING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND IT GRADUALLY SLOWED DOWN. SHE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE HER HUSBAND LIFTED AND TRIED TO CHECK THE OIL, BUT THERE WASN'T MUSH LEFT OF THE DIPSTICK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST REPAIR FACILITY. A DIAGNOSIS REVEALED A DEAD ENGINE. THE COST OF REPLACING THE ENGINE WAS NEAR THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. SO, SHE AND HER HUSBAND, DECIDED NOT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE FIXED.
