REAR OF CIVIC "SWAYS" WHEN GOING OVER ANY HIGHWAY IMPERFECTION AT ANY SPEED BUT RECOVERS WHEN ROAD SMOOTHS OUT.
PULLING IN TO PARK VEHICLE, CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND CAR WOULDN'T STOP. CAR WENT OVER EMBANKMENT AND THROUGH A FENCE BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. INSURANCE COMPANY JUST TOTALED THE CAR. UNKNOWN WHETHER ACCELERATOR AND BRAKES WERE FAILING. CAR WAS IN GOOD MECHANICAL CONDITION PRIOR TO ACCIDENT AND WAS SERVICED IN LAST 90 DAYS. SUSPECT ACCELERATOR MALFUNCTION SENDING VEHICLE INTO OUT-OF-CONTROL SITUATION. CAR HAD NO KNOWN RECALL ISSUES.
2006 HONDA CIVIC EX SEDAN. APPROXIMATELY 94,000 MILES AND HAVE WORN THROUGH 3 SETS OF TIRES. TIRES GET ROTATED AND BALANCED EVERY 7,500 MILES AND TIRES ARE ALWAYS GOODYEAR BRAND. ON 8/15/2015 NOTICED THAT 2006 HONDA CIVIC HAD A FLAT TIRE (REAR PASSENGER SIDE). AFTER REMOVING WHEEL AND INSPECTING TIRE IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE TIRE HAD BEEN COMPLETELY WORN THROUGH ON INTERIOR TREAD (WIRE MESH WAS WORN THROUGH AND ACTUAL HOLE HAD DEVELOPED IN TIRE). IT WAS SHOCKING AN COMPLETE TIRE FAILURE AND BLOWOUT HAD NOT TAKEN PLACE WHILE DRIVING. INDEPENDENT GARAGE SERVICED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED/AMENDED (ESTIMATED COST OF $1100.00) AND AT MINIMUM A NEW TIRE WAS NEEDED AS WELL AS NEW ALIGNMENT. NEW TIRE PUT ON, BALANCING AND ALIGNMENT OF ALL TIRES/WHEELS - $210.00 AS OF 8/18/2015. IT IS LIKELY THAT THE FAULTY CONTROL ARM ISSUES ARE TO BLAME FOR THE PREMATURE WEAR ON PREVIOUS AND CURRENT SET OF TIRES.
VEHICLE TURNED OFF SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING, WHILE IN MOTION. MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK THAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STOP. PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER AND VEHICLE IS INOPERABLE, BUT HONDA WOULD NOT PROVIDE A LOANER VEHICLE.
VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AT LOW SPEED. CEL CAME ON AND STARTED BLINKING AND VEHICLE WENT INTO "LIMP MODE". VEHICLE COULD NOT GO OVER 10MPH. CAR RETURNED HOME AND CODE INDICATED MISFIRE IN 3RD CYLINDER. COOLANT WAS EXTREMELY LOW AND A SMALL AMOUNT OF SMOKE/STEAM COULD BE SEEN COMING FROM TAILPIPE. PRESSURE TEST OF COOLANT SYSTEM REVEALED LEAKS IN ALL CYLINDERS (PRIMARILY C3). COMPRESSION TEST INDICATED CRACK IN HEAD (NEAR INTAKE). POSSIBILITY DUE TO OVERHEATING AND WARPING OF HEAD. CALLED HONDA AMERICA TO VERIFY THAT ISSUES IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY (SPECIFICALLY TSB 10-048). HONDA AMERICA DENIED WARRANTY BECAUSE THE TSB ONLY COVERS SPECIFIC EXTERNAL CRACKS IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE CRACKS ON THIS VEHICLE WERE LIKELY INSIDE THE HEAD, POSSIBLY INSIDE OF CYLINDER. CAUSE OF INITIAL OVERHEATING REMAINS UNIDENTIFIED. HONDA AMERICA MAINTAINS THAT THIS WARRANTY IS SPECIFIC TO EXTERNAL CRACKS.
AS THE SINGLE OWNER AND DRIVER OF AN 06 HONDA CIVIC THAT I PURCHASED NEW AND PAID FOR IN FULL, I HAVE FULL SERVICE FOR THE VEHICLE AS RECOMMENDED AT THE DEALER SITE WHERE IT IS PURCHASED. I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED FOR LUBE/OIL/& OIL FILTER CHANGE ON 7/27/2015 AND THEY ALSO PERFORM THE MULTIPOINT INSPECTION. IN JUST 12 DAYS, ENGINE OVERHEATING OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON I-95. UPON MY RETURN HOME FROM WORK, I HEARD A HUMMING I HAD NEVER HEARD BEFORE. AS I SLOWED DOWN TO LISTEN CLOSER TO DETERMINE ORIGIN, I SEE THAT NO ENGINE LIGHTS. AFTER FEW MINUTES, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATED SEVER OVERHEATING, THEN THE CAR SPUTTERS, RAPIDLY LOSING POWER -I BARELY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY OUT OF TRAFFIC ON I-95 WHEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF AND SMOKE. I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING OR EVEN A HINT OF A PROBLEM; NO NOISES, NO DASH LIGHTS ON, NO ISSUES WITH IGNITION, GEARS, OR DRIVING PERFORMANCE. I HAD TO ARRANGE THE CAR TOW TO MY DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT. AFTER THAT, THE DEALER REPORTS ENGINE IS COMPLETELY BURNED, NOT DRIVABLE AND NOT REPAIRABLE. THE OIL STRIP BURNS HALF WAY. THEY DONT KNOW WHAT CAUSES THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. THIS OVERHEATING PROBLEM IS NOT DUE TO THE CRACKS THAT ARE INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. THEY DON'T COVER THE REPLACEMENT COST. IF WE WANT TO REPLACE A ENGINE, A USED ENGINE BLOCK IS $5600. IT LOOKS LIKE I WILL NEED TO RENT A CAR FOR AT LEAST NEXT TWO WEEKS BECAUSE I AM STILL NEGOTIATING WITH MY DEALER ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IF IT IS COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY. THEY ARE UNABLE TO ANSWER ME WHAT CAUSE THE ISSUE WHEN THE CAR JUST FINISHED ITS SERVICE AND EVERYTHING INCLUDING ENGINE CONDITION IS GREAT. I COULD GO ON AND ON AND ON WITH THE COSTS INVOLVED, TIME INVOLVED AND THE INCREDIBLE INCONVENIENCE OF THIS EVENT.. NOT TO MENTION THE SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY!!!
WHILE DRIVING MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. I TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST AUTOZONE TO GET THE BATTERY CHECKED. THEY CHECKED THE BATTERY AND THE MANAGER OF AUTOZONE TOLD ME IT WAS NOT THE BATTERY BUT THE ALTERNATOR NOT GIVING THE CAR ENOUGH POWER. HE TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE IT TO LONG OR I COULD GET STRANDED. I WAS NEAR A RELATIVES HOUSE, WHILE DRIVING TO MY RELATIVES HOUSE MY A/C AND RADIO WHICH WERE ON AT THE TIME TURNED OFF, AND SEVERAL LIGHTS OF THE DASHBOARD CAME ON. I WAS PANICKED BUT MADE IT SAFELY TO MY RELATIVES HOUSE. A MECHANIC CAME TO MY RELATIVES HOUSE, AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A SHORT-CIRCUIT, THE WIRES WERE BURNT AND CAUSED THE ALTERNATOR TO CRACK. THE MECHANIC SAID TO ME IN SHOCK THAT MY VEHICLE COULD HAVE EXPLODED. THE WIRES WHICH ARE 'THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS' HAD CAUGHT FIRE AT THE TIP WHICH CONNECTS TO THE ALTERNATOR. THE CAR COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE.
DUE TO HONDA'S ADMITTED POOR PAINT JOB, PAINT BEGAN COMING OFF (ON ROOF FIRST). HONDA SAID THEY EXTENDED WARRANTY, WITHOUT NOTIFYING OWNERS. ALSO SAY IT IS NOT SAFETY RISK. IF THE ROOF RUSTS, THE SUN ROOF WILL CERTAINLY DISMOUNT CAUSING SAFETY ISSUE; IF SIDE PANELS RUST, EXHAUST ENTERS PASSENGER COMPARTMENT CAUSING SAFETY ISSUE. FURTHERMORE, HEADLIGHTS CLOUD TREMENDOUSLY REGARDLESS OF PREVENTATIVE ATTEMPTS. IF DRIVER CAN'T SEE PROPERLY OR ANOTHER CAR CANNOT SEE THE HONDA, IT IS A SAFETY RISK. HONDA AMERICA IS SIMPLY A LAME, PERHAPS ONCE GOOD COMPANY NOW TRYING TO RIDE ON REPUTATION TO SELL POORLY CONSTRUCTED VEHICLES AND DENY ALL LIABILITY FOR FAULTY WORK BY CLAIMING IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. SO FAR, NOTHING HAS HAPPENED, AND I'D LIKE TO KEEP IT THAT WAY. HOWEVER, IF HONDA AMERICA DOES NOT OWN THEIR MISTAKES AND FAULTY WORK, CORRECT THE PROBLEMS IT IS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE A SAFETY BREECH OCCURS.
SRS LIGHT STAYS ON AND AIRBAGS WON'T DEPLOY IN EVENT OF ACCIDENT. NO RECALL ISSUED TO FIX MUST PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR FAULTY DESIGN, SAFETY ISSUE. KNOWN ISSUE AMONG HONDA CIVIC 2006 OWNERS.
MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC LX MANUAL TRANSMISSION IN GALAXY GREY METALLIC, VIN [XXX], HAS PEELING AND CRACKING PAINT ON THE HOOD, PASSENGER SIDE FENDER, AND ROOF. ON 07/29/16 THE CAR HAD 38,000 MILES. I SHOWED IT THE DEALER ON 10/29/15 AND THEY TOOK PICTURES OF THE CAR AND SENT THEM TO HONDA, BUT I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM. THIS CAR IS WAXED TWICE A YEAR, IN THE SPRING AND FALL WITH A GOOD QUALITY CLEAR COAT SAFE WAX FROM TURTLE WAX. I TAKE PRIDE IN THE APPEARANCE OF THIS VEHICLE AND HONDA?S REFUSAL TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM IS VERY DISAPPOINTING. WAS DRIVING DOWN A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET GETTING READY TO TURN, DRIVER AIR BAG, PASSENGER CURTAIN, AND SIDE SEAT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, THE SEAT BELT IS NO LONGER IN WORKING ORDER BECAUSE OF THIS...AND HERE WAS NO REASON FOR THESE TO DEPLOY, NO IMPACT TO ANYTHING WHATSOEVER. HONDA ASK ABOUT POT HOLES AND IF WE ENCOUNTERED ONE, NOTHING TO THE AT EFFECT EITHER. I WAS HIT IN MY CHEST AND STOMACH, PASSENGER WAS HIT IN ARM AND SIDE OF HEAD FROM THESE. I AM IN MY FIRST TRIMESTER OF PREGNANCY. BOTH MYSELF,THE FIREBRAND PASSING WENT TO DR. HONDA CORP WAS CALLED AND NOTIFIED, REGIONAL MANAGER CAME TO LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO HAVE CAR LOOKED AT. HONDA REP INSISTED THIS WOULD NOT JUST HAPPEN, BUT IT DID, AS I WAS IN VEHICLE AND THE DRIVER. AFTER HAVING CAR INSPECTED, THEY INFORMED US THEY IT WAS IMPACT RELATED. THERE WERE NO DAMAGES, DENTS OR ANYTHING TO SUPPORT THIS "THEORY". THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING TO THE CAR EXCEPT WANT TO CHARGE ME A FEE FOR THIS SERVICE. THE ESTIMATE GIVEN TO TAKE CARE OF MY VEHICLE WAS $6,500.00. DID I FAIL TO MENTION THAT PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT WAS A SO CALLED "IMPACT". HONDA HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING TO MAKE RESTITUTION IN ANY WAY, CLOSED OUR FILE AND LEFT US TO TAKE CARE OF IT. REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FRO A HONDA PRODUCT. *TR
A FEMALE RAN A RED LIGHT SPEEDING AT 55 MPH IN A 30 MPH ZONE RIPPING OFF MY ENTIRE BUMPER PUTTING A DENT ON THE TOP OF MY HOOD ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND MY AIRBAG NEVER CAME OUT! BEFORE I SEEN ON THE NEWS ABOUT THE RECALLS, MY AIRBAG WARNING SIGNALS ALWAYS COME ON AND STAY ON FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME BEFORE THEY GO OFF AND THIS HAD HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES!
THERE HAS BEEN 2 RECALLS SINCE THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN ON RECALL LIST FOR MANY PROBLEMS THERE ARE A TOTAL OF 10 RECALLS ON THIS VIN WHICH QUALIFIES THIS CAR FOR A BUYBACK. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH AIR BAG FRONTAL , FUEL SYSYSTEM , VEHICLE SPEED EXCELARATOR AND ALSO TO INCLUDE FRAME DAMAGE. CAR WAS PURCHASED AT AN AUCTION PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENTS THAT ARE INCLUDED. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET DETAILED INFORMATION REGARDING THIS. THE CAR HAS BEEN REPORTED TO INSURANCE COMPANY AS FRAME DAMAGE AND IT WAS NOT REGISTERED UNDER THAT VEHICLE HAS A WEIRD NOISE CRACKLING SOUND LIKE IT'S THE AXEL. ALSO THE TIRES HAVE BEEN REPALCED 3 TIMES ALL AWAY AROUND. IGNITION AND SARTER HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE. PLEASE SEE THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN IN A TOTAL OF 5 ACCIDENTS WITH 4 BEING REPORTED AND ONE NOT FROM THE FRAME DMAGE. PLEASE HELP ME DEALER IS UNKNOWN AND NOT IN BUSINESS ANYMORE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V106000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
2006 HONDA CIVIC. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO COOLANT LEAKS COMING FROM ENGINE BLOCK AND TRANSMISSION. *SMD THE HONDA DEALER VERIFIED THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THE VIN WAS THE CORRECT YEAR TO BE COVERED. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED IT WOULD COST 5,000 OUT OF POCKET. *JB
WHILE MY FAMILY WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WEST TO CALIFORNIA, AT 65MPH, THE ENGINE POWER WAS COMPLETELY LOST. UPON PULLING OVER I OPENED THE HOOD AFTER ABOUT 3-5 MINUTES TO FIND COOLANT FLUID ALL OVER THE ENGINE. I ATTEMPTED TO START VEHICLE BUT IT ONLY TURNED OVER WITHOUT STARTING. WE TOWED IT TO SERVICE CENTER AT COLFAX, CA TO FIND OUT THE NEXT DAY THAT THE ENGINE HAS SEVERE INTERNAL DAMAGE FROM LEAKING COOLANT FLUID. THE SOURCE WAS NOT LOCATED YET WITH NO SIGNS OF RADIATOR DAMAGE. THE CAR HAS BEEN TOWED 90 MILES TO RENO, NV HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER EVALUATION. AFTER RESEARCHING POSSIBLE CAUSES, I DISCOVERED A SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB 10-048) THAT ADDRESSES AN ENGINE CRACK LEAKING COOLANT AND CAUSING ENGINE OVERHEATING. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT MY HONDA IS NOT COVERED ACCORDING TO VIN INQUIRY AND AWAITING AN APPOINTMENT TO LOOK INTO CAUSE. THE ENGINE DASHBOARD GAUGES NEVER INDICATED ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY TO WARN OCCUPANTS OF PENDING CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. *TR
THE PAINT IS WEARING OFF THE ROOF AND THE TRUNK. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AND IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH HONDA'S. THEY ONLY OFFERED TO PAY 15% OF A BILL OF AT LEAST $1350.
THE AIR BAGS IN MY VEHICLE DID NOT DEPLOY IN A FRONT AND BACK END COLLISION THAT I WAS INVOLVED IN. IT CAUSED ME TO FLY FORWARD AND INJURE MYSELF, HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL IN MY CHEST AND ABDOMEN. MY CAR WAS AT HALT AT A TRAFFIC RED LIGHT AND A RAM 1500 VAN WHOSE BRAKES FAILED TO APPLY BUMPED INTO MY CAR FROM BEHIND, WHICH CAUSED MY CAR TO ALSO COLLIDE WITH THE CAR IN FRONT. THIS CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGE TO MY CAR, BOTH IN FRONT AND BACK AND THE AIR BAG SIGNS WENT ON AND THE SEAT BELT RETRACTED BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT GET DEPLOYED INSPITE OF SUCH SEVERE IMPACT. *TR

WHY DIDN'T THEY NOTICE PROBLEM BEFORE MARCH 12TH? HONDA SERVICE GAVE ME A PRICE OF PARTS AND LABOR. IT'S $255 ON PARTS (CONTROL ARMS) AND $150 LABOR. UPDATED 12/21/2015*JS

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE DEFROST STOPPED WORKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THERE IS A MALFUNCTION IN THE AIR BAG SENSOR THAT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME COULD CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY AT ANYTIME OR EVEN NOT GO OFF DURING AN ACCIDENT. BUT APPARENTLY THE REPAIR IS NOT COVERED.
I RECENTLY HAD MY AIR BAG LIGHT COME ON. CAR WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER PAID 115.00 FOR A SRS DIAGNOSTIC. THEY SAID THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND WAS NOT RECEIVING ANY SIGNAL. THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE PASSENGER OUTER AND INNER WEIGHT SENSOR AT A WHOPPING COST OF NEARLY 900.00 THIS MANUFACTURING SAFETY FAILURE IS APPARENTLY NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY COVERED MY FAILING PAINT JOB ONE YEAR AGO BUT FAIL TO COVER A SAFETY ISSUE THAT IF IN AN ACCIDENT WILL NOT DEPLOY MY PASSENGERS AIRBAG AND ALSO WONT LOCK THE SEAT BELT PUTTING ANYBODY IN THAT SEAT AT GRAVE DANGER. SINCE THE SENSOR IS FAULTY AND DOES NOT DETECT ANYONE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. OTHER CIVIC OWNERS SEEM TO BE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. HOW CAN ONE GET THE DEALER TO OWN UP TO ITS PRODUCT AND REPLACE ITS FAULTY SAFETY EQUIPMENT IN THEIR VEHICLES. SMH *TR
HOLE IN THE CONDENSER CAUSED BY SMALL PEBBLE PUNCTURING IT. THERE IS LITTLE PROTECTION IN THE GRILL OF THE CAR WHICH EASILY ALLOWS SUCH ROAD DEBRIS TO DAMAGE THE CONDENSER. THIS IS A FLAW IN THE DESIGN ON THE CAR THAT SHOULD BE FIXED OR AT LEAST PUT UNDER WARRANTY.
THE SERPENTINE BELT TENSIONER BOLT SNAPPED CAUSING THE BELT TO SLIP ONTO THE WATER PUMP PULLEY. THE BOLT HAD TO BE DRILLED OUT AND THE WATER PUMP PULLEY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS A TSB OUT ON THIS BOLT BUT I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE I BELIEVE IT IS A MANUFACTURE PROBLEM. IT COST ME $1,100.91 TO HAVE IT FIXED. *TR

THE CABLE REEL ASSEMBLY IS THE COMPONENT THAT MAKES THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION BETWEEN THE FUNCTION BUTTONS AND AIR BAG ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE NON-ROTATING STEERING COLUMN. IT TOOK ME 4 YEARS AND 2 WORN OUT $130 MICHELIN TIRES EACH TO FIND THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND FROM MY BROTHER. THE HONDA DEALER SHOULD HAVE INFORMED ME ABOUT HONDA BAD DESIGN REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS EARLIER AND I COULD HAVE SAVED MYSELF 2 NEW TIRES AND LOTS OF HEADACHE. BUT I HAD IT FIXED AT LOCAL SHOP IN BOSSIER CITY ALIGNMENT SHOP FOR $560. NO MORE NOISE AND CAR RIDES LIKE NEW AND TIRES SIT STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW NOT COCKED OUT LIKE THEY DID.
DAMAGED AND FAULTY ENGINE MOUNTS CAUSE EXCESSIVE RATTLING TO MOTOR/CAR. APPEARS THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUES WHICH CAN LEAD TO FURTHER ISSUES. *TR
FUEL PUMPS ARE LEAKING FROM THE TOP OF PUMP HOUSING AND ARE FILLING UP THE CUBBY HOLE THAT THEY SIT IN, WITH GAS. THIS PUMP HAS A ACCESS HOLE UNDER THE REAR SEAT AND FUMES CAN BE SMELLED INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE CARS, WITH SOME LEAKING ON THE GROUND. IT ALSO IS KNOW TO BE ON SOME ODYSSEY AS WELL. IF PARKED IN THE GARAGE OVERNIGHT THE FUMES COULD FILL THE AREA AND BE IGNITED BY A WATER HEATER OR SOME OTHER SOURCE. I HAVE REPLACED MANY OF THESE PUMPS OVER THE YEARS AND HONDA DEALERS ARE DOING THE SAME WITH NO CONCERN THAT THEY ARE A DEFECT AND COULD CAUSE A POTENTIAL SAFETY RISK. *TR

THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IN MY 2006 HONDA CIVIC EX HAS BEEN ILLUMINATING INTERMITTENTLY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. IT STARTED BY ILLUMINATING PERHAPS 5% OF THE TIMES I WAS DRIVING, BUT NOW IT ILLUMINATES PERHAPS 50% OF THE TIME. I HAVE BEEN IN NO ACCIDENTS. AFTER A MORE WORK HONDA REPORTED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT AIRBAG NEEDED REPLACEMENT. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT A PASSIVE ELEMENT LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT FAIL AFTER ONLY 8 TO 9 YEARS. ISN'T THIS A DEFECT?
TRUNK LATCH SUDDENLY FAILED. THERE IS NO KEYHOLE ON THE EXTERIOR TRUNK, AND THE FOB AND INTERIOR SWITCH CAN'T OPEN IT. THE SEAT RELEASES ARE ALSO IN THE TRUNK, SO THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT GOING TO THE DEALER, AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE FOR THE REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE MULTIPLE PAGES OF COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB ABOUT THE PROBLEM THAT DATE BACK TO 2008. I WAS ON HWY 18 JUST BEFORE LAKE ARROWHEAD, CA WHEN I LOST THE POWER STEERING AND ALMOST WENT OFF THE CLIFF. UPON INSPECTION, I FOUND THAT THE BELT TENSIONER BRACKET'S PIVOT BOLT HAD SHEERED OFF THE ENGINE BLOCK CAUSING THE BELT TENSIONER TO COME LOOSE. THIS, IN TURN CAUSED LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THERE WAS A TSB (09-007) ISSUED BY HONDA FOR A LIMITED NUMBER OF VIN NUMBERS. THIS TSB CALLED FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE PIVOT BOLT AND THE DRIVE BELT. THE TSB EXPIRED ON JANUARY 30, 2012, HOWEVER, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE AND HONDA SHOULD RECALL ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES TO CORRECT THE DEFECT. I ALSO CONTACTED A SMALL LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND INQUIRED ABOUT THE NUMBER OF THIS PIVOT BOLTS THEY HAVE SOLD IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THIS DEALERSHIP ALONE SOLD OVER TEN BOLTS. IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION BEFORE INJURIES OCCUR OR WORSE, LIVES ARE LOST. *TR
