UPON REPLACING REAR ROTOR'S AND BRAKES I DISCOVERED THAT THE MOUNTING POINT FOR THE REAR TRAILING ARM WAS RUSTED OUT AND NOT REPLACEABLE. UPON INVESTIGATION THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL, AND CURRENTLY HAS A RECALL WITH HONDA CANADA, BUT NOT IN THE US. THE CAR HAS BEEN MAKEING NOISES WHILE IN MOTION AND BREAKING SO I ASSUMED IT WAS RUST BUILD UP ON MY CALIPER MOUNT BRACKET. SADLY ITS A POOR DESIGN THAT HONDA WONT ADMIT THAT NORTHERN STATES THAT USE SALT THIS IS A KEY POINT ISSUE. IVE BEEN DRIVING MY DAUGHTER AROUND IN THIS.
THE VEHICLE HAS DEVELOPED A COOLANT LEAK DUE TO A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. THIS VEHICLE CAN NO LONGER BE DRIVEN AND WHILE IT IS IN OTHERWISE EXCELLENT CONDITION, REPAIRS ARE ECONOMICALLY UNFEASIBLE. THIS IS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC EX WITH THE R18 ENGINE. IT HAS A CLEAN TITLE AND I AM THE FIRST AND ONLY OWNER. THERE HAVE BEEN A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF SIMILAR FAILURES IN THE 2007, 2008 AND 2009 MODEL YEAR HONDA CIVICS WITH THIS ENGINE DUE TO BAD METALLURGY AND WEAK CASTING DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. HONDA KNOWS THAT THESE ARE DEFECTIVE ENGINES AS THEY CREATED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10-048 IN RESPONSE TO THESE FAILURES. THEY DID NOT HOWEVER ISSUE A RECALL. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE THIS FAILURE COULD OCCUR IN HIGHWAY DRIVING CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT AND SEIZE AND THE DRIVER COULD THEREFORE POTENTIALLY BE UNABLE TO LEAVE THE ACTIVE TRAFFIC LANES. REGARDLESS, EVEN IF THE DRIVER COULD MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER, THAT IS NOT A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION JUST AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY. THERE ARE MANY EXAMPLES OF SIMILAR FAILURES ON VARIOUS OWNER GROUP WEBSITES.
UNFORTUNATELY IT IS THE SECOND TIME IT BRAKES THE ENGINE MOUNTS. I HAVE HEARD THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. I THINK IT IS A FACTORY PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WHEN I NOTICED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE RISE QUICKLY PAST IT'S NORMAL RANGE. I QUICKLY GOT OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE SHOP AND THE MECHANIC FOUND THAT THERE WAS NO FLUID IN THE RADIATOR. HE DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A SMALL CRACK. HE INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH 2007 CIVICS. HE TOLD ME I COULD PUT ANOTHER MOTOR IN IT OR BUY ANOTHER CAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND I HAD EVERY INTENTION TO KEEP IT FOR SEVERAL MORE YEARS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT HONDA DID NOT INFORM ME OF THE DEFECTS IN THE ENGINE.
44,000 MILES ON VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED AT HONDA DEALER THAT ENGINE BLOCK IS CRACKED! MANUFACTURERS DEFECT WITH UNPUBLICIZED SAFETY BULLETIN 10-048 WILL NOT REPAIR.
AS MANY OF THE OTHER PEOPLE, I HAVE A LEAKING COOLANT CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK DUE TO POOR CASTING, THUS RESULTING IN THE CAR TO DANGEROUSLY OVERHEAT. I HAVE VISITED A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED IT IS A FAULTY PROBLEM AMONG MANY CIVICS MANUFACTURED THAT GENERATION. THE PROBLEM OTHERS AND I ENCOUNTER IS THE FACT THAT THE CAR EXCEEDS THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY. TO MAKE THE DILEMA WORSE, THE HONDA MANUFACTURING COMPANY DOES GUARANTEE FULL RECOMPENSATION. THEY SUGGEST FOR ONE TO GO IN FOR $100 + INSPECTION THAT DOES NOT COMPLETELY GUARANTEE AID. THE PROBLEMS I ENCOUNTER INCLUDE: AN ONGOING LEAK OF DANGEROUS COOLANT LIQUIDS WHILE DRIVING/PARKED, EXCESSIVE OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING, AND THE TEAR DOWN OF PARTS(COILS, CYLINDERS, AND SPARK PLUGS) DUE TO UNSTABLE/WORRISOME HIGH TEMPERATURES. I HAVE OVERLOOKED MANY FORUMS AND THREADS OF UNHAPPY HONDA DRIVERS THAT ARE ENCOUNTERING THE SAME PROBLEM AS I HAVE. THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FOUND HERE HAVE INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY IN RECENT DAYS. I PLEAD/BEG FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE! MANY OF THE PEOPLE ENCOUNTERING THIS PROBLEM ARE OF LOW INCOME, FEW OF WHICH CANNOT AFFORD REPAIR COSTS AND/OR PURCHASING A NEW VEHICLE; WE PURCHASE THESE TYPE OF CARS FOR THEIR SO-CALLED RELIABILITY. IN MY CASE, I AM A UNIVERSITY STUDENT WHO VITALLY NEEDS A SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. ONE MAY ARGUE THAT PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IS THE SOLUTION, BUT THAT LIMITS MY POSSIBILITY FRONTIER AS I ALSO HAVE TO WORK; PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION COSTS TIME ONE COULD BE USING ELSEWHERE. TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS THAT THIS DEFECT IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS TO THE PUBLIC. THERE IS HIGH CORRELATION BETWEEN ENGINE OVERHEATING AND ACCIDENTS THAT ARE WORRISOME.
WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IT HAD A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. IT WAS FIXD, BUT YESTERDAY THE CAR DIED ON FREEWAY AND TEMP GUAGE SHOT UP. AFTER LOOKING AT OIL DIPSTICK, IT WAS COMPLETELY GONE. IT MELTED. I HAD AN OIL CHANGE ON THE 14TH. COULD THEY HAVE FORGOT TO PUT NEW OIL IN? WHAT WOULD CAUSE MY CAR TO JUST DIE?
I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND I NOTICED COOLANT LEAKAGE RESULTING IN ENGINE OVERHEATING.
THE CAR OVERHEATED SUDDENLY. THE ENGINE BLOCK HAS A CRACK. 134K MILES. WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE. PERFECTLY GOOD ENGINE CRACKED.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY THE CAR STARTED FUMING WITH WHITE SMOKE AND IT GOT INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE CAR AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS AT 100% ALL OF A SUDDEN AND HAD TO PULL THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER. IT IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND HONDA HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10-048. BUT I WAS NEVER MAILED ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WHEN CONTACTED HONDA MENTIONED THEY DO NOT HAVE TO UPDATE ME EVEN THOUGH IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. HONDA REPRESENTATIVE HAS BEEN REALLY RUDE AND DID NOT REPLY OR RAKE MY CALL FOR MORE THAN 10 DAYS TO REPLY ABOUT MY CASE. INSTEAD WHEN SHE CALLED SHE MENTIONED THAT ITS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND THEY WILL NOT COVER IT.
CAR BEGAN LEAKING ANTIFREEZE FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK. HONDA ADMITS THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR AS WELL AS OTHERS BUT REFUSES TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. I HAVE APPEALED WITH AMERICAN HONDA TO NO AVAIL. THEY DO NOT CARE BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUTSIDE OF ITS WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THEY WILL ADMIT THAT THE ENGINE IS A DEFECT BY HONDA. CAR WAS PARKED AT THE TIME, HAS NO DAMAGES, AND HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED.
CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK, RANDOM OVERHEATING, MAJOR COOLANT LOSS, EMERGENCY PULLOVER

THE ENGINE BLOCKS HAS A CRACKED,THE ANTIFREEZE IS LEAKING.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC ON 8/17/19 WHEN I NOTICED MY VEHICLE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASING AT A FAST RATE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND FOUND OUT THAT MY CAR DIDN'T HAVE ANY COOLANT. THINKING THAT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM, COOLANT WAS FILLED IN THE RADIATOR AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME. HOWEVER, LESS THAN A WEEK LATER, THE CAR BEGAN TO OVERHEAT ONCE AGAIN. AFTER INSPECTION, MY CAR WAS OUT OF COOLANT AGAIN. I TOOK MY CAR TO ED NAPLETON HONDA IN OAK LAWN ON 8/26/19 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE CYLINDER BLOCK WAS CRACKED AND WAS CAUSING A LEAK OF THE COOLANT WHICH CAUSES OVERHEATING IN VEHICLES. ALTHOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN HONDA CIVIC MODELS 2006-2009, I WAS TOLD THAT HONDA ISSUED TWO WARRANTY EXTENSIONS FOR UP TO 10 YEARS AND THAT MY CAR WAS TWO YEARS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY. BECAUSE I'M THE ORIGINAL AND SOLE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE WITH GREAT MAINTENANCE HISTORY, THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE MANAGER SUBMITTED A GOODWILL REQUEST TO HONDA CORPORATE ASKING FOR THE COST OF REPAIR TO BE COVERED. HOWEVER, THE REQUEST WAS DENIED BY THE REGIONAL HONDA DISTRICT PARTS AND SERVICE MANAGER. I ESCALATED THE SITUATION TO HONDA CORPORATE AND FOUND OUT FROM A CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST THAT HONDA DID NOT SEND THE LETTER INFORMING ME OF THE DEFECT AND WARRANTY EXTENSION TO MY CORRECT ADDRESS. FURTHERMORE, IT WAS NOT AN ADDRESS THAT I HAD EVER PROVIDED TO HONDA. AFTER ESCALATING MY ISSUE TO THE REGIONAL CASE MANAGER, I WAS STILL REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE. THERE ARE OVER 300 COMPLAINTS ABOUT CRACKED ENGINE BLOCKS IN 06-09 HONDA CIVICS ON THE CAR COMPLAINTS WEBSITE ALONE. MANY OWNERS STATE THAT THEIR VEHICLES BEGAN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS SHORTLY AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRATION. THIS QUESTIONS HONDA'S KNOWLEDGE OF THE LONGEVITY OF THE ENGINE BLOCK AND ALL PARTS INVOLVED. I APPEAL TO NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THIS ONGOING MATTER AND HOLD HONDA ACCOUNTABLE BY ENFORCING A RECALL.
WHEN DRIVING ON A CITY STREET CAR LOST POWER AND WON'T GO AT MORE THAN 20 ML/HR AND WAS OVERHEATING ,HAVE IT CHECKED AND FOUND A CRACK ON ENGINE BLOCK,
I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY BUSY ROAD, THE VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING WHILE I WAS INSIDE, IT WAS SO SCARY. I'M LUCKY THAT I'M ALIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY HONDA WITH A CRACKED ENGINE. HONDA WAS FULLY AWARE OF THE ENGINE BLOCK LEAK ISSUE BACK IN 2013. INSTEAD OF OFFERING A TOTAL RECALL TO FIX THE ISSUE FOR ALL THE RUNNING CIVICS, THEY SIMPLY OFFERED A 10 YEAR WARRANTY, IN CASE THE PROBLEM SURFACES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND AUTHORITIES SHOULD INVESTIGATE HOW HONDA IS HANDLING THESE COMPLAINTS. THEY REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND STAND BY THEIR CUSTOMERS.
MY CAR OVERHEATED. IT ONLY HAS 97000 MILES ON IT. GUESSING IT'S A ENGINE BLOCK ISSUE, CAUSE MECHANIC CAN NOT FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE AND IT KEEPS OVERHEATING,EVEN THOUGH EVERYTHING ELSE IS OK
REAR TIRES ARE WEARING DOWN FASTER THAN THE FRONT, YET IT'S FRONT WHEEL DRIVE.
THE PASSENGER VISOR WILL NOT GO BACK UP AND HANGS DOWN WHICH COULD HAVE AN EFFECT IF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYS, THE VISOR MIGHT SNAP IF IT IS FORCED BACK UP AND VISIBILITY COULD BE A PROBLEM IF THE SUN COMES IN THAT WAY. I HAVE MAJOR CONCERNS FOR DEPLOYMENT OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THE VISOR IS STATIONARY AND IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON CITY STREETS AS WELL AS TURNING ON ALL ROADS

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
AFTER THE RECALL,MY SIDE AIR BAG HAS PROBLEM AND NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON AND DEALER CHECKING. I WONDER IF THIS IS DUE TO THE AIR BAG QUALITY ISSUES.

NHTSA RECALL # 16V346 WAS ISSUED ON JULY 20, 2016 TO REPLACE FAULTY AIRBAGS THAT SPLIT ON IMPACT. THIS NOTICE ONLY REPLACED THE PASSAGE SIDE AIR BAG. I ASSUMED THE DRIVERS SIDE WOULD BE REPLACED AT A LATER DATE BUT AS YET HAVEN'T RECEIVED A NOTICE. ACCORDING TO THE HONDA AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALL CENTER, MAILED NOTIFICATION TO REPLACE THE DRIVERS AIRBAG WILL BEGIN IN APRIL 2019, BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN, 90 YRS OLD AND STILL DRIVING INDEPENDENTLY. AN IMPACT WITH A FAULTY AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WOULD BE DEVASTATING AND POSSIBLY FATAL. THIS IS MY FORMAL CLAIM TO HAVE MY DRIVERS AIRBAG REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AND PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED A TRAIL OF LIQUID EMERGING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THERE WAS A PUDDLE UNDER THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED AND THE ENGINE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
2007 HONDA CIVIC COUPE- CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK I FOUND OUT I HAD A LEAK SO I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM. UPON THEIR FINDINGS, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY ENGINE BLOCK. WHICH AT THAT TIME THEY EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY FOR CRACKED ENGINE BLOCKS IN WHICH, HONDA HAD EXTENDED IT TO 10 YEARS. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT HAD I BEEN THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE TO HAVE IT REPLACED. SADLY I'M THE SECOND OWNER AND WAS UNAWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES, ALONG WITH BEING OUT OF WARRANTY BY 3 YEARS. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FROM A DEALER LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AGO, FOR $6,000 WHICH I ALSO PAID HONDA $1416 TO HAVE THE NECESSARY UPDATES DONE ON IT, BECAUSE IT ONLY HAD 102,000 MILES BEING A 2007. WHICH SHOULD SAY THAT I'M VERY RESPONSIBLE IN TAKING CARE OF NEEDS. WELL, ITS NOW AT 104,000 MILES AND THE ENGINE BLOCK IS CRACKED IN WHICH MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR GOING ON NOW A WEEK, WAITING ON SOMEONE TO GET BACK WITH ME TO TELL ME IF THEY CAN HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM THAT WAS CLEARLY NOT MY FAULT BUT, A MANUFACTURED FAULT. I'VE SEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE AND CAN ONLY PRAY THAT I'M NOT JUST ANOTHER COMPLAINT THAT GETS LOOKED OVER. I WAS QUOTED BY THE DEALERSHIP THE COST WOULD BE $4800 IN WHICH ON A FIXED INCOME CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY THAT AMOUNT. AS OF THIS DATE MY CAR IS STILL AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AS I AM WITHOUT EVEN A LOANER CAR UNTIL THEY WORK OUT THE DETAILS OF THIS. YOU'D THINK BEING ONE OF THE TOP CAR COMPANIES THIS WOULD NOT BE SO DAUNTING AND DRAWN OUT. WHY PUT A EXPIRATION ON SOMETHING THAT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR YET SOMEONE'S LIFE AND WHEN IT'S BROUGHT TO ATTENTION THE CUSTOMER IS LEFT WITH THE WORST CASE SCENARIO? DRIVING TO WORK ON EXPRESSWAY WHEN ENGINE BEGAN BUCKING AND LOSING POWER. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET OFF ROAD AND GET TO A SERVICE CENTER WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED A LATERAL CRACK IN THE BLOCK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CROWN HONDA GREENSBORO (3633 W WENDOVER AVE, GREENSBORO, NC 27407, (336) 790-9855) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOTOR BLOCK NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
FAULTY A/C COMPRESSOR LOCKS UP THE DRIVE BELT CAUSING THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY TO STOP ROTATING WHICH RESULTS IN THE ENGINE AND ALL ACCESSORIES (POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, ETC.) TO TURN OFF RANDOMLY IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS AFTER THE ENGINE IS TURNED-ON AND HAS OCCURRED CONSISTENTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN FOR A FEW MINUTES AND WHEN IT IS AT IDLE FOR A FEW MINUTES. NO WARNINGS OR ENGINE FAULT CODES FOUND ON ECU, THIS MECHANICAL FAILURE WILL CAUSE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL TO LOCK-UP, THE POWER BRAKES TO NO LONGER FUNCTION CORRECTLY AND PUTS THE DRIVER AND EVERYONE AROUND AT A SERIOUS RISK OF INJURY AND DEATH.

ENGINE BLOCK HAS DEVELOPED A CRACK THAT IS LEAKING RADIATOR COOLANT AND CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE ENGINE BEING DAMAGED AND VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING.
CRACKED ENGINE FLUID CAME OUT CAUSES DAMAGED TO OTHER PARTS AND OVER HEAT DUE TO ENGINE CRACK DAMAGED WATER PUMPS RADIATOR
HONDA CIVIC CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. HONDA HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS ISSUE FOR MANY YEARS. THEY HAVE NEVER ISSUED A RECALL, ONLY A SERVICE BULLETIN. MANY HONDA CUSTOMERS ARE EXPERIENCING THEIR MOTORS OVERHEATING DUE TO A FAULTY ENGINE AND CRACKING OCCURRING. THE ENGINE IS DEFECTIVE. MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC STARTED OVERHEATING IN 2018. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TO MONITOR THE COOLANT LEVEL BECAUSE IT KEEPS DECREASING AND I HAVE TO ADD MORE COOLANT. I HAVE COME TO CLOSE TO THE CAR OVERHEATING WHILE DRIVING IT WHEN I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OFF THE ROAD TO ADD MORE FLUID. IT WAS DIAGNOSED YESTERDAY 1/25/19 BY A HONDA DEALER WITH A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. HONDA CORPORATE IS NOT GOING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BECAUSE THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. SEE HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 10-48. THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY ISSUED FOR THOSE OWNERS WHO EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM WITHIN THAT 10 YEAR PERIOD OF TIME. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. HONDA NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DEFECT THAT THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED BUT ARE ONLY FIXING IT IF IT HAPPENS WITHIN A 10 YEAR PERIOD REGARDLESS IF THE MILES ARE LOW, AS IN MY VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE CAN RESULT IN A CAR FIRE FROM OVERHEATING, SO IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HONDA IS IGNORING BY NOT DECLARING A RECALL. THIS IS AN ENGINE DEFECT THAT HONDA HAS FULLY ACKNOWLEDGED. A RECALL MUST BE DECLARED SO THAT OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES ARE PROTECTED FROM A POTENTIAL CAR FIRE FROM THE ENGINE OVERHEATING.
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WITH THE HONDA CIVIC 07 WHEN IT STARTED TO OVERHEAT. LUCKILY HE WAS CLOSE TO THE HOUSE AND WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED OVER OUR OWN MECHANIC TO INSPECT. HE STATED THE ENGINE BLOCK IS CRACKED AND ITS LEAKING. HE ADVISED US TO GO TO DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR THIS. NEXT MORNING WE BROUGHT IT TO DEALERSHIP OPEN ROAD HONDA EDISON NJ AND SAID THEY WILL DO A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT TO DETERMINE IF IS A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. AND IT WAS. WARRANTY EXTENSION 10-048 STATES HONDA IS ONLY GOING TO PAY THE REPAIR IF IT IS WITHIN 10 YEARS FORM ORIGINAL PURCHASE. WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED 4/2017. ALMOST 3 YEARS OUT OF WARRANTY. I TOLD THEM THIS CAR IS SERVICED AT HONDA DEALERSHIP AND I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY NOTIFICATION FROM HONDA ABOUT THIS 10 YEAR EXTENSION WARRANTY. THEY WANTED ME TO PAY 5K FOR REPAIR. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND NO AMOUNT OF MAINTENANCE IS GOING TO AVOID THIS. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND GAVE ME A CASE #. INITIALLY THEY SAID 10% THAT WENT TO 15% AND FINALLY 20% IS THE ONLY PERCENTAGE THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR. IT LEAVES ME WITH $3900 TO PAY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. HONDA IS PROTECTING ITSELF FROM PAYING WHEN THEY SHOULD BE AT LEAST EXTENDED THE WARRANTY WITH SPECIFICS FOR OWNERS WHO ARE OUT OF WARRANTY AND UNFORTUNATELY THEIR ENGINE BLOCK BROKE. I

THE BULLETIN # WAS 10 048 TSB. CAR IS OVER THE AGE CUTOFF FOR THE FREE NEW ENGINE FROM HINDA. SO I AM STUCK WITH AN UNSAFE BROKEN CAR FROM THE COMPANIES DEFECT PER HONDA CORP. REPRESENTATIVES.
THE VEHICLE UNPREDICTABLY LEAKED COOLANT AND THE ENGINE BLOCK IS NOW CRACKED. THE CAR IS USELESS. HAD TO TOW IT 100 MILES ONLY TO BE TOLD BY HONDA THAT THIS IS MY PROBLEM. IT IS NOW OUT OF THE 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL WHICH IS WHY HONDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN OUTRIGHT RECALL - THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT DESPITE THEIR FAULTY MANUFACTURING.
AT 110,000 MILES, MY CAR DEVELOPED A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. I WAS PARKED AND NOTICED COOLANT LEAKING FROM MY CAR. MY CAR WAS TOWED BY AAA TO KEYES HONDA AND DIAGNOSED. IT WAS FOUND THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THIS MAJOR DEFECT AND DID NOT INFORM CONSUMERS. INSTEAD, THEY QUIETLY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BY ONE YEAR INSTEAD OF ISSUING A RECALL. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, IT WAS FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. THE REPAIR COST IS $5-6000. AMERICAN HONDA WILL ONLY PAY A VERY SMALL PORTION, LEAVING THE BULK OF THE COST TO THE CONSUMER.

WE HAD THE FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT STARTED TO SMOKING HEAVILY, WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING EXTREME VISIBILITY PROBLEMS AS WELL AS A HORRIBLE SMELL. THIS ALSO CAUSED OTHER VEHICLES AROUND US TO REACT. WE WERE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AT THE TIME. TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP THE VERY NEXT MORNING, AND BY LATE AFTERNOON, WERE TOLD IT HAS A CRACKED AND LEAKING ENGINE BLOCK. THERE HAS BEEN A VERY CLEAR AND NOTED PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE'S ENGINE BLOCK AND, HAD THIS HAPPENED A FEW MONTHS AGO, THEY WOULD HAVE REPLACED IT AT NO CHARGE TO US AS LOYAL CUSTOMERS. WE ARE WITHOUT A SAFE VEHICLE, WHILE HONDA HAS HAD MANY MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS OF CIVICS FROM THESE YEARS. OURS ONLY HAS 72,000 MILES, IS MAINTAINED PROPERLY AND ALWAYS AT A HONDA DEALERSHIP. IT IS A COMMUTER ONLY VEHICLE, FOR THE MOST PART. PLEASE HELP US, AS WELL AS ALL THESE OTHER OWNERS I HAVE RESEARCHED, WHO ARE ALSO SUFFERING THE CONSEQUENCES OF HONDA NOT DOING THE PROPER THING WITH THEIR ENGINE BLOCK ISSUES! WE ALL LOOK TO YOU FOR SUPPORT AND TO MAKE SURE MANUFACTURERS ARE HELD TO THE STANDARD IN WHICH YOU SET FOR THEM. THEY WANT TO CHARGE US THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR A VEHICLE THAT HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM DOCUMENTED. NOTHING LIKE HAVING A VETERAN'S CAR SMOKE OUT IN TRAFFIC ON ACTUAL VETERAN'S DAY.
