UNEVEN TIRE WEAR CAUSED BY REAR SUSPENSION PROBLEMS. I AM NOW ON MY 4TH SET OF TIRES FOR MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC LX SEDAN WITH 58,000 MILES. EACH TIME I HAVE REPLACED THE TIRES, I THOUGHT THE WEAR WAS TIRE RELATED. 6-11-08, I LEARNED FROM THE HONDA DEALER, THE PROBLEMS WAS BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE REAR SUSPENSION. HONDA (THE MFG.) HAS DECLINED TO ASSIST WITH THE PAYMENT FOR ANY OF THE TIRES. SOMEONE IS GOING TO HAVE A BAD ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND POSSIBLY SEVERE INJURIES. *TR
ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11, 2008 I WAS DRIVING FROM MAR VISTA, CA TO SAN LEANDRO, CA WITH MY 4 YEAR OLD SON AND 20 YEAR OLD SISTER IN LAW. WE WERE ON THE 580 W DRIVING IN THE FAR LEFT LANE AT 65MPH AT 11:30 AM WHEN WE HEARD AN EXPLOSION IN THE REAR OF THE CAR. THE CAR BEGAN VEERING TOWARD THE RIGHT. I TRIED TO PULL OVER INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE, BUT THE CAR KEEP VEERING TOWARD THE RIGHT AND WE HIT THE CENTER DIVIDE. THE CAR WAS PERPENDICULAR TO THE DIVIDE. WE WERE IN DUBLIN, CA NEAR THE TASSAJARA RD. EXIT. WHEN WE INSPECTED THE CAR, THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WAS BLOWN THROUGH. THE SIDE WALLS WERE INTACT, BUT THE WHOLE TREAD OF THE TIRE WAS NOT CONNECTED TO THE SIDE WALL. THIS ALSO CAUSED THE RIGHT REAR SPLASH GUARD TO DETACH FROM THE CAR AND THE REAR BUMPER WAS SLIGHTLY DETACHED. MY CAR IS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC COUPE EX AND IT HAD ABOUT 8300 MILES. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN JULY 2007. THE CRASH CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE FRONT LEFT SIDE OF MY CAR. THE CAR IS NOW AT A BODY SHOP AND IS BEING REPAIRED IN SAN LEANDRO, CA. AFTER DOING MORE RESEARCH I FOUND THAT HONDA HAD ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT UNEVEN OR RAPID TIRE WEAR. TSB 08-001 ON FEBRUARY 8, 2008. I DID NOT RECEIVE NOTIFICATION OF THIS SERIOUS DEFECT BECAUSE HONDA IS NOT REQUIRED TO NOTIFY CONSUMERS REGARDING TSBS. THIS DEFECT IS SERIOUS AND AFFECTS NEARLY ALL 2006-2007 HONDA CIVICS. THIS TSB NEEDS TO BECOME A RECALL. ALL OWNERS OF 2006-2007 HONDA CIVICS NEED TO BE MADE AWARE OF THIS LIFE THREATENING DEFECT. I UNDERSTAND THAT TIRES SHOULD BE CHECKED REGULARLY, AND MANY CONSUMERS DO, HOWEVER, MY TIRES DID NOT GIVE ME ANY WARNING OF UNEVEN WEARING. ACTUALLY, IT WOULD BE HARD TO NOTICE SINCE MY 2007 CIVIC COUPE EX IS NOT QUITE ON THE ROAD AND YOU CAN FEEL ANY LITTLE BUMP IN THE ROAD. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NORMAL BECAUSE OF THE STIFF SUSPENSION. OVERALL, I SERIOUSLY HOPE THAT THIS IS ADDRESSED QUICKLY. MANY UNSUSPECTING DRIVERS, MANY OF WHOM HAVE DRIVEN HONDA'S IN THE PAST ARE NOT EXPECTING THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM WHICH CAN CAUSE TIRE BLOWOUTS AND POSSIBLE FATAL ACCIDENTS. IT WOULD BE UNFORTUNATE THAT A CLASS ACTION SUIT OR THE DEATH OF INNOCENT CONSUMERS PROMPT HONDA TO MAKE THIS TSB 08-001 NOTICE A RECALL NOTICE. *TR

I HAVE A 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI COUPE. THIS IS NOT MY FIRST MANUAL VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD TROUBLE SHIFTING INTO 3RD BUT DID NOT THINK ANYTHING OF IT. JUST FOUR DAYS AGO MY CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT AT ALL. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CLUTCH IN A YEAR OLD CAR WAS BURNED OUT. THEY CLAIM THAT IT WAS NOT A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT SO IN OTHER WORDS, IT IS MY FAULT. UPON DOING RESEARCH I SEE THAT MANY OTHERS ARE OR HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO LEARNED THAT THIS PAST APRIL HONDA ISSUED A RECALL ON VEHICLES HAVING 3RD GEAR PROBLEMS BUT HAVE NOT NOTIFIED ALL OWNERS OF THE MAKES AND MODELS COVERED IN THE RECALL. THE 3RD GEAR PROBLEM IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE CLUTCH BURNING OUT. I AM RECEIVING NO SATISFACTION FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND HONDA IS NOT OWNING UP TO ADMIT THAT INDEED THERE IS A DEFECT. *TR
PROBLEM: UNABLE TO SHIFT FROM PARK INTO DRIVE - CIVIC HYBRID 2007 RESEARCH SHOWS PROBLEM WAS KNOWN AND POSTED IN SEPTEMBER 2007 PURCHASED CAR NEW IN JANUARY 2008 W DEFECT AND WAS NOT INFORMED. THIS DEFECT WAS MODIFIED AND POSTED AGAIN AS A KNOWN ISSUE ON 3/18/08 BROUGHT CAR IN FOR SERVICE (OIL CHANGE) IN APRIL 2007. NO MENTION OF RECALL AND SINCE CAR WAS PURCHASED AFTER KNOWN PROBLEM, IT DID NOT OCCUR THAT THE CAR WOULD BE SOLD W/O ISSUE BEING FIXED. JUNE 8, 2008 - CAR LOCKS IN PARK SEVERAL TIMES. BREAK LIGHT COMES ON. I CHECK MANUAL THAT SAYS TO NOT DRIVE/HAVE CAR TOWED. I DRIVE DIRECTLY TO THE SAFEST LOCATION TO PARK AND CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK. I HAVE MISSED A SCHEDULED SEMINAR/DAY OF WORK. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THIS RECALL DURING PURCHASE AND SERVICE. SINCE THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE, WHY WAS THIS NOT FIXED PRIOR TO SALE? WHY WAS I NOT NOTIFIED? WHY WAS THIS NOT CAUGHT AT MY SERVICE? THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 6/8/08 - WAS CALLED ON 6/9/08 AND TOLD ABOUT THE RECALL AND THAT THE CAR WAS FIXED. I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE BRAKES AGAIN AS THEY SEEM TO HAVE AIR AND MAKE NOISE. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I SAID I WAS NOT EVEN INFORMED OF A RECALL AND THAT I HAVE ISSUES W THE BRAKES AND I WANT THEM CHECKED EVEN THOUGH THEY FIXED THE RECALL PROBLEM. IT WAS A LOT OF BACK AND FORTH AND THE CAR IS CURRENTLY WITH THE DEALER AND I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE MANAGER WHO ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE ISSUE SHOULD OF BEEN FIXED AT THE VERY LEAST, DURING THE MAINTENANCE CHECK. HE IS HAVING THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT CHECK THE BRAKES A SECOND TIME. *TR
3RD GEAR POPS OUT FOR NO REASON. HONDA WILL NOT FIX MY PROBLEM AS IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM WHEN WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICTAE THE PROBLEM. NOW THEY CLAIM IS TOO LATE FOR THEM TO FIX IT. I DID NOT FIND OUT ABOUT THE SERVICE BULLETING UNTIL RECENTLY. AFTER BEING A LOYAL CUSTOMER WITH MORE THAN 2 HONDA VEHICLES I WILL NEVER BUY A HONDA AGAIN ESPECIALLY WHEN THE US MANUFACTURERS ARE NOW MAKING RELIABLE AND GAS EFFICIENT CARS. *TR
DRIVER SIDE VISOR MECHANICAL FAULT. VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN THE UP POSITION DUE TO A BROKEN MECHANISM. CAUSING AN OBSTRUCTIVE VIEW. *TR
CONSUMER HAD ISSUES WITH THE SERVICE ON 2007 HONDA CIVIC AT THE DEALERSHIP. *NJ THE CONSUMER HEARD A ROTATING CHIMING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE REAR TIRES THAT HAD FLAT SPOTS DUE TO IMPROPER TIRE PRESSURE OR PANIC STOPS. THE CONSUMER WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER AND WAS TOLD A TSB HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THE REAR CONTROL ARMS. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE NOISE WOULD CONTINUE UNTIL THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. *JB
EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR ON MY 2007 HONDA HYBRID - PROBLEMS WITH THE REAR SUSPENSION CAUSING THE REAR TIRES TO WEAR OUT EXCESSIVELY FAST ON THE INNER PORTION OF THE TIRE LEADING TO UNUSUAL TIRE WEAR PATTERNS. *TR
IMA BATTERY DETERIORATION AND/OR IMA BATTERY DRAINING RESULTING IN LITTLE POWER/PICKUP. *TR
OWN A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. AFTER ABOUT ONE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP, THE CAR STARTED EXHIBITING TROUBLING CHARACTERISTICS WITH THE POWER MANAGEMENT AND AVAILABLE POWER. THE CAR RELIES ON A GAS ENGINE AND ELECTRIC ASSIST TO PROVIDE FULL POWER IN ALL DRIVING SITUATIONS. DURING THE SUMMER WHEN TEPERATURES RISE, THE CAR STARTS TO HAVE DIFFICULTY PROVIDING POWER FROM THE ELECTRIC MOTOR DUE TO THE BATTERY CRASHING TO 0. ONCE THE BATTERY "RECALIBRATES" THE CAR PROVIDES VERY LITTLE POWER USING ONLY THE GAS ENGINE. THIS BATTERY CRASH HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS AND MEANS IN THE REAL WORLD THAT WHEN I AM PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC I MAY HAVE VERY LITTLE POWER TO GET THE CAR UP TO SPEED AND RISK GETTING HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. TO SAY THE CAR BECOMES "SLUGGISH" IS AN OVERSTATEMENT. HONDA HAS BEEN UNWILLING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND IT APPEARS THAT THE AR HAS A MATERIAL DEFECT THAT PREVENTS THE BATTERIES FROM OPERATING AS INTENDED IN REAL WORLD SITUATIONS. WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS IN OPERATION THE BATTERY WILL CRASH EACH TIME YOU DRIVE THE CAR. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AND HONDA IS DOING NOTHING TO ADDRESS THE COMPLAINTS. *TR
2007 HONDA CIVIC WITH 20,000 MILES WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE ON THE HIGHWAY. SOUND WAS COMING FROM REAR OF CAR. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND RECOMMENDATION WAS MADE TO REPLACE REAR CONTROL ARMS. REPAIRS COULD NOT BE DONE ON A TIMELY MANNER BECAUSE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET PARTS FOR SEVERAL DAYS. PROBLEM HAS LIKELY RESULTED IN UNEVEN TIRE WARE, WHICH MAY CAUSE HANDLING DIFFICULTIES AND POSSIBLY A CRASH, BUT DEALER WANTED US TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. AFTER INSISTING, WE WERE GIVEN A LOANER CAR. *TR
SMALL VIBRATION HEARD IN THE REAR OF THE CAR. TOOK CAR IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, TOLD THEM OF SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF CAR. THEY INFORMED US THAT THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE CAR, ADVISING THEM TO REPLACE THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS AND TIRES. PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. REPORTED ON 5/22, TODAY IS 6/9, PART STILL NOT REPLACED. HONDA REFUSING TO REPLACE TIRES, EVEN THOUGH DEFECTIVE PART CAUSED REAR TIRE TO WARE UNEVENLY AND RAPIDLY. FEAR THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
AT 25 MILES PER HOUR, THE DRIVER CROSSED OVER TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND HIT ALMOST HEAD ON. THE IMPACT WAS SLIGHTLY GREATER ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVERS FRONT AIRBAG, THE DRIVER SEAT SIDE AIRBAG AND THE SIDE CURTAIN FOR BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE DEPLOYED. *TR
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE (TURNING RIGHT INTO IT AND PARKING BETWEEN CARS), WAS ALMOST AT A FULL STOP, ABOUT TO STRAIGHTEN THE WHEELS AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK, WHEN THE ENGINE ACCELERATED TO FULL SPEED. IT JUMPED THE LITTLE CURB AT THE FRONT OF THE PARKING SPACE AND WENT THROUGH A SHOP WINDOW AT AN ANGLE, WEDGING IN THE DOORWAY. IT LEFT ACCELERATION MARKS ON THE SIDEWALK AFTER JUMPING THE CURB, AND THE WHEELS WERE STILL SPINNING IN THE DOORWAY UNTIL I TURNED THE CAR OFF. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED, THEN TOWED TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, WHERE IT WAS TESTED, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. I NEVER DROVE IT AGAIN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V399000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK:WHEEL SPEED SENSOR). SHE IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRED. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS MADE, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. SHE CALLED THE DEALER, BUT THEY HAVE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 13,207.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP AT 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED. NORMALLY, THE ELECTRIC MOTOR FUNCTIONS AS A BRAKE WHENEVER THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO STOP; HOWEVER, THAT FUNCTION HAS BEEN FAILING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY MUST EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE THEMSELVES IN ORDER TO PROVIDE AN ACCURATE DIAGNOSIS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,800 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,800.
MY 2007 CIVIC HYBRID IS EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH THE IMA. AS I AM DRIVING, THE BATTERY CHARGE WILL BE REDUCED TO ZERO OR ONE BARS. I DRIVE WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND NORMALLY DO NOT EXCEED 55 MPH. THIS NORMALLY OCCURS WITHIN THE FIRST 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING MY CAR. IT IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN STARTING FROM A DEAD STOP. THE CAR ACCELERATES EXTREMELY SLUGGISHLY AND THE RPM'S REACH AROUND 4500 TO APPROACH THE SPEED LIMIT (50 MPH). GAS MILEAGE WHEN THIS OCCURS DROPS TO ABOUT 20-25 MPH. I HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS TO GET THIS REPAIRED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND HAS MADE MINIMAL ATTEMPTS TO TRY AND REPAIR THE CAR. THE ONLY REPAIR ATTEMPT MADE WAS TO RESET THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR. THIS HAS ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL ONGOING. THIS COULD BECOME A MUCH MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN OR WHEN TRYING TO MERGE. *TR
REAR TIRE WEAR TO THE BELTS. NO ADJUSTMENT OF CAMBER POSSIBLE. OWNER HAS NO WAY TO PREVENT THIS DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE WEAR. THESE VEHICLE SHOULD ALL BE RECALLED AND REAR CAMBER ADJUSTABLE COMPONENTS INSTALLED REGARDLESS OF VEHICLE MILES. I HAVE A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID WITH TIRE PROBLEMS. THE SUN VISORS IN MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC ARE DEFECTIVE. THE PLASTIC INSIDE THE VISOR WEAKENS AND BREAKS IN THE HEAT, AND THE VISOR NO LONGER STAYS IN PLACE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE A FEW MONTHS AGO, AND RECENTLY (WITHIN THE LAST FEW WEEKS) HAVE NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION 'SLIPPING' OR NOT ENGAGING PROPERLY. IF IT WERE A CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH (MECHANICAL) IT WOULD BE DESCRIBED AS NEEDING ADJUSTMENT TO LET THE ADJUSTMENT 'OUT' AS TO BETTER ENGAGE THE CLUTCH TO THE POWER SOURCE. SINCE IT IS A CVT, I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT AVAILABLE, AND REPLACEMENT IS NECESSARY. THE SLIPPING OF THIS TRANSMISSION WAS ALMOST A KILLER-AS WE (ALL OF THE TRAILING CARS) SPED UP TO PASS (ALL WITHIN APPROPRIATE SPEEDS, CLEARANCES, ETC). I HAD JUST STARTED TO ACCELERATE, WHEN THIS !@#$% SLIPPING BEGAN, AND I WATCHED AS THE TACH WENT TO ALMOST RED-LINE, BUT THE CAR DIDN'T GAIN ANY SPEED-IT STAYED AT ABOUT 35-36 MPH, WHICH WAS THE SPEED WE WERE GOING WHEN THE PASSING ATTEMPT STARTED. THIS WAS ALLEGEDLY A PROBLEM IN EARLIER YEAR MODELS OF THE SAME VEHICLE, BUT I AM NOT SURE IF THE CAUSE WAS THE SAME. IN ANY CASE, THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEVELOPMENT, AND I WANT IT FIXED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6000 MILES AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14000 MILES.

MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC (CURRENTLY 42,000 MILES) HAS A LOUD NOISE AND VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING. THE SOUND HAS BECOME WORSE AS THE MORE MILES I DRIVE. WHEN THE REAR TIRES ARE RUBBED ACROSS, FLAT SPOTS ON THE TIRES CAN BE FELT. HONDA WROTE A REPAIR FORUM STATING THAT THE CAUSE OF THIS IS THE IMPROPER DESIGN OF THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS. THESE ARMS ARE TOO SHORT CAUSING THE CAMBER OF THE WHEELS TO BE INCORRECT. I HAVE CALLED HONDA CORPORATION AT LEAST 4 TIMES AND HAVE CONTACTED OURISMAN HONDA OF LAUREL (WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE) AT LEAST 5 TIMES. NEITHER ONE HAS BEEN OF ANY HELP.
