DEFECTIVE SUNVISORS- FALL INTO LINE OF SIGHT. BROKE AT APPROX 40,000 MILES. FIRST THE DRIVER SIDE AND ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE. NO LONGER ABLE TO KEEP THEM OUT OF THE WAY. *TR
2007 HONDA CIVIC HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE TIRES HAVE UNEVEN WEAR CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE CONTROL ARMS. *NJ THE MANUFACTURER WAS WILLING TO REPLACE THE REAR CONTROL ARMS, BUT NOT THE TIRES. *JB
WE BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW FROM THE DEALER IN '07. WE HAVE BEEN PUTTING 3 TO 4 SETS OF TIRES ON THIS CAR PER YEAR, FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS, THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE....IT RUNS IN TO MONEY AND IS VERY UNSAFE IN THE WINTER TIME. WHILE CHECKING ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WE ALL FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. EVEN REPLACING THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, WE HAVE TRIED, AND SO HAVE OTHERS. THIS COMES FROM THE FACTORY. HONDA PRIDES THEMSELVES ON SAFETY...THIS IS NOT SAFE...THE CAR IS CONSTANTLY FIGHTING WITH ITSELF ON THE ROAD THEREFORE WEARING TIRES. PLEASE CONSIDER A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. 08 001 WAS A CODE I READ ON THE INTERNET, I'M NOT SURE WHAT THIS IS, BUT SUTHERLAND HONDA IN FREDERICTON, N.B. MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC EX STARTED TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THERE WAS AN INCREDIBLY LOUD "HOWLING" NOISE COMING FROM THE BACK TIRES. I TOOK IT IN REPEATEDLY AND WAS TOLD THAT MY TIRES WERE FINE, AND THAT ESSENTIALLY I WAS IMAGINING THIS PROBLEM AND OR BLOWING IT OUT OF PROPORTION. IT WAS ONLY RECENTLY THAT I LEARNED OF HONDA'S SERVICE BULLETIN 08-001 FOR UNEVEN AND OR RAPID TIRE WEAR. WITH INFORMATION IN HAND, I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO WHICH THEY ACTED LIKE THEY KNEW NOTHING OF THE BULLETIN. AFTER KEEPING MY CAR FOR THE DAY, THEY SAID IN THE FIRST CALL THAT IT WAS DUE TO LACK OF ROTATION (EVEN THOUGH) I ROTATE EVERY 10K ,THEN THEY CALL BACK AND SAY THAT MY BACK TWO TIRES ARE WORN-OUT; BUT THE WEAR IS NOT COMPARABLE TO THE WEAR THAT WOULD FALL UNDER THE BULLETIN. THEY THEN PROCEED TO TELL ME THAT IT IS TYPICAL TO HAVE TO REPLACE YOUR TIRES EVERY 30-40K MILES. I HAVE OWNED 7 HONDAS AND HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE TIRES THAT SOON. IT IS JUST AMAZING TO ME THAT I HAVE DETAILED EVERY SYMPTOM IN THAT BULLETIN, PRIOR TO EVEN KNOWING THAT IT EXISTED AND THEY ARE GOING TO TELL ME THAT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM. I AM TAKING IT TO ANOTHER HONDA DEALERSHIP AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. I AM SEVERELY DISAPPOINTED IN HONDA. *TR
THE VISOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE IN 2007 HONDA CIVIC LX MODEL IS MADE OF CHEAP PLASTIC AND CRACKS OPEN IF YOU HAPPEN TO PULL IT DOWN AND PUT IT BACK UP FREQUENTLY. ONCE IT CRACKS OPEN IT WILL NOT STAY UP AGAIN AND HANGS LOOSE DOWN OBSTRUCTING THE DRIVER'S VIEW. IT HANGS DOWN AND VERY ANNOYING WHILE DRIVING AS FRONT VIEW IS OBSTRUCTED BECAUSE OF LOOSE HANGING VISOR. MY CAR IS JUST ONE AND HALF YEAR OLD AND IT HAS ALREADY CRACKED OPEN TWICE. LAST TIME WHEN THE DEALER REPLACED IT SINCE IT IS UNDER WARRANTY IT CRACKED OPEN IN JUST COUPLE MONTHS. IF THIS PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED IT WILL BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD AS PEOPLE CAN NOT GO ON BUYING AND REPLACING THE VISOR EVERY MONTH AND IN THE ABSENCE MAY GET INVOLVED IN CAR ACCIDENTS DUE TO VISION GETTING BLOCKED WITH VISOR. *TR
AND REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT WAS SUBMITTED TO AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO., INC. I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AS STATED ON THE CARD I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL FROM HONDA, AND SUBMITTED THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION. THE REQUIREMENTS WERE: COMPLETE THE ATTACHED REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT FORM ATTACH A COPY OF THE REPAIR RECEIPT OR INVOICE FOR THE REPAIR ATTACH PROOF OF PAYMENT MAIL TO AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.,INC. HONDA IS NOW ASKING FOR THE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE ENGINE BLOCK BEFORE THEY WILL HONOR THE REIMBURSEMENT. THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT DOES NOT STATE THAT THE SERIAL NUMBER IS REQUIRED. THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS STATE: YOU MUST HAVE HAD YOUR VEHICLE REPAIRED BEFORE RECEIVING THE NOTICE. YOU MUST HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF REPAIR. YOU ARE STILL ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE REIMBURSEMENT IF YOU NO LONGER OWN THE VEHICLE, AS IT WAS STOLEN AND DECLARED A LOSS BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I NO LONGER HAVE THE VEHICLE TO FIND THE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE ENGINE BLOCK. I FEEL HONDA IS NOT HONORING THEIR OWN REIMBURSEMENT GUIDELINES. MY REPAIR/REPLACEMENT BILL WAS $4863.49. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE SAFETY SPLASH SHIELDS THAT PROTECT THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE DETACHED AND WERE DRAGGING ON THE GROUND. THE SPLASH SHIELDS WERE DESTROYED AND REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH A SECOND SHIELD AND IT WAS REPLACED AS WELL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS DUE TO STRIKING BUMPS ON THE GROUND WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT WAS HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED HIM TO BE CAREFUL WHILE DRIVING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000. UPDATED 01/14/09. *LJ UPDATED 01/15/09. *JB
THE VISOR CRACKED OPEN AND WOULD NOT CLOSE OR STAY UP, AND FALLS INTO THE VISION OF DRIVER/PASSENGER, CAUSING VISUAL IMPAIRMENT. THE FIRST TIME HAPPENED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND REPLACED ON 09/23/2008 AT 17534 MILES. THE SECOND TIME ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS REPLACED ON 07/02/2009 ON 24484 MILES. THE THIRD TIME HAPPENED AGAIN TO THE PASSENGER SIDE, AND WAS NOT REPLACED, AROUND 35,000 MILES. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN TO THE DRIVERS SIDE, AT 53,000 MILES, AGAIN HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED. *TR
THE SUN VISORS ON THE 2007 HONDA CIVIC LX ARE DEFECTIVE. ONCE THE HINGE BREAKS, THE VISOR WILL NO LONGER STAY UP AND IT HANGS STRAIGHT DOWN BLOCKING MORE THAN ONE THIRD OF THE WINDSHIELD VISIBILITY. BECAUSE MY VISION IS DANGEROUSLY OBSTRUCTED I OFTEN HAVE TO MOVE THE VISOR SO THAT IT IS AGAINST THE DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW. WITH THE VISOR IN THIS POSITION, NEARLY HALF OF THE SIDE WINDOW VISIBILITY IS OBSTRUCTED CAUSING YET A DIFFERENT BUT EQUALLY DANGEROUS HAZARD. FURTHERMORE, WHEN MY VISOR IS AGAINST THE DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW AND I HAVE TO TURN, THE VISOR OFTEN HITS ME IN THE HEAD. IN ORDER TO PREVENT BEING HIT IN THE HEAD I HAVE TO HOLD THE VISOR IN PLACE WHILE TURNING. YOUR DEFECT IS NOT ONLY A COSMETIC NUISANCE IT IS ALSO VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
I LEASED A 07 HONDA CIVIC; I AM HAVING MY VEHICLE REPAIRED DUE TO WATER DAMAGE. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE TO HAVE THIS VEHICLE REPAIRED DUE TO A WATER LEAK INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST 2 OCCURRENCES WERE COVERED BY MFG WARRANTY. THE THIRD OCCURRENCE IS BEING ATTRIBUTED TO HIGH STANDING WATER AND IS NOT COVERED. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF THIS ISSUE WAS IN 08/07, 5 MONTHS AFTER I LEASED THE VEHICLE. NO LEAKS WERE FOUND AT THAT TIME, THE CARPETING AND PADDING WAS REPLACED UNDER MFG WARRANTY. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS IN 07/08 THE INITIAL ASSESSMENT WAS THE VEHICLE WAS IN HIGH STANDING WATER. ADDITIONAL TESTS WERE RUN AND LEAKS WERE FOUND AND REPAIRED. THE CARPETING AND THE PADDING WERE REPLACED UNDER MFG WARRANTY. THE THIRD OCCURRENCE WAS IN 9/08. THE SAME REASON WAS USED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN HIGH STANDING WATER. THIS OCCURRENCE WILL NOT BE COVERED BY MFG WARRANTY. I AM WORKING WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. MY COMPLAINT IS IT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS HISTORICAL ISSUES WITH WATER LEAKING. THE DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED AND REPAIRED SOME OF THE ISSUES. THE THIRD TIME IT HAS HAPPENED AND NOW IT WILL NOT BE COVERED. I AM ON MY OWN AND HONDA IS TAKING NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE. I WILL NOW HAVE TO PAY MY DEDUCTIBLE AND MY INSURANCE RATES WILL INCREASE AS A RESULT OF THIS CLAIM. I AM NOT SURE WHAT I AM TO DO THE NEXT TIME IT RAINS HARD AND THE FLOORBOARD OF MY VEHICLE IS SOAKED AGAIN. *TR
MY SUN VISORS HAVE CRACKED/SPLIT AT THE TOP ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. THEY WILL NOT STAY UP AND BLOCK MY VISION SO THAT I HAVE TO TURN THEM TO THE SIDE FACING THE DOORS WHILE DRIVING. I HAD THEM BOTH REPLACED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2008. THEY BROKE EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AGAIN THIS SUMMER(2010). THE VISORS ARE NOT ABLE TO WITHSTAND THE HEAT AND SEEM TO MELT AND BURST AT THE SEAM IN THE SUMMER MONTHS.
REAR TIRE NOISE AND VIBRATION FROM 25,000 MILES ON. VISUAL INSPECTION SHOWS FLAT SPOTS ON BOTH REAR TIRES. TOOK IN FOR SERVICE AND HONDA SERVICE RELATED THAT THERE WAS AN UPDATED VERSION OF THE REAR SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM WHICH THEY REPLACED FOR FREE. HOWEVER THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO REPLACE OR EVEN PRORATE TIRE WEAR STATING THAT 30K MILES WARRANTED NO REPLACEMENT. FRONT TIRES SHOW NO WEAR AT ALL. THE TIRES HAVE WORN TO A UNSAFE LEVEL AND HONDA HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS SERVICE RELATED PROBLEM FOR MONTHS. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION FROM HONDA ON RECALLS OR SERVICE BULLETINS. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
REAR SHOCK OF HONDA 2007 HONDA CIVIC FAILED. BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. INFORMED THAT FAILURE WAS POSSIBLE DUE TO ISSUES WITH THE REAR SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM( TSA# 10024687). REAR TIRES SHOWED EXCESSIVE WEAR AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS A RESULT OF THE SUSPENSION ISSUES. THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY YET HONDA WOULD ONLY COVER 50% OF THE COST OF REPLACING THE TIRES. THEY COVERED FULL COST OF REPLACING THE CONTROL ARM. *TR

I HAVE BOUGHT A NEW 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID AND THE AIR CONDITIONER JUST STOPPED WORKING. AFTER GOING TO THE DEALER I FOUND OUT THAT A/C CONDENSER WAS DAMAGED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT WAS PROBABLY DUE TO SMALL PEBBLES ON THE ROAD AND THAT IT WOULD NOT BE UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS SHOCKED TO HEAR THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS WOULD NOT BE UNDER WARRANTY. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE A/C CONDENSER. IT'S NOT ONLY ON THE CIVIC, BUT ALSO THE ACCORD AND CR-V. THIS IS A DESIGN PROBLEM ON THESE VEHICLES AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED TO HAVE IT FIXED. THERE SHOULD BE SOMETHING IN FRONT OF THE CONDENSER TO PROTECT IT FROM BEING DAMAGED. ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS A DESIGN FAULT AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED ASAP. I HAVE ALREADY INFORMED EVERYONE I KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM: FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND CO-WORKERS. WE WERE DECIDING TO BUY ANOTHER HONDA CAR THIS YEAR, BUT UNLESS THIS ISSUE IS FIXED WE WILL NOT BUY ANY HONDA'S OR ITS PARTNERS SUCH AS ACURA. *TR
REAR CONTROL ARM NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HONDA FOR SOME REASON DOESN'T WANT TO DO A RECALL ON. THIS PROBLEM HAS MADE MY TIRES WEAR FASTER THAN USUAL. HONDA IS OFFERING VERY LITTLE TOWARDS REPLACING MY TIRES. I HAVE 17,000 MILES ON MY CAR. MY PART WAS ORDERED A WEEK AGO AND STILL WAITING FOR IT TO COME IN. THIS IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I FEEL HONDA SHOULD PUT NEW TIRES ON MY LEASED CAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I WORRY ABOUT MY LONG DISTANCE DRIVING. IS THIS PART GOING TO BREAK AND HAVE MY TIRES FALL OFF???? THIS COMPLAINT CONCERNS THE DEFECT ON THE HONDA 2006-2007 CIVIC OF THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS. I HAD MINE REPLACED AFTER ONLY 15 MONTHS OF USE BECAUSE THEY WERE INCORRECTLY MANUFACTURED, CAUSING LOUD VIBRATIONS AT NORMAL HIGHWAY DRIVING SPEEDS. THIS DEFECT ALSO CAUSED EXCESSIVE AND NOT NORMAL WARE ON MY TIRES CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO REPLACE THEM AT MY OWN EXPENSE INSTEAD OF ON HONDA'S DOLLAR AS THEY WORE DOWN DUE TO A HONDA RELATED ISSUE. *TR
I AM ON MY 3RD SET OF TIRES ON A CAR THAT HAS 58,000 MILES. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON HONDA CIVICS FOR 2006-2007. THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM/DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF THE CAR AND HONDA IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. WE NEED HELP. *TR
UPON READING REPORT # 10235631 ON HONDA CIVIC 2007, "A SOUND LIKE WATER RUSHING FROM THE REAR UNDERSIDE OF CAR UPON BRAKING AND ACCELERATING": MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC DOES THIS ALSO. IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT IT IS THE PARTIAL TANK OF GASOLINE SLOSHING BACK AND FORTH INSIDE THE GAS TANK. MOST, IF NOT ALL, CARS' GAS TANKS HAVE SHEET METAL BAFFLES INSIDE THE GAS TANK TO LIMIT THE SLOSHING OF FUEL UPON MOTION OF CAR. EITHER THE BAFFLES ARE NOT ADEQUATE OR NON-EXISTENT. DEALER JUST LOOKS AT ME WHEN I MENTIONED THIS. I KNOW CARS INSIDE AND OUT, AS I HAVE DONE ALMOST ALL OF THE MECHANICAL REPAIRS ON MY CARS FOR 55 YEARS, INCLUDING THE INNARDS OF THE GAS TANK. I PURCHASED A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID IN SEPTEMBER OF 2007. I FOLLOW REGULAR MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES AS RECOMMENDED BY MY DEALER. AS OF 8-18-2008, MY VEHICLE HAD OVER 12000 MILES ON IT. THE DAY PRIOR TO A REGULARLY SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE, TIRE ROTATION AND MISC. INSPECTION, I ENCOUNTERED A FLAT TIRE. UPON INSPECTION OF THE FLAT TIRE AND OTHER REAR TIRE, IT WAS NOTED THAT BOTH REAR TIRES WERE COMPLETELY BALD. BOTH TIRES WERE REPLACED THAT SAME DAY. ON THE FOLLOWING DAY, I TOOK MY CAR TO MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT AT THE HONDA DEALER. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN THAT I FELT THERE WAS A PROBLEM THAT LED TO PREMATURE WEAR ON THE REAR TIRES AND THAT I ALSO WANTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE COST OF THE NEW TIRES. IN MY CONVERSATION WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY SUSPECTED THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A "CONTROL ARM" ISSUE AND HE TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE MANY TIMES BEGINNING WITH THE 2006 MODEL. ULTIMATELY, THEY REPLACED/ REPAIRED THE CONTROL ARM AT NO CHARGE, PHOTOGRAPHED THE TIRES, RETAINED THE DAMAGED TIRES AND OFFERED TO ATTEMPT TO SECURE A REFUND TO COVER THE COST OF NEW TIRES. I EXPRESSED MY STRONG OPINION THAT HONDA SHOULD HAVE MADE THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM AWARE TO ALL HONDA CUSTOMERS. I BELIEVE IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND I FEEL FORTUNATE THAT MY FAMILY AND I WERE NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO RAPID WEAR OF THE TIRES. AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE, I DID SOME INTERNET RESEARCH AND WAS ASTOUNDED TO READ OF MANY INCIDENTS THAT WERE NEARLY IDENTICAL TO MINE. IT LOOKS AS THOUGH THIS ISSUE IS VERY COMMON TO THE HONDA CIVIC AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINTS. THIS ISSUE NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF ALL INDIVIDUALS RIDING/DRIVING IN THESE VEHICLES. I AM CONSIDERING SELLING MY CIVIC HYBRID. I WILL CONTINUE TO TRY TO BRING ATTENTION TO THIS ISSUE. *TR
I BOUGHT A NEW 07 HONDA CIVIC SI SEDAN. THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS ARE NOT ADJUSTABLE. IN FACT THEY ARE BUILT TO GIVE THE REAR TIRES MORE NEGATIVE CAMBER FOR BETTER TRACTION AROUND TURNS. IF I PUT TWO PEOPLE IN THE BACK OF THE CAR IT GIVES ME EVEN MORE NEGATIVE CAMBER AND WITH THAT MY I GO THROUGH TIRES QUICK. I HAVE EVEN NOTICED THAT WHEN DRIVING THROUGH SNOW THE CAR WANTS TO CHANGE LANES BY ITSELF. I STILL HAVE NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM TAKEN CARE OF. ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS PUT ADJUSTABLE CONTROL ARMS IN THE REAR LIKE THE OTHER CIVICS. IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE TO ME. I CAN SEE THIS BEING A SAFETY ISSUE IF SOME ONE WAS USING THIS AS A FAMILY CAR AND NEVER CHECKED THERE BACK TIRES. THIS PROBLEM CAN LEAD TO PREMATURE TIRE WEAR AND BLOW OUTS. 2007 HONDA CIVIC LX VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH SHAKING DRIVER AND PASSENGERS TO THE POINT THAT CONVERSATION VIA BLUETOOTH HANDS FREE DEVICE IS GREATLY IMPAIRED. THE VIBRATION HAS ALREADY LED TO EARLY TIRE WEAR AND THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR WHEEL ALIGNMENT TWICE AND REPLACED BOTH REAR TIRES ONCE AND A SECOND REAR TIRE A SECOND TIME SEEMINGLY DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO FEAR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE OR THAT THERE WILL BE THREATENED VEHICLE SAFETY, AS THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT IS SHAKING APART AT TIMES. THE VIBRATION/SHAKING OCCURS ALL TIMES THAT THE VEHICLE APPROACHES 70 MPH AND MANY TIMES AT SLOWER SPEEDS. ON-LINE RESEARCH HAS SHOWN A TOO-SHORT REAR ARM IN THE VEHICLE SUSPENSION CAUSING A NUMBER OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS IN SEVERAL 2007 VEHICLES. WHILE GOING TO MY DRS. HOME IN TILDON PARK, IN BERKELEY, TO GET TO TILDON PARK, THERE IS A SERIES OF 3 HILLS WITH STOP SIGNS AT THE TOP OF EACH. HOUSE, FROM THE DRS HOUSE I CALLED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND INFORMED THEM OF THIS PROBLEM, PLUS, WHEN I GOT TO THE DRS HOUSE, THERE WAS A SMELL, LIKE A SLIPPING CLUTCH OR HOT BRAKES, I ALSO TOLD HONDA OF THIS, THEY MADE ME A APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT DAY. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS APPROACHED BY A SERVICEMAN AND HE ASKED ME,,WHAT WAS I BRINGING THE CAR IN FOR?...I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE TRANS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY, I WAS TOLD..TAKE THE CAR HOME, WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THAT YET. WHEN I GOT HOME, I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND I WAS TOLD..TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, SO A HOUR LATER THE CAR WAS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP. I TOLD THE SERVICEMAN EXACTLY WHERE I WAS WHEN THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED, HE SAID HE WAS GOING TO HAVE A DRIVER GO UP THOSE HILLS AND SEE IF THE CAR WILL DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I LEFT THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR TWO DAYS. FINALLY I CALLED AND WAS TOLD..THEY COULDN'T GET THE PROBLEM TO DUPLICATE ITSELF. WHEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, I ASKED..DID YOU GO UP TO TILDON PARK?..I WAS TOLD YES. TWO DAYS LATER I HAD TO GO UP THOSE SAME HILLS AGAIN..AND AGAIN>.THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE AT THE SECOND HILL., SO THE DEALERSHIP LIED TO ME AND AGAIN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN I WAS TOLD..THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THEY THINK...THAT AT LOW RPM THE BATTERY WHICH RUNS THE TRANNY DOES NOT CHARGE. I'VE RECEIVED ONE PHONE CALL FROM SOMEONE AT AMERICAN HONDA ASKING ME FOR A OPINION, AND..HE GOT A EARFUL. I WAS EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE TIRE NOISE FROM THE REAR OF MY 2007 CIVIC LX COUPE. I ALSO FELT A SLIGHT SHIMMY COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. I HAD THE TIRES ROTATED AND IMMEDIATELY BEGAN HEARING A MUCH MORE PRONOUNCED HUM/VIBRATION NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS VERY PERCEIVABLE SHIMMY ON THE STEERING WHEEL BETWEEN 50 AND 60 MPH. I CONCLUDED THAT WHATEVER WAS WRONG IN THE BACK OF THE CAR WAS NOW TRANSFERRED TO THE FRONT AND IT HAD TO BE TIRES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT FLAT SPOTS HAD DEVELOPED ON THE FRONT TIRES (WHICH HAD BEEN ON THE REAR UNTIL THE DAY BEFORE). THESE FLAT SPOTS WERE THE CAUSE OF THE VIBRATION/HUM. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT HONDA DOES NOT WARRANTY TIRES. THE DEALER SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT TIRES AND THAT I SHOULD ALSO ALLOW THEM TO REPLACE THE REAR CONTROL ARM AS A WARRANTY REPAIR. THE DEALER NEVER ACTUALLY SAID THAT THE ORIGINAL FACTORY REAR CONTROL ARMS LEAD TO MY PREMATURE TIRE WEAR. THEY ONLY SAID THAT HONDA WAS ADVISING CUSTOMERS TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AS A WARRANTY REPAIR. TOOK CAR TO LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY HAVE HAD 8 2007 HONDA CIVICS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM RECENTLY. THEY STATED THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AT HONDA. REAR TIRE HOWLING FROM 12,000 MILES ON AND WERE WEARING VERY QUICKLY ON THE INSIDE WHICH IS NOT VISIBLE FROM CASUAL GLANCE. THE TIRES WORN DOWN TO A UNSAFE LEVEL AND HONDA HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS SERVICE RELATED PROBLEM FOR MONTHS AND NEVER NOTIFIED ME AS A OWNER AND I HAD THE VEHICLE IN THERE TWICE FOR SERVICE. FOUND THAT THE NOISE WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL WAS CAUSED FROM THE SEAL AT THE FIREWALL WAS RUBBING ON STEERING SHAFT. CORRECTED INSULATION AND FOUND WHEN AT IDLE AND TURNING WHEEL, HOOD VIBRATED AND MADE A NOISE. THEY ADJUSTED RUBBER STOPPERS AND RECHECKED SAYING IT IS ALL OK. NOW, TODAY ON 7/17/08 I HAD STEERING WHEEL LOCK UP ON ME FOR A BRIEF SECOND. TOOK MY CAR TO A MECHANIC I KNOW AND THEY TOLD ME TO FILL OUT THIS FORM. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 2007 HONDA CIVIC, AND NOTICED ON MY FIRST DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THAT THE REAR TIRES MADE QUITE A BIT OF NOISE. UPON INSPECTION BY A LOCAL MECHANIC, HE DETERMINED THAT THE TIRES WERE CUPPED AND UNUSUALLY WORN FOR A CAR WITH ONLY 18,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I HAD THE TIRES REPLACED. I WILL CONTACT MY LOCAL DEALER REGARDING THIS SERVICE BULLETIN, BUT SINCE I HAD THE TIRES REPLACED I'M WORRIED THAT THEY WILL NOT SEE A "PROBLEM" AND WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE. I FEEL THAT THERE IS ENOUGH EVIDENCE FOR THE NHTSA TO FORCE HONDA TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS, AS THE UNEVEN AND RAPID TIRE WEAR IS AN EXPENSIVE AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATION CAUSED BY HONDA'S MISTAKE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHENEVER THE CONTACT DRIVES THE VEHICLE AND DEPRESSES THE BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR PEDALS, SHE HEARS A SOUND AS IF WATER IS RUSHING FORWARD AND BACKWARDS. SHE STATED THAT THE SOUND APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM UNDER THE TRUNK. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK, BUT DID NOT REPAIR OR DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE. WHEN THE WINDOW IS CLOSED AND THE VEHICLE IS PLACED INTO PARK, SHE CAN HEAR THE SOUND MORE CLEARLY AS IF SHE IS IN A BOAT. MY PAINT CRACKED ON MY HOOD, ROOF AND FENDERS. I DID HAVE BIRD POOP EAT THROUGH THE PAINT ON THE PASSENGER DOOR. I KNEW HONDA WOULDN'T COVER THE BIRD POOP BUT I WANTED TO ASK ABOUT THE CRACKS. HONDA SERVICE SAID THAT MY WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE CRACKS FROM WHO KNOWS WHAT SO I HAD TO FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM. I HAD TO HAVE ALL THOSE PLACES ON MY CAR PAINTED. I HAVE SINCE RESEARCHED AND FOUND MANY OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE PAINT AND HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AS ME. I BELIEVE HONDA'S PAINT IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR'S PAINT BE SO SOFT AND OF POOR QUALITY. I PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR MY CAR AND BELIEVE IF THE PAINT DOESN'T HOLD UP THEN RUST WILL ENSUE AND THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I WANT THIS PROBLEM ADDRESSED. THE GUY AT THE BODY SHOP SAID THAT HE HAD TO REPAINT 4 HONDA VANS THAT HAVE THE BLUE PAINT BECAUSE THE PAINT WAS DEFECTIVE. I BELIEVE THE SILVER PAINT IS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. PEOPLE ARE BUYING THESE CARS AND BELIEVE THEY ARE GOING TO LAST A LONG TIME AND THEY ARE NOT. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE REAR SUPPORT ARMS AS WELL AND BOTH REAR TIRES WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN TWO YEARS. THE DEALER PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT AND BOTH REAR TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN SIX WEEKS. THERE HAD BEEN NO FURTHER REPAIRS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. WHILE BRAKING FROM SPEEDS OF 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE JOLTED BACKWARD AS IF SHE HAD SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. THE CONTACT WAS ON A FLAT ROAD SURFACE WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,793.
2007 HONDA CIVIC EXA/C STOPPED WORKING. BOUGHT CAR 2/18/07 WITH 18 MILES ON IT. TOLD BY DEALER ROCK PROBABLY HIT CONDENSER. DEALER COULD NOT SHOW ME WHERE THE PUNCTURE AREA WAS. DEALER INDICATED WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER REPAIR. BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, MY AIR CONDITIONING WHEN TURNED ON WOULD RATTLE REALLY BAD, TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICING, THEY TIGHTENED THE DRIVE BELT, AIR CONDITIONING WAS STILL RATTLING, THEY INDICATED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG. NOW I HAVE NO AIR. I HAVE RESEARCHED OTHER HONDA OWNERS AND THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. I HAVE PRINTED OUT MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO A/C CONDENSERS AND THE REASONS THAT THE DEALER HAS GIVEN. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN HONDA'S MANUFACTURING OF THE CAR THAT HAPPENS TO BE A VERY COSTLY REPAIR TO THE CONSUMER WHEN IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT. *TR
EXCESSIVE TEAR WIRE, CAR PURCHASED IN MARCH 2007, NEEDED NEW REAR TIRES, AFTER ONLY 18,000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH MERGING ON THE INTERSTATE HE ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND SUDDENLY THE ACCELERATION STOPPED. HE ALSO APPLIED EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BUT IT FELT LIKE THE ACCELERATION DID NOT INCREASE. THE RPMS INCREASED; HOWEVER, THE HYBRID SYSTEM WAS OF NO ASSISTANCE. BEFORE HE MERGED ONTO THE INTERSTATE HE OBSERVED THE BATTERY PACK HAD FIVE BARS. WHEN HE FELT THE ACCELERATION STOP, THE POWER GAUGE DROPPED FROM 5 BARS TO 1 BAR RAPIDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER HAS PERFORMED TWO SOFTWARE UPDATES ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED 6 TIMES SINCE THE LAST SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE DEALER ADVISED HIM THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DOES NOT HAVE A FIX AND HAVE REFUSED TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,610.
THE SUN VISORS ON THE 2007 HONDA CIVIC LX ARE DEFECTIVE. ONCE THE HINGE BREAKS, THE VISOR WILL NO LONGER STAY UP AND IT HANGS STRAIGHT DOWN BLOCKING MORE THAN ONE THIRD OF THE WINDSHIELD VISIBILITY. BECAUSE MY VISION IS DANGEROUSLY OBSTRUCTED I OFTEN HAVE TO MOVE THE VISOR SO THAT IT IS AGAINST THE DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW. WITH THE VISOR IN THIS POSITION, NEARLY HALF OF THE SIDE WINDOW VISIBILITY IS OBSTRUCTED CAUSING YET A DIFFERENT BUT EQUALLY DANGEROUS HAZARD. FURTHERMORE, WHEN MY VISOR IS AGAINST THE DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW AND I HAVE TO TURN, THE VISOR OFTEN HITS ME IN THE HEAD. IN ORDER TO PREVENT BEING HIT IN THE HEAD I HAVE TO HOLD THE VISOR IN PLACE WHILE TURNING. YOUR DEFECT IS NOT ONLY A COSMETIC NUISANCE IT IS ALSO VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
