FACSIMILE FROM CONGRESSMAN JACK KINGSTON ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT, WHO IS SEEKING ASSISTANCE REGARDING PROBLEMS HE IS EXPERIENCING WITH THE REAR SWING ARMS OF HIS 2007 HONDA CIVIC. *NJ THE CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD TIRE NOISE AND NOTICED THE REAR TIRES WERE TILTED INWARD, INDICATING THE ALIGNMENT WAS INCORRECT. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE WORN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS THE SWING ARMS THAT WERE DESIGNED IMPROPERLY THAT CAUSED THE TIRES TO WEAR EXCESSIVELY. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. HE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE TIRES WERE TILTED INWARD AS IF THE ALIGNMENT WAS INCORRECT. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT WITHOUT HIS AUTHORIZATION AND WITHOUT HAVING A ZONE REPRESENTATIVE INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE REPAIR SHOP. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,382 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,780.
2007 HONDA CIVIC LX SEDAN HAS EXHIBITED CHASSIS VIBRATION AND WHEEL NOISE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE IS CUPPING. THREE VISITS TO TWO HONDA DEALERSHIP SERVICE FACILITIES HAS NOT CORRECTED THIS CHRONIC PROBLEM. *JB
THE 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI (MANUAL TRANSMISSION) INCLUDES A "DRIVE-BY-WIRE" FUEL THROTTLE SYSTEM THAT SIMULATES LEAVING YOUR FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR EVEN WHEN YOUR FOOT HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE PEDAL WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT GEARS OR ATTEMPTING TO DECELERATE. THIS CONDITION PRESENTS A SAFETY THREAT AS WELL AS NECESSITATING EXCESSIVE BRAKING FORCE CAUSING UNNECESSARY PREMATURE WEARING OF THE BRAKE LINING AND ROTORS. A TSB WAS RELEASED FOR THE 2006 HONDA CIVIC SI THAT ATTEMPTS TO ADDRESS THIS SAME ISSUE. HOWEVER, THIS CORRECTION IS EITHER NOT ADDRESSED ON THE 2007 MODEL OR NOT SUFFICIENTLY ADDRESSED TO CORRECT THE SAFETY THREAT CAUSED BY THIS CONDITION. *TR
INDEPENDENT GARAGE DISCOVERED DURING AN OIL CHANGE THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FROM A VALVE COVER GASKET. TOOK CAR TO DEALER. THIS WAS AT 3,300 MILES. NO PROBLEM SINCE REPAIR. CAR NOW HAS 5,800 MILES ON IT (1/14/08). *TR
MY BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY THEY SLIP AND I HAVE TO RAMMED TOO HARD TO APPLY SUDDENLY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING A 2007 HONDA CIVIC, A COMPANY VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH ONTO AN ON-RAMP, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND IT FLIPPED OVER. PRIOR TO LOSING CONTROL, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK. SHE THOUGHT SHE HAD STRUCK SOMETHING, BUT IT WAS ACTUALLY THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING. THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED A FRACTURED WRIST. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V399000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK:WHEEL SPEED SENSOR) WAS REFERENCED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I HAVE A HONDA CIVIC SI, 2007 MODEL, THAT I HAD A FLAT AND REPLACED ONE TIRE. TIRE DEALERSHIP REPLACED TIRE AT AROUND 6000 MILES, WHEN GOING IN TO HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR MAINTENANCE (ROTATION TIRES, OIL CHANGE) THE SHOP FOREMAN INFORMED ME THAT THE TIRE WAS BAD BECAUSE MY CAR WAS NOW PULLING. WHEN STATING PULLING, IT WAS A MAJOR PULL, NOT SLIGHT PULL. I TOOK CAR BACK TO TIRE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REFUSED TO EVEN DRIVE MY CAR, SAID IT WAS NORMAL TO HAVE IT PULL. TOOK CAR TO ANOTHER TIRE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED TIRE. UPON GOING TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN FOR MAINTENANCE, THE NEW TIRE WAS ROTATED TO FRONT OF CAR AGAIN AND IT WAS PULLING AGAIN. SHOP FOREMAN INSIST IT IS THE TIRE. I BRING CAR BACK TO TIRE DEALERSHIP AT WHICH TIME HE REALIZES THAT THE TIRE IS NOT THE RIGHT TIRE. ORDERS THE CORRECT TIRE AND INSTALLED IT AND THE CAR STILL PULLS. NOW THIS IS NOT REPEAT NOT A SLIGHT PULL, BUT A MAJOR PULL. IF I DO NOT HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT I WOULD BE IN THE DITCH OR OTHER LANE UPON TAKING OFF. THE PULL IS REALLY A HARD PULL. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP, BECAUSE TIRE DEALERSHIP SAYS ITS THE CAR, CAR DEALERSHIP SAYS ITS THE TIRE? CAN SOMEONE HELP? PLEASE *TR
INCREASINGLY WORSE REAR TIRE NOISE. DEALER SAYS NORMAL. EVENTUAL FIRST OIL CHANGE AND DEALER ADMITS TO TECH. SVC. BULLETIN. 4HRS LABOR (NO LOANER) AND HARD SELL TO REPLACE TIRES FOR $300 APROX. SINCE THIS WAS MY FAULT(?) SUN VISOR FAILED AND HAS BECOME A HAZARD WITH NO REMEDY AVAILABLE, ONLY ANOTHER DEFECTIVE VISOR. *TR
THE IMA SYSTEM ON MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID GOES THROUGH WHAT I CALL A DISCHARGE CYCLE MOSTLY IN WARMER WEATHER. THIS CULMINATES IN LOSE OF ALL IMA FUNCTIONS. I MY CASE THIS LOSE IS BRIEF. IT HOWEVER MAKE THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE ERRATIC. HONDA HAS MADE NO REAL ATTEMPT TO GET TO THE BOTTOM.OF THIS PROBLEM. HONDA SHOULD BUY THIS VEHICLE BACK AT FULL RETAIL VALUE SINCE IT WILL BE DIFFICULT TO SELL. I MY STATE IF I PURSUED THIS IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT I COULD BE ENTITLED TO THREE TIMES THE DAMAGE. *TR
VEHICLE ACCELERATING AND RPM'S RACING WHILE IDLE, AND WHILE DRIVING. *TR
WHEN ACCELERATING, SHIFTING INTO THIRD GEAR IS NEVER RELIABLE. WHEN YOU SHIFT FROM 2ND GEAR TO 3RD, IT GRINDS AND THEN POPS OUT. THIS LEADS ME TO OVER REV THE ENGINE. CURRENTLY, THERE IS NO SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS PROBLEM NOR IS THEIR A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN VISORS WERE WARPED AND WOULD CONTINUOUSLY SWING DOWN AND FLAP BACK AND FORTH, OBSTRUCTING THE DRIVER'S VIEW OF THE ROADWAY. THE ENGINE WOULD ALSO OVERHEAT FREQUENTLY AND THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED. IN ADDITION, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGES WOULD NOT PROPERLY MONITOR THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE. THE ENGINE RPMS WOULD OFTEN EXHIBIT AND ABNORMAL INCREASE. ON ONE OCCASION WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY ON AN INCLINE, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARD ON THE RAMP. THE CONTACT BARELY MISSED CRASHING INTO A TRACTOR TRAILER. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THEY WOULD COVER NINETY PERCENT OF THE ENGINE BLOCK REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN THE POSSESSION OF THE DEALER FOR OVER ONE MONTH. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 74,900.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THE CONTACT FELT THE BRAKES LOCK. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS FORCED OUT OF HIS HANDS. THE CONTACT STRUCK A CURB AND DROVE INTO THE LIVING ROOM OF SOMEONE'S RESIDENCE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELTS FAILED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE HONDA MANUFACTURER AND THEY DISPATCHED AN ADJUSTER AND AN ENGINEER, WHO BOTH STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 19,500.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND THE VEHICLE SPUN OUT OF CONTROL WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE THEN CRASHED INTO A WALL. AS OF SEPTEMBER 17, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATE SPEEDS OF 50 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THE NEXT WEEK, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT SUDDENLY. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FAILURE TO BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE MANNER IN WHICH THE TIRES WERE MOUNTED TO THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED A SPECIFIC UNKNOWN TIRE AND AN ALIGNMENT. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE EXACT CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
I BOUGHT MY NEW '07 CIVIC LX FOUR WEEKS AGO. WHEN I TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER ON LOW: IT CONSISTENTLY CYCLES (A VERTICAL FAN NEAR THE ENGINE) AND MAKES A VERY LOUD CLICKING NOISE EVERY SEVEN SECONDS (LIKE DROPPING A MARBLE ON A PIECE OF METAL). THE NOISE CONTINUES--WHETHER THE CAR IS STOPPED OR MOVING--AND SEEMS TO GET LOUDER AND LOUDER; TO THE POINT WHERE OTHER PASSENGERS IN MY CAR ARE HEARING IT (EVEN IF I HAVE THE RADIO TURNED ON). THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE NOISE IT TO TURN THE FAN SPEED TO HIGH--SO THE "VERTICAL FAN" NEAR THE ENGINE CONTINUOUSLY RUNS (DOESN'T TURN ON AND OFF). THE NOISE DOESN'T OCCUR WHEN THE HEATER IS TURNED ON. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE AUTO DEALER: THE FIRST TIME, THE MANAGER DIDN'T HAVE THE A/C INSPECTED--TOLD ME THAT IT'S NORMAL. A WEEK LATER, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME: THEY CLAIM TO HAVE "COMPARED WITH LIKE VEHICLE"..."AIR CONDITIONER OPERATING AS DESIGNED BY HONDA." (THAT'S WHAT WAS WRITTEN ON MY CUSTOMER COPY REPAIR INVOICE.) MY AUTO DEALER NEVER SHOWED ME THE "LIKE VEHICLE" TO PROVE TO ME THAT--THE CONSISTENT LOUD NOISE--IS A NORMAL PROCEDURE. I'VE DRIVEN LESS SUPERIOR CARS (FORD ESCORT AND CHEVROLET TRACKER) AND NEVER HAD SUCH A PROBLEM. *TR
HONDA HAS INSTALLED FAULTY REAR CONTROL ARMS ON THEIR 2007 HONDA CIVICS. THEY WILL NOT RECALL THIS PART. THEY HAVE ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN. THE DEFECTIVE PART CAUSES THE TIRES IN THE REAR TO WEAR PREMATURELY AND IN A CUPPING MANNER. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN KNOW TO BLOW OUT AT ABOUT 20,000 MILES. HONDA REPLACES THE PART BUT WILL NOT REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE TIRES. THE REPAIR SHOPS WILL ALLOW CUSTOMERS TO LEAVE WITH DEFECTIVE TIRES. *TR
I TOOK MY BRAND NEW 2007 HONDA CIVIC COUPE LX AND RIGHT AFTER I TOOK IT, I FOUND THE CAR IS DRIFTING TO RIGHT WHEN DRIVING ON MY WAY HOME. THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FORM TOLD ME THAT IT IS WITHIN SPEC. IT TOOK ABOUT 7 SEC TO DRIFT FROM ONE LANE TO ANOTHER ON HIGHWAY. THIS IS WITHIN THEIR SPEC. THIS IS HONDA'S QUALITY. *TR
NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 07V-399 MFR CAMPAIGN ID: Q56 CAMPAIGN DESCRIPTION: '06-'07 HCM CIVIC REAR BEARING RECALL DATE: 08/30/2007 RECALL STATUS: 17 CHARACTER VIN REQUIRED SUMMARY: ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR HOUSING USES AN O-RING SEAL TO PREVENT LEAKAGE TO OR FROM THE WHEEL BEARING. IF ASSEMBLED IMPROPERLY, THE O-RING MAY NOT SEAL PROPERLY ALLOWING WATER TO ENTER THE WHEEL BEARING AND EVENTUALLY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BEARING, ESPECIALLY IN AREAS WHERE USE OF ROAD SALT IS PREVALENT. IF THE DRIVER CONTINUES TO DRIVE WITH THIS CONDITION IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE WHEEL BEARING TO BECOME LOOSE, WHICH COULD CAUSE THE BEARING TO FAIL. SAFETY RISK: THIS COULD CAUSE A WHEEL TO FALL OFF OF THE VEHICLE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A CRASH. REMEDY: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE REAR ABS SENSORS AND WHEEL BEARINGS FOR DAMAGED PARTS AND REPLACE THEM FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2007. I HAVE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THE 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI THAT WE JUST BOUGHT THIS MONTH: 1) I WAS TOLD WE GET AM AND FM RADIO RECEPTION. I GET ABSOLUTELY NO AM RADIO RECEPTION AND WAS OFFERED THE CHOICE OF HAVING HONDA INSTALL XM RADIO (FOR $500). I INSTALLED IT MYSELF FOR $150, BUT THIS ALL SEEMS LIKE A PLOY TO GET US TO BUY XM RADIO FROM THEM. 2) EVERY DAY THERE IS A NEW PAINT DEFECT TO NOTICE. I HAVE A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID, ON AUGUST 17,2007 AS I WAS ENTERING A PARKING SPACE THE ACCELERATOR STUCK AND I HIT A SMALL TRUCK THAT WAS PARKED IN THE FRONT SPOT. THERE WAS MINIMAL DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK BUT MY CAR SUSTAINED OVER $7000.00 IN DAMAGES. I WAS JUST GLAD THERE WERE NO PEOPLE BETWEEN MY CAR AND THE TRUCK, SINCE THEY COULD HAVE SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES. I WAS ONLY SLIGHTLY INJURED BUT I AM CONCERNED THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. THE DEALER DENIED ANY PROBLEMS. *JB

THIS IS A NOTIFICATION OF A DEFECT BEFORE IT BECOMES A FAILURE WHICH CAUSES ACCIDENT OR LOSS OF LIFE. I HAVE REPEATEDLY RETURNED MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI SEDAN FOR SERVICE (4 TIMES) FOR A DEFECT IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION WHICH COULD CAUSE STRUT FAILURE. THE PROBLEM IS UNRESOLVED. I OWN A 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI. I HAVE HEARD A POPPING TYPE SOUND COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR OR ON THE DRIVETRAIN. I HEAR IT WHEN GOING INTO OR OUT OF DRIVEWAYS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. ALSO I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIRD GEARIN MY TRANSMISSION. IT SEEMS LIKE IT DOES NOT WANT TO GRAB THIRD GEAR. I HAD TO HAVE MY CLUTCH REPLACED AT 4K MILES. I WAS TOLD IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN MY "HARD SHIFTING". I WAS TOLD IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THIS INCIDENT TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN, AND THEY SAY THEY CANT MAKE MY CAR DO THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENS WHEN I DRIVE IT. MY 2001 HONDA CIVIC, DIED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. I COULDN'T ACCELERATE SO I HAD TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE FREEWAY. I TOWED TO A FAMILY MECHANIC, AND HE SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILT. IT WAS GOIN G TO COST ME $1800 FOR IT. MY CAR ONLY HAS 78,000 MILES, IT IS RIDICULOUS FOR THIS TO HAPPENED WHEN YOU TAKE GOOD CARE OF THE CAR, I HAD JUST DONE DE 60,000 MILE SERVICE, AND THE TRANSMISSION STILL DIED. I HAVE CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND THEY SAID THERE IS NMOTHING THEY CAN DO. I HAVE CHECKED ONLINE, AND THERE IS A LOT OF CARS THAT ARE SUFFERING THE SAME THING, IT IS DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURE PROBLEM, SOME TYPE OF FAILURE. *TR
UNDER HUMID CONDITIONS, THE MAIN BATTERY OF THIS HYBRID SUDDENLY DRAINS, LEAVING THE CAR WITHOUT THE ELECTRIC MOTOR. IN THIS VEHICLE, THIS MEANS THAT THERE IS VERY LIMITED TORQUE (NORMALLY SUPPLIED BY THE ELECTRIC MOTOR). THIS FIRST OCCURRED IN THE SUMMER OF 2007 AND HAS CONTINUED WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY TO THE PRESENT TIME. THIS BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SELLING DEALERSHIP (SOUTHERN MOTORS OF SAVANNAH) IN AUGUST OF 2007 AND AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER OF THE SAME YEAR. THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG DESPITE BEING SHOWN PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE OF THE FAILURE. THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON AUGUST 8, 2008 WITH FURTHER PROOF OF THE PROBLEM. I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF MY 2005 HONDA CIVIC LX. AT 62,000 THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULDN'T TURN OFF. TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN. THEY DETERMINED IT WAS THE SRS CONTROL UNIT THAT CONTROLS THE AIR BAGS. I ASKED IF IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY SAID NO. I SAID THE SAFETY FEATURES OF THIS VEHICLE HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY. THEY TOLD ME IT ONLY COVERED THE SEATBELT BUCKLES. I TOLD THEM I THOUGHT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY SAID NO, AND IT WOULD BE $800 FOR THE PART ALONE, NO LABOR, PAYABLE UP FRONT. AC STOP WORKING ON MY NEW 3 MONTH OLD 2007 HONDA CIVIC. AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER COIL RECEIVED DAMAGE APPARENTLY CAUSED BT A PEBBLE THAT WAS KICKED UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONGST HONDA OWNERS FROM THE RESEARCH I'VE DONE. THE MALFUNCTION MOSTLY OCCURS AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN PARKED IS THE HOT SUN, ONCE ENGINE IS STARTED WITHIN 3-10 MINUTES ENGINE WILL RUN ROUGH, THE IMA SYSTEM (INTEGRATED MOTOR ASSIST) WILL START CHARGING THE IMA BATTERY (158 VOLT NICKEL METAL HYDRIDE BATTERY) THEN SUDDENLY EMPTY THE COMPLETE CHARGE OF THE IMA BATTERY WITHIN 10 SECONDS. THROTTLE LAG. IMMEDIATELY UPON PURCHASING AND DRIVING THE HONDA CIVIC EX 2007 THERE WAS A DELAY IN RESPONSE FROM PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR TO INCREASING THE ENGINE'S RPMS. THERE WAS A DISTINCT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CAR THAT WAS TEST DRIVEN AND THE CAR THAT WAS PURCHASED. THE DEALER ORIGINALLY ACKNOWLEDGED THE THROTTLE LAG BETWEEN THE TWO CARS. THEY CONTACTED HONDA CANADA AND WERE TOLD TO PROPERLY "BREAK IN" THE ENGINE. THIS CONSISTED OF LUGGING THE CAR IN FIFTH GEAR (MANUAL TRANSMISSION) UP A HILL FOR APPROX 100 KILOMETERS. THEY FELT THAT THE ENGINE WAS TIGHT AND THAT THIS MIGHT HELP THE THROTTLE LAG PROBLEM. IT DID, MARGINALLY. FURTHER CONTACT WITH HONDA CANADA WAS MET WITH A RESPONSE THAT THROTTLE LAG WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAR AND THE DRIVE BY WIRE THROTTLE SYSTEM. APPARENTLY THROTTLE LAG IN DRIVE BY WIRE IS NOT UNCOMMON AND THERE ARE SOME AFTER MARKET PARTS (SPRINT BOOSTER) TO HELP THE PROBLEM BUT NOT FOR HONDA AND THEY ARE ONLY AVAILABLE IN EUROPE. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT PERHAPS IT IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE BUT NO SOFTWARE FIX HAS BEEN AVAILABLE THROUGH HONDA CANADA. THERE IS MOST DEFINITELY A PROBLEM BETWEEN THE SENDING AND RECEIVING UNIT IN THE DRIVE BY WIRE SYSTEM. THIS PROBLEM IS MORE PRONOUNCED IN SOME CIVICS THAN OTHERS. ALTHOUGH MINE IS PRONOUNCED, HONDA CANADA DOES NOT SEE IT AS A PROBLEM.
