PROBLEM WITH 3RD GEAR POPPING OUT OR NOT GOING IN HAPPENS IN ALL CONDITIONS. *TR
I BOUGHT A HONDA CIVIC SEDAN IN 2007 AND LESS THAN TWO MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT MY AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT THEY TOLD ME A ROCK PROBABLY HIT MY CONDENSER AND BROKE MY A/C. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH HONDA AND IT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE PART TO FIX. I HAVE BEEN GOING A FEW MONTH WITHOUT A/C BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD SUCH A REPAIR. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR HONDA SHOULD PROVIDE SOME TYPE OF PROTECTION OVER THE CONDENSER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR RUBBER MOLDING WAS DEFECTIVE. THE RUBBER WOULD COME OUT OF PLACE AND CAUSED THE DRIVER TO TRIP WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE RUBBER MOLDING ONCE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
HONDA MANUFACTURED FAULTY REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS, AND THUS MADE THE CAR DEFECTIVE CAUSING UNEVEN TIRE WEAR IN THE REAR TIRES. HONDA REFUSES TO COVER THE FACTORY DEFECT AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM. HONDA CREATED THE PROBLEM FROM DAY ONE REGARDLESS OF THE MILEAGE OR AGE OF THE CAR. I DID NOT CAUSE THE FACTORY PROBLEM, DUE TO THE FACT I DID NOT MAKE THE CAR. AMERICAN HONDA IS RESPONSIBLE. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS 2007 HONDA CIVIC COUPE NEW IN MAY OF 2007. THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT AND SUBSEQUENT RECALL FOR THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS THAT CAUSED SEVERE UNEVEN TIRE WEAR AND VIBRATION. THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT THE FIX DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND HONDA WILL NOT STAND BEHIND MAKING IT RIGHT. THE REPLACEMENT ARMS DO NOT PROVIDE SUFFICIENT LATITUDE IN THE ADJUSTMENT IN CAMBER. THERE ARE AFTER MARKET FIXES FOR THIS. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE TIRE WEAR AND SUBSEQUENT HANDLING WHILE DRIVING ARE A HAZARD ON THE ROAD. THIS MAY ALSO BE CAUSE FOR A NEW CLASS ACTION SUIT, AS THE ORIGINAL "FIX" WAS NOT A FIX. *TR
SINCE DAY OF PURCHASE NOTICED THIRD GEAR POPPING. THOUGHT BEING NEW CAR COULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. IT IS NOW 6 MONTHS LATER. CALLED SERVICE AT HONDA DEALERSHIP. QUESTIONED WARRANTY AND EXPLAINED ISSUES WITH CAR, SUCH AS CLUTCH SLIPPING, SEEMS SYNC ROLLS ARE GOING. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS IT IS DRIVER. CALLED AMERICA HONDA CORP. THEY ADMIT TRANSMISSION FIX WILL BE COMING OUT IN 2008, BUT ONLY CERTAIN VIN#'S ARE COVERED. I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING THIS SINCE IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM EVEN IN OTHER YEAR AND MAKES WITH SAME ISSUES! THESE SAME COMPLAINTS ARE ALL OVER INTERNET!COST HAS BEEN ESTIMATED AT $1200! EVEN WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE PURCHASED. *TR
MY HONDA CIVIC HYBRID IS GIVING OFF UNSAFE LEVELS OF EMF'S. IT HAS CAUSED ME TO FALL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL 3X AND HAVE HAD TO TAKE NAPS AFTER 1/2 HR OF DRIVING. MY B/P HAS BEEN OUT OF CONTROL SINCE USING THE CAR ALOT. MY DOG GOES INTO PRE-SEIZURE AFTER 5 MIN IN CAR. I HAVE TO GET RIDES WHEN I TAKE HER TO THE DR.HONDA WILL NOT ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WITHOUT DOCUMENTATION FROM MY LOCAL DEALER. MY DEALER REFUSES TO DOCUMENT. THE FIELD ENGINEER WILL NOTO LOOK AT THE CAR WITHOUT DOCUMENTS. THIS IS A VERY BIG SAFETY ISSUE WITH FATIGUE ALSO ONLY THE PRIUS. THINK OF ALL THE HYBRIDS OUT THERE WITH PEOPLE GETTING TIRED AND POSSIBLY FALLING ASLEEP. THESE CARS CAN BE SHIELDED FROM THESE VERY HIGH LEVELS OF EMF'S. THERE REALLY IS NO INCIDENT DATE BECAUSE THIS IS ONGOING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED ONCE A YEAR ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
07 HONDA CIVIC SI SEDAN--3RD GEAR SHIFTS UNEASY. SOMETIMES THERE IS RESISTANCE WHEN SHIFTING TO 3RD GEAR AND SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. *TR
WAS APPROACHING TRAFFIC LIGHT TRAVELING BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES AND BRAKING IN PREPARATION TO STOP, WHEN VEHICLE ENGINE BEGAN TO RAM UP AND DOWN WHILE MY FOOT REMAINS ON BRAKE. I SHIFTED GEAR TO PARK AND ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUSH UP AND DOWN. I TURNED ENGINE OFF, AND THEN BACK ON AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUSH UP AND DOWN. I AGAIN TURNED ENGINE OFF AND THEN ON AND ENGINE STILL RUSHED UP AND DOWN. I TURNED ENGINE OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN. ENGINE BEGAN TO RUSH, BUT THEN RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. I WAS VERY CONCERNED AND EXCITED CONCERNING POTENTIAL RECURRENCE LEADING TO SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IMMEDIATELY TOOK CAR TO HONDA DEALER SHIP, EXPLAINED SITUATION. DEALER SUPPOSEDLY INSPECTED AND FOUND NO CAUSE OR EXPLANATION FOR PROBLEM. I REPORTED PROBLEM IN WRITING TO AMERICAN HONDA AUTO CORP. CUSTOMER. SERVICE. (THIS HAD OCCURRED ON 2 OTHER OCCASIONS WITH MINIMAL OR MOMENTARY EFFECT, THINKING IT WAS NOT A SERIOUS ISSUE. THIS MOST RECENT CASE PROVED OTHERWISE. *TR
EXCESSIVE NOISE BEGAN TO EMANATE FROM THE REAR TIRES . STABILITY CONTROL FROM SIDE TO SIDE BECAME A PROBLEM. EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR , SPECIFICALLY EXCESSIVE INSIDE CUPPING OF REAR TIRES CONTINUED. ATTEMPTS TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM OVER THE YEARS BY ROTATING TIRES, FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT, CHECKING TIRE PRESSURES WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. RECENTLY INSTALLED UPPER REAR CONTROL ARMS AS RECOMMENDED BY DEALER. TOTALLY SOLVED THE PROBLEM. ALL AT MY EXPENSE. A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. ALL OWNERS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED TO PREVENT INJURIES. SURVEY SHOULD BE CONDUCTED TO DETERMINE IF ANY HAVE OCCURRED TO DATE. SLOW THROTTLE RESPONSE SINCE PURCHASE, DOOR GLASS RATTLE SINCE PURCHASE, THE THIRD GEAR WOULD GIVE RESISTANCE, WHICH IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE SIX SPEED TRANSMISSION. I PATCHED THE PROBLEM BY CHANGING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND INSTALLING A SHORTER SHIFTER YET THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT SOLUTION. HONDA HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR THE ACTUAL PROBLEM WITH THE THIRD GEAR SYNCHRO AND AT ONE POINT STATED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY CAUSED BY MY DRIVING, THE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE GOING INTO THIRD GEAR IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT HONDA CORPORATE HAS RELEASED FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM. THE HEADLINER RATTLES, DOOR GASKET SEAL HAS BEEN COMING OFF SINCE PURCHASE, SUSPENSION POPPING NOISE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE STRUT SINCE PURCHASE AND THE SOUND HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT, THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND WAS REPLACED, THE DRIVER DOOR HITS THE FENDER WHEN OPENING JUST STARTED HAPPENING SINCE HONDA WORKED ON MY VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN TAKING MY VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS (RECOMMENDED BY HONDA CORPORATE) AND NOTHING HAS BEEN PROPERLY REPAIRED. I FEEL AS THOUGH I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE RUN AROUND FOR THE PAST YEAR. HONDA HAS MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE PROBLEMS AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO, THEY HAVE ONLY DAMAGED MY VEHICLE DURING THEIR ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR IT. THEY HAVE DAMAGED THE FRONT BUMPER THREE TIMES, THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE ONCE, THE DOOR AND FENDER ONCE. THEY OF COURSE DENIED ANY INVOLVEMENT IN THE DAMAGE, THEN REPAIR IT UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO THIRD GEAR. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN THIRD GEAR, IT SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 03/01/16*LJ *TR
MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID HAS UNEVEN AND IRREGULAR WEAR ON THE TIRES DUE TO AN EXTENSION ARM PROBLEM IN THE REAR. HONDA ISSUES A RECALL "FIX" WHICH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM CAUSES CUPPING WHICH CREATES AN EXTREMELY NOISY, UNSTABLE RIDE. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY TIRES REPLACED FOUR TIMES. HONDA HAS SAID THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND UNDERSTAND MY "CONCERN" BUT THEY WILL NO LONGER REPLACE MY TIRES. I THINK IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT I WOULD HAVE PAY FOR REAR TIRES MORE THAN TWICE A YEAR BECAUSE OF THEIR ENGINEERING PROBLEM. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM ABOUT A MONTH AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AND IT HAS BEEN A CONSTANT BATTLE! THE CAR BECOMES REALLY UNSTABLE AND IN MINNESOTA WINTERS, IT HANDLES TERRIBLE IN WINTER CONDITIONS. I HAVE SLID IN THE DITCH WHEN OTHERS WERE TRAVELING MUCH FASTER THAN MYSELF BASED ON THE ROAD CONDITIONS. THIS IS A NUISANCE AND SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN MARCH OF 2007. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT WHEN DRIVING 60 MPH OR MORE ON THE FREEWAY, THE CAR SEEMED TO SWERVE AND WAS VERY HARD TO KEEP IN THE LANE. I'VE DRIVEN HONDA CIVICS AND OTHER SMALL CARS FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS SO THIS WAS VERY UNEXPECTED. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL DEALER WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRES WERE FINE AND THAT THEY SAW NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. I CONTINUED TO NOTICE THE DIFFICULTY IN STEERING THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE BRIDGESTONE FACTORY TIRES WERE ROTATED AT 6000 MILES. MOVING THE TIRES SEEMED TO DECREASE THE PROBLEM SO I AGAIN MENTIONED THIS TO THE DEALER. THEY AGAIN CHECKED ALL TIRES AND ASSURED ME NO PROBLEM EXISTED. SIX THOUSAND MILES LATER, ANOTHER ROTATION AND ONCE AGAIN THE PROBLEM STARTS OCCURRING AGAIN. THE DEALER CHECKED TIRES AGAIN AND STILL CAN FIND NO PROBLEM. I THINK THERE IS A DEFINITE PROBLEM WITH SOME OF THE BRIDGESTONE TIRES THAT COME WITH THESE CIVICS. *TR
A/C STOPPED COOLING. TOOK MY '07 CIVIC (FEWER THAN 6500 MILES) TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD A ROCK DAMAGED MY CONDENSER. REPAIRS ARE ESTIMATED AT $550. GOT THE BEST WARRANTY I COULD WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR AND IT STILL WON'T COVER IT DUE TO "PHYSICAL DAMAGE". AFTER SOME RESEARCH ON THE TOPIC, I'VE NOTICED COUNTLESS WEBSITES AND BLOGS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. SEEMS LIKE A TEXTBOOK DESIGN FLAW TO ME. I CAN'T BELIEVE HONDA, WHO "STANDS FOR QUALITY" WOULD LIKE SOMETHING LIKE THIS KEEP HAPPENING TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. I'M GOING WITH THE CAMRY NEXT TIME. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT TOOK HER VEHICLE TO THE DEALER IN MARCH OF 2007 BECAUSE OF A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE NOISE OCCURRED EVERYTIME THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND PROVIDE A REMEDY. AS THE FAILURE CONTINUED, THE CONTACT WAS REPEATEDLY INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, SHE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 07V399000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTI-LOCK:WHEEL SPEED SENSOR). THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE NEVER BECAME WARM. THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING HIGH. THE VEHICLE MADE A BUMPING NOISE. THE CONTACT HAD TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKE IN ORDER TO DECELERATE. THE HONDA DEALER PLACED THE VEHICLE ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AND DETERMINED THE HIGH IDLING FAILURE, BUT COULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DROVE ANOTHER VEHICLE OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL AND THAT VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE IDLE SPEED WAS CONTROLLED BY THE COMPUTER WHICH DID NOT HAVE A SENSOR. THIS WAS THE REASON WHY THEY COULD NOT ASSIST HER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 615, AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23.*AK UPDATED 05/21/07. *JB
THE HONDA CIVIC SI MANUAL TRANSMISSION CAN BE VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVEN COLD. WHEN SHIFTING INTO THIRD GEAR THERE IS FEELING THAT THE GEAR ISN'T ALL THE WAY IN. WHEN THE CLUTCH IS RELEASED THE GEAR WILL POP OUT. THIS PROBLEM IS ALSO COMMON IN OTHER HONDA VEHICLE'S SUCH AS THE RSX. THIS PROBLEM INCREASES THE CHANCES OF BEING REAR ENDED AND ALSO PUTS TREMENDOUS WEAR ON THE TRANSMISSION AS THE GEAR POPS AND GRINDS. HONDA SERVICE TELLS ME THAT ITS IS MY DRIVING THAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM BUT OVER A THOUSAND THREADS HAS BEEN POSTED ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. HONDA HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM EXCEPT CALL US POOR DRIVERS. *JB
HELLO, I BOUGHT THE 2007 HONDA CIVIC BRAND NEW. THE SUN VISORS ON BOTH SIDES BUSTED WITHIN 2 MONTHS. THERE WAS NO UNUSUAL PRESSURE OR USE. GIVEN THE NUMBERED COMPLAINTS. I THOUGHT THIS SHOULD BE ESCALATED. WE MUST HAVE HONDA RESOLVE THE ISSUE DEFINITIVELY AND QUICKLY. BOTH FOR THE ONGOING SAFETY AND THE INEXPLICABLE RESIDUAL COST TO THE CONSUMER. RAPID AND UNEVEN TIRE WEAR WITHIN 5K MILES. WEARS DOWN TO BELT AND BECOMES VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. HAVE HAD TO BUY THREE SETS OF TIRES. ROTATE TIRES EVERY 3000 MILES. HONDA ADMITS TO INSTALLING FAULTY REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS BUT REFUSES TO REPLACE THEM UNLESS I PAY FOR THEM. IF A PART IS BAD FROM THE FACTORY WHY IS THE CUSTOMER RESPONSIBLE. *TR
1. 2007 HONDA CIVIC VISOR SPLIT WITHIN A MONTH OF PURCHASE. IT WAS STILL FUNCTIONAL DESPITE THE SPLIT, UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 9/27/10, WHEN IT STOPPED LOCKING IN PLACE AND STARTED INTERFERING WITH VISIBILITY. JUST LEARNED THAT MANY CIVIC OWNERS COMPLAIN OF THE SAME PROBLEM. 2. AT APPROXIMATELY 26,000 MILES, WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED WHILE PARKED OVERNIGHT, YET THERE WAS NO IMPACT. CRACK FORMED OVERNIGHT ON 9/30/10-10/1/10. WINDSHIELD WAS SMOOTH TO THE TOUCH FROM BOTH THE OUTSIDE AND INSIDE ALL ALONG THE LENGTH AND BREADTH OF THE CRACK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED IN THE MORNINGS, THE ENGINE BECOMES SLUGGISH DURING THE FIRST TWO MILES OF DRIVING. THE ENGINE DOES NOT STALL, BUT HAS LITTLE ACCELERATION POWER WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH. AFTER THE ENGINE HAS WARMED, THE VEHICLE OPERATES NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER 3 TIMES. FRONT BRAKE PADS REQUIRE REPLACEMENT EVERY 5K MILES OR SO SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. HONDA REPLACED THEM THE FIRST TIME BUT HAS SINCE TOLD ME THAT I BRAKE TOO HARD AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEIR DESIGN. I AM 50 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR YEARS...NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH ODOMETER. THEY INFORMED HER THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT GOING ON, BUT HER VEHICLE DIDN'T APPLY. THE LAWSUIT WAS FOR CONSUMERS WITH ODOMETER PROBLEMS. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE PART OF THE LAW SUIT. SHE STATED THAT THE ODOMETER READING IN THE VEHICLE WAS 750 MILES WHICH WAS NOT ACCURATE. *AK UPDATE 04/17/07 *TR
I BEGAN TO HAVE BACK AND NECK PAIN AFTER BUYING A HONDA CIVIC 2007. I FINALLY REALIZED THIS PAIN IS DUE TO THE FORWARD TILT OF THE HEADREST WHICH PUSHES MY HEAD FORWARD AND DOWN WHENEVER I AM SEATED IN THE CAR. I HAVE DEVELOPED SERIOUS NECK PROBLEMS REQUIRING TREATMENT, PHYSICAL THERAPY, AND POSSIBLE SURGERY IN THE FUTURE. THIS HEADREST DESIGN CAUSES PROBLEMS FOR PASSENGERS TOO. THESE HEADRESTS CANNOT BE ADJUSTED TO A COMFORTABLE POSITION. HUNDREDS OF DRIVERS ARE COMPLAINING ONLINE AND IN OTHER WAYS OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH HEADRESTS ON HONDA AND OTHER MAKES OF CARS MANUFACTURED TO US "SAFETY" REGULATIONS. THESE HEADRESTS HAVE CAUSED ADDITIONAL SAFETY CONCERNS AS DRIVERS MUST TRY TO ADAPT SEAT AND/OR HEADREST POSITIONS IN ORDER TO EXPERIENCE SOME RELIEF FROM THE PAIN CAUSED BY ABNORMAL BODY POSTURE. I CANNOT AFFORD A NEW CAR. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE NHTSA TO DEVELOP AND PROVIDE A SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEMS THEY HAVE CREATED WITH THIS DESIGN REGULATION OR TO ALLOW THE CAR MAKERS TO DO SO.
THE DESIGN OF THE HEAD RESTRAINTS FORCES THE HEAD AND NECK INTO AN ABNORMAL, UNCOMFORTABLE POSITION. THIS HAS CAUSED PAIN AND INJURY TO MY NECK AS A RESULT OF DRIVING IN THIS POSITION. I WANT HONDA TO PROVIDE REPLACEMENT HEAD RESTRAINTS WITH AN ALTERNATE DESIGN WHICH WILL ALLEVIATE THE BODILY STRESS CAUSED BY THIS AWKWARD POSITION. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2007. HUNDREDS OF OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE.
AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER COIL RECEIVED DAMAGE APPARENTLY CAUSED BT A PEBBLE THAT WAS KICKED UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONGST HONDA OWNERS FROM THE RESEARCH I'VE DONE, PARTICULARLY WITH LATE-MODEL HONDAS. THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO PROTECTION AGAINST SUCH AN EVENT AND THIS PART APPEARS MUCH TOO FRAGILE TO BE EXPOSED AS IT IS. THE CONDENSER MUST BE REPLACED AND I'M WAITING TO HEAR FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER WHETHER HE'LL COVER IT UNDER THE WARRANTY, BUT I'M EXPECTING TO HAVE TO FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM. *NM
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON MY 2007 CIVIC HAVE BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE CAR IN OCTOBER OF 2006. THE WIPERS STREAK SO BADLY THAT I CANNOT SEE OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD SAFELY. UPON TAKING THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY ADMIT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH OTHER VEHICLES, BUT THAT THE NEW WIPERS ARE ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX. THEY HAVE USED SEVERAL DIFFERENT COMPOUNDS ON THE WINDSHIELD TO ATTEMPT TO "ERASE" WHATEVER PROBLEMS ARE CAUSING THIS ISSUE. THEY HAVE USED A "CLAY" THAT IS USED IN BODY SHOPS TO "SCRUB" DOWN THE WINDOW. THIS WORKS MOMENTARILY. THERE IS A BIGGER ISSUE THAT HONDA IS NOT YET ADDRESSING. THEY CLAIM THAT IT IS THE ELEMENTS WHICH ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS PROBLEM. I REFUSE TO AGREE WITH THIS AS THIS IS MY 5TH NEW VEHICLE, AND THE OTHER 4 HAD WIPERS THAT WORKED PERFECTLY FOR OVER 2 YEARS BEFORE NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION SHIFTS BADLY, AND THERE HAVE BEEN OCCASIONS WHEN IT WON'T GO INTO GEAR. ALSO, WHEN COLD, AND IN LOWER GEARS, IT IS VERY HESITANT AND CHOPPY. I BELIEVE IT'S THE THROTTLE. THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW OCCASIONS WHEN I'VE STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AND IT'S TRIED TO MOVE FORWARD. HONDA SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR. THEY TREAT ME AS IF I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE. *TR
THIRD GEAR ON MY '07 HONDA CIVIC SI COUPE IS BOTH FREQUENTLY IMPOSSIBLE TO ENGAGE (EVERY THIRD OR FOURTH SHIFT CHANGE) AND POPS OUT OF GEAR DURING DRIVING (TYPICALLY 2-3 TIMES AN HOUR DURING CONTINUOUS DRIVING). THIS POSES POTENTIAL DANGERS WHILE DRIVING AS THERE IS FAILURE IN THE APPLICATION OF POWER TO THE DRIVEN WHEELS, WHICH IS ESSENTIAL FOR CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. THE ISSUE IS KNOWN TO BE COMMON IN THE 6 SPEED SI TRANSMISSION. HONDA DENIES THE ISSUE, STATING THAT THE ENGAGEMENT PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY NOT FULLY DEPRESSING THE CLUTCH. I ALWAYS FULLY DEPRESS THE CLUTCH WHEN SHIFTING, HAVE DRIVEN MANUALLY TRANSMISSION VEHICLES FOR 41 YEARS, AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH ANY VEHICLE, LET ALONE A GEARSHIFT WHICH POPS OUT OF GEAR DURING NORMAL DRIVING). THE FAILURE TO ENGAGE IS PROBABLY MORE AN ANNOYANCE THAN AN ISSUE, HOWEVER THE POPPING OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING IS A SERIOUS ROAD HAZARD AND RISK; FOR EXAMPLE, IF ONE IS CORNERING ON SNOW COVERED OR WET PAVEMENT, THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER TO THE DRIVEN WHEELS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO VEER OFF COURSE AND RESULT IN A CRASH. THE UNFORTUNATE DRIVER WHO DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZE THE LOSS OF POWER TRANSMISSION, OR WHAT TO DO TO RECOVER, IS CERTAINLY PLACED IN A HIGHLY COMPROMISED POSITION, TO SAY THE LEAST, AND AT WORST MAY FIND HIM OR HERSELF IN A VEHICLE WHICH IS TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY HONDA TO EITHER ACKNOWLEDGE OR CORRECT THE ISSUE. THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. THIS PAST WEEKEND, I TOOK MY CAR TO ANOTHER PLACE FOR THE ALIGNMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAD A SUSPENSION PROBLEM, THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE WEARING UNEVENLY AND INAPPROPRIATELY. RESEARCHING THE INTERNET, I LOCATED NUMEROUS HONDA CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS. I FOUND THAT HONDA HAS KNOWN OF THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2006 AND NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM.
