TAKATA RECALL - HONDA HAS NOT ISSUED A FIX. HAVE BEEN WAITING 8 MONTHS (SINCE MAY 2016).

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL- IT HAS BEEN 60+ DAYS SINCE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED AND HONDA TELLS ME THAT THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN PARTS WILL BE IN. THEY HAVE FAILED TO ASSIGN ME A CASE MANAGER TO REVIEW MY RENTAL REQUEST IN A TIMELY MANNER. WE HAVE 4 PASSENGERS DAILY IN THIS CAR (2 ADULTS IN FRONT, 2 SMALL CHILDREN IN LARGE CAR SEATS IN THE BACK). WE CANNOT TRAVEL SAFELY AS THIS IS OUR ONLY CAR. WE CANNOT SIMPLY AVOID HAVING SOMEONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. WE NEED A RENTAL WHICH HONDA SAID THEY WILL PROVIDE IN THIS TYPE OF SITUATION BUT THEY HAVE NOT TIMELY ASSIGNED US A CASE MANAGER TO REVIEW OUR REQUEST. THEY HAVE ADMITTED NO ETA ON THE PARTS. THEY TOLD US WE CAN RENT OUR OWN CAR, BUT WE CAN'T AFFORD THAT WITH NO END DATE IN SIGHT. THEY STATED WE ARE NOT AS IMPORTANT AS THE DRIVER SIDE RECALL. THEY HAVE NOT REMEDIED THE DEFECT IN A REASONABLE PERIOD OF TIME. I HAVE MADE A REPAIR APPOINTMENT BUT NO ETA ON PARTS. PLEASE HELP ME. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PANIC ATTACKS AND HAVE NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR THE ANXIETY THIS HAS CAUSED IN MY DAILY LIFE, FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS. THANK YOU. *TR

TAKATA RECALL - INITIAL LETTER DETAILING THE PROBLEM WAS RECEIVED MAY 23 2016 STATING THAT A REMEDY WOULD BE AVAILABLE LATE SUMMER/FALL 2016. AS OF 10/31/16 THE NHTSA WEBSITE STILL SHOWS REMEDY UNAVAILABLE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE - I CAN NO LONGER AFFORD TO NOT USE THE FULL FUNCTION OF MY VEHICLE, SPECIFICALLY USING THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. 5 MONTHS IS TOO LONG WHEN WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY SINCE I LIVE IN A HOT AND RELATIVELY HUMID CLIMATE.

TAKATA RECALL: WE RECEIVED OUR RECALL NOTICE EARLIER THIS YEAR FOR A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG SYSTEM. WE WERE TOLD REPLACEMENT PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE BY SUMMER/EARLY FALL. IT IS DECEMBER 14 AND WE ARE STILL WAITING. IN THE MEANTIME WE HAVE TO DRIVE OUR CAR, CANNOT USE THE PASSENGER SIDE, WHICH IS A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE, AND ARE WORRIED AND FEAR FOR OUR SAFETY WITH THIS VEHICLE WHILE WE WAIT. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND WE ARE EXTREMELY FED UP WITH THE SITUATION. NOT ONLY THIS, BUT WE ARE CLASSIFIED AS A HIGH RISK DUE TO THE PART OF THE COUNTRY WE LIVE IN (GEORGIA) AND ARE SUPPOSED TO RECEIVE PRIORITY TREATMENT DUE TO OUR HEAT AND HIGH HUMIDITY, WHICH ARE APPARENTLY A FACTOR WITH THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG(S). EVERY TIME WE CALL OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP, THEY STATE THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE YET. PLEASE HELP!

ACCORDING TO THE EQUIPMENT DEFECT NOTIFICATIONS (16E-042 AND 16E-043) FILED BY TAKATA, THE PROPELLANT WAFERS IN SOME OF THE SUBJECT INFLATORS MAY DEGRADE OVER TIME, WHICH COULD LEAD TO OVER-AGGRESSIVE COMBUSTION IN THE EVENT THE AIRBAG IS ACTIVATED. OVERLY AGGRESSIVE COMBUSTION CREATES EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE WHEN THE INFLATOR IS ACTIVATED, WHICH MAY CAUSE THE INFLATOR BODY TO RUPTURE. HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED. SAFETY RISK: IN THE EVENT OF AN INFLATOR RUPTURE, METAL FRAGMENTS COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION MATERIAL POSSIBLY CAUSING INJURY TO VEHICLE OCCUPANT. TAKATA RECALL RECALL FOR PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR WAS ISSUED 5/23/16. RECALL NOTED THAT REMEDY PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE LATE SUMMER/FALL OF 2016. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA AND WAS TOLD PARTS STILL ARE NOT AVAILABLE. IT HAS NOW BEEN 8 MONTHS WITH NO REMEDY AVAILABLE, WHICH IS EXTREMELY TROUBLESOME AS HONDA RECOMMENDS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED. TAKATA RECALL. I'M NOT SURE WHAT CONSTITUTES A TIMELY RECALL OR REPAIR, BUT IT'S BEEN 6 MONTHS SINCE ANYBODY HAS BEEN ABLE TO SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT AND I'M SICK OF LOOKING LIKE AN UBER DRIVER. I'M ALSO NOT CONVINCED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG IS SAFE, AND I'D RATHER NOT RECEIVE A MOLTEN HUNK OF METAL THROUGH MY NECK FOR THE SIN OF HAVING A FENDER BENDER. ALL IN ALL I AM A VERY UNHAPPY HONDA OWNER. ,
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. ALL THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND METAL FRAGMENTS EMITTED FROM THE AIR BAGS. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V346000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
I'VE HAD/HAVING SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC THAT I BOUGHT BRAND NEW. MY BACK TIRES HAVE WORN VERY UNEVENLY OVER THE YEARS AND BECAUSE OF THIS CAR EATING TIRES I'VE REPLACED TIRES ALMOST EVERY 2 YEARS. THERE IS ALSO A POPPING SOUND WHEN DRIVING WHEN YOU MAKE A TIGHT TURN. I'VE ALSO HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY A/C. I'VE HAD THE BLOWER FAN STOP WORKING AND SOME COMPONENT RELATING TO IT REPLACED 3 TIMES. MY A/C RECENTLY STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR AFTER IT SPIT OUT FROZEN FREON THROUGH MY VENTS. MECHANIC HAS TOLD ME MY FREON WAS EMPTY AND COMPRESSOR LOCKED UP. NOW I NEED TO THROW MONEY ($1400) AT THIS REPAIR AS WELL!...UPDATED 07/19/16 *BF
TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT THE RECALL SOMETIME THE BEGINNING OF 2016. THEY STATED THAT THE REMEDY WOULD BE READY LATE SUMMER OR EARLY FALL 2017. IT ADVISED ME TO NOT LET ANYONE RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL IS TAKEN CARE OF. IT IS NOW MID JANUARY 2017 AND NO WORD. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT, WITH A FAMILY OF 5, FOR SOMEONE TO NOT BE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT SEEMS THEY NEED TO MAKE THIS A A HIGHER PRIORITY AND TAKE CARE OF THIS IMMEDIATELY. STILL WAITING FOR ANY INFORMATION FROM THEM.
THERE IS UNEVEN WEAR ON MY TIRES WHICH HAS CAUSED LARGE VIBRATIONS WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND VERY DANGEROUS HANDLING IN SLIPPERY CONDITIONS. I JUST REPLACED MY TIRES, WHICH THE PREVIOUS OWNER (I BOUGHT IT FROM HIM IN OCTOBER 2014) STATED WERE ALMOST NEW AT PURCHASE TIME. THE INNER EDGE OF EACH TIRE WAS WORN DOWN. I ALSO BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR ALIGNMENT TODAY AND FOUND THAT THE REAR CAMBER IS NEGATIVE 2.5 DEGREES ON BOTH SIDES, BUT THAT CAMBER IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. THIS CAMBER ISSUE, PLUS REGULAR TIRE ROTATIONS, ALMOST CERTAINLY CAUSED THE INNER EDGE WEAR ON EACH TIRE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HONDA CIVICS OF THE 06-08 ERA (SEE 2008 SERVICE BULLETIN, ATTACHED), BUT HONDA IS NO LONGER PERFORMING FIXES, AND THE FIX DID NOT NECESSARILY RECTIFY THE TIRE WEAR ISSUE. I HAVE BRAND NEW TIRES TODAY, BUT I EXPECT THAT THEY WILL ALSO WEAR OUT LONG BEFORE THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY EXPIRES... IT SEEMS THAT MY LAST TIRES LASTED ONLY ABOUT 25K BEFORE THE CAR FELT UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
MY HONDA CIVIC HAS COMPLETELY OVERHEATED THREE TIMES TO THE POINT OF NEEDING TO REPLACE THE HEAD GASKET, WATER PUMP, RADIATOR AND COILS. ONCE WAS IN 2014, AGAIN IN 2018 AND NOW IN 2020. IT IS NOW DISCOVERED THE CAUSE OF ALL THESE OVER HEATING PROBLEMS OVER THE YEARS WAS DUE TO A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK WHICH THERE WAS A 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE. I TOOK MY CIVIC INTO BRANDON HONDA IN FLORIDA ON MARCH 5TH, 2016 AND NOTHING WAS SAID OR DONE RELATING TO THE ISSUE OF THE CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK WHICH HONDA HAD BEEN FULLY AWARE OF SINCE AT LEAST 2014 WHERE IT WAS STATED ON CONSUMER REPORTS. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION TWICE, ONCE ON A HIGHWAY AND IT WAS DUE TO THE ENGINE OVER HEATING EVERY TIME; BOTH SITUATIONS PUT MYSELF AND VEHICLE IN DANGER. I MAINTAINED MY RADIATOR AS WELL AS WATER PUMP AND HAVE HAD THEM REPLACED EACH TIME SO CLEARLY THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM WAS THE CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK.
MY WIPERS WON'T PARK IN THE "PARK LOCATION" (THEY STAY IN THE MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD) AND WHEN I PRESS THE SWITCH UPWARDS FOR ONE SWIPE, THE WIPERS WILL CONTINUE FOR MULTIPLE CYCLES AND THEN FINALLY STOP IN A RANDOM SPOT ON THE WINDSHIELD. OCCASIONALLY, ALL THREE SPEEDS ON THE SWITCH(HI,MED,LOW), ARE ALL THE SAME (LOW SPEED). HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY. HAS BECOME A NUISANCE IN VERY LIGHT RAIN BECAUSE IT WILL CONTINUE ONCE THE WINDSHIELD IS DRY AND CAN BE A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS VISIBILITY ISSUE FOR THE DRIVER.
I AM CONSTANTLY HAVING TO BUY NEW TIRES FOR THIS CAR, LIKE AT LEAST 2 TIRES A YEAR. THEY WEAR DOWN UNEVENLY AND IN ORDER TO PASS INSPECTION I'M CONSTANTLY HAVING TO ROTATE AND BUY NEW ONES. I'M NOT MADE OF MONEY AND TIRES ARE EXPENSIVE. I'M A STAY AT HOME MOM, SO I'M NOT EVEN OUT DRIVING DAILY OR GOING ON LONG ROAD TRIPS.

1. I SEE AIRBAGS WARNING IN MY CAR BUT IT IS NOT IN THE RECALL LIST. 2. DRIVER SIDE SUNVISOR IS NOT WORKING. 3. IN INITIAL YEARS, HAD TO CHANGE THE BRAKES SO MANY TIMES (ALMOST EVERY YEAR) - NO RECEIPTS ARE SAVED.
THE WIPER MOTOR OR WIPER CONTROL MODULE IS KNOWN TO STOP WORKING CORRECTLY ON 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHEN THE TEMPERATURE LOWERS DURING WINTER THE WIPERS DO NOT SEAT CORRECTLY AND SOMETIMES WILL NOT TURN OFF AFTER BEING USED. THEY WILL SOMETIMES STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD BLOCKING THE DRIVERS VIEW UNTIL THEY ARE MOVED AGAIN. THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE SURE THAT THE WIPERS STOP IN THE CORRECT PARKED SPOT. THIS CAUSES THE DRIVER TO CONTINUE TO ACTIVATE THE WIPERS UNTIL THEY ARE CLEAR OF THE FIELD OF VIEW. THE CAUSES EXTRA WEAR AND TEAR ON THE WIPER BLADES, CAUSING THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE TO HAVE TO PURCHASE MORE WIPER BLADES THAN NEEDED. LIVING IN WASHINGTON STATE, WHERE IT RAINS QUIET A BIT, THIS MAKES ME HAVE TO SPEND EXTRA MONEY ON WIPER BLADES. HONDA HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THE WIPER MOTOR. THEIR SUGGESTION IS TO HAVE THE WIPER MOTOR REPLACED, WHICH I HAVE DONE ONCE ALREADY IN THE WINTER OF 2013. AS OF THIS WINTER, 2015-2016, THE WIPERS HAVE BEGAN TO NOT PARK CORRECTLY AFTER BEING USED AGAIN, AGAIN BLOCKING THE DRIVERS FIELD OF VIEW WHILE DRIVING. IT WOULD TAKE A SHORT INTERNET SEARCH TO SEE THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. HONDA HAS ALREADY SAID THEY WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL, BUT I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE AND OTHER SIMILAR MODELS. THIS SAFETY ISSUE HAPPENS ALL ALL TIMES WITH THE VEHICLE, WHETHER IT'S AT SLOW OR HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
UNKNOWN. This has been an ongoing problem for years. I finally retired and had enough time to trace it down Water was getting on the floor of my car on passenger side after substantial rainfall. Extended shoulder harness webbing as far as it would go and found webbing soaking wet from water on last 2 feet of webbing that could be exposed and assume webbing still wet hidden within sidewall panel. (Nobody used the shoulder harness on passenger side of car) Taped off sunroof and doors on that side and found when using a water hose, water was getting into the passenger shoulder harness area and also dripping out of shoulder harness sidewall height adjuster. Removed the roof moulding trim strip on right side of roof, inspected, found no body seam sealant had been applied at the factory in the area where roof and side panel of car was spot welded when manufactured. Welds are still ok but an exposed gap was missing body seam-sealant along the area starting about 18 inches aft of windshield. I purchased seam sealant at body shop and applied seam sealant myself. Rechecked for leakage after sealant cure. Was ok. Re-installed roof moulding trim strip. Not sure if any water damage has occurred to shoulder harness mechanism. No apparent binding of mechanism at this time.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED YELLOW, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR THE CONTACT TO DRIVE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (LUTHER BROOKDALE HONDA, LOCATED AT 6800 BROOKLYN BLVD, BROOKLYN CENTER, MN 55429; (612) 424-7830) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLIGHT LENSES NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. CRACKED ENGINE CAUSED MY CAR COOLANT LEAKING. I TOOK IT TO THE 2 REPAIR CENTER. THEY ARE AGREEING IT IS MANUFACTURER DEFECT. HONDA DEALER IS REPAIRING THOSE CARS WITH FREE BUT WON'T DO MINE BECAUSE MINE IS SALVAGE TITLED. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS SINCE I BOUGHT IT 3 YEARS AGO. I DON'T THINK IT IS FAIR. THE PROBLEM IS ORIGINATED FROM THE FACTORY. THEY ARE AVOIDING RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE SIMPLY IT IS SALVAGE TITLED. ON MY 2007 CIVIC EX, THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR POPPED OPEN AT THE PARTING LINE NEAR THE HINGE AND THE PLASTIC RIBS INSIDE BROKE. IT DOES NOT WANT TO SNAP BACK INTO PLACE IN ANY DIRECTION (FRONT, BACK, OR SIDE). IT HANGS SO LOW THAT IT IS BLOCKING THE VIEW OF THE ROAD (FRONT WINDSHIELD AND DRIVER SIDE WINDOW) AT ALL TIMES. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH HONDA THAT IT IS NOT LISTED AS A SAFETY CONCERN...BECAUSE IT IS.
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FELL APART. THIS STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. IT STARTED OFF BEING ANNOYING. WE HAD TO MANUALLY HOLD THE VISOR TOGETHER TO PUT IT UP OR DOWN. IT FINALLY BROKE APART AND CAN'T EVEN BE PUT BACK ON.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI COUPE AT APPROXIMATELY 10-20MPH. WITHOUT WARNING MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED (2 AIRBAGS IN TOTAL). THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WAS LOUD, SHOCKED ME, AND FILLED MY CAR WITH SMOKE. I INITIALLY THOUGHT I WAS HIT; HOWEVER NO CARS WERE ON MY PASSENGER SIDE OR ABLE TO HIT ME. I PULLED OVER AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO MY CAR (OTHER THAN THE INSIDE WHERE THE AIRBAGS NOW DEPLOYED). MY AIRBAG LIGHT WAS NOT ON PRIOR TO DEPLOYMENT. THERE WAS NO SORT OF IMPACT AND ABSOLUTELY NO INDICATION/REASON THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. IF SOMEONE WAS SITTING ON MY PASSENGER SIDE, THEY COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. IF THE DRIVER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED AND/OR POSSIBLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND VERY CONCERNING MALFUNCTION THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A LOT WORSE.
THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BROKE IN JULY 2015 ALONG THE JOINT WHERE THE ROD RUNS THROUGH IT. HAD GONE TO A FRIEND'S HOUSE, AND WHEN I WENT BACK OUT TO MY CAR, THE SUN VISOR WAS BROKEN. NOTHING ELSE HAD HAPPENED TO THE CAR; JUST THE BROKEN SUN VISOR. SUN VISOR NOW CONSTANTLY HANGS DOWN VERTICALLY, OBSTRUCTING VIEW. ONLY TEMPORARY SOLUTION IS PUSHING THE VISOR TO THE SIDE, BUT THAT OBSTRUCTS THE VIEW OF TRAFFIC ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. PROBLEM OCCURRED ABOUT ONE YEAR OUTSIDE HONDA'S EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE VISOR. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO.

IN 2011 HONDA SETTLED A CLASS ACTION SUIT INVOLVING DEFECTIVE SUN VISORS. MY CAR HAD BOTH VISORS REPLACED IN, I BELIEVE, 2012. BOTH ARE CRACKED JUST AS THE ORIGINALS WERE. THE DANGER IS IN THE DRIVER SIDE DEFECTIVE SUN VISOR. IT CAN FLOP DOWN UNPREDICTABLY AND AND DISTRACT THE DRIVER. IF IT FLOPS DOWN HALFWAY, ITS EDGE IS AIMED AT MY FOREHEAD AND INJURE ME. THE ONLY INEXPENSIVE AND QUICK REPAIR IS A BINDER CLIP ATTACHED TO THE BROKEN PARTS TO HOLD THEM TOGETHER.
THE PAINT STARTED TO PEEL AT ONLY 65,000 MILES, BACK IN 2015. THE CAR, AT THAT POINT, WAS 8 YEARS OLD. IT PEELED IN LITERALLY JUST A FEW MONTHS TIME. IT'S NOW PATCHY ON THE HOOD, ROOF AND TRUNK.
