I DO NOT OFTEN DRIVE A NIGHT BUT IN RECENT MONTHS, WHEN I DID DRIVE AT NIGHT, I HAD SIGNIFICANT DIFFICULTY SEEING THE HIGHWAY. I THOUGHT "WELL, IT MUST BE MY AGE" SO I DECIDED TO BUY GE NIGHTHAWK BULBS TO REPLACE THE OEM (SYLVANIA DOT G0708 USA)BULBS. I BOUGHT THE NIGHTHAWK BULBS BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE 30% GREATER LIGHT. TODAY (12/29/2010) I DECIDED TO REMOVE THE OEM BULBS AND INSTALL THE GE NIGHTHAWK BULBS. WHEN I REMOVED THE OEM LOW BEAM BULBS I NOTICED THERE WAS A TAN COATING INSIDE THE BULB THAT EXTENDED FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE BULB TO SLIGHTLY ABOVE THE TIP OF THE BULB BEYOND MIDWAY AS THEY BULB IS INSTALLED. THERE WAS ALSO SOME OF THE TAN SUBSTANCE AT THE BASE OF THE BULB. FROM THE AMOUNT OF COATING INSIDE THE BULB I AM GUESSING LIGHT VOLUME WOULD HAVE BEEN REDUCED BY 40% OR MORE. WHEN I REMOVED THE HIGH BEAM BULBS THEY WERE PERFECTLY CLEAR; AS THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN. THERE IS NO WAY THE LOW BEAM BULBS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THAT CLOUDED GIVEN THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR AND THE LITTLE DRIVING I DO AT NIGHT. I HAVE SAVED THE BULBS AND I WILL SEND THEM TO YOU SHOULD YOU WANT TO TEST THEIR LIGHT OUTPUT. I CAN ALSO SEND A SCANNED IMAGE IF A BULB WHICH APPROXIMATES THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT IN HONDA CIVIC CARS, AT RISK, BECAUSE OF POOR LIGHT OUTPUT FROM THE LOW BEAM HEAD LAMPS? IF IT WERE ONLY ONE IT IS ONE TOO MANY.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC WITH MY DAUGHTER, AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 50MPH. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A STOP FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I REALIZED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT WANTING TO STOP, I PRESSED HARDER ON THE BRAKE. WHEN IT CAME TO A STOP, THE ENGINE WAS REVVING AT HIGH RPMS, I LET UP ON THE BRAKE SLIGHTLY TO SEE IF THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT DOWN WHEN IT LUNGED FORWARD. I SLAMMED THE BRAKE DOWN AGAIN AND REACHED FOR THE DOWNSHIFT, WHEN AT THE SAME TIME THE ENGINE CAME DOWN TO AN IDLE. THE ACCELERATOR HAD OBVIOUSLY BEEN STUCK. I HAD STOPPED THE VEHICLE OVER THE WHITE LINE WITH MY NOSE OUT IN THE INTERSECTION. NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME & NO ONE NEXT TO ME, THANKFULLY. I CALLED A LOCAL HONDA DEALER, MADE AN APPT FOR THAT AFTERNOON. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE WAITING IN THE CUSTOMER AREA FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES WHEN WE WERE INFORMED BY THE DEALER EMPLOYEE THAT THE TWO MECHANICS HAD CALLED IN & SAID THAT THEY HAD DUPLICATED THE ACTION I REPORTED & THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO BE ON THE ROAD, FOR US TO LEAVE IT & THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. THE MECHANIC WHO DROVE IT, CONFIRMED IT TO ME PERSONALLY. THE CARS COMPUTER DIDN'T REGISTER THE TWO EVENTS. THE DEALER TOLD US THEY COULDN'T FIX IT IF THE COMPUTER WOULDN'T TELL THEM WHAT TO FIX. HONDA'S REGIONAL REP WAS CALLED IN ON JAN 10 & DEEMED IT AS SAFE TO DRIVE. (HONDA'S REP DEEMED THE CAR THAT THE DEALER EMPLOYEE HAD TOLD US WAS "UNSAFE TO BE ON THE ROAD" AS BEING "SAFE"!). JAN 10, WE REQUESTED TO SPEAK WITH HONDA REP, JAN 11, NO CONTACT FROM HONDA REP AFTER SERVICE MANAGER LEFT 1 VOICE MAIL, 2 E-MAILS. (ASKED FOR REPS #, REFUSED) SWITCHED COURTESY CARS WITH DEALER, REQUESTED THE "DESCRIPTION" OF EVENTS ON SERVICE TICKET REFLECT THE TWO MECHANICS STATEMENT ABOUT EXPERIENCING THE "STUCK ACCELERATOR". JAN 12, STILL WAITING TO SPEAK WITH HONDA REP AND REVISED SERVICE TICKET. DEALER STILL HAS OUR HONDA. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF & OTHERS IF I DRIVE IT WITHOUT HONDA REPAIRING IT. TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM LIGHT ACTIVATED. CAR HAS BEEN TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM NINE TIMES WITH THE MOST RECENT VISIT JUNE 16, 2012. *TR
THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW BY ME. I AM IN LOVE WITH ALL BUT THE DRIVERS (LEFT) SIDE SUNVISOR. IT BROKE APART AT THE SEAMS. THE HINGE IS HANGING OUT AND IT IS UNUSABLE. I HAVE TRIED VARIOUS METHODS TO MAKE IT USABLE. THIS PRODUCT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OCCURS. *TR
OVER TIME, THE PLASTIC PORTION OF MY DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR ROTTED AND BROKE SO THAT THE VISOR IS CONSTANTLY DOWN. BECAUSE OF THIS, MY FIELD OF VISION IS ALWAYS RESTRICTED. IF I TAPE THE VISOR UP, FREQUENTLY I'M BLINDED BY THE SUN OR OTHER BRIGHT LIGHTS. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA REGARDING THIS DEFECT, BUT AS YET, THEY WON'T FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
I'VE NOTICED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT BROKEN SUN VISORS. MY 08 CIVIC HYBRID GOT A CRACK IN THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR. PRIOR TO THAT, IT WAS ALWAYS VERY HARD TO SWING THE VISOR TO THE SIDE OR TO CLIP IT BACK IN. MAYBE SOMETHING WAS TOO TIGHT, AND THAT'S WHY IT EVENTUALLY CRACKED. MY DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, IF IT HAD HAPPENED A COUPLE MONTHS LATER THEY WOULDN'T HAVE. SOUNDS LIKE THERE'S A DEFECT IN THE VISORS AND HONDA NEEDS TO REPLACE THEM EVEN IF THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
THE FENDERS ON THIS MODEL OF HONDA ARE MERELY TACKED ON. MY CAR WAS LIGHTLY BUMPED FOUR TIMES AND THE FENDERS HAD TO BE REPAIRED. THEY ONLY HAVE A MINIMUM OF CONNECTORS HOLDING ONTO THEM. THE OLD FASHION BUMPERS WOULD PREVENT THIS. UPDATED 01/20/11 *BF
I HAVE 2008 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID HAD NO PROBLEMS UNTIL AUGUST 2010 WHEN THEY SENT A LETTER TO HAVE A SOFTWARE UPGRADE FOR THE IMA INTEGRATED MOTOR ASSIST BATTERY AFTER HAVING THE UPGRADE I HAD LOSS OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATION THE IMA SEEMS TOWORK 50-75 PERCENT LESS THEN WHAT IT USE TOO ALSO MY BATTERY INDICATOR HAD NEVER BEEN DOWN TO 4 BARS BEFORE THE UPGRADE BUT AFTER IT WAS DONE SEEMS LIKE IT WANTS TO STAY RIGHT AT 4 MOST OF THE TIME SO INTURN THE IMA DOESN'T USE THE BATTERY I HAVE LOSE 10+ MPG I USE TO GET 45-48 NOW I GET 32-35 SO NOW ITS LIKE DRIVING A UNDER POWERED CIVIC THE WORST IS WHEN YOU TRY TO TAKE OFF OR IF YOU NEED TO ACCELERATE TO MERGE ON THE FREEWAY YOU MIGHT HAVE SOME IMA OR NOT YOU JUST DON'T KNOW. *TR
THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC EX-L BROKE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALER REPLACED IT. NOW, OUT OF WARRANTY, THE VISOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS BROKEN. I HAVE NOT PURSUED ANY ACTION FROM HONDA, YET. I HAVE BEEN READING ON-LINETHAT THIS IS A FREQUENT COMPLAINT AND I WANTED FILE MY OWN COMPLAINT TO ADD TO THE OTHERS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE REAR ENDED A TRUCK. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED (OTHER INJURIES WERE NOT REPORTED). A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
OUR STANDARD 2008 CIVIC EX (BOUGHT JUNE 2008) STARTED TO HAVE VARIABLE VIBRATION/SHUTTERING ISSUES FROM IDLE/STOP TO 1ST AND 2ND GEAR AROUND 28,000 MILES (NEW CIVIC, WE ARE THE ONLY OWNERS, NO ACCIDENTS). THE SHUTTERING STOPPED AFTER THE CAR WAS IN HIGHER GEARS. THIS VIBRATION ISSUE WORSENED AND WE COULD NOT SAFELY ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WHEN SHIFTING FROM AN IDLE POSITION INTO 1ST GEAR - DUE TO EXTREME VIBRATIONS, WHICH BECAME MORE FREQUENT. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AROUND 35000 MILES ON NOVEMBER 17, 2010, TO DETERMINE/CORRECT THE SHUTTERING/VIBRATION ISSUES. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE. THE SHUTTERING/VIBRATION CONTINUED AND WE DECIDED TO REPLACE ALL OF OUR TIRES AT OUR COST AROUND 40,000 MILES TO SEE IF THIS WOULD CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE VIBRATION/SHUTTERING CONTINUED AT VARIABLE TIMES. AT 41,000 MILES, THE VIBRATION/SHUTTERING BECAME IMPACTFUL AND WE COULD NOT SAFELY ACCELERATE FROM AN IDLE POSITION WITHOUT THE CAR SHAKING/NOT ENGAGING EFFECTIVELY. WE TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER AGAIN ON FEBRUARY 3, 2011 AND THE TECHNICIAN REPLICATED THE ISSUE WITH US IN THE CAR. THEY INDICATED THEY LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE MOTOR MOUNTS AND "LOOKED" AT THE CLUTCH (NOT INSPECTED). THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT AND IT WAS DUE TO THE WAY WE DROVE THE VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THEIR TECHNICIAN REPLICATED THE ISSUE. THEY SAID HONDA DOES NOT HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THIS ISSUE VIA THE PHONE TECHNICAL LINE. WE DID NOT TAKE THE CAR BACK DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS AND IT IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP. WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, AS IT WILL NOT ENGAGE/ACCELERATE PROPERLY WITHOUT SHUTTERING WHEN SHIFTING FROM IDLE INTO 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM WAS CAUSING THE TIRES TO WEAR PREMATURELY AND THE REAR TIRES WERE REPLACED AT EXTREMELY LOW MILEAGE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SECURE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED HE WAS AWARE OF OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL WITH THE SAME FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON HIS VEHICLE (RECALL INFORMATION WAS UNAVAILABLE). THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER FOR THE RECALL AND AFTER THE COMPONENT WAS REPAIRED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN GETTING LESS MPG THAN WHAT IT WAS PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,200.
2008 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID IMA DASH LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AT APPROXIMATELY 31,000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE INTEGRATED MOTOR ASSIST LIGHT ON THE DASH AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I STOPPED AND READ THAT THIS INDICATED A PROBLEM WITH THE INTEGRATED MOTOR ASSIST AND THAT PERFORMANCE WOULD BE AFFECTED WHICH IT WAS. ACCELERATION WAS SLUGGISH AND SLOW FROM A STAND STILL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY AND WAS ASKED IF I HAD RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE WHICH I SAID I HAD NOT. THEY SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT REQUIRED A SOFTWARE UPGRADE. I LEFT THE CAR FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND WHEN I RETURNED THEY SAID THAT THEY FLASHED THE COMPUTER AND DID AN UPGRADE. AFTER THIS THERE WERE NO MORE PROBLEMS. I HAVE LOOKED AT NHTSA AND HONDA SITE AND THERE IS NO MENTION OF THIS PROBLEM OR A RECALL LISTED ON ANY SITE. I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THIS MAY BE A PROBLEM. THANK YOU. *TR
2008 HONDA CIVIC. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE AND BRAKES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY FOR 20 -30 MINUTES AT A TIME WHILE DRIVING. THE AC KNOB WAS TURNED ON, BUT THE BLOWER WAS NOT WORKING. WHEN THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER, SHE WAS INFORMED DYE HAD BEEN PLACED IN THE AC SYSTEM AND TO RETURN IN 3 WEEKS TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY LEAKS. THE CONSUMER RETURNED 3 WEEKS LATER AND NO LEAKS WERE FOUND. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONSUMER THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE UNLESS AC/HEATER BLOWER WAS NOT WORKING AT THE TIME. IN DECEMBER 2009, WHILE IT WAS RAINING, THE WINDSHIELD BECAME FOGGED, BECAUSE THE BLOWER WAS NOT WORKING. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE DEALER IN TIME FOR THEM TO WITNESS, THAT THE AC/ HEATER BLOWER WAS NOT WORKING, BUT AS THE TECHNICIAN WENT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE INTO THE SERVICE BAY, IT BEGAN WORKING AGAIN. ON ONE OCCASION WHEN THE CONSUMER ARRIVED AT THE DEALER, THE BLOWER WAS NOT WORKING, BUT WHEN THE DOOR WAS CLOSED, IT BEGAN WORKING AGAIN. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THERE IS A WIRING PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE ENGINE WOULD SURGE WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. *JB
I'VE HAD MY CIVIC 2008 SUN VISOR REPLACED THREE TIMES. IT APPEARS THAT THE SUN VISOR PLASTIC PARTS FAIL WITH HEAT (HOT DAYS). THE PASSENGER SIDE JUST FAILED AGAIN; THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME. *TR
2008 HONDA CIVIC REPEATEDLY HAS FAILED TO STOP (THREE SEPARATE INCIDENTS, THREE DIFFERENT DRIVERS). HONDA REFUSES TO REPLACE VEHICLE. *TR THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. UPDATED 09/20/12
MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR HAS SPLIT AND WON'T STAY UP SO WHEN NIGHT COMES MY FIELD OF VISION IS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED AND HAMPERED. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH HONDA BUT NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. *TR
HONDA GAVE US A WARNING THAT OUR CIVIC COULD LOSE IT'S COOLANT AND BREAK DOWN. THEY REFUSE TO DO A RECALL. WE COMPLAINED TO THE STATE OF OREGON AND THEY AGREED WITH US BUT COULD NOT GET HONDA TO RECALL OUR CAR JUST EXTEND THE WARRANTY. WE ARE RETIRED AND PURCHASED THE CAR TO DRIVE TO LA TO VISIT OUR GRANDCHILDREN AND ARE NOW AFRAID TO DO SO AS WE CAN'T LOOK FORWARD TO A BREAKDOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. IT ALSO CREATES A DIMINISHED VALUE FOR RESALE FOR WHICH THE STATE CONSUMER COMPLAINT BUREAU AGREED BUT WAS UNABLE TO GET AN AGREEMENT FROM HONDA ON. I HAVE ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS FROM HONDA AND THE STATE OF OREGON AND COULD FORWARD TO YOU IF YOU HAVE THE SAME VIEWS THAT WE HAVE. WE HAVE ONLY 4500 MILES ON OUR CIVIC AND HAVE ASKED THEM FOR AN ABILITY TO TRADE IT IN ON ANOTHER CAR FOR NEAR WHAT WE PAID FOR IT FOR PEACE OF MIND IN OUR TRAVELS OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID THAT IF THE PROBLEM HAS NOT YET OCCURRED THEY WON'T ADDRESS IT YET THEY KNOW THAT IT MAY OCCUR. AT OUR AGE AND HOPING TO KEEP THE CAR FOR A LONG TIME THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DOESN'T WORK FOR US AND IT IS JUST A WAY FOR HONDA TO AVOID A RECALL AND KEEP THEIR PROBLEM OUT OF THE MEDIAL WHILE PUSHING THE OUTCOME ON US WITH NO RECOURSE EXCEPT TO WAIT FOR THE PROBLEM TO MANIFEST ITSELF AT OUR INCONVENIENCE. THEY SAY THAT THE ENGINE WOULD STALL SO THAT WOULD LOSE OUR POWER BRAKES AND STEERING WHICH SCARES US ON TOP OF THE INCONVENIENCE OF AN INTERSTATE BREAKDOWN WHILE BOTH MY WIFE AND I HAVE MEDICAL ISSUES THAT CAUSE US CONCERNS IN THAT POTENTIAL. EXTREME VIBRATION IN REAR SUSPENSION OF 2008 HONDA CIVIC EX. THIRD SET OF TIRES (CURRENT ODOMETER READING IS 64K MILES) DUE TO "CUPPING". HONDA DEALER STATES THAT CUPPING DUE TO LACK OF ROTATION OF TIRES AND DENIES ANY HISTORY OF SUSPENSION ISSUES FOR THIS MODEL. *TR
THE SUN VISOR ON MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC LX JUST BROKE; I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND HAVE ABOUT 33K MILES. I READ THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CIVIC. IT IS A HAZARD AS IT BLOCKS VISION AT NIGHT TIME. THE CHEAP PLASTIC MATERIAL AND POOR DESIGN IS SHAMEFUL FOR HONDA. *TR
HAVE A 08 CIVIC HYBRID WITH 89K MILES. GOT THE RECENT BATTERY SOFTWARE UPGRADE SEVERAL WEEKS AGO. HAVE HAD A SUDDEN DROP IN BATTERY CHARGE DOWN TO ONE OR TWO BARS, BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER THE UPGRADE. RECOVERY USUALLY FAIRLY QUICK, DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, 72 MPH, ALL OF A SUDDEN DASH WENT DARK AND ENGINE STOPPED. NO WARNINGS OR LIGHTS BEFOREHAND. COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ABLE TO RESTART IMMEDIATELY. HAPPENED TWICE MORE OVER THE NEXT 30 MINUTES. THESE TIMES PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED AS I COASTED. TANK ABOUT 1/3 FULL WITH SHELL GAS. FILLED THE TANK WITH OFF BRAND GAS AND DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY OK. TOOK IT TO HONDA DEALER. THEY CHECKED ENGINE (NO CODES) AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. NOTHING FOUND. HAVE TO DRIVE THIS CAR EVERY WEEKEND FOR 400 MILE ROUND TRIP. CONCERNED ABOUT UPCOMING WEEKEND. *TR
2008 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID EXPERIENCING SEVERE TIRE CUPPING FOR 3RD TIME. VEHICLE IS HAVING IT'S 3RD SET OF TIRES PUT ON AT 51,000 MILES. FUEL ECONOMY IS DRAMATICALLY LOWER AS WELL. HONDA HAS AGREED (2ND TIME NOW) TO PAY 50% OF ANOTHER NEW SET OF TIRES. VEHICLE HAS BEEN ALIGNED AND TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED AS ADVISED. AT APPROXIMATELY 30K MILES THE HYBRID BATTERY CHARGING CAPACITY STARTED TO DECREASE. THE BATTERY WOULD NOT HOLD A CHARGE AS LONG. HONDA SENT LETTERS OUT TO HAVE A SOFTWARE PATCH PUT IN TO PROLONG THE LIFE OF THE BATTERY. THEREFORE THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM. THIS RESPONSE TIME RESULTED IN A NEAR MISS WHILE ENTERING FREEWAY TRAFFIC DUE TO THE SLUGGISHNESS OF THE ENGINE WHEN REQUESTING ACCELERATION THAT, PRIOR TO THE SOFTWARE CHANGE, WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN A PROBLEM. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE THAT HONDA HAS FORCED UPON THE OWNERS OF THE HONDA CIVIC HYBRID IS A DETRIMENT TO SAFE DRIVING, AND SHOULD BE REVERSED AT THE SOONEST OPPORTUNITY BEFORE SOMEONE FORGETS AND IS ACTUALLY INVOLVED IN AN INCIDENT THAT INVOLVES SERIOUS INJURY IF NOT DEATH. *TR

I HAVE A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. AFTER ABOUT 30K MILES, THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR IS DAMAGED. THE VISOR IS CRACKED AND THE METAL STICK IS EXPOSED. IT WAS REPAIRED. LAST WEEK ON 09/09/10 I FILLED MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID UP WITH GAS AS NORMAL AND BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON IT WAS LEAKING ENOUGH GAS TO MAKE THE SMELL IN THE GARAGE UNBEARABLE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE LINE FROM WHERE THE GAS IS PUT IN BY THE USER AND WHERE IT MEETS THE GAS TANK IS DEFECTIVE AND HAS BEGUN LEAKING. WHEN PARKED ON AN INCLINE THE VEHICLE EXHIBITS DIFFICULTY INITIATING FORWARD MOTION AND MAY ROLL BACKWARDS UP TO THREE FEET BEFORE ESTABLISHING FORWARD PROGRESS. I WAS TOLD, "NO, GAS MILEAGE SHOULD BE THE SAME" WELL, THE GAS MILEAGE HAS DECREASED APPROXIMATELY 3-4 MILES PER GALLON. THE IMA BATTERY ASSIST DOES NOT COME ON, AND MAKES ACCELERATION FOR PASSING AND MERGING ONTO FREEWAY DIFFICULT. IF POSSIBLE, WOULD PREFER TO HAVE THE OLD SOFTWARE RE-INSTALLED. I PURCHASED A 2008 HONDA CIVIC SEDAN. AT 44,000 MILES THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE SPLIT. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FLAW.
