THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE CAR'S DASH PANEL CAME "ON" WITHOUT ANY EVENT TRIGGERING IT. MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, PLAYA WEST AUTOMOTIVE (310-822-9115) INVESTIGATED & RECEIVED A "32-10" OPEN CIRCUIT INDICATION FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG, SHOWING THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM WAS DE-ACTIVATED. THIS EXPLAINS THE LIGHT COMING "ON". THEIR INVESTIGATION FOUND A FRAYED WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE SHOP CALLED THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER & WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A REPAIR ADVISORY ABOUT THIS ISSUE, BUT THE HONDA DEALER REFUSED TO DO ANY REPAIR TO FIX IT B/C THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THIS REPAIR IS GOING TO COST ME OVER $700 FOR PARTS & LABOR B/C THE PASSENGER SEAT HAS TO BE REMOVED TO ACCESS THE WIRING. CAN YOU PLEASE INVESTIGATE WHETHER OR NOT A SAFETY RECALL IS WARRANTED FOR THIS HAZARD. THE ONLY THING THAT MIGHT BE DIFFERENT ABOUT MY CAR IS THAT I HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. OTHERWISE, IT IS IN GOOD CONDITION, WITH RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE. I RARELY CARRY A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. THANK YOU & HAPPY HOLIDAYS. *TR
OCCASIONALLY, WHEN "CRUISE" OPTION IS TURNED ON (BUT NOT ENGAGED OR "SET"), MY HONDA CIVIC ACTS AS IF THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED. THAT IS, WHEN I REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL, THE EXPECTED DECELERATION DOES NOT HAPPEN. THE CAR CONTINUES TO TRAVEL AT THE SAME SPEED. ONLY WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE CAR STARTS TO SLOW DOWN. THIS MIMICS THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR OF THE CAR WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED EVEN WHEN CRUISE OPTION IS NOT USED. IN FACT, ON SOME OCCASIONS, THE CAR JERKS A BIT WHEN I LIFT MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL JUST LIKE WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED. *TR
I HEARD OVER THE TELEVISION AND RADIO THAT THE AIRBAGS ON MY CAR ARE UNSAFE IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT - THAT UNSAFE PARTICLES ARE RELEASED IN THE CAR CAUSING HEALTH PROBLEMS. *TR
HIT A DEER GOING 70 MILES A HOUR STATE HIGHWAY SEAT BELT DID NOT DEPLOY I HAVE A SPINE INJURY ALSO PAINT IS FADING ON ROOF
THE PAINT IS COMING OFF MY BLUE 2008 CIVIC LX COUPE. THE ROOF AND HOOD LOOK LIKE THE PAINT JUST PEELED OFF. *TR
PAINT ON MY ATOMIC BLUE 2008 HONDA CIVIC IS FADING TO A WHITE COLOR ON THE ROOF. *TR
2 THINGS: 1) THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR BROKE FOR NO REASON. IT NOW HANGS IN THE WAY OF MY VISION. IT DOESN'T STAY UP. IT IS A HAZARD. I CAN'T HAVE A PASSENGER SIT THERE BECAUSE IT COMPLETELY OBSTRUCTS THEIR VIEW. 2) THE PAINT IS DAMAGED. SERVER ALL SPOTS ARE "WORN OUT".
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE AND THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG EXPLODED WITH FORCE IMPACTING THE DRIVER. THE AIR BAG EXPLODED EMITTING A SUBSTANCE IN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MERGE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD NEAR THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MAJOR INJURIES TO THE HANDS, FACE, A BROKEN WRIST, CLAVICLE AND A HERNIATED DISK. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED ABRASIONS AND CUTS. THE CONTACT AND THE DRIVER BOTH RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTOR HAD THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO INSPECT AND DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I WAS REAR ENDED AT LOW SPEED AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER. THE BUMPER WAS REPLACED AND WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK, I STARTED NOTICING CHANGES IN VISION, HEADACHES, AND HEARING LOSS. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER, I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN I STARTED FEELING FAINT. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THOUGHT I WAS WELL ENOUGH TO DRIVE. I GOT BACK ON THE HIGHWAY AND STARTED TO FEEL WORSE. MY VISION DIMMED, MY LEFT HAND STARTED CRAMPING, I STARTED SWEATING AND SHAKING, AND A VERY NEARLY FAINTED WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND CALL 911 AND WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. THE DOCTORS COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH ME. THE FOLLOWING WEEK, I HAD ISSUES WITH FORGETFULNESS, DISORIENTATION, AND IMPAIRED VISION AND HEARING. MY ROOMMATE, WHO DROVE THE CAR HOME FROM WHERE I LEFT IT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL, ALSO FELT STRANGE AFTER SHE DROVE IT. I'VE SINCE BEEN TO A NEUROLOGIST AND A CARDIOLOGIST AND NEITHER CAN FIND AN ISSUE WITH ME AND AGREE IT MUST BE SOMETHING RELATED TO THE CAR. THE LONGER I'VE BEEN AWAY FROM THE CAR, THE BETTER I'VE FELT. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND A DEALERSHIP AND NEITHER CAN FIND THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE. IT'S NOT CARBON MONOXIDE (I HAVE A SENSITIVE DETECTOR IN MY CAR), BUT IT HAS TO BE SOME SUBSTANCE. THE INDEPENDENT SHOP FOUND A HOLE IN THE SEALING AROUND THE REAR QUARTER PANEL, WHICH WAS RESEALED, BUT I DROVE IT THIS WEEKEND AND STARTED HAVING ISSUES AGAIN. I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 60 MPH WHEN SOMETHING CAME OUT OF THE AIR VENTS. IMMEDIATELY AFTER BREATHING IT, I FELT STRANGE AGAIN AND MY VISION AND HEARING ARE AGAIN IMPAIRED. I AM ABOUT TO JUNK THE CAR AND SELL IT FOR SCRAPS BECAUSE I DON'T WANT ANYONE ELSE BECOMING ILL FROM DRIVING IT. THERE ARE NO LIGHTS TO INDICATE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT CLEARLY THERE IS. I AM ABLE TO DRIVE OTHER CARS WITHOUT ISSUE. *TR
TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE COMPLETELY REBUILT AFTER 105000 MILES APPROXIMATELY; MECHANIC TOLD ME HE COULD ESTIMATE HOW MUCH LONGER I HAVE IF IT WAS SOMETHING THAT HE SAW MORE OFTEN, BUT THIS ISN'T SOMETHING HE SEES OFTEN. THE VEHICLE WOULD RUN HEAVY, AND I WAS TOLD AN ENGINE MOUNT WAS BAD AND WAS SUBSEQUENTLY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THERE IS STILL A TENDENCY FOR THE CAR TO VIBRATE AND SHAKE AS I DRIVE BETWEEN 17-30 MPH, AND ATTRIBUTE THIS TO THE ISSUE OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE ALSO DOES NOT SHIFT WELL, AND CLICKS ON CERTAIN SHIFTING POINTS. DEALERSHIP STATED THE CAR IS OUTSIDE OF THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH THIS ISSUES STARTED PRIOR TO THE END OF THAT WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT A UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
THE CAR WAS VIBRATING SO HARD THAT IT FELT LIKE THE MOTOR WAS GOING TO FALL OUT. ACCORDING TO TWO MECHANICS THIS IS VERY EARLY FOR THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM IN A CAR WITH LESS THAN 50000 MILES. HAD TO REPLACE THE LOWER REAR ENGINE MOTOR MOUNTS AND THE FRONT RIGHT ENGINE MOUNT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, I COULD HEAR A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE PASSENGER WINDOW AND WHEN I LOOKED OVER, I COULD SEE PART OF THE RUBBER SEAL, THAT HOLDS THE WINDSHIELD IN PLACE, FLAPPING IN THE BREEZE. AFTER EXAMINING THE SEAL ON BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE AND THE PASSENGER SIDE, THE TOP HALF OF THE SEAL IS NO LONGER THERE. WITH THE RAINY SEASON APPROACHING, I AM WORRIED THAT WATER WILL GET INTO THE INSIDE OF THE CAR AND CAUSE THE WINDSHIELD TO POP OUT. THIS IS DIFFERENTLY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE CAR I AM DRIVING, BUT I'M NOT SURE HOW ELSE TO SHARE THIS CONCERN. THE NEW HEADLIGHTS IN CARS ARE TOO BRIGHT. THEY HURT A PERSON'S EYES. EVEN PEOPLE WHO AREN'T SENSITIVE TO LIGHT ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT HAVING TO LOOK AWAY FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE LIGHTS ARE SIMPLY TOO BRIGHT. NOT BEING ABLE TO KEEP AN EYE ON ONCOMING TRAFFIC SEEMS SILLY. DRIVERS NEED TO BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT THE ONCOMING CAR IS DOING, NOT BE BLINDED BY THE LIGHT AND FORCED TO LOOK AWAY. THIS WILL LEAD TO MANY MORE ACCIDENTS FROM SOMETHING THAT WAS ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO BE AN IMPROVEMENT. THESE LIGHTS SHOULD BE BANNED AND REMOVED FROM THE MARKET. *TR
DEFECTIVE PAINT JOB.
TAKATA RECALL. YES THEY ARE SAYING THEY CAN'T DO THE RECALL RIGHT NOW OR ARE WAITING FOR PARTS AS DANGEROUS TIME IS PASSING. ALSO THIS IS MY SECOND HONDA CIVIC 2007 AND 2008 WHERE THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATOR BUTTON HAS FAILED @50,000 MILES. IS THIS NOT A HAZARD AS A PERSON PLAYS WITH THE BROKE EQUIPMENT WHILE DRIVING. *TR
UNEVEN TIRE WEAR ON THE INSIDE TREAD OF REAR WHEELS. CAN'T SEE THE WEAR SINCE IT IS ON THE INSIDE SO THE TIRE LOOKS FINE ON THE OUTSIDE BUT IS WORN SO BAD ON THE INSIDE A BLOWOUT COULD HAPPEN EASILY. PROBLEM CAUSED BELT SEPARATION AND EXTREME UNEVEN WEAR. THIS IS DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE SUSPENSION DESIGN. THIS IS COSTING A TON OF MONEY IN REPLACEMENT TIRES AND TIRES FOR THIS MODEL CAR COST A FORTUNE. *TR
(DRIVER ONLY IN CAR; NO PASSENGERS.) SECURED DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT, STARTED CAR AND PLACED CAR IN REVERSE. NO LIGHTS DISPLAYED ON DASH. WHILE CHECKING MY MIRRORS TO REVERSE, THE SIDE AIRBAG OFF INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATES ON DASH FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN GOES OUT. I LOOKED AROUND THE VEHICLE AND CHECKED THE SEAT BELT, ALL OK. AFTER 5 MILES AND UPON ENTERING THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 30 MPH THE SIDE AIRBAG OFF INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATES ON THE DASH FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN GOES OUT (JUST AS NOTED ABOVE). THE CAR WAS TAKEN STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE CODES PULLED BUT NOTHING APPEARED ON THE BUS OR IN MEMORY. THE DEALER CANNOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS INTERMITTENT BUT WARNED ME THAT MY AIRBAG SAFETY SYSTEM MAY NOT WORK CORRECTLY. THIS EXACT PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORT ONLINE BY HUNDREDS OF HONDA DRIVERS BUT HONDA STATES THEY CANNOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS INTERMITTENT AND/OR NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE. THIS KNOWN PROBLEM HAS TO BE ADDRESSED IN LIGHT OF ALL THE AIRBAG ISSUES WITH VARIOUS HONDA MAKES AND MODEL YEARS. *TR
BRAKES SANK TO THE FLOOR. AFTER ROLLING TO A STOP, AND TURNING OFF THE CAR, IT STARTED TO WORK LIKE NORMAL. BRAKE PADS ARE WORN OUT AFTER 2000 MILES WITH CONSERVATIVE DRIVING. *TR
SRS LIGHT STAYS ON. LOCAL HONDA DEALER SERVICE DEPT. ANALYZED (9/16/14) FAULT VEHICLE CODES 32-10, 71-10, 85-61. SERVICE MAN: "TESTS INDICATE BAD CRIMP WHEN INSTALLED AT FACTORY, NOT DUE TO WEAR & TEAR." CALLED AMERICA HONDA (800-999-1009), CASE NUMBER N012014-09-2900377, BUT WOULD NOT COVER ESTIMATED $1122.00 TO REPAIR. IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT IN THIS CONDITION, THE AIR BAGS ARE DEACTIVATED AND WILL NOT DEPLOY. SINCE IT IS INDICATED THAT THIS IS A FACTORY ISSUE, IT IS FELT THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER. WHEN THEY DID THE PAINT RECALL HONDA IN HILO DID NOT DO THE WHOLE CAR JUST THE ROOF NOW MY CAR IS CHIPPING CLEAR COAT ALL OVER AND IT IS A BLACK CAR LOOKING HORRIBLY WRONG AND NO MATTER HOW MUCH I COMPLAINED FOR THEM TO FIX IT THEY DID NOT AND AVOIDED ME NOW THERE ANOTHER RECALL I WANT THEM AS A HONDA DEALER TO FIXED ALL OF IT LIKE THEY PROMISED. HOUSTON, TX. 2008 HONDA CIVIC EX SEDAN. AT RED LIGHT, NOTICED ENGINE SMOKE COMING UP FROM UNDER HOOD. ENGINE TEMP INDICATOR WAS MAXED. DROVE SLOWLY TO SERVICE STATION 1 MILE AWAY COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. ADDED COOLANT, AND DROVE TO MECHANIC. REPLACED WATER PUMP AND T-STAT AND FLUSHED AND FILLED COOLANT THEN DIAGNOSED CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK (TOTAL OF $690 FOR SERVICE). DROVE TO DEALER WHO REPLACED ENGINE BLOCK ON EXTENDED WARRANTY. ENGINE HEAD WAS NOT WARPED AND WAS NOT REPLACED. CAR IS DRIVING VERY WELL SINCE ENGINE REPLACEMENT. *TR
UPON LEAVING MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT, I HAD DRIVEN APPROX 1 MILE TO A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND NOTICED A SLIGHT VAPOR PLUME AT THE FRONT OF THE CAR. NOTED A SLIGHTLY ELEVATED COOLANT TEMP (3 LEDS ABOVE NORMAL) AND PULLED OVER. OPENING THE HOOD REVEALED A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK ON THE EXHAUST SIDE OF THE ENGINE BLOCK BEHIND AND TO THE RIGHT OF THE EXHAUST COLLECTOR. NO KIND OF ABUSE OR OVERHEATING HAS EVER OCCURRED WITH THIS ENGINE SINCE PURCHASED NEW. NO INDICATION OF A COOLANT LEAK WAS APPARENT UPON PARKING AT WORK BEFORE THIS DISCOVERY (NO ODOR, OR VAPOR PRESENT). A HIGH MILEAGE ENGINE YES. EXPECTED ISSUES WOULD BE WORN BELTS, PISTON RINGS, SEALS ETC...A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. *TR
FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS, THE PAINT ON MY CAR'S FRONT FENDERS, HOOD AND ROOF HAS SLOWLY BEGUN TO FADE AND PEEL. I NOW HAVE 1/2 A DOZEN FAIRLY LARGE AREAS ON MY CAR WHERE THE PAINT HAS COMPLETELY FADED AWAY.
THE TOP OF MY CAR COMPLETELY LOST PAINT IN TWO LARGE SECTIONS (THE SIZE OF A DESERT PLATE, IT WENT DOWN TO THE BARE METAL BODY OF THE CAR AS OF SUMMER 2014. OCTOBER 2014 I PAID $566. TO PAINT THE ENTIRE TOP OF THE CAR BY A LOCAL, REPUTABLE BODY SHOP. I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF MY CAR AND WAX IT REGULARLY. THIS IS THE FIRST HONDA I HAVE OWNED AND NEVER BEFORE HAVE I HAD TO PAINT A CAR DUE TO PAINT TOTALLY WEARING DOWN TO THE "BONES" OF A CAR. *TR

I HAVE A 2008 HONDA CIVIC SEDAN. SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW THE AIR CONDITIONER NEVER WORKED PROPERLY. THE SYMPTOM THAT I NOTICED WAS A LACK OF WATER DRIPPING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR (FROM THE EVAPORATOR COIL). I ASKED HONDA ABOUT IT WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR A ROUTINE VISIT AND THEY SAID IT WAS FINE AND THE AIR TEMPERATURE FROM THE VENT WAS IN SPEC. THE CAR WAS COOLING SO I NEVER WORRIED ABOUT IT MUCH. AT 75K MILES THE A/C COMPRESSOR JUST STOPPED WORKING. THE A/C SYSTEM HAD A FULL CHARGE BUT THE COMPRESSOR WOULDN'T COMPRESS THE GAS TO ALLOW THE REFRIGERANT TO FLASH COOL. I HAD A TAKE IT TO LOCAL CAR REPAIR PLACE TO HAVE THE A/C COMPRESSOR, EXPANSION VALVE, AND DRIER REPLACED. NOW AFTER SPENDING $$$$, THE A/C WORKS GREAT AND WATER DRIPS FROM CAR WHEN THE A/C IS ON. THE A/C SYSTEM FROM THE FACTORY SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE AND NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT. THERE SHOULD BE SERVICE BULLETIN OR RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR
WHENEVER PERFORMING A TURN THERE IS A CLICKING SOUND MADE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. DEALER UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING THROUGH DIAGNOSTICS. IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS A PIECE OF METAL BROKEN SOMEWHERE THAT WHEN GOING OVER A SPEED BUMP OR TURNING IT BUMPS OR GRINDS AGAINST SOMETHING. *TR
ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS (THE MOST RECENT BEING 6/24/14), TWICE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND TWICE WHILE SLOWING DOWN, THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE HAS SURGED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO UNEXPECTEDLY MOVE FORWARD. ON THE TWO OCCASIONS IT HAS OCCURRED WHEN SLOWING DOWN, I WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE. WHAT HAPPENED WAS AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP (ONCE AT A RED LIGHT, ONCE IN A PARKING LOT), THE RPM INDICATOR UNEXPECTEDLY SHOT UP TO APPROXIMATELY 2500RPM, THE VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD, AND EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE UNEXPECTED INCREASE IN POWER MADE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP. HAD THERE BEEN ANY VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME IN EITHER OCCURRENCE, THERE MAY HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. ON THE TWO OCCURRENCES AT HIGHWAY SPEED, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING, AND SHE REPORTS THAT THE RPM INDICATOR AGAIN WENT HIGH AND THE ENGINE WAS MAKING A LOT OF NOISE. *TR

GEOMETRY PROBLEM ON SUSPENSION CAUSES EXCESSIVE UNEVEN TIRE WEAR. THE DRIVER MAY BE UNAWARE OF THIS DAMAGE BECAUSE THE OUTSIDE OF ALL THE TIRES APPEAR FINE. IF NO CLOSE INSPECTION OF THE INSIDE TREAD OF THE TIRE IS DONE, DANGEROUS CONDITIONS CAN BE OVERLOOKED. THIS PUTS THE PASSENGERS OF THIS CAR AND ANYONE AROUND IT IN DANGER. I MOVED TO CALIFORNIA ALMOST 5 YEARS AGO AND AFTER 2 YEARS THE PAINT ON THE ROOF STARTED TO PEAL AND NOW THERE ARE BIG WHITE PEELING BLOTCHES ON THE ROOF AND ITS STARTING ON THE TRUNK.

COLLIDED WITH TRUCK AND DAMAGED FRONT AND RIGHT QUARTER PANEL (APPROX. $6400 DAMAGE) COLLISION THREW ME FROM DRIVER'S SEAT TO PASSENGER DOOR. I WAS WEARING SEAT BELT AS PRESCRIBED. THE SEAT BELT WAS COMPLETELY STRETCHED ACROSS BOTH SEATS BUT DID NOT RESTRAIN ME FROM CROSSING TO OPPOSITE SIDE OF CAR. NOR DID ANY AIR BAGS DEPLOY (NETHER SIDE OR FRONT). THE SRS LIGHT TURNED ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR A FEW MONTHS BUT LAST MONDAY THE SRS AIRBAG INDICATOR STAYED ON. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE SRS FLOOR WIRE HARNESS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THAT THIS ISSUE IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT I HAVE TO PAY OVER $1000 TO FIX IT. A WIRE HARNESS RELATED TO SRS AIRBAG, THE BIGGEST SAFETY CONCERN FOR ANY CAR MANUFACTURER HAS A WIRE HARNESS DEFECT AND IT IS NOT COVERED. THIS GRAVE ISSUE IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN MANY OF HONDA'S MODELS AND THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE COST OF REPAIRING IT? *TR
COOLANT LEAKS ARE COMING FROM ENGINE BLOCK. THE LEAK CAUSES COOLANT TO DRAIN AWAY, LEADING TO OVERHEATING OR TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE, AND SHUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC. MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. SPECIFICALLY THE BRAKE PADS WEAR OUT VERY SOON. MY FIRST SET OF BRAKES LASTED 34,000 MILES, THE SECOND SET LASTED ONLY 22000 MILES. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE AIR COMPRESSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, ALONG WITH THE COILS, AND A/C CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT FOR THE AIR COMPRESSOR. VEHICLE IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND THERE IS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER THE COST OF REPLACING THE AIR COMPRESSOR. DISCUSSED WITH SEVERAL MECHANICS IN MY AREA AND HAVE SEEN FORUM DISCUSSIONS POSTED THAT HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES AND HAVE LISTED IT AS A "KNOWN ISSUE" BUT HONDA HAS NOT FORMALLY ACKNOWLEDGED. THE CAR STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED. THE CAR KEY FITS INTO THE IGNITION; HOWEVER, THERE IS NO STEERING. A REPRESENTATIVE FROM HONDA IMMEDIATELY CAME TO MY PLACE OF RESIDENCE AND MOVED THE CAR STEERING WHEEL WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION BUT STILL THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED. HE STATED HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. HE STATED THAT THERE ARE SOME PINS IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH MAKES THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKUP. I HAD PREVIOUSLY DRIVEN THE CAR IN THE MORNING AND THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. CONCERNS: WHY DOES THE CAR STEERING LOCK-UP THIS BECAUSE STEERING IS VITAL TO THE MOVEMENT OF THE CAR? HAS THIS EXPERIENCE OCCURRED WITH ANOTHER HONDO CIVICS? NEXT, WITH ALL THE COVER-UP OF DEFECTIVE PARTS IN CARS IN THE NEWS, I AM LEFT WONDERING IS THIS A CONCERN THAT IS KNOWN BY THE HONDA COMPANY THAT HAS NOT BEEN REPORTED TO THE CONSUMER. 2008 HONDA CIVIC. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE BLOCK FAILURE . *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE BLOCK PROBLEM SHOULD BE TREATED AS A RECALL DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE ENGINE OVERHEATED AND STALLED, HE LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. AT THAT POINT, THE STEERING AND BRAKES BECAME VERY DIFFICULT. THE CONSUMER STOPPED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY SHOWED HIM THE 4 PROBLEM AREAS OF THE ENGINE WHERE THE LEAKAGE OCCURRED. ALSO, THE BEARING ON THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR PULLEY STARTED MAKING A NOISE. THE ENTIRE COMPRESSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER ALSO HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING THE VEHICLE AND AFTER 10 SECONDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD START. ON OCCASION, HE HAD TROUBLE SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO PULL MY CAR TO THE LEFT SIDE. THE STEERING WHEEL DID NOT RESPOND TO THE DIRECTION RIGHT AND FELT AS IF IT HAD GONE "LIMP". I SUFFERED A CONCUSSION AND CERVICAL NECK INJURY. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS INVOLVED AND NO WEATHER CONDITIONS. ALSO I WAS GOING BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN NOR HELP ME WITH THE AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING AND THE CONCUSSION I SUFFERED.
