CAR HAS BEEN LOSING COOLANT FOR THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS INTERMITTENTLY. RECENTLY IT WAS RUN DOWN TO ALMOST NOTHING BEFORE I DISCOVERED IT FROM A CRACK THAT CANNOT BE FOUND AS OF YET IN THE ENGINE BLOCK AREA. CAR STARTED TO OVERHEAT. TOOK TO HONDA DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE LEAK, THOUGH THERE IS A VOLUNTARILY RECALL / TSB ON THE R18 ENGINE CRACKING AND LEAVING MOTORISTS STRANDED ON THE FREEWAY. WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR CAR ENGINE TO COMPLETELY FAIL BEFORE ANY REAL RESULTS FROM DEALER/ HONDA. *TR
AT LESS THAN 55,000 MILES, I NOTICED MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC COUPE WOULD VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY WHILE IN REVERSE, ESPECIALLY DURING START UP. CHECKED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WENT TO A MECHANIC TO TAKE A LOOK, AND THEY FOUND 3 MOTOR MOUNTS CRACKED. AFTER REPLACING THE MOUNTS (NOT CHEAP), MY CIVIC NO LONGER VIBRATES ON REVERSE. IT WAS DEFINITELY CRACKED MOUNTS THAT CAUSED THIS ISSUE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN 2008 AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, AND ALWAYS TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY CAR AND MAKE SURE ALL SERVICE IS DONE ON TIME. IT'S UNFORTUNATE THAT THE MOUNTS WERE MADE SO CHEAP FOR SUCH A 'RELIABLE' COMPANY... NOW THE BURDEN IS ON THE CONSUMER TO SPEND HUNDREDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT NOTICED PREMATURE RUST NEAR THE AREAS OF THE HOOD, ROOF, DRIVER SIDE DOOR, EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRRORS, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FENDER BY THE HEADLIGHT, AND ALL ACROSS THE TRUNK. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS EXTENSIVE PAINT PEELING AND CRACKING. THE DEALER (RANDY KUEHL HONDA CARS, 4425 CENTER POINT RD NE, CEDAR RAPIDS, IA 52402, (319) 393-5700) WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD SEND PICTURES TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT HAD NOT HEARD BACK FROM THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
I NOTICED IN THE SPRING OF 2014 THAT THE PAINT ON THE ROOF OF THE CAR WAS FADING QUICKLY AND SIGNIFICANTLY. THEN, LAST MONTH (MARCH 2015,) I NOTICED THE CLEAR COAT IS CRACKED AND PEELING OFF COMPLETELY ON THE RIGHT REAR BUMPER AND THE TRUNK. THERE HAVE BEEN NO INCIDENTS TO WARRANT THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE, SO I SUSPECT IT'S A FACTORY DEFECT.
THE ENGINE MOUNTS THAT PREVENT MAJOR MOVEMENT OF THE ENGINE WERE CRACKED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WOULD RUN HEAVY IN EXTREMELY COLD TEMPERATURES, BUT BECAME MORE COMMON PLACE IN LESS EXTREME BUT STILL COOLER TEMPERATURES. THE MOUNTS WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT I SUSPECT AT LEAST ONE MAY STILL BE CRACKED OR BAD. A SEPARATE MECHANIC FROM THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE ENGINE LITERALLY COULD BE MOVED BY PUSHING ON IT BEFORE THE BUSHING/MOUNTS WERE FIXED.
THE ENGINE OVERHEATED AT HIGHWAY SPEED. LATER FOUND THAT THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS VERY LOW DUE TO ENGINE BLOCK CRACKING ISSUE. REFERENCE HONDA SB-08-044 AND NHTSA # 10030876. *TR
NOTICED CAR WAS RUNNING LOUD WHEN STARTED AND LOUDER WHEN PUTTING IN REVERSE. BROUGHT CAR IN FOR 55,000 MILE SERVICE AND ALSO ASKED THEM TO CHECK OUT THE MOTOR MOUNTS, SINCE I HAD CHECK ON GOOGLE TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY ISSUES WITH 2008 CIVICS. YES CRACKED MOTOR MOUNTS IS AN ISSUE WITH 2007 AND 2008 CIVICS. SERVICE DEPARTMENT CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS A CRACKED MOTOR MOUNT IN THE BACK OF THE ENGINE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF THIS CAR AND ALSO BRING IT IN FOR SERVICE ON TIME. VERY UPSET THAT THIS CAR ONLY HAS 54,702 MILES AND IT HAS A CRACKED MOTOR MOUNT. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN A GARAGE FROM DAY ONE AND I ONLY DRIVE IT TO AND FROM WORK SINCE I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN AND SHOULD BE LOOKED AT FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL. THIS CAR IS HOUSED IN FLORIDA AND DOES NOT HAVE THE WINTER ELEMENTS OF THE NORTH. SINCE THE CAR HAS A TOTAL OF FOUR MOTOR MOUNTS WONDERING IF THEY WILL ALL START TO FAIL. SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME IT WOULD COST OVER $500 + DOLLARS TO REPAIR ONE. SO IF THE OTHER THREE FAIL WE ARE TALKING OVER $2,000 + IN REPAIR COSTS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR SUCH A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE ENTERING AN ON RAMP AT SPEED LESS THAN 30 MPH TO A PARKWAY THE DRIVERS SIDE, SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG DEPLOYED BY ITSELF. THE SEATBELT ALSO ENGAGED AND WAS WE WERE NOT ABLE TO USE THE SEATBELT AFTER THE INCIDENT. INJURIES INCLUDED A VERY BRUISED ARM AND SHOULDER AND A RINGING IN THE EAR THAT LASTED MORE THAN 12 HOURS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THE ENGINE MOUNT HAD BROKEN CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE UPON STARTING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE MOTOR MOUNTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
THE PAINT ON THE HOOD AND TRUNK ARE PEELING OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH THE CONTACT MADE A LEFT TURN AND THE FRONT AND REAR AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HER RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DIAGNOSE FAILURE AND DETERMINE WHY THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT (SRS LIGHT) HAS BEEN COMING ON AND OFF FOR ABOUT A MONTH. THE HONDA DEALER SAID IT WAS A CODE 32-10, AN OPEN IN THE FRONT PASSENGER' SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR. NEED TO REPLACE THE FLOOR WIRING HARNESS PER SB 10-001, THE SRS PORTION OF THE FLOOR HARNESS HAS A POOR CRIMP IN IT. THAT IS ON THE DEALER WORK ORDER. THE HONDA DEALER SAID THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND THE REPAIR IS ABOUT $1300.00. THIS IS NOT A WEAR ITEM, WIRING HARNESS SHOULD NOT FAIL AND CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE, INOPERATIVE AIR BAG. AFTER 51,000+ MILES, THE RIGHT ENGINE MOTOR MOUNT ON MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC 2-DOOR COUPE FAILED. THE ENGINE VIBRATED WHEN THE ENGINE WAS COLD OR WHEN I FIRST STARTED IT IN THE MORNING. THERE WERE MINIMAL PROBLEMS AFTER THE ENGINE WARMED UP. TWO REPAIR SHOPS SAID THE MOTOR MOUNT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE MOUNT WITH A NEW ONE FROM THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN THE AREA. HE SAID THE DEALERSHIP HAD SOME IN STOCK, WHICH HE SAID WAS HIGHLY UNUSUAL BECAUSE THESE MOUNTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE. THE PARTS PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT EVEN HAVE TO LOOK UP THE PART NUMBER, HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WAS NEEDED. BOTH OF THESE SUGGEST THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM, AND THE HONDA REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN REDESIGNED. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A MOTOR MOUNT ON ANY OF THE CARS I HAVE OWNED IN THE LAST 45+ YEARS. ALL OF THE ABOVE INFORMATION I HAVE PROVIDED INDICATES TO ME THAT THE MOUNT IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BY HONDA. *TR
CIVIC COUPE W 75K , NO PRIOR ENGINE/POWER TRAIN PROBLEMS OVERHEATED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. WE TURNED UP THE HEATER AND FAN AND MADE IT HOME. CHECKED THE NEXT MORNING AND THERE WAS A GREAT LOSS OF COOLANT. TOOK IT TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED IT AS 'POROUS ENGINE BLOCK'. HONDA WILL REPLACE THE BLOCK AT NO CHARGE. *TR
I DROVE FOR MONTHS WITH AN EXCESSIVE VIBRATION. ('CAUSE I'M AN IDIOT!) I FINALLY TOOK IT IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO BECAUSE I HAD TO DROP TO 10-20 MILES BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT TO AVOID RATTLING MY BRAINS OUT. I HAD TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES AND GET AN ALIGNMENT. AT THE TIME THE MECHANIC TOLD ME I HAD A REALLY ODD WEAR PATTERN, HE'D NEVER SEEN. TODAY I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE PROBLEM REPORT ISSUED BY HONDA ABOUT THIS VERY THING. *TR
ENGINE TEMP GAUGE PEGGED TO HOT, WENT TO GARAGE - ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED IN FRONT - 2ND SUCH INCIDENT THIS GARAGE HAS SEEN IN TWO MONTHS ON THIS MODEL CAR; ALL MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED TO DATE @ REQUIRED INTERVALS; NO KNOWN SOURCE OF DAMAGE OTHER THAN DEFECT. *TR
I WAS BLINDED BY THE SUN AND NEARLY HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO BEING UNABLE TO ADJUST MY SUN VISOR. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE VISOR. THE ORIGINAL VISOR WAS REPLACED BY HONDA AFTER IT SPLIT APART AT ONE OF THE HINGES AND DIDN'T WORK PROPERLY. I BELIEVE THAT HONDA REPLACED THE ORIGINAL VISOR WITH AN IDENTICAL VISOR, RATHER THAN HAVING THE VISOR REDESIGNED TO CORRECT THE FLAW, BECAUSE THE REPLACEMENT VISOR EVENTUALLY SPLIT APART IN THE VERY SAME WAY THAT THE ORIGINAL VISOR SPLIT APART. I HAVE NOW HAD TO GET THE REPLACEMENT VISOR REPLACED AND I AM ON MY THIRD VISOR. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AS A FUNCTIONAL SUN VISOR IS A BASIC PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT IS ESSENTIAL TO SAFETY. I EXPECT BETTER OF HONDA. *TR
IN NOVEMBER 2013 MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC EXPERIENCED A MOTOR MOUNT FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED, DRIVEN EASY AND ONLY HAS 57,000 MILES ON IT. INVESTIGATION ON THE INTERNET SHOWS THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. HONDA REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE, OTHER THAN CHARGING THEIR CUSTOMERS A HEFTY FEE FOR THE REPAIRS. THIS HAS BECOME A WELL DOCUMENTED MANUFACTURING/DESIGN DEFECT FOR THIS GENERATION OF CIVICS. THE FACT HONDA REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND PLACES THE REPAIR BURDEN ON THEIR CUSTOMERS IS VERY TROUBLING. I WOULD HOPE EITHER THE GOVERNMENT STEPS IN OR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS FILED TO MAKE HONDA?S CUSTOMERS WHOLE. *TR
WHEN I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, FLEW OVER CONCRETE AND INTO POST, BREAKING POSTAND AND OVER A SHOPPING CART AT WHICH POINT CAR WAS WEDGE OVER CART AND GRASSY KNOLL. THE ACCELERATION WAS VERY LOUD AND VERY, VERY FAST. *TR
CLEAR COAT BEGAN CRACKING, HAD IT REDONE BY THE DEALERSHIP. NOW THE PAINT ON THE HOOD IS CHIPPING ABNORMALLY FAST, AND THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER HAD TO BE REDONE (12/15/14) SINCE THE CLEAR COAT WAS FLAKING OFF. I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY CAR, BUT FIND MYSELF HIGHLY DISCOURAGED TO CONTINUE DOING SO GIVEN THAT I CANNOT AFFORD A NEW CAR AND I'M FIGHTING A LOSING BATTLE WITH BOTH RUST AND CHIPS. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO TOUCH UP 10-15 SPOTS BI-WEEKLY, REGARDLESS OF SIZE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT END. THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND REPAIRED FOR THE BODY DAMAGE. THE SRS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE THE CONTACT FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V346000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
THE BATTERY DIES WITHOUT WARNING AFTER THE VEHICLE SITS FOR ONLY A FEW DAYS. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BATTERY WITH A NEW OEM BATTERY. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ACROSS MANY FORUMS ABOUT THIS PHENOMENON ON CIVICS. *TR
DRIVER SIDE VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP AND IMPAIRS MY VISION WHILE DRIVING. *TR
THERE ARE WHITEST, SILVER LOOKING PLACES ON ROOF AND TOP OF TRUNK. THIS HAPPENED SOMETIME WITHIN PAST MONTH OR TWO BUT I DIDN'T NOTICE RIGHT AWAY. CAR STAYS UNDER CARPORT COVER. HAVE BEEN RETIRED FOR OVER A YEAR, SO CAR HAS NOT BEEN SITTING IN SUNLITE AT WORK. SHOWED SERVICE MANAGER ON AUGUST 09,2013 AND HE TOOK PICTURES AND SAID HE WOULD CONTACT SOMEONE AT HONDA SINCE THERE WAS A 'GOODWILL' ALLOWANCE FOR THIS AND MY CAR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY NOW. I HAD A 93 ACCORD FOR 16 YEARS AND NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS TO HAPPEN. GOT THE USED 2008 CIVIC IN 2009 WITH VERY LITTLE MILEAGE. IT IS TO LAST ME REST OF MY LIFE, I THOUGHT. HAVE ALWAYS TOOK MY HONDAS TO HONDA SERVICE DEPT. FOR ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM SERVICE MANAGER. WHAT TO DO?? *TR
TRANSMISSION WENT COMPLETELY OUT WHILE DRIVING MY CAR. ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER (CARBONE HONDA IN BENNINGTON, VERMONT) IN 2013 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG FAILED. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE AIR BAG SYSTEM; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. SINCE THAT TIME, THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE TAKATA RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THE VEHICLE RECEIVED THE REPAIR; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT DUE TO AN OPENING ON THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG'S FIRST INFLATOR, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE AIR BAG FAILED. THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 06206996. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 162,178.
MY CAR WAS STOLEN OUTSIDE OF A SALVATION ARMY IN BUENA PARK AT APPROX 2 PM. THE CAR HAS SINCE BEEN SPOTTED IN LOMITA BEING DRIVEN BY A TALL WHITE MAN WITH TATTOOS AND A SHAVED HEAD. THE CAR IS A 2008 BLACK HONDA CIVIC. *TR
DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING CAR AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE ENGINE STARTED TO LOSE POWER. SHE INDICATED THAT SHE PRESSED ON THE GAS AND THE CAR JUST SLOWED DOWN. SHE LOST POWER STEERING CONTROL BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST HONDA DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS DETERMINED BY THEIR TECHNICIANS THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK HAD CRACKED CAUSING COOLANT AND SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS AND NO INDICATION ON THE GAUGE PANEL THAT THERE WERE ANY ISSUES OR THAT THE CAR WAS IN THE PROCESS OF OVERHEATING. *TR
I BOUGHT A USED 2008 HONDA CIVIC COUPE FROM A DEALERSHIP A YEAR AGO. IT WAS A ONE OWNER CAR. I NOTICED THE TOP HAD SOME PAINT / CLEAR COAT WEAR SO I HAD IT PAINTED. NOW THERE IS A LOT OF PAINT / CLEAR COAT WEAR ON THE SIDES, TRUNK AND DOORS. IT LOOKS LIKE AN OLD VEHICLE. HONDA SHOULD USE MORE CARE WITH THEIR PAINT AND CLEAR COAT PRODUCTS. I OWN TWO OTHER CARS, TOYOTAS, WITH NO PAINT PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. I FEEL THAT HONDA SHOULD TAKE AN INITIATIVE TO HAVE THEIR VEHICLES RE-PAINTED. IT LOOKS TACKY. THERE SHOULD BE A WARRANTY ON THE CLEAR COAT AND PAINT. I HAVE NOTICED MANY HONDAS LIKE THIS AROUND 2008 AND 2009 MODELS - DARK COLORED PAINTS. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER HONDA IF THEY CANNOT INCREASE THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS. *TR
PERSISTING GRINDING "METAL TO METAL" NOISE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. IT FEELS BRAKES ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL AND LIABLE TO CRASH. MULTIPLE VISITS TO BRAKE SHOPS HAS RESULTED TO NEW PADS AND ROTORS BUT NO CHANGE IN STATUS OF GRINDING "METAL TO METAL" NOISE. HONDA CAR FORUMS REVEAL SAME EXPERIENCE BY OTHER OWNERS. NO FIX FROM HONDA MOTORS. NOT COVERED IN WARRANTY. BRAKE FAILURE MAY RESULT TO CRASH AND FATALITY EVEN ON LOW SPEED. *TR

HONDA TOLD ME THAT IS COMMON FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINES. THURSTON CONDUCTED THEIR OWN TEST AND DID FIND THE ENGINE WAS BURNING 1 QUART EVERY THOUSAND MILES. AROUND EARLY 2013 I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CLEAR COAT CRACKING AND CLOUDING UP ON SEVERAL AREAS OF THE CAR'S BODY. I ALMOST ALWAYS TAKE THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, AND I ASKED THEM ABOUT THIS A FEW DIFFERENT TIMES. THEY SAID I MIGHT BE WASHING THE CAR TOO MUCH AND THAT I SHOULD TRY NOT TO PARK IT IN THE SUN SO MUCH. THIS PROBLEM GOT WORSE AND WORSE OVER THE NEXT 24 MONTHS AND RIGHT NOW THE CAR LOOKS LIKE IT'S 25 YEARS OLD DUE TO HOW BAD THE PAINT LOOKS. I RECENTLY FOUND OUT THROUGH INTERNET RESEARCH THAT HONDA ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (CAMPAIGN # 14-034, ENTITLED: PAINT CHALKING, CRACKING, CLOUDING WARRANTY EXTENSION) THAT EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THE PAINT. BUT I NEVER GOT ANYTHING IN THE MAIL FROM HONDA, AND THE DEALERSHIP PEOPLE HAD JUST KEPT SAYING THE PAINT PROBLEM WAS MY FAULT. WHEN I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR THE PAINT, THEY SAID THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED AND THAT IT WAS TOO BAD FOR ME, SO SORRY.
I EXITED FREEWAY AND WAS WAITING AT A RED SIGNAL LIGHT WHEN THE ENGINE ON ITS OWN SPEEDED UP TO 3000+ RPM. IT HELD AT THIS ELEVATED RPM FOR ABOUT A MINUTE WHILE THE CAR REMAINED STOPPED (FOOT BRAKE WAS HOLDING). THE ENGINE DROPPED BACK DOWN TO IDLE ON ITS OWN. HEADLIGHTS AND OCCUPANT HEATER WAS ON WITH FAN AT LOWEST SETTING. RADIO WAS ON. FLOOR MAT WAS NOT OUT OF PLACE. MY FOOT POSITION REMAINED UNCHANGED EXCEPT FOR APPLYING EXTRA FORCE DURING THE ELEVATED RPM EVENT. *TR
THE CAR WAS AT A STOP SIGN. IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO 2000 RPM FROM THE IDLE SPEED OF 850 RPM. IT THIS JUMPED UP TO 5500 TO 6000 RPM AND CONTINUED LIKE THAT UNTIL I STOPPED THE ENGINE. FORTUNATELY, I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, WHICH RESTRAINED IT SUFFICIENT UNTIL I WAS ABLE SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND IT CONTINUED TO ACCELERATED AT THE SAME SPEED. I STOPPED IT. AFTER THE THIRD TRY IT STARTED NORMALLY. IT HAD PREVIOUSLY JUMPED TO 850 TO 2000 RPM SEVERAL TIMES, BE IT NEVER WENT TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL BEFORE. *TR
