In august 2022 I noticed a noise in my 2014 Honda Civic, I took it to my normal mechanic and was told the noise was coming from the transmission and it indicated that the transmission was failing. I took it to the local Honda dealership and was told they checked with Honda directly and there was no problem with my transmission and some vehicles just had that noise. At that time I had just over 52,000 miles on the car. In March 2023 I drove my car from IL to CO, about 200 miles from Denver the RPMs started fluttering and at one point the car accelerated without pressing on the gas. Shortly after the check transmission light came on. We got the car to a Honda dealer in Golden, CO and were told the transmission had an internal failure and had to be replaced. I paid a total of $8,600 to replace the transmission. I asked to have the old one back but was told that would cost $1,200. At this point my car had around 56,000 miles on it. Honda has refused to reimburse me at all for my transmission failing at such low mileage due to the car being 8 years old. I've researched and learned that Honda has a long term issue with their CVT transmissions yet did not take any responsibility for this failure.
Vehicle has been jerking and hard to steer at times so checked under the hood and noticed the Transmission fluid CVT Plugg was just laying there, on top of the transmission. I bought a new plug from Honda dealer, Bought CVT oil, filled up and a week later there it is again, laying ontop of the transmission. Filled it up once again and placed the CVTPLUG boot back! Reading through honda forums it seems this has been a problem. Hondas recalls for the transmission must of missed this one because the manufacture date was may of 2014. A concern for myself and family in the vehicle since this honda didnt give me a warning saying the fluid is low or plug is off, Major safety hazards considering the car can lock up on the highway and possibly life threatening. Can we please get some answers
The contact owns a 2015 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V574000 (Power Train). The vehicle was towed back to the residence but was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 134,000. The VIN was not available.
I was involved in a multi vehicle crash on the highway at a high rate of speed, approximately 50mph. I was hit from behind and hit the car in front of me totaling my car. My airbags did not deploy and I hit the steering wheel upon impact and suffered 4 compression fractures in my T1-T4 vertebrae. The doctor stated that if my airbags would have deployed I would not have suffered the neck fractures that I did.
The Primewell 215/45R17 Valera Sport, will not hold air, I've went back over and over to Tires Plus, I'm concerned that the tire / tires will blow out, please help..
A message comes up on my dash to check airbag system.I brought it to the Honda dealership in Mobile,Al. for a diagnostic.I was told that my driver airbag needs to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Civic equipped with Continental Tires. Tire Line: ExtremeContact DWS06, Tire Size: 225/40R/18, and DOT Number was unavailable. The contact stated while driving approximately 68 MPH, she noticed abnormal loud intense vibrations and banging sounds. The contact noticed that the front driver's side tire had separated and was bouncing across lanes. The message "Check Tire Pressure" was displayed. The contact was able to remain in control of the vehicle and veered off to the side of the road. The contact stated upon inspecting the damaged tire, she noticed that the entire tire tread had separated from the side wall in a perfect circle. The vehicle was towed to a tire mechanic, where the tire was replaced with a spare tire. The tire manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to take the tire to a licensed tire dealer for evaluation and they would then review the dealer's diagnostic report. The tire failure mileage was unknown. The failure mileage of the vehicle was approximately 86,000.
While driving the vehicle began to suddenly and aggressively shake. Fortunately I was arriving home and I was able to park on my driveway. The following Monday I had a car repair technician connect a car chip reader to the vehicle to run for codes. A transmission code came up for the drive shaft pulley. We looked up recalls for this vin and found one open from 2015. I had my vehicle towed to Stockton Honda where it was purchased and they did the update per the recall. Unfortunately the part that “may break” did in fact break and Honda refuses to take responsibility and refuses to replace the broken piece
Without any warning, my CVT failed completely on the Honda Civic. The car locked up and would not move almost causing an accident. Before this happened I had alerted the dealer twice that the CVT pressure cap had popped off and there was fluid spilled all over the engine. They cleaned it up put the cap back on and said it shouldn’t be a problem. when my transmission failed completely, I saw that the cap had popped off once again, and there was fluid spilled out!
My 2014 Honda Civic currently has 130,000 miles and the transmission is broken. My mechanic said that this vehicle has a CVT transmission and that he has seen many cases of Honda Civics with low mileage with the same problem as mine. I have entered my VIN to search if my model and year were on the recall but it is not on this list. However, it seems like the transmission in my car was defective. I am the original owner and have serviced my car routinely over the past 8 years.
Air Bag warning light intermittently coming on. Has become more frequent. Started at 60,000 miles, infrequent at first but now at 80,000 mile on almost all the time. Brought it in to be checked and at that time warning light was off. Was told it was a safety issue since airbags would not deploy if light was illuminated when in a collision

Airbag safety system cable not functioning : warning light often seen on the dashboard information system (I)
I was driving towards freeway and when merging into the lane, my car shut off. Fortunately it was very busy and full of cars on the freeway that I was able to start up my car yet frightening since we had 4 people in the car which included my mother. Later within 30 minutes we were at s traffic light waiting to go forward and the engine shut off again. It was a warm day around 60 degrees. Why is my car doing this? Taking to shop to hopefully fix this problem.

I have over 150,000 miles on this vehicle. I've followed all recommended maintenance minders as they come up and today I found that the CVT transmission fill plug had popped off, was laying on the transmission with fluid everywhere. I do not know how long the fill cap has been dislodged, but the fill cap should not dislodge on it's own which can lead to early transmission failure.
Transmission cap popped off and fluid leaked out causing transmission to fail. Appears this is a common issue.
The CVT failed at 130k miles. All necessary maintenance was followed and the part failed with no warning. This caused the vehicle to breakdown on the highway.
Transmission filler cap (wine cork style) popped off as in other complaints causing a loss of fluid and the transmission failing. Car seems to be stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear and is no longer drivable. This poor design that has been complained about is causing an unnecessary financial hardship replacing the transmissions.
I had rear brake driver side light change on Tuesday November 16, 2021 at the Hondas dealer Downtown Los Angeles. On Wednesday November 17, 2021 the 3rd rear brake light started a fire in my truck. The light bult overheated melted the cover, burned the fuse and my dress and suit in the trunk started to burn. It smelled horrible. I immediately called the dealer and Honda. The dealer made a diagnosis that the fuse burned but they cannot explain why or if it will happen again if it gets replaced. I am paying $496.62 to the dealer for repair but they cannot determine what cause it? I am very upset because my son is 2 years old and he seats in the rear. I am a single mother and I was dropping him to school when this happened. I don't imagine being exposes to fire or any safety hazard. The driver rear breake light was previously replaced on February of 2021. I found it strange and asked the dealer why is it being replaced too many time and just one side but they cannot explain why. I want an investigation or some kind of explanation why my vehicle catch fire. I dont know if Honda is manufacturing vehicles with faulty electric wire in the trunk causing fires and damages. I want to prevent future deaths. It was a very scary, stressful situation, traumatic experience. My dress has a hole and my suit inside the truck were damage expenses adding to $1,512.00.Please help me investigate this matter. Thank you.
While driving especially accelerating from a stop front end of car started vibrating and jerking.Qualified mechanic inspected the drive train and concluded there was a damage to the pulley shaft that could not have been due to wear and Tear. Mechanic said issue was identical to Honda recall ju2 15v574000. I was advised to take vehicle to Honda. On the way to Honda the transmission gave out in the middle of an intersection. Good samaritans helped push vehicle to near by parking lot. Vehicle was towed to Honda of Dartmouth, Ma
Car without notice started going under 20 mph and then under 2mph. Towed to Proctor Honda in Tallahassee FL for diagnosis and they said the transmission is inoperable and the internal components failed which is the exact same problem that is stated in the other 2014 Honda Civic recalls. They claim this VIN is not one of the recalled VINS i believe it is.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. I was in an accident in October of last year, and when my vehicle was hit none of my airbags were deployed. we no longer have access to the vehicle to inspect it. none of my airbags deployed and I don't want that to happen to anyone else. it was inspected by police and by Gerber. and no there were no warnings.
While driving the car we had heard an explosion and glass shattering. We looked around and couldn’t see any damage. I had pulled back my sunroof and saw it was completely shattered outwards, not inwards. My sunroof was made out of tempered glass, which these types of sunroofs have a tendency of randomly combusting.
The contact owned a 2014 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the passenger's side front tire drove over a pothole, causing the driver's side front air bag to deploy. The driver's side air bag struck her on the right arm. The contact slammed on the brake pedal and the vehicle drove off-road, crashing into an embankment that damaged the front end of the vehicle. The contact received medical attention on the scene for cuts and bruises to her right arm. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The fill cap for the transmission keeps coming out of my transmission on my 2014 honda civic LX ans there is transmission fluid everywhere.
1- vsa mod Yes we hav the part. still in the car as it is costly ti repair. 2- the break is stiff and doesn't work on first try at times. But not always. have ended to use emergency brake a few times. 3- confirmed by a Honda dealer. 4 - Honda dealer 5- no.
The plug for the automatic transmission fluid pops off and allows for all contaminates and water to enter transmission unknowingly. This was noticed at 94k miles on ours and on forums is a highly reoccurring item that needs to be addressed by Honda before transmissions begin failing from a "popping" plug that falls out while driving unbeknownst to the driver.
Started my car in neutral with the parking brake engaged. The car took off by itself up a curb over a hill and struck another vehicle. I managed to get back in the vehicle and applied the brakes but the brakes did not respond. And my car was serviced at Freeway Honda in Santa Ana three days prior to the accident. I reported the problem with the brakes, they did a brake service, but they did not properly diagnose the issue and fix it. They told me they couldn’t find any problems and release the car back to me. Three days later it was in an accident and the brakes failed. Now freeway Honda has stated that they finally diagnosed the issue with the brakes, but they are refusing to fix it free of charge even though they have been deemed liable for the accident. My rear shocks were also damaged due to the impact of going up the curb and State Farm is investigating that to see if they will be paying for the repair and replacement of the shocks.
Emergency break (break) button is unstable and easily broken. Ebrake has been stuck were it was unable to perform it's function because of broken button. Part is in back order and my car may not be able to use ebreak sometimes. It can roll of not on stable ground or in gear when parked.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE FREEWAY AND WHEN I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY I STOPPED AT THE STOP LIGHT WHEN IT TURNED GREEN I STARTED TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR STARTED JERKING BACK AND FORTH LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL I PUSHED ON THE GAS A LITTLE MORE AND IT CONTINUED TO JERK AT EACH STOP LIGHT WHEN I ACCELERATED. NO WARNING LIGHT CAME ON NO CODES AND IT JUST HAPPENED SUDDENLY WITH OUT WARNING . I PARKED IT AND TOOK IT TO THE SHOP THE FOLLOWING MORNING
I was sold a lemon in July 2015 from Victory Honda San Bruno.my VIN comes up as a 2014 Civic LX instead of EX-L.I never noticed the model difference until I had to look up recalls etc 'cause my pulley shaft stopped@ 94kmiles whilr on the freeway.Honda in Oakland&San bruno wanted $8k to fix it,ran my credit 4x for financing justtosay, not approved&my tranny cancels a $9k buyback/trade in.Honda of Oakland allowed a rep. to switch my car info w/someone else's, my last name, mileage, model, etc &allowed someone to pickup my car from them &didn't notify me for 4days,they also wanted$600 for tests, service AorB,trany flush(i didn't authorize)&my car(no previous engine problems)still doesnt drive. It has only been serviced at those 2 honda locations.I was NEVER notified&have these issues..PULLEY SHAFT#JU2,TIRE BEAD #JD8,now the AIRBAG RECALLS.On Nhtsa.gov/recalls,theres hundreds of owners w/my VIN #s minus the last 5-8 #s w/the same problems esp at 90k mile.my car is PAID OFF
Automatic steering keeps going off (warning light is coming on the dash) and he has to steer manually; unable to do so in a safe manner; steering essentially locked
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE CITY STREETS WHEN THE CVT TRANSMISSION STARTED TO MAKE THE CAR ACT ERRATIC STOP AND GO STOP AND GO. I HAD TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL SO THAT I COULD CONTROL IT AND MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS SO GLAD I WASN'T ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I PURCHASE THE CAR USED IN APRIL OF 2015. I ALWAYS HAD THE CAR SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN SERVICE WAS DUE. AND TWO YEARS AGO I HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN AFTER GETTING OFF THE FREEWAY. AT THAT TIME THE CAR HAD WENT OVER 100K MILES SO I HAD TO PAY $2000 TO REPLACE IT. AND IT LOOKS LIKE I'M GOING TO BE PAYING $2000 AGAIN. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE CTV TRANSMISSION, UNTIL A FEW DAYS AGO WHEN I WAS LOOKING TO SEE IF ANY ONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM. BECAUSE I PURCHASE THE CAR USED I WANTED TO SEE IF THE RECALL WAS TAKEN CARE OF, IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS. BUT I DON'T THINK THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE IS THE COMPLETE FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. SO MANY PEOPLE ARE STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. SOME WITH LOW MILEAGE LIKE MY SECOND TRANSMISSION AND MOST OF THEM FAIL AROUND 100K. I KNOW NOTHING LAST FOR EVER, AND I WILL PAY $2000 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION IF I CAN BE SURE THAT IT WILL NOT JUST ALL OUT OF THE BLUE LOCKUP OR BRAKE PART OF THE DRIVE TRAIN AND PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER
DRIVING ON 95 NORTH AROUND 4PM MONDAY 03/29/2021 WHEN TRANSMISSION FAILED. THERE WERE NO LOUD NOISES, NO SERVICE WARNINGS OR LIGHTS. CAR HAS ABOUT 75,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS LAST SERVICED IN 2018 AT 60,000 MILES. THE CAR HAS ROUTINE MAINTENANCE RECORDS. THE RECALL (NHTSA ID: 15V574000) WAS PERFORMED IN 2016 WHICH WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE DUE TO A MECHANICAL TRANSMISSION PROBLEM.
TRANSMISSION FILL PLUG POPPED OUT OF ITS POSITION ON TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION FILL PORT. CAUSING LEAKING TRANS FLUID AND NOW TRANSMISSION FAILED.
TRANSMISSION FILL PLUG POPPING OUT OF ITS POSITION ON TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION FILL PORT. CAUSING LEAKING TRANS FLUID AND POSSIBLE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. DEALERSHIP HAS CHECKED THIS ISSUE 1 TIME AND STATES THE ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED. LESS THAN 3 DAYS LATER THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED.
AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY, CAR DEVELOPS A ELECTRICAL DRAIN TO BATTERY. BATTERY WILL SLOWLY DISCHARGE UNTIL DEAD OVER 2-4 DAYS. NOTHING ABOUT THIS OR HOW TO PREVENT THIS IN MANUAL. NOTHING IN MANUAL ON HOW TO CORRECT.
YESTERDAY THE CHECK AIRBAG SYSTEM LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON MY 2014 HONDA. AFTER HAVING A MECHANIC CHECK THE ERROR CODE, HE CONFIRMED THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH MY AIRBAG INFLATOR. MY VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000 MILES AND IS DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY ONCE A WEEK. THE ISSUE OCCURRED WHEN I TURNED MY VEHICLE ON AND STARTED DRIVING.
AT 87,200 OR SO MILES, THE SYSTEM FAIL ALERT FOR AIRBAG CAME ON AND WE TOOK TO MECHANIC TO DIAGNOSE, THEN WE TOOK TO HONDA DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR. SYSTEM CHECK SAID IT WAS DRIVER AIRBAG ISSUE, MECHANIC CONTACTED HONDA AND WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE . AT THE DIAGNOSTIC INDICTED TO REPLACE CABLE REEL (379.00) REPLACED AND LIGHT STAYED OFF AT DEALERSHIP AT 87,588. LIGHT CAME BACK ON NEXT DAY. IS THE AIRBAG DEFECTIVE AND HONDA IS NOT ADMITTING IT? DOES THIS AIRBAG NEED TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED? I AM FOLLOWING UP WITH DEALERSHIP TODAY. CAR SERVICED THE 18TH, LIGHT CAME BACK ON 19TH OF JANUARY 2021, I AM FOLLOWING UP TODAY WITH DEALERSHIP. IS THIS UNSAFE TO DRIVE? WILL DRIVER AIRBAG DEPLOY?
ON JANUARY 17,2021, I WAS DRIVING ON A 2 LANE ROAD GOING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH (THE SPEED LIMIT) AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL OF MY CARS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE CAR STARTED DECELERATING. WHEN I PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR REVED BUT DIDN'T PICK UP SPEED. I PULLED OVER OFF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON. THE CAR WOULD START BUT NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP AN HOUR AWAY AND THEY SAID IT'S GOING TO BE $6000 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THEY SAID MY SPECIFIC CAR HAD NO RECALLS ON IT AND THAT SOMETIMES THINGS JUST BREAK. THE MECHANIC NOTED THAT MY CAR IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE OTHERWISE.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY INTERSTATE WITH NUMEROUS CARS AROUND ME, MY CAR GAVE A SMALL JERK. AFTER THIS, MY CAR MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT HAD NO POWER. WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS, NO POWER BEHIND IT. I WAS COASTING AND SLOWING DOWN. AFTER ALMOST GETTING RUN OVER BY THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME, I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE ARE MULTIPLE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH THE TRANSMISSION FOR THIS YEAR MODEL.
