THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PRIVATE LOT DIRECTLY OUTSIDE MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. I WORK IN A REMOTE LOCATION WITH LITTLE TO NO TRAFFIC EXCEPT FOR EMPLOYEES ENTERING/LEAVING THE BUILDING. IT WAS LATE IN THE EVENING, I AUTO-STARTED THE CAR CAUSE IT HAD BEEN RAINING EARLIER IN THE DAY, WENT OUTSIDE, ENTERED THE VEHICLE, SHUT THE DOOR, AND IMMEDIATELY I HEARD GLASS FALLING. I LOOKED IN THE BACK SEAT AND SAW THE REAR WINDSHIELD HAD SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED FROM EDGE TO EDGE, ALL PARTS OF THE GLASS WAS BROKEN INTO SMALL SHARDS. IT SCARED ME CAUSE THE GLASS WAS FINE IN THE MORNING. I LOOKED AROUND AND NO OBJECTS WERE PRESENT TO DRAW A CONCLUSION THAT THE WINDOW HAD BEEN STRUCK. CALLED THE POLICE, BUT IT WASN'T AN EMERGENCY SO THEY DID NOT COME TO TAKE A REPORT. THE VEHICLE IS A LEASE WITH WARRANTY, SO I OPENED A CASE TO HAVE THE DAMAGE COVERED AS A DEFECT IN THE GLASS BASED ON THE COMPLAINTS MADE FROM OTHERS WHO EXPERIENCED SIMILAR LOSSES. HONDA REFUSED TO HONOR THE WARRANTY. THEY WOULDN'T PROVIDE ANY WRITTEN STATEMENT, I WAS ONLY TOLD ON THE PHONE THAT MANAGEMENT DOESN'T BELIEVE THERE'S ANY DEFECTS IN THE GLASS. I ASKED FOR THE GLASS TO BE TESTED AND THIS WAS REFUSED BY HONDA AS WELL. I REQUESTED A TRANSCRIPT OF THE CONVERSATION AND WAS TOLD I WOULD NEED TO SEND THEM A SUBPOENA. IT IS MY OPINION THAT UNLESS AN OFFICIAL AGENCY SUCH AS THE NHTSA INTERVENES ON BEHALF OF CONSUMERS, THEN HONDA HAS LITTLE TO NO CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF IT'S CUSTOMERS. FOR THIS REASON, I AM SHARING MY EXPERIENCE IN THE HOPE THAT HONDA WILL BE MADE TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR MISLEADING AND ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF OTHERS.
RANDOMLY I RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGE ON MY SCREEN WHEN STARTING MY CAR, "BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM". THE ONLY WAY FOR ME TO REMOVE THE ERROR IS TO START WITH MY CAR IN PARK, AND MOVE FROM R, N, D, S, L, AND BACK UP TO PARK AGAIN. THEN I PRESS THE BREAK HOLD ON, THEN BREAK HOLD OFF, PARKING BREAK ON, THEN PARKING BREAK OFF, TURN OFF THE CAR, THEN TURN THE CAR BACK ON AND THE ERROR GOES AWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES SINCE I LEASED THE CAR IN 2016 AND HAPPENED THREE TIMES JUST IN THIS MONTH. ALWAYS HAPPENS RANDOMLY. AFTER TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP A NUMBER OF TIMES AND LETTING THEM KNOW OF THE ISSUE THEY NOW RUN A FULL DIAGNOSTICS THAT MY WARRANTY IS OUT AND THINK IT HAS TO DO WITH A BAD CELL IN THE BATTERY. SO EITHER THERE IS A FAULT WITH THE ELECTRICAL BREAK SYSTEM OR THE BATTERIES IN THE 2016 HONDA CIVICS ARE BAD. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH WILL SHOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE.
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END/SIDE COLLISION. WHEN TOLD BY COLLISION SHOP THE VEHICLE WAS FINISHED AND UPON COMING IN TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE, OBVIOUS STRUCTURAL DAMAGE REMAINED UNTOUCHED, AND UNREPAIRED ENGINE DAMAGE WAS OBVIOUS. COLLISION SHOP AND INSURANCE COMPANY INSISTED VEHICLE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETE AND FOUGHT ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FINALLY TAKEN, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND A DTC CODE WAS THRON. ADDITIONAL ISSUES WITH THE INTEGRITY OF THE VEHICLE POST COLLISION WERE NOTED AND BOTH COLLISION SHOP AND INSURANCE COMPANY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE SAFETY ISSUES AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE TO SAFETY STANDARDS. NEITHER THE COLLISION SHOP NOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY IS FAMILIAR WITH THE NEW 2016 CIVIC BODY, DIAGNOSTICS, CRASH ZONES, AND HONDA POSITION STATEMENTS ISSUED FOR THE PARTICULAR MODEL. THE VEHICLE WAS SPECIFICALLY PURCHASED FOR A NEWLY LICENSED DRIVER, WITH SAFETY BEING THE TOP PRIORITY. THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER SAFE AND IT WOULD BE TRAGIC TO HAVE ANOTHER ACCIDENT, WHERE THE OTHER DRIVER IS AT FAULT, WITH A MUCH WORSE OUTCOME BECAUSE THE INTEGRITY OF THIS THIS VEHICLE IS COMPROMISED DUE TO INADEQUATE REPAIR. UNFORTUNATELY I CANNOT LOAD ALL THE REPAIR PHOTOS, BUT THE HOOD IS NOT FITTED, THE PILLARS ARE BUCKLED, THE FOOT ROCKERS/ FLOOR PAN IS LOOSE.
THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGES WHEN THERE ARE NO OBJECTS IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE SYSTEM HAS ENGAGED ERRONEOUSLY NUMEROUS TIMES, WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND AT HIGH SPEEDS (65-70 MPH), AND THE BRAKE ENGAGES ATTEMPTING TO BRING MY VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP (HARD BRAKE). SOMETIMES I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET IT TO DISENGAGE, BUT I HAVE HAD SEVERAL "CLOSE CALLS" WITH DRIVERS BEHIND ME NEARLY REAR-ENDING ME ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR UNEXPECTED BRAKED (HARD). ONE TIME, THE BRAKES ENGAGED ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO ONE AND NOTHING IN FRONT OF ME, AND I HAD TO PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER QUICKLY (TO AVOID THE DRIVER BEHIND ME REAR-ENDING ME) AND GOT A FLAT TIRE AS A RESULT. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE ISSUE, BUT THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GET MY VEHICLE TO DEMONSTRATE/ENGAGE IN THE BEHAVIOR I WAS DESCRIBING, AND THEREFORE, SAID THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. I ALSO REPORTED IT TO HONDA WARRANTY OVER THE PHONE. THEY THANKED ME FOR REPORTING IT AND SUGGESTED I CONTACT A DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED - THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT FIX IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF, THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN AN INCLINE INTO A PARKING LOT, AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS IN THE DRIVE POSITION. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (GERMAIN HONDA OF ANN ARBOR, 2601 S STATE ST, ANN ARBOR, MI 48104) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,473.
FUEL IS LEAKING INTO THE OIL. THE DEALER JUST SUGGESTED CHANGING THE OIL MORE OFTEN. I KNOW THIS IS A DEFECT BUT WHAT CAN I DO? THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS NOT RELIABLE....ONE DAY MY PASSENGER WINDOW WOULD NOT WORK FROM MY CONTROL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. FINALLY IT DID--THIS WAS WHEN PARKED. THEY REPLACED ONCE AND THEN "UPDATED" THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM ONCE BECAUSE OF VERY DISRUPTIVE THINGS THAT HAPPEN ON THE SCREEN WHILE DRIVING. ONCE (THIS WAS PARKED) IT TOTALLY LOCKED UP MY IPHONE SO THAT I COULD NOT USE IT EVEN AFTER I SHUT THE CAR OFF (I WAS PARKED AND HAD TURNED THE CAR ON ) AND REBOOTED MY PHONE! ONCE I GOT LOCKED OUT OF MY CAR AFTER OPENING THE TRUNK AND CLOSING IT...MY FOB WOULD NOT WORK AND WHEN I USED THE KEY, IT SET OFF THE ALARM, FLASHED THE LIGHTS AND RESET ALL MY PERSONAL SETTINGS. SOMETIMES THE STEERING WHEEL RADIO CONTROLS LOCK UP AND DON'T WORK. MANY TIMES THE RADIO SCREEN GOES BLACK WHEN I AM DRIVING AND NOT TOUCHING IT. ONE TIME IT STARTED BEEPING AND WOULD NOT STOP....VERY DANGEROUS AS I TRY TO DRIVE WITH THE BEEPING. AND, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE VERY SPORADIC....DOES NOT MATTER IF I TRY RESETTING THEM TO AUTO....WHEN IT IS NOT RAINING THEY GO CRAZY, WHEN IT IS RAINING THEY STOP....SOMETIMES THEY WORK, SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. I HAVE TO SPEND TOO MUCH TIME TRYING TO GET THE CAR SYSTEMS TO WORK WHILE DRIVING THAT THIS IS AS DANGEROUS AS CAN BE. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THIS CAR IS A LEMON...AND HAS BEEN FROM THE START. I HAVE AT MOST ABOUT 9,000 MILES ON THIS CAR BUT STARTED NOTICING GLITCHES LONG BEFORE 6,000. THIS IS THE TOP OF THE LINE CAR IN THIS MODEL.
THE FRONT WHEELS ARE GOING TO FALL OFF..THROWING CODES FOR STABILITY MALFUNCTION ASSIST, ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE, ELECTRIC POWER STEERING..I HAVE BEEN TREATED AWFUL BY 3 HONDA DEALERSHIP AND I REFUSE TO PAY FOR THIS VEHICLE THAT I'M GOING TO DIE IN..BRUSH GUARD FELL DOWN BEING HELD WITH BAILING TWINE
RANDOMLY HEARD A POP, AND THE AC STOPPED WORKING. TOOK CAR TO A DEALERSHIP THAT TRIED TO TELL ME IT WAS ROAD HAZARD DAMAGE. AFTER LEAVING HONDA I CALLED BACK TO INQUIRE MORE INFORMATION, HONDA REFUSED TO SHOW ME THE ISSUE BUT TOLD ME THEY WOULD CHARGE ME $200 FOR A DIAGNOSIS FEE. SOMETHING SEEMED WRONG. CHECKED ONLINE AND SAW THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. CALLED HONDA CORPORATE AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT FOR A SECOND OPINION ELSEWHERE. THEY KNEW ABOUT THE AC ISSUES AND SAID IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY EXCEPT MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE OF HIGH MILEAGE. WITHOUT THE AC THE DEFOGGER DOESN'T WORK. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE IN CERTAIN WEATHER CONDITIONS. NOT SURE HOW TO GET HONDA TO RECALL THIS BUT IT SEEMS THEY HAVE A HISTORY OF AC UNITS NOT WORKING PROPERLY IN CARS. IF SOMEONE DIES ON THE ROADWAY BECAUSE OF A VISIBILITY ISSUE, HONDA WILL HAVE A MAJOR LAWSUIT AHEAD OF THEM. HELP US HONDA OWNERS GET THE RECALL WE DESERVE SO WE CAN SAFELY DRIVE THE CARS WE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON. THIS IS UNSAFE AND NOT OKAY!
I love my Civic and I debated if reporting the issue, but in the interest of safety here it is: When you have to brake hard and suddenly (someone cuts you off) the car loses power (will not accelerate just coasts) for a second or two, but it seems like an eternity if you are in an intersection trying to get out of the way of aggresive traffic. After that power is back and the car is as excellent as it always has been. Incident has happened 3 or 4 times since I got the car in 2016.
ISSUES: UNDER SPLASH / GUARD FALLING DOWN - YONKERS HONDA SERVICE PARTS STATE IT IS PHYSICAL DAMAGE FOR THE UNDER SPLASH GUARD TO FALL DOWN AND NOT POSSIBLY THE SCREWS GETTING LOOSE. YONKER SERVICE PARTS SAID IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND THAT I MUST OF WENT OVER SOMETHING THAT PULLED DOWN THE UNDER GUARD. I NOW HAVE 11,900 MILES AND CAR UNDER 2 YEARS OLD. INITIALLY I HAD TO GO TO A LOCAL DEALER TO NOT REPLACE BUT TO PUT SCREWS IN, SO I COULD GO TO MY HONDA SERVICE TO INSPECT WHY THIS HAPPENED ON A NEW CAR. I WAS ONLY CHARGED $71 TO PUT SCREWS IN. ALL PARTS WERE STILL INTACT AFTER SPLASH DROPPED AND I HAD TO DRIVE TO GET MY SERVICE TO A PLACE CLOSER HOME BECAUSE DRAGGING MY UNDER GUARDS WOULD MEAN GREATER DAMAGE. BY THE TIME I MADE IT TO HONDA SERVICE, THE SPLASH DROPPED AGAIN AND HONDA STATED I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE UNDERGUARDS THAT WERE STILL IN TACT BUT A LITTLE BENT FROM DRAGGING. THEY SAID IT WAS EXTERNAL PHYSICAL DAMAGE AND NOT A DEFECT AND THEN QUOTED ME $400 AND PUT TIES UP SO I CAN DRIVE THE CAR. I LOOKED UP THE PARTS AT A HONDA PARTS SERVICE DEALER AND THE PARTS I AM QUOTED ARE WAY MORE THAN WHAT I NOTICED FOR THE MARKET. FOUR MONTHS INTO HAVING MY CAR, ALL 4 CAR WINDOWS COME HALFWAY DOWN AFTER EXITING THE CAR AND PRESSING DOWN THE LOCK WITH REMOTE. NO INFORMATION ON WHY THIS IS HAPPENING IN THE HONDA MANUAL. HONDA SEVICE AUTO PARTS ADVISOR STATED THIS IS NORMAL AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO DO. PHOTOS SHOW INITIAL FALL OF UNDER SPLASH IN JANUARY
CAR HAS 19800 MILES. THIS MONDAY WILL BE THE 4TH TIME I WILL BE AT DEALER BECAUSE THE A/C IS ONCE AGAIN BLOWING WARM AIR. AFTER THE 3RD TIME I SWITCHED DEALERS. THEY REPLACED THE LINES AND THAT WAS SHORT LIVED. JUST BEFORE THE WARRANTY ENDED I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR $1500. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE. EACH TIME IT TAKES 3.5 HRS. TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC. CORPORATE SUPPOSEDLY KNOWS OF THE PROBLEMS. NOTHING IS BEING DONE. DO A SEARCH ON GOOGLE ON THIS CAR WITH A/C PROBLEMS AND THERE ARE MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS
AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR 5+ MINUTES, THE STEERING HAS A CATCH IN IT. EVEN GOING AROUND TURNS, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL STICK IN THE POSITION (I CAN TAKE MY HANDS OFF THE WHEEL AND IT STAYS IN THE SAME TURNING POSITION IT'S IN) MAKING ME USE SMALL FORCE TO PULL THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO THE STRAIGHT POSITION WHEN IT SHOULD TURN BACK NATURALLY. IT DOES THE SAME THING ON STRAIGHT ROADS LIKE AN INTERSTATE. IT MAKES KEEPING LANE CONTROL DIFFICULT WHEN THE VEHICLE MAY VEAR TO A CERTAIN SIDE. CAUSING THE CAR TO BE 'JERKY'
THE SENSOR OF THE GAS TANK (I MEAN CAPKESS SENSOR) FAIL TO STOP WHEN FINISH TO FILL IT UP WITH GASOLINE, PRODUCING THE GAS TO COMING OUT AND THERE'S 100% OF 🔥 FIRE AT THE GAS STATION CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MANY PEOPLE IN THE GAS STATION. THIS RISK NEVER HAPPEN WITH MY CR-V 2009 AND NISSAN SENTRA 2009.
2016 HONDA CIVIC. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SOFTWARE ISSUES RESULTING FROM NEW CAMERA AND SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING INSTALLATION. *LD *JS THE CONSUMER STATED THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, GPS, LANE KEEP ASSIST, AND THE ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION WERE INTERMITTENTLY INOPERABLE. *JS *JS
STEERING WHEEL STICKS WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING OVER COMPENSATION, HAS CAUSED ME TO RUN OFF THE ROAD; DRIVING STRAIGHT, 60MPH, INTERSTATE CAR FAILS TO START AFTER DRIVING MORE THAN AN HOUR AND A HALF AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, BEENCTO DEALER FOR BOTH OF THESE ISSUES AND HAVE HAD NO RESOLUTION.
A RODENT CRAWLED UP INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND CHEWED UP THE WIRES TO COIL CONNECTOR. IT MADE ALL OF THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS TO COME ON AND THE ENGINE WAS SHAKING DUE TO THE MIS-FIRING COIL. IT IS HONDA FAULT BECAUSE THEY COVERED/MADE THE WIRES WITH SOY, WHICH ATTRACTS RODENTS. MY 2016 CIVIC IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD WITH 9,500 MILES, HONDA CLAIMS IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. HONDA THEN, WANTED TO SELL ME A $500 ENGINE WIRING HARNESS, THIS IS RIDICULES, BECAUSE IT DOESN'T RESOLVE THE PROBLEM, THE RODENTS WILL BE ATTRACTED TO THE NEW WIRE HARNESS TOO. THEY ALSO WANTED TO SELL ME SPICY RODENT TAPE FOR $48, THIS IS A SCAM, HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, THEY WILL BE LOSING LOYAL CUSTOMERS. IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY, IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FATAL ACCIDENT.
PAINT PEELING AT BOTTOM OF LEFT FRONT BUMPER. CAR IS GARAGED. PROBLEM NOTICED 2/7/18. I CAN SLIDE MY NAIL UNDER THE PAINT & CONTINUE TO PEE IT. CAR TO BE SEEN AT HONDA DEALER 3/12/18 & PHOTO OF AREA OF PEEL TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED & SENT TO APPROPRIATE HONDA DEPARTMENT FOR REVIEW. THIS IS DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURING DEFICIT!
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. I HEARD A LARGE BANG SOUND LOOKED IN MY REVIEW AND SAW A DARK FLAT OBJECT PASSING. THIS OBJECT WAS A CENTER PORTION OF THE SUNROOF GLASS. I DID NOT HIT ANY BUMPS OR HAVE ANYTHING FALL OR STRIKE THE VEHICLE. WEATHER WAS 55F AND SUNNY. VERY FEW GLASS PIECES FELL ONTO THE INTERIOR VISOR AND THE GLASS STILL INTACT APPEARS TO BE PUSHED UP SLIGHTLY INDICATING THAT NOTHING STRUCK THE GLASS TO PUSH DEBRIS DOWN.
TRUNK AND WINDOWS OPEN ON THEIR OWN. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, ENGINE OFF, PARKED. BRAKE HOLD COMES ON AUTOMATICALLY WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS IN CITY. REMOTE LOCK/UNLOCK ON KEY HAS INTERMITTENTLY NOT WORKED. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON HIGHWAY, DOORS KEPT LOCKING AND UNLOCKING ON THEIR OWN. VERY FEARFUL ABOUT THE ELECTRONICS SYSTEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER THE COURSE OF THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AROUND 8:20 AM ON 8 JAN 2018 WHEN MY SUNROOF EXPLODED IN MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS 43 DEGREES (THE TEMPERATURE WAS NOT BELOW FREEZING THE NIGHT BEFORE). I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AND THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC IMMEDIATELY AROUND ME. I DID NOT HEAR ANYTHING HIT THE CAR AND THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THE SUNROOF WAS ABOUT TO EXPLODE (I.E., VIBRATION, CRACKING SOUNDS). THE GLASS, FOR THE MOST PART, BLEW OUT OF THE CAR, BUT THERE WAS SOME THAT FELL INTO THE CAR ON TOP OF ME. THE SOUND WAS SIMILAR TO A GUNSHOT -- QUITE STARTLING. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER AND CALLED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP.
FUEL LEAKS OUT OF THE CAP LESS SYSTEM WHEN FILLING GAS. AMOUNT OF FUEL VARIES. CALLED HONDA AND GOT NO HELP. THERE IS AN EXISTING DOCUMENT ON NHTSA WEBSITE, BUT NO UPDATES FROM HONDA. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN JULY 2016. EVERY TIME I CHANGE OR CHECK MY OIL, THERE IS A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL. WHEN I TAKE THE DIP STICK OUT AND SMELL IT, ALL I SMELL IS GASOLINE.
THE STEERING WHEEL ON MY 2016 CIVIC SEDAN EX-T BECOMES JERKY OR STICKY AFTER DRIVING ROUGHLY 30 MINUTES ON A HOT DAY. IT MAKES HIGHWAY DRIVING VERY DANGEROUS. WHEN MAKING SMALL ADJUSTMENTS FROM ON CENTER, THE STEERING WHEEL IS HITTING RESISTANCE SIDE TO SIDE. YOU ARE FORCED TO OVERPOWER IT LOCKING UP CAUSING UNINTENTIONAL SWERVING. WHY DOESN'T THE SAFETY RECALL FOR 2017-2018 STEERING GEARBOX REPLACEMENT ALSO APPLY TO 2016 MODEL YEARS? I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE AT LEAST 60K MILES, NOW AT OVER 100K. I HAVE HAD TO SWITCH TO WORKING OVERNIGHTS DURING THE SUMMER TO AVOID THIS VERY ISSUE. I HAVE FOUND THAT TAKING THE UNDER TRAY OFF EXTENDED MY DRIVING TIME SLIGHTLY BEFORE THE ISSUE REAPPEARS. HOWEVER, THIS CREATES A PARACHUTE UNDER MY CAR NOW THE UNDER TRAY IS REMOVED. NOW SUMMER IS BACK, I AM HERE NOW TO PLEAD WITH SOMEONE TO PLEASE FORCE HONDA TO REMEDY THIS OBVIOUS FLAW. *When driving my 2016 Honda Civic LX at any speed you can feel the steering wheel stick then gets loose. This has been happening since 2018. I thought it was an Alignment issue, so i had an alignment completed, then another alignment completed in March 2025. However that was not the issue. *This is a SAFETY issue and puts me and others on the highway at risk, this is a safety issue every time i drive, it puts everyone in danger. It hinders my steering effort and with difficulty, potentially can lead to a crash. There is excessive friction and that makes it difficult to steer. *YES the problem have been confirmed by a Honda Dealership on 7.2025. this is my 2nd notice to NHTSA. I have also called AMERICAN HONDA no response yet. *It has been inspected by the HONDA dealership service department. *NO warning at all. (documents attached)

SO IAM LEFT WITH A BLACK MONITOR SCREEN NOT ABLE TO OPERATE MY SYSTEM
SOYBEAN WIRING ATTRACTING ANIMALS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR 1 YEAR AND IT HAS HAPPEND TWICE WITH OVER 6,000 WORTH OR DAMAGE. LOCKED BRAKES, STEERING, ELECTRICAL . A CHILD RIDES IN THE CAR, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT WAS NEVER EXPLAINED TO ME. PULLED OVER TO PARK. AFTER TRYING TO RESTART MY VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START EVEN WITH A JUMP ALL SYSTEMS, BRAKES STEERING LOCKED.
2016 HONDA CIVIC LEASED IN OCTOBER OF 2016. I HAD SEVERAL ERROR MESSAGES COME ON SCREEN FOR MULTIPLE ISSUES SO I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD AN ANIMAL CHEWED THROUGH SEVERAL WIRES AND CAUSED THE POWER STEERING TO GO OUT. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AS THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES TO CARS BROUGHT IN. THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRENTY ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURING ISSUE. SO NOT ONLY DID I LOSE POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING WHICH IS A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN ESPECIALLY WHILE DRIVING MY 6 MONTH OLD CHILD IN THE VEHICLE, BUT ITS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO FOOT THE $240 BILL TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE. ALSO THERE IS NO CLEAR SOLUTION TO PREVENT ANIMALS FROM AGAIN CHEWING THE WIRES AND PUTTING MY FAMILY AND I AT RISK AGAIN. THERE IS A DENT ON MY CAR'S REAR UPPER QUARTER PANEL (C-PILLAR CREASE) ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THIS DENT IS PRESENT ON ALL 2016 AND 2017 CIVIC SEDAN CARS' EITHER ON DRIVER'S SIDE OR PASSENGER'S SIDE. HONDA DEALER DIDN'T ACCEPT THIS AS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND THEY REFUSED TO FIX IT. ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS NO OFFICIAL EXPLANATION FROM HONDA ABOUT THE ISSUE. I SUSPECT THAT IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS DENT PROBLEM EXISTS GLOBALLY, IT'S NOT A REGION SPECIFIC PROBLEM AS I HAVE SEEN.
MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC COUPE TOURING WAS PARKED IN MY ATTACHED GARAGE AT NIGHT WITH ALL WINDOWS AND SUNROOF SHUT. IN THE MORNING WHEN I WENT TO THE GARAGE, BOTH WINDOWS AND THE SUNROOF (WHICH I NEVER USE) WERE WIDE OPEN. IN READING MULTIPLE CAR FORUMS, THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON, HOWEVER HONDA REFUSES TO ADMIT THERE IS AN ISSUE. I BELIEVE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH A FOB FUNCTION THAT IS PROGRAMMED TO INTENTIONALLY PERFORM THE WINDOWS/SUNROOF OPEN FUNCTION WITH THE FOB. HOWEVER, THIS FUNCTION HAS NO MEANS OF DEACTIVATION!! THIS CAUSES A RISK TO ALL CONTENTS OF THE CAR. DEACTIVATION SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE MADE BY CAR OWNER.
CRACK IN WINDSHIELD 5 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR FROM DEALER. WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MANUFACTURE OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. REPLACED, AND ONE YEAR LATER, REPLACEMENT GLASS HAS CRACK. REPLACED AND TWO MONTHS LATER, GLASS CRACKS AFTER HIT WITH DEBRIS FROM FREEWAY. IS THIS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE DESIGN OF THE CAR? DOES THIS FALL INTO THE "LEMON LAW?"
"TAKATA RECALL" I BOUGHT VEHICLE IN LATE SEP 2016. DEALER SAID RECALL WAS DONE. HAD MINOR ACCIDENT NOV. 2017, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY?? OFFICER AT SCENE THOUGHT THAT TO BE UNUSUAL.
BROUGHT 2016 HONDA CIVIC TO DEALERSHIP WITH A/C NOT PROPERLY WORKING (BLOWING WARM AIR), WAS TOLD PRIOR TO DROP OFF THAT IT WAS LIKELY A STONE THAT HIT THE CONDENSER CAUSING A LEAK. DIAGNOSTIC TEST COST $135 + TAX, WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A STONE THAT PUNCTURED THE CONDENSER, WAS ASSIMILATED TO "JUST AS IF A STONE HAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND CRACKED IT, IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED." WINDSHIELDS ARE DESIGNED TO DEFLECT DEBRIS. THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AND APPEARS TO BE A COMMON (PREVIOUS CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS SETTLED ON EARLIER HONDA VEHICLES WITH THIS EXACT PROBLEM: "A ROCK PUNCTURING THE CONDENSER" DUE TO DESIGN FLAW). THIS IS ABSURD TO NOT TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE AND CHARGE CONSUMERS $900+ FOR A PROBLEM THAT COULD EASILY HAPPEN AGAIN IF A "SMALL ROCK OR PEBBLE" IS ABLE TO PUNCTURE A PART. 17,800 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, 18 MONTHS OLD. IF A SMALL PEBBLE CAN RUIN A CUSTOMER'S AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE, WHICH PER WARRANTY GUIDELINES IS NEITHER AN "ACCIDENT" OR "ABUSE" TO THE VEHICLE, IS THIS VEHICLE EVEN SUITED TO BE ON THE ROAD? VERY DISAPPOINTING AS I WAS A LIFE LONG HONDA OWNER.

CAPLESS GAS TANK ALWAYS BACKFLOWS AND SPILLS GAS ONTO THE CAR IF I WAIT FOR THE GAS PUMP TO AUTO SHUT OFF. THIS NEVER HAPPENED WITH ANY OF THE OLDER CARS I HAVE OWNED. TO AVOID THIS FROM HAPPENING NOW I MANUALLY STOP THE GAS PUMP BEFORE THE TANK IS FULL.

WILL BRING THE CAR TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP, IF THEY CANNOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE, WILL TRADE CAR IN IMMEDIATELY (CAR HAS LESS THAN 10K MILES ON IT). MILO GORDON HONDA MISREPRESENTED THE REPAIR OF A SAFETY RECALL AND SOLD A 2016 HONDA CIVIC AS A NEW VEHICLE WITHOUT COMPLETING THE REPAIR. ON DEC 31 2016, I PURCHASED A NEW 2016 HONDA CIVIC FROM MILO GORDON HONDA IN LAWTON, OK. TODAY, SEP 1, 2017, MY ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED IN A STATIONARY POSITION ON A CROSS-COUNTRY TRIP. AFTER THE MALFUNCTION, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ORR HONDA OF PARIS TX WHERE I DISCOVERED THE RECALL OF 2016 HONDA CIVICS. ORR HONDA CONDUCTED A VIN INQUIRY THAT SHOWED THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS COMPLETED ON OCT 12, 2016, PRIOR TO MY PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TESTED MY PHYSICAL VEHICLE AND THE REQUIRED UPDATE TO THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS NEVER MADE. IT APPEARS MILO GORDON HONDA UPDATED THE VIN DATABASE WITHOUT EVER REPAIRING THE ACTUAL CAR, THEN PROCEEDED TO SELL IT AS A NEW VEHICLE. AFTER THIS DISCOVERY, ORR HONDA UPGRADED THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RECALL ISSUED IN 2016. (PHOTOS ATTACHED)
I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT MY CAR HAD A RECALL FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT FIXED HOWEVER THE RECALL IS STILL OPEN ON MY VEHICLE.

ADDITIONALLY, THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS BLOWING HOT AIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CARBONE HONDA OF YORKVILLE (5009 COMMERCIAL DR, YORKVILLE, NY 13495, WHERE THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
JUST DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET AT 45 MPH AND HEARD A BIG POP. PULLED OVER TO DISCOVER MY SUNROOF GLASS HAD ACTUALLY EXPLODED OUTWARD. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE FAULTY TEMPERED GLASS AND WANTED TO REPORT THIS ISSUE. THX
THE ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE CONTINUES TO GENERATE ERROR CODES. I'VE HAD IT IN SERVICE AT HONDA DEALERS MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. HONDA EVEN ISSUED A RECALL HOWEVER, I'VE HAD THE SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THIS PROBLEM TWICE AND IS STILL MESSING UP. IT HAS ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE ON ITS OWN.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT BREAK CAR WHEN CAR AHEAD SLOWS. SYSTEM THROWS 'COLLISION BRAKING MITIGATION SYSTEM', 'LANE KEEPING ASSIST', AND 'ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL' WARNINGS. DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR WITHOUT SUCCESS.
STEERING WHEEL STICKS WHEN TRYING TO MAKE SMALL ADJUSTMENTS. MUST APPLY ADDED PRESSURE TO GET PAST THE STICK. HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVEN FOR LONGER TIMES AND WHEN THE WEATHER IS HOT. TAKEN TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT TOLD THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM.
AFTER PARKING AND LOCKING MY VEHICLE, WHEN I LATER RETURNED TO MY CAR ALL FOUR WINDOWS WERE OPEN APPROXIMATELY 3/4 OF THE WAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. IN ONE INSTANCE, THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED PRIOR TO A RAINSTORM AND AFTER THE RAIN HAD ENDED, I WENT OUT TO THE CAR TO GO ON AN ERRAND AND AGAIN ALL FOUR WINDOWS WERE 3/4 OF THE WAY OPEN.
DOOR PROMINENT, DEALERS DO NOT REPAIR, THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT REPAIR
