Car fuel injectors will fail and cause misfiring. Dangerous to drive due to engine running rough. Unusual for fuel injectors to go out so soon especially when driven with care and using correct fuel octane.
My AC system would not blow cold and the blower made a noise. Dealer replaced condenser under extended warranty in May 2023. Same problem is occurring now less than 9 months later. Recently moved to Florida where air conditioning is a must have. Taking car to dealership tomorrow. Bottom line - Honda replaced original faulty condenser under warranty last year but unit has failed again.
There is a short in the BCM (body control module). This causes massive parasitic drain on my battery of over an amp (roughly 1.2 amps typically). I have to pull the fuse for it (fuse 18 in the engine bay fuse box) every time I leave my car off for more than a couple hours. I'm extremely worried this short is going to cause either a fire or one of the important functional systems of my car to stop working while I'm driving. I have read MANY other reports of this happening to other 2017 Honda Civics yet Honda hasn't done anything about it.
I am the original owner of a 2017 Honda civic ex . Recently I have been experiencing a "sticky steering wheel". When driving the car will veer to the left or right. The steering wheel feels stuck and causing over correction and erratic jerky car movements. There is also a clicking sound when moving the steering wheel out of the "stuck" position. I see this has been an ongoing problem with the Honda civics on the 2016 -2023 models with over a half million recalled in 2022 -2023. Honda of America says that there is no recall for my VIN number and until the NHTSA says so that they will not take any action for this ongoing safety problem and I will have to pay for any repairs.
My steering wheel seems to feel like it kind of locks up and is hard to release, causing me to yank slightly. It hasn't caused an incident yet, but I believe it will at some point if not checked. I'm going to get it checked out once I have some available time. I do see where 2022- 2023 have possible recalls for a similar issue that sounds exactly like what is happening on mine. This has been doing it for quite some time and doesnt seem to be improving. I only have 67000 miles on my car. Please be aware, thank you. When driving on the highway the steering wheel sticks and wants to veer to off track. The stickiness is getting worse. I have to pull harder to get past the stuck position.
My steering began sticking in the neutral position while driving. It takes some force to "break it loose" which is a bit scary while traveling down the interstate, as it makes the car drift. I have had the steering components inspected and Honda has determined the Steering Rack needs to be replaced due to sticking. There is a recall on 2017 civics, but somehow my VIN is not included. My car is doing the same thing as the existing recall on same year civics. Honda will not voluntarily fix the problem. Is there anything you can do? I have confirmation from Honda dealer that the problem exists and can provide that documentation to you upon request.
Recently moved in person to an original over 55 community has an after market exhust system that is very load and the person also drives up and down the street like a race driver
2017 Honda Civic paint falling off in large chunks.
Trunk will open seemingly at random. Occurs while driving, parked, turned off, etc. Widespread problem as it has been reported on multiple car forums, all with the same response from dealers; can’t reproduce issue or they don’t know what’s wrong.
I have noticed that the paint on my Honda Civic 2017 is flaking and peeling off. The issue is most apparent on the side of the rear view glass and near the right-side tail light which seems to be worsening over time. It was my sister’s car before she gave it to me. She took care of it before she passed away and now I’ll continue to take good care of her car and have not had any repainting or significant damage in the affected areas that I know of. This seems to be an issue with the paint adhering properly, and I am concerned about further damage, including potential rust which I’m starting to notice. I kindly request that Honda evaluate this as a possible manufacturing defect and let me know if it can be addressed under warranty. Attached are photos of the affected areas for your review. Please let me know the next steps to resolve this issue.
Fuel injectors failed twice and part is on back order
While driving my 2017 Honda Civic, I notice that the steering wheel sticks while trying to keep the car centered. While driving, as the car needs to be slightly adjusted at the end range it sticks and I have to add a little force to get it to recorrect which causes a slight overcorrection. Honda says that it looks like I need a new rack and pinion system on my 2017 Honda with less than 60,000 miles. The sticking can be significant. Honda says while there are Recalls on steering components in the 2017 Honda Civic my vin number is not included. This has been an on-going issue for over six months.
Steering wheel gets sticky with slight turns; car drifts while driving highway speeds and the sticky steering causes over correction which causes vehicle to move all over the road. Research done on this shows that this is a known issue with Honda Civics and the fix is to replace the steering rack. Local dealership confirmed this.
2nd attempt. I went to download pictures and was kicked out of site. 2017 Honda Civic EX Sedan bought used 2021. So far I've needed 2 new batteries in a very short amount of time. Multiple warning lights are appearing when I start car. Charging System Problem, Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, Charging System Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem, Brake Hold System Problem. Yes, charging System Problem was showing twice. Available for inspection. Yes, my safety is at risk, I'm afraid and paranoid on what else could happen while I'm driving. I'm afraid to drive my car for my own safety. You know Honda, my Life matters too! I've went online and read others with similar problems from used to brand new, going into Limp mode not being able to drive over 40 mph and myself being severely inconvenienced with my JOB. Dealership appt this Tuesday. Occurances: Nov 13 12:32 pm 12.19 TWICE 12.21 Once 12.26.23 9:39am AND 11:23am AND 1:10pm 1.2.24 10:21 am 1.4.24 11:42 am AND 12:34 pm 1.5.24 11:13 am 1.6.24 11:37 am brake light came on, binging, then went away. 1.6.24 12:12pm. This is happening almost everyday now. Thank you!!
Keep getting LANE KEEPING and ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL errors randomly as well as BRAKE SYSTEM warning lights. Took to Honda and they said my camera and radar were functioning fine and recalibrated to be sure. I’m still receiving error messages daily.
Keep receiving LKAS, Adaptive Cruise Control and collision mitigation errors on my car. Started once every few months and would reset after the car would be turned off and on. Now, the warning stays on. Both sensor areas are clean and unobstructed.
The paint began flaking off in dime size chunks after a car wash. primarily around the back windshield but also around the gas door cover. I brought it to a body shop to be checked on. They said this was a common thing they see in civics from 2017, and it is a manufacturing defect.
My fuel injectors have failed for the second time today. The first time they failed at 54k miles and the second time they failed at 94k miles. Both times I was on the expressway driving at least 55mph when suddenly the car does not accelerate and I am forced to pull over as my car slows down. This is dangerous when I am on the expressway and suddenly I cannot maintain a safe rate of speed for this kind of road. Honda refused to replace the injectors the first time because I was past my general 36k mile warranty although I was still within my 60k powertrain warranty. Although the manufacturer of the injectors Keihin considers the injectors a powertrain component, Honda does not by definition in their warranty. I am now left with a repair bill of over $500 for the second time for fuel injectors and a fuel rail. Honda needs to be held responsible and ordered to issue a recall for this widespread issue.
Steering of car becomes stuck intermittently causing difficulty with adjusting of steering and over corrections when I have to force the steering wheel past the stuck area. Honda tech told me it is an issue with the electronic power steering unit of the vehicle
After the car has been drive for 20 minutes on the highway, I have a problem with my steering when keeping the car on center, the steering gets sticky and a jerking feeling when adjusting the steering that causes me to overreact in the opposite direction, this occurs with the slightest adjustment of the steering wheel, obvious only when driving on the highway.
I started to wash my car and the paint on the roof between the windshield and sunroof started peel quite significantly. I showed my local Honda dealership and they told me to call American Honda Motor and they told me there is nothing they can do. I went to 5 different body shops in my area and they all have said that Honda should be covering the repair due to it being a manufacturing issue.
While driving the car the steering wheel sticks and you have to use more force to turn the wheel which causes you to overcorrect and it does not feel safe. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer simply because I have read online articles seeing many other people have this problem. There were no warning lamps ever activated and the problem first occurred around 50,000 miles and has continued or even gotten worse since then.
Unsure of when happened but cvt filler cap keeps blowing out for no reason causing transmission fluid to leak every where.
Our car is a 2017 Honda Civic. We bought it new in November 2016. While driving, it came to our attention there was something wrong with the steering of the car. Steering feels too loose and at times it locks up. We took it in to be assessed and were told the steering gearbox needed to be replaced. The car went in for repair of the steering gearbox. Encountering costly power steering rack repairs should not be expected in a car with low mileage and age.
The passenger side CVC axle is too short and everything that it calls for is 36 in and 1/8 the original is 38 and 5/16 it don't make no sense I've been talking to everyone
At speeds above 40 mph, the steering feels sticky to the point of using extra effort to make steering adjustments to the point of oversteering and having to make more corrections in path. At highway speeds it becomes worse to the point its hard to drive a straight line and looks like I'm driving impaired.
BCM Failed causing an electrical start problem and the car will not completely turn off. With BCM failed doors will not unlock with the remote and the car fails to start or starts and fails to turn off. This is a known problem with these cars that honda will not address and a safety concern for my family as the car has turned itself off while in motion.
Driver side AC is not working
Suddenly loss of acceleration. Transmission failure. The vehicle is at Stonecrest Honda. If not for my quick action and low traffic this could have caused a serious accident had I been at highway speed in heavy traffic. Stone rest Honda has confirmed transmission failure. Only warning lamps were unrelated. Intermittent lamps for the brake system and O2 sensor. Both rarely come on. Have had codes ran multiple times no one is ever able to fix the O2 code even the Honda dealership the vehicle was purchased from. Break system lights have been addressed and updates have been done previously and had only re-appeared just before the incident. I have had no issues with my transmission or I would have had the vehicle serviced. No slipping no strange sounds. This came out of nowhere leaving a parking lot from work not even 20 mph. I buy Hondas for the reliability and to have my transmission go at not even 100k miles is almost unheard of. My last Honda was 250K+ and still ran great when I traded it in for this one. This CVT is a problem.
I am adding to the long list of duplicate AC complaints. I had cold air on the passenger side and hot air on the driver side. I brought in my vehicle to the dealership in response to two AC component recalls. I was informed the compressor, evaporator and condenser ALL had gone bad and needed to be replaced. They would ONLY cover the condenser and quoted $4,400 for additional repairs.
My apologies, I just filled out a form (Your Complaint Number: 11563943) and forgot to add problems with AC with my 2017 Honda Civic EX Sedan. My AC went out, went to local dealership, they recharged this around August 2023 I believe. Good now, but my point is I'd ask how long this will last. They said they don't know. I'm like a day, week, month(s)? Again they couldn't say. I live in a very warm area during the Summer, need AC and I need a cool AC environment when driving. I think I deserve to be comfortable. At the dealership, I had mentioned about a Honda recall letter I received about AC. It was either the Compressor or Condenser that is recalled, I forget. Well, they stated after looking at my car, that it was the item that isn't covered. Bill would be close to $1,000.00, I believe. Come on. I find this shady, confusing and concerning with Honda. Thank you again for your help!!! Yes my Life is at risk with this as well. Again, my Life matters also! This is my 4th Honda and I never had so many things go sideways with the last three Hondas as I'm experiencing now with this 2017 Civic EX. This is just ridiculous. Just about fed up with Honda.
A/C was not working as a result of condenser (covered by warranty) and evaporator (not covered by warranty.). Considered a safety hazard due to unusually hot summer where heat related dangers could be caused without A/C. I found myself driving in 110 degree weather in a 45 minute commute where I felt nauseous after. The a/c is a common problem for many 2016 and later Hondas. My vehicle was inspected by dealer and an independent mechanic (separate incident). No warning of this happening other than a hissing noise coming from A/c and then hot air blowing.
I recently began feeling stickiness in the steering when driving freeway speeds. When trying to make minor lane adjustments, there is resistance in the steering wheel rather than smooth motion. Extra pressure against the stickiness overcomes the issue causing a small unintended over correction. Driving then becomes a constant battle against the stickiness and correcting the over corrections. No Honda Sensing on this vehicle. Occurred while driving over 60 mph in Texas summer heat. Not sure if the issue will get worse but if it does, hard overcorrections at freeway speed can be very dangerous. The same complaint has been made many times on 10th gen civic forums with a dealership doing a complete power steering rack replacement at the customer’s expense Scheduled to take it to Honda tomorrow for replication. There are no warning lights, the vehicle has 85k miles and has only been in one minor crash affecting the left rear quarter panel only.
Steering feels like it is sticking. It is hard to maintain a straight line at speeds over 45 mph. It almost feels like I am trying to separate two magnets and I have to use more than normal effort to bring the car back to a straight line
Steering wheel is sticking or failing at highway speeds making steering corrections difficult. Seems more problematic on hotter days also noticed sticking when making turns at speeds greater than 35 mph can be hard to replicate but when it occurs oversteering easily occurs mechanic has no options other than replacing entire power steering system. Is dangerous especially when I over corrected for the sticking causing a sudden lane change
Car was draining battery because it would turn on randomly. They replaced the ignition switch, which didn’t work, then the alarm would go off constantly so I took it back to dealership. They said the part is backordered and they have NO idea how long it will be. It has been nearly 2 months, and I NEED my car for work and my 3 kids. I understand this is a well known issue, and the 2018-2019 models were recalled. Dealer says the have several similar issues with the 2017 models. I got a Honda for reliability, but instead I have had the worst car issues of any I have driven.
Steering wheel “sticking” no matter the speed.
The steering wheel sticks just enough, when turning it, to cause an overcorrection. This is most noticeable at highway speeds. As one does when driving in a straight line you slowly make left and right corrections, this is when the sticking occurs. This is potentially extremely dangerous and should be recalled.
My Honda civic sedan 2017 does not turn on all the lights on the dash turn on and I can not push my breaks to turn the vehicle on

My 2017 Honda Civic 4 Door EXT has been having problems with power steering. The steering is "sticky" and tends to point the car to either left or right. There is slight resistance to returning to central driving and then jerks back towards the middle, causing the car to jerk. This often happens on the highway, after the car has been in motion, at at relatively high speed. This problem does cause some erratic driving and could put others at risk. It is a problem that has been fairly common in 2016-2022 Civic cars, and frequently discussed on websites where other drivers have reported the problem. The problem often occurs when the car has been driven over 40K miles. There are no warning lamps, messages but the car's steering does begin to get difficult. To my knowledge the problem is a slipped sensor in the power steering that has been warned out, as diagnosed by a local dealer. Honda will replace the part as an act of "good will" at a discounted price of 75% in some cases.
AC component: Condenser and Evaporator (issue is systematic as it's creating issues to Freon) Current RECALL is only for Condenser but it's systematic to Evaporator (faulty part that has failed); I believe Honda is circumventing the cost to repair and is revealing only condenser part failure vs taking ownership on full AC component (if one fail the other will too). Reading blog, reddit, and many other complaints, outside repair shop says finding will still cost consumers $2,000 to fix evaporator caused by part failure. Issues still exist in honda model 2016-2019 and alarming rate of consumers venting the poor quality of the AC component. Honda quality control has not rendored and technician is having consumer fix parts that is near the area (systemic) to known faulty part. I am having a problem with my 2017 Honda civic SI, it has been to a Honda service center twice now and continues to have the same problem after having the transmission speed sensor replaced twice now, there was a recall that did not affect my specific VIN but I am having the same problems listed in the recall, the service bulletin number is 18-102, I also have videos showing how the EPS (Electronic Power Steering) light appears on the cluster along with the speed displaying as 0 even though the vehicle is in motion. When the problem occurs initially the steering goes “limp” and is extremely easy to turn as if the steering assist is working too hard then after a few seconds the vehicle proceeds to jerk extremely hard to the left followed up by the speedometer displaying 0 mph, this is extremely frustrating as the car only has around 84k miles and I have only been in ownership of the vehicle for 3-4 weeks as of now (almost 3,000 miles have been put on the car.
Steering wheel sticks when driving, especially when turning left. This issue has been ongoing for years. I've brought it to the dealer but we couldn't replicate the issue at the dealership. It doesn't feel safe when driving and seems to happen when the outside temperature is high. I believe it's either the anti lock system or the steering rack needs to be replaced. No warning lights come on. The dealer said there is a pending review for recall for this issue.
In 2017 a Honda civic was brought, 2 weeks later AC problems started. Vehicle was returned for repairs requested by a senior dealership personnel. Problems continued with same issue and not fixed. Recent recalls of the AC Compressor and other AC defects of this vehicle has been denied several times (up till now). Honda has repeatedly denied claim to resolve this issue when it has been acknowledged that the original AC systems in most of these vehicles are defective. Vehicle is very hot especially in these very high and hot temperature conditions.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda Civic. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The vehicle stability assist (VSA), the electric power steering (EPS), the TPMS and the brake warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that he turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as needed. The warning lights were no longer illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 50-65 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact was able to continue driving by using physical force to steer the vehicle. The contact stated that he arrived at the residence, parked, and turned off the vehicle; however, upon restarting the vehicle approximately 6 hours later, the failure persisted. The vehicle stability assist (VSA), the electric power steering (EPS), and the TPMS warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
At high speeds (over 55mph) the steering feels notchy and sticky. While making a long highway turn my steering wheel will stick turning in that direction until I correct. I do not have lane assist tech on board but this needs to solved. It’s inconsistent which could potentially proved to be dangerous or fatal. I just noticed this at 117k miles but have seen reports of some lower mileage. I’m scared to drive my vehicle.
The AC condenser, compressor, blower, & evapoartor core all broke down. After repair, I’m still receiving a “fog horn noise” audiable sound. This is dangerous as I have no A/C in the hot summer. The dealer inspected the vehicle and confirmed the issue. They will only fix the first two (condensor & compressor) under warranty, which I’m not under warranty. They say Honda won't fix the evaporator core even though this one breaking is almost certainly a result of the condesor & compressor breaking. We believe this should also be covered under warranty. There was no warning of the issue. The evaporator core costs $2k to repair and Honda refuses to help, even though the dealer let us know that this part breaking was almost certainly caused by the parts under warranty breaking down. We asked for second oppinions with other mechanics who told us the same thing. Ended up repairing at a 3rd party shop after spending 45 days within 2 years in the shop for this issue, and paying over $5k in diagnostic and recharged coolant. The lemon law statutes are on the horizon, and the prima facie negligence to avoid repair is on the face of this ongoing issue.
I have a 2017 Honda Civic 90594 miles and within the last month; I have noticed when I reach highway speeds my steering sticks as I change lanes. This is a danger to anyone who drives on highways and Interstates.
