AT APPROX 147,000 MILES, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ONE. AFTER DETERMINING IT WAS NOT DUE TO LEAKING GAS CAP, RAN A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT. IT PRODUCED ERROR CODES OF P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304 AND P1399 (ALL MISFIRE CODES). TOOK IT TO A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED MECHANIC WHERE THEY ALSO RAN THEIR OWN DIAGNOSTIC WITH SAME ERROR CODES. THE CHECKED THE VALVES RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE (DEFECT) WITH THE FIRST GEN CRV HEAD. HONDA HAS ADMITTED THE PROBLEM AND RE-DESIGNED THE HEAD FOR MY YEAR MODEL TO ELIMINATE THE VALUE PROBLEM. MY HEADS HAD ALREADY BEEN ADJUSTED AT 95K (AS RECOMMENDED BY THE HONDA DEALER SERVICE DEPT) ALTHOUGH THE RECOMMENDED ADJUSTMENT IS AT 105K MILES. WITH MINE REQUIRING ADJUSTMENT 10K MILES SOONER, THIS SHOULD BE A RED FLAG OF A PROBLEM WITH MY ENGINE. BUT NOW THERE IS NO ROOM FOR FURTHER ADJUSTMENT; ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE HEAD WITH THE RE-DESIGNED HEAD. IN EARLIER YEARS (2006) HONDA WAS REPLACING AT NO COST THROUGH THEIR GOODWILL PROGRAM. THEY WON'T ASSIST ME IN ANY WAY - IN FACT, AMERICAN HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS A HONDA GOODWILL PROGRAM. I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE PROGRAM BECAUSE MY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME ABOUT IT AND THAT AMERICAN HONDA AND DENIED MY REQUEST! I HAD EVERY SINGLE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE SERVICE PERFORMED AT OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP; ON TIME OR EARLY AS RECOMMENDED. THE ONLY TIME IT WAS EVER TAKEN SOMEWHERE ELSE WAS FOR A FEW OIL CHANGES AND THAT WAS ONLY BECAUSE HONDA COULDN'T WORK ME IN ACCORDING TO MY WORK SCHEDULE. THE REASON I PURCHASED A HONDA IN FIRST PLACE WAS BECAUSE WE WERE TOLD THAT ANY HONDA THAT WAS MAINTAINED PER THE RECOMMENDED SERVICE MANUAL SHOULD LAST 300-400K MILES. I DIDN'T EVEN GET HALF OF THAT! NEVER AGAIN - NO MORE HONDA'S FOR ME. *TR
I HAVE A RUMBLING, GRINDING NOISE THAT IS DUE TO EXCESSIVE AND PREMATURE WEAR ON THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL OF MY 2000 HONDA CRV AWD. I HAVE CHANGED THE FLUID, BUT IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING IN SO MANY OWNERS. *TR
WE FOUND WHAT WE THOUGHT WOULD BE THE PERFECT VEHICLE FOR HER A 2000 HONDA CRV WITH ONLY 37,500 MILES ON IT. AFTER LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE WE DECIDED TO PURCHASE IT DUE TO ITS GREAT CONDITION AND LACK OF USE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON WHEN WE LOOKED AT IT. BUT THE PEOPLE WE DEALT WITH LOCALLY STATED IT WAS PROBABLY DUE TO LACK OF DRIVING AND WOULD NEED ONLY A TUNE UP. WE PICKED THE VEHICLE UP ON FRIDAY 8-20. I TUNED UP THE CRV WITH NEW PLATINUM PLUGS, NEW ROTOR, DISTRIBUTOR CAP, AND PLUG WIRES. THE TRUCK RAN A LITTLE BETTER BUT STILL HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I DECIDED TO BRING IT TO A HONDA DEALER AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT FIRST THING MONDAY 8-23. THEY STATED IT MAY BE A VALVE ADJUSTMENT. THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED ME AND STATED THAT THE PROBLEMS WERE MUCH LARGER. A ROCKER ARM HAD BROKEN OFF AND WAS FLOATING IN THE ENGINE AND HAD DONE DAMAGE TO VALVES ETC. THE CRV WOULD NEED A TOP END REBUILD WITH HEAD ETC AT A COST OF $4400. WE PAID ONLY $4500 FOR THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA CR-V EQUIPPED WITH B.F. GOODRICH TOURING T/A TIRES. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE AND A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND UPON EXAMINATION SHE NOTICED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS BLOWN OUT AND THERE WAS MINOR BODY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. A SPARE TIRE WAS INSTALLED AS REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE. UPDATED 11/05/10. *LJ
2000 HONDA CRV, FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN SPONTANEOUSLY, BLOWS OUT VARIOUS CIRCUITS FROM EXCESS VOLTAGE. *TR
THE TAILGATE LATCH AND HANDLE IS RUSTED AND THE LATCH AND HANDLE ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ON MY 2000 HONDA CR-V. AT THE SAME TIME THE HINGES ON THE DRIVER'S AND FRONT PASSENGER'S DOORS WERE SQUEALING. I USED A LITTLE BIT OF WD-40 AND IT STOPPED THE HINGE SQUEALING AFTER A COUPLE OF SPRAYS. I HAVE KEPT ALL OF THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES TO-DATE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH OR IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR, THE VEHICLE HESITATES TO GAIN SPEED. IT SEEMS TO NOT WANT TO SHIFT INTO THE UPPER GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ERROR MESSAGE ON THE GEAR DIFFERENTIAL ON THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. THROUGH RESEARCH, SHE FOUND COMPLAINTS FOR THIS FAILURE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THIS SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING ON HER VEHICLE DUE TO THE MILEAGE, AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL. DRIVING THE CAR BECAME UNMANAGEABLE--SHIMMY, SHUDDER, STEER PULLING. I DETERMINED AT LEAST TWO OF THE TIRES HAD "WARPED" WHEN LOOKING AT THE FACE OF THE TIRE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA CR-V. THE VEHICLE HAS BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/T 684 II TIRES, SIZE P245/70R16. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. HE PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DISCOVERED THAT THE TOP LAYER OF THE TIRE WAS SPLIT AROUND THE ENTIRE TIRE. THE VIN AND DOT NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 45,000.
MY HONDA VEHICLE, 2000 CRV, IS ONE OF MANY HONDAS THAT HAS A DEFECTIVE CYLINDER HEAD WITHIN THE ENGINE. THIS CAUSED MULTIPLE BREAKDOWNS IN MY CAR OF WHICH MANY OCCURRED AT AN INTERSECTION AND BECAME VERY DANGEROUS TO MY SAFETY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. HONDA POSTED A TECHNICAL BULLETIN, 03-038 THAT THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE CYLINDER HEAD BUT MOST HONDA OWNERS ARE UNAWARE OF IT. I DIDN'T RECEIVE FULL CONSIDERATION FOR THIS PART TO BE REPLACED AND REQUESTED IT DESPITE MY WARRANTY BEING UP. I FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT HONDA IS NOT TAKING THIS DEFECT SERIOUSLY ENOUGH AND HAVE FOUND MANY HONDA OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND ADDRESSED BECAUSE HONDA HAS FAILED TO TAKE THIS BULLETIN MORE SERIOUSLY GIVEN THE FACT THAT IT PUT MY SAFETY IN DANGER AND OTHERS AS WELL. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW MAKES A TERRIBLE CRUNCHING NOISE WHEN IN USE, CAUSING A HUGE DEEP SCRATCH ON THE WINDOW. DIX HONDA SERVICE DEPT. HAS CHECKED IT 3X AND "CANNOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM". HOWEVER, THEY DO ACKNOWLEDGE THE HUGE SCRATCH!? *TR
HONDA 2000 CRV CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. CAR WAS RUNNING AND IDLING ROUGH. I FOUND OUT THAT TSB 03-038 (TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN) HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR ALL HONDA CRV'S FROM 1999-2001. THIS DEFECT CONCERNS A DEFECTIVE CYLINDER HEAD THAT CAUSES THE VALVES TO RECEDE INTO THE HEAD. WHEN I CONTACTED HONDA NORTH AMERICA REGARDING MY 2000 HONDA CRV THEY DENIED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
AFTER WHAT SOUNDED LIKE THE BACK END OF MY CAR DROPPING OUT, I BEGAN TO PULL OFF THE I-5 FREEWAY (IN CENTRAL CA). WHEN I WAS PARTLY ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER I LOST CONTROL AND SPUN ACROSS BOTH SOUTH BOUND LANES, STOPPING IN THE MEDIAN. IT WAS TRULY A MIRACLE THAT I DIDN'T HIT ANOTHER CAR AND THAT NO CARS HIT ME. I DOUBT I WOULD HAVE SRUVIVED SUCH AN ACCIDENT. *JB
TWO OF THE TIRES HAVE BLOWN OUT WITHIN TWO MONTHS. STILL PLENTY OF TREAD ON THE TIRE WHEN BOTH HAPPENED. SECOND TIME IT BROKE THE BUMPER AND CRACKED THE FRAME. THESE TIRES SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE MARKET. *AK
2000 HONDA CRV - VALVE SEAT PROBLEM INVOLVING NECESSARY HEAD REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT AFFECTING A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF MODELS PRODUCED. THE METAL USED TO MANUFACTURE THE HEAD IS APPARENTLY TOO SOFT OF A COMPOUND TO WITHSTAND THE ENGINE TEMPERATURES. I CAN NOT FIND A RECALL AND HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED BY HONDA OR ADVISED OF SUCH BY THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOUR MONTHS AGO AND I WAS NOT INFORMED OF ANY POTENTIAL PROBLEM NOR WERE ANY CORRECTIVE MEASURES IMPLEMENTED. *NM
WHEN PURCHASED NEW IN 2000 THE RIDE WAS LOOSE AND JITTERY AND THE CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN SAFELY OVER 60 MPH. BETWEEN 40 AND 45 THE FRONT END BOUNCED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE DEALER DROVE THE CAR (WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO ACCOMPANY) AND DECLARED "THAT'S NORMAL FOR THIS MODEL...THAT'S JUST THE WAY SUV'S RIDE." AFTER 80,000 MILES AT SPEEDS BELOW 60 THE TRANSMISSION SELF-DESTRUCTED. AFTER REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION THE RIDE IS EXCELLENT. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED, THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE IGNITION LOCKED, PREVENTING THE KEY AND THE STEERING WHEEL FROM BEING TURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE SITUATION WAS NORMAL AND THE PROBLEM HAPPENS TO ALL VEHICLES.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY, THE REAR HATCH DOOR OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE REAR HATCH DOOR LATCH WAS INOPERATIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED.*AKI
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED ONE OF THE VALVES IN THE ENGINE WOULD NEED REPLACED. THE VALVE WAS REPLACED DUE TO LOSS OF COMPRESSION.
OCTOBER 2005 - LOW COMPRESSION, BURNED VALVES. HEAD MACHINED, VALVES REPLACED. ONLY 82,000 MILES. COMPLAINED TO HONDA AND THEY REIMBURSED ME FOR THE PARTS & LABOR, ALMOST $1,500. FAST FORWARD TO FEBRUARY 2008. SAME FAILURE, SAME VALVES, 162,000 MILES. COST NOW IS $4,000 BECAUSE THE HEAD CAN'T BE MACHINED A SECOND TIME. DEALER STATED HONDA RECOMMENDS VALVES BE ADJUSTED EVERY 30,000 MILES. OWNER'S MANUAL CONTRADICTS THAT - INSPECT/ADJUST VALVES ONLY IF NOISY AND AT 105,000 MILES. BECAUSE THE VALVES GET TIGHT, THEY DON'T GET NOISY. HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE HEAD ASSEMBLY. *TR
I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH SOUTHERN MOTORS A HONDA DEALER IN SAVANNAH, GA AND THEY HAVE NOT ORDERED PARTS FOR MY 2000 HONDA CRV THAT HAS A RECALL GOING BACK A FEW YEARS AND THEY HAVEN'T CORRECTED.THE AIRBAG PROBLEM.
WATER LEAKING FROM SOMEWHERE UNDER THE DASHBOARD/GLOVE COMPARTMENT DURING RAIN OR CAR WASH. *JB
DURING A 45 MPH FRONTAL VEHICLE COLLISION REAR CAPTAINS SEAT RECLINED BACK AND THE OTHER FORWARD. A CHILD WAS IN THE SEATS, AND CHILD SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES. *AK THE REAR SEATS IN THE BACK FOLDED DOWN TO ENLARGE THE TRUNK AREA (60/40 SPLIT). DURING THE ACCIDENT, THE SEATS BOTH DISENGAGED FROM THEIR LOCK UPRIGHT POSITIONS BECAUSE OF THE POSITIONING OF THE CAR SEATS (ONE FORWARD AND ONE BACKWARD), THE SEATS ENDED UP IN DIFFERENT POSITIONS. THE CAR WAS TOTALED AND TOWED AWAY. NO ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR IT WERE MADE.*SB *NM
EXHAUST VALVES ON MY 2000 HONDA CRV CHARRED AND EXHAUST VALVE IN CYLINDER #1 CHIPPED AND CHARRED. ALL VALVES AND #1 SEATS HAD TO BE REPLACED. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON DESIGN PROBLEM TO 2000 CRV'S AND CIVICS.
WHILE DRIVING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION LOWER GEAR DOESN'T SHIFT PROPERLY FROM THE FIRST TO THE SECOND GEAR. THEN, WON?T SHIFT AT ALL. *AK THE SHIFT LEVER WOULD NOT DOWN SHIFT INTO LOW SPEEDS WHILE DRIVING DOWN STEEP HILLS. THE DEALER WORKED ON THE STEERING COLUMN AND NOW THE LEVER WORKS BETTER BUT IT'S NOT AS SMOOTH AS THE CONSUMER'S 2004 HONDA ACCORD. *NM
I HAVE MY GRANDCHILDREN IN CAR SAFTEY SEATS IN THE BACK. THEY ARE SECURED BY OVER THE CHEST SEATBELTS. WHEN STOPPING SHORT, ONE OF THE SEATBELTS DISCONNECTED DIRECTLY FROM THE ROOF OF THE CAR. THE MATERIAL ON THE BELT ITSELF DID NOT BREAK, JUST THE CONNECTION TO THE ROOF. THE SAFETY SEAT JUMPED FORWARD AND HIT THE BACK OF THE PASSENGER SEAT. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE OTHER SEAT BELT ALSO WAS LOOSENED. UPON TAKING MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY REATTACHED THE BELTS TO THE CAR ROOF. I WONDER IF THIS HAS HAPPENED OFTEN, THEREFORE I WANT IT REPORTED SO THAT IN THE EVENT THERE IS A DEFECT IN ALL THE CARS, HONDA WILL REPAIR IT BEFORE ANYONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED.*AK
AT 85,000 MILES, EXHAUST VALVES HAD TO BE REPLACED. SEVEN WERE WORN BY HEAT. ONE WAS CRACKED. INQUIRY WITH DEALERS AND FIRM WHICH ACTUALLY REPAIRS ENGINE VALVES SAID THEY HAVE BEEN SEEING A NUMBER OF CRV'S-WHICH HAVE RECESSED VALVES-WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AS MINE.*AK
GENERALLY, I HAVE BEEN SATISFIED WITH MY 2000 HONDA CRV BUT, AS OF LATE, HAVE ENCOUNTERED SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS. TO THE POINT, THE DOORS DO NOT OPEN, FAIL TO LATCH OR BOTH. IN FEBRUARY, I COULD NOT GET THE HATCH DOOR TO OPEN. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DEALER (SUNNYSIDE HONDA) AND THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM AND CHARGED ME $125. I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER-SIDE FRONT DOOR (IT WOULD NOT OPEN) AND THE DEALER ORDERED PARTS WHICH WERE INSTALLED A FEW WEEKS LATER. THE CHARGE WAS $390.90. NOW THE DRIVER-SIDE FRONT DOOR IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE LATCH. I CANT GET THE CAR TO LOCK AND OPENING IT IS ALSO PROBLEMATIC UNLESS I PULL VERY HARD ON THE HANDLE. THE EVIDENCE POINTS TO THE OBVIOUS CONCLUSION THAT THIS IS NOT A MATTER OF ROUTINE MAINTENANCE FOR THIS VEHICLE. THERE IS SOMETHING DEFECTIVE IN THE DOOR LATCHES AND LOCKING SYSTEMS OF THIS CRV. HOW MUCH MORE MUST I PAY TO SIMPLY OPEN AND SHUT THE DOORS ON MY CAR? I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO PAY $515.90 FOR THE REPAIR OF 2 DOOR HANDLES/LATCHES/LOCKS. I CAN SEE ANOTHER REPAIR BILL IN MY FUTURE AS THE FRONT DRIVERS DOOR IS ALMOST INOPERABLE. THIS PRESENTS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM IN THAT GETTING OUT OF THE CAR DURING AN EMERGENCY IS VERY DIFFICULT. IS THERE SOME RECALL THAT I MISSED THAT ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM? I HOPE YOU WILL AGREE THAT IT IS UNREASONABLE TO HAVE 3 DOORS ON THE SAME 2000 CAR WITH THE SAME MECHANICAL PROBLEM. THE TRANSMISSION, SPECIFICALLY, THE TRANSFER CASE WENT OUT ON MY 2000 HONDA CRV AFTER ONLY 60,000 MILES ON IT. THE COST THE DEALER WANTED TO REPAIR IT WAS BEYOND MY MEANS AT $5,000.*AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 70 MPH ON THE FREEWAY HEARD A LOUD NOISE. CONSUMER THOUGHT SHE RAN OVER PIECES OF TIRE ON THE FREEWAY, BUT LATER LEARNED THAT ONE OF HER VEHICLE'S TIRES EXPLODED, AND THE TREAD WAS FROM THAT TIRE. CONSUMER STATED THAT VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO HANDLE. BUT SHE WAS LUCKY BECAUSE IT HAPPENED AT A REST AREA, WHICH ALLOWED HER TO PULL OVER. ALSO, A PASSING MOTORIST PULLED OVER TO HELP HER, AND CALLED FOR THE STATE HIGHWAY PATROL. THEY CHANGED THE TIRE, AND CONSUMER WAS ON HER WAY. *AK
CYLINDER HEAD FAILED, RESULTING IN IMPROPER VENTING OF EXHAUST AND PROBLEMS WITH FUEL BURN. THIS COULD LEAD TO FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE AND DANGEROUS BUILDUP OF NOXIOUS FUMES.
THE CRV WILL HAVE THE MOTOR JUST STALL - EVEN WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. SOMETIMES IT WILL ALSO STALL WHILE IDELING. SOMETIMES IT IS HARD TO START, REQUIRES A JUMP. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A MONTH. DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIX.*AK

I HAVE MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH VEHICLE: 1) ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING, WHICH INTERRUPTS POWER STEERING. THIS OCCURS GENERALLY WITHIN THE FIRST MILE OF DRIVING, NOW DAILY. INITIALLY, PROBLEM OCCURRED AT RANDOM, ONCE OR TWICE PER MONTH. REGULAR SERVICE CHECKS REVEALED NO PROBLEM. THE CAR RUNS WITHOUT PROBLEMS ALL DAY ONCE THE INITIAL STALLING OF THE ENGINE HAS OCCURRED. CONSUMER INFORMATION HAS FOUND THIS TO BE AN IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM, BUT HONDA-AUTHORIZED SERVICE DEALER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY RECALL OR PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL ON 1/17/2004. INSTEAD, HONDA CLAIMS THAT A SCHEDULED "VALVE ADJUSTMENT" WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. ENGINE STALLING AND INTERRUPTION OF POWER STEERING IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING, AND THE OCCURRENCE IS NOT PREDICTABLE - HOW CAN I BE SATISFIED WITH A "VALVE ADJUSTMENT" AND TAKE THE CAR BACK ON THE ROAD? 2) ADVANCED TIRE WEAR. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 33,000 AND I HAD TO REPLACE TIRES. FIRESTONE / BRIDGESTONE DEALER MENTIONED THAT THE WEAR IS PREMATURE AND SOLD ME A NEW SET OF TIRES FOR A FAIR PRICE. HONDA AUTHORIZED DEALER MENTIONED THAT IT IS DRIVER/OWNER RESPONSIBILITY TO MAINTAIN VEHICLE TIRE PRESSURE AND ROTATE TIRES ACCORDING TO SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. I HAVE ROTATED AND KEEP CORRECT PRESSURE IN TIRES AT ALL TIMES. 3) WHILE MAKING A SHARP TURN (MORE NOTICEABLE WHILE MAKING A U-TURN) PRIMARILY FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, A LOUD HOWLING NOISE CAN BE HEARD. THE SAME FIRESTONE / BRIDGESTONE DEALER NOTICED THE SAME SOUNDS AND REFERRED ME TO THE HONDA DEALER. HONDA AUTHORIZED DEALER MENTIONED THAT A LUBE SERVICE IS NECESSARY TO TAKE THAT HOWLING NOISE AWAY FROM MY VEHICLE. FIRESTONE / BRIDGESTONE BELIEVE MORE THAN A LUBE JOB IS NEEDED. 4) REAR GLASS TRUNK LID LEAKS DURING CAR WASHES AND STRONG WINDY RAIN. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 45MPH SUDDENLY FIRE BROKE OUT IN THE REAR OVER HEAD PASSENGER SEAT. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE, AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER STATED THE LEFT FRONT HEADLIGHT SHORT CIRCUITED AND CAUGHT FIRE WHILE DRIVING. *PH
THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHICH STATED THE OIL SMELLED BURNT. PLEASE PROVIDE DETAILS.
VEHICLE WAS BEGINNING TO OVERHEAT, AND CONSUMER DECIDED TO INSPECT THE RADIATOR TO FIND NUMEROUS PIN HOLES. THE PIN HOLES WERE CAUSING VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT ON A REGULAR BASIS.*AK
AIR CONDITIONER FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN A YEAR. THE DEALER TRIED TWICE TO FIX IT, BUT FAILED. IT IS NOW GETTING A NEW EVAPORATOR, AMONG OTHER PARTS. AT FIRST, THE DEALER WANTED ME TO PAY OVER $700 TO REPLACE PARTS. AFTER SOME COMPLAINING, THEY AGREED TO ONLY CHARGE $270. THIS IS ONE OF MANY PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE'S HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY DEBRIS HIT THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE OBJECT PUT A HOLE IN THE WINDSHIELD, AND IT SHATTERED. *AK (SHATTERED INTO MANY SMALL SHARP PIECES) *SCC *JB
EXHAUST VALVES ON MY 2000 HONDA CRV CHARRED AND EXHAUST VALVE IN CYLINDER #4 CHIPPED AND CHARRED. ALL VALVES HAD TO BE REPLACED. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON DESIGN PROBLEM TO 2000 CRV'S AND CIVICS. *NLM

LEFT-REAR SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY "LOCKS UP." ONCE LATCHED IN PLACE OVER A PASSENGER, THE BELT "LOCKS" SECURELY IN PLACE, FORCING THE PASSENGER TO UNFASTEN THE BELT IN ORDER TO LEAN FORWARD ANY DEGREE. PERHAPS A FAULTY PRE-TENSIONER? TWICE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SELLING DEALERSHIP, TWICE NOTHING DONE -- "THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS." MOST RECENTLY CONTACTED DEALER ON AUGUST 8, 2002, ONLY TO LEARN THAT "THE BELT DOES THE SAME THING ON THE 2002 CR-V'S, SO YOURS COULD NOT BE FAULTY." IF MY LR SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY IS NOT FAULTY, THEN WHY DOES MY RR SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. HELP!!*AK
