TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V395000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 198,131.
MY CR-V EX WAS SERVICED BY THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM. THE ENGINE, CAT CONVERTER, AND CV-BOOT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BECAUSE THE ENGINE HAS A SERVER OIL LEAK INTERNALLY. THIS OIL LEAK MY ALSO COST ME A TRANSMISSION. THESE ISSUES COST OVER $8,400.00 AND COUNTING. I ONLY OWNED THE CAR 66 DAYS BEFORE I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE IS JUNK. A FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THE DEALERSHIP OWES ME MY MONEY ON THIS ISSUE, BECAUSE IT WAS BROUGHT TO THERE ATTENTION LESS THEN A WEEK AFTER I PURCHASED THIS CAR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH MY AREA AT OR NEAR 15 MPH. WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN TO A SPEED OF 30-35 MPH. THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT VERY STIFF AND WAS DIFFICULT TO HOLD THE CAR AT 30 MPH WITH CONSTANT BRAKING. THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC AND THE INCIDENT OCCURRED NOT FAR FROM MY HOME, SO I PROCEEDED BACK HOME. THE CAR WOULD NOT DECELERATE. I HAVE A VERY LONG DRIVEWAY THAT I PULLED INTO, PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, TURNED OFF THE KEY AND PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AS THE ENGINE WOUND DOWN. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED. THEY SENT A TOW VEHICLE TO PICK UP THE CAR SINCE IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE IT TO THEM. THEY SAID THEY DROVE THE CAR MULTIPLE TIMES AND PERFORMED DIAGNOSTIC TESTS ON THE VEHICLE FINDING NO PROBLEMS AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR THREE DAYS. THE INVOICE HOWEVER SHOWED IDENTICAL MILEAGE IN AND OUT OF THEIR FACILITY WHEN IT WAS PICKED UP JAN. 2, 2014. ON FEB. 11, 2014, I WAS IN TRAFFIC STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, MY RIGHT FOOT PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. WITHOUT WARNING THE ENGINE REVVED, THE BRAKE PEDAL STIFFENED AND THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD HITTING THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, DOING DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES. BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND HONDA OF AMERICA HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AND A CLAIM HAS BEEN FILED. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNHEARD OF COMPLAINT OR OCCURRENCE FOR THIS MAKE, MODEL, YEAR VEHICLE AS EVIDENCE BUY COMPLAINTS TO YOU. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND ONLY DRIVER. THIS IS MY FIRST ACCIDENT IN OVER 50 YRS OF BEING A LICENSED DRIVER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE AND REFERRED HIM TO THE NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

GOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE CODE WAS P2646. REPLACED THE VTEC-OIL PRESSURE SWITCH WITH A NEW ONE AT A COST OF $55. CHANGED OIL AND FILTER. RESET THE CODE. BUT THE CODE STILL KEEPS ON COMING AND IT DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE BEYOND 3500 RPM. *TR
MY CAR HAD BEEN PARKED FOR SEVERAL HOURS AT A RELATIVELY FLAT AREA AT THE TOP OF A HILL. WHEN I GOT IN TO START THE CAR, THE LIGHT CAME ON THAT THE TAIL GATE WAS OPEN. I WENT TO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE TO SLAM THE GATE AND THE WINDOW. WHEN I GOT AROUND TO THE FRONT DOOR OF THE CAR AND OPENED IT, I HEARD A POP AND THE CAR STARTED ROLLING. I STUCK MY FOOT IN TO GET MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, BUT THE OPEN DOOR KNOCKED ME DOWN AND THE CAR CONTINUED ROLLING TILL IT HIT A STONE WALL. I AM SURE THAT I HAD THE CAR IN PARK. THAT DAY I GOT A RENTAL CAR WHICH HAS THE GEAR SHIFT ON THE FLOOR. MY CAR HAS THE GEAR SHIFT ON THE DASH BOARD. FOR DAYS, EVERY TIME I STOPPED, MY HAND WOULD AUTOMATICALLY GO UP TO THE DASH BOARD TO MOVE IT INTO PARK. I AM SURE I HAD THE CAR IN PARK. IT WAS NOT ROLLING WHEN I WAS STANDING BEHIND IT TO SLAM THE TAIL GATE AND WINDOW. IT WAS NOT ROLLING WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE FRONT DOOR. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE "POP" WAS, BUT THAT WAS WHEN THE CAR STARTED ROLLING. FORTUNATELY, MY INJURY WAS SLIGHT. WHEN THE DOOR KNOCKED ME DOWN, I ROLLED AWAY FROM THE CAR. RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE AXLE SEAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE "PROTECTION PROPELLER SHAFT" IS INSTALLED ON THE HONDA 2004 AND 2005 CR-V INCORRECTLY. IT SERVES NO PURPOSE WITH THE WAY IT IS INSTALLED AND COULD POTENTIALLY ALLOW THE SHAFT TO FALL TO THE GROUND DURING FAILURE. *MR THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROTECTOR CANNOT PREVENT THE DRIVE SHAFT FROM FALLING TO THE GROUND IN THE EVENT OF A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE UNIVERSAL CONNECTED JOINTS. THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE PART SHOULD BE EITHER INSTALLED CORRECTLY OR ELIMINATED. *JB
