HONDA REFUSED TO CORRECT THE DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM FOR 2002 TO 2006. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR ONLY TO 2007 TO 2009 WHICH HAVE THE SAME KIND OF PROBLEM. FOR SECOND TIMES, I WAS STUCK BECAUSE THE DRIVER DOOR LOCKED AND CANNOT OPEN AND THEN FORCED MYSELF TO EXIT THROUGH THE PASSENGER DOOR. MY MAJOR CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY REASON IN CASE IF INTO ACCIDENT OR ELSE. HONDA DEALER WANTS OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPLACE PARTS FOR BOTH FRONT DOORS. I AM NOT SURE ABOUT REAR DOORS BUT I LEARNED SOME CRV HAS A PROBLEM WITH ALL DOOR LOCKS. I WAS DEEPLY DISCOURAGED YOUR AGENCY DID NOT DO WITH THIS SITUATION WITH 2002-2006 CRV. I SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. HE SAID DUE TO AN OLD CAR HIGH MILEAGE VEHICLE WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT PARTS AND LABOR. I TOLD HIM REGARDLESS OF AGE OR MILEAGE BUT MY POINT IS MY SAFETY ISSUE. HE SUGGESTED ME TO JUNK MY VEHICLE AND BUY A NEW ONE WILL RESOLVE MY SITUATION. I AM RETIRED AND HAVE A FIXED INCOME FROM SOCIAL SECURITY WHICH I CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY A NEW CAR. MY VEHICLE IS RUNNING VERY GOOD. THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE FRUSTRATED WITH THIS SAFETY-RELATED ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT A SENSOR FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. CONSUMER STATED ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF CONTINUALLY. JUST HAD BRAKES FIXED- BROKEN PADS, NOW LIGHT IS ON AGAIN, TRIM AROUND WINDSHIELD BLEW OFF... 50,000 MILES LIGHT IN INTERIOR FELL DOWN ( IT IS ROTTED). IT IS A LEMON WITH APPARENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, SENSORS ON ALL THE TIME. UPDATED 05/31/18*JB
2004 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE PAINT ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHITE SPOTS STARTING APPEARING ON THE HOOD, THEN WINDOWS AND AROUND THE WINDOWS. ALSO, THE AIR CONDITIONER HAD TO BE FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE HOOD SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE AND SHATTERED THE WINDSHIELD. A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE HOOD LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 47,000. UPDATED 01/03/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE HOOD PUMP ROD, WHICH MADE THE HOOD NOT LATCH PROPERLY. UPDATED 01/09/12
I HAD TAKEN MY SON TO A LOCAL PARK FOR BATTING PRACTICE AND WHEN WE WERE READY TO LEAVE I HAD ASKED MY SON PUT THE BAT AND BALLS IN THE TRUNK OF THE 2004 HONDA CRV. WHEN MY SON HAD PULLED THE HANDLE TO OPEN THE TRUNK, INSTEAD OF SWINGING OPEN, THE TRUNK HAD FALLEN OFF AS THE HINGE PIN BROKE. THE DOOR FELL DOWNWARD, SUSTAINED A LEFT A SIGNIFICANT SCRATCH ON HIS LEG. HAD HE NOT MOVED QUICKLY THE DOOR COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS INJURY RATHER THAN JUST A SCRATCH OR HAD MY PREGNANT WIFE BEEN THE ONE TO OPEN IT A VERY SERIOUS INJURY COULD HAVE OCCURRED. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO FRONTIER HONDA IN LONGMONT, CO, AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE FIX BECAUSE I WAS OVER THE WARRANTY AND NEVER HAD SERVICED THE CAR WITH HONDA, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS KEPT UP ON ALL NECESSARY MAINTENANCE). ONE PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS CLEARLY A DEFECT, WHILE HONDA AMERICA , TOLD ME IT WAS MY OWN FAULT FOR NOT HAVING THE CAR SERVICED REGULARLY AT HONDA. I WAS SO DISGUSTED AT THEIR LACK OF CONCERN FOR THE PROBLEM THAT THE VERY NEXT WEEKEND, I TOOK THE CAR TO TOYOTA AND TRADED IT IN FOR A SAFER VEHICLE.*AK
