THE DRIVER SIDE MASTER WINDOW SWITCH FAILED CAUSING THE PART TO GET VERY HOT, MELT, AND EMIT SMOKE FROM THE SWITCH. THIS COULD HAVE VERY EASILY STARTED A LARGE FIRE IN THE VEHICLE. ONCE THE SWITCH IS MELTED, IT SHORTS OUT THE CIRCUIT CAUSING THE FUSES TO POP AND THE WINDOW WILL NO LONGER OPERATE. I CONTACTED A HONDA DEALERSHIP AND DISCOVERED THE SAME PART # USED IN THE 2006 MODEL IS RECALLED FOR THIS VERY SAME REASON. I BELIEVE THIS AFFECTS MORE PARTS THAN ARE COVERED BY THE RECALL AS A QUICK LOOK ON THE WEB UNCOVERED SEVERAL MORE CASES FOR 2005 MODELS. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE POWER LOCK CANNOT BE LOCKED OR UNLOCKED ON THE DRIVER SIDE WITH MY KEY BUTTON. I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WITH MY KEY. THE REST OF THE LOCKS WORK FINE WITH THE KEY BUTTON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE CONTACT NOTICED THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FAILURE WAS WITHIN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V136000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS:SWITCH) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
FLAT TIRE WAS OBSERVED. THE STOCK STEEL RIMS AND TIRE WERE EXAMINED. A CRACK WAS DISCOVERED ALONG THE SEAM OF THE RIM LEAKING AIR LOOKING AT IT FROM THE AXLE PERSPECTIVE. I'VE HAD FRIENDS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE CRV RIMS. *JS
ON START UP, AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON. BROWN HONDA OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, DIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD AIR BAG SRS UNIT (CODE 53-93), A BAD LEFT SIDE IMPACT SENSOR (1ST)-CODE 43-11, AND A PROBABLE LF HARNESS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AS YET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR CONDITIONER MADE A HIGH PITCH SOUND. THE DEALER RECHARGED THE AIR CONDITIONER; HOWEVER, THAT DID NOT STOP THE HIGH PITCH SOUND. THE DEALER ALSO CHECKED THE COMPRESSOR AND BELTS, BUT FOUND NO PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000. *TR
THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2005 HONDA CR-V BURN OUT AFTER AN UNUSUALLY SHORT TIME. OVER MY THREE YEARS OF OWNING THIS CAR, THE LOW BEAM BULBS BURN OUT ANNUALLY. NOW, THE DRIVER SIDE LOW-BEAM BULB HAS LASTED ONLY TWO MONTHS. ALL BULBS I HAVE USED AS REPLACEMENTS HAVE BEEN OEM BRAND NAMES: EITHER SYLVANIA OR PHILIPS. HEADLIGHTS ARE CRITICAL FOR NIGHTTIME SAFETY. THE HEADLIGHT FAILURE PROBLEM ON 2005 HONDA CR-V VEHICLES IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR
WHY HAS THE 2005 NOT BEEN RECALLED FOR EXTERIOR LIGHTING. THE BULBS FREQUENTLY NEEDED REPLACED AND THEN THE WENT OUT FOR GOOD. WE CAN USE THE FOG LIGHTS AND THE HIGH BEAMS BUT NOT THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS. WE'VE CHANGED FUSES AND BULBS WITH NOT RESULT. PLEASE ADD THIS TO THE RECALL. *TR
THE HEADLIGHTS NO LONGER WORK. WE CAN USE THE FOG LIGHTS AND THE BRIGHTS BUT NOT THE HEADLIGHTS. WE'VE HAD THE BULBS AND THE FUSES CHANGED WITHOUT ANY RESULT. OTHER YEARS FOR THIS SAME MODEL HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT NOT THE 2005 AS OF YET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS MALFUNCTIONED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE HEADLIGHTS FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TURNING THE VEHICLE ON THE FRONT LEFT HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT. THE HEADLIGHT MALFUNCTIONED FOUR TIMES AND THE CONTACT HAD TO CHANGE THE LIGHT BULB CONSISTENTLY. THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE LIGHT BULBS TO BURN OUT. THE HEADLIGHT WAS REPAIRED BY REPLACING A NEW BULB WHENEVER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
MY LOW BEAMHEADLIGHTS STOP WORKING EVERY 3 MONTHS, I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS EACH TIME BUT THEY STILL ONLY LAST 3 MONTHS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO MINE FOR THE 2005 CRV BUT NEITHER YOUR AGENCY OR HONDA HAS DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. APPARENTLY CRV MODELS FROM 2002-2004 HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE A RECALL FOR IT . WHY NOT 2005 CRVS. *TR
MY LOW BEAM BULBS KEEP BLOWING OUT. USUALLY ONE THEN THE OTHER A FEW WEEKS LATER. JUST LAST WEEK BOTH BLEW OUT AT THE SAME TIME AFTER I HEARD A SUDDEN POP WHEN I TURNED THEM ON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONLY THE HIGH BEAMS COULD BE ACTIVATED ON THE HEADLIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE COMBINATION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE COMBINATION SWITCH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,300.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2005 CR-V SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR ALONE (AT LEAST 4 TIMES THAT I CAN REMEMBER). THE LIGHTS GO OUT RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING (THE EXACT SPEED IS UNKNOWN). THIS OBVIOUSLY PRESENTS A VERY GREAT SAFETY HAZARD, AND I AM VERY CONCERNED AS MY WIFE AND NEWBORN BABY SOMETIMES USE THIS CAR. THE LAST TIME WE HAD THE BULBS REPLACED, THERE APPEARED TO BE SCORCH MARKS ON THE WIRE CONNECTOR THAT ATTACHES TO THE BACK OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THERE ARE MANY FORUM POSTS ON THE INTERNET OF DRIVERS WHO HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES TO MINE WITH THE SAME MODEL YEAR (2005) AND ALSO WITH 2006 CR-VS. DRIVER AND SIDEPOWER WINDOWS SWITCH MALFUNCTIONS, RENDER POWERLESS, HEATS UP AND FAIL TO OPERATE. *TR
IN EARLY NOVEMBER, 2011 A CAMARO RAN A RED LIGHT, AND OUR 2005 HONDA CR-V CRASHED INTO THE CAMARO. BOTH OF US WERE GOING ABOUT 30 MPH. THE FRONT AND DRIVER SIDE AIR BAGS ALL SUCCESSFULLY DEPLOYED, HOWEVER, THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG BURST OPEN AND I GOT SECONDARY BURNS TO BOTH MY LEFT AND RIGHT WRISTS. THE SLEEVES OF MY JACKET-COAT WERE FRIED STIFF. THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE AIRBAG SAVED MY LIFE, BUT THE MALFUNCTION OF IT BURSTING OPEN, PRODUCING SECONDARY BURNS, CAN PROBABLY BE SOMETHING THAT THEY CAN IMPROVE ON.
THERE WAS A GROAN COMING FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN OR TIGHT TURN AT LOW SPEED. THE MILEAGE WAS 18769 MILES. THE CAUSE WAS ATTRIBUTED TO CONTAMINATION OF THE FLUID IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THE FLUID WAS DRAINED AND THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CLUTCHES WERE BURNISHED. HOWEVER, THE DRAINED FLUID WAS CLEAN. THE FLUID WAS AGAIN REPLACED. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO A CAR WITH THIS LOW MILEAGE. THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE WRONG FLUID WAS INSTALLED AT THE TIME OF MANUFACTURE. I WILL SEEK COMPENSATION FROM HONDA. *TR
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2005 CR-V HAVE BEEN REPLACED 6 TIMES OVER THE PAST 7 MONTHS. SOMETIMES THE PASSENGER SIDE, SOMETIMES THE DRIVERS SIDE, AND ONE TIME BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AT NIGHT. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL OF THIS EXACT PROBLEM WITH 2002-2004 CR-V DUE TO A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS, BUT NOT WITH ANY LATER MODELS YET. I HAVE INFORMED HONDA OF THIS PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE NO RESOLUTION AT THIS TIME. *JS

THE EXACT REPAIRS WERE UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
THE LOW-BEAM HEADLAMPS KEEP BURNING OUT PREMATURELY. OEM HALOGEN HEADLAMPS LASTED ABOUT 4-5 YEARS BEFORE HAVING TO REPLACE. NOW I AM LUCKY TO GO 6 MONTHS WITHOUT HAVING TO REPLACE A HEADLAMP, PARTICULARLY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. AM USING SYLVANIA SILVERSTAR H1ST REPLACEMENTS. NO OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND SEE THIS SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER CR-V OWNERS ONLINE WITH VARIOUS BULB BRANDS. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DOOR HINGE EXHIBITED EXTENSIVE RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HINGE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
BOTH LOW BEAM FRONT HEADLIGHTS HAD BEEN WORKING THE PREVIOUS NIGHT AND DURING THE DAY OF THE 17TH (PA HAS A LOT OF WORK ZONES AND REQUIRES HEADLIGHTS TO BE ON). DRIVING EAST ON I-76 FROM PITTSBURGH TO BREEZEWOOD, BEGINNING A LITTLE AFTER 6:00 P.M. AND NOT YET DARK, FRONT HEADLIGHTS WERE ON AND WORKING. UNCLEAR WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, SINCE THERE WERE LIT PARTS OF THE ROAD, AND A LOT OF TRAFFIC, BUT BY 7:45 IT WAS CLEAR THE LIGHTS (BOTH LOW BEAM LIGHTS) WERE OUT. THE HIGH BEAMS WORKED, WHICH I USED INTERMITTENTLY, UNTIL I COULD GET OFF THE TURNPIKE AT MIDWAY SERVICE AREA. CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE AROUND 8:40. VEHICLE WAS TOWED; MECHANIC 'FIXED' BY REPLACING THE BOTH FRONT LOW BEAM LIGHT BULBS. BOTH LIGHT BULBS HAD BEEN REPLACED THE PREVIOUS YEAR, SEPARATELY, ABOUT A MONTH APART. *KB
IN AUGUST 2011, RIGHT HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT AND TWO WEEKS LATER, LEFT HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT. MID DECEMBER, LEFT BURNED OUT AGAIN AND BY END OF DECEMBER 2011, LEFT BURNED OUT YET AGAIN WITHIN ABOUT TWO WEEKS OF CHANGING IT. IT APPEARS OTHER CR-V OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING FREQUENT BURNOUTS AS WELL. I HAVEN'T PERSONALLY TESTED TO SEE IF IT'S ONLY LOW BEAM VS HIGH BEAM BUT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, WILL DO SO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ACTIVATED, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT SUDDENLY FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT BULB WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES. IN ADDITION, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT BULB WAS REPLACED TWO TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE LOCK ACTUATOR IN BOTH MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WENT OUT. I SPENT WELL OVER $500 IN REPAIRS. IT AFFECTED ALL MY DOORS. THEY COULD NOT BE LOCKED/UNLOCKED WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY NOR WITH THE POWER LOCKS BUTTON INSIDE MY CAR. MY DOORS HAD TO BE MANUALLY LOCKED AND UNLOCKED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THE CR-V. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP ADMITTED TO ME THAT THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY, BUT CORPORATE HAS YET TO ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
AC COMPLETE FAILURE WITH NO WARNING AT 90000 MILES. ITS TWIN CAR, 2006 CRV HAD EXACT SAME PROBLEM AT SAME MILEAGE ALMOST A YEAR TO THE DAY LATER. $1400 REPAIR, SYSTEM TOTALLY SHOT WITH NO WARNING. HONDA DENIES PROBLEMS IN THESE VEHICLE YEARS, BUT PAID PART OF THE COST OF REPAIR AS WE NOTED TO THEM THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE IN THE 2003 AND 2004 CRVS. *TR
FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULBS DUE TO UNEXPLAINED FAILURE. I HAVE NEEDED TO REPLACE BULBS ANYWHERE FROM ONE TO SIX MONTHS. I WOULD LIKE MY VEHICLE TO BE RECALLED FOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:INTERIOR/UNDER DASH EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS:HIGH/LOW BEAM DIMMER SWITCH EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS:SWITCH

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR ATTENUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR THE AFFECTED DOORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 137,000. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CRV. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SWITCH AND WHEN HE TOUCHED IT THE SWITCH WAS HOT, CAUSING IT TO MELT THE WIRES TOGETHER. HE OPENED THE DOOR PANEL AND REMOVED THE SWITCH. THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WERE INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 151,000.
THE HEADLIGHTS OF MY 2005 CRV HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED 3 TIMES ON EACH SIDE DURING THE LAST YEAR. I SEE THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THAT DEFECT BUT IT DOES NOT COVER THE 2005 MODELS. WHEN WILL HONDA ANNOUNCE THE RECALL ON THIS FOR THE 2005 MODEL? I AM CONCERNED THAT BOTH HEADLIGHTS WILL FAIL AT THE SAME TIME AND I WILL BE DRIVING AT NIGHT. THEN IT WILL BE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
2005 HONDA CR-V. CONSUMER STATES GRINDING NOISE AND TIRE WALL DETERIORATION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE TIRE WALL DETERIORATED IT PULLED APART WEDGING BETWEEN THE AXLE ROD AND TIRE AND WAS BEGINNING TO SHRED THE TIRE. A MONTH LATER, SHE NOTICED THE PLASTIC TIRE WALL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE HAD ALSO STARTED TO DISINTEGRATE AND WAS BREAKING DOWN IN A SIMILAR FASHION. IN EARLY JULY, WHILE DRIVING, THE PLASTIC FRONT PIECE ON THE GRILL ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE CAME LOOSE AND STARTING FLAPPING UP AND DOWN. *JB
MY FRONT LEFT HEAD LAMP BULB HAS GONE OUT TWO TIMES IN APPROX 1 YEAR, THE 2ND REPLACMENT OF THE FRONT LEFT HEADLAMP BULB WAS DONE APPROX 3 WEEKS AGO, WITHIN THE LAST WEEK THE RIGHT SIDE HEADLAMP HAS GONE OUT. I DON'T DRIVE OFF ROAD IN ANY WAY, THIS VEHICLE IS STRICKTLY USED FOR HIGHWAY COMMUNITING.REPLACEMENT WAS DONE ALL TIMES BY A BONAFIDE MECHANIC.THIS APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT OF SOME TYPE. *TR
WHY HAS **2005** CR-V NOT BEEN RECALLED FOR HEADLIGHT / SAFETY MALFUNCTION? DRIVING IN THE DARK, RAIN, OR HEAVY (MN) SNOW ALL EXTREMELY UNSAFE. HAVE HAD 2005 PASSENGER (RIGHT) SIDE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHT REPLACED ~10 TIMES IN 18 MONTHS, DRIVER SIDE ~4 TIMES. PASSENGER-SIDE LOW-BEAM LAST REPLACED TWO WEEKS AGO AND IS ALREADY OUT. MECHANIC(S) FIND NO CAUSE. ***YES, I HAVE SEEN THAT NHTSA DIR EA11012 STATES, "ANALYSIS OF COMPLAINT AND HONDA DATA SHOW THAT A COMPLETE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CIRCUIT FAILURE OCCURS IN MODELS WITH 2-BULB HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS (I.E., A SINGLE BULB ON EACH SIDE FOR HIGH AND LOW BEAM). MODELS WITH 2-BULB SYSTEMS INCLUDE MY 2002-2004 CR-V...MODELS WITH 4-BULB HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS (I.E., TWO BULBS ON EACH SIDE, ONE FOR HIGH AND ONE FOR LOW BEAM) HAVE DIFFERENT ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS FOR THE HEADLIGHTS AND DO NOT EXPERIENCE THE SAME FAILURE MECHANISM AS THE 2-BULB SYSTEM...HONDA INTRODUCED THE 4-BULB HEADLIGHT SYSTEM IN CR-V IN MY 2005. ***WHATEVER THE MECHANICS OF THE PROBLEM--2-BULB OR 4-BULB SYSTEM--A SIMPLE SEARCH GIVES AMPLE EVIDENCE THAT THERE IS, IN FACT, A SERIOUS HEADLIGHT AND SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE **2005** CR-V (EMPHASIS ADDED). TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE DASH AC LOOKED AT WAS TOLD THE COMPRESSOR HAD WHAT THEY CALLED GRENADED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPRESSOR HAD BLEW APART AND SENT SMALL PIECES OF METAL THROUGH THE AC SYSTEM. AND THE WHOLE COMPLETE SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED I HAVE READ ON A FEW SITES OF OTHER PEOPLES CRV DOING THE SAME THING. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED STEADY VIBRATION ONCE TRAVELING OVER 42 MPH. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT BOTH AXLES WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE AXLES BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT THEN REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER SO THAT AN ENGINEER COULD FURTHER INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 HONDA CRV ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO RACE AND THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE RAPIDLY. I COULDN'T FEEL THE GAS PEDAL WITH MY FOOT. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, PULL OFF ON THE SHOULDER, AND TURN OFF THE IGNITION, STOPPING THE ENGINE. I MOVED THE DRIVER'S SEAT BACKWARD, GOT DOWN ON THE FLOOR TO LOOK, AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FACTORY-EQUIPPED FLOOR MAT HAD SHIFTED SO IT COVERED THE GAS PEDAL. I REMOVED THE FLOOR MAT, RE-STARTED THE CAR, AND THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. BUT IF THIS PROBLEM STARTS CROPPING UP WITH OTHER '05 CRVS, IT IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR
HONDA CRV 2005 EX MODEL STARTED LATELY (2010 LATE) TO HAVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL NOISE, ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING BIG TURNS AT VERY LOW SPEED (STARTING FROM STOP). THIS IS THE DESIGN PROBLEM. *TR
THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD ONLY DIAGNOSE IT WHEN IT WAS LIT. IT CAME ON AGAIN NEAR ANOTHER DEALER SO WE DETOURED THERE. THEY SAID IT JUST NEEDED TO BE RESET. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR I DROVE ABOUT 3 MILES AND THE WARNING LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE CONTROLLER BOARD AND THE UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE AIRBAG UNIT ($1300) AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. ABOUT 2 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THE CAR REMAINS THERE WHILE THEY ATTEMPT TO ACTUALLY CORRECT WHATEVER IS TRIGGERING THE WARNING LIGHT. *TR
MY HONDA CR-V HAS HAD THE HEADLIGHTS GO OUT APPROXIMATELY 8 TIMES IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS. THEY USUALLY GO OUT ONE AT A TIME, BUT THIS PAST WEEKEND, THEY BOTH WENT OUT SIMULTANEOUSLY. HONDA SAYS THIS IS A RECALL FOR 2002 TO 2004 CR-V FOR A WIRING ISSUE ON THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS, BUT 2005 IS NOT INCLUDED. I BELIEVE THERE IS DEFECTIVE WIRING IN MY HEADLIGHT SYSTEM AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY A RECALL. *TR
FRONT DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT KEEPS BURNING OUT. I HAVE TO KEEP CHANGING IT EVERY FEW MONTHS. NOW, IT APPEARS THAT THE HEADLIGHT HAS ELECTRICAL ISSUES. LOW BEAM IS VERY DIM AND THE HIGH BEAM DOES NOT WORK. I ALSO EXPERIENCED OTHER TYPE OF ELECTRICAL ISSUES. VERY OFTEN, THE FUEL CAP WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. I CHECK EVERY TIME AND THE CAP IS SCREWED ON TIGHTLY. AFTER A FEW TIME TURNING MY CAR OFF AND ON THE LIGHT GOES OUT. ALSO, AFTER I DRIVE MY CAR, IT ALWAYS SMELLS LIKE BURNED PLASTIC. MY RESEARCH ON INDICATES THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL HAD NOT ONLY SIMILAR BUT SAME ISSUES WITH THEIR HEADLIGHTS. CAN SOMETHING BE DONE ABOUT THIS? THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, BUT NOT THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE INSURANCE COMPANIES INSPECTION STATION WHERE IT WAS RULED DESTROYED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
ON JANUARY 24, 2011, I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING 3 CARS. I REAR ENDED A CAVALIER, WHICH IN TURN REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT. I HIT THE CAR AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. WITH NO BRAKE APPLIED UPON IMPACT. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINT RETRAINED ME FROM HITTING THE WINDSHIELD BUT SIGNIFICANT BRUISING AND STRAIN OCCURRED FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS THE 2ND REAR ENDING THAT HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT EITHER OCCASION. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIR WITH INITIAL ESTIMATE OF $6500 IN REPAIRS, WITH SUPPLEMENTAL REPAIRS AS WELL. ONE OF THE SUPPLEMENTAL REPAIR WAS THE DRIVER SEAT BELT RESTRAINT THAT IS NOW OVEREXTENDED, THUS CAUSING A ICON TO DISPLAY ON THE DASH CONTROL PANEL. THE DRIVER SEAT BELT WILL NO LONGER RETRACT AND MUST BE REPLACED BY THE AUTO BODY SHOP. SIGNIFICANT FRONT END, HEAD ON DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT BUMPER AND METAL BUMPER SUPPORTS WERE CRUMPLED BACK TOWARDS THE ENGINE. THE WELDED METAL ENCLOSURE AROUND THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WAS PUSHED BACK SIGNIFICANTLY, AS WELL AS THE RADIATOR AND COOLING CONDENSER. THE HOOD WAS CRUMPLED BACK TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD. THE FRONT BUMPER AND GRILLE WERE DEMOLISHED AND CAME OFF THE VEHICLE UPON IMPACT. THE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND WOULD HAVE SAVED ME FROM SIGNIFICANT BRUISING AND STRAIN FROM THE IMPACT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY ONCE THE CAR IS RETURNED TO ME. *TR
ON JAN 8TH 2011 I WAS INVOLVED IN A WRECK INVOLVING MY 2005 HONDA CRV LX MODEL EQUIPPED WITH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS. IT WAS A FRONTAL IMPACT AT 35 TO40 MPH CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR WHICH WAS TOTALED. THE SEAT BELTS DID THEIR EXPECTED JOB BUT CAUSED BRUISING TO MY WIFE'S CHEST, STOMACH AREA AND STERNUM (POSSIBLE FRACTURE). MY COMPLAINT WAS THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON EITHER THE DRIVERS SIDE NOR THE PASSENGERS SIDE. I BELIEVE IF THIS WOULD HAVE DEPLOYED MY WIFE WOULD NOT HAVE SUFFERED THESE TYPE OF INJURIES OR WOULD HAVE LESSENED THEM. I CALLED THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO DISCUSS THIS AND HE GAVE ME SOME OFF THE WALL REASON WHY THEY DID NOT DEPLOY EVEN AT A 35 TO 40 MPH FRONT COLLISION! THE SENSORS ON THE FRONT BUMPER AREA , RADIATOR , ENGINE AND FRAME WERE DAMAGED TO THE POINT THEY SEEMED TO BE MOVED BACK TOWARDS THE PASSENGER CAB. THESE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED ON IMPACT BUT DID NOT. I CANNOT FIND ANY CUSTOMER HELP LINE FOR HONDA TO REPORT THIS. I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED TO SEE IF THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. *TR
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE, A 2005 HONDA CRV WITH 56,781 MILES CURRENTLY, AND NO LONGER COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY. AT @ 55,500 MILES,THE CAR HAD THE ABS AND VSA LIGHTS COME ON SPONTANEOUSLY ON THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY WHICH INDICATED THAT THEY WERE NOT FUNCTIONAL. THEY WOULD NOT TURN OFF. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO ITS REGULAR SERVICE DEALERSHIP, ECONOMY HONDA IN CHATTANOOGA,TN AND THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED (FREE OF CHARGE) AS A FAILURE OF THE ABS/VSA MODULATOR (COMPUTER). COST TO REPAIR WAS @ $2,400.00 (@ $1800 FOR THE PART, BALANCE LABOR). THEY SAID IT WAS O.K. TO DRIVE BUT IT HAD NO ANTI-LOCK BRAKES OR VSA. BECAUSE THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, AN UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE AND VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR, I CONTACTED THE DISTRICT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE (CASE # N012011-03-1501146) AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. THEY WERE MOST HELPFUL AND COURTEOUS. THEY RECORDED THE COMPLAINT AND AFTER 3 DAYS HONDA CALLED AND AGREED TO SHARE 50% OF THE COST TO REPAIR. THE CRV WAS REPAIRED ON MARCH 29,2011 AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP WITH MY COST SHARE OF $1206.79. IN MY INTERNET SEARCH ON THE PROBLEM, I FOUND AT LEAST 55 INSTANCES (USA, CA, AND EU) OF THE SAME ABS/VSA PROBLEM AND COST TO REPAIR ON ONE BLOG I FOUND. ALL VEHICLES WERE 2005 AND 2006 HONDA CRVS. *TR
WE BOUGHT OUR 2005 CR-V SE IN SUM 10 AND LOVE THE VEHICLE. SINCE THEN HOWEVER, WE'VE HAD TO CHANGE HEADLIGHT BULBS APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 12 TIMES. SOMETIMES A SINGLE BULB, SOMETIMES BOTH... THEY SIMPLY GO OUT EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. WE EVEN HAD TO RIDE HOME ONE NIGHT WITH "HIGH BEAMS" BECAUSE THE BOTH LOW BEAMS SIMPLY FAILED. THE NEXT DAY WE PURCHASED NEW BULBS, INSTALLED THEM ON THE CR-V, AND NOW THE LOW-BEAMS WORK, BUT THE HIGH BEAMS DO NOT. IT'S KIND OF GETTING OLD BUYING NEW BULBS EVERY FEW MONTHS! MY PROBLEM/CONCERN IS THE FACT THAT WE HAVE A KNOWN RECALL FOR A EXTREMELY SIMILAR ISSUE ON 2002 THRU 2004 CR-V MODELS. THAT RECALLS SUMMARY STATES: "DUE TO TENSION FROM THE COMBINATION SWITCH WIRING HARNESS, WEAR ON THE SURFACE OF THE ELECTRICAL TERMINAL CAN OCCUR, YIELDING COPPER OXIDE, WHICH INCREASES ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE. INCREASED ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE MAY CAUSE THE TERMINAL ENDS TO MELT WITHIN THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR." THE CONSEQUENCE LISTED ON THIS RECALL IS: "IF THE TERMINAL ENDS MELT WITHIN THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS MAY BECOME INOPERATIVE, REDUCING DRIVER VISIBILITY AND INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH." BASED ON OUR EXPERIENCE, IT SEEMS THE RECALL LISTED ABOVE SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE THE 2005 CR-V MODELS AS WELL. WE'VE LOOKED AT CURRENT RECALLS FOR OUR VEHICLE UNDER THE HONDA OWNERS SITE AND THERE ARE NONE LISTED FOR OUR VIN... ? HONDA MAY WANT TO RE-VISIT THIS RECALLS COVERAGE BEFORE ANY OTHER 2005 CR-V OWNER'S HEADLIGHTS GO OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHILE DRIVING... THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN! *TR

THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT JOYCE HONDA IN DENVILLE, NJ ROUTINELY OVERINFLATES THEIR CUSTOMER'S TIRES BY AT LEAST 5 LBS IN WINTER. THEY TELL ME THAT THEY DO THAT SO THAT THEY'RE NOT GETTING LOTS OF CALLS FROM CUSTOMERS WHEN THEIR TPMS LIGHT GOES OFF. I CAN'T SEE HOW THAT PRACTICE BENEFITS ANYONE BUT THEM BY SAVING THEM FROM HAVING TO EXPLAIN THAT, IF THE LIGHT IS ON, YOU NEED TO CHECK YOUR TIRE PRESSURE. *TR
