COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE TWICE-- PEDAL TO FLOOR. PROBLEM NOT IDENTIFIED BECAUSE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE FAILURE. CAR NOT REPAIRED AND STILL DANGEROUS. *JB
VEHICLE TIRES LOSING AIR DUE TO DEFECT IN SEAM OF RIM. THIS OCCURRED ON TWO OF MY CAR'S TIRES AND RIMS. COSTCO AUTO REPAIR PERSONNEL ADVISED THAT THERE IS A HOLE IN THE SEAM (OF THE RIM) WHICH IS CAUSING AIR TO LEAK OUT OF THE TIRE. *TR
TL* - THE BRIDGESTONE DUELER TIRE EXPLODED. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 72 MPH . THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE DRY. THE CONTACT HAS THE DAMAGED TIRE. THE 2005 HONDA CRV HAD APPROXIMATELY 34,000 MILES ON IT. THE CONTACT DID NOT STRIKE A ROAD HAZARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS OR INDICATOR LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SWERVE, AND THE TIRE EXPLODED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ORIGINAL 4 TIRES O EXPLODED EXCEPT ONE WHICH REMAINED ON THE VEHICLE. EVERY YEAR OR SO I HAVE TO REPLACE A LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT BULB. FIVE BULBS HAVE GONE OUT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND TWO BULBS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE ALWAYS REPLACED THE BULBS WITH LATEX GLOVES ON AS TO NOT PUT HAND OIL ON THE BULBS. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE A HONDA DEALERSHIP. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED ON SEPTEMBER 6, 2005, APRIL 30, 2006, AND MAY 4, 2006 AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IMMEDIATELY RESTATED. FOLLOWING EACH INCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO HAS BEEN UNABLE TO IDENTIFY OR REPAIR THE SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. *AK
I HAVE HAD TO PUT A NEW LOW BEAM BULB IN RIGHT HEADLIGHT ABOUT EVERY 4 MONTHS SINCE PURCHASE. FEW DAYS AGO TRIED 2 NEW BULBS - ONLY GET TINY AMOUNT OF LIGHT WITH BOTH. BIG SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
I HAD JUST COME OFF THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED ONTO A STATE ROAD. I WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR THE UPCOMING INTERSECTION, WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED SPEEDING OUT OF CONTROL AND THE BRAKES COULD NOT STOP MY CAR FROM SLAMMING INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. AFTER THE CRASH, THE WOMAN I HIT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR REVVED WILDLY. THIS WAS LATER NOTED BY THE WOMAN I HIT, AS WELL. IN DESPERATION I TURNED THE KEY OFF AND LET THE CAR ROLL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE FIREMEN DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY FOR SAFETY. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER CAME, HE RECONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLES AND THE CAR STARTED ITSELF UP AND BEGAN TO REV. THE DRIVER SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT BEFORE. I HAVE HIS NAME AND NUMBER. THE AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED AND I WAS FORTUNATE TO ONLY RECEIVE WHIPLASH AND MY DOG SEEMS OK. THE OTHER DRIVER HAS BACK PROBLEMS BUT WAS FORTUNATELY DRIVING A NISSAN XTERRA THAT DID NOT GET NEARLY THE DAMAGE MY CAR RECEIVED. I AM JUST SO THANKFUL THAT MY CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE CAR, AND THAT THERE WERE NO PEDESTRIANS OR CHILDREN IN FRONT OF ME. *NM
DRIVING ALONG A 4 LANE ROAD AT 25-30 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY CAR ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL. THOUGH I STOMPED ON BRAKES, MY CAR SMASHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND I RECEIVED SEVERE WHIPLASH. THE CAR SUSTAINED MORE THAN $12,000 DAMAGE. HONDA REFUSES TO ADMIT THE CAR HAD A PROBLEM. *NM
ON MY 2005 HONDA CR-V THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. IT WILL FALL INTO MY VIEW OF THE ROAD AT ANY TIME BLOCKING MY VIEW OF THE ROAD. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OEM HONDA REPLACEMENTS AND THEY HAVE ALL FAIL IN THE SAME MANOR. HONDA WILL NO LONGER REPLACE THIS DEFECTIVE ITEM UNDER WARRANTY. DRIVER AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY AFTER CRASH. *NM
AIR BAG SENSOR UNDER RIGHT FRONT SEAT NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THIS WAS FOUND WHEN THE DEALERSHIP INSISTED I CALL IN MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO LOOK AT DAMPNESS IN THE CAR. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY RESOLUTION TO THE DAMPNESS/MOLD/MILDEW ISSUE AND NO ONE HAS ADDRESSED THE AIR BAG SENSOR, OTHER THAN A VERBAL NOTIFICATION FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I'VE FOLLOWED WHAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS SUGGESTED IN REGARDS TO THE DAMPNESS/MOLD/MILDEW - REMOVED THE MATS (RIGHT FRONT WAS WET UNDERNEATH WITH MOLD), KEEP THE A/C ON EXTERIOR CIRCULATION WHEN THE CAR IS CLOSED UP & HAD THE CAR DETAILED...NONE OF WHICH HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM. THEY WANT ME TO GUARANTEE PAYMENT OF OVER $4000 TO HAVE THE CARPET REMOVED, CAR 'DRIED' OUT & CARPET REPLACED. *JB
THIS VEHICLE, AND ITS TWIN, A 2006 CRV, CONSTANTLY HAVE BLOWN OUT HEADLIGHTS (LOW BEAMS). THEY BLOW OUT EVERY FEW THOUSAND MILES, WHICH IS A VERY EXPENSIVE, ANNOYING, AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM. HONDA DENIES A PROBLEM, BUT BETWEEN THE TWO VEHICLES WE HAVE REPLACED DOZENS AND DOZENS OF HEADLAMPS, WE NOW BUY THEM THREE AT A TIME TO CUT DOWN OUR TRIPS TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE. WE RARELY USE THE HEADLIGHTS IN DAYTIME, ONLY WHEN NECESSARY, WHICH I FEEL IS COMPROMISING SAFETY, SINCE THE LIGHTS GO OUT ON SUCH A CONSTANT BASIS. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING A 2005 HONDA CRV AND THE CAR STARTING SMOKING AND LEAKING OIL. THE HONDA DEALER STATED THAT AN OIL CHANGE WAS IMPROPERLY DONE. HOWEVER, I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING TO OTHER PEOPLE AND WANTED TO REPORT IT SO IT WAS ON FILE AT THE NHTSA.. *AK
I PURCHASED MY 2005 HONDA CRV IN AUGUST, 2005 AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE BOTH HEADLIGHT BULBS AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR. THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT BULB HAS BURNED OUT MORE FREQUENTLY THAN THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE HONDA DEALERSHIPS DO NOT THINK THIS IS A PROBLEM AND WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ANY CONCERN STATING THERE HAVE BEEN NO RECALLS INITIATED BY HONDA ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM. ALSO, THE LIGHTS THAT ILLUMINATE THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE, AND THE RPM INDICATOR ON THE DASHBOARD ARE BURNT OUT COMPLETELY, AND THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE IS ONLY PARTIALLY ILLUMINATED, AS WELL AS THE INDICATOR DIALS/SELECTORS THAT CONTROL THE AC/HEATER FAN SPEED, TEMPERATURE, AND POSITION OF THE AIR TO BE DISTRIBUTED. HONDA DEALERSHIPS CLAIM THAT THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ARE FUSE RELATED AND THE INDICATOR/SELECTOR DIALS WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED COMPLETELY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY FOUR YEARS AGO. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CRV. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE TILT ADJUSTER THAT CONTROLS DIFFERENT SETTINGS TO ADJUST THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED. THE STEERING COLUMN LOOSENED AND MOVED UP AND DOWN WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT HAD TO HOLD THE TILT ADJUSTER LOCK IN HIS HAND WHILE DRIVING UNTIL IT LOCKED BACK INTO PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE TILT ADJUSTER WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED AND WERE REPLACED FOUR TIMES IN ONE YEAR. IN ADDITION, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT COULD NOT VIEW THE GAUGES. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC PROVIDED REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE CAUSE OF THE ELECTRICAL FAILURES WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ALSO EXHIBITED TIRE CUPPING FOR THE REAR TIRES. THE TIRES HAD BEEN REPLACED EVERY 2.5 YEARS DUE TO EXCESSIVE TREADWEAR ON THE REAR TIRES. THE CONTACT HAD THE TIRES ROTATED EVERY 3,000 MILES; HOWEVER, THE REAR TIRE CUPPING CONTINUED. FIRST TEAM HONDA (3444 WESTERN BRANCH BLVD, CHESAPEAKE, VA 23321, (757) 337-6597) AND WILLIAMSBURG HONDA (7101 RICHMOND RD, WILLIAMSBURG, VA 23188, (757) 564-4671) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
DRIVING DOWN THE ON RAMP ONTO I-95 MY 2005 SRV SE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE LAST TIME I SERVICED THE CAR WAS LAST WEEK FOR AN OIL CHANGE. SINCE THEN I HAVE DRIVEN OVER 300 MILES WITH NO PROBLEMS OR WARNING SIGNS. THE CAR IS NOT TOTALED AND I AM DEALING WITH THE INSURANCE. *JB
APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY VEHICLE, I STARTED NOTICING THAT THE LIGHT IDENTIFYING THE BACK HATCH AS BEING OPEN WAS FLASHING ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING OVER SPEED BUMPS, AROUND CORNERS, ETC. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR SWITCH. A FEW MONTHS AFTER THAT, THE LIGHT JUST STARTED TO COME ON AND STAY ON. AGAIN THE DEALER ADJUSTED AND REPLACED THE SWITCH. IT CAME ON AGAIN WITHIN ONE WEEK AND THE DEALER PUT DOUBLE STICK TAPE ON THE SENSOR TO FIX IT. WITHIN A WEEK, THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME, THE DEALER DRILLED A NEW HOLE AND RELOCATED THE SENSOR APPROX. 1/2 INCH INSIDE THE DOOR OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON, THE BACK DOME LIGHT FLASHES ON AS WELL. THIS IS EXTREMELY DISTRACTING AT NIGHT. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON, THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS CANNOT BE ENGAGED BY USING THE SWITCH AND THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE LOCKED WITH THE REMOTE, THE KEY MUST BE USED. HOWEVER, YOU CANNOT LOCK THE BACK HATCH AND THE ALARM DOESN'T FUNCTION AT ALL WHEN THE SENSOR IS ACTIVATED. THE DEALER HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN SEVERAL VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM AND THAT HONDA HAS NOT YET FIGURED OUT A WAY TO PERMANENTLY FIX THE PROBLEM. SO FAR, MY HATCH LIGHT IS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY AGAIN, BUT IT HAS ONLY BEEN 2 WEEKS SINCE THE LAST FIX. *NM
A RESTRAINED 54 YEAR OLD MALE, WAS INVOLVED IN AN OFFSET FRONTAL COLLISION WHILE DRIVING HIS 2005 HONDA CR-V. A 1995 DODGE NEON CROSSED THE CENTER LINE OF A 2-LANE ROAD AND COLLIDED WITH HIS VEHICLE. THE DRIVER OF THE NEON WAS TREATED AND RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL ON THE SAME DAY WITH SOME FACIAL INJURIES. THE DRIVER OF THE HONDA DIED AT THE SCENE AND WAS REVIVED BY EMT PERSONNEL. HE NOW HAS QUADRIPLEGIC. THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT, SIDE BOLSTER AND SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS IN THE CR-V DID DEPLOY. HIS INJURY WAS TO C4 AND C5. THIS DRIVER HAD NO PRIOR NECK INJURY. THE CHANGE IN VELOCITY SEEN BY THIS VEHICLE IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN LESS THAN 30 MILES PER HOUR.*JB
MY 2005 HONDA CR-V PULLS STRONGLY TO THE RIGHT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I VISITED THE DEALER, AND THEY INDICATED THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT DESCRIBED IN HONDA TSB 05-022. HOWEVER, THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR IT!
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE STOPPED APPROXIMATELY 1 TO 2 CAR LENGTHS AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL BRAKING POINT. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER THREE TIMES, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. AS OF JULY 24, 2007, THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,332 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10.
VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES PER HOUR DURING EVENING IN LOW TRAFFIC ON 4 LANE URBAN ROAD. THE ENGINE STALLED ABRUPTLY AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND GAUGE INDICATORS FELL TO ZERO. COINCIDENT WITH THE STALL, THE CAR LOST STEERING (THE STEERING WHEEL COULD BE MOVED NO MORE THAN 1-2 INCHES TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT, WITH REFERENCE TO STEERING WHEEL CIRCUMFERENCE), WOULD NOT BRAKE (WITH FULL WEIGHT PRESSURE ON PEDAL), AND WAS BROUGHT TO A STOP BY ENGINE DRAG AND APPLICATION OF EMERGENCY BRAKE. RESTARTING REQUIRED SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. HAD THIS PROBLEM MANIFESTED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A CURVE AT FREEWAY SPEED, A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WOULD LIKELY HAVE BEEN INEVITABLE. *JB
THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED SEVERAL MECHANICAL PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 HONDA CRV EX. *NM THE CENTER BEARING WAS REPLACED BECAUSE IT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE/NOISE WHILE IDLING. THE CONSUMER STILL HEARD NOISE IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE NOISE WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE RUNS ROUGH WITH THE A/C ON. THE DEALER SAID THIS WAS NORMAL. THE CONSUMER WOULD LIKE THE MANUFACTURER TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE OR PROVED A FULL REFUND SINCE THE DEALER CANNOT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WOULD DRAG ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD AND FAILED TO CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD OF RAIN. *NM
CR-V PURCHASED WAS DIFFERENT FROM CR-V TESTED. AFTER TAKING TITLE NOTICED CAR PULLING TO RIGHT. DEALER ALIGNED ACCORDING TO BULLETIN. CR-V STILL PULLS TO RIGHT. COULD GO OFF ROAD IF STEERING WHEEL NOT HELD TIGHTLY. *JB
I TOOK MY CAR FOR A WASH AND WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR MY TURN, I STARTED HEARING SOME NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE-PITCH SOUND. I GOT ALARMED AND I THOUGHT IT WILL GO. LATER WHEN I DROVE HOME, I PARKED MY CAR IN THE GARAGE AND THE NOISE CONTINUED. ON THE 03 OCT 05 THE SOUND INCREASED IN PITCH BUT I AM UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE WHERE ITS COMING FROM. FOR THOSE WHO ARE FAMILIAR WITH SONAR SOUND(NAVY SHIPS), THE NOISE SOUNDS THE SAME AND HIGH PITCHED.*JB
INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHT FAILURE 9-15-06- N/C WARRANTY WORK. LOW BEAM LIGHTS CUT IN AND OUT - 11/06/06 N/C WARRANTY WORK. LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT OUT - 9-18-08 - COST = 22.50 + COST OF BULB 10.00=$32.50. HEADLIGHT BULB OUT - 12-6-2008 - COST = $26.29. LEFT HEADLIGHT INOPERABLE -6-11-2011 COST = $32.85. LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS INOPERABLE -10-03-11 COST = $56.30. I HAVE ALSO BEEN PULLED OVER TWICE FOR DRIVING WITHOUT A LIGHT BECAUSE I DID NOT KNOW THE LIGHTS WERE OUT. I HAVE STARTED THE CAR AT NIGHT TO FIND OUT I HAD NO LIGHTS. I HAVE DRIVEN DOWN A DANGEROUS TWO LANE HIGHWAY NOT KNOWING MY LIGHTS WERE OUT OR KNOWING AND HAVING TO DRIVE WITH EMERGENCY BLINKERS ON. MY HONDA DEALERS HAVE ALWAYS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS ANYTHING BUT "RANDOM"/"LUCK OF THE DRAW." THIS PROBLEM IS NOT JUST WITH 2002-2004. 2005 CRV TAILGATE AJAR LIGHT ILLUMINATES WHEN ON ROUGH SURFACES OR ON THE HIGHWAY. *TS THE LIGHT INDICATED THAT THE DOOR MAY BE OPEN. SOMETIMES IT WAS A FALSE ALARM, BUT IN SOME CASES THE DOOR WAS NOT CLOSED SECURELY. *JB
VEHICLE PULLS TO RIGHT ALL THE TIME. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS A TSB FOR THIS ISSUE AND IT DIDN'T HELP. I HAVE SINCE DRIVEN TWO OTHER 2005 HONDA CR-V'S THEY BOTH HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS SOON AS YOU TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF THE WHEEL THE VEHICLES WILL IMMEDIATELY PULL TO THE RIGHT. WE BOUGHT THE 2005 CRV SE IN AUGUST 2005, NOTICED THE PTTR WHEN WE BOUGHT IT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY KNEW ABOUT IT AND WERE GOING TO REPLACE THE TIRES. AFTER 6 VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP(REPLACING TIRES, SWITCHING WHEELS, ALIGNING, ALIGNING, ALIGNING, ETC.)THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. 1) NOTICED A PULL TO THE RIGHT AFTER 6-8 MONTHS OF USE. 2) IS WEARING MY TIRES AND CAN NOT LET GO OF THE WHEEL FOR ANY AMOUNT OF TIME FOR FEAR I WILL DRIFT IN ANOTHER LANE. 3) HAVE HAD HONDA DEALER BALANCE TIRES, ROTATE, AND HAD 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THEY BLAME IT ON TORQUE STEERING AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT.
SINCE MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A 2005 CRV EX 3 WEEKS AGO IT HAS SPENT MORE TIME AT THE DEALERS THEN WITH US. THE FIRST PROBLEM WAS A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND A PULL TO THE RIGHT. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND THE DEALER STATED THE WHEELS WERE OUT OF BALANCE. PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AND IT CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME. THE VEHICLE WENT IN A SECOND TIME AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THEIR BALANCING MACHINE WAS INCORRECTLY CALIBRATED; THEN CHANGED ONE TIRE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CAR MEETS HONDA "SPECS". PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND IT CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN A THIRD TIME. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER, AMERICA HONDA, PLACED THE STRUTS ON INCORRECTLY AND FIXED IT. PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AND IT NO LONGER PULLED TO THE RIGHT , HOWEVER THE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WAS STILL THERE. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN A FOURTH TIME , WENT FOR A TEST DRIVE WITH A TECHNICIAN AND HE STATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH A VIBRATION AT 45 , 50 AND BETWEEN 60-70 MPH. THE DEALER THEN TEST DROVE 3 OTHER CR-V'S FROM THE LOT THEN STATED THAT THEY WERE AS BAD OR WORST THEN MINE. THE HEAD SUPERVISOR CONTACTED AMERICA HONDA AND GAVE THEM THE DETAILS. THEIR REPLY " SINCE ALL THE VEHICLES DO THAT IT MUST BE A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE." THE DEALER ADMITTED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM BUT SINCE AMERICA HONDA DID NOT RECONIZE IT THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING A CLAIM UNDER THE FLORIDA LEMON LAW. AMERICA HONDA NEEDS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT THEY ARE PRODUCING. *JB
WITH ONLY 6900 MILES ON OUR 2005 CRV ONE OF THE BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/T 684 FRONT TIRES BLEW WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH IN HER EMPLOYERS PARKING LOT. THE TIRE PRESSURE HAD JUST BEEN CHECKED TWO DAYS BEFORE THE BLOWOUT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY WIFE SUSTAINED A BROKEN NECK, CONCUSSION, HEAD TRAUMA AND A FACIAL LACERATION WHICH REQUIRED A PLASTIC SURGEON. JB
IN AUGUST 2005 MY WIFE HAD A BLOWOUT IN OUR 6 MONTH OLD HONDA CRV WITH 6,000 MILES ON IT. SHE WAS TRAVELING AT 10 MPH IN HER EMPLOYERS PARKING LOT WHEN THE LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW LEAVING HER WITH A BROKEN NECK, CONCUSSION AND A FACIAL LACERATION. NEW HONDA 2005 CRV LX AWD. VEHICLE DRIFTED TO RIGHT OF ROAD AND PULLS TO THE RIGHT WITH ACCELERATION, MORE ACCELERATION = HARDER PULL. IT IS BAD. HONDA DEALER PERFORMED 2 TSBS TO CORRECT (TIRE CHANGE OUT AND UPPER SPRING SEAL ANGLE) BUT NEITHER FIXED PROBLEM (THEY ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM STILL AND ARE WAITING FOR HONDA ENGINEERING TO CALL THEM. THEY ALSO CHECKED 2 OTHER CRVS ON THEIR LOT AND BOTH HAD THE SAME PROBLEM) THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE -- IMAGINE CRUISE ON, UP A HILL AND THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFS FROM 5TH TO 3RD TO REGAIN SPEED, PULLING, CAUSING THE UN-ALERT DRIVER TO CHANGE LANES/OFF-ROAD, OR TO OVER COMPENSATE ONE-HANDED.

I HAVE A HONDA CR-V EX PURCHASED 4/14/2005. IT HAS PULLED HARD TO THE RIGHT, ESPECIALLY DURING ACCELERATION, SINCE THE FIRST DAY. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES TO HAVE THE PROBLEM CORRECTED AND THEY HAVE FAILED TO DO SO. ON A FLAT ASPHALT SURFACE (NO TILT OR CROWNING) WHEN I PUSH THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE MOVES TO A 45-DEGREE ANGLE AND HALFWAY INTO THE NEXT LANE IN THE RIGHT AFTER JUST 20 FEET. AFTER BRIEFLY DRIVING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED A SEVERE PULL TO THE RIGHT (LATER FOUND OUT THIS IS CALLED TS (TORQUE STEER) DURING ACCELERATION FROM A STOP UP TO SIXTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR. IN LESS THAN THREE SECONDS THE CAR WAS TWO LANES TO THE RIGHT (SAFETY HAZARD). I DROVE THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT WITH THE GRADE TO THE LEFT AND THE VEHICLE STILL PULLED UPHILL TO THE RIGHT (SO MUCH FOR ROAD CROWN PULL). ON 7/26 SPREEN HONDA OF LOMA LINDA, CA, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, HAD IT ALIGNED BY THE SATURN DEALERSHIP (OWNED BY SPREEN OWNER) WITH NO APPRECIABLE DIFFERENCE. ON 7/28-7/29 SPREEN HAD PREUTT''S WHEEL ALIGNMENT OF REDLANDS DO A SECOND ALIGNMENT WITH NO APPRECIABLE DIFFERENCE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO PULL TO THE RIGHT. SPREEN SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, I WAS THE ONLY PERSON THAT HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT IT, TO THEIR KNOWLEDGE, THAT THE PULLING TO THE RIGHT WAS INHERENT IN ALL FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES (WAS NOT A PROBLEM IN MY 1999 CR-V), THAT THEY HAD NO FURTHER COMMITMENT AND I SHOULD TALK TO AMERICAN HONDA. I THINK NHTSA SHOULD ENFORCE THE REPAIR OF THIS DEFECT AND HONDA SHOULD MITIGATE THIS DEFECT OR RECALL ALL OF ITS AFFECTED VEHICLES IMMEDIATELY. *JB
DAUGHTER DRIVING 2005 HONDA CR-V WITH ABOUT 1050 MILES AT ABOUT 70 MPH ON EXPRESSWAY. RIGHT REAR TIRE SUDDENLY LOST PRESSURE CAUSING ABRUPT VEHICLE DECELERATION. TIRE IS A BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/T 684, OEM. ALTHOUGH SHE GOT OFF ROAD IMMEDIATELY, THE OUTSIDE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY SEPARATED AROUND THE PERIMETER, WITH SOME AREAS LOOKING ALMOST LIKE A CLEAN KNIFE CUT. TIRE PRESSURE HAD BEEN CHECKED THAT MORNING. THE RIM WAS UNDAMAGED, AND THE INSIDE WALL OF THE TIRE HAD NO DAMAGE. NO NAILS WERE FOUND IN THE TIRE, AND BOTH BEADS WERE STILL SEATED ON THE RIM. LUCKY IT WAS THE REAR TIRE.

THE HONDA CRV'S HAVE BEEN PRONE TO CATCHING FIRE AFTER OIL CHANGES AND HE HAS SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THIS PROBLEM ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE FOR THE 2003 AND 2004. HE HAD HIS OIL CHANGED ON 6-21-05 AND HIS VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE ON 6-23-05. WHILE DRIVING HE STOPPED AND LOOKED BACK AND HE SAW A TRAIL OF FUEL FOR ABOUT 100 YARDS AND 1FT AND HALF WIDE UNTIL THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE FIRE OCCURRED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE WAS FIRST NOTICED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE WAS NO UNUSUAL ACTIVITY NOTICED BEFORE THE FIRE STARTED. HE THINKS THIS MIGHT HAVE BEEN A FUEL FIRE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE DEPARTMENT SUSPECTED THE SAME TYPE OF FIRE. *JB
FIRST OIL CHANGE AT DEALERSHIP ON MY 2005 HONDA CRV AT 3500 MILES. FLAMES BURSTING OUT THE FOLLOWING DAY, WITH OIL SPRAYING ALL OVER. NO INJURIES. TOWED TO DEALER TO FIX. OXYGEN SENSORS NEEDED REPLACING. APPARENTLY, THIS DEFECT HAS BEEN KNOWN ABOUT FOR A COUPLE YEARS, BUT DEALER STILL FLUBBED THE OIL CHANGE.

TOOK SALESPERSON'S WORD THAT IT WASN'T A PROBLEM; DROVE OFF THE LOT AND THE CAR WANTED TO CENTER OR CASTER ABOUT 5 DEGREES TO RIGHT OF CENTER; IT'S ACUTALLY HARDER TO STEER LEFT THAN TO STEER RIGHT. BARE MINIMUM FOOT ON GAS PEDAL ALSO CAUSES THE STEERING WHEEL TO POINT RIGHT BY THIS AMOUNT THOUGH THE PTTR HAPPENS AT COASTING AS WELL. ALIGNMENT PERFORMED BY MARTIN HONDA, NEWARK DE TWO DAYS AFTER TAKING DELIVERY. STATED TOE ALIGNMENT OFF, SWAPPED TIRES, AND SAY THAT SOME STEER ERROR IS NORMAL DUE TO CROWNED ROAD. AMAZING, SINCE THE PROBLEM IS EXPERIENCED EVERY BIT AS MUCH ON THE MAJORITY OF ROADS IN MY AREA, WHICH AS IT HAPPENS ARE NOT CROWNED AT ALL. DROVE THE CAR IN A LONG PARKING LOT BOTH DIRECTIONS IN A LINE, IN WHICH CASE I SHOULD HAVE SEEN "CROWN PULL" (IF ANY) HAPPEN DOWNHILL IF AN INCLINE EXISTED. ALAS, THE PULL WAS ALWAYS TO THE RIGHT WHILE GOING IN EITHER DIRECTION. DISCOVERED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TSB # 03-004 WHICH ADDRESSES THIS SYMPTOM IN ONLY CERTAIN 2002 AND 2003 MODELS. RECOMMEND THAT IN THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC SAFETY, THAT NHTSA CONSIDER ENFORCING THIS REPAIR OR SIMILAR, AS APPROPRIATE, TO ANY HONDA CR-V OF ANY YEAR THAT EXHIBITS THIS PHOMENON, AND THAT CONSUMERS AVOID PURCHASING A HONDA CR-V.
THE REAR INTERIOR WELL COVER IS A PULL OUT 17LB PLASTIC TABLE. IT HAS A 'D' RING LATCH THAT IS HELD TO THE TABLE WITH 6 SCREWS. WHEN YOU PULL UP ON THE 'D' RING LATCH YOU GET A HANDLE TO PULL THE TABLE UP AND OUT. WHEN PULLING UP ON THE 'D' RING IT PULLS A PLUNGER OUT OF A SLOT IS THE BACK OF THE BULKHEAD OF THE FRAME GIVING YOU THE APPEARANCE THAT THE TABLE IS LOCKED DOWN. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THERE ARE NOTHING ELSE HOLDING THE TABLE DOWN ON THE OTHER THREE SIDES. IT APPEARS THAT THE SIDE OPPOSITE THE LATCH SHOULD HAVE A SLOT OR MAYBE TWO STRAPS ACROSS THE REAR CORNERS FOR THE TABLE TO SLIDE INTO. APPEARS HONDA OVERLOOKED THIS SINCE THEY MADE THE LIFTING 'D' RING ALSO A LATCH. AS DESIGNED HOWEVER THE COVER IS NOT LATCHED DOWN. JUST HOPE NO ONE TURNS THE CR-V OVER AND AFTER THE AIR BAG SAVES THEM HAVE A 17 LB TABLE CUT THEIR HEAD OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CRV. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE, THE REAR BRAKE WOULD LOCK, CAUSING THE CALIPERS AND ROTORS TO OVERHEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE EXACT CAUSE FOR THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACED THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE REAR BRAKE CONTINUED TO LOCK WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
MY HONDA 2005 CR-V EX HAS A PROBLEM WITH PULL TO THE RIGHT (PTTR) FROM DAY ONE (MAY 31, 2005). THE FASTER I DRIVE, THE HARDER IT PULLS. IT DOESN'T MATTER OF I ACCELERATE OR DRIVE AT A STEADY SPEED, THE PTTR IS THERE. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN I DROVE AT 70 MPH ON I-10, WHICH IS A 4-LANE ROAD, 2 LANES ON EACH DIRECTION (NORTH OF TALLAHASSEE), I WAS ON THE LEFT LANE, THEN TOOK MY HANDS OFF THE STEERING WHEEL. IT STARTED TO DRIFT TO THE RIGHT AFTER TWO SECONDS. AND THEN BETWEEN 2 TO 3 SECONDS LATER, MY V WAS ON THE RIGHT LANE. I HAD TO GRAB THE WHEEL AND PULLED IT STRAIGHT BACK TO THE ROAD OTHERWISE IT WOULD GO INTO A DITCH OR HIT A TREE. DID THE SAME TEST AS ABOVE, EXCEPT I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL (LET THE V CRUISE ON ITS INERTIA) AT THE SAME TIME I TOOK MY HANDS OFF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE PTTR REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY, AFTER 7-8 SECONDS IT STARTED TO DRIFT TO THE RIGHT. THIS IS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED NORMAL. 3 TRIPS TO HONDA DEALER IN TALLAHASSEE BUT THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. ON THE FOURTH TRIP, THEY SAID THERE IS NO PTTR. I INSISTED THE PROBLEM DID NOT GO AWAY, AND THEY SAID THEY TRIED EVERYTHING (SWAP FRONT TIRES, ALIGNMENT, TSB, SUB FRAME) WITHIN ALIGNMENT AND NOTHING THEY CAN DO ANY MORE. THEY ADMITTED THERE WAS PTTR THE FIRST TIME I BROUGHT IT IN, BUT NOW THEY SAID IT IS NORMAL. I CHECKED IN CR-V FORUMS OF EDMUNDS.COM (AND SOME OTHER SITE) AND I FOUND THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, AND OTHER PEOPLE DON'T HAVE. ONE VEHICLE EVEN HAD 2 FRONT SUSPENSION REPLACED FROM AN UNAFFECTED CR-V TO GET THE PROBLEM SOLVED. HONDA DID ISSUED A TSB FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT IT DID NOT FIX IT, OR JUST TEMPORALLY FIXED FOR A FEW MONTHS (ACCORDING TO SOME PEOPLE IN THE FORUMS). I THINK THIS IS A DEFECT AND IT HAS A DANGEROUS POTENTIAL TO LEAD TO A CRASH. IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED THOROUGHLY TO COME UP WITH A REAL FIX. NICK NGUYEN

VIBRATION AT HIGH SPEEDS IS GONE BUT THE PTTR PROBLEM IS STILL PRESENT. I SHOWED THE DEALER THE TSB FROM HONDA, IT SEEMS THAT THEY IMPLEMENTED BUT PROBLEM PERSISTS. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND THE VEHICLE RECALLED.
