2005 HONDA CRV-SE: I REPLACED DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP IN 2008. IN 40 YEARS OF DRIVING, I'VE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A HEADLAMP IN ANY CAR I'VE OWNED. (I BUY A NEW CAR EVERY 10 YEARS, AND I'VE OWNED CADILLAC, VOLKSWAGEN, MAZDA, AND PONTIAC PRIOR TO HONDA.) MY HONDA ALSO HAS A BURNED OUT DASH LIGHT AND I'VE REPLACED THE DOME LIGHT. *TR
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN BLOWING ON A REGULAR BASIS SINCE OCT. 2008. THEY LAST ANYWHERE FROM A FEW WEEKS TO A COUPLE YEARS EACH. BOTH SIDES ARE AFFECTED BY THIS. HAVE HAD A LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACE EACH TIME. I DIDN'T REALIZE THIS WAS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH HONDA UNTIL RESEARCHING IT TODAY. RECALLS ARE IN PLACE STARTING WITH THE '06 MODEL. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMMENTS FROM OTHER '05 OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE COSTLY SOLUTION OFFERED TO THEM. THE '05 CR-VS NEED TO BE ADDED TO THIS RECALL. *TR
THIS IS A PROBLEM IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL SYSTEM IN HONDA CRV 4-WHEEL DRIVE MODEL MADE BETWEEN 2002 AND 2007. AFTER ABOUT EVERY ONE AND A HALF YEARS, THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID BECOMES SO MUCH CONTAMINATED THAT THE WHOLE VEHICLE STARTS TO SHAKE. ACCORDING TO THE VEHICLE'S OWNER MANUAL, THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID ONLY NEEDS TO BE CHANGED EVERY 5 YEARS OR 90,000 MILES. OBVIOUSLY THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID BECOMES DIRTY TOO SOON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IT IS DIFFICULT TO MAKE A TURN. I CONSIDER IT UNSAFE. AS I KNOW, IT IS THE PROBLEM TO ALL VEHICLES OF THE SAME MODEL NOT ONLY MY CAR. SO I THINK IT IS A DESIGN PROBLEM. IN MY CASE, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL SYSTEM HAD TO BE REFLUSHED THREE TIMES AND THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CLUTCHES HAD TO BE BURNISH AS WELL. LUCKILY, NO INJURY SO FAR. *TR
2006 HONDA CRV CONSUMER FOUND AN ENGINE OIL LEAK. *BF THE VALVE COVER GASKET WAS LEAKING. OIL WAS FOUND LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE AREA FOR THE SECOND TIME 5 MONTHS LATER. THE ENGINE VALVE ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. *JB
I BROUGHT MY HONDA CRV IN SEPT. 2005. IT WORKED FINE. BUT SINCE 2008 SUMMER, I OFTEN BE PULLED OFF BY POLICE BECAUSE THE LEFT FRONT LIGHT IS OFF. I FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS SIMPLE, JUST GO TO LOCAL GAS STATION TO CHANGE A LIGHT BULB. AFTER I CHANGED THE LEFT FRONT LIGHT 3 TIMES, IN FEB 2011 I WAS PULLED OFF BY POLICE AGAIN, I REALIZED THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. I WENT TO HONDA, THEY SAID IT WAS SOMETHING COMPUTER RELATED WRONG. JUST FOR FIX THIS I PAID MORE THAN $200. AND 1 WEEK AFTER, MY FRIEND TOLD ME MY RIGHT SIDE FRONT LIGHT WAS OFF. I HAD TO CHANGE IT AGAIN. WONDERING DOES EVERY CRV OWNER HAS CHANGE HIS OR HER FRONT LIGHT BULBS AS OFTEN AS ME. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS! AS A DRIVER SOMETIMES YOU CAN NOT KNOW YOUR FRONT LIGHT BULB IS OFF RIGHT AWAY. *TR
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
WHILE I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO MY SUBDIVISION, BOTH OF MY SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS WENT OFF. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THIS WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN, NO DAMAGE TO THE CAR, NO CHANGE IN DRIVING CIRCUMSTANCES THAT WOULD OBVIOUSLY TRIGGER THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE 100 YARDS HOME. I SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES INCLUDING AIR BAG BURN TO LEFT UPPER ARM AND TEMPORARY LOSS OF HEARING TO THE LEFT EAR. I SUBSEQUENTLY DEVELOPED A HEADACHE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE MANUFACTURER TO HAVE THE CAR EVALUATED BY A DEALERSHIP, BUT THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF TOWING AT THIS TIME. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CRV. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK IN THE HEAD CASKET. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, ANOTHER OIL LEAK WAS FOUND NEAR THE ZE CH ACTUATOR CASKET A FEW MONTHS LATER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE OIL PRESSURE REGULATOR. THE FAILURE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED AND NOW IT IS EASY TO OBSERVE IF THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED CORRECTLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,524 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,003.
MY 2005 CR-V HAD THE "BLACK DEATH" ISSUE LAST MAY OF 08. THAT SEEMED ODD ENOUGH TO ME THAT A COMPRESSOR WOULD GO THAT SOON IN SUCH A "RELIABLE" CAR. MY WHOLE FAMILY OWNS HONDAS. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD COST 3200 TO FIX IT. THAT MY COMPRESSOR "EXPLODED" (LOL, I AM NOT AN IDIOT, UNFORTUNATELY FOR HIM). I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO MY PERSONAL MECHANIC, WHO SHOWED ME THE LOCKED SPRINGS INSIDE THE COMPRESSOR, AND SAID IT WAS INDEED "ODD" TO SEE AN AC FAILURE THAT SOON. AFTER HE FIXED IT UP FOR 1300. I GOT A CALL FROM THE HONDA SERVICEMAN OFFERING TO MAYBE "WORK SOMETHING OUT". WELL, WITH A SMALL CHILD. I COULD NOT AFFORD TO BARGAIN FOR AC IN MAY IN SOUTH FLORIDA, SO HE WAS A TAD TOO LATE. I DID NOT KNOW, UNTIL MY COMPRESSOR WENT OUT AGAIN TODAY, THAT THERE WAS THIS ISSUE AND WAS KNOWN. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA AMERICA, WHO WERE NO HELP AT ALL, AND THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE ME 105.00 TO DIAGNOSE IT, AND I WOULD NOT BE CHARGED IF I FIXED IT THERE. HMMM. HONDA AMERICA SAYS THEY WILL ONLY TAKE ESTIMATES FROM HONDA DEALERS AND NOT OTHER STATE LICENSED MECHANIC. SOUNDS VERY FISHY TO ME!! I AM NOW OUT AC (DRIVING 40 MILES TO WORK AT THE TAIL END OF THE FLU), AND WHO KNOWS HOW MUCH MONEY NEXT. THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO PAY FOR IT ALL THEY SAID ALREADY, AND THEY HADN'T EVEN GOTTEN A QUOTE. I FEEL LIKE I NEED TO DO SOMETHING! I AM SO ANGERED THAT THEY WOULD JUST BRUSH IT UNDER THE RUG LIKE THAT. THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE OUT HERE THAT HAVE THE SAME TROUBLE. I HAVE SIGNED THE LAWSUIT PETITION, BUT NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT. I KNOW IT'S OCTOBER, BUT IT'S HOT HERE IN FL!!! ANY IDEAS?? AT THIS POINT, I AM DEFINITELY NOT BUYING ANOTHER HONDA!!!! NEVER THOUGHT I'D SAY THAT, BUT I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE THIS THING EVERY YEAR, AND NEITHER SHOULD I!! *TR
MY 2006 HONDA CRV SUV CONTINUALLY HAS STARTER SWITCH PROBLEMS. IT BUZZES LOUDLY UPON STARTING THE ENGINE. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE CONTACTS ARE SHORTING OUT. MY FRIENDS WHO HAVE HONDAS OF THE SAME YEAR, BUT HAVE A DIFFERENT MODELS DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM.*TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CRV. THE VEHICLE HAS BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/T 684 II, SIZE P245/70R16 TIRES. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING SOUND AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN DRIVING ROUGHLY. HE STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE TIRE TREAD CAME OFF AND WAS ROLLING ACROSS THE ROAD. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ARRIVED TO REPLACE THE TIRES. EIGHT MONTHS EARLIER, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED, BUT NO ONE INFORMED HIM OF ANY TIRE FAILURE. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, NUMBER OF CYLINDERS, DOT NUMBER, AND POWERTRAIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
A BOLT CAME LOOSE AND FELL OFF ON THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL CAUSING THE TIRE TO BREAK FREE AND GO SIDEWAYS. *TR
I HAVE REPLACED BOTH THE HIGH BEAM AND LOW BEAM BULBS A TOTAL OF 17 TIMES. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE HONDA CR-V'S WITH NO RESOLUTION. HONDA USES A UNIQUE CONNECTION AT THE BULB WHICH I BELIEVE MAY BE THE CULPRIT. *TR
OWN A 2005 CR-V EX AWD. I TO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE CR-V REAR DIFFERENTIAL CONTAMINATION PROBLEM. HOWLING NOISE WHILE TURNING BECAME EVIDENT FROM THE BACK END DURING THE WINTER OF 07-08 AND APPROXIMATELY 25000 MILES. DEALER DETERMINED THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID WAS CONTAMINATED AND FLUSHED/REPLACED THE FLUID AND PERFORMED A CLUTCH BURNISHING PROCEDURE...FORTUNATELY UNDER A GOODWILL WARRANTY PER A TSB. NO PROBLEMS SINCE BUT BASED ON OTHER COMPLAINTS I FEAR IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME. REAR DIFFERENTIAL CONTAMINATION APPEARS TO BE A REAL PROBLEM WITH THIS CR-V VERSION (02-08) WHICH HONDA REALLY NEEDS TO ADDRESS. *TR
AT 17,000 MILES ON MY 2005 HONDA CR-V I NOTICED NOISE WHEN I MADE SHARP TURNS TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. THE DEALER COULD NOT DIAGNOSE. ANY PROBLEM. HE THOUGHT IT WAS FROM TURNING ON THE PAINTED STRIPES ON ASPHALT PARKING LOTS!!!!!!!!! AT 17,684 MILES THE NOISE SOUNDED LIKE BROKEN DISHES RATTLING IN THE REAR OF THE CAR. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND SIMILAR DESCRIPTIONS ON WEBSITES RELATED TO HONDA CR-V ISSUES. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER. DEALER FINALLY DIAGNOSED REAR DIFFERENTIAL PROBLEM. THEY PERFORMED REAR DIFF. SERVICE, BURNISHED CLUTCHES IN REAR DIFF AND DRAINED AND REFILLED FLUID. PROBLEM SOLVED! THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY, SO NO CHARGE. WHY DON'T DEALERS KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM? *TR
THREE YEARS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE, AT 28486 MILES, MY HONDA CRV WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. I MENTIONED NOISE WHEN MAKING TURNS IF THE CAR WAS COLD. THE DEALER SAID THE CAR NEEDED THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID REPLACED AND THE DIFFERENTIAL CLUTCHES BURNISHED, (AS PER BULLETIN). MY MAINTENANCE MANUAL RECOMMENDS THIS AT 5 YEARS OR 90,000 MILES. I READ THAT OTHER DRIVERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS NOT CHARGED, BECAUSE THE CAR HAD 5 DAYS LEFT ON THE INITIAL WARRANTY. I ASSUME THIS IS SOME KIND OF MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *TR

SHE DID NOT REALIZE AT THE TIME THAT THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE END OF WARRANTY. WHEN THE SRS LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN AND REMAINED LIT, THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER A THIRD TIME AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V526000 (AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW) WAS REFERENCED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,749 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000. UPDATED 06/02/08 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGES SPEAKING WITH THEM IN REFERENCE TO THE SRS SYSTEM POPPING ON AT TIMES IN JANUARY AND PAYING TO DIAGNOSE VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP. THE SRS (SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEM) WARNING LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2005 HONDA CRV WITH LESS THAN 18,000 MILES ON IT. THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THE HONDA DEALER HAS PERFORMED DIAGNOSTIC TESTS THAT INDICATE THAT NOTHING IS WRONG AND THE AIR BAGS SHOULD DEPLOY AND SEAT BELTS SHOULD WORK IN AN ACCIDENT. WHO DO I BELIEVE -- THE WARNING LIGHT OR THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. I DON'T LIKE DRIVING A CAR THAT HAS A WARNING LIGHT INDICATING SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH A SAFETY SYSTEM. *TR
WE PURCHASED A 2005 HONDA CRV IN JULY OF 2005, WHICH CAME WITH BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/T 684 215/65R16 98T TIRES. DEALERSHIP HAS INSPECTED THE CAR EVERY YR. SINCE THEN. AT INSPECTION IN SEPT. OF 2007, THERE WERE 13,180 MILES ON THE 2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH THE ORIGINAL TIRES. NO PROBLEM INDICATED BY SERVICEMAN WITH TIRES AT THAT TIME. OVER CHRISTMAS OF 2007, 3 MOS. LATER, MY DAUGHTER AND HER HUSBAND SAT IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE VEHICLE, AND NOTICED A LOUD NOISE FROM THE AREA OF THE TIRES. NEXT DAY HUSBAND TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECKED OUT. INSTEAD, DEALER SET APPT. FOR TUES. JAN. 8, 2007. IN BETWEEN THOSE 2 TIMES, VEHICLE HAD AN OIL CHANGE AT JIFFY LUBE. THE SERVICEMAN AT THE JIF. LUBE STATED FRONT TIRES WERE WORN AND NEEDED IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT--INTERESTING SINCE ALL OTHER DEALERSHIP OIL CHANGES PERFORMED MENTIONED NO TIRE WEAR. AT THE APPT. ON JAN.8, 2008 [VALLEY HONDA, 4221 WILLIAM PENN HIGHWAY, MONROEVILLE, PA 15146--PH:412-373-3000] A MECHANIC INSPECTED THE TIRES ON VEHICLE, WHICH NOW HAD 15,730 MILES ON THEM, THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THE STEEL BELTS INSIDE OF THE BACK TIRES WERE BROKEN! HE ASKED ABOUT THE USE OF THE VEHICLE FOR VARIOUS PURPOSES TO WHICH I RESPONDED NO ON ALL ACCOUNTS. IN ADDITION, IF WE HAD HIT A HOLE HARD ENOUGH TO BREAK THE STEEL BELTS IN BOTH OF THE BACK TIRES, ONE WOULD THINK THE CAR WOULD BE OUT OF ALIGNMENT, WHICH IT IS NOT. NO EXPLANATION FROM THE DEALERSHIP AS TO WHY THE FRONT TIRES WERE SO BADLY WORN AND NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE WEAR ON THE FRONT TIRES WAS NEVER NOTICED BY THEIR SERVICEMEN. THE DEALERSHIP STATED "THERE IS NO WARRANTY ON THOSE TIRES" BUT, OFFERED TO SELL US 4 BRAND NEW YAMAHA TIRES AT $89.41 + $13.50 FOR INSTALLATION PER TIRE, PLUS TAX, PLUS A FEE TO DISPOSE OF THE OLD TIRES. SO FAR THESE TIRES HAVE NOT FAILED, BUT WE ARE SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON THE PARKWAY, TURNPIKE, FREEWAY, OR ANY HIGH SPEED ROAD FOR FEAR OF A TIRE FAILURE THAT MIGHT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT & INJURY. *TR
HEADLIGHTS FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS CONTINUE TO GO OUT. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE BULBS ONCE OR TWICE PR YEAR.
WHEN DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED WHEN MAKING TURNS, THE 2005 HONDA CRV GRINDS OR CHATTERS DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL (ACCORDING TO THE DEALER HERE IN BLACKSBURG,VA). I WAS TOLD A SERVICE BULLETIN EXISTS FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND IT. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $150 TO FIX. MY VEHICLE HAS 40,000M ON IT. *TR
SINCE 12/9/2007, I HAVE HAD 22 LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT H1 BULBS BURN OUT. I HAVE READ POSTS BY HUNDREDS OF OTHER 2005 HONDA CR-V OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE HEADLIGHTS BURNING OUT. I SEE THAT HONDA HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE 2002-2004 HONDA CR-V FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT THE 2005 AND 2006 MODELS SHOULD ALSO BE CORRECTED.
2005 HONDA CR-V. REAR DIFFERENTIAL. MANUAL STATES REPLACE RD FLUID EVERY 90K, BUT DEALER CONTINUES TO CLAIM MUST BE DONE EVERY 10K. WHO TO BELIEVE? NOT SURE OF THE CONSEQUENCES. MY COMPLAINT TO THE DEALER WAS FRONT END NOISE ON HARD TURNS AND THAT WAS THEIR DIAGNOSIS. HOW COULD THE FLUID BREAK DOWN THAT SOON? NONE OF MY PREVIOUS VEHICLES EVER HAD THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CONTACT STRUCK A DEER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AS OF NOVEMBER 16, 2007, THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S HEAD STRUCK THE DRIVERS DOOR WINDOW, WHICH CAUSED BRUISES TO HER STOMACH, HEAD, AND CHEEKBONE. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 23,500. 2005 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL NOTICE CONCERNING POWER WINDOWS. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ON OCTOBER 19, 2007, HE HEARD A POP, AND THE WINDOW FAILED. DRIVING ON FREEWAY AND PULLED OFF TO EAT. WHEN I PULLED INTO TIE RESTAURANT THE CAR HANDLED FUNNY SO I CHECKED THE TIRES WHEN I GOT OUT BUT THEY SEEMED OK. I CAME OUT FROM EATING AND THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE WAS TOTALLY FLAT. ON INSPECTION THE SIDEWALL WAS BLOWN OUT ABOUT 2-3 INCHES IN A JAGGED PATTERN. LATER LOOKING AT THE TIRE AT HOME THERE APPEARED TO BE ANOTHER CRACK IN THE TIRE. I CALLED BRIDGESTONE TO REPLACE THE TIRE AFTER MY BRIDGESTONE DEALER STATED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRE AND IT WAS DISCONTINUED. THEY STATED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE TIRE. ALSO THEY STATED THAT THIS TIRE WAS NOT THE TIRE THAT CAME WITH THE HONDA CR-V ORIGINALLY. THEY WERE NOT EVEN ABLE TO FIND THE TIRE IN THEIR SYSTEM. I FIND THIS CURIOUS. *JB
THE BRAKE ROTOR ON MY HONDA CRV 2005 IS DEFECTIVE. IT LOOKS LIKE STEEL IS NOT CARBONATED EVENLY AND THERE A SOME PIECES THAT DO NOT WEAR OFF. I PURCHASED NEW A HONDA CRV IN JUNE, 2005. ON AUGUST 15, 2007 WITH 24,064 MILES THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $275.54 WHICH BEING UNDER WARRANTY HONDA PAID FOR. ON FEBRUARY 16, 2009 WITH 39,477 MILES AGAIN THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $342.12 WHICH THE DEALERSHIP PAID FOR AS THEY KNEW I WAS VERY UPSET. I HAVE CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT THIS EACH TIME AND ALL THEY DO IS NOTE IT ON MY RECORD. I FEEL THAT THERE HAS TO BE A PROBLEM SOMEWHERE THAT THEY AREN'T ACKNOWLEDGING OR DON'T CARE TO. I HAVE A 2005 HONDA CRV PURCHASED NEW FROM JEFF WYLER HONDA IN FLORENCE, KY. TWICE NOW, MY IGNITION HAS SIMPLY SHUT ITSELF OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. ONCE THIS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY (IN 2006) AND AGAIN THIS WEEK (2007) ON A BUSY ROAD. WHEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF, THE GREEN KEY ICON IN THE DASH FLASHES. LUCKILY BOTH TIMES I WAS ABLE TO COAST OUT OF TRAFFIC, SHIFT INTO PARK AND RESTART. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RESTART IMMEDIATELY, BUT IT'S A REALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING 65 MPH AND YOUR CAR SHUTS ITSELF OFF. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I HAD ABOUT 40,000 MILES ON THE CAR. NOW I HAVE NEARLY 60,000. OTHERWISE, THE CRV IS IN PERFECT CONDITION. I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON HONDA CRV IGNITION SWITCHES IN 2002, AND THE DESCRIPTION SOUNDED IDENTICAL TO THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING. I THINK THAT THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM YET. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE A YEAR AGO, BUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY SUSPECTED IT WAS CELL PHONE INTERFERENCE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. HEADLIGHT BULBS FAIL FREQUENTLY (ANYWHERE FROM APPROXIMATELY 3-6 MONTHS) FOR NO APPARENT REASON. USUALLY ONE SIDE AT A TIME. NORMALLY, REPLACING THE BULB HAS BEEN AN EFFECTIVE (IF EXPENSIVE) SOLUTION. HOWEVER, MOST RECENTLY, REPLACING THE BULB DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. FUSES ARE ALL O.K. FROM SEVERAL ON-LINE FORUMS, THIS IS A VERY WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM. THERE IS CURRENTLY AN OUTSTANDING RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR MODEL YEARS 2002-2004 (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V136000). FROM MY RESEARCH, THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE AT LEAST AS PREVALENT (IF NOT MORE SO) IN THE 2005 AND 2006 MODEL YEARS. PLEASE EXPAND THE RECALL TO INCLUDE THOSE MODEL YEARS AND FORCE HONDA TO OWN UP TO WHAT APPEARS TO BE A POOR DESIGN ISSUE. THE CAR WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP CT AND THEY FOUND OUT THAT IT NEEDED A NEW YAW SENSOR. SINCE I HAVE HAD IT BACK FIXED IT HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE. I SUGGEST THAT ANYONE WHO HAS THESE ISSUES CALL YOUR DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM RUN THE COMPUTER DIAG. TEST ON THE CAR. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE CT DEALERSHIP SAID THAT SOME OF THE EARLIER '05'S NEEDED NEW MODULARS, TO FIX THIS PROBLEM... *NM
THE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATES THE REAR HATCH IS OPEN. THE LIGHT BLINKS INTERMITTENTLY EVEN THOUGH THE GLASS HATCH AND THE REAR CARGO DOOR ARE CLOSED. AT TIMES THE FAULTY SENSOR INDICATES THE DOOR IS NOT CLOSED NOT ALLOWING REMOTE DOOR LOCK. MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER HAS REPEATEDLY TRIED (AND FAILED) TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *NM

THE POSITION OF THE TURN SIGNAL AT THE TOP OF THE HONDA CR-V AND THE CLEAR LENS HAS RESULTED IN ME BEING HIT 3 TIMES IN THE REAR IN THE 1 1/2 YEARS I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE. THE LAST INCIDENT, THE PERSON WHO HIT ME INSISTED THAT I DID NOT HAVE MY TURN SIGNAL ON EVEN WHEN HE STOOD BEHIND THE VEHICLE AND LOOKED AT IT -- IT WAS ONLY WHEN PEDESTRIANS TOLD HIM THAT THE SIGNAL WAS ON DID HE FINALLY REALIZE THAT HE JUST HAD A HARD TIME SEEING IT. THE FIRST INCIDENT THE WOMAN SAID SHE DIDN'T SEE THE TURN SIGNAL. IN ALL 3 CASES, THE ACCIDENTS OCCURRED ON A SUNNY DAY. I AM CONSTANTLY BEING SWORN AT AND YELLED AT TO TURN ON MY TURN SIGNAL AND I GET OUT AND LOOK AND IT IS INDEED ON. THE POSITION OF THE SIGNAL AT THE VERY TOP OF THE VEHICLE IS HIGHER THAN ANY OTHER VEHICLE ON THE ROAD -- NOT IN A POSITION THAT PEOPLE ROUTINELY LOOK FOR A TURN SIGNAL. IN ADDITION, THE CLEAR LENS MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE THE TURN SIGNAL ON SUNNY DAYS-- I HAVE PURPOSELY DRIVEN BEHIND 2005 CR-VS (THE ONLY YEAR THAT HONDA HAD CLEAR LENS ON THE TURN SIGNALS) AND CAN UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE HAVE A PROBLEM SEEING THE SIGNAL. I CALLED HONDA AND EXPRESSED MY CONCERN ABOUT MY SAFETY IN THIS CAR BECAUSE THE POSITION OF THE TURN SIGNAL SO HIGH ON THE CAR AND THE CLEAR LENS -- I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE DESIGN OF THE CR-V AND THEY GOT APPROVAL FOR THE DESIGN SO THEY WERE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING TO IMPROVE THE SAFETY. I ASKED THEM WHY THE CLEAR LENS WERE USED FOR ONLY 2005 THINKING THAT OTHER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CLEAR LENS SO THEY SWITCHED BACK TO THE YELLOW LENS IN 2006 BUT THEY DENIED THIS. THEY EVEN REFUSED TO SWITCH OUT THE CLEAR LENS FOR THE YELLOW LENS THAT THEY HAVE USED FOR EVERY OTHER YEAR OF THIS VEHICLE. THE LAST TIME I HAD THE BULB REPLACED THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT THE NEW BULB WOULDN'T EVEN STAY LIT WHEN HE REPLACED IT. THERE ARE OTHER MODEL YEARS FOR THIS CAR WHICH HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS LOW BEAM BULB ISSUE. IT IS TIME FOR HONDA TO RECALL THIS MODEL YEAR AND FIX THIS PROBLEM.
