There are 11 owner-reported brakes complaints for the 2006 Honda CR-Vin NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
Vehicle brakes come on spontaneously while driving, during acceleration in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. Seems to be a part of the ABS/VSA system faulty engagement (Anti-Lock Brakes System/Vehicle Stability Assist) since the VSA warning light come on during the fault. Causes vehicle to brake, jerk and buck in middle of road. Almost got rear-ended on several occasions. Car stalls in middle of roadway. Disfunctional safety system failing to work properly. Intermittent problem that has occurred several time in the past year. Local dealer was "not able" to diagnose the problem despite inspection and problem issue report.
there was no accident yet!!!!The vsa and abs lights on my 2006 Cr-v came on upon starting and stayed on until the engine was stopped. This happened every time the car was started. the car ends up bucking on me. My Honda dealership diagnosed the problem to be a faulty abs modulator unit. The stated replacement cost is $2,400, including labor. I feel that this defect is essential in ensuring the overall safety of this car. The weight of the car is significant enough that an uncontrolled skid is much more likely to end in disaster than a skid that is stopped with the vsa and abs function working properly. Living in central PA, the abs and vsa functions are used frequently - especially in the winter. These key safety features were a top priority in my decision to buy this car. While the car's life expectancy is touted to be around 300,000 miles, it is unforgivable for such a significant safety function to fail at only 102,000 miles. I feel that Honda should recall these cars and replace the vsa modulator unit entirely at Honda's expense. And for those of us who have already paid for the repair - reimburse the full amount of the repair! the car without vsa and abs is not at all the same "as advertised" when sold new!.

MY ANTI LOCK BRAKES HAVE STOPPED WORKING, AND THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL DOES NOT WORK. I HAVE A 2006 CRV WITH ONLY 20,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED. HONDA TOLD ME IT IS OVER 2000 TO FIX AND IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WILL NOT BE RECALLED. THEY SUGGESTED THAT IT ISN'T A SAFETY ISSUE, AND THAT I DON'T NEED TO GET IT FIXED. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED, SINCE MY BRAKES WILL NOT WORK IN SNOW, ICE OR RAIN AND I LIVE IN WISCONSIN (WHERE THE WEATHER WILL LOCK MY BRAKES UP) THANK YOU
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED THE ABS SYSTEM WOULD LOCK, CAUSING THE STABILIZER SYSTEM TO FAIL. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE 2006. NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES UNTIL THIS YEAR WHEN THE ABS AND VSA LIGHT CAME ON. AT FIRST THERE WAS NO ISSUE BUT IT GOT TO THE POINT THAT EVEN AFTER REPLACING SEVERAL SENSORS THE LIGHTS WOULD STAY ON AND THE VEHICLE'S CRUISE CONTROL COULD NOT SET. IT ALSO HAD A LAG BETWEEN BRAKING TO WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP. FINALLY THE ENGINE SEIZED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHEN MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IT. WE REPLACED THE ENGINE TO THE TUNE OF 2000.00 AND NOW ONLY A FEW WEEKS LATER THE VSA LIGHT IS BACK ON. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS AND VSA LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ON. HE ALSO STATED THAT A TRIANGLE WITH AN EXCLAMATION POINT THAT HE WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH LIT UP AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ABS LIGHT CAUSED THE VSA AND OTHER LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE. THE ABS MODULE ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD PAY HALF OF THE REPAIR COST. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,060. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,030.
I REAR-ENDED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH I SAW IT AND USED THE BRAKE (FULL STRENGTH) FROM A REASONABLE DISTANCE. THE BRAKE WAS NOT WORKING EFFECTIVELY. DAMAGED BODY PARTS WERE REPLACED IN MAY. I HAD A HONDA DEALER TO CHECK MY BRAKE IN THE ANNUAL INSPECTION, BUT WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG FROM THEIR PERSPECTIVE. *TR
