TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VSA SENSOR ILLUMINATED AND THE ENGINE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON ONE OTHER OCCASION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER (LIA HONDA ENFIELD, 20 PALOMBA DR, ENFIELD, CT) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED EXCESSIVELY AND THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
MY AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR WENT OUT. THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS BLOWING WARM AIR NOT COOL OR COLD AT ALL. I TOOK IT INTO HONDA DEALER... IT WILL COST ME $900 TO REPLACE IT. I AM NOT TO USE IT AT ALL BECAUSE IT MIGHT IMPLODE OR EXPLODE... I WAS CALLED BY THE HONDA SALES DEPT WHEN I GOT HOME... I TOLD HIM THAT I WAS ON A FIXED INCOME AND COULD NOT AFFORD TO BUY A NEW CAR. (RETIRED). SO NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAID WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR , I CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER ONE. THEN I LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW WHERE THERE WAS A LAWSUIT FOR THE HONDA CRVS 2002 - 2004 BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. AND MANY OTHER CRV YEARS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM! NOT JUST THE 2002 -2004S. WHY DIDN'T HONDA RECALL ALL OF THE AIR COMPRESSORS... MY CAR IS ONLY 7 YRS OLD. I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS MY BAD LUCK AT FIRST UNTIL I WENT ONLINE AND SAW ALL THE COMPLAINTS REG THE COMPRESSORS! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD BANG FROM HEARD FROM UNDER THE HOOD. IN ADDITION, THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT BEGAN TO EMIT HOT AIR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPRESSOR HAD EXPLODED. THE EXPLOSION DESTROYED THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT, IN WHICH THE FULL AIR CONDITIONING UNIT AND COMPRESSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,979 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000. *TR
AIR CONDITIONER FAILURE AT 90,000. ITS TWIN, A 2005 CRV, HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AT THE SAME MILEAGE. THIS REPAIR WAS $900. THE AC HAD RECENTLY HAD A TUNEUP, AS WE WERE CONCERNED OVER IT DUE TO THE OLDER CAR HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. CHECKUP SHOWED NO ISSUES; FAILURE WAS SUDDEN. *TR
EMISSIONS LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK 2006 CRV WITH 24,000 MILES TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSTIC CAME UP BANK 1 SENSOR 1 HEAT CIRCUIT INOPERABLE (BAD FRONT O2 SENSOR-EMISSIONS). COMPLAINED. NO REASON FOR O2 SENSORS TO GO OUT WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. *TR
I HAVE HAD TWO ACCIDENTS IN MY 2006 HONDA CRV AND THE AIR BAGS HAVE NEVER GONE OFF. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM, BUT HONDA WILL NOT ADMIT TO IT. ONE ACCIDENT WAS IN JULY OF 2009, THE SECOND NOVEMBER OF 2010 I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES AT 34,000 MILES.....THEY WERE RATED FOR 60, 000..... SO FAR I'M NOT HAPPY WITH MY PURCHASE MY SECOND ISSUE IS THAT THE HEAT SHIELD HAS RUSTED OFF, AGAIN CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAY THAT IT'S A ROUTINE REPAIR. MY HONDA ONLY HAS 50, 000 MILES ON IT. ON WEDNESDAY JULY 21, 2010 AT APPROXIMATELY 1:00PM I LEFT TO PICK UP MY COUSINS FAMILY FROM PHOENIX SKY HARBOR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. DRIVING THERE THE AIR CONDITIONING ON MY 2006 HONDA CRV WAS BLOWING COLD AIR. UPON ARRIVING AT THE AIRPORT I HEADED TO THE CURBSIDE PICKUP TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND LOADED UP THE LUGGAGE. WHEN I TURNED ON THE IGNITION TO HEAD BACK HOME I NOTICED THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS NO LONGER RUNNING COLD, ONLY BLOWING HOT AIR. IN ARIZONA, THE SUMMER TIME IS EXTREMELY HOT. TODAY, JULY 27, 2010 I TOOK MY HONDA CRV TO FIRESTONE COMPLETE AUTO CARE TO HAVE AN A/C PERFORMANCE CHECK AND IT WAS DETERMINED ROAD DEBRIS (A ROCK) WENT THROUGH THE CONDENSER AND CREATED A HOLE. THE ASSOCIATE CONTACTED TOYOTA (PURCHASED IT CERTIFIED USED AND BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY) WHO SAID IT WAS CONSIDERED ROAD DAMAGE AND THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED. I HAVE HELD OFF ON THE REPAIR UNTIL I GATHER A FEW ESTIMATES AND CONTACT HONDA DIRECTLY. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AMONG SOME OF THEIR VEHICLES. THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE GRILL THAT ALLOWS LARGE DEBRIS TO ENTER AND CAUSE DAMAGE. *TR
ON MAY 8TH, I DROVE MY 2006 HONDA CR-V HOME FROM A RESTAURANT. I TRAVELED ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. MY HONDA CR-V SUDDENLY SHUT OFF ENGINE AND RESTARTED ITSELF. THE VSA LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ONE MORE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS SO SCARED. ON MAY 10TH, I TOOK MY CAR TO HONDA DEALER TO BE CHECKED OUT. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE STABILITY ASSISTANCE (VSA) SYSTEM FAILED AFTER I OWNED THE CAR FOR FOUR YEARS AND AT 45000+ MILES. DEALER TOLD ME IT COST $2300 DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE SYSTEM. I DID NOT ACCEPT IT. I ASKED DEALER AND AMERICA HONDA CORP. TO HELP. FINALLY THEY AGREED I PAID $725 DOLLARS FOR THE ENTIRE REPAIR. *TR
THE AC COMPRESSOR LOCKED UP ON 9/13/08. THE CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 44300 MILES. THE CAR IS STILL DRIVABLE WITHOUT THE AC. THE DEALER QUOTED $3000 FOR PARTS AND LABOR BECAUSE THE FAILURE OF THE COMPRESSOR CREATED OTHER PROBLEMS AND ALL THE LINES HAVE TO BE REPLACED. FORTUNATELY, I HAVE AN EXTENDED 72 MONTH/72K MILE WARRANTY WHICH SHOULD COVER ALL BUT $100 DEDUCTIBLE. AN ADJUSTOR MUST FIRST APPROVE THE REPAIRS, SO IT WILL BE SEVERAL DAYS BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED ON A SATURDAY. *TR
WATER PUMP FAILURE, ASKED ON THREE OCCASIONS WHILE IN THE REPAIR SHOP ABOUT A NOISE IN THE ENGINE, IT WAS IGNORED OR I WAS TOLD IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE. MY CAR THEN OVERHEATED NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, BECAUSE IT STALLED. I HAD AN EXTENSIVE REPAIR BILL NEARLY $1000.00. *TR
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR DOWN, AND STARTER AROUND THE OTHER VEHICLE, WHEN I HAD COMPLETED MY PASSING, I RELEASED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR, BUT IT DID NOT RESPOND. I CONTINUED TO PICK UP SPEED AT FULL THROTTLE. AFTER JAMMING DOWN HARD ON THE ACCELERATOR IT RELEASE THE THROTTLE BACK TO THE IDLE POSITION. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. *NM
I PURCHASED A HONDA CRV LX (4WD) IN NOV'06 FROM FAIRFAX HONDA, VA. THE CAR HAD ~ 4400 MILES ON IT WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. WE WERE DRIVING NEAR WHEELING, WV RETURNING BACK TO FAIRFAX, VA. I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN AS WE WERE NEGOTIATING A MILD CURVE AND SLOPE. JUST OVER THE TOP OF THE SLOPE, THE CAR ABRUPTLY STOPPED. THE WHOLE THING FROM SLOW-DOWN TO ABRUPT HALT WAS 5-10 SECONDS. INITIALLY I COULDN'T EVEN GET IT TO PUT IT ON NEUTRAL TO GET MOVE IT TO THE SHOULDER. AFTER THIS IT HAS TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY FRUSTRATING TIME WITH AMERICAN HONDA AND THE DEALER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE ENGINE HAS COMPLETELY BROKEN DOWN AND HAS TO BE REPLACED (STILL HAVEN'T TOLD ME WHAT CAUSED IT). BEING A NEW CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE, I ASKED AMERICAN HONDA AND THE DEALER FOR A REPLACEMENT. THE CASE OFFICER NEVER CALLED ME INSPITE OF DOZENS OF CALLS (FINALLY REACHED HIM ON THURS). HE ACTUALLY GOT AGGRESSIVE WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE CAR REPLACEMENT. HE SAID THAT MY REQUEST WOULD NEVER GET APPROVED AND IS A WASTE OF TIME. HE EVEN EXPLICITLY SAID THAT HE WAS GIVING ME AN "ULTIMATUM" - "I'LL GIVE A NEW ENGINE. THEN TAKE THE 7-YR EXTENDED WARRANTY I AM GIVING NOW, OR ELSE I WILL GIVE YOU NOTHING". WHEN I SHOT BACK ASKING IF HE WAS THREATENING ME, HE REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE. HE SAID THAT HE WOULD STILL GIVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EVEN IF THE NEW CAR REQUEST WAS DENIED IN A VERY ANGRY TONE AND ENDED THE CONVERSATION. THE CASE NUMBER IS [XXX]. THE CASE OFFICER'S NAME IS [XXX]. THE SERVICE DIRECTOR FROM FAIRFAX HONDA [XXX] WAS NOT SO AGGRESSIVE BUT PRETTY MUCH SAID THE SAME THINGS THAT HERBERT WEBB TOLD ([XXX] HAD DISCUSSED THE CASE WITH [XXX] BEFORE THIS). I AM EXTREMELY WORRIED ABOUT THE VEHICLE THAT IT BROKE DOWN SO BAD WITHOUT A WARNING THE FIRST TIME WE TRAVELED MORE THAN 50 MILES. IT IS EVEN PAINFUL WHEN THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER ARE NOT EVEN READY TO CONSIDER MY REQUEST.
