Car suddenly slows down to about 18 mph. Cannot speed back up. Has happened several times in traffic. Left overnight one time and started next morning. Second time, left overnight and would not start next morning. Turned off and on, off and on, finally ran normally. Then, same day, while driving in traffic, same thing happened. Slowed down to about 18 mph and barely made it back home. Honda dealer says no open recall for this car?????? Have a recall no.: 19E068000 given to me by my mechanic.
The contact owns a 2009 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph in a parking lot, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration causing the driver to lose control of the steering and crashed into two vehicles and a building wall. During the incident, the driver sustained a head injury that required medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. The failure mileage was 210,000.
UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION - DRIVER EXPERIENCES SUDDEN ACCELERATION FROM THE ENGINE WITHOUT MOVING THE GAS PEDAL CAUSING AN IMPACT. THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING JUST A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE INCIDENT. SOME ONLINE REPORTS HAVE SUGGESTED THAT A FAILING OR FAILED A/C COMPRESSOR MAY RESTRICT MOVEMENT FROM THE DRIVE BELT SLOWING DOWN THE ENGINE AND REDUCING POWER. 2009 Honda CRV with 200,000+ miles. The brakes are spongy. Brought it to my mechanic because it is not in ideal driving condition. Checked brake pads and all that and couldn't figure it out. Upon investigation- the brake booster went bad. Replaced that at a ridiculous cost being that he had to take apart the steering column to get to the part. On my way home from picking it up, the brakes locked on me. Got it on a trailer to bring back to his house and the brakes were no longer locked up. Got it back. Brakes were ok for a little while. Took it through a car wash and as I was pulling out, the brakes were spongy again. Upon more investigation- other 2009 CRVs have experienced this as well. I spent over $2000 figuring out the brakes and they still don't work as they should.
Brake pedal continues to be squishy, having to be pushed all the way down to the floor to stop, after having replaced the master cylinder and brake booster Twice, flushing and replacing brake fluid, clearing air out of the brake line multiple times! Dealer has no idea how to fix this. It’s defective brake system has been serviced multiple times by Honda dealer!
I WAS GETTING THE BACK TIRES PUT ON AND THEY NOTICED WHEN THE BACK UNIBODY IS ROTTED OUT.
FAILED SEPTEMBER 2020 INSPECTION DUE TO CORROSION HOLES IN UNIBODY NEAR THREE OF THE TRAILING ARMS. FAILURE MODE IS A SAFETY ITEM, AS BODY CAN FALL DOWN WHILE DRIVING.
MY CAR SHUT DOWN IN THE ROAD AND WOULDN'T SHIFT OR START AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION SHOT PIECES OF METAL INTO IT MESSING UP THE PCM.
AC COMPRESSOR, THIS IS THE 2ND CAR I HAVE OWED SAME YEAR. BECAUSE I OBVIOUSLY LOVE THESE CARS THAT THE AC COMPRESSOR HAS NEEDED FIXED. SO IT'S OBVIOUSLY BAD. *TR
UNIBODY MOUNT AREA FOR TRAILING ARM IS RUSTED OUT, BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE REAR. NOBODY AROUND WILL TOUCH THIS PROBLEM, SO CAR IS BASICALLY TOTALED. CAR IS IN TERRIFIC SHAPE OUTSIDE OF THIS. DOOR ACULATOR IS NOT WORKING ON FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR PROPERLY. THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK WITH OR WITHOUT A KEY. THE LOCK JUMPS ON AND OFF WHILE PARKED AND TRYING TO LOCK THE DOORS. WHILE DRIVING AND THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE LOCKS MAKE A NOISE AND JUMP ON AND OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF THE OWNER OF A 2009 HONDA CR-V. WHILE THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING AND MAKING A TURN, THE FRAME FRACTURED AND THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL DISCONNECTED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME WAS ROTTED OUT. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 135,000.
WHEN I'M DRIVING MY HONDA CR-V 2009 AT AROUND 25 TO 30 MILES PER HOUR I GET A THROBBING NOISE AS IF IT WERE THE TRANSMISSION. I TOOK IT EVERYWHERE TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON AND NO ONE COULD TELL ME WHATS GOING ON. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN 2009 TWO YEARS LATTER THEY HAD TO CHANGE MY TRANSMISSION IN 2011 BECAUSE OF A SIMILAR PROBLEM. PLEASE I NEED HELP TO STOP THIS THROBBING I'M SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR. I RECENTLY BROUGHT MY 10 YEAR OLD CAR IN FOR ITS YEARLY STATE SAFETY INSPECTION AND I WAS INFORMED THAT CORROSION ON THE LEFT REAR UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR WAS IRREPARABLE. THIS INCLUDED CORROSION BETWEEN THE UNI BODY AND UNDERCARRIAGE, COMPROMISING THE INTEGRITY OF THE CONTROL ARMS. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE, I NOTED THAT HONDA HAS AN ACTIVE RECALL IN CANADA FOR A SIMILAR DEFECT, BUT NOT IN THE US. I CONTACTED HONDA OF NORTH AMERICA AND ASKED IF THEY COULD PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE OR COMPENSATION FOR THIS ISSUE, WHICH ESSENTIALLY RENDERS THE CAR UNUSABLE, AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT.

SHE IS THE TYPE OF CUSTOMER FOR HONDA, THAT'S NOTEWORTHY.OWNED TWO CIVICS IN THE PAST, BOUGHT NEW. SHE IS STARTING TO NEED HER HONDA MORE AS IT'S GETTING HER TO INCREASING DR. APPS. 64,000 MILES AND GARAGE KEPT AND DOCUMENTED MAINTENANCE, OIL ETC. THE AIR-CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING ON THE WAY TO VISIT HER HUSBAND. THE CAR STARTED TO LEAK OIL AT ABOUT 55000 MILES. THE OIL LEAKS BETWEEN ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. THE HONDA DEALER CHECKED AND SAID IT MAY BE CAUSED BY THE GALLERY BOLT AND SEAL, THE PART NUMBERS ARE 12208-P8C-A01 AND 90401-PR4-000 AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REMOVED TO REPLACE THEM, IT'S 16 HOURS' WORK. IT'S SO UNRELIABLE AND COSTLY TO FIX.
TAKATA RECALL TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP ON 5-23-17 FOR TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. RECENTLY WE RECEIVED ANOTHER AIRBAG RECALL LETTER. CALLED DEALER THINKING THAT WE ALREADY HAD TAKEN CARE OF THIS MATTER. WERE INFORMED THAT ON 5-23-17 ONLY THE DRIVERS AIRBAG WAS REPLACED AND NOW PASSENGER BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHY WERE BOTH NOT DONE ON 5-23-17? WHY HAVE WE BEEN DRIVING A CAR WITH AN UNSAFE PASSENGER AIR BAG FOR 2 ADDITIONAL YEARS AND A TOTAL OF 15,157 MILES. ALL THIS TIME WE THOUGHT WE WERE DRIVING A SAFE CAR, NOT PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH THE PERSON RIDING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT.
PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT KEEP GOING ON AND OFF
MY 2009 HONDA CR-V STARTED ROLLING WHEN I WAS OUT OF THE CAR AFTER PLACING THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. THIS IS NOW A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR THE EXISTING TRANSMISSION RECALL ISSUED BACK IN 2011. THE DEALER ADVISED THE 'FIX' WAS TAKEN CARE OF PREVIOUSLY AND MY CURRENT PROBLEM IS NOT RELATED TO THE EXISTING RECALL. THE PROBLEM I HAVE CERTAINLY SEEMS TO MATCH THE RECALL. I FEEL HONDA DOES NOT WANT TO HONOR THE RECALL SINCE THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 150,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND REPAIRS WOULD BE VERY EXPENSIVE. I AM BEING QUOTED BY THE DEALER A PRICE OF APPROXIMATELY $3,700 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.
MORE THAN A YEAR AGO I CONTACTED YOUR AGENCY ABOUT RECALLS FOR MY HONDA CRV 2009, BUT NEVER GOT ANY RESPONSE. HOWEVER, I AM CONSTANTLY BOMBARDED BY ENTITIES OFFERING EXTENDED WARRANTY. REPORTED FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW MALFUNCTIONING TO NHTSA EARLY 2019 ABOUT THIS BUT NO RESPONSE. MY RESEARCH DISCLOSED THIS PROBLEM WAS RECALLED BUT ONLY UP TO 2006 MODELS OF THE HONDA CR-V. MY HONDA CR-V IS 2009. LEFT WITH NO CHOICE BUT TO COVER REPAIR COSTS OF $325. IS THERE ANYWAY NHTSA AND YOUR AGENCY MAY INVESTIGATE THIS? SAID PROBLEM EXISTS WHETHER OR NOT SAID VEHICLE STATIONARY.
THIS ENTRY HAS TO DO WITH REPLACEMENT / AFTERMARKET DISC BRAKE PADS MANUFACTURED BY RAYBESTOS. I SEARCHED THIS SITE TO TRY AND DETERMINE IF THIS IS THE PLACE TO REPORT THIS, BUT I'M UNCERTAIN, AND FELT IT BEST TO JUST GIVE YOU THIS INFORMATION REGARDLESS. I'M AN AUTO MECHANIC AND I'VE SEEN THIS ISSUE QUITE A FEW TIMES NOW OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS, AND I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER VIA THEIR WEB SITE OVER 2 WEEKS AGO, AND THEY DID NOT RESPOND. THIS IS A DESIGN ERROR IN THE BRAKE PAD SHIM CAUSING THE PAD TO NOT MAKE FULL CONTACT WITH THE OUTER CALIPER SURFACE. THIS CAUSES THE PADS ON BOTH SIDES TO NOT MAKE FULL (PARALLEL) CONTACT WITH THE ROTOR. THIS REDUCES THE FRICTION ASPECT, AND CAUSES A SLIGHTLY SPONGY PEDAL. IT'S EASILY SEEN IN THE CONTACT SURFACE OF THE ROTOR AFTER AN INITIAL DRIVE. I'VE HAD CUSTOMER REMARKS AND COMPLAINTS, AND THE ONLY RESOLVE IS TO DISMANTLE THE PADS FROM THE CALIPER, AND REMOVE THE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM. IF DRIVEN AS-IS, THE FRICTION MATERIAL OF THE BRAKE PAD WILL EVENTUALLY WEAR DOWN UNTIL FULL CONTACT DOES OCCUR, BUT THIS MAY TAKE HUNDREDS OF MILES. IN THE MEANTIME, THE BRAKING EFFICIENCY IS SOMEWHAT COMPROMISED. I HAVE 10 PHOTOS I WANT TO SEND EXPLAINING THE SITUATION, AND THEY INCLUDE AN OEM HONDA PAD WITH THE OEM SHIM TO SHOW THE DIFFERENCE. I JUST DISCOVERED YOUR SYSTEM ONLY ALLOWS ONE PHOTO, SO IT'S THE BEST ONE COMPARING THE OEM PAD TO THE REPLACEMENT. PLEASE REQUEST THE REST IF YOU FEEL THIS IS WORTH PURSUING ON YOUR PART. THE DEALER (SMART HONDA, 11206 HICKMAN RD, DES MOINES, IA 50325, (515)-253-3040) WAS CONTACTED TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,371.
STEERING RACK REPLACED ABOUT 3-1/2 YEARS AGO PROBABLY AROUND 50,000 MILES (EST) . WAS TOLD TODAY NEEDS SECOND REPLACEMENT AT AROUND 86,000 MILES. THIS MEANS STEERING RACK WILL HAVE FAILED TWICE.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR BEHIND DRIVER'S SIDE, DOOR LOCK CANNOT BE UNLOCKED OR OPENED FROM INSIDE. TRIED ALL OPTIONS. SAME RESULT. I MUST OPEN DOOR FROM OUTSIDE ONLY. VEHICLE IS OBVIOUSLY PARKED ON STREET AND ON DRIVEWAY.
TAKATA RECALL. MY CAR FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS MAKES LOUD NOISE WHEN LOCKING THE DOOR. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR SAME ISSUE ON SAME MODEL WITH SPECIFIC YEAR AND MODLES BUT WHEN I CALL THEY SAID THE RECALL IS NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER. HOW COME SOME OF THE SAME MODELS ARE RECALLED AND NOT OTHERS. I HAVE 63,000 MILES ON MY HONDA. POSSIBLE DOOR ACUTAROR REPLACEMENT.
WHILE BEING DRIVEN AT 55-60 MPH ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM BROKE FREE FROM THE UNIBODY CAUSING THE REAR TIRE TO TWIST SIDEWAYS AND LODGE IN THE WHEEL WELL. THE DRIVER SIDE REAR AXLE PULLED FREE FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL DUE TO DETACHMENT. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT USED BOTH LANES AND THE VEHICLE WIDTH SHOULDER OF THE ROAD TO DUE SO. HAD ANOTHER VEHICLE BEEN CLOSE BY AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE RESULTED. THE CRV HAD BEEN NYS INSPECTED 2 MONTHS PRIOR WITH NO SIGNS OF AN IMPENDING PROBLEM. PICTURES ARE ATTACHED SHOWING THE DETACHED DRIVER SIDE AND ALSO THE INTACT PASSENGER SIDE. AFTER TAKING PICS SHOWING AN INTACT MOUNT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE A HAMMER WAS USED TO CHECK THE STRUCTURE AND IT WAS POSSIBLE TO OPEN UP A HOLE ON THAT SIDE AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN IN NY DURING THE WINTER, THUS ROAD SALT WAS ENCOUNTERED. THE ONLY PART OF THE CRV AFFECTED BY RUST WAS THE MOUNTING LOCATION OF BOTH REAR CONTROL ARMS DUE TO AN AREA WHERE MOISTURE AND SALT CAN ENTER, BUT NOT ESCAPE. THE REST OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND EXTERIOR BODY WERE RUST FREE. HONDA WAS CONTACTED, BUT UNWILLING TO TAKE ANY ACTION DUE TO AGE AND MILES ON VEHICLE. THE CASE# AND LAST CORRESPONDENCE WITH HONDA IS INCLUDED--NO RESPONSE FROM HONDA.
I purchased a 2009 Honda CRV in 2017 at the West Chester Scott Honda dealership. This vehicle, when I purchased it, had 38,000 miles on it. A year after I purchased it, there was a problem with the door lock accelerator on the driver's side door. I purchased the Honda part myself and had it repaired. A month after this, the left back passenger side door had the same problem. I purchased another part and had it repaired also. About six months ago, the same problem occurred on the front passenger door and on the right back passenger door. This should not be considered normal wear and tear on a vehicle because this occurred on all four doors. I went on-line and researched that this issue was involved in a class action lawsuit Case ID #2:13-cv-00381. In this information, it was stated that, Honda knew about this problem with the door locks but avoided acknowledging the problem. It was also stated that this issue occurred after the limited 36,0000 mile warranty. It alleged that Honda avoided acknowledging the problem so they would not have to cover repairs. The lawsuit settled and Honda agreed to repair these affected vehicles free of charge. The warranty on these vehicles was also extended from 3 to 6 years or 6 months from the date the settlement was reached. Honda also agreed to reimburse owners who had already paid for this malfunction. When I purchased this vehicle from this Honda dealership, this issue was never mentioned to me. Now I am saddled with this problem and I paid to get this fixed out of my own pocket. I went to this dealership last week for a different recall, I spoke to the supervisor,, he said that he didn't know anything about this. He was very rude. Currently the front passenger door and the right back passenger door are still not working and it locks and you can't open it unless you push the driver side. If there was an accident, I wouldn't be able to open those doors.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I AM A NEW HONDA OWNER. LAST NIGHT (5/15/18) I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH WHEN MY REAR BREAK JUST LOCKED UP AUTOMATIC NEARLY CAUSING A TERRIBLE COLLISION. IMMEDIATELY AFTER, I PULLED OVER AT 10:30PM AT NIGHT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER HAVING A FULL DIAGNOSTIC IT WAS A REVEALED A BREAK MALFUNCTION DUE TO FAILED ABS MODULE CAUSING ALL BRAKES TO IMMEDIATELY LOCK UP WITHOUT WARNING OR NOTICE. THIS ABS/VSA MODULE ASSEMBLY SAFETY FEATURE IS THE BRAIN FOR THE BRAKES AND IS VITALLY IMPORTANT TO THE OVER ALL FUNCTION OF THE VEHICLE BRAKING SYSTEM. OUT OF POCKETS EXPENSIVE FOR PARTS & LABOR BY HONDA DEALERSHIP IN HAWAII IS CHARGING ME $2,642.63. I NEED AN IMMEDIATE REPLY BACK. THANK YOU.
PULLED MY CAR INTO MY GARAGE. TRAPPED IN MY CAR. UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS. UNROLLED WINDOWS, UNABLE TO OPEN DOORS BY REACHING OUTSIDE HANDLES. REMOTE ON KEY DIDN'T HELP. HAD TO GET ASSIST TO USE THE KEY IN THE OUTSIDE KEY HOLE. FORTUNATELY, THE WINDOWS WORKED, AND I HAD MY PHONE TO CALL FOR HELP. TRIED MANY TIMES TO UNLOCK DOORS OVER THE NEXT HOURS. ONLY WORKED WITH KEY IN LOCK. TOOK TO DEALER. AGAIN NEEDED ASSIST TO EXIT CAR. PERSONNEL REALLY QUESTIONED MY SANITY SAYING, ' NO WAY' WHEN I EXPLAINED PROBLEM. THEY APPROACHED THE CAR, AND USING THE REMOTE UNLOCKED THE DOORS! WITH THAT, THEY SENT ME ON MY WAY. NO EXPLANATION FOR WHAT HAD HAPPENED, OR ASSURANCE IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING 45 MPH ON THE FREEWAY, WHEN MY GAS PEDAL WENT DOWN ON ITS OWN AS IF I WANTED TO SPEED UP. A FEW MINUTES LATER IT DID THE SAME THING, BUT THIS TIME THE GAS PEDAL STUCK. I PUT MY 4-WAY FLASHERS ON, TRIED BRAKING AND PUT MY RIGHT FOOT UNDER THE PEDAL TO TRY AN "LOOSEN IT". IT FINALLY "UNLOCKED" AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. IT WAS NOT MY FLOOR MATS IN THE WAY EITHER, BECAUSE I CHECKED THAT. AFTER RESEARCHING OVER THE WEEKEND IT LOOKS LIKE THERE HAVE BEEN 295 HONDA COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO INVESTIGATE THIS AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM, BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED? A FEW YEARS AGO THE TOYOTA PRIUS HAD AN ISSUE WITH THIS. MAYBE YOU SHOULD TALK WITH THEM.
TAKATA RECALL. I DID GO TO DEALERSHIP AND GOT THE AIR BAG FIXED, BUT I NEVER GOT A NOTICE ABOUT ANOTHER RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE.
I PARKED AT OPEN PARKING LOT IN GATED COMM UNITY ON 01/24/18 AT APPROXIMATELY 7:00PM . THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 40 DEGREES. I LEFT IN M Y VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 9:00 AM ON 01/25/18. I DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY SUNROOF. WHEN I STARTED ACCELERATING AT 30 TO 40 MILES PER HOUR, I HEARD SOME CRACKLING NOISE THAT WAS COMING FROM AND FLYING OFF. I THEN NOTICED GLASS IN THE SUN ROOF COVER THAT IS PULLED OVER THE GLASS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WHEN I GOT TO WORK (3 MILES ON BELTWAY), I OBSERVED THAT THE GLASS OF THE SUN ROOF WAS SHATTERED AND HAD A LARGE HOLE IN THE GLASS. I RETURNED TO CONDO AND SURVEILLED PARKING LOT AND OTHER PARKED VEHICLES AND DID NOT SEE ANYTHING THAT MAY HAVE FALLEN ONTO THE SUNROOF. I DID NOT SEE ANY GLASS AT THE CONDO WHERE I FIRST GOT INTO VEHICLE. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY OBJECT INSIDE THE SUNROOF UNDER THE SHATTERED GLASS. THE VEHICLE IS PRESENTLY IN MY WORK GARAGE, AND EXPECTED DATE OF REPLACEMENT PER M Y CONSULTATION WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY WILL BE ON MONDAY, JANUARY 29, 2018. I AM UNAWARE OF ANY DAMAGE TO THE SUNROOF PRIOR TO THE SHATTERING.

POWER STEERING RACK LEAK. THIS IS MY 2ND CRV THAT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A RACK AND PINION LEAK. UPON RESEARCHING IT IS APPARENT THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. HONDA SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES INVOLVING THE STEERING.

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE CONTACT PROPERLY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL TO BE CHECKED FOR CHEST AND BACK PAINS; HOWEVER, THE X-RAYS CAME BACK CLEAR. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED MUSCLE SPASMS AND SORENESS ACROSS THE CHEST AND BRUISING TO BOTH FEET. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL BODY SHOP AND THE BODY DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE SEAT BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DECLARED DESTROYED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, HOWEVER NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, A WHINING SOUND WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FLUID THAT WAS LEAKING OFF THE DRIVER SIDE BOOT WAS POWER STEERING FLUID AND THE RACK AND PINON NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST OF THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,655.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-999-1009 AND WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE OUT OF WARRANTY AND A CASE NUMBER 06250936 WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,607.

THEN I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW POWER STEERING RACK BECAUSE BOTH OF MY BOOTS ARE LEAKING. I WAS QUOTED $1450. AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON HERE, IT SEEMS LIKE A BIG PROBLEM, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. I AM ONLY AT 79,000 MILES.

ON 1/28/2017 MY DAUGHTER'S 2009 HONDA CRV CAUGHT ON FIRE IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND BURNED UNTIL IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. IT ONLY HAD 87,000 MILES ON IT AND SEEMED TO BE RUNNING PERFECTLY THAT DAY. I HAD DRIVEN HER CAR FOR ONE HOUR (A 44 MILE TRIP), RETURNED HOME, TURNED OFF THE CAR, TOOK THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION AND WENT INSIDE THE HOUSE. ABOUT TEN MINUTES LATER, ONE OF MY DAUGHTERS HEARD A CAR ALARM, WE LOOKED OUTSIDE AND SAW FLAMES SHOOTING OUT OF THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT OUT THE FIRE, BUT IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THE FIREMEN SAID THAT IT STARTED NEAR THE BATTERY AREA, BUT WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED IT THERE WAS NO SIGN OF ANY PROBLEM WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON AND IT WAS RUNNING GREAT. THIS WAS A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE AS I COULD HAVE PARKED THE CAR IN OUR GARAGE OR IT COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT HOME ON THE MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE, WHICH IS ISOLATED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG WAS REPLACED IN JUNE 2016 AS REQUIRED BY THE MAJOR AIRBAG RECALL AND THE CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED.
WHILE INSTALLING MY CHILD'S CARSEAT, THE WELD BROKE AND THE ANCHOR CAME OFF OF THE CAR. THIS WAS A STRUCTURAL FAILURE AND SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED "WEAR AND TEAR".
