TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER LIFTGATE AND REAR DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO OPERATE WITH THE KEY FOB. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE TWO FAULTY POWER DOORS LOCKS ONLY UNLATCHED MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT CONTINUED TO REMAIN FOR ELEVEN CONSECUTIVE WEEKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE VEHICLE MAKES A STRAINING SOUND, AS IF IT WERE IN FIRST GEAR WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING MAKES A LOUD NOISE WHEN TURNING IN EITHER DIRECTION. I HAD DEALER CHECK IT AND WAS TOLD THE HYDRAULIC FLUID PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, FLUID APPEARS TO BE LEAKING.
CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT THE VEHICLE IS COVERED UNDER AN EXCESSIVE OIL COMSUMPTION WARRANTY WHICH THEY WILL REPLACE THE ENGINE PISTON RINGS DUE TO OIL ENTERING THE SYSTEM. THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO CAUSE OIL TO GET INTO THE FUEL SYSTEM AND EVENTUALLY GET IT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CAUSING IT TO FOULED AND SET EFFICIENCY CODES .I AM IN THE PROCESS OF ENQUIRE TO SEE IF HONDA WILL REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
TAKATA RECALL. DEALERSHIP HAS CLAIMED THEY DON'T HAVE THE NECESSARY PARTS TO FIX THE AIRBAGS FOR OVER A YEAR.
RACK AND PINION STEERING STARTED LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID INTO THE BELLOW THAT COVERS THE INNER TIE ROD ENDS. THIS CAR DOES NOT EVEN HAVE 50,000 MILES ON IT. CERTAINLY THE STEERING SYSTEM SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN THIS.
MY AIR CONDITIONER WAS WORKING FINE ON ARIDE DOWN TO YAKEE STADIUM, ON THE WAY HOME IT JUST WOULD NOT WORK, HE GARAE MECH. TOLD ME THE COMPRESSOR WAS NOT WORKING, I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN OCT. OF 2009, THE 2009 MODELS AND BEFORE HAD RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM, I WAS WONDERING IF MY CAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM, I CHECKED THE HEATER IT ORKS JUST FINE. MAYBE MY AIR SYSTEM IS STILL THE SME AS THE 2009 MODELS AS BOUGHT IT IN 2009.
THE AC COMPRESSOR FAILED. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AT THIS MILEAGE AND YEAR. I CHECKED ONLINE AND SAW THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE DEALT WITH BUT HONDA HAS NOT YET ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE 2010 MODEL.
IN AUGUST OF 2015 HONDA ISSUED A WARRANTY EXTENSION NOTIFICATION FOR STICKING PISTON RINGS RESULTING IN HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. IN 2015 I BEGAN TO ADD OIL IN-BETWEEN REQUIRED OIL CHANGES AND REPORTED THE CONDITION TO MANCHESTER HONDA IN JULY. THE RATE IS APPROXIMATELY 1QT/2,500 MILES. HONDA AGREES THIS IS 'ABNORMAL' BUT THAT THE RATE DOES NOT MEET THE 'EXCESSIVE' CONSUMPTION REQUIRED TO BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY EXTENSION NOTIFICATION. THAT RATE IS NOT DOCUMENTED ANYWHERE AND REPORTED TO BE 1QT/1,000 MILES. FOR 'CUSTOMER SATISFACTION' HONDA HAS AGREED TO FIX THE PROBLEM CHARGING ME $1,000. I OBJECT TO THIS OFFER AS I PAID FOR A NORMAL CAR AND SEE NO REASON TO PAY ADDITION MONEY TO MAKE THE CAR NORMAL - I PAID FOR AND EXPECT A NORMAL CAR. THE WORD ARGUMENT - ABNORMAL VS. EXCESSIVE - HONDA HAS FORWARDED DOES NOT IMPRESS ME. THE WARRANTY NOTIFICATION STATES "... HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION", THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING. WHETHER IT IS ABNORMAL OR EXCESSIVE IS A PHILOSOPHICAL DISCUSSION HONDA CAN HAVE INTERNALLY. THE FACTS: MY CAR IS EXHIBITING HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION; HONDA AGREES THE CONSUMPTION IS ABNORMAL AND IN 2015 ISSUED A WARRANTY EXTENSION NOTIFICATION ACKNOWLEDGING THE 2010 CR-V MODELS POTENTIALLY HAVE A STICKING PISTON RING RESULTING IN HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION. CALLING AN OFFER TO PAY A SECOND TIME FOR THE NORMAL CAR I PURCHASED DOES NOT, IN MY MIND, AMOUNT TO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. TOGETHER THE TERMINOLOGY EXCUSE HONDA HAS PRESENTED, THE HOLLOW CUSTOMER SATISFACTION OFFER AND LACK OF SUPPORT FROM THE ENTIRE HONDA SERVICE TEAM ADDS TO MY ANGER AND FRUSTRATION. MY REQUEST IS TO HAVE HONDA PERFORM WHATEVER REPAIRS NECESSARY TO YIELD THE PRODUCT I PURCHASED - A NORMAL CAR THAT DOES NOT EXHIBIT HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION.
AC COMPRESSOR IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS REPLACING. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, BUT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED BY HONDA.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR ACTUATOR IS MALFUNCTIONING. UNABLE TO LOCK DOOR WITH KEY FOB, HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK IT. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS FOR THE 2007 AND 2008 MODEL, HOWEVER THE COMPANY IS STILL USING THE DEFECT PART IN NEWER MODELS. WAITING FOR THE OTHER DOOR TO MALFUNCTION AND IF IT PERSIST IT MIGHT CAUSE A FIRE IN THE DOOR. BIG SAFETY CONCERN, GUESS THE GOVERNMENT WILL WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE DIES BEFORE RECALLING THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEMS FOR THE CRVS, LOOK AT THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.
WHILE TRAVELING A VERY BUSY INTERSTATE ON A HOLIDAY, MY BATTERY CABLE CAME OFF (EROSION). THIS HAPPENED WHILE GOING SLOW DUE TO A NORMAL TRAFFIC SLOWDOWN. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A 5-LANE FREEWAY. AFTER MY CAR STOPPED, TRAFFIC BACKED UP AS FAR AS THE EYE COULD SEE. I HAD NO ELECTRICS AND, AS A RESULT, I COULD NOT GET OUT OF MY CAR, OPEN A WINDOW, TURN ON EMERGENCY FLASHERS, OR USE THE MANUAL DOOR LOCKS. IF THE CAR HAD CAUGHT FIRE, I HAD NO WAY TO GET OUT. BREAKING A WINDOW FROM INSIDE, WITHOUT A TOOL FOR THAT USE, IS BEYOND MY ABILITIES. WITH A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES, MY LIFE COULD HAVE BEEN IN DANGER. I THINK THE INABILITY TO EXIT MY CAR IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. IT WAS VERY WARM AND THE CAR QUICKLY HEATED UP. TRAFFIC BACKED UP AS FAR AS THE EYE COULD SEE. A FEW PEOPLE STOPPED TO HELP AND ENDED UP GETTING VERY ANGRY WITH ME. "STUPID" AND "IDIOT" WERE THE NAMES THEY USED FOR ME BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY I WOULD NOT MANUALLY OPEN THE DOOR. DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH POWER BUTTON OR MANUALLY WITH A KEY. CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WILL NOT COVER THE EXPENSES TO FIX, EVENTHOUGH THEY'VE HAD A RECALL ON THE SAME ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY, MY VIN NUMBER APPARENTLY HAS NO COMPLAINTS. DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!?
AIR CONDITIONING BLOWING COLD AND HOT; MANY REPORTS OF THIS ON WEBSITES REGARDING 2010 HONDA CRV. THE BLOWER IS WORKING FINE BUT THE AIR CONDITIONING GOES FROM COLD TO NEUTRAL OVER AND OVER AGAIN WITH NO OTHER SYMPTOMS. VEHICLE IS ON AND IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THERE IS NO RECALL THAT I CAN FIND REGARDING THE SITUATION.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE AN OIL CHANGE WAS PERFORMED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

DRIVING INTO 2 CAR GARAGE LOCATED ON CIRCULAR 1 WAY STREET. GARAGE ANGLED OPPOSITE WAY. HAVE TO MAKE A U TURN AND HAVE CAR FULLY BRAKED TO ENTER GARAGE. PARK ON LEFT HAND SIDE; CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED AND WAS GOING TO CHANGE FROM DRIVE TO PARK. CAR REVVED UP AND HEADED TOWARD RIGHT SIDE OF GARAGE AND CRASHED INTO HOUSE WALL. TOOK OUT 8" OF WALL AND DESTROYED PART OF FOUNDATION & WALL. FIRE DEPT. & EMS CALLED. I HAVE PREEXISTING CONDITIONS INCLUDING CERVICAL FUSIONS, SPONDYLOTHESIS, ARTIFICAL KNEE. BOTH KNEES HIT DASHBOARD. AFTER AIR BAG POPPED, I LOOKED TO SEE MY FOOT WAS STILL ON BRAKE. CAR TOTALED.
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN LESS THAN 30,000 MILES (ON AVERAGE APPROXIMATELY 5,500 MILES A YEAR). IT HAS NOT BEEN SUBJECT TO UNUSUAL WEATHER CONDITIONS OF ANY TYPE. THE BRAKE ROTORS HAVE RUSTED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS A RESULT OF A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR HONDA CR-V MODEL YEARS 2007 - 2010. HONDA MADE THE NECESSARY CHANGES TO CORRECT THE DEFECT ON SUBSEQUENT MODEL YEARS. THE DEALERSHIP, CRISWELL HONDA IN GERMANTOWN, MD, CHARGED ME TO RESURFACE THE ROTORS WHICH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE INHERENT DEFECT. THE ROTORS HAVE NOT BEEN SUBJECT TO "WEAR AND TEAR" . MY DISCUSSIONS WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER HAVE INDICATED THAT HONDA IS FULLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IS ESSENTIALLY INDIFFERENT TO THE DEFECT AND INSISTS UPON CHARGING THE CUSTOMER FOR THE REPAIR. BECAUSE OF THE INHERENT BRAKE DEFECT IT IS NOT AT ALL CLEAR THAT THE "REPAIR" WILL ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. I HAVE THE ROTOR RESURFACE INVOICE BUT THERE IS NO DISPUTE THAT I WAS CHARGED FOR A "REPAIR" THAT DID NOT FIX THE DEFECT. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70MPH. IT WAS 10PM. WE HEARD A LOUD NOISE, SOUNDING LIKE STONES FLYING UP AND HITTING WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR. THE NEXT MORNING I SAW THE SUN ROOF HAD EXPLODED. THE REMAINING GLASS LOOKED AS IF IT WAS PUSHED UP FROM THE INSIDE LIKE A VOLCANIC ERUPTION. THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE ROOF. NO OTHER CARS AROUND AND NO OVER PASSES. THERE IS A WEB SITE WHERE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE SHARED SIMILAR STORIES ABOUT MANY DIFFERENT CAR MANUFACTURES WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE SUNROOF GLASS ISSUES. *TR
VEHICLE WAS REAR-ENDED BY A FASTER VEHICLE. THE IMPACT FORCED THE TRANSMISSION INTO "PARK," WHICH AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED THE DOORS, TRAPPING ANY OCCUPANTS. HAD THERE BEEN A FIRE OR WATER SUBMERGENCE SITUATION, THERE COULD BE UNNECESSARY INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. VEHICLE DOOR LOCKS NEED TO BE RE-DESIGNED TO LET OCCUPANTS ESCAPE IN AN EMERGENCY. *JS
THE HONDA CRV 2010, I HAVE HAD ISSUES WHERE THE AWD HAS NOT KICKED IN AND THE CAR HAS GONE INTO SLIDS AND OVERSTEER WHERE IT DID NOT STABLIZE THE CAR FROM SLIDING. GOING ABOUT 10 MPH AND THE CAR SLID IN THE SNOW, THE TIRES WERE GOOD AND IT SEEMS THE AWD IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IN EUROPE HONDA ISSUED A SOFTWARE UPGRADE FOR THIS ISSUE BUT BLATENTLEY REFUSES TO ISSUE THE PROPER SOFTWARE UPGRADE FOR THE AWD SYSTEM FOR THIS CAR. I FIRST NOTICED EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION IN DEC 2014 WHEN DRIVING ACROSS WEST TEXAS (SPEED LIMITS ARE 80 MPH). MY OIL LIGHT WENT ON AND THE CAR WAS MAKING NOISE WHEN I ARRIVED IN TUCSON. I WENT TO A DEALER WHO SAID I HAD RUN OUT OF OIL BUT HE DIDN'T KNOW WHY. I THEN WENT TO WHERE I PURCHESD THE CAR BUT NO REASON FOR EXCESSIVE OIL FOUND. I WENT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC- AGAIN NO REASON. IN AUGUST 2015 HONDA SENT A LETTER EXPLAINING THAT 2010 AND 2011 CR-VS HAD A PROBLEM WITH STICKY PISTON RINGS THAT COULD LEAD TO EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION. I CONTACTED HONDA AND WENT THROUGH AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. ALTHOUGH I DOCUMENTED 1.5 QUARTS OF OIL BURNED IN 1700 MILES OF HIGHWAY, THE AVERAGE WAS LESS THAN HONDA DEFINED AS EXCESSIVE. I FEEL THAT THIS LEVEL OF CONSUMPTION IS EXCESSIVE, ESPECIALLY ON LONGER HIGHWAY DRIVES AND I AM WORRYING ABOUT DAMAGING THE ENGINE. HONDA SHOULD DO THE WARRANTY WORK. MY LOCAL DEALER SUGGESTED I CONTINUE TO DO MY OWN OIL CONSUMPTION TESTING. THE WARRANTY IS VALID UNTIL NOV 2017 AND FOR ANOTHER 35,000 MILES.
THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME AND THE DEALER JUST SAYS TO UNSCREW AND RE TIGHTEN THE FUEL CAP. SOMETIMES THIS FIXES AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK BUZZES FOR ABOUT 1-2 SECOND WHEN I LOCK THE CAR. . IT DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER YOU USE THE REMOTE OR LOCK THE CAR FROM INSIDE. I ALSO HAVE IT WHERE THE DOOR LOCKS AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED. I THINK THIS IS THE HONDA BROKEN DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR. THERE'S A SMALL MOTOR INSIDE THE ACTUATOR THAT GEARS TO A SMALL RACK. WHEN THE RACK REACHES THE END OF TRAVEL, IT HITS A RUBBER BUMPER AND SHUTS OFF THE MOTOR. WHEN THE RUBBER BUMPER WEARS OUT, THE RACK GOES TOO FAR AND THE NOISE YOU HEAR IS THE MOTOR GEAR GRINDING AGAINST THE END OF THE RACK. THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY RELOCKING ITSELF HAPPENS WHEN THE RACK BOUNCES BACKWARDS AND HITS THE LOCK CONTACTS. CONTACTED WITH THE DEALER, THEY SAID I NEED TO PAY OUT OF MY POCKET TO FIX IT. I THINK THIS IS MANUFACTURER'S PROBLEM. THEY SHOULD FIX IT.
I PURCHASED A HONDA CRV EX 2010 ON JULY 19 2014 AT A LONG ISLAND CITY HYUNDAI DEALER.. CAR RUNS GREAT AND SMOOTH BUT I REALIZED THAT WHILE THE CAR IS IDLE OR STOP ON ANY RED LIGHT THE ENGINE SEEMS TO VIBRATE I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THAT'S NORMAL IN HONDA CRV CARS. AND I'M TRYING TO FIND OUT WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. AND I WENT TO HONDA DEALER AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME A $110 SERVICE FEE FOR CHECK UP. I HAD AN AIRBAG RECALL ON MY HONDA CRV 2014 AT12943 JEFFERSON AVE, NEWPORT NEWS 23608 THERE WERE SUSPOSE TO FIX MY VEHICLE ANDI BEEN HAVE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH MY CAR EVER SINCE THE TOTAL VEHICLE PROBLEMS AND COST.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE IT WAS VERIFIED THAT THE WATER HAD ACCUMULATED IN THE TIRE WELLS AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIRE WELLS WERE NOT PROPERLY SEALED, WHICH CAUSED THE REAR FRAME TO RUST EXCESSIVELY AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE RUST WAS TREATED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG SYMBOL LIGHTS UP BY ITSELF AND GOES OFF BY ITSELF; SOMETIMES IT REMAINS ON FOR AS LONG AS 15 MINS OR AS SHORT AS FEW MINS. IT IS RANDOM AND NOT REPRODUCIBLE ON DEMAND. THERE'S NOTHING ONE CAN DO ON A HIGHWAY IF THE AIRBAG FAILS TO DEPLOY AS ONE WOULD EXPECT. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER, THEY WANTED A DIAGNOSTIC FEE OF $125 TO FIND THE PROBLEM, AND IF ITS NOT REPRODUCIBLE ON DEMAND IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL TRIES. OVER THE NEXT WEEK, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME ABNORMALLY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER .THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC WHERE THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK FROM THE RACK AND PINION, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,580. *TR
SUDDEN, UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION: I WAS PARKING AT MY WORKS PARKING LOT, THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL, CROSSED THE PARKING LOT AND HIT THE BUILDING FULL FORCE, AIRBAG DEPLOYED. I SUFFERED MILD INJURIES THANKS TO THE SEAT BELT AND AIRBAG PROTECTION. THE CAR WAS TOWED AND IS BEING ASSESSED BY THE INSURER. *TR
HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION - MY CAR RAN OUT OF OIL IN 2014, THE RED LIGHT CAME ON AND I ADDED 4 QTS OF OIL. THIS WAS BETWEEN OIL CHANGES WITH "20% OIL LIFE" STILL INDICATED IN THE CAR. I REPORTED IT TO HONDA AND NOT UNTIL THEY SENT ME THE WARRANTY EXTENSION REQUIRED BY THE COURT ORDER DID ANYTHING HAPPEN. THEN THEY (MCGRATH HONDA ELGIN IL) MADE ME BRING THE CAR BACK 4 TIMES FOR THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THEY TOLD ME THE TEST WOULD ONLY TAKE 3 TRIPS. EVEN THOUGH IT CONTINUES TO BURN OIL (1QT PER 800-1000 MILES) THEY DENY A PROBLEM.

BEFORE NOTICING BETWEEN OIL CHANGES THE CAR WOULD GO ALMOST DRY BETWEEN CHANGES. THE OIL LIGHT WOULD FLICKER ON AND THEN GO OFF, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS LESS THAN A QUART OF OIL IN THE CAR. THE DEALER CLAIMS HAVING TO ADD 1/2 QUART TO 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES IS CONSIDERED NORMAL CONSUMPTION. HONDA OF AMERICA CLAIMS THE SAME. HONDA OF AMERICA HAD NO ANSWER FOR ME AS TO WHY THE OIL LIGHT DID NOT REMAIN ON WHEN CAR WAS RUNNING VERY LOW ON OIL. HONDA OF AMERICA ALSO HAS NO ANSWER AS TO WHY IF THIS IS CONSIDERED NORMAL CONSUMPTION THERE IS NOTHING IN THE MAINTENANCE MANUAL TO WARN THE CONSUMER THAT THEY MAY WANT TO CHECK THEIR OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. THEY WILL TAKE NO OWNERSHIP OR RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SITUATION. *TR
MY CAR HAS MADE A METAL ON METAL GRINDING NOISE FOR FOUR YEARS ON A COLD STARTUP. THIS IS IN WARM OR COLD WEATHER, BUT ONLY IF THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR 6 HOURS OR LONGER. AFTER HAVING THIS DIAGNOSED AND FIXED TWICE BY MECHANICS (THE PROBLEM ALWAYS RETURNED), MY HONDA DEALER TOLD ME TODAY THAT IT IS THE VPC ACTUATOR. UPON SEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I FOUND IT IS A WELL KNOWN, DEFECTIVE PART FOR MANY HONDA ACCORDS AND CR-VS AND THAT IT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ENGINE PROBLEMS. I'M DISAPPOINTED THAT THIS HAS NOT EVER BEEN COMMUNICATED TO ME AND THAT FIXING IT WILL COST ME $1,000 SINCE HONDA KNOWS THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART.
THE DOORS LOCK AND UNLOCK ON THEIR OWN WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, THE PASSENGER DOOR AND HATCH WILL NOT UNLOCK. THE PASSENGER DOOR CAN BE UNLOCKED MANUALLY, HOWEVER, THE HATCH DOES NOT HAVE A WAY TO UNLOCK IT FROM THE INSIDE WHICH POSES A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD. THE TRUNK WILL OPEN IF I CYCLE THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR ELECTRIC LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN I AM DRIVING THE DOORS WILL CYCLE LOCKED/UNLOCKED UNTIL I MOVE THE MANUAL INDICATOR SEVERAL TIMES. I AM SEEING A PROBLEM WHERE ALL OF THE DOORS AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER HAVE BEEN IN THE OPPOSITE POSITION THAN THE OTHER THREE DOORS, SO IT IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL OF THE DOORS. I'M SEEING A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND EVEN A LAWSUIT ONLINE. I SPOKE TO HONDA TODAY AT 800-999-1009 AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY (IT'S 4 YEARS OLD WITH ABOUT 60K MILES ON IT). THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE THE DRIVER UNINTENTIONALLY OPENS THE DOOR WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION BY PULLING THE LEVER FROM THE INSIDE, WHILE UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT THE DOOR HAS BEEN LOCKED. NOTE THAT IN HONDA MODELS, PULLING THE INTERIOR RELEASE LEVER WHILE THE DOOR IS LOCKED SHOULD PREVENT THE DOOR FROM BEING OPENED ALTOGETHER. THIS PROBLEM COULD MISLEAD THE DRIVER INTO THINKING THAT ALL DOORS HAVE BEEN LOCKED WHILE, IN FACT, THEY HAVE NOT; THIS ALSO CREATES A SECURITY ISSUE BECAUSE THE DOOR CAN BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE AS WELL. ANOTHER RELATED PROBLEM IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THE DRIVER TO UNINTENTIONALLY LEAVE THE VEHICLE WITH AN UNLOCKED DOOR, EVEN AFTER PRESSING THE LOCK BUTTON ON THE REMOTE KEY FOB, WHICH INCREASES THE PROBABILITY OF THEFT AND BREAK-INS. IT APPEARS THAT HONDA CONTINUED TO USE THE DEFECTIVE ACTUATOR SINCE 2008, YET CUSTOMERS ARE BEING TOLD THAT A "FIX" IS IN THE WORKS, 7 YEARS LATER. AMERICAN HONDA HAS ADVISED HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENTS TO NOT REPLACE THE ACTUATOR AS IT IS LIKELY THAT THE REPLACEMENT ACTUATOR WILL PRESENT THE SAME GRINDING NOISE. A REGIONAL CASE MANAGER ALSO ASSURED ME THAT A "FIX" WAS IN THE WORKS BUT DID NOT COMMENT WHEN I POINTED OUT THAT HONDA CONTINUED TO USE A DEFECTIVE PART FROM 2008-2014.
