AFTER DRIVING MY NEW CAR FOR 20,000 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS WHILE DRIVING. I NOTICE SHIFTING FROM D TO N THEN TRANSMISSION MAKES SHAKING NOICES. NOTICE THERE ARE ISSUES WITH SOLENOIDS TOO. THE SHIFT D KEEPS FLASHING AND THERE IS A CODE ERROR THAT KEEPS COMMING P0977. EVEN THOUGHT I KEEP MY SUV'S MAINTANCE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, I KEEP GETTING TRANSMISSION SHUTTLE ISSUES. IN ADDITION, THE A/C STOP WORKING WHILE MY SUV HAS ONLY 95,000 MILES
I NOTICED A RATTLING NOISE DURING COLD STARTS FROM THE ENGINE THAT CONTINUED WELL INTO THE SUMMER. I REPORTED IT TO MY HONDA DEALER (BILL PAGE/FALLS CHURCH, VA) AND REFERRED TO THE WELL DOCUMENTED VTC ACTUATOR PROBLEM REPORTED ON THE INTERNET BASED ON VIDEO AND AUDIO SIMILARITIES IN THE NOISES I WAS HEARING. THE DEALER BEING AWARE OF THE PROBLEM REFRAINED FROM ANY INVESTIGATION OR CORRECTION UNTIL THEY RECEIVED A CORRECTIVE SOLUTION FROM HONDA. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO HONDA AMERICA AND THE DEALER LATER IN 2015 AFTER MY HONDA DEALER TECHNICIAN REPTD NO SOLUTION HAS COME FROM HONDA. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM HONDA REGARDING MY COMPLAINT SUGGESTING THE VTC ACTUATOR PROBLEM IS LIMITED TO ALASKA AND I SHOULD MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY DEALER TO INVESTIGATE. AS A RESULT TO A SWITCH TO SYNTHETIC OIL AT THE DEALER THE NOISE SEEMS TO HAVE GONE. UNFORTUNATELY THIS DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM HAS NOT DAMAGED THE ENGINE OR WON'T REAPPEAR IF I DECIDE TO RETURN TO CONVENTIONAL OIL. THE OFFICIAL POSITION BY HONDA VS. THE DEALER SEEMS TO PROMOTE A STAND-OFF TO COMPENSATE FOR A LACK OF A FULLY RELIABLE SOLUTION IN THAT THE DEALER IS TOLD NOT TO INITIATE REPAIRS FOR THIS PROBLEM UNTIL A SOLUTION IS DISTRIBUTED BY HONDA WHILE HONDA CLAIMS THE PROBLEM IS NOT UNIVERSAL AND IS TRYING TO MINIMIZE ITS SCOPE; LEAVING CONSUMERS IN THE MIDDLE TRYING TO MAKE THEIR CRVS OR OTHER MODEL HONDAS RELIABLE WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I WILL CONTINUE PURSUIT OF A FIX WITH HONDA AMERICA BUT FEEL NHTSA SHOULD PRESSURE HONDA TO ADDRESS THIS WELL KNOWN AND PUBLICIZED FAULT WITH SOME SORT OF PERMANENT FIX. FOR A MANUFACTURER WHO CLAIMS THEIR VEHICLES ARE HIGHLY RELIABLE HONDA APPARENT DECEPTION REGARDING THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND I HOPE NHTSA FORCES THIS ACTION TO OCCUR. I ALSO PROVIDED NHTSA WITH A COPY OF MY 7/25/15 LETTER TO AMERICAN HONDA.
AWFUL GRINDING NOISE AT A COLD START NO MATTER WHAT THE WEATHER IS. CAR IS IN MID ATLANTIC REGION. EACH START COMES WITH A GRINDING NOISE. MECHANIC CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. NONE OF MY OTHER CARS NOT MAKE SUCH A HORRENDOUS NOISE AT START UP. THIS SOUND WAS NOTICED NOT LONG AFTER THE CAR WAS PURCHASED LATE 2014.
WHEN PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT RELEASED, THERE WAS NO BRAKE LIGHT AND NO BEEPER SOUNDS (ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL, I CHECKED LATER). *TR
LETTER FROM SENATOR BOOKER ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE THE REMOVAL OF TAKATA AIRBAGS IN 2013 HONDA CR-V (ATTN: CONSTITUENT SERVICES). *SMD THE CONSUMER WOULD LIKE ALL OF THE AIR BAGS REPLACED IN THE VEHICLE. *JB
AS I REPORTED LAST YEAR, THERE IS A VTC ACTUATOR DESIGN FLAW THAT CREATES A GRINDING NOISE WHEN THE TEMPS FALL BELOW FREEZING AND IN SOME CASES EVEN ABOVE FREEZING MAINLY DUE TO LACK OF OIL PRESSURE AND THE ACTUATOR NOT LOCKING CORRECTLY. WELL, ANOTHER WINTER HAS COME AND GONE AND THERE IS STILL NO HINT OF A FIX FROM HONDA. THEY CLAIM THERE IS NO DAMAGE OCCURRING BUT ANY TIME I HEAR METAL ON METAL I BEG TO DIFFER. UNFORTUNATELY AT THIS POINT I AM LOOKING AT OPTIONS SUCH AS TRADING THE VEHICLE IN AS I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF SERIOUS DAMAGE IS BEING DONE EACH WINTER WITH METAL ON METAL GRINDING. HONDA SURE HAS LOST THEIR PRESTIGIOUS CLAIM OF RELIABILITY IN MY EYES. SADLY THIS WILL BE MY LAST HONDA PRODUCT AS THEY DON'T SEEM TO ADDRESS CUSTOMER CONCERNS IN ANY KIND OF TIMELY MANNER. *TR
FROM A STOP. I SPEED UP TO ABOUT 30 MPH AND FEEL A DRAG AND SHIMMY AT THAT SPEED, THEN IT GOES AWAY. THE PROBLEM ONLY OCCURS AT 30 MPH, I HAVE WATCHED YOU-TUBE FOR POSSIBLE TROUBLES.
THERE ARE TWO CONCERNS. 1. THE IGNITION KEY BECOMES EXTREMELY HOT, ALMOST BURNING TEMPERATURE WHEN HELD IN BARE HAND. THERE SEEMS NO CORRELATIONS TO THE LENGTH OF TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN OR THE OUTSIDE CONDITIONS. THIA DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. 2. BOTH MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF HAVE RECEIVED PAINFUL "STATIC ELECTRIC" SHOCKS WHEN ENTERING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE. THIS CAN HAPPEN EVEN IN WARM WEATHER. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT THE SHOCKING AND THAT THE KEY GETTING HOT IS NOT A PROBLEM.
2013 HONDA CRV WITH 27,000 MILES HAS BEEN MAKING GRINDING NOISES WHEN STARTING THE ENGINE IN COLD WEATHER. THIS STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND WAS NOT HAPPENING EACH TIME. IT SEEMS TEMPERATURE RELATED. WE CALLED OUR DEALER WHO SAID THIS PROBLEM WAS KNOWN BY HONDA AND THAT HONDA WAS WORKING ON IT AND WE WOULD BE CONTACTED BY THE DEALER ONCE HONDA HAD A SOLUTION. THEY SEEMED TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM AND ADMITTED THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS HAD CALLED WITH EXACTLY THE SAME COMPLAINT. FROM WHAT WE HAVE SEEN ONLINE, THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A WHILE AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RESOLUTION FROM HONDA. IN THE MEANTIME, BECAUSE OIL IS NOT GETTING TO THIS PART IN THE STARTER, WE CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT THIS PART IS BEING WORN DOWN. THIS PROBLEM IS KNOWN BY HONDA YET IT APPEARS NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO REPLACE THE PART. THIS SEEMS LIKE A PROBLEM THAT WOULD REQUIRE A RECALL. WE WILL CONTINUE TO CONTACT OUR DEALER HERE IN BEND, OREGON, SO THAT WE CAN KEEP OUR CONCERN DOCUMENTED AND ON THE TABLE.
ON THE FIRST START OF THE DAY, ESPECIALLY COLD DAYS, THE ENGINE MAKES A LOUD GRINDING/RATTLING NOISE. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THAT THERE ISN'T A FIX FOR THE ISSUE. IT CLAIMS THAT IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND DOESN'T HURT THE ENGINE. ACCORDING TO THEM, THE OIL DRAINS FROM THE PART OVERNIGHT AND THE "NOISE" IS CAUSED BY LACK OF OIL TO THAT PART. AS SOON AS THE PART GETS OIL IT STOPS. (ABOUT 2-3 SECONDS) ACCORDING TO RESEARCH I'VE DONE ON THE INTERNET, THE ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR SEVERAL YEARS WITHOUT A FIX AND IS SOMEWHAT COMMON. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN APRIL AND DIDN'T EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM UNTIL LATE FALL. IT TOOK ME MONTHS TO PROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM.SHAME ON HONDA. I'VE OWNED HONDA CARS AND HAVE BEEN LOYAL TO HONDA FOR 25 YEARS, BUT NO LONGER.
A YEAR AGO I NOTICED AT TIMES A NOISE LIKE I AM TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE WITH IT ALREADY RUNNING. THE OTHER DAY ON INITIAL START IT MADE A LOUDER NOISE. THE BEST I CAN TELL IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VTC ACTUATOR.
ON 9/23/14 30000 MILE CHECK UP PERFORMED AT DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR. ON 10/14/14 IN HEAVY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC I ACCELERATED TO PASS A CAR ON INTERSTATE 4; VEHICLE HICCUPED AND LOST POWER; ABLE TO GO TO SHOULDER OF THE ROAD ACROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC; TURNED VEHICLE OFF THEN ON AGAIN; VEHICLE STARTED WITHOUT HESITATION. DROVE CAR TO DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT; THEY CHECKED IT OUT; SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG; HOWEVER, THEY RAN A COMPUTER UPDATE FOR THE ALTERNATING SYSTEM STATING THAT THEY "THINK" PROBLEM IS SOLVED. CONTACTED HONDA REGIONAL; THEY AUTHORIZED AN INSPECTION AT A DIFFERENT HONDA DEALERSHIP ON 11/12/14. I WAS AGAIN TOLD THAT THEY COULD FIND NO REASON THAT THE VEHICLE LOST POWER; AT THAT POINT, HONDA REGIONAL TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING MORE THEY CAN DO. I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS ANSWER. AT WORK, FINISHED MY SHIFT, MOVE CAR TO EXIT, TURN CAR OFF WENT IN SWIPE MY CARD GET IN CAR PUT KEY IN TO START AND CAR ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER, ALL LIGHTS LIGHTS ON IN CAR, WINDOWS WORKS BUT BATTERY WOULDN'T START...THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES AT WORK, I HAD TO JUMP START, ENGINE STARTS UP AT FIRST TURN OVER...MY CAR HAVE A VERY RATTLES SOUND WHEN I PUT KEY IN TO START AT ALL TIMES, IS LIKE I EXCEED THE TURNING POINT BUT I DON'T. AT THE STATIONARY POSITION, HEARD A LOUD GRINDING SOUND WHEN I START THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 1-2 SECONDS.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM INDEPENDENCE HONDA IN BLOOMSBURG, PA. IT WAS A SATURDAY CLOSE TO CLOSING TIME. THE SALESMAN AND HIS BOSS WERE EAGER TO MAKE THE SALE, AND SAID IF YOU SIGN THE PAPERS TODAY, NAME YOUR PRICE. ALL ALONG KNOWING ABOUT THE HEADLIGHT ISSUE/DEFECT! I NOT KNOWING ABOUT THE HEADLIGHTS, MADE THE DEAL AND PAID IN FULL. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY I COMPLAINED ABOUT A RATTLE AND TOLD THEM TO ADJUST THE HEADLIGHTS. THEY FIXED THE RATTLE AND SAID THE HEADLIGHTS WERE WITHIN SPECS OR SPECIFICATIONS! I WOULD JUST HAVE TO GET USED TO THEM! STILL DIDN'T LIKE THE INSUFFICIENT VISIBILITY SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THIS MECHANIC SAID THE INTERNET IS LOADED WITH PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT HONDA'S HEADLIGHTS. HE SUGGESTED I CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP. THE SAME DAY I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER. HE SAID, "WHEN THE HIGH BEAMS ARE ON, THE LOW BEAMS ARE OFF, THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS." HE ALSO SAID, "THE LIGHTS ARE NOT THE SAME AS ON A GMC VEHICLE." AGAIN WAS TOLD - "GET USED TO IT!" MY COMPLAINT - THE HEADLIGHTS DON'T PROVIDE ADEQUATE LIGHTING. IT IS MOST DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE! IT IS A DEFECT THAT IS NOT BEING CORRECTED. DOES THERE HAVE TO BE DEATHS BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE? CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT RECOURSE IS AVAILABLE FOR ME TO GET PROPER HEADLIGHTS? HONDA IS GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CR-V. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES FOR THE FIRST TIME EACH DAY, A GRINDING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE REAR BRAKES AND THEN THE GRINDING NOISE WOULD CEASE UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE EVENTUALLY PROGRESSED TO WHERE THE GRINDING NOISE WAS PRESENT THE FIRST THREE TIMES THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THEN THE NOISE WOULD STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE NOISE WAS CAUSED BY RUST BUILD UP BEHIND THE REAR ROTORS. THE ROTORS WERE CLEANED AND THE FAILURE WAS SOLVED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,900.
REAR BRAKES STARTED MAKING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN FIRST TIME APPLIED EACH MORNING. SLOWLY CONDITION KEPT GETTING WORSE, BUT AFTER NO MORE THAN THREE APPLICATIONS OF BRAKES, CONDITION CEASES FOR THAT DAY ONLY TO RE APPEAR THE NEXT DAY. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT JUST BE A COLD WEATHER CONDITION. HOWEVER, HAVING JUST RETURNED FROM SOUTHERN FLORIDA FOR SIX WEEKS WITH THE CONDITION CONTINUING, I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER UPON MY RETURN ON MARCH 12, 2015. THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS A NORMAL SERVICE CONDITION CAUSED BY RUST BUILD UP BEHIND THE ROTORS AND NEEDED TO CLEAN THE BRAKES EVERY 20,000 MILES. I TOLD THEM I HAVE OWNED NUMEROUS CARS IN THE LAST 60 YEARS PUTTING OVER 100 K MILES ON SEVERAL AND NEVER HEARD OF THIS CONDITION. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATION HOTLINE AND THEY WOULD NOT CONFIRM OR DENY THIS TO BE A SERVICE CONDITION. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2013 HONDA CR-V NEW ON FEBRUARY 8, 2013. TODAY THE RIGHT SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. BECAUSE OF A HISTORY OF PROBLEMS WITH HEADLIGHTS ON PREVIOUSLY OWNED CR-VS, I AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO WHAT'S AHEAD WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS CAR. I HAVE OWNED A NEW 1997 CRV, AND A NEW 2006 CRV. IN BOTH PREVIOUS VEHICLES, WHICH WERE PURCHASED NEW AND TRADED WITH OVER 250K MILES ON EACH, I HAD RECURRING PROBLEMS WITH HEADLIGHTS CONSTANTLY GOING OUT, OFTEN ONE WITHIN DAYS OF THE OTHER, AND ESPECIALLY WITH THE 2006 CRV, EVERY 3 TO 4 MONTHS. I WENT TO SEVERAL HONDA DEALERSHIPS ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND WAS ALWAYS TOLD THAT THERE WAS RECALL OR PERSISTENT PROBLEM. I COMMUTE 120 MILES ROUNDTRIP DAILY FOR WORK, AND I WORK IN A RURAL AREA, COVERING 6 VERY RURAL COUNTIES. SOMETIMES MY HEADLIGHT WOULD GO OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON DARK, 2 LANE RURAL HIGHWAYS. IN THE 2006 VEHICLE, MY HEADLIGHTS WERE GOING OUT SO FREQUENTLY THAT I STARTED BUYING 2 BULBS AT A TIME SO THAT I ALWAYS HAD A BACK UP BULB. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD THAT HONDA HAS APPARENTLY AVOIDED FIXING OVER THE YEARS. I AM AWARE OF THE OWNER BLOGS FOR CRV-S WHERE MANY HONDA CRV OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS. I HAVE PUT FAMILY MEMBERS ON NOTICE THAT IF I AM INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN MY CAR AT NIGHT AND CANNOT SPEAK FOR MYSELF, THEY SHOULD PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO WHETHER MY HEADLIGHTS WERE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. IN ADDITION, ON THIS 2013 CRV, NEITHER THE LOW BEAM NOR THE HIGH BEAM HEAD LIGHTS SEEM BRIGHT ENOUGH AT NIGHT. ALTHOUGH I LOVE THE CR-V OTHERWISE, BECAUSE OF THIS PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHTS THAT I BELIEVE HONDA IS AWARE OF AND HAS CHOSEN NOT TO REPAIR, THIS WILL VERY LIKELY BE THE LAST HONDA THAT I PURCHASE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD, AND I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF THERE IS EVENTUALLY A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST HONDA BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
Driver side doesn’t blow hot air. Especially, in winter it has been a problem with fogging windows and windshield. It is very unsafe because of very poor visibility. I see this has been a very common issue with many Honda CRV vehicles. Hope NHTSA will take this seriously. Thank you.
AT A 10 MPH COAST I START TO ACCELERATE SLOWLY AND THE ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT WILL STALL. THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE, THE RPM DOES NOT CHANGE WITH MOVEMENT OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I HAVE TO ROCK THE PEDAL TWO TO THREE TIMES TO GET THE ENGINE TO RESPOND AND ACCELERATE WITH THE TRAFFIC. THIS IS A CONTINUING PROBLEM THAT THE DEALER ON 2 OCCASIONS HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DETECT AND CORRECT I HAVE COME CLOSE TO BEING HIT FROM THE REAR TWICE. THE HONDA DEALER'S EXPLANATION IS THE TRANSMISSION IS WAITING FOR THE COMPUTER TO TELL IT TO " UP OR DOWNSHIFT. " IF THAT WERE THE CASE, THE RPM WOULD CHANGE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS PRESSED . . *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
WHEN I START THE ENGINE IN THE MORNING (COLD), IT MAKES A WHIRRING/GRATING SOUND THAT LASTS JUST A COUPLE OF SECONDS. IT DOESN'T MAKE THIS SOUND AGAIN ALL DAY, EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE SITS FOR 8+ HOURS. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S TEMPERATURE-DEPENDENT.
VEHICLE WAS 14 MONTHS OLD AND WAS DRIVEN EVERY 1-2 DAYS. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AFTER A CALIPER "FROZE" TO THE RIGHT REAR ROTOR AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT IN THE GARAGE. DEALER REPORTED THAT ALL FOUR ROTORS WERE HEAVILY OXIDIZED AND KEPT INSISTING THAT THE CAR MUST HAVE BEEN SITTING FOR MANY WEEKS OR MONTHS. DEALER CLAIMED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKE PADS AND ONLY RESURFACED THE ROTORS. DEALER REPEATEDLY MADE FALSE CLAIM ABOUT HONDA MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENT THAT THE ROTORS BE CLEANED EVERY YEAR. *TR

WE TRADED IN A 2005 HONDA CRV FOR A 2013 HONDA CRV. THE 2005 WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AT 70,000 MILES. THE 2013 STARTED WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE 2005 AFTER OWNING IT FOR 1 1/2 YEARS. THE CAR WOULD SHAKE AND VIBRATE BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. I DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM THE SAME WAYS I DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM IN THE 2005 CRV. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD US IT WOULD HAVE TO GET WORSE. LAST MONTH IT GOT WORSE: IT WOULD HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES PER DAY. THE SHAKING WAS SO VIOLENT FOR UP TO 10 SECONDS THAT I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT. THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THREE WEEKS AND WAS FINALLY DIAGNOSED WITH A TORQUE CONVERSION DEFECT. TODAY I FOUND OUT THAT HONDA MOTOR COMPANY HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE SHAKING PROBLEM GOING BACK TO 2002. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED ANY BULLETINS BECAUSE IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THEY HAD A YOU TUBE VIDEO ABOUT IT. IT APPEARS NOW THAT THE 2005 CRV WE TRADED IN ACTUALLY HAD A TORQUE CONVERSION PROBLEM, NOT A BAD TRANSMISSION. I PAID AND EXTRA $18,000 FOR A CAR THAT I DIDN'T NEED. WE WERE DRIVING ON I-81, HAD TO SLOW DOWN IN LEFT LANE FOR TRAFFIC. ACCELERATOR FAILED WHEN WE TRIED TO RESUME SPEED. "ECON" MODE ON. NOT SURE HOW MUCH WE HAD SLOWED BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO RETURN TO HIGHWAY SPEED. IT WAS 3 - 5 SECONDS OR MORE BEFORE ACCELERATOR "UNLOCKED." SAME RESPONSE IN SIMILAR SITUATIONS OCCURRED A TOTAL OF 13 TIMES. DIFFERENT SPEEDS, SLOW CITY ROADS OR INTERSTATES, GOING STRAIGHT OR IN A TURN, ALWAYS UNEXPECTED, MOSTLY WITHIN A MONTH'S TIME BUT SOMETIMES AFTER A MUCH LONGER INTERVAL. WEATHER ALWAYS GOOD. LAST EVENT WAS ON APRIL 25, 2015 (LAST WEEK) WITH MILEAGE AT 7,000. HAVE NOT USED ECON MODE SINCE JUNE 11, 2014. THE HEATER SEEMS TO BE OVERHEATING AND MELTING MY VENTS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO HONDA, AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A HEATER TO GET THAT HOT. ON COLD DAYS AT FIRST START UP THE ENGINE MAKES A GRINDING NOISE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR ACCORDS AND CR-V SINCE 2008. HONDA HAS ISSUED A BULLETIN SAYING IT'S THE VTC ACTUATOR BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO PERMANENT FIX OR RECALL ON DEFECTIVE PART(S). GRINDING NOISE CAN BE SPORADIC SO ONLY IF DEALER CAN REPLICATE ISSUE WILL THEY REPLACE THE ACTUATOR AND EVEN THEN GRINDING NOISE CAN RETURN WEEKS OR MONTHS LATER WHEN IT GETS COLD AGAIN (I,E, EVERY WINTER). FOR A PROBLEM THAT HAS EXISTED FOR SO MANY YEARS, THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A PERMANENT FIX BY NOW. ESPECIALLY FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. I STARTED TO NOTICE A CROAKING (SOUNDS LIKE A FROG) NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN LIGHTLY ACCELERATING FROM A STOP IN DRIVE OR REVERSE AND RIGHT BEFORE I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR A YEAR, WHICH I PURCHASED NEW AND THIS SOUND STARTED AFTER 11 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM TONY HONDA BRAND NEW, FROM THE TIME I STARTED DRIVING THE CAR, THE SPEED CONTROL WOULD STALL. DURING WINTER MONTHS AT FREEZING AND BELOW PART # 110153 VARIABLE TIMING CONTROL, VTC ACTUATOR MALFUNCTIONS. AT THE FIRST START UP THE VEHICLE MAKES A GRINDING NOISE (METAL UPON METAL). THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY THE ORIGINATING DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY IN CRV-S WHEN THE TEMPERATURE FALLS AT OR FREEZING THAT THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. THE ENGINE WON'T FREEZE UP NOR WILL THERE BE ANY DAMAGE TO THE POWER TRAIN? THE PART IN QUESTION IS UNABLE (AT LOW TEMPERATURES) TO PUSH OIL UP INTO THE ENGINE UPON INITIAL COLD START-UP IN THE MORNINGS . THIS WAS HOW IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME BY THE DEALER. WHEN I ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE WHO WAS AT THE STORE WHEN THE DEALER REPLACED THE PART ON 11 NOVEMBER, 2014 (AND WITHIN LESS THAN 24 HOURS IT FAILED) I WAS NEVER ALLOWED TO DO SO. I LIVED WITH THIS ALL OF LAST WINTER AND NOW THIS WINTER AS WELL OR SO IT APPEARS. I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE ON SEVERAL 2013 HONDA CR-V'S SOLD IN STATES WHERE THE CLIMATE IS FREEZING OR BELOW. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT A FIX WAS IN THE WORKS BY HONDA. WELL A FIX HAS BEEN IN THE WORKS NOW SINCE AT LEAST FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR 2014 AND NOTHING HAS BEEN ACHIEVED. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER TO CALL HONDA CUSTOMER RELATIONS. THE DEALER WIPED THEIR HANDS OF THE SITUATION. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT THERE WILL NOT BE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE ( AND POSSIBLY CAUSE IT TO FREEZE UP WHILE ON THE ROAD) POTENTIALLY CAUSING A SERIOUS HAZARD/ACCIDENT. WHILE DRIVING ON A SNOWY ROAD, APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE. BRAKE PEDAL WOULD ONLY PUSH IN PART WAY AND CLICKED LOUDLY. CAR DID NOT RESPOND AT ALL TO BRAKE PEDAL BEING PUSHED. I TRIED REPEATEDLY TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT WAS MET WITH ONLY VERY LOUD CLICKING, PEDAL DID NOT APPEAR TO GO IN AS FAR AS NORMAL AND NO RESPONSE FROM CAR WHATSOEVER BY SLOWING DOWN. DEBATED WHETHER TO PUSH PARKING BRAKE IN OR TRY PUTTING CAR INTO LOWER GEAR WHEN I BRAKED YET AGAIN AND FINALLY CAR RESPONDED. BRAKING WAS OBVIOUS AND IMMEDIATE. I WENT BACK TO THE SAME STRETCH OF ROAD AND ATTEMPTED TO RECREATE PROBLEM, BUT CAR CLICKED QUIETLY AND BRAKED IMMEDIATELY. ON THE SECOND, HE WAS EXITING A BUSY I-95 AND GOING AROUND 55 MPH. THE FULL FORCE PANIC STOP ISSUED BY THE SUPPLEMENTAL BRAKE PRACTICALLY STOPPED HIS MATRON. IT FLAT-SPOTTED ALL OF THE TIRES. THE CONSUMER NOTIFIED BLUE OX, OF THE INCIDENT. THEY AGREED TO ALLOW HIM TO RETURN THE BRAKING SYSTEM FOR AN EVALUATION TO DETERMINE WHY THE INCIDENTS MIGHT HAVE OCCURRED. DRIVING THE CAR DAY AFTER SNOW STORM. WIND SHIELD/REAR WINDOW COVERED WITH HEAVY LAYER OF SALT/DIRT. NO FLUID WOULD COME OUT OF WINDSHIELD WASHER NOZZLES/REAR WINDOW NOZZLES. WINDSHIELD WAS COVERED WITH SO MUCH SALT THAT DRIVING VISIBILITY WAS VERY LIMITED. THE NOZZLES WORKED BRIEFLY AFTER THE CAR WAS EXPOSED TO SUNLIGHT. ONCE THE SUN WENT DOWN, THE NOZZLES NO LONGER WORKED. THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID/LINE APPEARED TO BE FROZEN. IT HAS BEEN VERY COLD WHERE WE LIVE AND 5 DAYS LATER NO WINDSHIELD/REAR WINDOW WASHER FLUID WILL SPRAY OUT OF NOZZLES.THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND MAKES DRIVING VISIBILITY VERY DANGEROUS. HONDA CORP.AND DEALERS KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON 2012 TO 2017 MODELS AND IS AVOIDING ANY RECALL OR OFFER TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A MAJOR ROAD (NOT A SMALL BACK ROAD) WHEN I HEARD A SOUND LIKE A GUNSHOT. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A LARGE HOLE IN MY SUNROOF, WITH SPIDERWEB CRACKING COMING OUT FROM THE HOLE. THE GLASS WAS FLEXED UPWARDS AND CREATED A DOME-LIKE EFFECT. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE 2 HOURS HOME AND IMMEDIATELY WENT TO A LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE MAN TOOK PICTURES AND PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT IF SOMETHING HAD FALLEN ONTO THE SUNROOF, THE GLASS WOULD'VE CRASHED INTO THE CAR, NOT FLEXED UP AND OUT LIKE MINE DID. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE SERVICE MAN CALLED AND SAID AFTER SENDING HONDA THE PICTURES, THEY DECIDED I MUST'VE DAMAGED THE SUNROOF SOMEHOW, CAUSING IT TO CRACK, MEANING HONDA WOULD NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. I THEN PROCEEDED TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE BRAND NEW CAR 6 MONTHS AGO. IN TALKING TO THE SALES MANAGER, HE TOLD ME THAT IF I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, IT WOULD BE NEAR IMPOSSIBLE FOR SOMETHING TO FALL ON MY SUNROOF TO CAUSE A DAMAGE. IT WOULD'VE HIT MY WINDSHIELD, OR JUST FLOWN OVER MY CAR. HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO AND I COULD CALL HONDA DIRECTLY. I DID. MY CASE REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDED TO "LOOK INTO IT", WHICH ENTAILED A MUMBLING MAN TELLING ME HE MAY OR MAY NOT GET BACK TO MY CLAIM BY JANUARY 21ST. WHEN I HEARD BACK FROM THEM, HE HAD CALLED THE FIRST DEALERSHIP AND THEN REPORTED THAT THEY FELT LIKE THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE SUNROOF, MEANING HONDA STILL WOULDN'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. HONDA HAS JERKED ME AROUND FROM PERSON TO PERSON, WHILE HAVING ME DRIVE AROUND IN MY NEW CAR WITH A GAPING HOLE IN THE SUNROOF THAT IS SHATTERING GLASS EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. THEIR SERVICE MEN HAVE TOLD ME ONE THING, AND THE CORPORATION AS A WHOLE IS SAYING SOMETHING ELSE. AFTER A QUICK WEB-SEARCH, THERE HAVE BEEN MANY OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING ON HONDAS, AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
BATTERY WAS GOING DEAD PERIODICALLY. THOUGHT I WAS LEAVING A LIGHT ON OR DOOR OPEN. TOLD THE HONDA DEALER TO CHECK THE BATTERY WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THEY NEVER CHECKED IT. DIDNT EVEN PUT THAT I ASKED TO CHECK IT. OUT OF WARRANTY BATTERY WENT DEAD. DID A CHECK AT AUTOZONE THEY SAID IT WAS THE ALTENATOR. CHANGED ALTENATOR STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. VOLTAGE REGULATOR. UPON INITIAL STARTUP OF THE ENGINE THERE IS A GRINDING SOUND. THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE HAS ONLY OCCURRED TWICE AND HARD TO REPLICATE UNLESS IT'S VERY COLD. AT FIRST IT SOUNDED LIKE A STARTER ISSUE, BUT OTHERS HAVE SAID IT'S THE VTC ACTUATOR AND AN OIL PRESSURE ISSUE WHEN IT'S COLD OUTSIDE. EVEN THOUGH MY CAR IS GARAGED IT HAS OCCURRED TWICE IN TWO WEEKS SO IT IS A CONCERN. DEALERSHIP WILL NOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS THEY CAN REPLICATE IT. 2013 HONDA CR-V. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE TPMS SYSTEM ISSUES. *SMD APPROXIMATELY, 4 1/2 MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE CONSUMER BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TPMS. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES. ON JANUARY 18, 2014 THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR TPMS SENSORS, BUT THAT EVENING THE TPMS LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN AND HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY COMING ON SINCE THAT TIME. ALSO, THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE, THAT OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY AFTER START-UP. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *JB
TAKEN TO LANCASTER, CA HONDA AND THEY SAID FRONT ROTORS HAVE BECOME WARPED/HEATED. NEED TO RESURFACE ROTORS AND CLEAN AND RE-LUBE FRONT BRAKES PADS. FRONT BRAKE PADS AT 7MM. HAVING UNDER TWENTY THOUSAND MILES, WAS TOLD THIS WOULD COST ME $120.00. I FEEL THIS HAS A DEFECTIVE BRAKING SYSTEM AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY HONDA, NOT CHARGED TO THE CUSTOMER. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2013 HONDA CR-V VEHICLE A FEW MONTHS AGO. I HAVE NOTICE THAT THE SUN VISORS ARE TOO SHORT. I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP SEVERAL TIMES AT SUN RISE AND SUN SET BECAUSE I WAS BLINDED BY THE SUN. I HAVE OWNED A HONDA VAN AND A TOYOTA CARE AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WHERE I LIVE. I CALLED THE HONDA DEALER IN FRANKFORT, KY AND THEY SAID NO ONE ELSE WAS HAVING THE PROBLEM. I CALL HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE (NATION WIDE) AND THEY SAID NO ONE HAD REPORTED THE PROBLEM AND WANTED ME TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER IN FRANKFORT. I WENT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND TRIED TO USE AFTER MARKET SOLUTION WHICH IS A VISOR EXTENDER. I AM 5' 8" TALL. I WOULD NEED TO BE OVER 6 FEET IN ORDER FOR THE VISORS TO BE EFFECTIVE. IT EITHER A LOW SEAT PROBLEM OR A VISOR PROBLEM. YOU DON'T NOTICE THIS WHEN YOU FIRST DRIVE THE CAR.
