RE: 2014 HONDA CR-V ~ POWER TAILGATE OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY, HONDA PART NO. 74810-T0A-A02; HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN16-063 ISSUE: POWER TAILGATE WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: WE PURCHASED A 2014 HONDA CRV USED FROM A LOCAL HONDA DEALER IN 2020. NOT LONG AFTER THE PURCHASE, WE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS OPENING THE TAILGATE WHICH IS DESIGNED TO OPEN WITH THE KEY FOB. FREQUENTLY, THE BUTTON UNDER THE TAILGATE LIFT DOES NOT ACTIVATE AND THE TAILGATE WILL NOT OPEN. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER IF THE WEATHER IS COLD OR NOT. WE ARE PRESENTLY UNABLE TO CONVENIENTLY ACCESS 32.9 CUBIC FEET OF SPACE BEHIND THE SECOND ROW OF SEATS DUE TO THE FAULTY TAILGATE OPENER. THE SECOND ROW OF SEATS MUST FIRST BE LOWERED BEFORE GROCERIES, PETS, ETC. CAN BE PLACED INTO THAT REAR CARGO AREA. THIS PRESENTS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. IF WE WERE TO BE INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS AUTO ACCIDENT, FIRST RESPONDERS MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE TAILGATE TO ACCESS THE REAR CARGO AREA IF IT WERE NECESSARY TO EXTRACT OCCUPANTS. WE RESEARCHED THIS TAILGATE OPENER PROBLEM ONLINE AND LEARNED THAT MANY HONDA CRV OWNERS HAVE POSTED ONLINE COMMENTS REFLECTING THEY HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THIS PROBLEM. SOME CLAIMED THEY HAD THE SWITCH REPLACED EITHER UNDER WARRANTY OR NOT, AND STILL EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. WE WERE AMAZED AT THE NUMBER OF POSTINGS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS BIGGER THAN OUR 2014 HONDA CRV. IT IS APPARENT THAT THE OEM EQUIPMENT SWITCH ASSEMBLY INSTALLED BY HONDA IS FAULTY. WE FEEL THAT HONDA SHOULD OFFER A VOLUNTARY RECALL TO ALL HONDA CRV OWNERS WHO HAVE BEEN IMPACTED BY THIS FAULTY SWITCH ASSEMBLY. WE PLAN TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WITH OUR CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVE AND OTHER FEDERAL AGENCIES TO ENSURE THAT HAPPENS. ENGINE MAKES A RATTLING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING. EVERY SINGLE TIME THE ACCELERATOR IS BEING PUSHED, I HEAR A RATTLE. I AM JUST COMING BACK FROM THE LOCAL MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THAT THIS COULD BE SOMETHING RELATED TO ENGINE AND IS GOING TO COST 2000 OR MORE AND JUST DID A OIL TREATMENT TO THE ENGINE JUST TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP BEFORE DOING AN OPEN HEART SURGERY(MESSING WITH ENGINE). I HOPE HONDA COMES BACK AND FIXES THIS PROBLEM AS IT IS SO COMMON WITH SO MANY OF THEIR 2014 HONDA CRVS.
HIGH PITCH NOISE WHILE DRIVING. DRIVE SHAFT HAD TO BE REPLACED.
I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MY CRV THAT MY AUTO IS SHAKING WHILE I'M DRIVING UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION. I VISITED 2 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS OF HONDA DEALERSHIP. THEY BOTH ASKED ME TO HAVE DIAGNOSIS.ALTHOUGH I KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. SO, I GOT DIAGNOSIS FROM HONDA IN FALLS CHURCH, VA. THEY VERIFIED MY CONCERN THAT TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDS TO PERFORM TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSH AND TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPDATE. MY CONCERN IS MY AUTO MILEAGE IS NOW OVER 82K SO I'M NOT AVAILABLE TO HAVE THE SERVICE UNDER WARRANTY. I HEARD THAT MANY CRV OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. I HOPE I COULD GET THE SERVICE UNDER WARRANTY
PURCHASED VEHICLE FROM MY MOTHER-IN-LAW. SHE HAD NOTICED THE RATTLING SOUND BUT HER MECHANIC SAID HIS DID THE SAME THING AND NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. WE IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT VEHICLE GRINDS ON COLD STARTUP. IS STARTING TO RATTLE A LITTLE ON ACCELERATION. CALLED MY HONDA DEALER, TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $1000 TO REPLACE THE VTC ACTUATOR. HE ALSO SAID THAT IT WOULD EVENTUALLY HAPPEN AGAIN, AND THAT IT DOESN'T HARM THE ENGINE SO WE SHOULDN'T WORRY ABOUT IT. RESEARCHING ONLINE UNCOVERED A SERVICE BULLETIN (09-010) FOR CRV'S UP THROUGH 2013, BUT NOT COVERING 2014. HONDA IS NOT SOLVING THEIR ENGINEERING PROBLEM AND ARE MAKING THE CONSUMER PAY FOR IT.
ENGINE LOST POWER AND SEIZED WHILE TRAVELING ON RURAL ROUTE. LOCAL MECHANIC SAID GASOLINE HAD LEAKED INTO ENGINE AND HAD IT TOWED TO URSE HONDA IN BRIDGEPORT, WV. URSE ESTIMATED $9,000 IN REPAIRS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATER WAS ACTIVATED AND FAILED TO PRODUCE ADEQUATE HEAT THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE WAS COLD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BROWN'S HONDA CITY USED CARS (7154 RITCHIE HWY SUITE 100, GLEN BURNIE, MD 410) 760-6561) WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE HEATER WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,000.
THE SUNROOF HAS RUST ALONG THE PANELING AREA THAT I CAN SEE. NOT SURE WHEN THE RUST DEVELOPED, I'M SURE WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION.
PAINT IS PEELING ON THE REAR SPOILER
I PURCHASED A 2014 HONDA CRV WITH 13,000 MILES ON IN, A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED IT AT 31,000 MILES THE VTC ACTUATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED AS IT WOULD MAKE A GRINDING NOISE ON START-UP. IT HAS BEEN 2 YEARS AND I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE NOISE AND ONLY HAVE 65K MILES ON IT. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE IN HONDA FORUMS AND THE PART IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE OR THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH IT AS THERE IS A SAFETY BULLETIN ISSUED, BUT NO RECALL YET.
VEHICLE GRINDS ON COLD STARTUP, EVERY SINGLE TIME. VEHICLE ALSO RATTLES ON ACCELERATION. TOOK IT TO MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD TIMING CHAIN AND VTC ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO THE TIME OF WELL OVER $2000. AFTER RESEARCH, I HAVE SEEN THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH ALL 2014 HONDA CRVS BUT HONDA HAS REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM LEADS TO ENGINE FAILURE AND HONDA IS CONTINUING TO BUILD THESE VEHICLES WITH DEFECTIVE PARTS. THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN OUT DOES NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. I AM ASKING THAT HONDA ESTABLISH A RECALL FOR THE VTC ACTUATOR AND TIMING CHAIN TO PREVENT RESULTING ENGINE DAMAGE FROM THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS.
VEHICLE EXPERIENCES SHUDDER UNDER LIGHT TO NORMAL ACCELERATION AT OR AROUND 2000 RPM. THERE ARE SERVICE BULLETINS OUT FROM HONDA WITH CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN. HONDA WANTS TO CHARGE TO PERFORM THE FIX WITH NO GUARANTEE IT WILL SOLVE THEW KNOWN PROBLEM.
MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE KNOWN ISSUE OF VTC RATTLE AT STARTUP.
Passenger seat has several spots where it has burned through. Unable to heat seat because of this.
DRIVING THE INTERSTATE I-35W ON SATURDAY JUNE 13, 2020 IN MINNEAPOLIS, MN WE HEARD A LOUD BANG, SOUNDED LIKE A ROCK HIT THE CAR. BEING CLOSE TO HOME WE PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY BUT DID NOT SEE ANY VISIBLE DAMAGE ON THE SIDES OF THE CAR NOR UNDERNEATH. TWO DAYS LATER OPENING THE CEILING DOOR TO THE SUNROOF TO FIND OUT THAT THE GLASS HAD A BIG HOLE IN IT. WE WERE NOT NEAR AN OVER PASS. WE WERE IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE BUT NO WHERE CLOSE TO ANY CONSTRUCTION VEHICLES. NOT SURE THAT CONSTRUCTION WAS OCCURRING AT THE TIME. ALL WE CAN THINK OF IS EITHER A ROCK FELL FROM THE SKY OR THE CLASS IMPLODED UNDER THE HEAT OF THAT DAY. *TR
RATTLING SOUND AT START UP AND OIL CONSUMPTION,. 2 QUARTS BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND HAVE CHECKED THE LEVEL WEEKLY. *TR
ON 5/27/2020 AT 11:20 PM MY 2014 HONDA CRV WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF MY HOME AND SUDDENLY COMBUSTED.FIRST SMOKE APPEARED ON THE DRIVER SIDE THEN FLAMES. IT WAS LAST DRIVEN AROUND 9:45PM THAT EVENING WITHOUT ISSUE. THE VEHICLE HAS NO HISTORY OF PHYSICAL OR MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION. THE INCIDENT SET OFF MY RING BELL CAMERA SINCE IT MOTION SENSITIVE (WILL PROVIDE FOOTAGE IF REQUESTED).
VIBRATION WHILE DRIVING UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION USUALLY OCCURS WHEN ENGINE/TRANSMISSION IS COLD. USUALLY OCCURS AROUND 25 MPH DURING LIGHT ACCELERATION. *TR *BF *AS
VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A RATTLING NOISE UPON COLD STARTS. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE CAR NEEDED A VTC ACTUATOR FOR A COST IN EXCESS OF $1,000. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH DESCRIBED WIDE SPREAD ISSUES WITH THIS PART AND THAT IT IS A RECURRING ISSUE AND COULD DAMAGE TIMING CHAIN FOR COSTS IN EXCESS OF $5K. HONDA SERV BULLETIN 16-012 DESCRIBES ISSUES BUT HONDA DOES NOT COVER UNDER ENGINE WARRANTY. VERY COSTLY DEFECT FOR A MAKE OF CAR THAT HAS HAD A GOOD REPUTATION.
Bad grinding noise on cold start. Defective actuator. This can damage engine. CRV only has 58,000 miles. Honda has known about this for years and needs to issue a recall. Class action law suits have been filed in California & Illinois. Technical Service Bulletin 16-012.
I HAD NOT USED THE CAR ALL DAY, BUT AROUND 5:45 PM (03/12/20) I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES TO AN APPOINTMENT. AS I PULLED INTO THE PARKING AREA IN FRONT OF THE SHOP, I SAW WHAT I THOUGHT WAS STEAM COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND TRIED TO RELEASE THE HOOD LATCH, WHILE I WAS DOING THAT A MAN BANGED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW AND TOLD ME TO QUICKLY GET OUT OF THE CAR. I DID SO AND AS I WAS WALKING TOWARDS THE SHOP THE CAR BURST INTO FLAMES. SEE ATTACHED PICTURES. SOMEONE FROM THE STORE CALL 911, A POLICEMAN ARRIVED AND TACKLED THE FIRE WITH HIS FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUT IT FAILED TO CONTROL THE FIRE. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS 3 FIRE ENGINES WERE ON THE SCENE. THEY ASKED PEOPLE TO MOVE ADJACENT CARS AND EVACUATED THE STORES AROUND THE FIRE. THEY EVENTUALLY PUT OUT THE FIRE.
ON COLD START-UPS THERE IS A LOUD RATTLE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. MY CR-V ONLY HAS 54,000 MILES ON IT AND THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I AM TOLD IT COULD BE THE VTC ACTUATOR AND CAN ONLY HOPE THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL COVER IT. NOT THE QUALITY I EXPECT FROM HONDA AT ALL. RESEARCHING THIS CAN LEAD TO OIL CONSUMPTION AND A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN AND PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE.
2014 HONDA CRV EX-L WITH ONLY 65K CAUGHT ON FIRE - BURNED ENTIRE VEHICLE. NO MAJOR SERVICE ITEMS. FILED COMPLAINT WITH HONDA NORTH AMERICA. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO TOWN(25MI) - UPON THE RETURN TO RESIDENCE FIRE BROKE OUT UNDER ENGINE IN DRIVEWAY. CAR SERVICED EVERY 5K MILES. NO OTHER ISSUES PRIOR TO FIRE WITH VEHICLE.
I HAVE HONDA CR-V 2014 WITH ONLY 41K, THE SAME PROBLEM IS WITH THE SHAKE, JUDDER, VIBRATION BETWEEN 25-30 MPG.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (60MPH) ON A SUNNY BUT NOT HOT DAY (45 DEG.) WE HEARD A LOUD BANG LIKE SOMETHING HIT THE ROOF OF THE CAR. THERE WAS NO OTHER TRAFFIC IN THE AREA AND WE DID NOT PASS UNDER ANY OVERPASS. UPON INSPECTION OF THE CAR AFTER STOPPING, WE SAW THE SUNROOF HAD A LARGE HOLE (6-8 INCHES) AND APPEARED TO HAVE EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE, SINCE THE BROKEN AREA WAS BULGING UP. WE SUBMITTED A CLAIM WITH OUR INSURANCE CARRIER, AND WAS TOLD WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE $100 DEDUCTIBLE. WE EXPECT TO GET THE DAMAGED SUNROOF REPLACED NEXT WEEK WHEN THE GLASS IS AVAILABLE. THE GLASS STORE PUT A SHEET OF CLING PLASTIC OVER THE HOLE FOR TEMPORARY CLOSURE.
MY 204 HONDA CRV HAS A CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH THE VTC ACTUATOR. I'VE HAD 2 DEFECTIVE ONES, WHICH DAMAGED MY TIMING CHAIN. DEALER SAYS THEY ARE NOT LIABLE FOR THE DAMAGE DONE FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART, AND I HAVE TO PAY $1600 FOR A NEW TIMING CHAIN AT 70K MILES. HONDA ISSUED A TECHNICIAN BULLETIN STATING THE VTC IS DEFECTIVE, BUT OFFERED NO FIXES TO THE PROBLEM OTHER THAN THROWING ANOTHER DEFECTIVE PRODUCT IN THE VEHICLE. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE VTC ACTUATOR MAKES A LOUD GRINDING NOISE, WHICH IS THE SOUND OF THE TIMING CHAIN BEING STRETCHED. MY TIMING CHAIN IS NOW RUINED AND NEEDS A NEW ONE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR. THE NOISE NOW OCCURS ALMOST EVERY MORNING.
TRUNK DOOR WILL NOT OPEN IN COLD TEMPS. I LIVE IN NEW ENGLAND. THE GREASE IN THE LOCKING MECHANISM FREEZES. ONCE IT WARMS UP OUTSIDE I NO LONGER HAVE THE ISSUE.
ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON AN INCLINE AND STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS AFTER BEING PARKED (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) FOR ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINUTES. ONCE IT HIT THE CAR BEHIND IT, AND ON THE OTHER I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK IN THE CAR AND HIT THE BRAKE (WHICH RESPONDED) BEFORE IT ROLLED OUT INTO THE STREET. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROGRAM, AND I WAS TOLD THEY ARE GOING TO DO NOTHING UNLESS IT MALFUNCTIONS IN FRONT OF THEM, OR I GET AN ENGINE ERROR CODE. *TR
A VTC actuator rattles and is damaging the timing chain that will fail and cause catastrophic engine failure on road that can cause life threatening event
I HAVE A CUSTOMER THAT HAS A 2014 HONDA CRV (VIN PROVIDED) AND 2 YEARS AGO WE REPLACED THE REAR HATCH OUTSIDE HANDLE. IT WOULD NOT OPEN IN COLD WEATHER. IT FAILED AGAIN AND WE REPLACED IT AGAIN (NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER AS IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE). HONDA ONLY WARRANTIES THEIR PARTS FOR 12 MONTHS. THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM WHICH IS FIXED WITH A NEW OUTSIDE HANDLE. IT SEEMS TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS THERE IN NO WAY TO GET INTO THE REAR CARGO AREA FROM THE OUTSIDE WITHOUT THIS OUTSIDE HANDLE WORKING. HONDA HAS REFUSED ANY TO HELP IN ANY WAY.
MY 2014 HONDA CRV SEEMS TO SHUDDER AROUND 23 TO 35 MPH AT SLOW ACCELERATION. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A GOOD WHILE NOW. I CHANGED THE FLUID TRANSMISSION FLUID AND STILL NO CHANGES, IT STILL HAS AN HARD SHUDDER.
I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE HEATER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AS RELATES TO HONDA TSB 14-0063. HAVING HARD TIME TO DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD WHICH CREATE SAFETY HAZARD WITH VISIBILITY AND KEEPING THE CAR WARM. FEELING THE HONDA SHOULD ISSUE THE RECALL BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE.
I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND SEE THAT MANY 2014 HONDA CRV'S HAVE THE HEATING ISSUE DESCRIBED IN TSB 14-063 (NHTSA ID: 10120775 AND 10118028). MY 2014 CRV SUFFERS FROM THE SAME ISSUE. TO BE PRECISE, THE VENT ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT OF THE CAR (DRIVER'S SIDE) DOES NOT BLOW HOT AIR. ALL THREE VENTS TO THE RIGHT SEEM TO BLOW FINE.
2014 CRV HAD 'RATTLE' NOISE DURING COLD START ABOUT A YEAR AGO, TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. NOW AT 59974 MILES AND 3 MONTHS PASSED 5 YEAR WARRANTY, THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS GOING OFF AND TIMING CHAIN HAS TO BE REPLACED. HAD TO SPENT $2000 TO FIX IT.
I JUST PURCHASED A USED 2014 HONDA CR-V AND AFTER DRIVING AWAY FROM THE DEALER, THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEAT AND DEFROST SYSTEM WOULD ONLY BLOW COLD AIR. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAT AND DEFROST WORKS FINE. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS REACHED OPERATING TEMPERATURE, AND OCCURS WHETHER MOVING OR STATIONARY. IT IS DANGEROUS TO HAVE COMPROMISED DEFROST ABILITY. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN KNOWN TO HONDA SINCE 2014 (SEE SERVICE BULLETIN ATTACHED BELOW).
CLEAR COATING OVER PAINT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS PEELING OFF EXTENSIVELY.
Transmission Shudders, vibrates, rumbles, shakes around 25mph and then again around 40mph
Noticed one day that passenger seat had burn marks. Have smelt on occasion what seemed to be burning smells in the past. Don’t use the seat heater there since that was noticed. This is a danger.
MY VEHICLE IS SUFFERING FROM AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM WITHIN THE 4TH GENERATION CRV - THE VTC ACTUATOR IS MAKING A GRINDING NOISE DURING COLD STARTUPS. THERE IS A ACTIVE BULLETIN REGARDING THE ISSUE, TSB 16-012 VER. 2. THE ISSUE IS FURTHER COMPOUNDED BY THE FACT THAT IT DOES NOT HAPPEN LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE TIME I TURN THE CAR ON. IT ONLY HAPPENS SOMETIMES. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO LEAVE IT WITH THEM OVERNIGHT. THEN IN THE MORNING THEY WILL TEST IT AND TRY TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IF THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT, THEN THEY WON'T FIX IT. THIS IS FRUSTRATING.
MY CAR "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON AND WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. I WAS TOLD THE CAR NEED AN UPDATED PGMFI. I WAS TOLD A LOT OF CRV'S ARE INCURRING THE SAME ERROR INDICATORS. BUT BECAUSE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY I ENDED UP PAYING FOR THE PGMFI UPDATE. I DO NOT AGREE, BUT PAID THE BILL. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
KNOWN & VERY DOCUMENTED ISSUE WITH COLD START VTC ACTUATOR. ENGINE NOISE AT EVERY COLD START. IF ALL THESE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ARE REVIEWED.... WHY HASN'T THIS LEAD TO AN INVESTIGATION / RECALL ?
AFTER RECENTLY PURCHASING A USED 2014 HONDA CR-V, NOTICED A 2 SECOND RATTLE AT COLD START-UP. DOING RESEARCH, THIS ISSUE MIRRORS A VTC ACTUATOR PROBLEM KNOWN BY AMERICAN HONDA (TSB 16-012).
WHILE PARKING ON THE SECOND LEVEL OF A PARKING GARAGE, THE CAR SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD AND JUMPED THE STOP AND CRASHED INTO THE WALL OF THE GARAGE. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BREAK BUT WHEN I LIFTED IT OFF, THE ENGINE REVVED UP WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS. THIS HAS DONE THIS BEFORE AND I HAVE REPORTED IT TO HONDA BUT THEY DID NOTHING TO CORRECT IT.
MY 2014 HONDA CRV JUST CROSSED 87,000 MILES, STARTED WITH ENGINE RATTLING NOISE DURING COLD START, AND NOW GOT THE CHECK ENGINE, STEERING AND TRACTION LIGHTS TURNED ON ON THE DASHBOARD. I TOOK IT MECHANIC AND AFTER PERFORMING DIAGNOSIS THEY TOLD ME THAT THE VTC ACTUATOR AND TIMING CHAIN NEEDS REPLACEMENTS. I CAME TO KNOW THAT IT WAS DUE TO MANUFACTURING DEFECT ON THE FAULTY VTC ACTUATOR AS MENTIONED IN TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 16-012. THIS VTC ACTUATOR PROBLEM CONTRIBUTE TO HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION AS MENTIONED IN THIS LINK: HTTPS://WWW.JULIEANNACLINE.COM/ENGINE- RATTLES-ON-COLD-STARTUP-TSB-09-010/ IN THE RECENT OIL SERVICE I WAS INFORMED THAT WAS LOW ENGINE OIL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA CR-V. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PARK POSITION, THE GEAR WAS PLACED INTO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO REV UP APPROXIMATELY FOUR TIMES. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE BACK INTO THE PARK POSITION AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANTRIM WAY HONDA (LOCATED AT 200 S ANTRIM WAY, GREENCASTLE, PA 17225, 877-870-8241), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,948. *TR
THE DEFROSTER BLOWS ONLY COLD AIR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. IT IS STILL WARM/HOT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I LIVE IN THE NORTHEAST AND WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD TO DRIVE IT BECOMES A SERIOUS PROBLEM. DURING THE WINTER THE CAR IS BASICALLY UNDRIVEABLE UNLESS YOU LET THE ENTIRE INTERIOR WARM UP FOR 20-30 MINUTES, NOT EXACTLY THE FUEL FUEL EFFICIENCY I WAS LOOKING FOR IN A HONDA VEHICLE
VEHICLE MADE GRINDING NOISE UPON START-UP OVER SEVERAL MONTHS. HONDA CLAIMED IT IS NOT DAMAGING THE ENGINE AND THERE IS NO FIX. ENGINE CONTINUED TO GRIND AND MY CAR BEGAN HAVING OIL PROBLEMS. HONDA STILL SAID THERE WAS NO ISSUE AND THEY WERE NOT RELATED. CAR CONTINUED GRINDING UNTIL THIS WEEK WHEN ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP. I TOOK MY HONDA AND WAS TOLD THE TIMING CHAIN IS STRETCHED AND IT NEEDS ANOTHER VTC ACTUATOR REPLACEMENT (THIS WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY THREE YEARS AGO). THE CAR COULD HAVE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HONDA IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR RECALL IN HONDA CR-V'S. THEY CHARGED ME $1800 TO FIX AN ISSUE KNOWN TO THEM. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN BODILY INJURY TO MYSELF OR OTHERS IF THE CAR HAD STALLED WHILE DRIVING. HONDA SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR FAULTY ENGINES. THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE.
WHEN TURNING ON HEAT WARM AIR ONLY BLOWS OUT OF VENTS ON PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE.TOOK VEHICLE TO HONDA STORE TOLD US IT WAS THE HEATER CORE AND THAT IT NEEDED FLUSHING. PRICE TO TO JOB WAS $375 AND WOULD TAKE 3 AND ONE HALF HOURS. DISCOVERED OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM. PLEASE ENCOURAGE HONDA TO FIX PROBLEM MORE COST EFFECTIVE. THANKS
WHILE IT IS STATIONARY, THE TAILGATE CANNOT BE OPEN EXTERNALLY WHEN IN COLD TEMPERATURE LIKE 35 DEGREES. THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN IT INSIDE AND THUS NO WAY TO ESCAPE THROUGH THE TAILGATE FROM INSIDE. NOT SAFE. HERE ARE LINKS FOR COMPLAINTS. IT HAPPENS TO 2012 TO 2016 AND EVEN 2019 ON HRV MODELS. AFTER READING COMPLAINTS, THE ONLY SOLUTION IS A REPLACEMENT OF THE SWITCH. THEY SAID IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN EVEN AFTER REPLACING IT. I DON'T WANT TO SPEND MONEY FOR DIAGNOSITICS AND REPAIRS UNTIL IT WORKS FOR GOOD.
