FUEL IS GETTING IN ENGINE OIL AND DELUTING IT. 1.5 TURBO ENGINE. CALL HONDA OF AMERICA THEY SAID TO TAKE TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION. HONDA GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER. DEALER CHANGE OIL TOLD TO KEEP A WATCH ON IT. CALLED HONDA BACK WITH CASE NUMBER THEY SAID HONDA HAS NO FIX AT THIS TIME. I WAS TOLD JUST TO WATCH FOR SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THERE WAS GOING TO BE A FIX. MEANWHILE MY ENGINE IN BEING DAMAGED BY NOT HAVING PROPER OIL LUBERCATION FROM FUEL BEING IN OIL
GASOLINE IN ENGINE. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE WITH DEALER BUT NO RESPONSE. I ALSO WROTE THIS ENTITY BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY KNOWLEDGEMENT OF THIS ISSUE. I DO REGULAR OIL CHANGE AND THE OIL ALWAYS SMELLS LIKE GAS JUST BEFORE I TAKE IT I. TO HAVE OIL CHANGES REGULARLY (3500 OR 5000 MILES). PLUS I HAVE YET IN THE 18 MONTHS I'VE OWNED THE CR-V TO GET AN OIL CHANCE NOTIFICATION. I WANT THE ISSUE WITH THIS/MY CR-V BE ADDRESSED AND CORRECTED! I WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE AN REPLY THAT WILL HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE!
I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON HWY 86 FROM THE CITY OF IMPERIAL CA. WHEN I SET MY CRUISE CONTROL AT 65 MPH SUDDENLY START GOING UP AND DOWN WITH THE SPEED ( GOING UP TO 67 AND DOWN TO 64) WITH NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME. I ARRIVE TO MY HOUSE AND AFTER HEARING PROBLEMS WITH THE STALLING ON THE CR-V MODELS , MY HUSBAND CHECK THE OIL AND IT SMELL A LOT TO GASOLINE.
ENGINE HAS EXCESSIVE OIL LEVEL AND SMELLS STRONGLY OF GAS. DRIVEN PRIMARILY ON THE INTERSTATE ROADS.
FUEL IS MIXING WITH THE ENGINE OIL IN THE CRANKCASE. THE PROBLEM WAS VERIFIED BY THE SERVICE DEOARTMENT OF THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP, AND THE OIL WAS CHANGED.
FUEL IS MIXING WITH THE ENGINE OIL IN THE CRANKCASE, MAKING OIL VISCOSITY THINNER AND SMELL OF GASOLINE. THE PROBLEM WAS ACKNOWLEDGED AND VERIFIED BY OUR HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON OCTOBER 24, 2018. THEY SAID PROBLEM IS EXACERBATED BY COLD WEATHER AND SHORT TRIPS. WE WERE TOLD A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AND WE WILL BE NOTIFIED BY LETTER PRIOR TO NOVEMBER 22, 2018 TO SCHEDULE A TIME FOR REPAIRS. IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE NOTIFICATION, CALL THE DEALERSHIP BACK AT THAT TIME.
BUTTON PLUS SPRING POPPED OUT OF THE SHIFTER WHILE IN MOTION.
GASOLINE IN ENGINE OIL. MY CRV HAS AN OIL LEVEL OVER THE FULL MARK ON THE DIP STICK AND THE OIL SMELLS OF GASOLINE. THIS CAR OFTEN HAS TO BE GIVEN 40-50% THROTTLE TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. I HAVE INCLUDED A PICTURE OF THE OIL LEVEL ABOVE THE FULL MARK. THE SMELL YOU CANT PHOTOGRAPH.
AT 6,000 MILES ENGINE IS EXPERIENCING OIL DILUTION. OIL IS ABOVE MAX LEVEL ON DIPSTICK AND SMELLS STRONGLY OF GAS, VEHICLE WAS COLD AND STATIONARY WHEN OIL LEVEL WAS CHECKED. CALLED A NEARBY HONDA SERVICE CENTER AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE BROUGHT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE VEHICLE WAS JUST IN FOR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE (INCLUDING AN OIL CHANGE) 1,000 MILES AGO. AN AUTOMOBILE SHOULD NOT REQUIRE AN OIL CHANGE AFTER 1,000 MILES OF USE.
OIL FROM DIPSTICK SMELLS STRONGLY OF GAS. LEVEL SEEM HIGHER THAN IT SHOULD.
I PURCHASE A 2017 HONDA CRV-EX WITH THE 1.5 LITER TURBO ENGINE. DURING THE PAST 6 MONTHS I'VE BEEN HAVING THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE ' THE OIL SMELL OF GAS, PASSENGER COMPARTMENT SMELL LIKE GAS, RISING OIL LEVELS, STALLING AND LOSS OF POWER. I UNDERSTAND THAT HONDA MOTOR COMPANY , LTD HAS RECALLED 350,000 HONDA CRV'S IN CHINA BECAUSE OF THE SAME PROBLEM. THE COMPANY IS CALLING BACK THOSE CARS TO RESOLVE A PROBLEM CAUSED BY AN UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF UN-COMBUSTED PETROL COLLECTING IN THE ENGINE'S LUBRICANT OIL PAN. HONDA DEALERSHIPS IN CANADA WITH OIL DILUTION PROBLEMS HAVE ALREADY STARTED REPAIRS OF THEIR 2017 & 2018 HONDA CR-VS AFTER IT WAS CONTACTED BY CANADIAN MOTOR VEHICLE ARBITRATION PLAN (CAMVAP). I WOULD LIKE HONDA TO BUY BACK MY VEHICLE UNLESS I RECEIVED THE SAME REPAIRS AS THE CANADIAN HONDA OWNERS, WHICH ARE THE FOLLOWING: 1.) PERFORMED N60 CAMPAIGN (OIL DILUTION) 2.) REPLACED CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT 3.) REPLACED DRAIN PLUG WASHER 4.) REPLACED OIL 5.) UPDATED PGM-FI AND TCM SOFTWARE. 6.) WARRANTY EXTENSIONS ON ALL ENGINE COMPONENTS FOR UP TO SIX YEARS FROM ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE, WITH NO MILEAGE LIMIT. GIVEN THAT THE PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED, HONDA HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE IN AN OPEN AND TRANSPARENT MANNER. HONDA HAD KNOWLEDGE OF THE TURBO ENGINE DEFECTS THAT CAUSE FUEL TO ENTER THE ENGINE AND DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR. I SEEK A PERMANENT FIX TO THE PROBLEM, NOT JUST A FLUSHING OUT OF THE VEHICLE'S OIL RESERVOIR AS THE DEALERSHIP HAS ALREADY PERFORMED TO NO EFFECT. IF HONDA CANNOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM, I SEEK A FULL REFUND OF MY VEHICLE.
MY CAR HAS ABOUT 8800 MILES. HAD THE ENGINE OIL FIRST CHANGED AT 6100 MILES. SINCE THEN, THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL KEEPS RISING DURING NORMAL USE. THE OIL LEVEL IS ABOUT 1/4 TO 1/2 INCH ABOVE THE FULL LINE. HONDA DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT NOTHING IS WRONG, AND THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS HAD PROBLEMS. WHEN I HAD THE OIL CHANGED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, THEY STATED THE FOLLOWING: "OIL CONSISTENCY WAS LIKE WATER AND SMELLS OF GAS. OIL REGISTERED OVERFILLED. OIL IS ALSO LEAKING FROM REAR MAIN SEAL AREA. RECOMMEND HAVING THIS CHECKED BY HONDA." IF YOU LOOK ONLINE, THERE ARE PLENTY OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT OIL DILUTION IN THE 1.5 L TURBO ENGINE. CONSUMER REPORTS INVESTIGATED THIS ISSUE AND CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM. BECAUSE OF OIL DILUTION, SOME ENGINES HAVE BEEN STALLING WHILE ON THE ROAD. NOT ONLY IS THIS A QUALITY ISSUE, BUT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE LONG RUN.
AFTER I PULLED INTO MY GARAGE, STOPPED THE VEHICLE, AND PUT IT INTO PARK, I RELEASED THE SHIFTER INTERLOCK BUTTON AND IT POPPED OUT AND LANDED ON THE FLOOR. FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS I THOUGHT THE BUTTON HAD MORE PLAY IN IT WHEN, BUT FIGURED THAT I WAS IMAGINING IT BECAUSE WHAT COULD GO WRONG WITH A BUTTON ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 7500 MILES ON IT. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THIS MORNING AND THEY ORDERED REPLACEMENT PARTS AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE REPAIR. I'M KIND OF SURPRISED THAT THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME A LOANER AND TELL ME TO STOP DRIVING IT SINCE NOT BEING TO SHIFT A VEHICLE INTO PARK (IF THE BUTTON WERE TO FALL OUT WHILE DRIVING) SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE.
AFTER READING A CONSUMER REPORTS ARTICLE ABOUT GASOLINE IN THE OIL, ASKING OWNERS TO CHECK OIL LEVEL, I DID IT AND FOUND OUT THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS ABOUT ONE INCH ABOVE THE MAXIMUM MARK. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE TIP OF THE DIPSTICK SMELLS OF GASOLINE. I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL IN THE MORNING BEFORE THE CAR WAS DRIVEN SINCE YESTERDAY. PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED PICTURE OF THE DIPSTICK.
OUR CRV IS ONE THAT HAS THE PROBLEM OF GAS GETTING INTO THE OIL. WE HAVE THREE EVIDENCES OF THIS: 1) THE OIL LEVEL IS MUCH TOO HIGH; 2) THE OIL SMELLS LIKE GAS; 3) THE ENGINE FROM TIME TO TIME HAS NOT RUN OR IDLED PROPERLY, ALTHOUGH WE HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY STALLING. YESTERDAY I TOOK THE CAR IN TO OUR DEALER AND REQUESTED AN OIL CHANGE UNDER WARRANTY AS WE VIEW THIS AS A DEFECT, AND HONDA REFUSED TO COVER THE COST OF THIS. THE DEALER GRACIOUSLY AGREED TO A ONE-TIME FREE OIL CHANGE AS A COURTESY, BUT I FEEL HONDA SHOULD HAVE COVERED THIS. NO MATTER WHAT THEIR EXPERTS SAY, GASOLINE IN THE OIL CANNOT BE GOOD FOR THE ENGINE! WE ARE TOLD THAT A FIX IS IN THE WORKS, BUT HONDA SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED US OF THE PROBLEM!
I FOUND A GAS SMELL IN THE OIL FOR MY 2017 HONDA CR V. THE DEALER SAID NOTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE ON MY LAST OIL CHANGE. I TOOK THE CAR TO DAMSON HONDA ON 10/182018. THEY VERIFIED THAT GAS WAS IN THE OIL WITH AN .19 MM ADDITIONAL VOLUME. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND DANGEROUS
VERY HIGH READING ON OIL DIPSTICK. STRONG GAS SMELL AS WELL. HONDA HAS AWARE THIS ISSUE BUT THE DEALER DENIES THE SMELL AND ONLY LOWER THE OIL LEVEL WITHOUT PERFORM OIL CHANGE.
EXCESSIVE FLUID IN OIL PAN AND STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE WHEN HAVING MY OIL CHANGED. OIL CHANGE WAS DONE AT VALVOLINE SERVICE CENTER
I OCCASIONALLY NOTICED THE SMELL OF GASOLINE AROUND THE CAR. WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL IT WAS ABOUT 1/4 IN. ABOVE THE FULL MARK ON THE DIPSTICK. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER (SCOTT HONDA OF WEST CHESTER) WHERE THEY CONFIRMED THE HIGH OIL LEVEL AND NOTED THE SMELL OF GASOLINE IN THE OIL. I WAS TOLD THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE TURBO ENGINE BUT HONDA DID NOT HAVE A FIX AVAILABLE. THE DEALER CALLED HONDA AMERICA AND WAS AUTHORIZED TO CHANGE THE OIL UNDER WARRANTY.
I BOUGHT MY CR-V IN FEB 2017. SINCE 6TH OCT 2018 I HAVE BEGUN TO NOTICE HESITANCY PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND IN SOME CASES THE ENGINE HAS ALSO STALLED. CAR WAS NOT IN ECON MODE, BEING DRIVEN ON 'D' MODE ON A CITY STREET. FACED SIMILAR ISSUE ON A HIGHWAY WHILE IN TRAFFIC. TODAY (15TH OCT) IT HAPPENED THRICE BACK TO BACK IN A 20 MINUTE DRIVE ON A CITY STREET.
1.EXCESSIVE WHITE EXHAUST FUMES WHILE DRIVING (10/15/18) 2.WHEN RUNNING IT SMELLS LIKE SULFUR & FUEL (10/16/18 & 10/17/18). 3.ALSO, SMELLED FUEL INSIDE THE CAR 4.HEADACHE AND NAUSEATED DUE TO FUEL SMELL IN THE CABIN 5.TOOK TO DEALER SHIP (10/18/18), THEY SAID THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. OK TO DRIVE 6.ON THE WAY HOME FROM DEALERSHIP, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE STALLED. DID NOT HAVE POWER. 7.STOPPED THE CAR, WAITED FOR 10 MINUTES, RESTARTED THE CAR, ENGINE LIGHT WENT WAY. 8.CAR STALLED FEW TIMES AFTER THAT WHILE DRIVING 9.I DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM UNTIL OIL CHANGE AT HONDA DEALERSHIP ON 10/13/18 10.CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL. OIL LEVEL WAS MUCH HIGHER THAN RECOMMENDED. SMELLED FUEL IN THE OIL. DEALER'S RESPONSE (10/19/18) 1.DEALER TALKED TO HONDA ' THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM FUEL GETTING INTO OIL AND COMING UP WITH A FIX MID-NOVEMBER. THIS PROBLEM WILL NOT AFFECT THE ENGINE OR CATALYTIC CONVERTER. 2.THEY DID NOT FIND ANY CODE IN THE COMPUTER 3.ENGINE STALLS WHEN THERE IS TOO MUCH OIL RESULTING FROM FUEL GETTING INTO OIL 4.DID NOT GIVE OIL SAMPLE AS REQUESTED 5 CHANGED THE OIL AND UPDATED THE SOFTWARE HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE: FILED A COMPLAINT. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WORKING ON A FIX. AS PER HONDA, IT WILL NOT AFFECT LONG TERM LIFE OF ENGINE, TRANSMISSION OR CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BILLY WOOD HONDA (1909 W HILLSBORO ST, EL DORADO, AR 71730, (870) 863-5400) WHERE THE COMPUTER WAS UPDATED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE MANUFACTURER UPDATED THE COMPUTER AGAIN. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR A THIRD TIME, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. ALSO, WHILE INSPECTING THE OIL, THE CONTACT NOTICED IT WAS OVERFILLED AND SMELLED LIKE FUEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,300. *JS
2.0 LITER TURBO CHARGED ENGINE FUEL DRAWING INTO OIL INCREASING OIL LEVEL TO ABOVE MAXIMUM OIL LEVEL READING. MAY CAUSE DRIVE ABILITY PROBLEMS ACCORDING TO HONDA DEALER
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AFTER PUTTING GAS IN (FUELING) HESITATION WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 15,000 MILES, HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, EXPLAINED WHAT WAS GOING ON, THEY INSIST THE CODES READ O2 SENSOR AND SEAL, STILL NOT FIXED.
1. ENGINE OIL LEVEL AFTER A RECENT OIL CHANGE ( WITH VERY LESS MILEAGE) SHOWS THE OIL LEVEL IS HIGHER THAN THE "HIGHEST" INDICATOR POINT. IT APPEARS TO BE OIL IS GETTING DILUTED BY UNBURNT FUEL. THIS MAY POTENTIALLY HARM THE ENGINE!!.
ALARM WILL GO OFF RANDOMLY. CLICKING LOCK/UNLOCK ON THE KEY FOB DOES NOT TURN THE ALARM OFF. INSERTING THE KEY INTO THE DOOR WAS THE ONLY WAY TO TURN THE ALARM OFF. THE MESSAGE "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" WAS DISPLAYED ON THE DASH WHEN I ENTERED THE CAR. I TURNED MY CAR ON, BUT WHEN TRYING TO TURN THE CAR OFF, THERE WERE CLICKING NOISES, THE DASH FLICKERED REPEATEDLY, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF. IT TOOK ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF CLICKING THE PUSH START/STOP BUTTON TO GET THE CAR TO TURN OFF. IT WAS TOWED TO HONDA (TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD TROUBLE GETTING THE CAR ONTO THE BED BECAUSE ALL OF THE SAFETY BRAKING FEATURES WERE RANDOMLY ACTIVATING) AND HONDA REPLACED SOME WIRING AND SAID I WAS GOOD TO. TWO DAYS LATER THE CAR WOULDN'T START. HAD IT TOWED TO HONDA AGAIN AND THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD BATTERY. THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. THE NEXT DAY THE ALARM WENT OFF AGAIN, SAME ISSUE WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN IT OFF, AND THE SAME KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM WAS ON THE DASH. I STARTED THE CAR, THEN TURNED THE CAR OFF, WENT INTO THE HOUSE, AND THE ALARM WENT OFF AGAIN 15 MINUTES LATER. I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND WILL TAKE IT BACK TO HONDA TOMORROW. NOTE, WHEN I POPPED THE HOOD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY, THE ELECTRICITY TURNED BACK ON IN THE CAR BY ITSELF. I NOW SUSPECT THE ELECTRICITY IS TURNING ON BY ITSELF AND AFTER SITTING IDLE FOR A WHILE THE ALARM ACTIVATES.
OIL DILUTION ISSUE. UPON CHECKING ENGINE OIL LEVEL, NOTICED THAT LEVEL WAS 1/2" ABOVE TOP OF DIPSTICK MEASUREMENT AREA. ENGINE DIPSTICK ALSO SMELLED LIKE GASOLINE. TOOK CAR TO DEALER, THEY NOTED THE EXCESSIVE OIL LEVEL AS WELL, TOOK PICTURES, AND IS CONTACTING HONDA. DEALER STATED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH A FIX EXPECTED IN NOVEMBER. DEALER CHANGED ENGINE OIL IN THE MEAN TIME TO BRING ENGINE OIL TO NORMAL LEVEL AND VISCOSITY. PREVIOUSLY NOTED WITH DEALER THAT SMELL OF GASOLINE WAS PRESENT IN VEHICLE CABIN. UNKNOWN FIX AT THAT TIME AND I STATED THAT I WOULD BRING IT BACK IF IT CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE.
IN MID-OCTOBER 2018, THE OIL LEVEL ON OUR 2017 CR-V WAS A HALF INCH PAST THE MAX MARK ON THE DIPSTICK. OIL WAS LAST CHANGED JUST 3400 MILES AGO IN MID-MAY. I SUSPECT THIS IS DUE TO THE WIDELY REPORTED PROBLEM OF FUEL DILUTING THE OIL. THE HONDA DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED REFUSES TO ADMIT THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM.
WHEN COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED, THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STOPPED. THE SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LURCH FORWARD AND RESULTED IN THE DRIVER HITTING THEIR HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL.
WHEN DRIVING AND APPROACHING TO ENTER TO A HIGHWAY WHEN YOU HAVE TO SPEED UP THE CR-V HESITATES TO BUILD SPEED AND SOMEWHAT STALLS EVEN WHEN FLOORING THE THROTTLE PEDAL. INCOMING TRAFFIC SUDDENLY NEED TO LOWER THEIR SPEED AND I BECAME CONCERNED THAT THEY POSSIBLY COULD HIT ME. THE CR-V RESUMED TO BUILD UP SPEED AND FUNCTION PROPERLY BUT AT A GREAT EXPENSE OF BEING UTTERLY NERVOUS WHEN THIS COULD HAPLEN AGAIN. THE UNIT WAS JUST SERVICED FOR OIL AND FILTER AND INSPECTED. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
OIL DILUTION: I HAD AN OIL ANALYSIS DONE ON MY 2017 HONDA CRV AND IT CAME BACK SHOWING 14% GAS IN THE OIL.
AT THIS TIME I HAVE NOTICED A GAS SMELL IN THE OIL AND THE OIL LEVEL HAS BEEN HIGH EVEN AFTER 5000 MILES. THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I WAS THERE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. NOW THAT IT IS GETTING COOLER I AM ALSO NOTICING THAT THE HEATER IS NOT WORKING WELL AND I HAVE TO HAVE THE DEFROSTER ON ALL THE TIME OR THE WINDOW FOG.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE OIL. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MANCHESTER HONDA (24 ADAMS ST, MANCHESTER, CT 06042) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND HONDA WAS WORKING ON A REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,423.
AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE NEW, I NOTICED AT AROUND 4K MILES THE OIL SMELLED HEAVILY OF FUEL AND WAS OVERFULL. THE ENGINE OIL AND FILTER WERE CHANGED. 5K MILES LATER THE OIL AGAIN REEKED OF FUEL AS WAS OVERFULL. OIL AND FILTER CHANGED AGAIN. AT AROUND 15K MILES THE OIL AGAIN IS OVERFULL AND APPARENTLY DILUTED WITH OIL. I DID RESEARCH AND IT APPEARS THIS MAY BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE. I'M CONCERNED IF I ACTUALLY FOLLOWED THE MAINTENANCE MINDER SYSTEM AND WENT 10K MILES PER OIL CHANGE THE ENGINE WILL LOCK UP FROM LACK OF LUBRICATION.
4000 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE, CHECKED OIL DIPSTICK, OIL LEVEL TOO HIGH...OIL SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE. CRV NOT RUNNING SMOOTHLY, HESITATES UPON ACCELERATION.

THE CONTACT CALLED LOVE HONDA AT (352) 628-4600 (LOCATED AT 2219 S SUNCOAST BLVD, HOMOSASSA, FL 34448) AND WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 5,968.
I HAVE SMELLED GASOLINE THREE TIMES RECENTLY WHEN DRIVING. I CALLED THE HONDA HEADQUARTERS. THEY TOLD ME THIS PROBLEM IS SOMETHING THEY ARE WORKING ON. THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT AT THIS TIME. THEY CLAIM GAS LEAKS INTO THE OIL FILTER WHICH CAN AFFECT THE ENGINE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY SND A POSSIBLE ENGINE PROBLEM. I HAVE RECEIVED NO SATISFACTION. IN ADDITION I HAVE HAD TWO OTHER MAJOR PROBLEMS IN THE SHORT TIME I AM DRIVING MY CAR. MY BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED 7 MONTHS AFTER I DROVE OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT WHEN MY BATTERY DIED. RECENTLY THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB BROKE OFF WHEN IT WAS IN DRIVE AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO SHIFT GEARS. I WAS DROPPING OFF A PASSENGER. IT WAS REPLACED.
ON 10-11-18 I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM CONSUMER REPORTS WHICH INCLUDED AN ARTICLE ABOUT ISSUES WITH HONDA'S 1.5 TURBO ENGINES. I HAD RECENTLY BEEN NOTICING ENGINE RESPONSE LAG, ON MY 2017 CRV TOURING, SO I WENT OUT AND CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED A FUEL SMELL ON THE DIP STICK. THE OIL LEVEL WAS APPROXIMATELY 1 INCH OVER THE TOP MARK. (TILL NOW I HAD NOT NOTICED AN ISSUE WHEN CHECKING OIL LEVEL PERIODICALLY SINCE MY 6-19-2018 OIL CHANGE). I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT. AT MY HONDA DEALERSHIP AND WAS SCHEDULED FOR AN APPOINTMENT ON 10/18/2018. THEY SCHEDULED ME FOR AN OIL CHANGE. WHEN I ARRIVED FOR THE APPOINTMENT THE SERVICE REP. SAID HE HAD JUST TALKED TO THEIR HONDA REP. WHO CONFIRMED THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT A FIX WAS TO BE ROLLED OUT IN NOVEMBER 2018. I HAVE BEEN CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL PERIODICALLY SINCE THE OCTOBER SERVICE AND IT HAS BEEN CREEPING UP REGULARLY. AS OF 11-16-18 THE OIL LEVEL IS AGAIN ABOVE THE ORANGE PLASTIC PIECE THAT CONTAINS THE HIGH/LOW MARKINGS. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT SHORT AND LONG-TERM DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND OVERALL SAFETY. THIS IS OUR 7TH NEW HONDA AND WAS EXPECTING THIS TO BE OUR TRAVEL VEHICLE FOR MANY YEARS.
GAS IS MIXING IN WITH MY OIL CAUSING IT TO DILUTE OIL.
GAS WAS FOUND IN THE OIL. OIL STICK WAS ABOVE THE NORMAL RANGE. POOR GAS MILEAGE.
FUEL GETTING IN OIL, LEVEL IS HIGH ON DIPSTICK, SMELLS LIKE GAS ON DIPSTICK AND IN CAR WHEN ITS COLD OUTSIDE.
I WAS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC IN CLEARFIELD, PA BARELY ESCAPED GETTING HIT BY A DUMP TRUCK WHEN THE CAR PRACTICALLY STOPPED. I GOT TO THE BERM OF THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 4 MPH. I GOT TO A PARKING LOT AND PUT IT IN PARK, TRIED DRIVE AND REVERSE, THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 4 MPH. I SHUT IT OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES, RESTARTED IT AND IT DROVE OK. UPON HEARING OF THE EARTH DREAM ENGINE ISSUE, I HAD OIL CHECKED AT AN AUTO ZONE, OIL LEVEL WAS ABOUT 1/4 INCH UP ON THE ACTUAL METAL ON THE DIPSTICK AND SMELLED STRONGLY OF GAS. CALLED HONDA AMERICA, WAS ACCUSED OF DRIVING WITH ONE FOOT ON THE GAS AND ONE ON THE BRAKE. CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR, PRESTON HONDA IN NEW CASTLE PA, SERVICE MANAGER DAN SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF GAS BEING IN THE OIL AND MAYBE I DID HAVE "ONE FOOT ON THE GAS AND ONE AND THE BRAKE THINKING I WAS DRIVING A STICK SHIFT". I HAD DRIVEN TO A CONFERENCE LEWISBURG, PA, AFTER FINDING SOMEONE TO FINALLY ADMIT THERE WAS A PROBLEM, AND THE CAR STILL IN WARRANTY,IT WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST HONDA DEALERSHIP IN MUNCY, PA WHERE THE OIL WAS CHANGED AND THE OVERFILL AND GAS IN OIL WAS DOCUMENTED. AFTER 500 MILES THE OIL CHAMBER IS ONCE AGAIN OVERFILL WITH A SMELL OF GAS. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AGAIN TODAY (905 MILES), WHERE PRESTON HONDA IN NEW CASTLE PA CONTINUES TO DENY ANY KNOWN ISSUES, REFUSES TO DOCUMENT THE OIL CHAMBER BEING OVERFULL AND WILL ONLY DOCUMENT A MILD GAS SMELL. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. HOW DO I KNOW WHICH TRIP WILL BE MY LAST WHEN I EITHER GET KILLED OR CAUSE SOMEONE ELSE TO BE KILLED IN A TERRIBLE AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT WHEN THE CAR ONCE AGAIN STALLS IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF ALL OIL CHANGES SINCE THE CAR, I HAVE ATTACHED THOSE WHICH HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF PROBLEM.
CABIN SMELLS OF GASOLINE AFTER DRIVING SHORT DISTANCE THEN STOPPED WHILE IDLING (THINK GOING THROUGH A DRIVE THROUGH, LEAVE HOUSE, TRAVEL A FEW MILES, WAIT IN LINE -- THAT IS WHEN IT SMELLS OF GAS). SMELL OF GAS FROM OIL DIPSTICK WHEN CHECKING LEVELS AND OIL LEVEL APPEARS TO BE HIGHER THAN NORMAL (DEALER SERVICES VEHICLE).
WHEN CHECKING THE ENGINE OIL APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO, THE OIL LEVEL EXCEEDED THE "HIGH" MARK ON THE DIPSTICK. THE OIL ALSO HAD A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND THEY CHANGED THE OIL. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR ~2000 MILES AFTER THE OIL CHANGE, THE OIL LEVEL AGAIN EXCEEDS TO HIGH MARK ON THE DIPSTICK AND SMELLS STRONGLY OF GASOLINE.
GASOLINE SMELL INSIDE/ OUTSIDE CAR. HEATER IN WINTER NOT WORKED. CAR IN COVERED GARAGE WHEN GASOLINE SMELL OUTSIDE AND INSIDE. DID NOT HEAT UP AT BEGINNING OF WINTER. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DUE TO SMELL; SAME WITH HEATER.

GASOLINE CONTAMINATION TO OIL. OIL LEVELS ARE HIGH AND SMELL OF GASOLINE. AMERICAN HONDA REPRESENTATIVE ADVISES THERE IS NO FIX. RECOMMENDS OIL CHANGES AS NEEDED, BUT WILL NOT REIMBURSE COST. ACCORDING TO CONSUMER REPORTS, HONDA CRV (2017 & 2018) OWNERS ARE REPORTING STALLS. THIS HAS POTENTIAL TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. NO RECALL ANNOUNCED. PLEASE GET WITH HONDA AND INVESTIGATE.
GAS SMELL ON OIL DIP STICK, OIL LEVEL READING HIGHER THAN ORANGE MARKINGS, OIL BLACK AND WATERY
THERE IS FUEL GETTING ADDED INTO THE ENGINE OIL. SMELL OF FUEL INSIDE CAR AT TIMES. OIL WAS CHANGED BY DEALER 3000 MILES BEFORE AND NOW THE OIL LEVEL IS A LOT HIGHER THAN MAXIMUM AND THERE IS A CLEAR SMELL OF FUEL TO THE ENGINE OIL. THE ENGINE OIL VISCOSITY IS CONSIDERABLY DOWN. I AM SURE THIS IS KILLING LUBRICATION TO MY ENGINE. REACHED OUT TO DEALER, ONLY THING THEY CAN DO IS ANOTHER OIL CHANGE. THIS PROBLEM NEED TO BE ADDRESSED PRETTY FAST OR ENGINE WILL START SEIZING UP SOON. I EMAILED HONDA FOR A RESPONSE AND THEY ARE REFERRING ME BACK TO THE DEALER. CHINA HAS STOPPED HONDA FROM SELLING CR-V IN THEIR MARKET IN LIGHT OF THIS PROBLEM. I AM AMAZED I AM NOT SEEING A RESPONSE FROM US AUTHORITIES ON THIS IMPORTANT CONSUMER ISSUE.
EXPERIENCING RISING OIL LEVELS DUE TO HIGH LEVELS OF GASOLINE BEING ENTRAINED IN THE OIL. THIS IS CAUSING THE OIL TO BECOME INCREASINGLY THIN AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN ENGINE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND ON A FLAT SURFACE DURING EACH OF THE OIL CHECKS.
