THE NAVIGATION/INFOTAINMENT DISPLAY WORKS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, IT BECOMES UNUSABLE AND ALSO JUST BLACKS OUT SO IF YOU ARE USING THE NAVIGATION WHILE DRIVING IT BECOMES INOPERABLE AND THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT IT IS TO PULL OVER TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT WHICH IS DANGEROUS. HONDA HAS STATED THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAVE NO SOLUTION YET.
THE LEFT, REAR (BEHIND DRIVER) SEAT BELT LATCH IS IN THE WRONG POSITION CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. WHEN THREE (3) PASSENGERS ARE ON THE REAR SEAT, THE BELT FROM THE CENTER CROSSES OVER THE BELT FROM THE LEFT AT THE LATCHING POINTS; THEREBY CREATING A POINT OF DOUBLE LOAD WHERE THE BELTS CROSS. IN AN ACCIDENT THIS COULD BE CATASTROPHIC. THE PROBLEM IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT I NOTICED ON THE DAY SPECIFIED ON THIS FORM.
ON JUNE 24, 2019, I WAS APPROACHING AN AREA ON A CHICAGO, IL, RESIDENTIAL CITY STREET WHERE A CREW HAD PLACED METAL PLATES IN THE ROAD TO COVER UP A HOLE OR SOMETHING SIMILAR. IT WAS A STRAIGHT STRETCH OF ROAD ON A SLIGHT DOWNHILL SLOPE ON A SUNNY EARLY EVENING, WITH THE SUN BEHIND THE VEHICLE. I WAS PROBABLY TRAVELING ABOUT 20 MPH. AS I APPROACHED THE METAL PLATES, THE VEHICLE'S AUTOMATIC BREAKING KICKED IN AND BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO AN ABRUPT, IMMEDIATE STOP. THE BREAKS SQUEALED AND YOU COULD SMELL RUBBER FROM THE TIRES BURNING. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO CAR BEHIND ME. ONCE WE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, I TAPPED THE BRAKE AND THE CAR STARTED ROLLING FORWARD. THERE WERE NO FURTHER INCIDENTS SINCE THEN. A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAD OCCURRED A FEW MONTHS AGO BUT IN THAT CASE THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE BRAKES ACTIVATED BUT DISENGAGED BEFORE THE CAR CAME TO A STOP. THAT WAS ON A SLIGHT UPHILL SLOPE, HOWEVER., GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL THIS SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED.
OIL DILUTION CAUSE ENGINE WEAR IN SHORT TIME
I WAS DRIVING FROM VIRGINIA BEACH, VA TO MIDLOTHIAN, VA ON STATE 288 NORTH (WWII VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 50-60 MPH FAR LEFT LANE. I WAS USING CRUISE CONTROL. SUDDENLY SMOKE STARTED TO APPEAR FROM WHAT I THOUGHT WAS ANOTHER VEHICLE HOWEVER, I QUICKLY REALIZED IT WAS FROM MY VEHICLE WHAT APPEARED FROM UNDER MY HOOD. I IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN, PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND MOVED TO THE FAR-RIGHT SHOULDER JUST SHORT OF MILE MARKER 10. I WAS TRAVELING WITH A COWORKER AND WE BOTH EXISTED THE VEHICLE AND WHITE SMOKE IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO FILL THE INTERIOR FROM THE SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD. WE CLOSED BOTH DOOR AND STARTED TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE ALONG THE SHOULDER. WE BOTH KNELT DOWN TO SEE WHAT APPEARED TO BE FIRE DRIPPING FROM THE UNDERSIDE TO THE ASPHALT. AT THIS POINT IN TIME WE STARTED TO SEE FLAMES COME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND BEGIN TO ENGULF THE CARE IN LESS THAN 10 MIN. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911 FROM MY COWORKERS' PHONE BECAUSE LEFT MINE IN THE VEHICLE AND DARED NOT TO REENTER IT. A PASSERBY WHO HAPPENED TO BE A VOLUNTEER FIREMAN STOPPED AND ATTEMPTED TO USE HIS VEHICLES FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO PUT OUT THE FLAME BUT IT WAS TOO LARGE A FIRE. THE STATE TROOPERS ARRIVED IN ABOUT 10 MIN THEN THE FIRE TRUCKS ARRIVED ABOUT 10 MIN AFTER. BY THEN THE ENTIRE CARE WAS IN DARK BLACK SMOKE WITH FLAMES ALL AROUND IT. WE HEARD SEVERAL EXPLOSIONS WHICH THE FIREFIGHTERS SAID WERE MY TIRES AND AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT CANISTERS. THE FIREFIGHTERS PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH A FOAM AGENT AND PROCEEDED TO CHECK FOR REMAINING HEAT. NO INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO US STOPPING DUE TO SEEING THE SMOKE. THIS VEHICLE IS SERVICED AT THE NORMAL INTERVALS BY PRIORITY HONDA IN CHESAPEAKE, VA WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND I'VE NO ISSUES PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving and making a sharp left turn, the steering wheel would vibrate and would make abnormal grinding sounds. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM), the steering gear, the driver's side spring, the driver's side strut and other unknown parts were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer's technical support assisted the dealer in diagnosing that the electric steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the infotainment system would make abnormally loud beeping sounds, and the infotainment screen pad was engaging functions independently. The contact stated that the infotainment system failed to turn off upon turning off the vehicle. The dealer replaced the infotainment system; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the windshield had cracked without impact and was replaced. The contact also stated that upon opening the vehicle, the driver's seat would independently move significantly closer to the steering wheel. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
THE SUNROOF KEEP LEAKING WATER TO THE TRUNK. I GOT IT REPAIRED 3 TIME. THE ISSUES HAPPEN DURING A RAINSTORM OR GOING TO A CARWASH:
WHILE DRIVING OUR 2017 HONDA CRV TODAY WITH OUR YOUNG GRANDCHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY THE GEAR SHIFT BUTTON ON THE SHIFTER AND A SPRING SUDDENLY POPPED OUT AND FELL ON THE FLOOR. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND OBVIOUSLY COULD NOT SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK OR REVERSE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND MAKE IT BACK TO OUR HOUSE. I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS ISSUE. I HAVE READ OF SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING AND THE CRV REQUIRING TO BE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. HONDA NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS THE SERIOUS GAS IN OIL ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. WE LIVE IN AN AREA WITH SEVERE WINTER WEATHER AND THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING STRANDED BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT IS DANGEROUS.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND HEARD A LOUD BANG THAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT. ONCE PULLED OVER, I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE BANG OCCURRED WHEN MY SUNROOF HAD SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED.
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A 2 LANE ROAD AT ABOUT 35 MP/HR I NOTICED A LARGE METAL PLATE THAT A UTILITY COMPANY HAD USED TO COVER A HOLE IN THE ROAD. AS THE CAR APPROACHED THE PLATE, THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM ACTIVATED UNEXPECTEDLY, THROWING ME VIOLENTLY FORWARD IN THE SEAT. THERE WERE 2 CARS BEHIND ME THAT ALMOST REAR ENDED ME. I REPORTED THIS INCIDENT TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP AND TO AMERICAN HONDA CLIENT SERVICES WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS AND ASKED THAT THE CMBS FEATURE BE DISABLED BECAUSE I FEAR IT WILL ACTIVATE AGAIN UNEXPECTEDLY AT SOME POINT, CAUSING A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND, OR, A REAR END COLLISION. THEY SAID THAT THE FEATURE COULD NOT BE DISABLED. IT COULD ONLY BE SHUT DOWN BY AN ON/OFF BUTTON ON THE DASH. HOWEVER, IT AUTOMATICALLY RESETS WHEN YOU START THE ENGINE. BECAUSE OF THIS UNEXPECTED AND VIOLENT EXPERIENCE, I FEEL THAT THE CMBS IS A DANGEROUS FEATURE AND THAT IT COULD CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I'M ASKING THAT THE NHTSA GET HONDA TO FIX THE CMBS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. THANK YOU.
WHILE CHANGING THE OIL MYSELF AT 14,00 MILES I NOTICED THE OIL LEVEL WAS MORE THAN A HALF INCH ABOVE THE FULL LINE AND SMELLED OF STRONGLY OF GASOLINE I CHECKED ONLINE TO SEE IF OTHER CRV OWENERS WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH HONAS 1.5 TURBO ENGINE. AFTER READING ABOUT THE ISSUE I WAS REMINDED OF TWO INSTANCES THIS PAST WINTER WHEN THE VEHICLE CABIN SMELLED STRONGLY OF GASOLINE, BOTH TIMES WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC.
VEHICLE WAS AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON A LOCAL STREET WHEN THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE BRAKING AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED. NOT A SINGLE VEHICLE OR OBJECT WAS IN FRONT OF THE CAR.CAR CAME TO A SCREECHING HALT. HAD TO VEER OFF ONTO CENTER OF THE ROAD ONTO LEFT TURN ONLY LANE TO AVOID REAR CAR CRASH. DANGEROUS CONDITION. LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. STEPPING ON THE BRAKES OR ACCELERATOR COULD NOT OVERRIDE THE EVENT TILL CAR CAME TO A SCREECHING HALT.
I PURCHASED THIS 1.5 TURBO AND FOUND OUT LATER THE GASOLINE FLOWS INTO THE OIL PAN MIXING TOGETHER. HONDA SAYS THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND I DISAGREE . WHILE PURCHASING THIS HONDA , THE DEALERSHIP NEVER MENTIONED THIS SITUATION. I FEEL THAT I PURCHASED THIS HONDA CR-V , 1.5 TURBO UNDER FRAUDULENT TERMS. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT WHEN GASOLINE IS MIXED WITH OIL, THE OIL PROTECTION IS REDUCED PROPORTIONATELY. RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED, (XXXXX) PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
CR-V WITH NOW 6000 MILES ON IT GETS OIL IN GAS. OIL CHANGED AT DEALER TWICE. DEALER SAYS HONDA KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, BUT MY CAR VIN NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. HAVE CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA BUT WAS UNABLE TO GET FIX AUTHORIZED. THIS CAR IS DEFECTIVE AND UNDER WARRANTY. GETTING FIX SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM! GAS IN OIL MAY ALSO BE A FIRE HAZARD.
ENGINE STALLED AFTER MORE THAN 2 HOURS HIGHWAY DRIVE; AFTER 20 MINUTES BREAK THE ENGINES RAN AGAIN; THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED TWICE OVER LAST 2 WEEKS.
TAILGATE WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO REASON. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. I OPENED THE BACKSEAT DRIVER SIDE DOOR TO GET SOMETHING FROM THE BACKSEAT AND WITHIN SECONDS HEARD A LOUD POP. I LOOKED UP AND OUT THE BACK WINDOW AND IT WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. IT WAS STILL ALL IN TACT, JUST SHATTERED. I LOOKED AT THE WINDOW AND THERE WAS NO APPARENT REASON WHY IT WOULD HAVE SHATTERED. WHEN I SHUT THE DOOR A LARGE CHUNK FROM THE MIDDLE FELL INTO THE CAR.
FUEL MIXING IN OIL SYSTEM, LOOSING POWER THAT CAN CAUSE AN ACIDENT.
MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION TRAVELING AT 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET. MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY FLASHED THE BRAKE WARNING AND THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED AUTOMATICALLY UNTIL THE VEHICLE REACHED A FULL STOP. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THIS AS THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME OR ANY OTHER OBSTACLE IN MY PATH. NO CAR WAS IN THE ONCOMING LANE EITHER. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THIS VEHICLE UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS.
THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL INCREASES AS THE CAR IS DRIVEN. CHANGED OIL AFTER 7500 MILE INTERVAL, AND THE USED OIL WAS 1.2 QUARTS MORE THAN WHEN FIRST INSTALLED. OIL IS BEING DILUTED
MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH WITH NO TREES OR BRIDGES AROUND IT. WHEN I GOT INTO MY CAR AND CLOSED THE DOOR THE SUNROOF FELL IN ON ME. IT'S WAS A SPIDERWEB CRACK ACROSS THE ENTIRE ROOF. IT WAS 93 DEGREES AND SUNNY. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE ROOF WHEN I CLOSED THE SUN ROOF ABOUT 8 HOURS EARLIER WHEN I ARRIVED AT WORK. THE CAR HAS 7K MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN PARKED IN A GARAGE FOR PAST 6 MONTHS WHILE I WAS DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO IMPACT TO CAUSE THE DAMAGE.
AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN RANDOMLY STARTS FLASHING AND BEEPING. WITH THE BRIGHTNESS CONTROL BAR POPPING UP AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN. THIS IS VERY DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIME WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF. THIS IS A BIG SAFTEY ISSUE FOR SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE AND IT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT FOR SOMEONE. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY I BELIVE IT MAY HAPPEN WHEN THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED AND THE CAR HAS AN ANDROID PHONE ATTACHED HOWEVER I AM UNABLE TO REPLICATE IT. IT HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. MY VEHICLE HAS 8000 MILES ON IT. ADDITIONALLY THERE ARE REPORT ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS HAS HAPPEND TO OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL. I REPORTED THIS BY TELEPHONE TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT HONDA AS WELL 0N 05/30/2019 . I ALSO HAD AN ISSUE THAT ONETIME THIS WINTER I STARTED THE CAR AND THE SUNROOF AUTOMATICALLY OPENED AND COULD NOT BE CLOSED FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR. LUCKILY IT WAS NOT RAINING OR SNOWING THAT DAY. THERE SEEMS TO BE A NUMBER OF ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM ON THIS VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2018 CRV-EX THE DASHBOARD INFO DISPLAY WILL RANDOMLY ADJUST BRIGHTNESS AND TURN IT ON/OFF. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IT IS TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR. VERY DANGEROUS. WILL DO IT TWICE IN ONE DAY AND THEN NOT HAPPEN FOR SEVERAL DAYS.
THERE ARE RECURRING PROBLEMS WITH THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM DISPLAY: 1. NUMEROUS TIMES THE DISPLAY HAS GONE FULL FREAK-OUT WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. THE DISPLAY TURNS ITSELF ON AND OFF, ATTEMPTS TO ADJUST ITS OWN BRIGHTNESS AND REPEATEDLY BEEPS. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE MADNESS IS TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. THIS IS A TOTALLY UNCOOL THING TO HAPPEN WHEN ONE IS TRYING TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE TRAFFIC AROUND THEM. PLEASE ALSO REFERENCE NHTSA COMPLAINT #11132814 FOR THIS SAME VEHICLE. 2. EVEN THOUGH THE TOUCH SCREEN SENSITIVITY IS SET THE HIGHEST LEVEL, SOMETIMES YOU MUST PRESS THE 'CYBER BUTTONS' REPEATEDLY BEFORE THE UNIT REGISTERS THAT YOU HAVE PRESSED A BUTTON. WHILE I AM MOTORING DOWN THE ROAD PRESSING FAUX BUTTONS 10-15 TIMES TO TRY TO GET THE UNIT TO DO SOMETHING GUESS WHERE MY EYES ARE NOT'YEAH, ON THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME WHERE MY EYES SHOULD BE PAYING ATTENTION. THE MANUFACTURER STATES THAT MY INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM DISPLAY/CONTROL UNIT IS WORKING PER SPEC.
3 TIME WHILE DRIVING ON THE FWY 65 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, LANE CONTROL ACTIVATED, AND THE DISTANCE SET TO MINIMUM, WITH NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME, THE CAR DETECTED THE CAR TO THE RIGHT OF ME AND SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, AND CAUSING THE PERSON BEHIND ME TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKE ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAPPENED BETWEEN APRIL OF 2019 AND OCT OF 2019. WHEN I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS DIRT ON THE MILLIWAVE RADAR, FOUND CODE P2583-97, I FOUND THIS TO BE HIGHLY UNLIKELY BECAUSE THE CAR WAS SPOTLESS. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THE COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WHEN ASKED HOW THEY DIAGNOSED THE CAR THEY SAID THEY DROVE IT 10 MILES DOWN A BOLSA CHICA RD. I TOLD THE SEVICE PERSON THAT THAT WAS NOT THE SAME CONDITIONS AS I WAS DRIVING AND THAT THEY COULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN THE CAR UP TO 65 MPH WHEN THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 45 MPH AND IT WASN'T A FWY. HER RESPONSE WAS WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE CARS ON THE FWY. I SAID THEN HOW ARE YOU DO DUPLICATE THE CONDITION OF THE PROBLEM. THIS CAR HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR MULTABLE ELECTRONIC ISSUE, NONE OF WHICH HAVE BEEN SOLVED YET. ALL I GET IS THE SAME ANSWER, CANT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS CAR HAS HAD THESE PROBLEMS SINCE IT WAS SOLD NEW AND THE PERSON BEFORE ME TURNED THIS CAR IN WITH ONLY 8000 MILES ON IT FOR A NEW CAR THAT THEY COULD TRUST. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AD COULD CAUSE ME TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT THATS NOT MY FAULT.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently started braking. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that she started to pull over however, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to an unknown Honda dealer in Las Vegas who was unable to diagnose a failure. The contact stated that the failure recurred 6 months later. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer. The contact stated that the failure continued and the vehicle was taken to Sierra Honda of Monrovia (721 E Central Ave, Monrovia, CA 91016, (626) 739-2200), who advised the contact to turn off the Collision Mitigation feature each time the vehicle was restarted. The contact stated that with the feature disabled, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the experience was frightening because she felt that she would be rear-ended driving on the freeway at high speeds. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised her to take the vehicle to a dealer to be diagnosed for the mechanic to retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was taken to the dealer Norm Reeves Honda Superstore West Covina (1840 E Garvey Ave S, West Covina, CA 91791) who test drove the vehicle, however, was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that a case was opened with the manufacturer. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.
REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WINDOW GLASS SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I HEARD A LOUD POP BEFORE THE GLASS SHATTERED. THERE WERE NO VEHICLES TO THE RIGHT OF OR IN FRONT OF MY CAR WHEN IT HAPPENED, SINCE I WAS IN THE RIGHT-MOST LANE OF TRAFFIC. THEREFORE, THE GLASS COULD NOT HAVE BEEN SHATTERED BY DEBRIS.

IT HAPPEN TWICE IN THE SAME LOCATION ONE MONTH APART, EACH TIME I CAME FROM A DIFFERENT DIRECTION. SPEED WAS LOW, ABOUT 15 MILES/H. IT WAS IN A VERY BIG PARKING LOT DRIVING STRAIGHT.

FIVE LANE ROAD - TWO LANES EACH DIRECTION AND A MIDDLE TURN LANE -- AND STRAIGHT IN THIS AREA. TURNED RIGHT ONTO THE ROAD FROM AN INTERSECTION AND GOT UP TO SPEED. THE WARNING SOUND FROM THE ACCIDENT AVOIDANCE SYSTEM BEEPED THREE TIMES WHILE THE BRAKES WERE HARSHLY APPLIED CAUSING LIGHT SKIDDING IN DRY CONDITIONS. THEN THE BRAKES WERE JUST AS SUDDENLY RELEASED. HAPPENED VERY QUICKLY AND WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IF I WAS IN TRAFFIC. MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE BRAKING FORCE MADE ME PUSH THE PEDAL MORE. EXTREMELY UNSAFE INCIDENT. VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 3,710 MILES, 2018 CR-V EX 1.5 TURBO AWD WITH CVT.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
RADIO SCREEN RANDOMLY STARTS ADJUSTING ITS BRIGHTNESS. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS 4/32/19, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THEN ALL WHILE DRIVING AND THERE IS NOTHING I COULD DO TO MAKE IT STOP OTHER THEN RESTARTING THE CAR. IT IS VERY DISTRACTING BECAUSE IT IS CONSTANTLY BEEPING WHILE IT IS TRYING TO MAKE THIS ADJUSTMENT. I TRIED TURNING THE RADIO OFF, THIS DID NOT HELP. I WAS TOLD BY THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TO HIT THE DIM BUTTON ON THE SCREEN, BUT THIS DID NOT WORK EITHER. THE ONLY WAY THAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THIS IS TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY/ROAD TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON.
GASOLINE IS MIXING WITH OIL. OVERFILLING THE DIPSTICK LINE. THE OIL HAS THE SMELL OF GASOLINE. RECALL PERFORMED AT DEALERSHIP IN DEC 2018 DID NOT TAKE CARE OF PROBLEM. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP APRIL 19 2019 FOUND TO BE A QUART OVERFILLED MIXED WITH GADOLINE
THERE ARE 3 SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES IN THE BACK SEAT. IN ORDER TO BUCKLE THE LEFT REAR SEATBELT (BEHIND DRIVERS SIDE) THE BELT HAS TO CROSS-OVER THE BUCKLE FOR THE CENTER SEAT BELT. THIS EFFECTIVELY RENDERS ONE OF THE 3 SEAT BELTS USELESS. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY IF TRYING TO HAVE 2 PASSENGERS PLUS A CHILD SEAT IN THE BACK. I ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE HONDA DEALER IN WILMINGTON NC TO FIX IT, AND HE SAID THEY ARE "ALL LIKE THAT" AND THAT IT CANNOT BE REVERSED.

WHILE DRIVING OUR 2018 HONDA CR-V TOURING CAR, THE INSTRUMENT-NAVIGATION PANEL RANDOMLY STARTED FLASHING, BLINKING, AND BEEPING ON AND OFF CONTINUOUSLY. REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO HONDA DEALERSHIP, WHO COMMENTED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM. HONDA IS AWAITING A SOLUTION. (BUT READING COMMENTS ON LINE - APPARENTLY THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS!). STOPPED AND TURNED OFF CAR, THEN RESTARTED. SO FAR PROBLEM HAS NOT REOCCURRED, BUT THERE ARE CONCERNS IF THIS IS KNOWN 2-3 YEAR OLD PROBLEM THAT HASN'T YET BEEN SOLVED.
ON TWO OCCASIONS THE AUTOMATIC BREAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED. ON THE FIRST OCCASION, I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND THE ROAD WAS COMPLETELY CLEAR WITH NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME OR OBJECTS IN THE ROAD. ON THE SECOND OCCASION, I WAS DRIVING OVER A RAILROAD TRACK AT APPROXIMATELY 10 OR 15 MPH. THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME. BOTH TIMES THE BREAKS ENGAGED ABRUPTLY AND I WAS LUCKY THERE WERE NO CARS FOLLOWING CLOSELY OR IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED A COLLISION.
INITIAL OIL CHANGE ON 2018 HONDA CR-V EX WITH 1.5 TURBO ENGINE AT 2303 MILES. ONE WEEK AFTER CHANGING OIL NOTICED OIL LEVEL HAD INCREASED OVER 1/8" ON DIPSTICK AND THAT OIL ON DIPSTICK SMELLS STRONGLY OF GASOLINE (OIL LEVEL CHECK WAS PERFORMED SEVERAL HOURS AFTER DRIVING). DILUTION OF OIL WITH GASOLINE IS OBVIOUSLY DETRIMENTAL TO CONTINUED ENGINE OPERATION - THEREFORE I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE MY NEW VEHICLE. RESEARCH OF THE ISSUE AND IDENTICAL SYMPTOMS FROM NUMEROUS OWNERS CLEARLY PROVES THAT HONDA DOES NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS CATASTROPHIC DESIGN FLAW (NOT IN AMERICA ANYWAY). APPEARS ONLY POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS ARE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, LEMON LAWS OR WAITING FOR HONDA TO MAN UP. THE OBVIOUS MISINFORMATION AND CORRUPTION OF THE MANUFACTURER TOWARD THEIR CUSTOMERS, CONCERNING THIS WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE, IS (IMHO) DISGUSTING! IT IS NOT NORMAL OR IN ANYWAY SAFE OR OK FOR ENGINE CRANKCASES TO FILL UP WITH GASOLINE....EVER!!! THE FUEL IN OIL ISSUE IS NOT THE ISSUE (DESIGN FLAWS HAPPEN WHEN MANUFACTURERS FAIL TO PROPERLY TEST NEW DESIGNS)...HONDA'S CORRUPT TREATMENT OF CUSTOMERS WITH THE ISSUE IS THE REAL ISSUE AND CONTINUED SIMILAR BEHAVIOR JUST MIGHT PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS PERMANENTLY.
I NOTICED MY OIL WAS OVERFILLED EARLY IN APRIL 2019. HONDA HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH 2017 & 2018 CRVS WITH THE 1.5 TWIN TURBO ENGINES WITH GASOLINE GETTING INTO THE OIL, I CALLED HONDA CORP & THEY HAD VALLEY HONDA LOOK AT THE CAR. THEY REMOVED 1/2 QT OIL FROM THE CAR. YOU CAN SMELL THE GASOLINE IN THE OIL THEY SAID THE CAR IS SAFE & DRIVE IT. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE CAR % WARRANTY ON THE ENGINE... THE CHINESE GOVT HAD HONDA RECALL ALL THESE CRVS BUT I CANT FIND OUT WHAT THE RECALL INVOLVED.. CAN U HELP ME... THANK YOU
I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL MULTIPLE (10-12) TIMES. THE CR-V SEEMS TO "LOSE" THE CAR IN FRONT CAUSING IT TO ACCELERATE (IF THE PERSON IN FRONT OF YOU IS GOING SLOWER THAN YOUR CRUISE IS SET FOR). THEN WHEN IT "FINDS" THE CAR AGAIN AND IT BRAKES SUDDENLY. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF AGO COMPLAINING. THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE AND SENT ME ALONG WITH NO FIX.
I was driving and my ABS engaged without any one or anything in front of my vehicle. I was traveling at 40mph, suddenly the "BRAKE" visual illuminated on my dashboard and before I even knew what was happening my vehicle came to a complete stop. Thankful no injuries and no one was behind me. I took it to the dealership for inspection, and they said there was nothing they could do to address the 'fluke' issue and that no errors would be found on a diagnostic scan. There wouldn't be any error codes if the SUV's automatic breaking system engaged, because the car must of 'seen something' that caused it to react this way.
THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGES WHEN THERE IS NO IMMINENT DANGER. SOMETIMES IT OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT EXITS ONTO AN OFF-RAMP AND SLOWS DOWN. EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NOT IN FRONT OF MY CAR, THE AUTO BRAKING TRIGGERS. IN OTHER SITUATIONS THERE HAS BEEN NO DISCERNABLE REASON FOR THE BRAKES TO TRIGGER, CREATING A SIGNIFICANT DANGER OF BEING REAR-ENDED BY THE CAR FOLLOWING ME. IN THE LATTER CASE, IT HAPPENS MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN THERE THERE IS A COMMERCIAL-SIZE TRUCK IN THE RIGHT LANE - USUALLY NOT SLOWING DOWN OR MANEUVERING IN ANY APPARENT WAY.
WE WERE DRIVING FROM BRIDGEPORT,WV TO NEW JERSEY ON 2/9/19. FOUR HOURS INTO THE TRIP CARALL THE LIGHTS ON DASH BOARD CAME ON AND CAR SLOWED DOWN AND ACCELERATOR DID NOT WORK AT THAT POINT. CAR STOPPED ON THE HIGH WAY. WE PULLED OVER CALLED AAA SERVICE AND TOYOTA. WE TOOK THE CAR IN TO HONDA OF TURNERSVILLE, NJ THEY FIX MULTIPLE DTC UPDATED PO302 RELATED RECALL, UPDATED PCM/TCU NO MORE MISFIRE. CAR NOW WE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. THIS WEEK ITS TWICE.

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT CONSOLE MALFUNCTIONED AND THE BACK-UP CAMERA WOULD APPEAR WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN REVERSE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS A SOFTWARE MALFUNCTION AND THEY WERE WORKING ON A REPAIR SOLUTION. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,900.
GASOLINE DILUTES ENGINE OIL UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL WAS APPROXIMATELY 1/4 INCH ABOVE THE MAXIMUM OIL FILL LINE ON THE DIPSTICK AFTER 5000 MILES. INFORMED DEALER AND AMERICAN HONDA. I WAS TOLD THERE IS NO FIX AVAILABLE FOR MY VEHICLE.
