I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON DRY ROADS WITH LIGHT TRAFFIC DUE TO IT BEING SPRING BREAK IN ATLANTA. I WAS DRIVING AT 48 MPH AND SUDDENLY IT WAS AS IF SOMEONE HAD STOMPED ON THE BRAKES HARD. THE CAR SLOWED VERY QUICKLY TO 30 MPH. A CAR THAT WAS FOLLOWING ME AT SIMILAR SPEED HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID RUNNING INTO THE BACK OF ME. THERE WAS NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME THAT COULD HAVE TRIGGERED A BREAKING RESPONSE AND I DID NOT DEVIATE FROM MY LANE EITHER. THIS WAS A COMPLETELY RANDOM EVENT. 10 MINUTES LATER AS I GOT CLOSER TO WORK THE LANE DIVERSION WARNING CAME ON, AGAIN WITH ME BEING ROCKY STEADY IN MY LANE. I THINK THE SENSORS MAY HAVE BEEN READING ANY WHITES LINES IN THE ROAD, LIKE A CROSSWALK OR WHITE LANE TURN ARROW.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HWY, MULTIPLE TIMES NOW, ALL OF THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS COME ON CONCERNING THE SENSING SYSTEMS AND BRAKE SYSTEM. I HAVE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES NOW WITH NO REAL ANSWERS. IT'S YOUR TOLL TAG PLACEMENT - NOPE. IT'S AN OLD CODE THAT WE RESET - NOPE. IT ISN'T HAPPENING NOW - THEN I LEAVE AND IT HAPPENS THE NEXT DAY. WHERE DO I REPORT A 35K LEMON???
LANE DEPARTURE AND COLLISION CONTROL OFTEN ENGAGE WITHOUT CAUSE. TWICE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND THE LANE DEPARTURE SENSORS GO OFF AND VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY BRAKES FOR NO OBVIOUS REASON. IT APPEARS THAT IT MAY BE FALSELY READING SHADOWS OR WET ROADWAYS. ONE INCIDENT WAS ON A CITY STREET AT ABOUT 40 MPH. THE OTHER WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AT AROUND 70 MPH.
ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, IT STARTED VIBRATING, AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, BURNING SMELL OCCURRED, SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS CAME UP ON THE DASHBOARD. WE HAD TO NAVIGATE THE CAR FROM THE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY VERY ABRUPTLY. IT WAS A NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE AS SEVERAL TRUCKS AND CARS WERE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT VERY FAST SPEEDS. REPORTED THE FIRST OCCURRENCE TO THE MCGRATH CITY HONDA, CHICAGO, IL IN JANUARY 2019 ALONG WITH THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT PICTURES AND THEY REPLACED SOME FUEL SENSORS AND INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE (DEFECTIVE PART). SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED IN FEBRUARY 2019, COULD NOT TAKE PHOTOS AS THE PROBLEMS WENT AWAY AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE. REPORTED THE THIRD INCIDENT IN MARCH 2019 ALONG WITH THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT PICTURES TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH FUEL INJECTOR AND THEY PLACED THE ORDER FOR THE PART. WE ARE REALLY, REALLY SCARED OF DRIVING THIS DEFECTIVE, MALFUNCTIONING AND HAZARDOUS VEHICLE. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET LAST NIGHT AND IT SEEMS SEVERAL OTHER HONDA CRV OWNERS ARE HAVING THESE ISSUES. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS SERIOUS ISSUE AND SAVE THE PEOPLE.
OIL DILUTED BY GAS. GAS SMELL IN OIL. ALSO CAUSES OVERFILL OF CRANKCASE. GAS IN OIL DILUTES OIL CAUSING EXCESSIVE AND UNNECESSARY WEAR AND TEAR.
SECOND TIME THIS CAR'S WARNING SYSTEM HAS ACTIVATED SINCE HAVING THE RECALLED A/C PART REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING (HWY SPEEDS 65+ MPH)THE CAR IS LOSING ACCELERATION ABILITY IN TRAFFIC AND THE DASH IS READING: POWER STEERING SYSTEM PROBLEM ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR PROBLEM EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM PROBLEM BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM BRAKE HOLD SYSTEM PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER THEY COULD NOT TELL WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, BUT NOW THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE SINCE FEB 2019.
MY WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE JUST ABOVE ONE OF THE AIR VENTS (IN MARCH 2019) OVERNIGHT WHILE PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT TO MY APARTMENT COMPLEX. NO OTHER CARS WERE NEAR IT FOR THE CRACK TO OCCUR, AND THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF IMPACT. I TOOK IT INTO HONDA (HONDA OF LISLE) THE NEXT DAY TO HAVE THEM INSPECT IT AND THE DEALERSHIP DEEMED IT "NON-IMPACT" CAUSED BASED ON THEIR INVESTIGATION. HOWEVER, SINCE IT WAS WINDSHIELD DAMAGE, THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TO SUBMIT IT TO THEIR REGIONAL DIRECTOR WHO WOULD MAKE THE FINAL CALL AND DETERMINE WHETHER IT WOULD BE COVERED BY THE HONDA AS A SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCE UNDER THE WARRANTEE (THE CAR WAS ONLY TWO MONTHS OLD). AFTER SUBMITTING IT TO HIM, CUSTOMER RELATIONS INFORMED ME, SEVERAL DAYS LATER, THAT THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR DEEMED THE CRACK "IMPACT CAUSED" BASED ON HIS VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE PICTURES THAT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP HAD SENT HIM, CONTRADICTING THEIR DECISION. I APPEALED AND GOT A SECOND OPINION FROM SAFELITE, WHO DEEMED THE CRACK NON-IMPACT CAUSED AS WELL. AMERICAN HONDA REJECTED MY APPEAL. I ALSO DISCOVERED A FORUM DISCUSSING SIMILAR CRACKS OCCURRING ON THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL. I RELAYED THIS INFORMATION AND HONDA STILL REFUSED TO COVER THE WINDSHIELD UNDER THE WARRANTEE. I WROTE A LETTER TO CORPORATE, AND HONDA AGAIN, REFUSED. I ASKED CUSTOMER RELATIONS UNDER WHAT CONDITIONS HONDA WOULD COVER WINDSHIELD DAMAGE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEALERSHIP ALONE WOULD HAVE TO RULE IT A DEFECT. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT DEEM THE CRACK A DEFECT BECAUSE IT WAS GLASS RELATED, AND REQUIRED UPPER MANAGEMENT APPROVAL. AFTER SPEAKING WITH HONDA REPRESENTATIVES AT OTHER DEALERSHIPS, THEY INFORMED ME THAT WHEN IT CAME TO GLASS AND SIMILAR NON-STANDARD WARRANTY CLAIM, THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE WARRANTY AND REVIEW PROCESS THAT PUT OTHER CUSTOMERS IN SIMILAR POSITION AS ME
I WAS DRIVING TO GET LICENSE RENEWED WHEN MY CAR LOST POWER AND BEGAN TO COAST. THE ENGINE WAS ON AND I HAD TO GUN IT TO PICK UP SPEED. I TURNED AROUND AND HEADED FOR THE HONDA DEALERSHIP. UPON GETTING THERE ALL SYSTEMS WERE LIT UP MAINTENANCE WISE AND SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF THE UNDERSIDE WHERE THE BRAKES ARE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID WHEN SHE WENT AROUND THE CAR THAT IT WAS SO HOT IT WOULD HAVE BURNED HER. SERVICE TECH SAID LEFT FRONT BRAKES EXTREMLY HEATED AND SMOKE COMING FROM THE AREA. FOUND BRAKES HAVE GOTTEN HOT. CLEARED CODE PRESENT C0040-12. BRAKE SWITCH STUCK ON. I ADVISED NEVER USED HOLD BRAKE UNLESS I WAS SITTING ON STEEP HILL. TECH UNABLE TO MAKE VEHICLE DO WHAT IT WAS DOING TO ME BUT, THE MINUTE I GOT IT OUT ON THE HIGHWAY, IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. TECH ADVISED BRAKE PADS OK AND ROTORS HAVE SOME HEAT SPOTS IN THEM BUT OK. THEY WENT AHEAD AND CHANGED THE OIL!!!!
THE REAR CENTER AND REAR LEFT PASSENGER SEATBELT LATCH REQUIRES FOR THE TWO SEATBELTS TO BE ENTANGLED TOGETHER TO BE LATCHED. IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AS THEY CANNOT BE USED IN TANDEM, WHICH MEANS THAT ONLY TWO OCCUPANTS CAN BE SAFELY TRANSPORTED IN THE REAR.
GASOLINE LEAKING INTO OIL. CHECKING DIPSTICK GIVES VERY STRONG SMELL OF GAS. AS YET NO STALLS. 5000 MILES ON OIL AND THE OIL LEVEL IS AT OR ABOVE FULL. CAR IS DRIVEN IN MODERATE CLIMATE AND FOR TYPICAL MIXTURE OF TRIPS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. AFTER PARKING AND LOCKING THE VEHICLE, AN AUDIBLE WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ALARM SOUNDED EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON WAS DEPRESSED, THE AUDIBLE SOUND FOR THE DOOR LOCK WOULD SOUND; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNLOCKED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DISPLAY WOULD OCCASIONALLY FLASH ON AND OFF AND THEN GO BLANK. ALSO, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CEASED TO WORK. COMMUNITY HONDA LAFAYETTE (LOCATED AT 1407 LA 728-8, LAFAYETTE, LA 70501, (337) 235-9086) STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WAS PROGRAMMED TO SLOW DOWN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING, WHICH WAS A FEATURE OF THE VEHICLE. AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WITH THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED FORGOT TO SAY AS I WAS GOING STRAIGHT ON HWY 90- A CAR WAS ON MY RIGHT IN THE TURN LANE- MY CAR STOPPED AND COPS WERE COMING BEHIND- ALMOST SLAMMED ARE ME IN THE BACK. DOORS NOT LACKING WHEN EXITED.*JB

OIL LEVEL ON DIP STICK IS ABOUT 1 AND 1/2 INCHES ABOVE HIGH MARK. OIL WAS CHANGED 6639 MILES AGO. CURRENT MILAGE IS 14200.
FUEL IS LEAKING INTO THE OIL SYSTEM. OIL HAS VERY STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. OIL DILUTION IS DOING UNTOLD DAMAGE TO ENGINE.
DRIVING VEHICLE HOME FROM WORK, ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH SPEED LIMIT. SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD SOUND IN DIRECTION ABOVE MY HEAD. I GLANCED UP AND FOUND THE SUNROOF GLASS ABOVE MY HEAD TO BE SHATTERED AND THE WIND CREATED BY DRIVING AT THAT SPEED TOOK SOME OF THE GLASS OFF AND I BELIEVE SHOWERED THE ROADWAY BEHIND ME. I NOW HAVE A LARGE HOLE IN THE SUNROOF GLASS AND WHAT GLASS REMAINS IS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. WHAT CAUSED THE GLASS TO SHATTER IS UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME.
RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2018 HONDA CR-V 2018, WITH EACH FILL UP OF GAS, THE CAR HAS STARTED SPITTING,SPUTTERING, WORSENING WITH EACH FILL UP. NOW THE CAR IS STALLING, THIS HAPPENED TWICE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, NOW EVERY WARNING LIGHT IS FLASHING, ROADSIDE SERVICE CAME TO PICK UP MY CAR, TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP WHO TELLS US, PER HONDA, THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE, YOU STILL HAVE THE ISSUES, WARNINGS ARE STILL FLASHING, BUT IT'S SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL WE CAN GET YOUR PARTS, HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO KNOW IF THERE IS TRULY AN ISSUE WITH MY CAR IF ALL THE WARNINGS ARE FLASHING UP . HOW IS THIS SAFE!!
OIL LEVEL ON DIP STICK IS 1/2 ' ABOVE THE FULL MARK. HONDA DEALERSHIP PERFORMED THE FACTORIES FIX IN JANUARY 2019. 2500 MILES LATER SAME THING OIL LEVEL IS A 1/2 ' ABOVE HIGH MARK ON DIP STICK. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY REFUSED TO EVEN CHECK THE OIL LEVEL. THEY HANDED ME A PIECE OF PAPER THAT STATES THAT THEY CONSIDER IT NORMAL DILUTION FROM UNTURNED GAS THAT DRAINS DOWN THE CYLINDER WALL AND INTO THE OIL PAN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS DARK OIL IN THE CRANK CASE. THE MECHANIC CHANGED THE OIL, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA OF EL CERRITO (866)-414-9404, LOCATED AT 11755 SAN PABLO AVE, EL CERRITO, CA 94530)WHERE THE TECHNICIAN CHANGED THE OIL AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR MORE TESTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,000.
MY 2018 HONDA CR-V IS HAVE A PROBLEM WITH OVERFILLED OIL LEVELS WITH A GAS MIXED WITH ENGINE OIL AND GAS SMELL, THIS IS DUE TO GAS LEAK INTO OIL RESERVOIRS. THIS IS A CAUSE FOR CONCERN OF LONGEVITY OF THE ENGINE AND HEALTH RISK CAUSE FROM GAS SMELL IN THE CABIN OF VEHICLE. NHTSA TO REQUIRED HONDA TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE TO GET IT FIX . MY VEHICLE ONLY HAVE 6100 MILES ON IT.
TERRIBLE GAS SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. VERY STRONG GAS ODOR ALMOST ENOUGH TO GIVE US A HEADACHE. WE GOOGLED GAS SMELL ISSUE FOR A 2018 CRV AND READ INFORMATION ABOUT CHECKING OIL TO SEE IF THE STRONG GAS SMELL IS COMING THERE. OIL DIPSTICK SMELLED VERY STRONG FOR GAS. PLAN TO CONTACT HONDA AND THE DEALER TOMORROW TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE.
TRAVERSING THRU AN INTERSECTION, MY HONDA CRV WAS T-BONED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE SIDE AIR BAGS INFLATED PROTECTING MYSELF AND MY WIFE. THE MOMENTUM OF THE COLLISION PUSHED ME INTO AN ONCOMING VEHICLE SUCH THAT THE FRONT END OF THE CRV WAS ALSO CRUSHED. NEITHER OF THE FRONT AIR BAGS INFLATED.
I WAS DRIVING TO HONDA DEALER ON MARCH 6, 2019 FOR MY SECOND OIL CHANGE AS A RESULT OF ME CALLING THE DEALERSHIP AND TELLING THEM MY OIL SMELLED LIKE IT HAD GAS IN IT AGAIN. THIS IS WITH LESS THAN 700 MILES SINCE THE FIRST OIL CHANGE THAT I HAD DONE ON FEBRUARY 13, 2019. MY FIRST OIL CHANGE WAS WITH 4525 MILES, THIS WAS DONE AS PART OF A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. ON THIS MARCH 6TH TRIP I WAS ABOUT 40 MILES AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND MY ACC (ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL) SHUT DOWN, THE COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM AND ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHTS ALL CAME UP ON DASH OF CAR AND KEPT SCROLLING ON DASH. WHEN MY CAR DID THIS I WAS UNSURE, FELT UNSAFE AND WAS FRUSTRATED AS NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS GOING ON AND HOW MANY MORE PROBLEMS I AM GOING TO HAVE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I FOUND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER AND CALLED THE DEALER AND TOLD HIM WHAT WAS GOING ON, HE SAID THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE BUT THOSE SYSTEMS THAT WERE SCROLLING ON DASH WEREN'T OPERATING. IT WAS 6 F OUTSIDE A CLEAR ROAD AND A SUNNY DAY IN NORTH DAKOTA. AFTER THE OIL CHANGE, I WAS TOLD THE OIL WAS HIGH AND THAT THERE WAS AGAIN GAS IN MY OIL AGAIN. AT THIS POINT I AM BEYOND FRUSTRATED AND WONDERING HOW MANY MORE PROBLEMS I WILL BE HAVING WITH THIS NEW VEHICLE AND THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP TO ME IS 100 MILES AWAY, WHICH CAUSES ME TIME AND EXPENSE TO GET TO DEALERSHIP. THIS ALSO CAUSES ME TO WONDER HOW RELIABLE THIS NEW VEHICLE CAN BE IN NORTH DAKOTA IN THE WINTER TIME AS ALSO NOT GETTING MUCH HEAT OUT OF THE HEATING SYSTEM EITHER, SO BETWEEN THE HEAT, THE GAS IN THE OIL AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS I AM NOT FEELING THAT THIS IS A SAFE DEPENDABLE VEHICLE TO DRIVE, AS A PERSON COULD FREEZE TO DEATH IF ENDED UP STRANDED WHEN THE CAR SHUTS DOWN AND NO HEAT, LIKE IT DID WHEN I HAD MY APPOINTMENT FOR THE RECALL ON 2-12-19 AND IT HAD TO BE PUT ON FLAT BED TRUCK TO GET RECALL DONE.
I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE THAT EXISTS IN MY 2018 HONDA CR-V. THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM ON MY HONDA WILL, ARBITRARILY, CYCLE THROUGH VARIOUS MENUS AND START BEEPING LOUDLY. THIS IS EXTREMELY DISTRACTING AND DIVERTS THE DRIVER'S ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE ROAD. IT IS UNBELIEVABLY ANNOYING AND IT COMPLETELY DESTROYS A DRIVER'S SITUATIONAL AWARENESS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS AN ENDEMIC PROBLEM WITH THE 2017-2019 CR-V AS WELL AS OTHER HONDA MODELS. IT CAN OCCUR AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING AND NUMEROUS EXAMPLES OF THIS FAILURE MODE CAN BE FOUND ON YOUTUBE. HONDA, HAS SUGGESTED THAT THE SOFTWARE IS AT FAULT AND ISSUED AN UPDATE, BUT THIS HAS DONE NOTHING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY, I WRITE THIS LETTER IN THE HOPE THAT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY SAFETY ADMINISTRATION TAKES ACTION AND INVESTIGATES THIS RECURRING PROBLEM. THERE ARE COUNTLESS STORIES ON HONDA FORUMS OF DRIVERS BEING DISTRACTED AND REMOVING THEIR ATTENTION FROM THE ROAD AS THE CENTER INFOTAINMENT SCREEN STARTS FLASHING AND BEEPING INCESSANTLY. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO TRACY HONDA (3450 AUTO PLAZA WAY, TRACY, CA 95304, (209) 832-1400). THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF FUEL MIXING WITH THE OIL AND DID NOT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. 2018 HONDA CR-V TOURING EDITION WITH 4,000 MILES ON IT IN KANSAS CITY, MO. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK, AN OVERWHELMING SMELL OF GASOLINE INVADED THE CABIN. AS I WAS ONLY A FEW MILES FROM HOME, I KEPT DRIVING, THINKING IT MAY HAVE BEEN FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE. HOWEVER, THE SMELL REMAINED. WHEN I GOT HOME AND PARKED IN THE GARAGE, I OPENED THE HOOD, AND IT WAS CLEAR MY ENGINE WAS THE SOURCE OF THE FUMES. HAD TO KEEP THE GARAGE OPEN FOR FEAR THE FUMES COULD IGNITE. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. DEALER CLAIMS THEY'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF ISSUE, AND IS CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING.
GASOLINE IN THE ENGINE OIL, THE ENGINE OIL IS OVERFILLED, AND SMELL THE GASOLINE. SENT THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALER, AND THEY DID OIL CHANGE AND TOLD ME THAT HONDA DID NOT HAVE A SOLUTION NOW.I AM WONDERING IF IT IS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR?
OIL BEING DILUTED WITH GAS. HONDA ISSUED A "SERVICE BULLETIN" ABOUT THIS. WE WILL BE TAKING IT IN FOR THE 3RD TIME FOR THIS PROBLEM. IN WISCONSIN, IF THEY FAIL TO FIX THE PROBLEM IN 4 TRIES, IT BECOMES A LEMON. I DON'T WANT IT TO COME TO THAT BECAUSE I AM SURE THAT WILL BE A BIG HASSLE, BUT THE LONG TERM PROBLEMS CAUSED BY GAS IN THE OIL MAY BE WORSE. NOT WHAT I EXPECT FROM HONDA!
I WAS DRIVING OUR 2018 HONDA CR-V 1.5L SUV (WITH 4200 MILES ODOMETER READING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT) ON SATURDAY, MARCH 2 ON IOWA STATE HIGHWAY 92 GOING APPROXIMATE 62MPH AND WERE 25 MILES FROM HOME WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST ENGINE POWER UNEXPECTEDLY AND WE HAD TO GO TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC COMING BEHIND US ON THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE TO MORE THAN 6MPH AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING WHEN ANY EFFORT TO ACCELERATE WAS MADE. WE CALLED HONDA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND WERE TOLD IT WOULD BE A 4 HOUR WAIT FOR A TOW. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE THAT DAY WAS 16 DEGREES ABOVE ZERO FAHRENHEIT . IT WAS 3 HOURS BEFORE A TOW SERVICE ARRIVED. OUR VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SMART HONDA IN DES MOINES, IOWA WHICH WAS THE CLOSEST HONDA DEALER. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SUSPECTED THE OIL DILUTION PROBLEM AND DID AN OIL CHANGE THAT DAY. WE WERE ASKED TO KEEP OUR VEHICLE AT SMART HONDA UNTIL THEY COULD COMPLETE THE SERVICE REQUIRED. WE WERE NOT GIVEN A LOANER VEHICLE TO USE WHILE THE CR-V WAS AT THE DEALER. WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN JULY 2018 AND IN OCTOBER OF 2018 WE RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM CONSUMER REPORTS ABOUT THE OIL DILUTION PROBLEM IN THE 2017-18 CR-V 1.5L ENGINES. WE DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INFO FROM HONDA CORPORATION UNTIL JANUARY 2019 WHEN WE GOT A LETTER ABOUT A SOFTWARE UPDATE DUE TO 'DRIVABILITY CONCERNS'. DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER IN IOWA, WE WERE NOT ABLE TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND THERE WAS NO EMERGENCY URGENCY IN THE LETTER WE RECEIVED. WE ARE HUGELY DISAPPOINTED AND UPSET ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND CONSIDER IT EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO HAVE A VEHICLE THAT CAN STALL AT ANYTIME AND ANYPLACE. A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS ENGINE SHOULD BE ISSUED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED WITH A STALLED ENGINE OCCURRING COMPLETELY AT RANDOM.
This is a report (with dash cam footage) I filed with Honda in March 4, 2019, (Case 09395155) and now that I know your office is investigating this same issue I wanted to make sure I sent it to you as well: As I was slowing down to approach a red light my car suddenly beeped and slammed on the brakes to a complete halt. I believe it detected a car that was making a lefthand turn into the lane next to me but there was no danger of it hitting me. The sudden brake lock jolted my passenger and me and we’re lucky neither of us were hurt except for some soreness and that no other car was behind as they would have certainly rear-ended us. This has happened before when I was on the freeway going 50mph a few weeks after I purchased the car, though instead of stopping it just suddenly slowed down; I had thought it misjudged the shadow of an overpass I was driving through as a solid object so disregarded the incident as a fluke until now. I’m worried this will happen again and hurt me or someone else. Since then, I've had a few issues with the automatic brake system enabling for a brief second to slow the car in reaction to nothing — and I'm still nervous this will happen again!
THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM OR WHATEVER IT IS CALLED SUDDENLY SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES WHEN I APPROACHED A SLIGHT LEFT CURVE IN THE ROAD AT 35 MILES PER HOUR (THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT). THE SYSTEM HAS ACTIVATE AT LEAST 3 TIMES BEFORE AT THE SAME PLACE IN THE RAD AND SAME SPEED, FOR NO APPARENT REASON OTHER THAN POSSIBLY A SIGN OR TREE THAT IS CLOSE TO THE EDBE OF THE ROAD. HOWEVER THIS TIME THE BRAKING WAS SO SEVERE IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IF A CAR HAD BEEN CLOSELY FOLLOWING ME. I PASS THIS PLACE IMULTIPLE TIMES EVERY WEEK FOR OVER A YEAR, BUT THE BRAKING PROBLEM HAS ONLY OCCURRED 4 OR 5 TIMES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED FOUR MORE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
ON MANY OCCASIONS MY CRV AUTO BRAKES HARD AND LANE KEEP FOLLOWS THE WRONG LINES. 2 EXAMPLES OF BRAKING: 1 - A PICKUP TRUCK WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN IN FRONT ON ME. AS A HUMAN I STARTED TO GO AROUND HIM TO THE LEFT AS HE TURNED BUT MY AUTO BRAKES LOCKED UP AND THE PERSON BEHIND ME CAME WITHIN INCHES FROM REAR ENDING ME THEN GOT ROAD RAGE AND CHASED ME FOR SOMETHING I DID NOT DO! COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! 2ND WAS ON A BEND IN THE ROAD - A WHITE MOVING TRUCK COMING THE OTHER WAY ON THE BEND MADE MY AUTO BRAKES LOCK UP HARD / NEAR A FULL STOP! THIS HAPPENS OFTEN BUT NOT USUALLY TO THESE EXTREMES. LANE KEEP - WHILE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WITH CRUISE AND LK ON I WENT THRU A RECENT CONSTRUCTION AREA AND MY HONDA STARTED TO FOLLOW OLD LINES AND PAINTED OVER W/ BLACK PAINT LINES - NOT THE NEW LINES FROM AFTER THE REPAIRS! IT WAS SCARY - ALMOST DROVE ME INTO A BARRIER! ON 1200 MILE TRIP TO FLORIDA MY CAR OFTEN WOULD HIT THE BRAKES FOR REASONS I COULD NOT TELL OR GO OUT OF THE NORMAL ROAD LINES OR THE ACC WOULD SLOW THE CAR TO A CRAWL FOR TRUCKS IN THE OTHER LANE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER - THEY SAY NPF. ONE GUY DID SAY TO ADJUST THE SENSITIVITY WHICH I DID BUT IT STILL BRAKES WHEN IT SHOULD NOT. MY WIFES CAR DOES NOT REACT THIS WAY.
Sun visor will not go back to its upright position. It is set about 5 to 6 inches below where it should be. Leading edge is at about forehead level and has a hard frame (would not be fun in an accident). Issue was first noticed after a few months of use. I recently mentioned the condition to the dealer and they indicated that others have experienced the same condition. They are ordering a replacement visor.
Started car. Pulling out of garage going forward. Pushed the cruise control button on steering wheel instead of radio volume button by accident. Car suddenly began to rapidly accelerate. Took me a second or two hit brake to stop car. Pushing brake did stop car. If you activate the cruise control with the car running and in drive at any speed under 20 mph the car will accelerate to 20 mph.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision Avoidance system activated independently, causing the vehicle to abruptly stop in the middle of the roadway. During each failure, there were no other vehicles or structures nearby to cause the system to be activated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was informed that the contact that the computer module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

WHILE DRIVING THE CR-V DOWN THE COUNTRY ROADS IN MY AREA THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE AND LOOSE POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHILE TRYING TO FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OFF THE VEHICLE BEGAN LOOSING POWER. WITH THE GAS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO ABOVE FIVE MILES AN HOUR. FINDING A LOCATION TO PULL OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND THE ENGINE WAS CRACKLING AND SMELLED LIKE IT WAS BURNING. GETTING OUT OF VEHICLE FOR SAFETY REASONS ALLOWED SHOWED THAT THE SMELL WAS WORSE ON THE OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DEEMED IN OPERABLE. THEY PROVIDED ME WITH A LOANER; HOWEVER, I AM PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN. THIS VEHICLE WAS ONLY OFF THE LOT FOR THREE MONTHS WITH LESS THAN 800 MILES.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, ALL WARNING LIGHTS AND DASH WARNINGS COME ON, ALL DRIVER ASSIST FUNCTIONS STOP WORKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH WHILE STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER, AND THEY SAY NO ERRORS COME UP. ADDITIONALLY, YESTERDAY, MY WIPERS STARTED UP ON THEIR OWN AFTER OPENING THE TAILGATE (THE CAR WAS OFF AT THE TIME) AND I COULDN'T GET IT TO STOP. I TRIED STARTING AND SHUTTING DOWN THE CAR MULTIPLE TIMES, AS WELL AS DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY. (THE WIPERS STOPPED WHEN THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED, BUT STARTED BACK AS SOON AS I RECONNECTED IT.) AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS, WITH THE WIPERS STILL ON, THE PROBLEM STOPPED ON ITS OWN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,835.
REOCCURRING ISSUE OF THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN EITHER FREEZING OR GOING BAZERK WHILE DRIVING. EITHER NOTHING WORKS, INCLUDING THE POWER BUTTON TO TURN THE WHOLE DISPLAY OFF, OR THE BUTTON WORKS, CUTS THE DISPLAY OFF AND THE RADIO CONTINUES TO PLAY, OR THE DISPLAY STARTS FLASHING BETWEEN SCREENS, ADJUSTING THE BRIGHTNESS, BEEPING CONTINUOUSLY AND SOMETIMES MAKING PHONE CALLS ALL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO STOP IS TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND CUT THE CAR OFF. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE PEOPLE POSTING HERE..... WHO KNOWS HOW MANY PEOPLE AREN'T GOING THRU THIS PROCESS TO REPORT. ISN'T THIS DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING DANGEROUS ENOUGH TO BE INVESTIGATED AND PROVIDE FOR A RECALL. I HAVE A VIDEO BUT DON'T KNOW HOW TO LOAD IT. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE AND AFTER THE VIDEO I TOOK, BUT I'LL USE THE DATE OF THE VIDEO. OIL DILUTION IN ENGINE. ONLY 1,000 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE MY OIL SMELLS LIKE GAS AND IS 1/4" ABOVE MAX LEVEL. HONDA SAYS NO FURTHER FIXES AFTER THE REPAIR ALREADY COMPLETED. TOLD VEHICLE IS AT RISK FOR STALLING AND TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING TODAY THE CAR SYSTEM GOT JAMMED. DRIVING MY CAR. HEARD A NOISE, STOPPED AS SOON AS I COULD. PROBABLY ABOUT 1.5 MILES. I HAD A FLAT. IT WASN'T ONE OF THOSE BIG FLAT TIRES YOU GET AND YOU KNOW IT WITHIN 10 SECONDS. MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. AS SOON AS THE SPARE TIRE WAS PUT ON, THE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. I GOT A NEW TIRE AT THE CLOSEST TIRE PLACE. IT WASN'T THE SAME MANUFACTURER, BUT IT WAS THE SAME TIRE SPECIFICATIONS, BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE EXACT TIRE. I'VE DONE THAT MANY TIMES IN THE PAST, WITH NO PROBLEM. WELL, THE TIRE PRESSURING SYSTEM LIGHT KEPT GOING ON. I KEPT RESETTING IT AND IT WOULD GO ON AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THEY RESET IT. 10 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER AS I WAS DRIVING, THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY. THEY TOLD ME IT WASN'T THE EXACT TIRE, AND I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE MY NEW TIRE. I DID THAT. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE TIRE LIGHT (TPMS) WAS ON AGAIN. WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT HAD TO BE RESET AGAIN, AND THAT IT SHOULD BE RESET 3 TIMES REALLY FAST. (IS THIS IN THE MANUAL? IS THIS A REAL THING?) IT HASN'T COME BACK ON. WHAT CONCERNS ME, IS THE SAFETY OF DRIVING WITH A FLAT OR LOW TIRE PRESSURE WITH NO WARNING. AND IT'S SCARY DRIVING WITH THE LIGHT COMING ON EVERY 10 MINUTES. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHEN THERE'S A REAL EMERGENCY? IF A WARNING LIGHT DOESN'T COME COME ON WITH A FLAT, WHEN IS IT SUPPOSED TO COME ON? WHEN YOU DON'T PUT ON AN EXACT MATCHING TIRE? MY 2018 HONDA CR-V 1.5T ENGINE IS "MAKING OIL". I CHANGE MY OWN OIL AND MONITOR THE LEVEL WEEKLY. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE OIL DILUTION ISSUE THAT I READ ABOUT IN CONSUME REPORTS WOULD NOT AFFECT ME BECAUSE I AM IN A WARM CLIMATE (FLORIDA) BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE. THE OIL LEVEL ON MY DIP STICK ROSE ABOUT 3/8 OF AN INCH IN 5000 MILES. I CHANGED THE OIL AND WE TOOK A TRIP TO TENNESSEE IN THE WINTER AND THE OIL LEVEL ROSE SO MUCH IN THE COLD WEATHER I WAS CONCERNED THAT IT WOULD CAUSE TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE SEALS SO I DRAINED SOME OIL OUT. I WOULD THINK THAT GAS IN THE OIL WOULD SEVERELY EFFECT ENGINE LIFE. THE DEALER DENIES THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM SAYING THE THIS IS A COLD WEATHER ISSUE.
JUST PURCHASED A 2018 HONDA TOURING CRV WITH 300 MILES THAT I PURCHASE AND THERE'S ONLY THREE DAYS OLD THE VEHICLE HAS PROBLEMS ACCELERATING AND HAS LOUD KNOCKING NOISES FROM THE ENGINE.
